EAGLE PASS, Texas — According to a source within CBP, eleven “Special Interest Aliens” from Middle Eastern nations were encountered in less than one week in the Border Patrol’s Del Rio Sector. During the week of October 8 to October 14, Border Patrol agents apprehended six Iranian nationals, three Lebanese nationals, one Egyptian national, and one Saudi Arabian national that made landfall in Texas on the banks of the Rio Grande.

The source, not authorized to speak to the media, told Breitbart Texas migrants were single adult males considered Special Interest Aliens who arrived from countries subject to travel warnings by the U.S. State Department due to terrorism. The source says, absent any significant intelligence indicting the migrants pose a known threat to the United States, they will be released into the U.S. to pursue asylum claims.

The source says the continued encounter of Special Interest migrants as tensions rise in the Middle East due to the recent Hamas attacks in Israel is alarming. “Things are developing so quickly in that region and migrants from that area continuing to arrive at the southern border presents an intelligence challenge for us,” the source told Breitbart Texas.

According to the source, if the migrants are not “Known or Suspected Terrorists” (KSA) based on a listing maintained by the FBI at the Terrorist Screening Center (TSC), the lack of diplomatic relations with some of the special interest countries makes the return of the migrants difficult if not impossible.

As reported by Breitbart Texas, more than 61,000 Special Interest Aliens were encountered by the Border Patrol in fiscal year 2023, which ended on September 30.  The number of migrants from Special Interest countries has climbed by more than 140 percent from fiscal year 2022 when more than 25,500 were apprehended. In all, more than 86,000 Special Interest Aliens have illegally entered the United States during the previous two years.

According to a 2019 DHS fact sheet, the term “Special Interest Alien” is defined as follows:

Generally, an SIA is a non-U.S. person who, based on an analysis of travel patterns, potentially poses a national security risk to the United States or its interests.  Often such individuals or groups are employing travel patterns known or evaluated to possibly have a nexus to terrorism.  DHS analysis includes an examination of travel patterns, points of origin, and/or travel segments that are tied to current assessments of national and international threat environments.

This does not mean that all SIAs are “terrorists,” but rather that the travel and behavior of such individuals indicate a possible nexus to nefarious activity (including terrorism) and, at a minimum, provide indicators that necessitate heightened screening and further investigation.  The term SIA does not indicate any specific derogatory information about the individual – and DHS has never indicated that the SIA designation means more than that.

According to the source, in fiscal year 2023, migrants from more than 280 countries were apprehended by the Border Patrol, including those from 34 countries listed as Special Interest countries. Among the remainder of Special Interest Aliens entering the United States during fiscal year 2023 were more than 5,600 Afghans, 3,000 Egyptians, nearly 2,500 Somalis, 2,500 citizens of Bangladesh, nearly 1,300 Pakistanis, 1,200 Eritreans, and almost 1,000 nationals of Tajikistan and Kazakstan.

Nearly 1,700 SIAs in fewer numbers from Iran, Syria, Morrocco, Jordan, Djibouti, Iraq, Yemen, Turkmenistan, Algeria, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and the United Arab Emirates also made entry into the United States.

The SIAs enter in small numbers daily at almost all parts of the southwest border. As reported by Breitbart Texas, larger numbers of migrants from outside the hemisphere, including those from Special Interest countries, are more frequently encountered in Arizona.

During one recent trip to the border region near Lukeville, Arizona, Breitbart Texas observed more than 300 migrants surrender to awaiting Border Patrol agents from a multitude of non-Spanish speaking countries. The migrant group included citizens from mostly western African nations, the Middle East, India, Pakistan, and China.

Pentagon Doesn’t Deny 2,000 U.S. Troops Given ‘Prepare-to-Deploy’ Orders to Support Israel in War with Hamas ...BUT NO TROOPS ON NARCOMEX BORDER!

The Pentagon on Monday did not deny a report that said roughly 2,000 U.S. troops were told to be “prepared to deploy” if needed to assist Israel in its war against Hamas.

“I don’t have more to provide at this time. I might be able to give you more details later, but at this time, I just don’t have anything more specific to add,” said Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh, when asked about the report during a press gaggle.

The report, by the Wall Street Journal, outlined roughly 2,000 troops have been told to prepare for potential deployment to support Israel. Those troops would include those already currently stationed in the Middle East and Europe, of which there are tens of thousands. The report said it is unclear how many would go into Israel.

Officials told the WSJ the troops are tasked with missions like advising and medical support. No specific types of troops were specified, only that they are “from across the U.S. armed services.”

According to the report, “They aren’t intended to serve in a combat role, the officials said. No infantry have been put on prepare-to-deploy order.”

Israeli Defense Force spokesman Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus on Monday said Israel would not request for U.S. soldiers to fight in Israel.

“The fighting will be done by the IDF,” he said, according to Visegrad 24.

Singh said there is already a small team augmenting the military presence at the U.S. embassy in Israel, to assist with hostage recovery efforts.

“On hostage recovery, as you’ve heard us say, we’re providing planning and intelligence support to Israel, which is in the lead.  We do not have — we do have a small number of personnel in Israel in support of this effort, as augmentation to the embassy staff,” she said.

“I characterize it as an advise and assist role.  They are there to help support and provide intelligence to the Israeli Defense Force, when it comes to hostage recovery.  I wouldn’t get into more details, other than that, but it is really to advise and assist,” she said.

There is an unknown number of American hostages in Gaza, after Hamas militants launched terrorist attacks across southern Israel, reportedly killing more than 1,300 and kidnapping more than 100, including Americans.

Report: Biden Admin to Ask Congress for $100 Billion in Ukraine, Israel Aid

The Biden administration plans to ask Congress for $100 billion in Ukraine and Israel aid, Bloomberg reported Tuesday.

The outlet reported:

President Joe Biden is considering a supplemental request of approximately $100 billion that would include defense assistance for Israel and Ukraine alongside border security funding and aid to nations in the Indo-Pacific, including Taiwan, according to people familiar with the matter.

Biden has pledged support for Israel in the wake of the deadly attack earlier this month by Hamas, a group designated by the US and EU as a terrorist organization. Aid for Israel enjoys broad bipartisan support in the US Congress.

There has been speculation since Hamas attacked Israel that the administration would try to tie funding for Ukraine and Israel together after House Republicans successfully stripped funding for Ukraine from a short-term government funding bill. That request was only $24 billion compared to the $100 billion it is now asking for to fund both contingencies and reportedly Taiwan.

Donald Trump Jr. chimed in on the matter, posting on X, “How about NO!!!!”

The package would also include border security funding aimed at getting Republicans on board.

Cody Sargent, a spokesman for the conservative Heritage Foundation, posted:

This “border security” funding is a trap. It would give Biden more money to speed up his conveyor belt of illegal immigrants into the country — not turn off the flow.

No conservative can support border funding without policy change.

According to Bloomberg, the details of the package are still being worked out, and it is intended to cover an entire fiscal year.

Punchbowl News reporter Andrew Desiderio posted on X that the funds would be for a “full year.”

“Can confirm the $100 billion number has been floating around the Hill today as senators wait for the final package,” he posted.

“Important to note this number is for a full year, so the Ukraine portion will be massive,” he wrote.

The $24 billion request for Ukraine was intended to cover three months.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said on Tuesday he expected the administration to send the request by “the end of this week.”

“We’d like to get the supplemental package moved as quickly as possible because the needs are great in both Israel and Ukraine,” he said, according to the report.
