NIKKI HALEY FOR 'CHEAP' LABOR TO SERVE HER CORPORAT PAYMASTERS - Nikki Haley in 2015: Americans Should Not Call Illegal Aliens ‘Criminals’ Because ‘They’re Not’

Bensman, author of last year’s Overrun: How Joe Biden Unleashed the Greatest Border Crisis in American History, explains that the administration’s policies opened the border wide for illegal aliens. Anticipating a surge of illegal aliens resulting from the May termination of Title 42, the Biden administration funneled hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens into the country by enabling them to pre-schedule their “legal” entry through the CBP One app. A surge at the border occurred nonetheless. The overwhelming numbers of illegal border crossings and overworked agents also resulted in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) losing track of 85,000 unaccompanied alien children.

Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R), now running in the Republican presidential primary, previously said Americans should not describe illegal aliens “as criminals,” suggesting that doing so is “disrespectful.”

In July 2015, a month after then-GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump announced his candidacy with a speech centered on stemming illegal immigration, Haley joined a panel with the Aspen Institute moderated by then-CEO Walter Isaacson.

Isaacson, in his final question, asked Haley “As a family of immigrants from India, how does that inform your thinking on the immigration debate and what do you feel about the tone of the immigration debate as it has recently turned?”

Haley, in response, said that while Americans are rightfully frustrated with illegal immigration at the United States-Mexico border, she urged the audience not to use language like “criminals” to describe illegal aliens because “they’re not.” She said:

So I think that what we have to remember and what I’ve always believed is that we’re a country of laws. That is what’s made us strong so it’s incredibly frustrating for a lot of people when they see the illegal immigrants being able to come across. It really is astonishing that after all these years, D.C. can’t figure out how to build a wall. It really is, after all of what they spend.

Having said that, we are a country of immigrants. I am the proud daughter of Indian parents who reminded us every day how blessed we are to live in this country. They resent when people come here illegally. But let’s keep in mind, these people who are wanting to come here, they’re wanting to come for a better life too. They have kids too. They have a heart too, so we don’t need to be disrespectful. We don’t need to talk about them as criminals, they’re not. They’re families that want a better life and they’re desperate to get here.
[Emphasis added]

What we need to do is make sure we have a set of laws that we follow and we go through with that. I think that some things have been said that are unfortunate and wrong but I think we also need to remember, especially for all of us … tone and communication matters and people matter. We don’t ever need to talk about this in a cold-hearted way … be kinder than necessary. [Emphasis added]

Haley’s prior comments are contrasted against her recent statements, wherein she has vowed a “catch and deport” policy where the federal government is barred from releasing illegal aliens into the U.S. interior.

“What we need to do is when you catch them, you deport them back from where they came,” Haley told Breitbart News Washington Bureau Chief Matt Boyle in an interview last year.

“You can’t allow them in this country. My parents always said, ‘If someone doesn’t follow the law to come into this country, they won’t follow the law when they get into this country.’ We have got to stop the bleeding,” she said.

Poll Shows Biden’s Migration Is a Top Problem in 2024 Election

Immigration will be the most important political issue for Americans in 2024 — except for the current war with nuclear-armed Russia, according to a poll for the Associated Press.

“35% cite immigration and the border wall as a top concern, an increase from 27% last year,” said the December 2023 poll conducted by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

Immigration lost the top slot to foreign policy because only 22 percent of Democrats describe it as a top issue.

The issue of “foreign policy” scored higher at 38 percent — just above immigration’s score of 35 percent — because the largely non-partisan issue is very important to both Republicans and Democrats.

President Joe Biden’s migration beat inflation and the economy as top issues. Inflation scored 30 percent and “economy” scored 24 percent, although both are worsened by Biden’s policy of importing many wage-cutting, rent-spiking migrants.

Among Republicans, immigration was the top issue for 55 percent, far ahead of “foreign policy” at 46 percent, inflation at 41 percent, and the economy at 32 percent.

The dominant role of migration in GOP politics leaves little room for GOP legislators to make giveaway migration deals with Biden.

For example, Biden is holding hostage the expected funds for the Ukraine war with Russia because he wants to get congressional funding for more migration during 2024. So far, that ploy has failed, and the establishment GOP has voted against the combined migration and Ukraine funding request.

The rising public concern for foreign policy has likely been caused by Biden’s support for the war against Russia, which crossed the Ukraine-Russian border in 2022 to seize Russian-populated areas in eastern Ukraine, including the Crimean peninsula.

Biden has spent more than $75 billion to stop the Russian move across Ukraine’s borders.

The rising public worry about migration began to take off in 2014, jumped in 2016, and jumped against this year because of Biden’s pro-migration policy.

