A growing number of Latinos support deportations and the construction of a border wall, a recent Axios-Ipsos poll found, confirming that former President Donald Trump’s policies are registering among voters.

Trump vowed to secure the border if he wins in November. He also promised to deport illegal aliens, which could amount to millions of people who violated U.S. law. The latest estimate shows that more than 51 million foreign-born residents reside in the U.S., according to the Center for Immigration Studies.

The poll found that among Latino adults:

  • Thirty-eight percent support deporting illegal aliens, up ten points (28 percent) since President Joe Biden assumed office.
  • Forty-two percent support securing the southern border by building a wall, up 12 points since 2021.
  • Sixty-four percent support allowing a president to close the borders if migrants are invading the nation.

Driving down on the numbers, Cuban Americans most support (58 percent) securing the southern border with a wall, while 37 percent of “Mexican immigrants and Mexican Americans” support wall construction. Forty-three percent of Central Americans support the wall.

Latinos marked Biden’s southern border invasion as their third-highest concern. Biden’s soaring costs and crime rank first and second, respectively.

The poll sampled 1,012 Latino adults from March 22-28, 2024, with a ± 3.6 percent margin of error.

The survey appears to confirm growing Latino support for Trump. Latino support for Biden shrunk over his tenure by 12 points, while Trump surged among Latinos by three points during the same period, an Ipsos poll found Tuesday:

  • Trump gained 29 points on Biden since he assumed office in 2021 (53-24).
  • Biden only holds a three-point lead among those who intend to vote in November.
  • Trump holds a 22-point lead over Biden on who can handle the costly economy.
  • Trump also holds an 11-point lead on reducing soaring crime.

The polling comes as the U.S. faces a rash of alleged crimes committed by illegal aliens. More information about those incidents is here and here.

The flood of illegal immigrants into the U.S. constitutes an “invasion,” Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said Wednesday – the same day Rasmussen Reports released survey results showing that a strong majority of voters agree with him about what’s taking place at the nation’s southern border.

“We are witnessing a profound threat to our nation at the southern border,” Sen. Cruz told reporters, describing the rampant illegal immigration as an “invasion” being facilitated by the Biden Administration:

“Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and this entire administration has deliberately and willfully facilitated the criminal invasion of this country. It is a humanitarian crisis, it is a public safety crisis, it is a national security crisis.”

...

“That is why the House of Representatives impeached (DHS Sec.) Alejandro Mayorkas – because he has aided and abetted the criminal invasion of this United States.”

Democrats in Congress have been loath to characterize the border situation as an invasion. But, results of a national Rasmussen survey, conducted March 31-April 2, reveal that 64% of U.S. likely voters say “invasion” is at least a “somewhat” accurate description – including 42% who call it “very accurate.”

Minorities are more prone that Whites to call the situation an invasion. While 61% of Whites say it’s at least somewhat accurate, 66% of Blacks and 70% of other non-Whites approve of the characterization. Nearly half of other non-Whites (47%) consider it very accurate.

Democrat voters are the most opposed to the use of “invasion,” as less than half (46%) consider it acceptable, including just 23% who think it’s a very accurate descriptor. In contrast, 87% of Republicans and 60% of other voters call it an accurate term.

Likewise, only 29% of voters who “strongly approve” of Democrat Joe Biden’s job performance as president think “invasion” is an accurate description, Rasmussen reports.

A new Texas law authorizing the state’s law enforcement to arrest illegal immigrants, based on a provision in the U.S. Constitution empowering states to repel invasions, is being held up in the courts by a Biden Administration lawsuit. The White House is claiming that the surge of illegal immigrants is not an “invasion.”

But, as Heartland Institute’s Justin Haskins explains in a Newsweek commentary, the illegal immigration surge fits the Founders Fathers’ definition of “invasion.” The New York Times best-selling author notes they the Founders set a very low bar for states needing to respond to invasion:

“In Article One, Section 10, the Constitution declares, ‘No State shall, without the Consent of Congress...engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.’"

“Today's pundits, legislators, and voters might disagree about what constitutes an ‘invasion,’ but in the era of the Founding Fathers, when that clause of the Constitution was written, the word had a clearer meaning. To the Founders, an "invasion" referred to any unauthorized entry that includes even a slight degree of hostility.”

