AMERICAN CITIES IN MELTDOWN - A LOOK AT BLACK RACISM AND VIOLENCE IN CITIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY - Racist Mayor: Dallas’ Eric Johnson Equity plan orders Dallas cops to arrest as many black people as Asians.

Racist Mayor: Dallas’ Eric Johnson

Equity plan orders Dallas cops to arrest as many black people as Asians.

[Make sure to read Daniel Greenfield’s contributions in Jamie Glazov’s new book: Barack Obama’s True Legacy: How He Transformed America.]

Earlier this year, the Dallas Morning News fired one of its reporters for calling the city’s mayor “bruh”. The reporter was white and the city’s mayor is a thin-skinned racist.

“Gotta love when folks let their inherent biases show. I get to be addressed as ‘bruh’ by someone who writes for my daily local paper whom I’ve never met,” Johnson ranted.

The reporter was fired after she was asked if she would have called Mayor Eric Johnson “bruh” if he wasn’t black. Johnson’s strategy of accusing his critics of being racists was working.

After Johnson took office in 2019, the numbers of murders shot up from 210 to 252. By April 2023, there were already over 90 murders in the city making for the 7th highest urban homicide rate in America. During his first year in office, Chief Renee Hall, the first black woman to run the department, was forced out for trying to limit the damage from the violent BLM race riots.

During a City Council meeting, Johnson attacked Chief Hall for using tear gas against BLM rioters throwing bricks at police officers and urged pro-crime activists to “share their concerns regarding the city’s response to the protests.” The pro-race riot policy led to black supremacists chanting, “burn it down” and taking over restaurants and threatening people next year.

“I love seeing all the protests, and I hope they translate into people voting for policy shifts,” Johnson had said.

In 2021, after the worst death toll in a generation, Johnson and the Dallas City Council cheered the passage of an “equity” resolution mandating that everything would revolve around race.

The equity resolution blamed the city’s problems on “systemic racism” and pledged Dallas’ “commitment to racial equity” by using “equity principles” to tackle the budget

While Dallas politicians warned about reduced federal aid and the need for ‘belt tightening’, the 2022-2023 budget proposed $22.5 million in equity spending for things like “documenting the achievements of underserved communities.”

At a time when the top concerns of Dallas residents were public safety and broken streets, the Dallas Equity Plan began with a fashionably woke “land acknowledgement” declaring that the land really belonged to the Comanche (the Comanches had actually invaded the area in the 18th century and attacked the Apaches.) before announcing that Dallas would become the “nation’s most equitable city”. In reality, poverty rates make Dallas one of the least equitable.

Dallas County’s population dropped in the last two years. Mayor Johnson has accomplished the seemingly impossible by getting people to leave Dallas. A poll gave two reasons for the shrinkage that are familiar to leftist mayors all across the country: crime and homelessness.

The Dallas Equity Plan embraces crime and urban blight by making it the city’s goal to “decrease the percent of historically disadvantaged communities arrested for low-level offenses” by reducing the number of arrests of the “disadvantaged” from 7,585 to 6,068.

Equity requires measuring the “ratio between the number of black and Asian individuals per 1,000 arrested by the Dallas Police Department.“

Dallas cops had better arrest the same ratio of black and Asian criminals. And that may be a problem as black people are being arrested 11 times more often than Asians. Either the Dallas PD needs to find reasons to arrest a lot more Asians or arrest fewer black criminals. And what equity really translates into is much less law enforcement because fighting crime is racist.

While the Dallas Equity Plan proposed going easy on criminals if they were the right race, Johnson was conducting a victory tour claiming that he had defeated crime. That would come as news to the city’s crime victims. By the end of July, 150 people had been murdered.

Even though homicides were up 10%, Mayor Eric Johnson basked in adulation from the Washington Post and FOX News which bizarrely headlined his appearance as “Dallas Democrat mayor bucks crime trend” and “Americans rank Dallas safest city”.

Nothing says safety city like being ranked as having the 7th highest murder rate.

If over 150 corpses makes for a safe city that’s bucking the time trend, what does an unsafe city look like?  Crime is so bad in Dallas that a plainclothes officer in an unmarked car recently got into a shootout with carjackers. If only he had practiced equity by letting them take the car.

Much like Buttigieg, Johnson is using the media to build up a myth of turning Dallas around before a likely run for higher office. Much has been made of him running unopposed in 2023.

“Nearly 99 percent of Dallas voters voted for me for mayor. I won the election with 98.7 percent of the vote,” Johnson bragged about winning an unopposed election.

Rather than universal popularity, it meant that potential opponents weren’t able to get on the ballot. And Johnson was so beloved that he won 42,000 votes in a city of 1.8 million.

