The implosion of the Rule of Law - BUT WHO HAS MORE CONTEMPT FOR THE LAW THAN JOE BIDEN OR THE DEMOCRAT PARTY RULING CLASS OF PARASITE GAMER LAWYERS???

The implosion of the Rule of Law

The erudite and insightful Roger Kimball, who is well known to the readers at American Thinker, discusses in his essay the disappearance of the American respect for and application of the rule of law:

Instead of proper rule of law we are living with that Orwellian alternative, Our Rule of Law — an arbitrary enforcement of the laws and use of the coercive power of the state.

Mr. Kimball opens with a recall of the Hemingway novel The Sun Also Rises, which describes what is playing out now: the exchange "'How did you go bankrupt?' Bill asked.  'Two ways,' Mike said.  'Gradually, then suddenly.'"  Mr. Kimball alludes to the loss of the American Rule of Law, and you get the point: we are lost, gradually, now suddenly.  Have we lost the Rule of Law forever?

Mr. Kimball points out that the Hunter laptop scandal was revealed by the laptop from hell.  Miranda Devine broke the story, but it languished because of media cover-up and cancelation.

Kimball reveals the important breakthroughs, the bribes, and the explosive revelations of Hunter and other Biden family receipt of payments from foreign actors.  That has led to House discovery of many different payments.  That's the fodder for treason prosecutions.  It dribbled out, then suddenly the reality arrived for anyone who cared, and the House started a serious exposé that showed payments to Biden's family and the sitting president of the United States.

Explosive information from IRS informers made no dent.  Records of clear-cut Hunter efforts, with Joe sitting beside him, to demand bribe and payoff money from the Chicoms are ignored and diminished by government officials and media if they are acknowledged at all.

The tax fraud deal by Hunter was a scandal, but who's worried or fretting?  After all, Hunter is untouchable in spite of his failure to report millions in income, and he got a misdemeanor slap on the wrist for tax charges.  Same for a fraudulent application for a sidearm.  There are credible and evidence-supported allegations of Hunter's and Joe's legal violations, all the way to consorting with enemies.  We also have good evidence of Deep State efforts to protect Hunter and Joe.  Where's that going?

Preferential treatment?  Not according to A.G. Merrick Garland, who declared any critic of the Justice Department as betraying "democracy."

The two-tier deployment of justice in this country is patent for all to see, but what are you going to believe, your lying eyes or the pronunciamentos of this gray-on-gray bureaucrat from hell?

The end, as Hemingway's character observed, came gradually at first. We've moved on now to the "suddenly" part.

Is it so hard to see, the decline in the respect for law and even-handed application and enforcement of the law?  No, not at all.  Any halfway informed person knows we are entering a new legal environment — the world of tyranny and despots who use the law as a means for control and elimination of political opposition.  We may be lost...forever?

A 19-Point Time Line of Joe Biden’s Infamous Links to the Family Business

Although President Joe Biden has personally denied involvement in his family’s international business scheme nine times, a time line of events suggests Joe Biden not only is linked to the family’s affairs but is a key member of an “organized crime” operation, as House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) termed it.

Comer recently identified “six specific policy decisions” that Joe Biden made that indicate he could be “compromised.”

“Where is the money?” Biden responded in June when asked about his ties to the business. He later said he was joking. “It’s a bunch of malarkey.”

The following 19-point time line lays out the data points obtained from whistleblowers, the “Laptop from Hell,” James Comer, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), and the Senate 2020 report on the family.

One:

In 2013, Hunter flew to China with Vice President Joe Biden aboard Air Force Two. During the excursion, Hunter introduced the vice president to his business partner Jonathan Li, the CEO of a company linked to Chinese intelligence.

Ten days after the visit to China, Hunter secured a ten percent interest in BHR Partners, a Chinese state-backed investment fund co-founded with Li. The fund’s capitalization was $1 billion.

The Bank of China, a state-owned bank, controls BHR Partners. BHR Partners’ website boasts 15 billion RMB (renmibi, the official Chinese currency) in various portfolio companies, translating to more than two billion U.S. dollars.