As a result, “invasion” has been cited in order to justify state actions against pirates, barbarians, and now, drug cartels and illegal migrants.

On Wednesday, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds signed into law a bill mirroring Texas' new measure. And, again, the Biden Administration is suing.

Iowa Joins Texas: New Law Allows State To Deport Illegals

Iowa has joined Texas in empowering state law enforcement to do the job the Biden Administration has refused to do: arrest and remove illegal aliens.

On Wednesday, amid the unfettered surge of illegal aliens into the U.S., Republican Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed into law SF 2340, which mirrors a Texas law currently being held up and challenged in court by the Biden Administration.

Iowa’s new law is necessary in order to protect the safety of the state’s residents from the dangers of Pres. Joe Biden’s open-border polices, Gov. Reynolds explained in a statement:

“The Biden Administration has failed to enforce our nation’s immigration laws, putting the protection and safety of Iowans at risk. Those who come into our country illegally have broken the law, yet Biden refuses to deport them.

“This bill gives Iowa law enforcement the power to do what he is unwilling to do: enforce immigration laws already on the books.”

While the U.S. Constitution generally delegates immigration enforcement to the federal government, it does provide exceptions. One exception allows each individual state to defend itself from invasion, as Heartland Institute’s Justin Haskins explains:

“In Article One, Section 10, the Constitution declares, ‘No State shall, without the Consent of Congress...engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.’"

“Today's pundits, legislators, and voters might disagree about what constitutes an ‘invasion,’ but in the era of the Founding Fathers, when that clause of the Constitution was written, the word had a clearer meaning. To the Founders, an "invasion" referred to any unauthorized entry that includes even a slight degree of hostility.”

Iowa’s law makes illegal entry a state crime and provides for both the imprisonment and deportation of offending illegal aliens, The Daily Wire reports:

Google Report 300x250

“Under the new state law, an immigrant could be guilty of a Class C felony and face up to 10 years in prison for illegally entering the country if he/she was arrested for committing another felony. The law also requires Iowa judges to submit an order for a person convicted of illegally entering the U.S. to be returned to their home country.”

Iowa’s SF 2340 is scheduled to take effect on July 1. But, given the Biden Administration’s obdurate legal efforts to thwart, not only Texas’ efforts to secure its border by erecting barriers, but also its enforcement of immigration law, it appears destined to be challenged in court.

Biden’s open border policy is compromising our national security

Texas shares approximately half of the 1,954-mile U.S.-Mexican border, making it a primary entry point for illegal immigrants.

In 2011, the U.S. Border Patrol apprehended 125,821 illegal immigrants in Texas alone. This high volume of illegal immigration presents significant challenges to Texas and the entire U.S., including economic, social, and security concerns.

Economic Impact: The influx of undocumented immigrants can strain public resources and social services, leading to potential economic challenges. It is essential to find a balance between humanitarian concerns and fiscal responsibility. Economically, illegal immigrants impose a significant burden on the state's resources. They account for about 14% of the students in Texas public schools when U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants are included, costing the state around $3.75 billion annually. Furthermore, illegal immigrants are more likely to live in poverty, with about 58% taking advantage of welfare programs, which cost the state an additional $803.3 million annually.

National Security Threat: Open borders can be exploited by criminal organizations, smugglers, and potential terrorists. Ensuring national security becomes a formidable task in such a scenario. From a security perspective, the long Texas-Mexico border requires significant resources to secure, including workforce, equipment, technology, and infrastructure. The overall budget for all agencies and operating costs in 2011 was $56.3 billion. Despite these efforts, illegal immigration continues to be a significant issue.

Rule of Law: The rule of law is fundamental to the stability and functioning of any society. Ignoring illegal immigration can undermine the integrity of legal immigration processes and overall societal trust. The open border policy rewards those who break the law by entering the country illegally, undermining the efforts of those who seek to immigrate legally. Moreover, it threatens national security, as it may allow criminals and potentially dangerous individuals to enter the country undetected.

Public Health: Health concerns, especially during pandemics, are exacerbated by unchecked immigration. It is vital to have measures to ensure the health and safety of the incoming immigrants and the resident population.

