SQUANDERING AMERICA - NO ONE DOES IT BETTER THAN JOJO ON UPPERS - Biden's National Science Foundation Spent Millions in Emergency COVID Funds Last Year. The Spending Had Nothing To Do With COVID.

JOE BIDEN is known as a serial liar, a "public servant" who has somehow managed to accrue tremendous wealth, a race-baiting opportunist, Catholic-in-name-only, and a bought-and-paid-for politician in bed with criminal cartels and foreign foes.  In another era, Joe Biden would have been run out of his country much the same way Benedict Arnold was two and a half centuries ago; in an era when integrity, honor, fortitude, fidelity, and grit have been jettisoned for immorality, unscrupulousness, weakness, betrayal, and craven pliability, however, he is elevated to king sleazeball in a city drowning in sleaze. Since January 2023, President Joe Biden's National Science Foundation (NSF) has spent millions of dollars on grants funded by the American Rescue Plan, Biden's $1.9 trillion COVID stimulus package. The grants have nothing to do with COVID, but they do fund studies on climate change.

The American Rescue Plan, which Biden said would bring "direct relief to families bearing the brunt of the COVID-19 crisis," sent $600 million to the NSF. The agency pledged to use the funding to "support groups of individuals and institutions most strongly affected by the pandemic." Three years after Biden signed the legislation, that money is still going out the door—through research grants that aren't COVID-related.

One July 2023 grant, for example, funded a $246,000 Amherst College study meant to "deepen our understanding of how floodplains have responded to … climatic changes." A more than $7 million grant awarded one month earlier to the University of Texas at Austin will help develop "a learning environment that is welcoming to marginalized and minoritized researchers." The NSF sent another $181,000 to California Polytechnic State University in December to investigate "the structural organization, and changes therein, of a school of fish."

In total, the agency has awarded more than $23 million in American Rescue Plan grants since January 2023 that are unrelated to COVID, federal spending disclosures show.

The revelation undermines congressional Democrats' defense of the spending package, which economists say helped drive inflation to a nearly 40-year high. While Republicans panned the bill as wasteful, arguing that it was not needed to boost the U.S. economy, Democrats touted it as a "lifeline" to struggling Americans.

"This comprehensive COVID relief bill, which President Biden unveiled on his first day in office, includes vital provisions that will help working families get back on their feet and steady the economy," Ohio Democratic congresswoman Marcy Kaptur said in March 2021.

"Working people in the heartland have waited months for an economic lifeline and I'm glad to see that thanks to President Biden's leadership, they are going to get the economic assistance they voted for."

In many cases, however, the funding went to obscure projects that were not tied to the pandemic. In others, recipients of American Rescue Plan funds struggled to spend them in a timely manner.

In the year after the bill's passage, American schools spent just 7 percent of the $122 billion in federal aid the plan allocated to them. Many U.S. districts, meanwhile, spent the funds on bonuses for teachers and administrators.

The American Rescue Plan's $2 trillion price tag also contributed to inflation, according to economists. While Biden last year dismissed the notion that his stimulus spending boosted prices as "bizarre," his own administration concluded in its annual "Economic Report of the President" that such spending "could have contributed to high inflation."

Other economists were more pointed, with the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco saying the American Rescue Plan contributed significantly to inflation. In October 2022, then-House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D., S.C.) said congressional Democrats knew the spending would lead to increased inflation all along.

"Let me make it very clear. All of us are concerned about these rising costs, and all of us knew this would be the case when we put in place this recovery program," Clyburn said on MSNBC. "Any time you put more money into the economy, prices tend to rise."

In addition to the Amherst College grant, the NSF sent $219,000 to Radford University in October to study oyster reef erosion.

"This award is funded in whole or in part under the American Rescue Plan of 2021," the Radford grant disclosure states. "Oyster reefs … have suffered major losses due to declining water quality, overharvesting, and diseases. … To better understand and protect these ecosystems, this project focuses on understanding the breakdown (erosion) processes that are occurring in areas where oysters are found."

Neither the White House nor the NSF responded to requests for comment.

DOCTOR EVIL: Jill Biden Forcing Sleepy Joe To Run Again Because She 'Likes Power,' Craves 'Revenge'

The American people deserve better

(edited from Anna Moneymaker/Getty Images)
February 21, 2024

Most Americans, including most Democrats, don't want President Joe Biden to run for reelection. The 81-year-old is obviously unfit to serve another four years in the White House. He should be relaxing on a beach in Delaware, not constantly cheating death on the Air Force One staircase. So why won't he just retire?

One reason Biden has to run again is because Democrats really don't want Kamala Harris to run either. They know she's a terrible candidate, but they don't want to be accused of racism for admitting that in public.

FACT CHECK: Kamala Harris Claims There Is 'No Question' About Her Ability to Lead

That's not the only reason why Biden, sometimes referred to as "Sleepy Joe," is campaigning for a second term. According to presidential historian Douglas Brinkley, the president's wife and primary caregiver, Dr. Jill Biden, Ed.D., was the driving force behind the decision to run again in 2024.

"She is the vital part [of the campaign]. Dr. Jill Biden is it," Brinkley said on Face the Nation over the weekend. The historian went on to recount how the wives of previous presidents such as Harry Truman and Lyndon Johnson ultimately persuaded their husbands not to seek reelection.

Bess Truman "wanted to go back to Independence [Missouri], she didn't like it in Washington," Brinkley said. Lady Bird Johnson persuaded her husband to step down because "his health was bad, he had a bad heart, he was smoking, high blood pressure, tension," and she didn't want to stay in Washington.