Over 3,000 people who bothered to vote in a pointless race protested by writing in other candidates including Ron Swanson, J.R. Ewing, Kermit the Frog, George W. Bush, Allen West, “anyone else,” “not him,” “anyone but him,” and “not that guy.”

“Bruh” got 2 votes.

In contrast to the media hype about Mayor Johnson’s popularity or the city’s turnaround, the number of people who believed that Dallas is headed in the right direction fell from 40% when he was first elected to 28%.

As Dallas implodes, Mayor Johnson’s defense is racism. That’s why he hurled a false racism accusation at a reporter who pushed back on his claims that everything was great.

Crying racism covers a multitude of sins.

Before his previous election, Johnson claimed that “redistricting is used to keep the power structure in the South the same-white folks on top, people of color underneath.”

“Is there anyone out there who still doesn’t understand how deeply racism is engrained in our society?” he demanded another time.

Dallas has a black mayor, a black city manager, and an all-black city council leadership even though there are more whites and Latinos than black residents in Dallas. So where is the racism still coming from? Apparently it’s coming from anyone who calls Mayor Eric Johnson “bruh”.

D.C. Crime So Intense That Locals Are Afraid to Walk Places, Go out at Night

The crime situation in Washington, D.C., is so dire that residents are afraid to walk anywhere, opting instead to drive short distances, and are nervous to go out after dark, fearing they will be violently attacked on the city’s streets.

In interviews with the Washington Post, a handful of residents detailed the precautions they have started to take to avoid falling victim to the city’s growing violent crime problem, where murders are up almost 30 percent, and robberies have jumped nearly 70 percent since last year.

“It’s so ridiculous,” 44-year-old Stephanie Heishman, a D.C. resident, told the Post about what she must do to avoid crime. “On the other hand, I don’t want to randomly get shot.”

Heishman said she has started driving short distances rather than walking. She said she made the decision after there was a gunfight outside her apartment building in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of D.C.

Likewise, three men were murdered on her block in August.

Another D.C. local named James, 58 years old, said he and his husband moved to Maryland after they were violently attacked alongside another couple in 2019 by a group of young people near Dupont Circle. More recently, James said he had a bottle thrown at his head while walking to Whole Foods.

Ronald Moten, a 53-year-old D.C. resident, told the Post he avoids going to the nearby gas station at night for fear of being robbed by criminals in the Hillcrest neighborhood.

Twenty-eight-year-old Nora Fanfalone said she now uses the service entrance to her apartment so she is not attacked on her way inside her building or a witness to a shooting.

So far this year, there have been close to 4,000 violent crime incidents reported in D.C. — a nearly 40 percent increase compared to 2022. Overall, crime is up almost 30 percent.

Democrat AG Bypasses D.C. Crime Surge to Probe Conservative Leonard Leo

Washington, DC, Attorney General Brian Schwalb (D) is bypassing the district’s skyrocketing crime to exhaust his office’s resources on investigating the Federalist Society’s Leonard Leo.

Late last month, Politico reported that Schwalb’s office had launched an investigation into Leo, who was influential in the nominations of all of former President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court justices.

“Washington D.C. Attorney General Brian Schwalb is investigating judicial activist Leonard Leo and his network of nonprofit groups, according to a person with direct knowledge of the probe,” Politico detailed. “The scope of the investigation is unclear.”

News of the investigation into Leo comes as D.C. crime surges, wreaking havoc on communities and residents living in the nation’s capital.

Year-to-date crime statistics, as of September 12, show there have been 190 homicides in D.C. so far this year — up nearly 30 percent compared to the same period last year. Likewise, sex crimes are up six percent, assaults with dangerous weapons have increased three percent, and robberies have skyrocketed by 69 percent compared to last year.

Overall, there have been 1,000 more violent crime incidents across D.C. — up almost 40 percent — so far this year compared to 2022.

Chart via MPDC

Other crime categories have also increased. Motor vehicle thefts, for example, have increased a whopping 110 percent compared to the same period in 2022. Vehicle thefts are so high in D.C. that incidents had surpassed 5,000 before year’s end.

Other thefts and arson have increased as well. There have been nearly 9,000 thefts across D.C. so far this year, a 23 percent increase, and nine arson incidents, a 200 percent increase. The figures have helped tick up property crimes by 27 percent.

Altogether, crime in D.C. has increased almost 30 percent with close to 24,000 incidents from January 1 to September 12.

Despite the surge in crime, Schwalb has moved forward with his soft-on-crime agenda. Most significantly, Schwalb lobbied heavily to approve changes to the D.C. criminal code that reduced criminal penalties such as cutting maximum penalties for crimes like armed carjacking.

Though Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) opposed changes to the D.C. criminal code, along with many House and Senate Democrats as well as President Joe Biden, Schwalb authored a Washington Post op-ed asking Democrats to support the changes.

“… longer sentences — which disproportionately adversely impact Black and brown communities — do not make communities safer. Indeed, just the opposite,” Schwalb wrote in February.