Social Cohesion: Large-scale, unregulated immigration can strain social cohesion, as it may lead to cultural clashes and increased polarization within society. Socially, the rapid growth of the Latino population in Texas, primarily due to illegal immigration, threatens to influence state politics and immigration policies. This demographic shift could lead to policies enabling unlawful immigration, exacerbating its associated issues.

Addressing illegals

Immigration and open border issues require a multifaceted approach. It involves ensuring border security, reforming immigration laws, and creating stricter laws for immigrants to enter the country. Maintaining border security is essential to prevent criminal activities and ensure national security. Investment in advanced technology and personnel can be part of the solution.

It should be different from what the Biden administration has done. For instance, it has expanded the Title 42 policy that allows for increased expulsion of migrants while also granting humanitarian parole to 30,000 people from each country monthly, as long as they apply for asylum legally. Under President Trump, the plan required adult asylum seekers to book a meeting with U.S. officials and remain in Mexico or claim asylum in another country first before reaching the U.S. Failure to comply would make migrants ineligible if they subsequently go the border.

The issue of illegal immigration and open borders in Texas and the United States has become challenging. Under President Trump, there was a simple solution: Close the borders!

The circumstances of their arrival are intriguing in that unlike other illegal aliens, most OTMs  (other than Mexicans) promptly turned themselves in. Why is it not known for sure? There can be no doubt, however, that the scheme has given Mexican drug cartels and — potentially — terrorists a promising opportunity to simply step over the invisible line that is our border undetected by border tax adjustments or BTAs because the agents processing the new arrivals could not handle their posts.

To most Americans, the perception has long been that most of those illegally crossing our southern border are Mexicans, people coming here in search of work, looking to join family or a gang. While that may have been the case in the past, it is no longer supported by the latest immigration numbers today. According to a study done by Pew Research, detention of illegal Mexican aliens is at an all-time low. The primary reasons cited for the reversal are current mixed economic conditions, fewer job opportunities in the U.S., increases in deportations, and better border enforcement.  However, the number of illegal aliens has not diminished. As more Mexicans have opted to stay home, children from Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Honduras have quickly filled the vacuum. Numerous sources indicate that President Obama’s and President Biden’s executive actions have helped spur these children to make the dangerous journey through Mexico and ultimately up to our border.

The question should be asked is if their parents are poor, how can they come up with as much as $10,000 to have coyotes (people paid by cartels to smuggle drugs and humans across borders) or others bring their child up to the Rio Grande, the natural boundary flowing between Mexico from the U.S. No sources could be found to suggest that terror groups are funding the trips, but one must wonder who is.

That would be understandable if they were arriving in a group of five. But they are coming in droves and in the same timeframe. There is no question that the children are diverting Border Patrol agents from covering their guard posts so illegal border crossers, in particular members of the Mexican drug cartels, their “mules” (people hired to smuggle drugs into the U.S.), as well as gang members and Special Interest Aliens (SIA) can cross the border unapprehended. SIAs are of considerable concern to our intelligence and law enforcement agencies for obvious reasons. Stories are appearing with greater frequency on various news websites and blogs about how radical Islamists are being stopped as they try to enter the country.

In short:  Active cells could attack critical electric-grid substations, the failure of which could compromise or cripple our entire electric infrastructure. Other obvious threats are car bombs, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) placed on busy highways or train tracks, bridge collapses, and other devastating attacks. We must close our borders now.

When Biden took office, one of his first acts was the elimination of our border security.  Like a power-hungry dictator, Biden simply decided to ignore our immigration laws.  His catastrophic border policy resulted in untold millions of unidentified foreign citizens from around the world pouring into our country.  Its impact is now being felt in cities across the country.  The worst is yet to come. PETER LEMISKA

Even as New York City Mayor Eric Adams continues to rail at the 37,500 illegals that Texas has bused to the Big Apple, he has completely ignored the 33,000 Biden has dropped off in the region’s airports. And that number is likely a low estimate, Bensman said, indicating that there have probably been many more than just 33,000.

The Border Patrol, which last year faced a record-high number of encounters with illegal immigrants, may now have to deal with up to 15,000 migrants per day. By comparison, the whole month of March 2022 "saw an average of roughly 5,200 daily illegal border crossings," the Free Beacon reported. An unprecedented 5.5 million immigrants have already illegally crossed the border since Harris's boss, President Joe Biden, took office.

