LOS ANGELES, California — Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. launched a short documentary film on Thursday about his trip to the southern U.S. border last month, highlighting an issue few other Democrats have dared to touch.

As Breitbart News reported at the time, Kennedy visited the border near Yuma, Arizona, at the dead of night, arriving without fanfare so that the scene would not be sanitized in preparation for his visit. A guide informed him that he and Sen. Mark Kelley (D-AZ) were the only two Democrats who had visited the border to see firsthand what is going on under the Biden administration.

The documentary, a 19-minute film, was released at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills before an audience of several hundred local supporters of the Kennedy campaign, along with members of the media.

The film shows Kennedy meeting, and speaking with, migrants from all over the world, including Africa and Asia — only one of whom was seeking asylum. The rest, he said, were economic migrants seeking a better life for themselves and their families.

Kennedy, who is fluent in Spanish, is shown speaking to migrants from Spanish-speaking countries — though there are many migrants from other parts of the world as well. He hears, firsthand, their stories of distress and dislocation along their journey.

He also tours gaps in the border wall (or fence) that were left behind when President Joe Biden dropped former President Donald Trump’s program to build a physical barrier, along with patrol roads and electronic sensors, to stop the flow of illegal migrants.

Kennedy is also shown learning about sexual assaults committed against women and children on the journey to the border, including both girls and boys.

He says at the conclusion of the documentary that he has learned that the current U.S. border policy is just a way of funding “a multibillion-dollar drug and human trafficking operation” to benefit the Mexican cartels. He promises, if elected, to seal the border, while allowing pathways to legal immigration.

Former TV news anchor Bob Jimenez, who accompanied Kennedy to the border, introduced the documentary. He said that it exposed “the lie that has been told to us” about the border, and about what happens to the immigrants “who are in harm’s way, all the way,” while the cartels get “richer and fatter every year” because “our southern border in open.”

The documentary was produced internally by the Kennedy campaign.

In remarks following the film, Kennedy declared, to applause, that “a country cannot exist if it can’t secure its borders.” He said that unlike other candidates who had approached the issue with “xenophobia,” he would do so through “compassion.”

He framed the issue not as one of immigrants’ rights — which he respected — but as the self-enrichment of the cartels.

Kennedy confessed to having had a change of heart on the issue, after learning more about the border.

“I was against Trump’s wall. I thought it was a crazy idea,” Kennedy admitted.

He said he still believed that the U.S. did not need a wall along the entire border — “the 2000 miles from Brownsville to San Diego” — partly because of natural barriers.

“But we do need something.”

He said that he would use a physical barrier for part of the border, and restore electronic surveillance of the boundary where it had been abandoned. He added that the U.S. had to work more effectively with Latin American countries to stop the migration.

Exclusive: Border Patrol Records 125 Migrant Deaths in July

EAGLE PASS, Texas — An ongoing heatwave impacting much of the nation and the swift-moving currents of the Rio Grande proved deadly for migrants attempting to enter the United States during the month of July. According to a source within Customs and Border Protection, 125 migrants perished attempting to cross the U.S. southwest border in July.

The Border Patrol recorded 37 migrant deaths during the month of July in the El Paso Sector. Most of the deaths, according to the source, involved heat-related injuries. The total migrant deaths in July for the El Paso, Tucson, and Del Rio Border Patrol Sectors averaged more than 3 per day.

Temperatures in certain parts of the southwest remained more than 100 degrees Fahrenheit for weeks. In Arizona, temperatures spiked above 110 degrees for more than 30 consecutive days. The record-breaking heat contributed to 36 migrant deaths in the Tucson Sector alone, according to the source. The Arizona Border Patrol sector recorded the second-highest total for migrant recoveries in July.

The third-highest number of migrant deaths recorded by the Border Patrol occurred in the Del Rio Sector where the remains of 31 deceased migrants were recovered. In that sector, the source says most recoveries involved heat-related illness. This was followed in numbers by drownings in the Rio Grande.

The source says the migrant deaths recorded by the Border Patrol do not accurately portray the total number of migrants who died during the month attempting to cross the border.  The Border Patrol does not maintain a record of deceased migrants recovered by authorities in Mexico or those recovered by other U.S. law enforcement agencies in areas away from the border where there is no involvement by the Border Patrol in the recovery.

As reported by Breitbart Texas, on Wednesday, two bodies were discovered by law enforcement near a floating border barrier installed as part of Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star just south of Eagle Pass. The Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol troopers manning the floating barrier believe the migrants may have drowned upstream of the buoys before the discovery. Law enforcement authorities in Mexico are working to identify the bodies after they were recovered near the barriers.

