Alabama Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Murdering Pregnant Woman and Her Unborn Child

An Alabama man was sentenced to two concurrent life sentences in prison after pleading guilty to the murders of a pregnant 26-year-old and her unborn child in Georgia, according to the Coweta Judicial Circuit district attorney.

Breanna Burgess, who was 20 weeks pregnant, was found dead early in the morning of July 27, 2022, near Fort Drive and Whitesville Road in LaGrange, Georgia, Atlanta News First reported. District Attorney John Cranford Jr. said she had been stabbed in the throat at least 14 times, and she and her unborn child were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police used cell phone records to locate a friend Burgess was with before she was killed. The friend told officers she had last seen Burgess with 30-year-old Curteze Avery of La Fayette, Alabama, as they were driving away in a neon green Chevrolet Camaro, the district attorney said.

Investigators were able to use traffic cameras to locate the car coming to and from the crime scene, prosecutors said.

Officers found the car at a home in LaGrange a few hours after the murder with blood on the outside of it, Cranford said. Subsequently, investigators obtained a search warrant for both the car and the home and found Avery hiding inside the home, according to the report.

“Police found blood throughout the inside of the car, inside the home, and blood-stained clothes in the washing machine and dryer,” the report states, citing prosecutors.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab performed a DNA analysis and found the blood was a match for Burgess, Cranford said.

“Another suspect, Shallandra Freeman, was also arrested at the home and charged with murder and feticide. The status of her case is unclear,” according to the report. “Investigators at the time said Avery, Freeman, and Burgess had been acquaintances for several years and Burgess was targeted.”

Avery was indicted on charges of malice murder and feticide by a Troup County grand jury on October 26, 2022. On March 27, 2024, he pleaded guilty to the charges.

He will become eligible for parole in 2052, “but the parole board will be authorized to reject his request,” Cranford said.

“Curteze Avery cut short the life Breanna Burgess and her unborn child. For this, it is just that he is now sentenced to serve life in prison,” Cranford said in a statement. “While the family of Ms. Burgess will never fully heal from this senseless crime, the District Attorney’s Office is relieved to have obtained a Life sentence without the family experiencing the difficulty and uncertainty of a jury trial.”

Chicago Woman Accused of Stabbing 80-Year-Old Uber Driver over Simple Mistake

Prosecutors allege a woman stabbed an 80-year-old Uber driver on Monday in Chicago, Illinois, after he made a simple mistake.

An argument erupted when the driver made a wrong turn. He eventually stopped the car at a gas station on South Michigan, CWB Chicago reported Friday.

After parking, the driver instructed the suspect, identified as Priscilla Mineger, 42, to exit the vehicle. However, the woman allegedly snatched the man’s phone and got out of the car while still holding the device.

The elderly driver then tried to get the device back but the pair got into a scuffle. Mineger is accused of stabbing the man two times with a pocket knife.

While speaking with law enforcement officers, the suspect claimed her driver choked her and that was why she allegedly used the weapon.

The victim was reportedly taken to a local hospital and listed in critical condition as a result of the incident.

“Prosecutors asked Judge Maryam Ahmad to detain Mineger, but the judge decided to put her on electronic monitoring instead. She is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery of a victim over 60 years old,” the CWB Chicago report said.

The news comes after another Uber driver, identified as John Williams, picked up a passenger recently in the West Garfield Park area of Chicago and was told to “go,” Breitbart News reported.

The instruction to move was because someone was about to shoot at them.

“Williams accelerated and gunshots were heard as they fled the scene in the vehicle. The passenger called the police while the driver waited not far from the scene. While waiting for the police more gunshots were heard, along with seeing erratic driving, so the driver decided to not wait for police any longer,” the outlet said.

In June, a Chicago area Uber driver was pistol-whipped and carjacked while working, Fox 32 reported at the time. Dashcam video shows the moment two armed suspects get out of a white car and approach the vehicle:

Meanwhile, Breitbart News reported March 18 that eighteen individuals were shot and four of them died over the weekend in Mayor Brandon Johnson’s (D) Chicago.

UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA - JUNE 15: California Governor Gavin Newsom attends California

If you live in Oakland, California, then prepare to be watched, followed, and tracked. Big time. State Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Friday he is sending hundreds of high-tech surveillance cameras to be installed across the city and surrounding freeways to battle rising crime.

The Democrat said in a news release the California Highway Patrol has contracted with Flock Safety to install 480 cameras that can identify and track vehicles by license plate, type, color and even decals and bumper stickers.

The cameras will provide authorities with real-time alerts of suspect vehicles, AP reports.

Newsom dismisses any criticism of the move and its infringement on privacy, saying the surveillance network will give law enforcement tools “to effectively combat criminal activity and hold perpetrators accountable — building safer, stronger communities for all Californians.”