Hunter Biden held a ten percent interest in BHR with the entity Skaneateles LLC. He controlled Skaneateles, according to Chinese public records from Baidu, as the sole governor until its dissolution in September 2021, a Washington, DC, registration indicated. Documents obtained by Breitbart News, first revealed by the nonprofit Marco Polo, show the control of Skaneateles LLC is held by Kevin Morris, Hunter Biden’s top attorney, who also paid Hunter Biden’s IRS debts.

Two:

Photos from 2014  reveal Joe Biden met with Hunter’s Mexican business associates, billionaire Miguel Alemán Velasco and his son Miguel Aleman Magnani, in the vice president’s office.

“The then-vice president also flew Hunter and his partner Jeff Cooper on Air Force 2 to Mexico City in 2016 where Hunter arranged to meet Alemán’s son for meetings over a ‘flippin gigantic’ business deal,” the Daily Mail reported.

Three:

In 2016, Hunter and Joe Biden flew aboard Air Force Two to Mexico, where Hunter met with a business associate from Mexico City. On the trip, Jeff Cooper, who ran a large litigation firm, SimmonsCooper, invested $1 million in Hunter and James Biden’s now-defunct hedge fund. The New York Post reported:

SimmonsCooper also put up $1 million in investment capital for Hunter and his uncle Jim [James] Biden’s abortive attempt to run a hedge fund in 2009. When the venture ended, the Bidens returned the money.

Cooper joined the VP’s entourage on Air Force Two to Mexico in 2016, when he and Hunter were trying to negotiate an ill-fated petroleum deal with Aleman Magnani.

At 6 p.m. on Feb. 24, 2016, about an hour after “wheels up” from Joint Base Andrews on the five-hour flight to Mexico City, Hunter wrote a plaintive email to Aleman Magnani using Air Force Two’s secure, high-speed satellite communications channel. He blind-copied Cooper.

Four:

A photo reportedly taken in 2014 shows Joe Biden golfing with Hunter and Devon Archer, Hunter’s fellow board member at the Ukrainian gas company Burisma. Archer, who was imprisoned for fraud, is in talks to comply with the House Oversight Committee’s subpoena regarding his knowledge of the Biden family’s alleged $10 million Ukraine “bribe” and additional Biden family business transactions.

“The photograph includes a fourth man who has not been identified. However, he is not Burisma’s top executive Taras Burdeinyi or founder Mykola Zlochevsky. Photographs of both men can be seen here and here,” Reuters reported.

Five:

In 2015, Burisma was under suspicion of money laundering and public corruption. Prosecutor Victor Shokin was investigating the case before his termination due to pressure applied by then-Vice President Joe Biden, who threatened to withhold $1 billion in U.S. aid from Ukraine if the Ukrainian government did not fire Shokin.

Joe Biden later bragged about the firing during a 2018 appearance at the Council of Foreign Relations.

“I said, ‘I’m telling you, you’re not getting the billion dollars.’ I said, ‘You’re not getting the billion. I’m going to be leaving here in,’ I think it was about six hours,” Biden told the audience. “I looked at them and said, ‘I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money.’ Well, son of a bitch. He got fired.”

Six:

An FBI informant claims to possess two pieces of evidence that show Joe Biden received $5 million after threatening to withhold aid to Ukraine until Shokin was fired, House Oversight Committee Republicans told reporters after reviewing the bureau’s informant file.

Seven:

In 2015, the day after Joe and Hunter Biden met with foreign business partners at Cafe Milano, one of the men emailed Hunter Biden his thanks for the “opportunity to meet your father.”

The New York Post reported:

The never-before-revealed meeting is mentioned in a message of appreciation that Vadym Pozharskyi, an adviser to the board of Burisma, allegedly sent Hunter Biden on April 17, 2015, about a year after Hunter joined the Burisma board at a reported salary of up to $50,000 a month.

“Dear Hunter, thank you for inviting me to DC and giving an opportunity to meet your father and spent [sic] some time together. It’s realty [sic] an honor and pleasure,” the email reads.

An earlier email from May 2014 also shows Pozharskyi, reportedly Burisma’s No. 3 executive, asking Hunter for “advice on how you could use your influence” on the company’s behalf.

Eight:

Hunter and Joe Biden allegedly “coerced” a Burisma executive into paying them $10 million in bribes, a source familiar with the FBI’s informant document confirmed to Breitbart News.