The Border Patrol will not record these recoveries in their accounting of migrant deaths as the recoveries occurred in Mexico. With two months left in the current fiscal year, nearly 550 migrant deaths have been recorded by the Border Patrol alone according to the source.

In 2022, a study by the United Nations’ International Organization for Migration (IOM) declared the United States-Mexico land border to be the most dangerous land crossing in the world. U.S. Customs and Border Protection recorded more than 800 deaths during the year. The designation by the IOM is likely to remain unchanged when the total of migrant deaths on both sides of the U.S./Mexico border is finalized for 2023.

Illegal Eritrean Migrant Jailed for ‘Sinister’ Sex Attacks on Women

An illegal migrant from the African nation of Eritrea has been given a 13-year extended sentence for a series of “sinister” sexual assaults on lone women in the English coastal town of Brighton.

Hanok Zeray, 32, who broke into Britain illegally from Eritrea in 2021, has been found guilty of sexually assaulting at least six women in Brighton during the summer and autumn of 2o22 when he was out on bail from prison.

The illegal migrant, who has applied for asylum status to remain in the country was handed an extended sentence of 13 years and three months, with eight years and three months to be served in prison and the remainder on licence. However, Zeray will be eligible for parole after serving just five and a half years behind bars, Sussex Police said in a statement on Monday.

Sentencing at Lewes Crown Court, Judge Martin Huseyin told Zeray that is likely to be deported on release, unless his asylum claim is accepted, the local Brighton and Hove News reported.

Judge Huseyin said: “You carried out a very sinister and scary campaign of serious sexual assaults. It seems to me that women – particularly young lone women – are in real danger from you of serious harm from sexual offences in the future.

“That risk may be reduced in the future but at the moment you pose a high risk,” the Judge said, with the court hearing that on more than one occasion, he attacked at least two women in a single evening.

Judge Huseyin said that the migrant’s sexual assaults had life-changing impacts on some of his victims. He said that at least three of the women had expressed concern over his safety as he appeared to be intoxicated. Zeray, the judge said, repaid the kindness by sexually assaulting them.

In one instance, the Eritrean national forced his hand up a woman’s dress and assaulted her to such an extent that she experience pain in her intimate area for weeks. “She said you were smiling as she tried to fight you off,” the judge said.

The woman did successfully film Zeray on her phone while urging him to stop and warning him that she was phoning for help from the police. When shown the footage, the migrant claimed to have difficulty remembering the incident.

Speaking in defence, Zeray’s lawyer, Greg Johnson said: “A major factor in his offending is that he was clearly drinking alcohol to excess,” and that “he would like to say sorry to each and every victim.”

Zeray admitted to sexually assaulting six women, however, the judge said that he believes there was a seventh victim, who was not tracked down by the police.

Superintendent Adele Tucknott, Sussex Police’s lead for violence against women and girls, said: “The behaviour shown by Hanok Zeray will not be tolerated in Sussex – from the persistent harassment of women through to the sexual assaults for which he has been jailed.

“Women and girls should be safe to walk the streets alone at any time of day or night without being targeted by predatory men.

“We have a range of measures to keep people safe at night and it is so important that any incidents are reported so we can take positive action.”

Mexican President Mocks Texas Governor Over DOJ’s Border-Barrier Lawsuit

Mexico’s President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador mocked Texas Governor Greg Abbott this week over the recent lawsuit filed by the U.S. Department of Justice against the state seeking the removal of various border barriers including buoys and fencing.

During his morning news conference, Lopez Obrador talked about the recent lawsuit filed by the DOJ against Texas seeking the removal of various border barriers. As Breitbart Texas reported, Abbott ordered the placement of buoys and various other barriers claiming that the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden was not doing anything to stop illegal immigration or drug trafficking.

“We celebrate that Biden is presenting this complaint because it is not his (Abbott’s) to meddle in international affairs,” Lopez Obrador said. “It is the faculty of the federal executive. States are not supposed to have any type of accords with foreign nations. But we have to look at it for what it is, it’s a publicity stunt.”

In his conference, Lopez Obrador said that people from Texas and Mexico are supposed to be united, and the fencing promotes division instead of fostering unity.

“He (Abbott) is doing everything for votes,” Lopez Obrador said. “I think it’s going to be counterproductive for him. I don’t think people are going to vote for him. They are NOT going to vote for him.”

Lopez Obrador said that Texas has a large population of Hispanic descent and a large population of migrants from Latin American countries who will vote against Abbott.

As Breitbart Texas reported, Lopez Obrador has called for Hispanics to oppose Republican politicians such as Abbott and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis over their stances on immigration and border security. The Mexican politician has even called for Hispanics in the US to vote against those politicians.