The city of roughly 400,000 across the bay from San Francisco has seen crime continue to rise in the past 12 months with no sign of it easing anytime soon.

Per an August 2023 report, murders are up 37 percent compared to four years earlier. Robberies jumped 30 percent.

Car break-ins exploded by 40 percent, and car thefts “more than doubled.”

In-N-Out Burger closed its only restaurant in Oakland — the first closure in its 75-year history — due to car break-ins, property damage, theft and robberies, as Breitbart News reported.

Elsewhere the CEOs of four major employers in downtown Oakland announced plans for a joint $10 million security program to improve public safety and protect employees.

The companies are Blue Shield of California, Clorox, Kaiser Permanente and Pacific Gas & Electric.

At least 32 people were shot, four of them fatally, during Easter weekend in Mayor Brandon Johnson’s (D) Chicago.

ABC 7 reported that the weekend’s first fatal shooting occurred Friday, when a 29-year-old man was shot in a drive-by incident in a parking lot “in the 800-block of 87th Street.”

At 12:20 p.m. Saturday, a 41-year-old man was shot and fatally wounded while sitting inside a home “in the 8200 block of South Elizabeth Street.” He was transported to a hospital, where he died.

Police believe the 41-year-old was shot by someone who knew him, but no other details on the possible shooter were given.

Five females were shot on Easter Sunday at 1:00 a.m. The Associated Press noted that this shooting occurred when “an unknown assailant fired multiple shots toward them and fled the scene.”

The shooting victims were ages 6, 17, and 20, along with two 19-year-olds. One of the 19-year-olds was shot in the head and died at the scene.

The Chicago Sun-Times pointed out that 103 people were killed in Chicago January 1, 2024, through March 31, 2024.

Diddy Lawsuit Alleges Underage Sex, Drugs, Beatings, Rapes — Feds Sex Trafficking Probe Targets Flight Manifests

Details in the lawsuits against music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs allege a debaucherous lifestyle of underage sex, drugs, beatings, and rapes.

On Monday, Homeland Security officials raided the mogul’s residences in connection to a sex trafficking investigation. The raid occurred at the music mogul’s mansion in the Holmby Hills neighborhood.

“Investigators said across the coast, the music mogul’s Miami home was also raided Monday,” noted FOX.

“SkyFOX flew over Combs’ home Monday afternoon and showed federal agents conducting their investigation at his home.,” it added. “FOX 11’s ground crew at the scene said the home was registered to Bad Boys Films, which is a division of Bad Boy Entertainment, along with one of Combs’ daughters.”

Diddy has denied all wrongdoing, saying in a statement through his lawyer that the raids were a “gross overuse of military-level force.” He also has not yet been charged with a crime.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, the alleged parties, a.k.a. “Freak-Offs” or “F.O.s,” occurred at some of the swankiest hotels in Miami, Atlanta, New York, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. “Sex parties so brutal that the young women and men lured into attending them would often vomit and pass out from being drugged, beaten and raped, sometimes for hours on end,” the outlet described them as.

Combs allegedly filmed these “Freak-Offs” and even “directed his staff to change the lighting or bedding to better display the women and men who performed for him sexually.” Per the outlet:

One of his alleged victims was Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, an aspiring young R&B singer who met Combs when she was 19 and he was 37. As a founder of Bad Boys Records, he helped promote her career, then forced her into years of physical and sexual servitude, Ventura alleges in a lawsuit she filed against the megastar in November in Manhattan federal court.

At one of the hotel parties, she claims a drunken Combs beat her, then later, picked up one of the women in the hotel suite as if she were a child and dangled her over the 17th floor balcony of the unidentified hotel. There were other assaults at hotels around the country, according to the lawsuit, and Combs often paid the hotels tens of thousands of dollars for damages — and to take possession of any security footage that may have captured his violent behavior, the lawsuits claim.

Diddy immediately settled with Ventura one day after she filed the notorious lawsuit, asserting that his settlement should not be considered an admission of guilt. Several more lawsuits followed in the ensuing months, which eventually led to the Homeland Security raid on his homes this week.

Rodney “‘Lil Rod” Jones, a male music producer, later accused Diddy of sexually assaulting him and forcing him to have sex with male prostitutes, claims Diddy has denied. Jones also alleged in his suit that Diddy drugged him without consent and that the music mogul installed hundreds of hidden cameras in his homes to film people having sex. The lawsuit further named several music executives, unnamed rap artists, and even actor Cuba Gooding Jr. as having partaken in these alleged “Freak-Offs.”

According to Jones, Combs would sometimes send him to the Booby Trap on the River wearing a special baseball cap in order to recruit sex workers.

