Gov. Abbott Announces ‘BREAKING HUGE NEWS’ About Texas’ Immigration Law
“BREAKING HUGE NEWS,” Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced on social media Monday, cheering a federal appeals court ruling on his state’s immigration law that had been blocked by a lower court.
“Federal appeals court allows Texas immigration law to take effect,” wrote:
“Law enforcement officers in Texas are now authorized to arrest & jail any illegal immigrants crossing the border.”
“Obviously this is the case unless the Supreme Court intervenes by March 9,” Gov. Abbott followed up. The ruling stays the enforcement of the Texas law until that date, in order to give the U.S. Supreme Court the opportunity to take up the case.
The law had been set to go into effect on March 5, but a lower court blocked it, as CNN Politics explains:
“Last week, a federal judge in Austin, Texas, blocked the state government from implementing Senate Bill 4, which would allow state law enforcement authorities to arrest and detain people they suspect of entering the country illegally.”
The Biden Administration has been aggressively fighting Texas' efforts to secure its border from an overwhelming invasion of illegal immigrants - not only in court, but on the ground. Biden has even ordered U.S. Border Patrol agents, who greatly support Gov. Abbott's efforts, to cut down border wire fencing installed by the state.
AZ Gov. Hobbs Vetoes Bill Allowing Police to Arrest the Illegals Overwhelming Her State
Even though her state continues to be overwhelmed by illegal immigration, Democrat Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs vetoed a bill that would have allowed police to arrest illegal immigrants.
On Monday, Gov. Hobbs vetoed the "Arizona Border Invasion Act" (Senate Bill 1231) which would have made illegal immigration a state crime, thus allowing police to arrest lawbreakers and do the job the Biden Administration has been loath to do.
The bill would have:
- Made it a misdemeanor to illegally enter the state between official ports of entry,
- Made it a felony to enter the state after being deported, and
- Made it a felony to refuse to refuse to comply after having been deemed inadmissible and ordered to leave.
In her veto letter, Gov. Hobbs claims the bill would not have secured the border but, instead, would have hurt Arizona’s businesses and communities, while placing an addition burden on the justice system.
The governor’s veto was not unexpected.
Hobbs – who vetoed 143 bills sent her by the
Republican-controlled legislature –
had previously attacked the border security bill,
calling it "job killing, anti-immigrant legislation
meant to score cheap political points.”Under
Governor Katie Hobbs, illegal alien encounters
between ports of entry by U.S. Border Patrol in
Arizona have surged 51% to 273,519 through
the first four months of FY2024 (Oct.-Jan.), up
from 181,572 in the same period a year earlier.
The increase is entirely due to an onslaught of illegal aliens trying to sneak into the U.S. across the border in the Tucson Sector. In the first four months of FY2024, encounters between ports of entry in the Tucson sector are up 182%, from 88,741 to 250,661, compared to a year earlier. In every one of the first four months of FY2023, border encounters in the sector surged by at least 141%, compared to the same month a year earlier.
Meanwhile, in Texas, the number of U.S. Border Patrol encounters are down sharply, due to the effectiveness of Republican Governor Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star. Through the first four months of Fiscal Year 2024, the number of U.S Border Patrol encounters of illegal aliens between ports of entry in Texas has fallen 27% (from 484,994 to 352,996) compared to the same period year-ago.
And, on Monday, Gov. Abbott announced that a federal appeals court ruled that Texas can employ its own version of the Arizona bill, which had been blocked by a lower court.
Texas’ Senate Bill 4, which allows state law enforcement to arrest illegally aliens, will take effect on March 9, unless the U.S. Supreme Court intervenes.

SHOCK: 30 Percent of Migrants Entering Mexico Have STDs, Warns NGO
An NGO that closely works with migrants in Mexico’s Southern border is warning the public that three out of every ten migrants arriving from Central America have syphilis or other types of sexually transmitted diseases.
The revelation came this week when the group “Street Brigade in Support of Women Eliza Martinez” conducted free testing in Tapachula, Chiapas. This Mexican city borders Guatemala and is the primary way most migrants enter the country from the south.
According to statements from Christian Gomez Fuentes, the spokesman for the NGO to Mexico’s EFE news agency, they have noticed a dramatic rise in positive tests for syphilis, primarily among the Cuban population. The trend has been deemed as problematic, however, the group has noted that they have not yet seen a rise in HIV cases. As part of their work, the NGO promotes safe sex practices and encourages migrants to test themselves and their partners routinely.
The issue comes as the southern state of Chiapas continues to be a political hotspot as thousands of migrants continue to arrive each day with the intent of making their way north toward the U.S. border. As Breitbart Texas reported, Mexico’s government has been using the immigration debate as a way to negotiate with the U.S. government for additional sums of money and aid in exchange for helping slow down the flow of migrants. However, Mexican immigration officials have been widely demanding bribes from migrants in exchange for expediting travel documents or for selling them other documents. As Breitbart Texas reported, Mexican immigration agents routinely work with drug cartels who control the border and can extort migrants and collect travel fees under the threat of turning them over to cartel gunmen.

It would be better if we heard more about the quality of life for Americans under the current Democrat administration. By any yardstick, it is not only worse; it is far worse. Why would any American who thinks without prejudice want more corruption, more crime, more terrorism, less safety in the air and anywhere on the ground? VICTORIA WHITE BERGER
Attorney General Merrick Garland Vows to Fight Voter ID Laws: ‘Disadvantage Minorities’
Attorney General Merrick Garland has vowed to fight voter ID laws, which he characterized as a plot to “disadvantage minorities.”
Appearing alongside Vice President Kamala Harris in Selma, Alabama, on Sunday, Garland called voter ID laws and other voter integrity laws “discriminatory, burdensome, and unnecessary.” The two were speaking at an event commemorating the fifty-ninth anniversary of the Bloody Sunday attacks on civil rights marchers in Selma.
Garland recalled the history of voting rights for black Americans since the end of slavery, which he said has “never been steady” into the present day, charging that voter ID laws have made it harder “for millions of eligible voters to vote and to elect the representatives of their choice.”
Garland said at Selma’s Tabernacle Baptist Church:
Those measures include practices and procedures that make voting more difficult; redistricting maps that disadvantage minorities; and changes in voting administration that diminish the authority of locally elected or nonpartisan election administrators.
“Such measures threaten the foundation of our system of government,” he added.
Garland said that he has increased the number of lawyers working in the Voting Section of the Civil Rights Division, referring to voter integrity laws as “discriminatory, burdensome, and unnecessary restrictions on access to the ballot, including those related to mail-in voting, the use of drop boxes, and voter ID requirements.”
“That is why we are working to block the adoption of discriminatory redistricting plans that dilute the vote of black voters and other voters of color,” he said.
Polling shows that a majority of Americans support voter ID laws of some kind, including 60 percent of Democrats.
“A new poll, set to be released Wednesday by Rasmussen Reports, indicates that 75 percent of Americans support voter ID laws that require voters to show photo identification before voting — including 60 percent of Democrats,” Breitbart News reported in 2021. “Only 21 percent oppose such laws.”