From its beginning, the land that became America experienced a series of waves of immigration, which included approximately 86 million people through 2019, a number that has increased to approximately 100 million over the last 5 years. Although Donald Trump stemmed the tide somewhat, Joe Biden has opened up the floodgates with more than 10 million illegal immigrants pouring over our now-nonexistent border since his installation. That’s fully 3% of the US population. As significant numbers of those people are heading to New York, California, and other blue states, which roll out the red carpet and give them free money, the Democrats are grateful because this swelling population helps their congressional numbers.

When It Comes To Immigration, Misplaced Compassion Will Destroy America

At her bicentennial, most Americans believed America to be a beacon of light to the world, with legal immigrants drawn by hopes of opportunity, building something and becoming an American success story. America and everything she stood for were things of value and unique, and those who came counted themselves as fortunate. As we approach her semi-quincentennial, things are different.

Today, large swaths of Democrats disparage America as illegitimate in one breath while, in the next, saying that we should allow in every person who wants to walk across the border and suckle at the public teat.  After all, “Columbus was an immigrant.”

America is indeed a land of immigrants, as we’re constantly told. Actually, every place is a land of immigrants, for immigration is a hallmark of human history.

Wherever humanity originated, at some point, members of the species immigrated everywhere else. It’s almost never a simple process. Sometimes, it’s because people were chased from their homelands, like the Vandals who were chased by the Huns from eastern Europe into the Roman Empire, eventually settling in Gaul, then Iberia and, finally, North Africa. Other times, it’s because of people who seek to expand their territory through conquest, as happened with the various Muslim caliphates that emerged from Mecca and Medina, whose desire to encircle the Mediterranean was only stopped by Charles Martel in Tours in 732 and by John III Sobieski in Vienna in 1683.

Image: YouTube screen grab.

History is full of examples of people immigrating from one place to another. We often think of the earliest people moving into an area that was previously uninhabited. That may possibly be true of North and South America, but for the most part, it’s not true. When the earliest humans immigrated out of Africa and into Europe, Asia, and Oceania, they encountered our cousins, the Neanderthals, and after 100 centuries of war, eventually eradicated them.

All of this is to say that immigration is nothing new in human history. And it’s not in American history either. Pre-Columbian people in what’s now North America came across the Bering Straits at the end of the Ice Age and then, even in that large land, jostled with each other over territory.

The modern United States was built by immigrants from Europe from a land that was extraordinarily sparsely populated when they arrived. It’s estimated that there were 4.5 million inhabitants north of the Rio Grande in 1492, or about one-half a person per square mile. That compares to approximately 32 in Mexico at the time, 33 in Spain, 60 in France and 103 in India, the world’s densest nation at the time. Today America stands at approximately 100 people per square mile.

This is simply not sustainable. Particularly when the overwhelming majority of the people coming across the border are from countries that don’t share our values and have little experience with the freedoms that helped create history’s greatest nation and economy.

Across the country, we’re seeing sanctuary states and cities being overwhelmed by the events they supported in the first place. Citizens, veterans, children, and more are being displaced to make room for illegals, with taxpayers picking up the tab. Virtually every aspect of public services is being overwhelmed, from shelters to schools to hospitals to police.

The good thing is, Donald Trump has promised that on Day One, he will start the largest domestic deportation operation in American history. That, combined with a wall the likes of which we’ve never seen, is a great start.

But there’s a problem, and Jesse Kelly hit it right on the head…

Kelly is right. America is simply too soft to do what’s necessary to deal with this disaster.

Americans are largely a compassionate people. The LBGTQXYZ travesty we’re experiencing today is, at its core, the result of Americans reacting to gay partners not being able to visit dying lovers in hospitals during the AIDS epidemic because they didn’t have rights and families of the dying kept them out of the hospital rooms.

Hundreds of thousands, maybe millions, of babies are aborted annually because Americans are angered at hearing that a victim of rape or the mother of a severely handicapped fetus was forced to give birth rather than get an abortion.

In wide swaths of the country, policing and justice have been eviscerated because too many Americans believe that blacks are incapable of overcoming slavery that ended a century and a half ago or discrimination that was outlawed back in the 1960s.