In 2015, Hunter and Joe Biden met with business associates from Ukraine, Russia, and Kazakhstan at a popular Washington, DC, restaurant. Joe Biden was then vice president.

The New York Post reported:

Online photos of the interior of Cafe Milano match the background of the shot that shows the Bidens smiling while flanked by Kazakhstani oligarch Kenes Rakishev and Karim Massimov, a former prime minister of Kazakhstan.

Ten:

In 2017, Joe Biden penned a college recommendation letter for a child of Hunter’s Chinese business partner, Jonathan Li, with whom Joe Biden met in China.

Eleven:

In 2017, Hunter Biden stated in an email that Joe Biden was one of his “new office mates” after he “went into business with the CEFC executive,” according to the Washington Post. Hunter also made a key for Joe Biden to use at the House of Sweden in Georgetown.

Hunter Biden appeared to cancel his lease with the House of Sweden in 2018 after the CEFC energy deal failed in 2017. The Biden family had previously negotiated a deal with CEFC whereby Joe Biden (Big Guy) would receive a ten percent equity stake in the joint venture, Hunter’s former business partner Tony Bobulinski.

Twelve:

In 2017, whistleblower Tony Bobulinski, one of Hunter Biden’s many business partners, twice met with Joe Biden to discuss a business deal in China.

“I directly dealt with the Biden family, including Joe Biden,” Bobulinski stated.

After Bobulinski dined with former Vice President Joe Biden, his brother Jim Biden, and Hunter to discuss their deal in China, Bobulinski messaged James, telling him to “thank Joe for his time.”

Thirteen:

Between 2009 and 2017, Hunter’s business partner, Eric Schwerin, met with Vice President Joe Biden at the White House 19 times, White House visitor logs obtained by the New York Post revealedSchwerin was the president of the infamous but now-dissolved investment fund Rosemont Seneca Partners.

Fourteen:

In 2017, Hunter Biden demanded payment from CCP-linked Chinese businessman Raymond Zhao, while Joe Biden was “sitting next to” him, according to a screenshot of a WhatsApp message from an IRS whistleblower.

“I am sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled,” the screen capture shows. “Tell the director that I would like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand, and now means tonight.”

The captured transcript of the call continues:

And, Z, if I get a call or text from anyone involved in this other than you, Zhang, or the chairman, I will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction. I am sitting here waiting for the call with my father.

Fifteen:

Just days after demanding to be paid by a CEFC associate in a WhatsApp text with Joe Biden “sitting” next to him, Hunter Biden asked a second CEFC business associate, Gongwen “Kevin” Dong, for $10 million in another WhatsApp text, noting the Biden family is best at “doing exactly what the chairman wants.”

In a message dated August 3, 2017, Hunter Biden told Kevin he wanted to quit squabbling “over peanuts” and settle on a firm deal by putting “this to bed tonight … and get to work. I am tired of this Kevin. I can make $5M in salary at any law firm in America.”

“Very simple,” Hunter wrote. “10 M per annum budget to use to further the interest of the JV. This move to 5M is completely new to me and is not acceptable obviously.”

“If you think this is about money it’s not,” Hunter added. “The Bidens are the best I know at doing exactly what the chairman wants from this partnership … let’s not quibble over peanuts.”

Chris Clark, Hunter Biden’s attorney, admitted the 2017 WhatsApp text demanding money from a CCP-linked businessman while “sitting next to” his dad was indeed Hunter’s message.

“The DOJ investigation covered a period which was a time of turmoil and addiction for my client,” he wrote. “Any verifiable words or actions of my client in the midst of a horrible addiction are solely his own and have no connection to anyone in his family.”

Sixteen:

In 2018, two years after Joe and Hunter Biden flew to Mexico to meet with Cooper, Hunter texted Cooper about a deal he had in the works with a business partner named Slim, the New York Post reported. “Spoke to my dad about ‘Slim ask,’” Hunter said to Cooper.

“Oh that sounds SO F’ING GOOD,” Cooper responded.

Seventeen:

In 2018, Joe Biden called Hunter Biden and left a voicemail about a business deal with the Chinese energy company CEFC. The voicemail revealed the Biden family’s concern that sensitive information was included in a New York Times article about Hunter Biden’s involvement with CEFC’s chairman Ye Jianming.

