Government Report Faults Mass Migration Crisis for Premature Release of Suspected Terrorist

Washington, D.C. (July 5, 2023) – A Center for Immigration Studies analysis highlights a highly critical report by the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General  on the release of a suspected terrorist during the mass migration crisis. The report describes how national security was compromised by multiple mistakes and communication breakdowns that occurred due to the unprecedented numbers of illegal border-crossers drawn by the Biden administration immigration policies. According to the report, “CBP Released a Migrant on a Terrorist Watchlist, and ICE Faced Information Sharing Challenges Planning and Conducting the Arrest,” an unnamed migrant crossed the border illegally near Yuma, Ariz., in April 2022, along with the 30,000 others per month then pouring through an unfinished, cancelled section of Trump administration border wall. The alien raised suspicions as a potential terrorist, but due to the overwhelming number of migrants being processed, border agents released the person before resolving the alert. Todd Bensman, a national security fellow at the Center, writes that according to the report, “under the pressure of processing historic numbers of illegal aliens pouring through the Yuma Sector all that Spring (28,681 that April, compared to 298 the same month in 2020), Border Patrol released the suspect with most of the rest on personal recognizance, a GPS tracking device, and an honor-system promise that they voluntarily report in later to an ICE office in the cities they chose to settle in.” The illegal immigrant’s positive match on the FBI’s Terrorist Watchlist was only discovered after he boarded a commercial flight from California to Florida. However, it took two more weeks to locate and arrest the suspected terrorist in Tampa. Bensman, who has reported extensively on similar incidents, said, “This report confirms a long-held thesis of mine, which is that the mass migration crisis has seriously eroded normal counterterrorism security programs at the southern border and created an elevated threat level environment.” The report reveals breakdowns in communication and established processes for handling immigrants flagged on the FBI’s Terrorism Watchlist. Interviews and confirmations with suspects were not conducted before releases due to communication failures. The overwhelming number of migrants and the pressure to process them quickly were cited as reasons for the breakdown. The report also cited challenges in information sharing and coordination. Illegal Alien Gets Life in Prison for Raping, Impregnating 10-Year-Old Girl

An illegal alien has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to life in prison for raping and impregnating a 10-year-old girl in Columbus, Ohio. The case was cited by President Joe Biden and other Democrats after the girl sought an abortion in Indiana.

As Breitbart News has chronicled, 28-year-old illegal alien Gerson Fuentes was arrested and charged in July 2022 with raping the girl who then became pregnant.

Police said Fuentes had twice admitted to raping the girl while prosecutors said they had the DNA evidence to prove the illegal alien had raped her.

Still, the girl’s mother defended Fuentes in interviews with the media.

On Wednesday, Fuentes pleaded guilty to two counts of rape in a Franklin County, Ohio, courtroom and accepted a life sentence with the possibility of parole after 25 years. Fuentes could see his possibility of parole moved back five years if he commits bad behavior while serving his sentence.

Fuentes was able to live in the United States for at least seven years, working at a cafe despite his illegal alien status. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency told Breitbart News that they had not previously encountered Fuentes until his arrest for raping the girl.

The case made national headlines after Biden and other elected Democrats used the case to defend a constitutional right to abortion, following the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade, because the girl traveled to undergo an abortion on June 30 at six weeks pregnant.

Despite Biden’s claims that the girl was forced to travel to Indiana for an abortion, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost noted at the time that while Ohio has limited abortion, its law allows for medical emergencies, which include cases like child rape.

Feds: Biden’s DHS Let Illegal Alien on ‘Terror Watch List’ Board Domestic Flight After Freeing Him into U.S.

President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) allowed an illegal alien on the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) “Terrorist Watch List” to board a domestic flight after releasing him into the United States, a federal probe reveals.

A report issued by DHS Inspector General (IG) Joseph Cuffari details how DHS, on April 19, 2022, released an illegal alien into the surrounding community near Blythe, California, after he first arrived at the U.S.-Mexico border near Yuma, Arizona, on April 17, 2022 as a result of multiple data sharing and communication failures internally at the agency.

The case, detailed by the DHS IG, refers to 36-year-old illegal alien Isnardo Garcia Amado of Colombia, sources close to Breitbart News confirmed, though his identity in the official report is redacted.

According to the DHS IG, while in federal custody and before release into the U.S. interior, the FBI’s Terrorist Screening Center (TSC) determined that Garcia Amado “was an inconclusive Terrorist Watch List match.”

Just days after his release, on April 21, 2022, Garcia Amado checked in to a flight bound for Tampa, Florida, at the Palms Springs International Airport in Palms Springs, California.

While being screened before his flight, “TSC obtained additional information from [the Transportation Security Administration] and confirmed” that Garcia Abado was, in fact, a match for a man listed on the FBI’s Terrorist Watch List, according to the DHS IG.

Garcia Abado ultimately missed his April 21, 2022 flight and rebooked a flight for the following day.

“It is a stark reminder of the Biden Administration’s agenda that is making our borders less secure, and communities less safe,” John Fabbricatore, former ICE Field Office Director and member of the advisory board at the National Immigration Center for Enforcement (NICE), told Breitbart News.

As the DHS IG notes, those on the FBI’s Terrorist Watch List “are generally allowed to fly” so long as they are not also on the government’s “No Fly List” but are typically “subject to enhanced physical inspection before the flight and may be subject to observation by the Federal Air Marshal Service during the flight.”

After arriving in the Tampa area, Garcia Abado was not arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents until May 6, 2022 — more than two weeks after he was first released into the U.S. interior.

“Illegal aliens — including criminals and those on the terrorist watch list — are successfully entering undetected or intentionally released, as ICE agents struggle to keep up due to terrible policy directives and a lack of manpower and resources,” Fabbricatore said. “These self-inflicted threats pose a significant risk to national security and an effort needs to be made to immediately apprehend and remove them when discovered.”

Manhunt Underway After Illegal Alien Escapes from Virginia Detention Center

A manhunt remains underway as law enforcement in Caroline County, Virginia, search for an illegal alien who escaped on July 2 from the Caroline Detention Facility.

Dennis Zeledon-Hernandez, a 26-year-old illegal alien, escaped from the detention center days ago and is believed to be somewhere near Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia. Officials with the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office said Zeledon-Hernandez “poses no threat to the community.”

“The subject is still at large but appears to be contained in an area on Fort A. P. Hill Base since 3:30 am this morning,” officials wrote on July 3 on Facebook.

“We are assisting with an escapee that is a detainee from Caroline Detention Facility,” officials initially wrote on July 2. “The road is shut down due to the emergency personnel in the area of A. P. Hill Boulevard SB around the 118MM to 120MM. We are looking for 26 year old, hispanic male, Dennis Zeledon-Hernandez. At this time, it appears that he poses no threat to the community.”

Little information is known about Zeledon-Hernandez, though the Caroline Detention Facility is a nearly 340-bed correctional facility that contracts with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to hold illegal aliens while they are in immigration and deportation proceedings.