Americans are indeed a compassionate people, but sometimes compassion can get you killed. Compassion has a role to play in a moral civilization, but when it becomes the driving force to the exclusion of rational thought, it ceases to be a virtue. (See Europe, which, since 2015, at Angela Merkel’s direction during the war in Syria, imported tens of millions of military-aged men from Africa and the Middle East who are bringing war to the streets, along with the problem that many of them despise Western culture and want Sharia law in Europe.) You cannot run a country based on teary anecdotes. They make for great media and heartfelt stories, but they make for terrible policy.

If Donald Trump is going to fix this situation, he must be willing to endure the unprecedented level of vitriol that will be thrown at him. AOC crying at the side of cages will be child’s play compared to what the media will do with images of little Pedro and his pregnant mommy being pulled from the taxpayer-provided hotel room and loaded up into a DHS van. Trump must be willing to endure stories about the heartbreaking lives that face deportees back in Mexico, Guatemala, Venezuela, and the rest of the countries from whence they came with him playing the role of Hitler.

At the end of the day, if Donald Trump is going to lead the nation out of the morass that Democrats and the swamp have led us into, he must be willing to be vilified, cursed, defamed, libeled, reviled and basically all of the other things he has been exposed to over the last eight years, on steroids.

Trump wasn’t willing to endure that abuse last time and allowed random judges to throw roadblocks all along the wayAs a result, his wall was never finished, and now there are 10 million new illegals in America. As the country approaches her 250th birthday, if Donald Trump is going to be the leader Americans need right now, he’s going to have to be a lot more George Patton and a lot less Mark Milley.

Chicago Slammed with 57 Cases of Measles in Migrant Shelters, One Case Less than Entire Country in 2023

Chicago has been slammed with nearly as many cases of measles in its migrant shelters this year than the whole country had in 2023.

City health officials reported 57 “confirmed cases” and that most of the cases have turned up across its migrant shelter system.

According to city officials, 33 cases of measles are migrant children up to the age of four, seven are from five to 17 years of age, 16 are adults between the ages of 18 and 24, and one is over 50 years of age.

Health officials also say that some residents may have been exposed to the disease on city mass transit bus and train lines, as well as various stores, clinics, and schools.

These 57 cases, mostly among the illegal border crossers being sheltered in Chicago’s migrant housing, rivals the number of measles cases reported in the entire country for 2023. Last year only 58 cases were seen in the whole of the U.S. However, there were 121 cases listed in 2022, according to WMAQ-TV.

But this year, the outbreak has exploded. As the report notes, “As of Feb. 29, a total of 41 measles cases were reported in 16 U.S. states: Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York City, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington.”

These numbers do not include the new cases in Chicago.

Cases of measles have been relatively sparse in the U.S. for decades and the disease has been generally considered eliminated since the year 2000, meaning it does not present a meaningful threat across the country and is generally seen only when someone brings the disease in from outside the country, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

Still, the CDC has issued a warning about the disease in an alert titled, “Increase in Global and Domestic Measles Cases and Outbreaks.”

The advisory, which is intended for public health officials and clinicians, notes that the disease is “highly contagious” and pointed out that, at the time of its writing, there has been 58 confirmed cases of the measles in the U.S. from January 1 to March 14.

This includes “seven outbreaks in seven jurisdictions compared to 58 total cases and four outbreaks reported the entire year in 2023.” Further, it noted the vast majority of the cases, 93 percent, are linked to traveling internationally.

For its part, the Illinois Department of Public Health has tried to allay fears over the contagious disease and insists that residents are at little risk.

“Most residents of Chicago and Illinois were vaccinated routinely in childhood and therefore not at high risk. Of most concern are people who have not been vaccinated. MMR vaccine is available at most medical provider’s offices and pharmacies. Illinois children as young as 7 years old can get the MMR shot at pharmacies under Illinois law,” the department concluded,” the state department insisted.

Measles is not the only highly contagious disease coursing through the Windy City’s migrant shelters. This month an outbreak of tuberculosis was also seen ravaging migrants.

Last week, the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) revealed that there is “a small number of cases” of tuberculosis (TB) “among new arrivals in a few different shelters over the course of the response.”

CDPH officials did not divulge the exact number of cases among migrants or the location of the shelters where the disease was detected.

BUT WHAT ABOUT HOMELESS LEGALS? HOW MANY CONDOS FOR LOW INCOME AMERICANS BE BUILT FOR $20 MILLION?