“Hey pal, it’s Dad. It’s 8:15 on Wednesday night. If you get a chance just give me a call. Nothing urgent. I just wanted to talk to you,” Joe Biden said.

“I thought the article released online, it’s going to be printed tomorrow in the Times, was good. I think you’re clear. And anyway if you get a chance give me a call. I love you,” the message concluded.

Eighteen:

In 2019, Hunter Biden revealed to his daughter that Joe Biden collected “half [my] salary” for 30 years. Hunter reportedly paid thousands of dollars for Joe Biden’s house repairs from the money reportedly obtained from selling access to Joe Biden.

“I hope you all can do what I did and pay for everything for this entire family for 30 years,” he texted. “It’s really hard. But don’t worry, unlike Pop [Joe], I won’t make you give me half your salary.”

Nineteen:

In 2023, Former Obama White House stenographer Mike McCormick alleged that the FBI has ignored Joe Biden’s role in the family’s foreign influence-peddling “conspiracy” in Ukraine.

McCormick, who told the New York Post he has relevant information implicating Joe Biden in the family’s business affairs in Ukraine, submitted a tip to the FBI in February. McCormick said he never heard back from the FBI — the same law enforcement agency which allegedly “shut down” the investigation into Hunter’s abandoned “Laptop from Hell.”

According to McCormick, Biden’s former national security aide, Sullivan, told reporters on April 21, 2014, on Air Force Two as an anonymous “senior administration official” that the United States intended to help Ukraine’s natural gas industry.

Unknown to the public at the time, Hunter Biden was already a board member of Burisma, a Ukrainian natural gas company. Hunter’s position on the board was not disclosed by the company until May 12, 2014, nearly a month after Sullivan’s statement to reporters.

This is largely attributed to stock trades made by her husband, Paul; and those trades were often concentrated in businesses and industries propped up by Nancy’s political policies. As famously documented by Breitbart Senior Contributor Peter Schweizer, Nancy Pelosi’s stances shifted consistently as her family made money. Currently—and thanks in part to the Speaker herself—most, if not all, of this appears to be legal.

The insulting farce of the Hunter Biden plea deal

Over at The Epoch Times, Roger Simon states the commonsense truth that the "Hunter Biden 'Plea Deal' Is an Insult to Our Intelligence."  He quotes presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy:

It's no accident that the farcical Hunter Biden "plea deal" comes right after the Trump indictment: it's the perfect fig leaf to pretend that "no one is above the law," while absolutely putting certain people above the law. It's an Orwellian gesture that gives the news media exactly the level of cover that they needed.

The quote is very good, but I would offer this small improvement: "... while making it absolutely clear that certain people are above the law."  The fig leaf is obviously and outrageously farcical on purpose.  It is, as Ramaswamy says, "perfect" if and only if it is meant to send us — those of us Americans who pay any attention to the news — a message: "We don't care what you think.  We no longer answer to you."

That is their message about the 2020 election, too.  The farcical claim that the 2020 election was on the up-and-up is transparently and purposefully a lie.  Their message: "We stole it, and we don't care if you know it."

Evidently, a majority of Americans don't believe the lie about the election.  However, some Americans are not willing to admit the obvious.  No doubt many of them know better.  They support the narrative that is approved by the propagandists in the "news" media.  They are pitching in, doing their part.  Then there are those who are going along to get along.  They are engaged in some degree of self-deception.  Since the obvious truth is so unspeakably horrible, they prefer to play along instead of confronting the too-horrible truth.

Given what was done in 2020, what can you and I expect in 2024?  More, much more, certainly.  Simon makes it clear that 2024 is make-or-break for the ruling class:

What is most feared by these people is a possible new Trump administration... That administration would yield an unprecedented loss of power…among a ruling class (aka deep state) with concomitant immense loss of money and status.

Simon is right, but my friend and colleague Brian Kennedy, writing at American Greatness, takes a deeper dive into what is at stake for the ruling class:

There is every reason to expect the 2024 election will be run just like the 2020 election. Indeed, it is likely to be conducted in an even more ruthless way simply because left-wing elected officials at both the federal and state levels, having crossed so many lines in pursuit of power, cannot risk a restoration of the rule of law.

