What Ails Us
A rot in our soul.
The world has spun too fast, lost its moorings, rudderless we drift into vacant seas, storm clouds gather. America is adrift, we can all feel it. So many crises afflict us, it is as if a wave has crested and all we can do is stand in its wake and weigh the damage, absent memories of what came before. Where to start but in some reflective thoughts on the passing of these times.
Lost connections are the curse of our days. The rise of mental illness, depression, suicide, particularly among our youth, rising drug addiction, lowering life expectancy, the list goes on and on. The answer is to medicate America, more pills, more prescriptions, and just more misery. What we have lost in terms of community, friends, churches, and family has resulted in all of this. It is not a health care crisis, it is a cultural crisis, a rot in our soul.
When did this war on race begin, where did this sudden hatred of white people come from? What is a white person anyway? Am I supposed to have more in common with say, a Bulgarian than with my Mexican-American neighbor or a black man that has roots in America going back almost four centuries? What foolishness is this? We were moving on from all of this, but race has become an industry, a grievance culture that has taken deep roots. If not thwarted, we will fully Balkanize, our future will make the Croat Serb-Albanian-Bosnian divide seem like a picnic.
We can’t even discuss certain things anymore; What is a man, what is a woman? I don’t even begin to understand what this sexual identity crisis is all about. Just to say this, incurs wrath. Something isn’t right, or maybe I am just getting too old. Our hearts cry out, not in judgement, but for the lost souls, the confused and depressed, the anxiety and pain that so many feel. We need a way forward, not to target the individual, but to make us whole and regain our meaning in this life.
Watching the news in the aftermath of the just passed 4th of July holiday was an eye-opener in what has become the new America. The tons of trash left on our beaches here in California, in Orange County, up on Lake Tahoe defies belief. We see it every day driving down our freeways, in our parks, preserves, everywhere, nothing but trash, our state has become an open pit. But to see the trash left on our beaches and lakes was entirely something new, something otherworldly.
The homeless crisis is not one of poverty, joblessness, and despair. Oh, it is a part of those things, but at its core it is one of mental illness, drugs, addition and our local governments acting as enablers in this crisis. Why are we allowing this? The vast majority of the homeless need treatment, interdiction and tough love. Not free drugs, free camping sites and sidewalk bathrooms on Main Street. We were better than this.
We have lost our nerve and our will; we seem very happy to send cluster bombs (outlawed by almost every country in the world) to Ukraine to fight a nuclear armed Russia but we have an open invasion of our southern border that our leaders turn a blind eye. Our seemingly Senile-in-Chief in the White House has openly hinted at regime change in Moscow, grounds for an undeclared war declaration, which means WWIII and carnage and death that we can’t even fathom. We will lose American cities at the cost of millions of lives. All for the Donbas?
In 1818, the borderlands of Florida, then part of the Spanish Empire, was ruled by gangs, cutthroats, thieves, it was a lawless region. These roving bands of miscreants would routinely cross the border and wreak havoc on American settlers in southern Georgia and Alabama. President James Monroe sent General Andrew Jackson down to check things out and report back. He did more than that, he crossed into Spanish Florida and took the cutthroat gangs to the woodshed and cleaned up the mess the old-fashioned way. Spain was feckless and soon after, through negotiations they ceded Florida to the United States. Problem solved. We don’t have to advocate for the annexation of Northern Mexico as the 51st State, but for the love of God, if the Mexican government can’t fix this problem, then we can and should. We are being invaded. Send the military, and stop the invasion at the source. Short of that, close the damn border and start respecting the sovereignty of the United States.
If a wayward phone call to Ukraine was found to be impeachable, then what of the allowance of a foreign invasion of our country? The complete negligence by the Biden administration is beyond criminal.
We have become the feckless empire, sending our men and women to fight and die in far off lands, sending billions of taxpayer dollars to defend the Dnieper River, all the while our country is invaded by drugs that are killing hundreds of thousands, by gangs, terrorists, child traffickers as our country rots from the inside. Even ritual suicide is more noble than this.
There is still a chance to change course, but the hour is late, we are running out of time. There are millions of patriots who still get it, that will die to defend this Republic. However, what ails us goes deep, in our loss of culture, community and faith. It can’t all be solved by the waving of a wand from Washington D.C.