Liberal Chicago Suburb of Evanston Wants $20M Grant to Make Abandoned Office Building a Migrant Shelter

The mayor of the ultra-liberal, near-north Chicago suburb of Evanston wants to apply for a slice of a $20 million county grant to turn an abandoned office building in his city into a new migrant shelter in a bid to help take migrants off the hands of officials in Chicago.

Evanston Mayor Daniel Biss (D) announced his intention to apply to Cook County’s recently created $100 million-dollar “disaster response and recovery” fund, of which $20 million is set aside for migrants, to help him rehab an empty office building near Church Street and Oak Avenue. Biss wants to turn the building into a new migrant transition center and shelter that could house more than 60 illegal border crossers, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

The county fund was created in November 2023 to encourage suburbs to step in and offer their jurisdictions to the migrant housing game that is causing the City of Chicago to shell out hundreds of millions of tax dollars.

Biss brought his idea to apply for some of the funds to the Evanston city council hoping to convince them to publicly agree and “buy in” to the idea as a show of unanimous support to bring migrants into the suburbs.

“On the one hand, this could be an asset to the City as we see increased migration for climate or other reasons,” said a memo on the plan. “On the other hand, it could place meaningful strain on the City.”

Biss apparently also wants to serve as a beacon for left-wingers to point to approvingly as they work to push the suburbs to join the effort to take in illegals. The idea has met with stony silence in much of the county. The so-called “disaster response and recovery” fund has been offered since November but few suburbs have stepped up to take advantage of the cash for illegals.

The Evanston plan is still light on specifics, though. The exact costs of a private organization to run this eventual shelter is unknown — though the memo said it might be $2 million annually. On top of that, the costs of adding a fire-suppression system, showers and bathrooms, sleeping areas, and other upgrades to the building are also in question. The costs would obviously range in the millions, and there is no telling just how much of that will be covered by the county funds and how much will fall on the shoulders of the taxpayers of Evanston.

As only about 60 or 65 migrants will be cared for once this facility opens, the whole project does not seem to be all that effective in alleviating the pressure on Chicago for caring for illegals.

“It breaks my heart that it feels like a drop in the bucket,” Evanston policy coordinator Alison Leipsiger admitted. “But also these are 60 people who need a place to stay.”

Still, Evanston is an ultra-liberal suburb, so it seems likely that if Mayor Biss wants this as a political feather in his cap, it will probably come to pass, despite the costs.

The city, which is home to Northwestern University, has pushed far-left ideals before. Only a few years ago, Evanston became the first U.S. city to pass “reparations” for black residents.

Also, back in 2013, the city became one of the few to enact a so-called “assault weapons ban.”

More recently, the left-wing city council floated a resolution demanding a cease fire in Israel as well, a move that sparked an ethics complaint against the city’s Equity and Empowerment Commission.

Joe Biden Has Secretly Flown 33,000 Migrants into New York City, 326,000 into Florida, at Taxpayer Expense

A review of available federal records shows the Biden administration has secretly flown 33,000 illegal aliens into New York City and an astounding 326,000 into the state of Florida over the last several years.

The number of illegals that Biden has flown around the country dwarfs the number that Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) sent via bus to deep blue cities, even though it is Abbott who suffers the barbs of the left-wing media for the practice and Biden’s human trafficking is wholly ignored by the press.

According to a report by Todd Bensman, a senior national security fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies, Biden imported more than 800,000 illegals into the country via a program called the “CHNV Program” or the “Advanced Travel Authorization Program.”

These programs send planes directly to foreign airports, load them up with people who have not gone through the normal immigration process, and then fly them directly to U.S. airports where they are dumped into the American populace. And all this is done without any notice or coordination with the local government officials.

Under Biden’s plan, “sponsors” fill out online applications for the illegals to apply for permission to fly into the U.S. The approval process for these applications has not been made public, but once an application is approved, the illegals make their way to a designated airport in the U.S. where they are allowed into the country.

The two programs identified by Bensman seem to have directly imported 800,000 illegals into the country and then disseminated them all across the land, often in flights that arrived in the middle of the night.

None of these records are exactly in the public, though. According to Bensman, Biden’s Department of Homeland Security refused to comply with Freedom of Information Act records requests, and the numbers Bensman cites have had to be parsed from a disparate number of government reports.