We have seen what they have been willing to do already.  Imagine how far they will go when faced with the threat of the rule of law being restored.

Therefore, at a minimum, in 2024, the vote for a Republican administration that promises to drain the swamp must be simply overwhelming.  Americans of all stripes must wake up, speak up, and vote as if our freedom depends on it — because it does.  Perhaps even some of those who went along with the lie about 2020 will speak, vote, and act differently when they come to understand that 2024 will be an up-or-down vote on the rule of law in America.

The statute of limitations when intentional tax fraud has occurred

The public has been told that there is a six-year statute of limitations on Hunter Biden's tax returns, but there is actually no limitation when intentional tax fraud occurs, and that is clearly the case with Hunter Biden.

When it is determined that there is a substantial understatement in tax returns, the IRS will usually have six years to challenge the filing. However, this can be overturned when it is demonstrated that:

  • There was a filing of a false tax return
  • The taxpayer willfully attempted to evade paying taxes, or
  • The taxpayer filed a false or fraudulent return

If any of the three apply, the Internal Revenue Service can audit and charge interest and penalties without any limitations period.

Update: Yesterday, speaking with Bret Baier on Fox News's Special Report, IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley lamented the expiration of the statute of limitations on some of Hunter Biden's problematic tax returns. But he should know that IRS regulations are  clear:

A tax fraud offense may result in both civil and criminal penalties. The normal 3-year statute of limitations does not apply if civil fraud can be sustained

It is clear that Hunter Biden had the intent to hide his income from the IRS for years and that he had several helpers in committing the fraud. Who signed and filed the false returns for him? Was it an attorney or a CPA? Why haven't they been charged? Why don't we know their names?

Why doesn't the media care? They targeted Trump for years with little to no evidence, yet they have massive evidence on the Biden family corruption, including Joe, yet  seem to have little curiosity. Could it be the "D" behind their name and the radical, leftist policies they push that causes the disinterest? The question clearly answers itself.

The methods Hunter used to evade and underpay taxes were many:

IRS supervisory special agent Gary Shapley said Hunter’s 2014 and 2015 returns involved a “scheme to evade his income taxes through a partnership with a convicted felon.” At issue was the $83,000 a month Hunter received to sit on the board of Burisma, the Ukrainian energy company. The second (anonymous) whistleblower explained that in 2014 Hunter arranged a series of “sham” transactions so he “didn’t report any of the money he earned from Burisma”—about $400,000 in 2014.

The whistleblowers say Hunter directed Burisma to pay his money to Rosemont Seneca Bohai, or RSB, an entity owned by his business partner Devon Archer, who was convicted of fraud in 2018. They say RSB would send the money to Hunter, who then “booked it as a loan.” One obvious tax problem, explains the second whistleblower, is that “you can’t loan yourself your own money.”

Mr. Shapley says this loan ruse is a “textbook” evasion scheme

The second whistleblower says 2014 records show RSB paid more than $10,000 in Hunter medical bills, and purchased a $142,000 Porsche for Hunter’s benefit via other money from a Kazakhstan businessman. The whistleblower says Hunter didn’t report this as income.

We have also seen evidence from Hunter's laptop that Hunter and Joe had a joint checking account and Hunter paid bills for Joe. If that is true and the income came from Hunter, those payments should be on a gift tax return if they totaled over $14,000 per year, which we can assume they did. So why didn't Joe make sure that those gifts were reported?

We hear a lot from Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders and other Democrats that about people not paying their fair share and that wealthy people should pay huge estate taxes, so why have they been silent about the Biden's? It appears they don't really care about special people not paying taxes so they should just shut up.

Joe and Jill also structured their taxes to save huge amounts of Social Security and Medicare taxes. Their S corporations earned $10 million in 2017 yet paid only $245,833 in wages to themselves, which allowed them to avoid paying 2.9% Medicare taxes on $9,750,000 or around $300,000.

People like the Bidens, Bill Gates, and Warren Buffet always lecture others that they should pay more in taxes while they work very hard to reduce their personal and corporate taxes. Either they should stop structuring their taxes to reduce them or they should stop misleading the public that they want to pay more.