"Truman could have stayed on, and Johnson, and they both said no, it's because their wives, their spouse[s], said enough," Brinkley said. "That's not the case with Jill Biden. She likes power. She wants to stay. She wants some sense of revenge."

Brinkley's alarming assessment received hardly any coverage in the mainstream media. At a time when even hardcore Democratic partisans such as Ezra Klein of the New York Times are urging Biden to step aside, the octogenarian is being forced to endure another grueling presidential campaign because his petty wife, who insists on being called "doctor" because of her education degree from the University of Delaware, wants to punish her political enemies.

Americans deserve better.

Nolte: Snickers Hits Back at Joe Biden over State of the Union Smear

The makers of Snickers released a statement Monday hitting back at Joe Biden for smearing the candymaker during last week’s State of the Union address.

His Fraudulency Joe Biden has deliberately done three things to explode inflation in America: 1) an insane amount of unjustified government spending, 2) reduced American energy production when increases in gas prices explode the costs of everything that uses energy to be produced and shipped, and 3) allowed millions upon millions of unvetted illegal border crossers to invade our country, which decreases wages and increases the cost of goods and housing. This is basic supply and demand—the more people, the more demand, the higher the costs.

Hoping to gaslight the public into believing he is not intentionally undermining their standard of living, Biden’s team has invented the term “shrinkflation,” which has nothing to do with inflation. All “shrinkflation” results in less product for the same cost. We’ve all seen it. But what are these corporations supposed to do? The cost of manufacturing and shipping has exploded under Biden, which gives them two options: price that box of Ritz Crackers out of reach or offer fewer crackers within a family budget price.

Listen, I’m no apologist for Big Business. Far from it. But reality is reality. Eggs are a perfect example. When Donald Trump was president, a dozen eggs cost me 99 cents. Last week, I paid over four bucks for that same dozen. But you can’t shrink eggs or a “dozen eggs,” so imagine that same sticker shock with everything.

So, yeah, because of Joe Biden, you’re getting fewer chips and cookies. Not an ideal situation, but better than the alternative, which is a box of Cheerios priced out of your family’s budget. All of this is squarely Biden’s fault. Nevertheless, during his State of the Union, Old Yeller said this:

Too many corporations raise their prices to pad their profits, charging you more and more for less and less. That’s why we’re cracking down on corporations that engage in price gouging or deceptive pricing from food to health care to housing. In fact, snack companies think you won’t notice when they charge you just as much for the same size bag but with fewer chips in it. You get charged the same amount and you got about 10% fewer Snickers in it. Pass Senator Bob Casey’s bill to put a stop to shrinkflation!

What?

Biden wants the federal government to pass a bill that “empowers Federal Trade Commission and state attorneys general to crack down on corporations reducing product size without a reduction in price.”

Yeah, that’s what we want the Feds doing…

The irony here is that Biden’s approval ratings would look even worse if corporations weren’t shrinking package size and we were all paying $9 for a box of Rice Krispies.

Anyway, on Monday, Snickers hit back:

We have not reduced the size of Snickers singles or share size in the U.S. Like many industries, we continue to face high inflation and spikes in material costs; however, we work to absorb these extra costs wherever possible to provide affordable treats and the best value. Final prices are always at the discretion of the retailer, but we make every effort to minimize costs to provide a full range of delicious products.

Let’s be honest… That’s a bit of a dodge. Hunter’s Dad was talking about how quantity has shrunk, such as fewer of those delicious bite-sized Snickers in a bag of those delicious bite-sized Snickers — and my guess is that the quantity has shrunk. But that is not the fault of Snickers. It is solely Biden’s fault and good for Snickers for pushing back.

Still, an honest statement would’ve read like this:

Hell, yes, there are fewer Snickers in every bag, President Roomba. What the hell do you want us to do? Charge $14 for a bag of candy bars? We do that, the only customers we’ll have are dilettante, silver-spooned, overpaid Bursima employees with the munchies. Maybe your time would be better spent closing the border, digging for oil, and cutting spending instead of sitting in the White House residence counting candy bars in the glow of Matlock. I swear there isn’t an ass we wouldn’t kiss for a mean tweet about now.

But that’s just me.

Poll: Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address Fails to Improve His Popularity on Key Issues

President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address last week failed to improve his popularity on key issues among Americans, a new ABC News/Ipsos poll found Sunday; therefore, his campaign received no boost heading into the 2024 presidential election.

On key 2024 issues of Biden’s economy, crime, Hamas’s war, as well as the Ukraine war, Biden’s approval rating “remains unchanged,” the poll found:

  • Economy: 36 percent approval
  • Crime: 35 percent approval
  • Hamas: 30 percent approval
  • Ukraine: 41 percent approval

Biden’s speech, which many said was angry, partisan, and aggressive, was not well received among independents. Thirty-six percent of independents said he performed worse or as expected. Only 25 percent said he performed better than expected.

Some political pundits believe Biden’s speech should have contained an appeal to independents. However, he appears to have directed it toward the far left to secure the Democrat nomination. Previous polling shows the president is not highly favored among his party.

Former President Donald Trump performed better than Biden on many of the key issues, according to the poll: “Trump’s approval ratings for his time as president are higher than Biden on four of seven issues both men were rated on: the economy, inflation, immigration and the situation at the U.S. Mexico border, and crime.”

Trump also scored a better approval rating than Biden among their respective parties, the poll found:

The key difference between the two is how their respective base rates their job. Trump’s approval rating among Republicans is higher for many issues (ratings range by issue from the mid-70s to 90%) than Biden’s among Democrats on the same issues (from 59% to mid-70s).

A plurality (36 percent) of Americans said they trust Trump over Biden (33 percent) to lead the nation. Thirty percent were uncommitted.