The world is changing rapidly, we are entering the phase of a revolution driven by technology and the changes are overwhelming us. The old world we grew up in is no longer, it has passed. The opportunities on the one hand are almost limitless, breathtaking, but the destruction left in its wake has been devastating. Can we enter this new world and keep our dignity and stay grounded and preserve our liberty, sovereignty, freedom, and faiths? Or will it all be swept off to sea?
I passed on and crossed the river to rest in the deep shadows of a giant oak, the breeze upon me, fresh and exhilarating, the river’s waters running steady, sparkling diamonds on the crest of the rising breaks in downfall current. The tree stood tall, old, covering, protected and sure, the soft grass underneath given way to the deepness of earth’s coolness. We had returned and rested at last.

As in 2016, Democrats advance a corrupt ruling-class candidate. Like the dead man Gary Ernst, Democrats want people to vote for Joe Biden so they can swap him out for Kamala Harris, already a beneficiary of voter fraud and with the exception of Xavier Becerra possibly the worst attorney general in California history.

Business Lobby Ask Biden for More Foreign Workers Rather than Enticing Americans Back into Workforce
While Americans have struggled to remain in the workforce, the powerful business lobby is urging President Joe Biden to increase the share of foreign visa workers whom they can hire to what would be the highest level on record.
Nearly 130 special interest business groups — including many Chamber of Commerce chapters, construction companies, farms, landscaping businesses, restaurants, and retail stores — wrote to Biden asking him to expand the inflow of foreign visa workers to fill millions of American jobs.
“We respectfully request that you expand a special category of immigration permits for individuals who can fill positions where labor shortages exist, for people migrating to the United States, and long-term immigrant contributors like DREAMers, farm workers, and essential workers,” the business groups write.
Already, the U.S. imports more than a million legal immigrants on green cards annually in addition to more than a million foreign visa workers who arrive specifically to take American jobs. Likewise, under Biden, tens of thousands are securing work permits after crossing the southern border.
In particular, the business groups pointed to a plan touted by Republican Govs. Eric Holcomb of Indiana and Spencer Cox of Utah that gives states the ability to import foreign visa workers whenever business interests in such states decided that there are labor shortages that cannot be filled with Americans.
“One plan advanced by Republican governors, Eric Holcomb of Indiana and Spencer Cox of Utah, would allow states to ‘sponsor’ immigrant workers,” the business groups wrote:
With that authority, states could decide how many visas are needed each year for specific jobs. U.S Senators Bob Menendez (D-NJ) and Dick Durbin (D-IL) support the idea, as does New York Governor Kathy Hochul. [Emphasis added]
…
With congressional action on permanent immigration reform gridlocked, we look to your administration to expand the use of visas under current regulations and give states the authority to act on their workforce needs, so that migrants are treated humanely and businesses can rev up the engines that drive state and national economies. [Emphasis added]
The latest push by special interest business groups to open a constant flow of foreign visa workers to hire comes as Biden has ballooned the nation’s labor market through mass immigration while remaining largely unconcerned with the issue of Americans dropping out of the workforce.
For instance, last year, foreign-born workers saw their share of the U.S. labor market hit the highest level in almost 30 years at more than 18 percent, with close to 30 million now holding American jobs.
At the same time, the number of native-born Americans in the workforce has declined by 0.5 percent. Likewise, unemployment for foreign-born workers was lower last year, at 3.4 percent, than the unemployment rate for native-born Americans, at 3.7 percent.
The boon of foreign visa workers in the U.S. labor market, the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) recently detailed, means lower wages for working class native-born Americans in addition to more foreign workforce competition.
“Between the fourth quarters of 2016 and 2019, real (inflation-adjusted) weekly earnings for full-time, U.S.-born workers without a bachelor’s grew 3.2 percent,” CIS researchers write. “During this time, growth in the total immigrant population (legal and illegal) averaged about 400,000 a year, compared to about 730,000 a year from 2012 to 2016, when earnings actually fell slightly for the less-educated U.S.-born.”
Americans, by a majority, say businesses should work harder to recruit those on the labor market sidelines rather than the federal government importing foreign workers for them.
In the most recent Rasmussen Reports survey, nearly 6-in-10 Americans said it is “better for businesses to raise the pay and try harder to recruit non-working Americans even if it causes prices to rise” when faced with labor shortages. A minority of only 26 percent said it is better for the government to provide such businesses with foreign workers to hire.