Schwalb’s support for reducing criminal penalties in D.C. came as no surprise, as he has long claimed that tough-on-crime policies do not reduce crime.

“… the idea that increasing punishment and sanction is going to make us safer is something that I’m not sure the data or our history confirms,” Schwalb told DCist at the beginning of the year. “In fact, I think if we learn from our history, we know that oftentimes by trying to be very tough on crime and locking people up, we didn’t make ourselves safer as a community.”

Rural populations surpassed urban ones for the first time in 30 years

Á la the Jeopardy! game show, here’s “Public Infestations” for $200:

These resilient pests swarm, devour and destroy, then move on to a new locale.

Oh, you said “What are locusts?” I’m sorry, the correct answer was “What are Democrats?”

Yesterday, Bloomberg published a report highlighting new details (and therefore additional fallout), of the years-long drastic population shifts from blue hellscapes to red havens; from the article:

Rural America is booming, but the population growth that’s boosting local economies is also putting a strain on everything from schools to housing and roads.

The influx — which started during the pandemic — has continued even as Covid restrictions have lifted. The latest government data released just last month points to a second year of increases in 2022 after years of declines.

The number of people living in non-metro areas outgrew the urban population for the first time in three decades in 2021, and the rural population expanded again last year.

For the first time in 30 years, more people are living in “rural” areas than in “urban” areas… and we all know exactly why.

The modern Democrat party has itself undergone a dramatic transformation; having abandoned all pretenses of being a patriotic and pro-American apparatus, its politicians now openly scorn the ordinary people they once claimed to represent. The “green” agenda of the Democrats demands the destruction of the oil, coal, and natural gas energy sectors and poof! There goes millions of American jobs. They beat the little guy into enslavement with exorbitant taxes and burdensome regulations. They pour hundreds of billions of dollars into Ukraine’s coffers, and toss pennies at Maui. They turn away American children from public school to make room for the masses of illegal aliens—honestly though, this betrayal is just as well.

The writers of the article note that the relocation of denizens from the city to the country is “putting a strain on everything” but especially, the people forced to absorb these blue refugees. They write that the “trend is sparking resentment as house prices rise” stating that the “top 10 rural counties” that have experienced the highest influx of blue refugees have seen home prices soar by “more than 40% over the past three years.” But, it’s also fostering animus in another way too: these blue refugees are bringing their blue politics with them:

‘There’s a lot of resentment,’ said Maggie Doherty, a writer and columnist who lives in Flathead County, Montana. ‘There’s bumper stickers that say ‘Montana’s full’ or ‘Don’t California my Montana.’’

In some places, the influx of new residents is deepening political divides in an already polarized country.

‘There’s been a lot of battles politically over building and where to build,’ said Pete Fuller, who lives in Jackson County and heads the Democratic Party there. ‘There are organized groups that do not want affordable housing being built.’

We’ve been told that the people fleeing the Democrat strongholds of California, Illinois, and New York are conservatives, but I’ve long argued that that’s not quite the case. As a general rule, these blue refugees fall into one of two camps. They’re either hardcore and impressively empty-headed leftists who can’t understand why homes have become so unaffordable or traffic so bad; or they’re traditional conservative Democrats, who just aren’t radical leftists. But they are not, as a whole, solid and principled constitutionalists, and when they arrive at a place with a functioning society and civic sanity, it provides them with the latitude to still vote Democrat.

They are, in other words, locusts, and as Rush Limbaugh’s old phrase goes, “Liberalism is spreading misery equally.”

‘I Won’t Be Silent”: Democrat Official Who Vowed to Dismantle Minneapolis Police Department Wants Justice for Carjacking

Shivanthi Sathanandan, an anti-police Democrat party official in Minnesota, wants tougher crime laws after being violently attacked during a carjacking in Minneapolis.

An anti-police Democrat party official in Minnesota wants tougher crime laws after being violently attacked during a carjacking in Minneapolis.

Shivanthi Sathanandan holds the position of second vice chairwoman for the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL), the New York Post reported Thursday.

She explained in a social media post on Wednesday what transpired during the incident:

“Four very young men, all carrying guns, beat me violently down to the ground in front of our kids. The young men held our neighbors up at gunpoint when they ran over and tried to help me,” she wrote, noting she suffered a broken leg, deep lacerations on her head, bruises, and cuts.

The men knew what they were doing, she continued, and there was no doubt in her mind they had done the same thing to other victims:

I’m now part of the statistics. I wasn’t silent when I fought these men to save my life and my babies, and I won’t be silent now. We need to get illegal guns off of our streets, catch these young people who are running wild creating chaos across our city and HOLD THEM IN CUSTODY AND PROSECUTE THEM.

PERIOD.