“Mr Combs provided Mr. Jones with an exclusive ‘Bad Boy’ baseball cap and required him to wear it to the Booby Trap on the River as a signal to any sex worker that he approached that Mr. Combs was in town and had sent Mr. Jones to recruit them,” Jones said in the lawsuit.

According to TMZ,  federal law enforcement sources have said that “all of the jet charter companies Diddy used will receive subpoenas. We’re told the feds want to look at all the flight manifests to see who was on Diddy’s charter jets and where the planes went.”

“The manifest is critical … it will enable federal agents to contact the passengers and interview them. They will be particularly interested if some of the people who filed lawsuits against Diddy were on these planes,” it noted. “The feds will be looking at everyone on these aircrafts — and not just alleged victims — because they could be witnesses who either support or dispute the allegations.”

Illinois Parole Board Members Resign After Felon Allegedly Kills Ex-Girlfriend’s Son Hours After Release

Chicago Police Department, Cheddar Up

Two members of the Illinois Prisoner Review board have stepped down after granting the release of a man who allegedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend’s 11-year-old son hours after gaining freedom.

The board was hit with backlash after freeing Crosetti Brand from his 16-year prison sentence for home invasion and aggravated assault just a month after his ex-girlfriend, Laterria Smith, filed a protection order against him.

The pair had not been together in over 15 years, but Smith, 33, still feared Brand, 37 — with good reason.

“Brand was convicted of domestic-related crimes involving the woman several times between 2006 and 2009, including three violations of orders of protection,” CWBChicago reported.

The felon was originally freed from prison in October with a protection order put in place against contacting Smith, but he was jailed again after being accused of sending her a threatening text and attempting to make entry to her home on February 1, Breitbart News reported.

Just a day before the latest protection order case was to be heard in court, Illinois Prisoner Review Board member LeAnn Miller approved Brand for parole, according to the New York Post.

On the same day that Smith, who is pregnant, was to argue in court why Brand shouldn’t be allowed near her, he allegedly attacked her family with a knife at their Edgewater home.

The outlet reported that Brand allegedly “ambushed” Smith’s young son, Jayden Perkins, as he attempted to protect his mother and unborn sibling.

Jayden died after being violently stabbed in the chest while trying to intervene.

Once the boy’s mother got away and locked herself in another room, the suspect tried to enter but eventually fled. He was later located and arrested at his mother’s home.

Brand now remains in custody on charges of “first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, three counts of home invasion with a dangerous weapon, armed robbery, aggravated domestic battery, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon with a previous conviction, and violating an order of protection,” the CWB Chicago report said.

Not only has Miller resigned from the board, but Chair Donald Shelton also stepped down, the Post reports.

“The Prisoner Review Board must be able to operate independently as they review enormously difficult cases, but I believe LeAnn Miller has made the correct decision in stepping down from her role,” the Gov. JB Pritzker said in a statement.

“It is clear that evidence in this case was not given the careful consideration that victims of domestic violence deserve, and I am committed to ensuring additional safeguards and training are in place to prevent tragedies like this from happening again,” Pritzker said.

He announced the resignation of Shelton in an online press release.

“Donald Shelton served the state of Illinois in his role with the PRB for over a decade, providing a model of dedication to public service,” he said. “During his time with the Champaign Police Department and with the PRB he worked diligently to keep Illinoisans safe and uphold our justice system, and I thank him for his service.”

Smith is still hospitalized in critical condition following the attack, but she and her unborn baby are expected to live, NBC News reported.

Gus Giordano Dance School mourned the loss of Jayden, a star pupil, on social media.

“Jayden Perkins brought the brightest light to GUS. We are incredibly blessed to have been apart of his life. We love you Jayden,” the dance school wrote on X.

NYPD Officer Shot, Killed During Traffic Stop, Allegedly by Man With 21 Prior Arrests

Jonathan Diller

Thirty-one-year-old NYPD officer Jonathan Diller was shot and fatally wounded during a traffic stop Monday, allegedly by a man with multiple prior arrests.

The New York Post reported the incident occurred around 5:50 p.m. after Diller approached the vehicle in which 34-year-old Guy Rivera was sitting as a passenger.

Rivera allegedly refused orders to exit the vehicle and Diller was in the process of removing him from the seat when Rivera shot him in the stomach, just below his protective vest.

PIX 11 noted Diller continued to fight to disarm Rivera even after being shot, knocking the pistol to the ground.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said, “The gun hit the ground; and as the perpetrator was still reaching for it, this cop was able to grab it, although he was still shot.”

Diller was rushed to the hospital, where he died.

Diller’s partner shot Rivera, who is hospitalized in stable condition. The Post pointed out that Rivera has over 20 prior arrests.