The national focus on migration was announced on January 2, just as government officials reported news that Biden’s pro-migration border chief welcomed more than 300,000 migrants across the southern border in December 2023.

The record inflow does not include the roughly 50,000 “gotaways” who successfully sneak across the border each month. So Biden’s December 2023 migration was greater than the number of U.S. babies born in December.

Many polls show the public increasingly opposes Biden’s invitation to millions of economic migrants.

In New York, 62 percent of Catholics described legal migration as a burden, and just 27 percent describe it as a benefit, according to an October poll by Siena College for the New York Times.

A majority of Americans say migration is an invasion and the public increasingly rejects the Cold War-era narrative that the United States remains a “Nation of Immigrants.”

Mayor Eric Adams Says New York City ‘Out of Room, Literally’ While Giving Free Hotel Rooms to Border Crossers

Mayor Eric Adams (D) says New York City is “out of room, literally” with the arrival of more than 160,000 border crossers and illegal aliens since the spring of 2022. At the same time, though, Adams’ administration continues giving free hotel rooms to new arrivals.

In an interview with FOX5 NY’s Rosanna Scotto, Adams warned again that border crossers and illegal aliens will soon be sleeping on the city streets if the rate of illegal immigration under President Joe Biden continues.

“We’re not just saying we’re out of room as a sound bite — we’re out of room, literally,” Adams said. “People are going to be eventually sleeping on the streets.”

Adams also claimed that there is nothing he can do to revoke New York City’s sanctuary policy which shields illegal aliens from being turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

“We cannot by law tell someone if they come into the city, ‘You can’t come into the city,'” Adams said. “We can’t even turn them over to ICE … the law states that we cannot notify ICE. I cannot break the law and enforce the law.”

Scotto pressed Adams as to why his administration has continued funneling billions to border crossers and illegal aliens — via free hotel rooms, food, city-run shelters, free cellphones, and other services — if the city is at a breaking point.

For instance, the iconic Roosevelt Hotel in midtown Manhattan has been transformed into a migrant camp where more than 70,000 have passed through its luxe lobby before moving out to other hotels and shelters.

Adams suggested that New York City is “being inundated” and that, as a result, city services for border crossers and illegal aliens will be cut down to “food, shelter, clothing, [and] that’s it.”

Days ago, Adams said New Yorkers can soon expect to see their quality of life downgraded tremendously because of budget cuts that are being imposed to pay for border crossers and illegal aliens.

Every day, the Biden administration releases about 5,000 border crossers and illegal aliens into the United States interior — many ending up in New York City, where they can work off the books, receive protection from the city’s sanctuary policy, and enjoy free housing for some time, paid for by local taxpayers.

Americans Donate $55 Million to Fund Texas Gov. Abbott’s Border Wall, Half-Million to Transport Migrants to Other States

Americans have donated more than $55 million dollars to Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s “Operation Lone Star” to help fund construction of a border wall in his state, which is being overwhelmed by illegal immigration.

“Join our historic efforts to secure the border,” the governor’s Operation Lone Star website requests, providing links to donation pages for border wall funding, funding to transport illegal aliens to so-called “sanctuary cities” outside the state who claim to welcome them, and border security funding.

A total of $56 million has been donated, as of December 8, 2023:

  • $55,427,025 to help fund the border wall,
  • $460,196 to help fund transportation of migrants,
  • $102,689 to help fund Texas border security

To-date, about 12 miles of border wall have been built by the state, at an estimated cost of more than $20 million per mile.

In April 2022, Governor Abbott directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to begin the voluntary transportation of migrants to sanctuary cities.

Since that time, Texas has bused:

  • Over 12,500 migrants to Washington, D.C. since April 2022
  • Over 31,200 migrants to New York City since August 2022
  • Over 25,300 migrants to Chicago since August 2022
  • Over 3,400 migrants to Philadelphia since November 2022
  • Over 11,800 migrants to Denver since May 18
  • Over 1,200 migrants to Los Angeles since June 14

But, now that self-proclaimed sanctuary cities like Chicago have started passing measures to keep out the buses of illegal migrants they claim to welcome, Texas has turned to air transportation, Gov. Abbott reported earlier this month:

“Sanctuary city Chicago started obstructing and targeting our busing mission. Texas will now expand our operation to include flights to Chicago. Until Biden steps up to secure the border, we will continue to provide overwhelmed Texas border towns with much-needed relief.”

Texas' first migrant flight departed El Paso on Tuesday, December 19 and arrived in Chicago that evening with over 120 migrants.

Democrat mayors of sanctuary cities - such as Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, and Denver Mayor Mike Johnston – have begun complaining about being forced to make good on their promise of sanctuary and are calling on the Biden Administration to provide help.