Look at my face. REMEMBER ME when you are thinking about supporting letting juveniles and young people out of custody to roam our streets instead of HOLDING THEM ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS.

These criminals will not win. We need to take back our city. And this will not be the last you hear from me about this.

Sathanandan then thanked police officers and others for coming to help.

Law enforcement confirmed the carjacking that happened in the Folwell area but have yet to arrest any suspects in the case.

According to the Post, Sathanandan said in a social media post three years ago that she and fellow activists were “going to dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department” because it had failed citizens.

Her comments came after the death of George Floyd:

Social media users were quick to comment on Sathanadan’s most recent post, one person writing, “This is what happens when you dismantle a police department. Sorry you went through this.”

“You wanted a lawless city though,” another user replied, while someone else said, “Votes have consequences. Nice job!”

In June 2020, members of the Minneapolis City Council unanimously approved a pledge seeking to replace its police department with a “community-led public safety system,” Breitbart News reported at the time.

The outlet noted it was part of a campaign headed by Black Lives Matter activists and leftist Democrats to defund police after violent protests and riots erupted in the wake of Floyd’s death.

Nevada rapper Kenjuan McDaniel was arrested on a murder charge after La Vegas police alleged he “confessed to the murder in his (song) lyrics.”

The 25-year-old accused was taken into police custody August 29. He has been held on one charge of open murder with a deadly weapon, a news release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said.

Bail was set Thursday at $1 million with electronic monitoring, according to court records.

The victim, identified by several outlets as Randall Wallace, 32, was found shot to death in an apartment complex in 2021. Police claimed the victim had been in an argument with three suspects who were unidentified at that point.

According to the arrest report obtained by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, McDaniel released the song, titled Fadee Free, which police alleged contains details about the killing not known by the general public, along with the music video on YouTube.
In the arrest report, police broke down lyrics from the song that apparently lined up the details of the homicide.

“Brought it with that fire, hear that ‘ah’, see your body twitching,” raps McDaniel, which according to the Review-Journal, matched up with Wallace twitching before he died, police alleged.

Another lyric, reported by 8 News Now, features McDaniel rapping: “Parked the car, doubled back on feet, the smartest way to slide,” which police also aligned with the killing.

In the song McDaniel also allegedly refers to a nickname which 8 News Now reported was Wallace’s, according to police.

McDaniel is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Sept. 14.

Brooklyn parking dispute leads to double shooting at Home Depot

Theodore Parisienne/New York Daily News/TNS

A dispute over a parking spot in the central Brooklyn Home Depot erupted in gunfire, leaving a woman shot in the head and her boyfriend badly wounded, according to witnesses and police.

The shooting took place in the parking lot of the hardware store’s Bedford-Stuyvesant location shortly after noon Saturday, according to the NYPD.

“The guy pulls on the side of them, he starts shooting at them,” Stacee Glenn, 40, said. Glenn said the male victim shouted, “I gave him the parking spot!”

The couple –– believed to be in their mid-20s –– raced out of the parking lot in their white Hyndai Sonata after the shooting, stopping several blocks away at the intersection of Nostrand and Myrtle Aves. to call for help.

The woman was slumped over and nonresponsive.

“He stopped and said ‘my girlfriend and I had been shot’,” Glenn said. “I guess he was trying to bring her to the hospital.”

Yadelyn Pena, 14, told the Daily News she was outside the Duane Reade on Nostrand and Myrtle when the car came to a stop.

“I guess he realized he was too late, so he jumped outside the car and called for help,” she said, adding that the man had wounds to his leg and his back.

“I was like, what’s the matter? What’s wrong? And he was like, ‘my girlfriend, look,’” Pena said.

“And I look in the car and there’s blood dripping from her head.” she added. “I saw her.”

“The guy in the parking lot – he wanted my parking spot,” Pena recalled the man saying. “I gave it to him and he started shooting at us!”

Three bullet holes could be seen in the Hyundai’s driver’s side door, which was facing the wrong direction on Nostrand Ave. Outside the front passenger door, a brown paper Home Depot bag lay stained with blood.

Pena said she dialed 911 immediately.

“The cops took like ten minutes to come. It looked like she was dead.”

“I saw her fingers moving,” the teenager added. “I’m hoping she’s okay.”

Pena’s mother, 38-year-old Anlly Burgos, said she tried to comfort the woman until help arrived.

“I held her hand telling her she was going to be okay,” she said. “Then the police came and they told everybody to back up.”

“She couldn’t talk,” Burgos said of the victim. “The only time she talked was to tell the police her name and then after that she was dead silent.”

The frantic boyfriend feared the worst.

“Her boyfriend was really really distressed. Sad. Calling for help,” she added. “He was saying, ‘I got shot in my back and my leg but just make sure she’s okay.'”

Cops said both victims were transported to nearby Kings County Hospital, where the woman was listed in critical condition.