The Biden administration is doing its best to keep these flights a secret, Bensman charged.

Bensman is not the only one decrying the secrecy Biden has used to shroud these flights of hundreds of thousands of illegals.

“It is secret because they’re not telling anybody. They don’t tell us anytime somebody comes in,” Florida Gov. DeSantis (R) said in April. “They don’t give us any information on it. They are not coordinating with state government at all. If they throw six people on a commercial flight coming from a foreign country, there’s no acknowledgement at all to state or local authorities. That’s just a fact.”

One of the illegals that Biden flew into John F. Kennedy International Airport was Pierre Lucard Emile, a Haitian migrant, who was later arrested by Boston Police in September 2023 after being accused of raping a teen girl with a developmental disability.

Harris, a guest on CNN's "State of the Union," said "I support Medicare for all. It is my preferred policy." She said she supports the bill introduced by Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Even as the crisis worsens by the day, Biden administration officials, including Harris, have insisted that the border is secure. One day before the Pentagon confirmed the troop movement, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre falsely claimed that "illegal migration" has "come down by more than 90 percent."

Sending Troops to Border Is 'Inappropriate' and 'Political,' Said Veep Whose Boss Is Now Sending Troops to Border

Karl Salzmann

May 2, 2023

Vice President Kamala Harris in a 2018 interview blasted the Trump administration's decision to send troops to the border as "political" and "inappropriate," remarks that may hurt her after news broke Tuesday that the Biden administration is sending 1,500 troops to the border.

"The administration made a decision to deploy [troops] based on a political agenda," then-senator Harris said, "and I believe that it is inappropriate to require the limited resources of the United States military to be used in such a way." She described the Trump administration's decision as "some demonstration for the TV cameras based on a political agenda instead of what is a national security threat."

Harris has not used similar language to describe the Biden administration's decision to deploy troops to the border. According to a Homeland Security Department memo, the Pentagon will send staff to manage an enormous expected surge on the southern border following the repeal of Title 42, a Trump administration border security measure, the Washington Free Beacon reported Tuesday. Defense Department officials confirmed the same day that the administration will send "1,500 active-duty troops to the U.S.-Mexico border in anticipation of an influx of migrants," according to CNN.

"The active-duty Army units will assist Border Patrol and will be armed," National Review reported. In addition to the Army, 2,500 active-duty National Guardsmen are already stationed at the border.

Harris, who is ostensibly in charge of managing the administration's response to the crisis, has only been to the border once, in June 2021. In January of this year, she visited the border state of Arizona but didn't discuss the crisis. Instead, she talked about green energy projects.

‘Muchas gracias’ for all those remittances

Today I learned that the peso is strong. That's actually a double-edged sword because it makes Cancun more expensive for U.S. tourists but going shopping in the U.S. cheaper for Mexicans.

So what's going on? Well, remittances are going south and that makes the Lopez-Obrador government say "muchas gracias" to all those Mexicans in the U.S. keeping their families afloat. This is the story:

On Monday, April 8, the Mexican peso reached an international exchange rate of 16.31 pesos per one wholesale U.S. dollar, the currency’s strongest performance against the dollar since October 2015.

This marks a .68 percent appreciation of the peso since trading closed on Friday, said data from Bloomberg, making the Mexican peso one of the top four global currencies in terms of growing value against the dollar over the weekend.

According to Banco Base Director of Economic Analysis Gabriela Siller, the increasing strength of the peso comes as remittances sent from the U.S. to Mexico continue surging, export levels remain strong and foreign investment rises throughout the country.

That's not a shock to me but the amount of "remesas" is indeed eye-popping. In other words, Mexico is attracting more investment, exporting a lot and growing more and more dependent on those "remesas" as a safety net for more and more families.

Remember that those "remesas" are going to the poorer segment of society. Very few middle or upper-class Mexicans get these dollars. At the same time, many Mexicans have told me that it's dangerous for Mexico to be so dependent on dollars. They say, and I agree, that local politicians do not have to make tough decisions about privatizing the oil company or the agricultural sector.

It also exposes Mexico to having the U.S. put a tax on all that capital flight. We believe that President Trump warned Lopez-Obrador with such a tax and that is why he accepted "Remain in Mexico." True or false, those levels of dependence on foreign nationals abroad is risky and no way to run a country. Just think what the peso would be worth if $60 billion was not flowing into Banco de Mexico.