Why does the media allow Biden to continually lie about what the rich pay in taxes? He gives a speech that says the rich pay 8% when in 2020, the richest 1% paid 26% and the bottom 50% of taxpayers paid an average of 3%.

The answer to the question is that most of the media are propagandists pushing an agenda, just like Biden and facts haven't mattered for a long time.

Why do Biden and others continually get away with lying that Trump's tax rate cuts cost the government trillions when revenues have actually substantially increased? The answer again is the only thing that matters to most of the media and other Democrats is a more powerful government with less freedom and money for the people.

Nancy Pelosi hasn't said a word about the Bidens’ ethics and corruption but she is colluding with many in the media to lecture the Supreme Court about their ethics. What a joke! Nancy and her husband have achieved great wealth due to manty timely investments.

  • When Nancy Pelosi lectures people about ethics it is like:
  • Hillary and Bill telling people how to treat women with their history of mentally and physically harming women and seeking to destroy them.
  • Biden and Hillary telling Trump about the proper handling of classified documents.
  • Gore, Kerry, Obama and Gates lecturing people about controlling their carbon footprint while living in many mansions and flying in private jets.
  • Obama, the WaPo, NYT, and others lecturing people about the importance of facts with their history of lying including about Russian collusion and the laptop.

Joe Biden and his son are clearly corrupt. Sadly, most of the media doesn't care and that is causing great damage to the American people. It is no surprise that so many politicians use corrupt means to achieve great wealth, with the help of a mostly compliant media especially when the corrupt politicians are leftists.

Garland: Questioning the Integrity of the Justice Dept. is an Attack on — You Guessed It

What the Left really means by "democracy."

[Editor’s note: Make sure to read Robert Spencer’s masterpiece contributions in Jamie Glazov’s new book: Barack Obama’s True Legacy: How He Transformed America.]

With the sweetheart deal that Hunter Biden just got from federal prosecutors, Attorney General Merrick Garland has once again confirmed that he has taken the Justice Department, which was once the envy of the world for its indefatigable commitment to equal justice for all, and turned it into a squad of legal hit men for foes of the Biden regime and a legal laundromat for the regime’s members and cronies, most notably for the alleged president’s crackhead influence-peddling son. Garland himself, however, bristles if you believe your lying eyes on this matter. On Friday he complained that charges that his Justice Department was doling out frame jobs for dissidents and skates for friends of the regime was a threat to — that’s right! — our “democracy.”

As has been pointed out many times, when Leftists profess to be worried about the health of “our democracy” (I know, I know, it’s a republic), they’re really referring to threats to their own hegemony over the nation’s political and cultural spheres. Garland confirmed this Friday when a reporter noted that some Republicans are talking about the corruption of the Justice Department, and asked him: “Do the American people have cause to be concerned about the integrity of the components of this Justice Department, and what do you have to say about how they’re reacting?”

In his answer, Garland went as heavy on the self-righteous unctuousness as a kid drenching his fries in ketchup: “I certainly understand,” he huffed, “that some have chosen to attack the integrity of the Justice Department as components and its employees by claiming that we do not treat like cases alike. Uh, this constitutes an attack on an institution that is essential to American democracy and essential to the safety of the American people. Nothing could be further from the truth.” There it is: attack Merrick Garland and his revoltingly corrupt henchmen, and deplore the dumpster fire they have made out of a department that is supposed to administer impartial justice, and you’re attacking “American democracy.”

Note Garland’s appalling sleight of hand: he equates an attack on his Justice Department, which is a gang of Leftist liars who tried to frame an elected president of the United States for crimes he didn’t commit and classified angry parent at school board meetings as terrorists, with an attack on the very idea of a Justice Department. For he is of course right, as far as it goes: the Justice Department is indeed essential to American democracy, or rather, to the American republic. That’s why we’re in the fix we’re in: because the Justice Department is now a public relations office for those whom the regime favors and a no-holds-barred instrument of vengeance against those whom the regime hates. Those who are attacking it are not against the institution at all but against the mess that Garland has made of it.

Garland, however, insists that he and his far-Left minions have behaved with perfect probity. He added: “You’ve all heard me say many times that we make our cases based on the facts and the law. These are not just words. These are what we live by. They’re the foundation of the way we make these decisions.” Gee, that’s reassuring, but here’s a shocker: Garland was not exactly being honest.