Diller leaves behind a wife and young son.

A 31-year-old NYPD cop was shot and killed by a career criminal during a traffic stop in Queens on Monday evening in a “senseless act of violence,” officials and law enforcement sources said.

Officer Jonathan Diller, a married father of a 1-year-old boy, was shot in the stomach after police tried to remove the suspect, identified by sources as 34-year-old Guy Rivera, from the passenger seat of the car near 19-19 Mott Ave. in Far Rockaway, according to the NYPD and sources.

Diller, who had three years on the force, fell to the ground and screamed that he had been “hit” after the suspect opened fire, according to witness Deon Peters.

“He was moving, he was saying, ‘I’m hit, I’m hit!’ Giving location and all that,” Peters said. “Like he was crying, like he was really crying.”

Diller was rushed in critical condition to Jamaica Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

“Tonight this city lost a hero, a wife lost her husband, and a young child lost their father,” NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban wrote on X. “We struggle to find the words to express the tragedy of losing one of our own. The work that Police Officer Jonathan Diller did each day to make this city a safer place will NEVER be forgotten.

“Our prayers are with his family, loved ones, and brothers and sisters in blue.”

Sources identified Guy Rivera as the suspect in Diller’s shooting.

The tragic shooting unfolded around 5:50 p.m. after cops approached the vehicle that was stopped in front of a bus stop.

Rivera “was asked to leave the car, he was given a lawful order numerous times to step out of the car, he refused,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said during a press briefing.

“And when the officer took him out of the car, instead of stepping out of the car, he shot our officer,” said Kenny.

The bullet hit Diller under his police vest, authorities said.

Even after Diller was shot, the Long Island resident heroically got the gun away from the shooter when the weapon fell to the ground, according to Kenny.

RFK Jr. VP Pick Nicole Shanahan a Leftist ‘Criminal Justice’ Advocate Who Has Given Thousands to Joe Biden

Nicole Shanahan
Jordan Strauss/Invision/AP

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s rumored choice for a running mate is a leftist “criminal justice” advocate who has given thousands to President Joe Biden and Democrats.

RFK Jr. has tried to position himself as a truly independent candidate after switching from running as a Democrat in October 2023. At the time, he said, “I must declare my own independence. Independence from the Democratic Party. … And from all other political parties.”

But it is clear his vice president choice, Nicole Shanahan, does not exactly sit in the middle, having a history of supporting Democrats — including Biden, giving thousands to his campaign.

According to the New York Times:

Ms. Shanahan, who was once married to the Google co-founder Sergey Brin, has a history of making donations to Democratic campaigns, including to President Biden’s 2020 run. But she gave to Mr. Kennedy’s presidential campaign in May 2023, when he was running as a Democrat.

More specifically, it appears Shanahan gave $30,000 to the Biden campaign in 2020, according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) data. She also has made several donations to ActBlue, the Democrat fundraising arm, as well as one to the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

Further, Shanahan has a history of supporting far-left “criminal justice” initiatives. In 2021, she revealed in San Francisco Magazine that she is a “major donor for Measure J in Los Angeles County.” Measure J “amends the County charter, requiring at least 10% of locally generated, unrestricted revenue be reinvested into community development and alternatives to incarceration,” according to a summary. It also “prohibits using funds for carceral systems and law enforcement agencies.”

Further, Shanahan, in that same interview, stated that she believes a mental health professional on scene of the George Floyd’s arrest could have possibly changed the outcome of the situation.

San Francisco Magazine put it this way:

Another important area of investment—criminal justice reform—is one that Shanahan has been devoted to for years, long before the Black Lives Matter movement. “I remember telling Sergey’s foundation head about five years ago that criminal justice reform was going to be one of the biggest topics of our generation,” she says. “I’m happy that I could be a major donor for Measure J in Los Angeles County, which was voted in and will be rerouting some of the law enforcement budget toward mental and social support services.” Shanahan notes that having a mental health professional on the scene of George Floyd’s arrest would have de-escalated the situation and possibly saved his life.

Conservative and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk also pointed out that Shanahan is a “six-figure donor to… George Gascon, the pro-crime, Soros-backed prosecutor who helped wreck San Francisco and is currently wrecking LA.”

He concluded she is a “far-left pick by RFK, who is apparently looking to shore up his progressive bona fides.”

“Major red flag for commonsense independents and centrist voters who are also sick of rising crime but intrigued by his campaign,” he added:

RFK Jr. is expected to make the vice president announcement official on Tuesday.

All the while, poll after poll seems to indicate that RFK Jr.’s presence in the race is benefiting former President Donald Trump rather than Biden. A recent Morning Consult survey examining the race in several key swing states shows Trump with the lead while Kennedy is included:
