Marc Benioff, the San Francisco-based Salesforce CEO who has pushed for "sustainable capitalism" and higher taxes on his own industry, said yesterday the city needs to hire more police officers and expand law enforcement resources.
"First principles: Our city laws must be fully enforced," Benioff tweeted Monday. "Our [San Francisco Police Department] police must be fully funded. We must fully return trust & safety to retail business and residential properties now." Benioff recommended hiring 600 officers to return the force to its capacity a year and a half ago, expanding the police academy, and measuring officers by effectiveness.
The comments show even Benioff, who has been described by Politico as "tech's woke CEO," has joined calls for stronger law enforcement amid rising crime. Rampant crime and rising homelessness have driven people and businesses out of California cities in recent years, with some leaving the Golden State entirely. San Francisco experienced a homicide increase last year for the fourth year in a row and has already reported 15 percent more robberies compared with this time last year. Over half a million residents fled California in the two years after the pandemic’s start, according to the New York Post.
The city’s downtown has lost half of its businesses since the start of the pandemic. Old Navy announced in May it would close its flagship store in downtown San Francisco. Nordstrom announced in the same month it would be closing both of its downtown locations this summer, and Saks OFF 5th said its only location in San Francisco would close in the fall. Whole Foods closed its "flagship" location in San Francisco in April, citing the "safety" of its employees.
San Jose clothier owner Daud Shuja told the Associated Press new customers live far away from downtown and that he plans to open a new location closer to the suburbs in Palo Alto next year.
"They just don’t want to deal with the homelessness, with the environment, with the ambiance," Shuja said.
Benioff told the Associated Press the city's downtown is "never going back to the way it was" before the pandemic, predicting that workers will never again commute every day. He recommended San Francisco convert office space downtown into housing to "rebalance downtown."
“San Francisco has become the prime example of what downtowns shouldn’t look like: vacant, crime-ridden and in various stages of decay. But in truth, it’s just one of many cities across the U.S. whose downtowns are reckoning with a post-pandemic wake-up call: diversify or die,” it added.
Many Democrats understand that the welfare checks for foreign children will encourage more illegal immigration, he said:
They know what’s going on. But they know that they can’t say what their true goal is, which is actual open borders with open, uncontrolled migration both ways. And this is a step toward getting rid of borders.
“It’s a globalist mindset and it welcomes anything that moves toward open borders,” he concluded. NEIL MUNRO

More than five million illegal aliens have crossed the U.S.-Mexico border since Joe Biden took office, according to a study from the Federation for American Immigration Reform. With some exceptions, these migrants tend to be low-skilled, poor, and come from countries where violence is normal and women and certain minorities are degraded. By importing millions of foreign nationals who come from countries with cultures and values that are diametrically opposed to ours, American leaders are setting the stage for exactly the kind of strife and turmoil that is occurring in France.
Marc Benioff, the CEO of Salesforce, has claimed that downtown San Francisco will not be going back to its pre-pandemic state.
The coronavirus pandemic launched a revolution of stay-at-home work, forcing major metropolitan areas like downtown San Francisco to become havens for vacant office buildings. Per Fox Business:
The Associated Press reported that office vacancy rates in San Francisco were 24.8% in the first quarter, more than five times higher than pre-pandemic levels and well above the average rate of 18.5% for the nation’s top cities, according to CBRE, a commercial real estate services company.
For San Francisco, the three-year exile resulted in empty storefronts with large “going out of business” signs hanging from windows.
Popular shops like Uniqlo, Nordstrom Rack and Anthropologie have left, toiletries like shampoo and toothpaste are locked up at pharmacies, and places like Gucci get hit by armed robbers in broad daylight.
With a decrease in people commuting downtown, the local economy has taken a hit, with businesses being forced to close due to a dwindling customer base. This has forced parts of downtown San Francisco to relax its zoning rules for certain buildings to have mixed-use spaces.
Benioff said that the area is “never going back to the way it was” and advised Mayor London Breed to convert some offices into housing and hire more police.
According to the Associated Press, just last month, the owner of Westfield San Francisco Centre, a fixture for more than 20 years, said, “it was handing the mall back to its lender, citing declining sales and foot traffic. The owner of two towering hotels, including a Hilton, did the same.”

More than 7-in-10 households headed by immigrants in the state of California are on taxpayer-funded welfare, a new study reveals.
The latest Census Bureau data analyzed by the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) finds that about 72 percent of households headed by noncitizens and immigrants use one or more forms of taxpayer-funded welfare programs in California — the number one immigrant-receiving state in the U.S.
Meanwhile, only about 35 percent of households headed by native-born Americans use welfare in California.
All four states with the largest foreign-born populations, including California, have extremely high use of welfare by immigrant households. In Texas, for example, nearly 70 percent of households headed by immigrants use taxpayer-funded welfare. Meanwhile, only about 35 percent of native-born households in Texas are on welfare.
In New York and Florida, a majority of households headed by immigrants and noncitizens are on welfare. Overall, about 63 percent of immigrant households use welfare while only 35 percent of native-born households use welfare.
President Trump’s administration is looking to soon implement a policy that protects American taxpayers’ dollars from funding the mass importation of welfare-dependent foreign nationals by enforcing a “public charge” rule whereby legal immigrants would be less likely to secure a permanent residency in the U.S. if they have used any forms of welfare in the past, including using Obamacare, food stamps, and public housing.
The immigration controls would be a boon for American taxpayers in the form of an annual $57.4 billion tax cut — the amount taxpayers spend every year on paying for the welfare, crime, and schooling costs of the country’s mass importation of 1.5 million new, mostly low-skilled legal immigrants.
As Breitbart News reported, the majority of the more than 1.5 million foreign nationals entering the country every year use about 57 percent more food stamps than the average native-born American household. Overall, immigrant households consume 33 percent more cash welfare than American citizen households and 44 percent more in Medicaid dollars. This straining of public services by a booming 44 million foreign-born population translates to the average immigrant household costing American taxpayers $6,234 in federal welfare.

California approves ‘shocking’ policy giving weekly checks to migrants: Report
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said he is “fully prepared to have a Florida-California showdown” if the Democrats replace President Joe Biden with Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) in the presidential election.
“So let me just end with a shallow question based on speculation: Do you think Biden will be the Democratic nominee?” Tucker Carlson asked DeSantis at the Blaze Media Summit on Friday.
Honestly, I go back and forth because it’s an incumbent president, and unless he’s willing to step aside, I don’t think they can get him out of there. On the other hand, I’m fully prepared to have a Florida-California showdown and let the people choose what’s the better vision for the United States of America because I’m very confident that the freedom in Florida is what more people would choose rather than the public defecation on the streets of San Francisco.
He also spoke with Carlson about the recent influx of Californian residents into Florida under his governorship.
“So here’s the truth: When I became governor, and I was born and raised in Florida, I had never seen a California license plate in the state of Florida in my life. And all of a sudden, we start seeing California plates,” DeSantis said. “My supporters are like, ‘Uh oh, who are these people?’ Because, remember, I may have won by 20 points in November, but the Florida races were one percent. So if you bring in 50,000 Californians, 50,000 people from New York, all of a sudden, it could be a blue state.”
“We would have supporters go to supermarkets in like Palm Beach, fine every New York or New Jersey license plate, put a flyer in the windshield and say, do not vote down here the way they vote up there,” DeSantis explained. “But what ended up happening was, I think we drew people who believe what we were doing, it wasn’t just these were liberals who just wanted no state income tax. There may have been some of those, but I think most of these people said you know what? Florida is a free state. I’m not dealing with these lockdowns.”