Just the News reported Thursday that “Internal Revenue Service whistleblowers are directly challenging Attorney General Merrick Garland’s claim that David Weiss, the U.S. attorney in Delaware, was allowed to run his Hunter Biden tax probe free of political interference.” Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) recently asked Garland “to describe what would happen if Weiss wanted to pursue charges against President Biden’s son outside of his Delaware jurisdiction, considering Garland hadn’t made him a Justice Department special counsel.”

Garland responded, “I promise to ensure that he’s able to carry out his investigation and that he’d be able to run it. And if he needs to bring it in another jurisdiction, he will have full authority to do that.” However, an IRS said that at an Oct. 2022 meeting between Weiss, IRS investigators, and FBI agents, Weiss was told he could not bring his case against Hunter Biden to Washington. “And then he went back and asked for special counsel authority, and they told him no.” Impartial justice!

House Republicans could do a great deal to expose and end the Justice Department’s deep corruption if they impeached Merrick Garland. Aside from Old Joe himself, no Biden regime official would be more deserving.

Support among House Judiciary Committee Republicans for an impeachment inquiry into Attorney General Merrick Garland grew stronger after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy threatened impeachment proceedings if IRS whistleblower allegations turn out to be true regarding the politicization of the Justice Department’s Hunter Biden tax probe.

IRS whistleblowers told Congress last week the DOJ twice prevented United States Attorney David Weiss from bringing stronger charges in two separate locations against Hunter Biden. In addition, the whistleblowers alleged Garland rejected a request to appoint a special counsel in the probe to place a degree of separation between the DOJ and President Joe Biden.

IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley claims his allegations can be corroborated by several individuals with firsthand knowledge of Shapley’s account of his communication with Weiss. “It’s up to him and the Justice Department to reconcile the evidence,” Shapley said through his attorney.

Garland denies the DOJ politically interfered in the investigation of the president’s son. Garland says Weiss had full authority to charge Hunter Biden, even though Garland admitted to Congress in March he was the authority to authorize any potential charges against Hunter Biden — including in a separate “jurisdiction.”

The conflicting stories caused McCarthy on Sunday to threaten impeachment proceedings against Garland if the whistleblower allegations are found to be true.

Several Republican House Judiciary Committee members told Breitbart News that they support McCarthy considering an impeachment inquiry. Impeachment proceedings must originate from the House Judiciary Committee before reaching a full House vote.

“It’s not an empty threat,” senior committee member Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) exclusively told Breitbart News. “Congress can’t just look away from the culture of corruption that’s there for all to see, and the possibility of impeachment has to be on the table.”

“From the start, AG Garland has allowed partisan politics to hold sway in the Justice Department — including the unprecedented targeting of parents,” he added.

“Whistleblower allegations related to the Hunter and Joe Biden investigation make it abundantly clear a two-tiered system of justice exists today,” Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-WY) told Breitbart News. “I fully support Speaker McCarthy on this issue and welcome the opportunity to question Mr. Garland in Judiciary Committee hearings.”

“The Department of Justice, and the entirety of the federal government, must be a fair and impartial agency that enforces federal law, but under current leadership, it is a political weapon used to punish opponents of the president,” she said.

Rep. Andy Biggs’ (R-AZ) and Rep. Troy Nehls’ (R-TX) senior staff also issued statements in support of impeachment proceedings to Breitbart News.

“Congressman Nehls absolutely supports McCarthy’s position that Garland should be impeached,” said Nehls’ Communications Director Taylor Hulsey.

“Congressman Biggs is on board,” Communications Director Matthew Tragesser told Breitbart News.

In a clip shared with Breitbart News from Rep. Chip Roy’s (R-TX) Communications Director Nate Madden, the Texas congressman also supported the potential impeachment proceeding if the allegations prove true.

“That certainly raises questions of impeachability. There is no question about that,” Roy told WMAL. “That’s what inquiries are for … We’ve got an obligation on the Judiciary Committee to pursue it wherever it goes.”

McCarthy appeared Monday on Fox and Friends and doubled down on his vow of imminent impeachment proceedings against Garland if the whistleblower allegations are true.

“Yesterday, I laid out very clearly by July 6, because of the allegations of the IRS, because of the whistleblowers and Garland — what he is saying and what Weiss is saying are two different things,” McCarthy said. “And if it is true what the IRS whistleblowers are saying, we will start impeachment inquiries on the attorney general.”

Whistleblower No. 2: Hunter Biden Willfully Evaded Millions in Taxes Through Elaborate Tax Scheme

Hunter Biden agreed to plead guilty last week to two misdemeanor counts of failing to pay taxes on time, but according to the second whistleblower whose testimony was also released last week by the House Ways and Means Committee, he also willfully evaded paying millions in taxes in an elaborate tax scheme.

According to the second whistleblower — the lead IRS case agent for the Hunter Biden investigation whose name is redacted — Hunter Biden set up a scheme involving a Ukrainian natural gas company he sat on the board of and a Chinese business associate to willfully evade paying taxes.

The whistleblower said Hunter Biden had already owed hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes long before his father became vice president. In 2014, when the Joe Biden was in his second term as vice president in charge of Ukraine policy and when Ukrainian natural gas company, Burisma, put Hunter on its board of directors, Burisma paid Biden $666,667 to do little or no work.

According to the whistleblower, Hunter Biden received the money from Burisma, and instead of reporting it as income and paying taxes on it, he put that money into a Chinese firm run by one of Hunter Biden’s associates, who then “loaned” the money to Hunter Biden.

The whistleblower testified:

So [Hunter Biden] sets this out in this email and what ends up happening is — so imagine this. If you are an owner of a company and your friend tells you that, I want to pay my wages to your company and you’re going to loan the money back to me, that’s essentially what happened here. He took loans from that corporation — which were distributions. And he didn’t pay taxes on those loans.

So essentially for 2014, we had found that Hunter didn’t report any of the money he earned from Burisma. So the reason why this is important is because Hunter set it up this way, to not — to essentially earn the money through his friend’s corporation and then have his friend pay him back half of the money as loans, quote, unquote, loans. …

The whistleblower continued, “None of it was taxed. … So none of this has been paid or prosecuted. And I would also like to note that the statute has run out on these tax years or on the 2014 tax year.”

The whistleblower said the Justice Department believed Biden’s defense that the money was a loan.

“You can’t loan yourself your own money. It just doesn’t make any sense,” the whistleblower said.

When asked if the transactions seemed to be a “sham,” the whistleblower answered, “So, yes, I would agree that the transactions would — you would want to sham the transactions, yes.”

As the Washington Examiner’s Byron York noted, Biden’s income in 2014 was not part of the misdemeanor charges against him, and the statute of limitations was allowed to expire.

The whistleblower also noted that Hunter Biden’s friend, a wealthy Hollywood celebrity lawyer named Kevin Morris, had paid off the $2.2 million that Hunter Biden owed the IRS for years 2014 through 2019.

The whistleblower said on Hunter Biden’s 2020 tax returns he included a note that he had received financial support from Morris of $1.4 million, which both agreed to treat as a loan with 5% interest to be paid between 2025 and 2027.

“The taxpayer is treating this amount as a loan for tax purposes. The balance of the financial support is treated as a gift. No amount of the support is treated as a reported taxable event on this return,” the note said.

Morris would give Hunter Biden approximately $800,000 more, totaling $2.2 million to pay off the taxes he owed.

When asked if that transaction had been investigated, the whistleblower said he did not know since he and the other whistleblower, Gary Shapely, were removed from the investigation by then.

York wrote:

And now the matter has been resolved with two misdemeanor charges. The conclusion is deeply frustrating to IRS agents like [whistleblower #2]. Hunter Biden failed to file returns, failed to pay his taxes for several years, and falsely claimed deductions. … The agents’ conclusion is that just because Hunter Biden’s new friend bailed him out — no repayments required until 2025 — does not mean Hunter Biden did not violate the tax laws repeatedly in the 2010s.

“At the end of WB2’s deposition, a Republican lawyer asked this question: ‘If someone meets all the elements for a crime of willful evasion and are found to, in conjunction with that, owe a liability, and they pay off that liability years later when they’ve been caught, has a crime been committed?’ WB2 answered simply: ‘Yes.'” York concluded.