Rep. Troy Nehls Condemns Mexican President for ‘Diplomatic Blackmail’ to Crack Down on Illegal Immigration

Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) filed a resolution Tuesday condemning Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador’s (AMLO) comments on 60 Minutes on March 24, 2024 and calling on the Mexican government to limit illegal immigration, Breitbart News learned first.

The Biden administration asked “for us to try and contain the flow of migration,” Mexico’s president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, told 60 Minutes in a March 24 broadcast, as Breitbart News reported extensively. But “the flow of migrants will continue” if Biden does not cooperate with Mexico’s ambitions, Obrador said.

Those ambitions, as described by 60 Minutes, are:

…that the United States commit $20 billion a year to four countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, lift sanctions on Venezuela and the Cuban embargo, and legalize [amnesty] millions of law-abiding Mexicans living in the US.

“I’m speaking frankly,” Obrador told 60 Minutes. “We have to say things as they are, and I always say what I feel. I always say what I think.”

Nehls’ resolution condemns AMLO’s comments and calls on the Mexican Government to limit illegal immigration by securing its own southern border, reaching an agreement with the United States for Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP)/Remain in Mexico, and establishing a Safe Third Country Agreement with the United States.

“The comments made by Mexico’s President are reprehensible and equate to diplomatic blackmail,” the Texas congressman said in a statement to Breitbart. “To mitigate illegal immigration, Mexico should secure its own border, reimplement President Trump’s successful ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy, and establish a Safe Third Country agreement with the United States.”

Nehls and many other Republicans have ruthlessly criticized Biden and his border policies, even impeaching his Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, in February.

But as AMLO’s comments reveal, instead of pursuing policies the Trump administration used successfully to curb illegal immigration – which the Biden administration began disassembling within hours of Biden’s inauguration, Biden is plotting to farm out border enforcement to the Mexican government. And he is willing to make significant concessions at the expense of American taxpayers to do it.

By orchestrating his scheme surreptitiously, Biden is attempting to avoid the ire of both his leftwing base and wealthy donors who favor unencumbered immigration, while simultaneously meagerly reducing the unprecedented volume of border crossings in an effort to assuage independent voters who remain concerned with the migrant crisis.

In an approaching election year panic, the Biden administration asked Mexico in December – a month during which AMLO let a record-breaking flood of 251,000 illegal migrants cross the U.S. border far from the official border gates – to slash the northward flow of illegals during the 2024 election year.

After the Biden administration quickly agreed to his terms, AMLO suddenly slashed the illegal inflow by 50 percent in January.

Nehls, who supported the House-passed H.R. 2 that would reinstate many of Trump’s border and immigration policies, including those he calls for in his resolution, ripped Biden for colluding with the Mexican president instead of doing his duty.

“When did the United States of America start to meet the ‘demands’ of a foreign country?,” Nehls asked. “I’ll tell you when—when Joe Biden became president. This is completely unacceptable.”

Reps. Jake Ellzey (R-TX) and Tom Tiffany (R-WI) cosponsored Nehls’ resolution.

THE FIRST THING NAFTA BIDEN DID WHEN HE GOT THE WHITE HOUSE WAS HAND NARCOMEX $4 BILLION DOLLARS TO FINANCE THE MEX PART OF THE BIDEN-MAYORKAS INVASION!

White House Deal with Mexico: More Migrants, Less Video

A White House official has signed a border management deal with Mexico to minimize the visibility of accelerating mass illegal migration once officials lift the Title 42 barrier that now protects Americans.

The deal is not intended to block labor migration into Americans’ workplaces and neighborhoods, said Rosemary Jenks, the director of Government Relations for NumbersUSA: “It’s all designed to mask what is the intended goal of the Biden administration — which is to bring in as many people as possible.”

The administration’s same-day announcement that it sending 1,500 troops to the border “is all part of that distraction,” she added. The troops will be “pushing paper and stocking warehouses” to help Biden’s border agents and its progressive non-profit register more migrants for flights and bus trips to Americans’ cities and towns.

The deal with Mexico cooperation helps Biden’s deputies quietly funnel the chaotic and growing flood of illegal, job-seeking migrants through hidden side doors in the border, she said:

You no longer have videos of hundreds of people streaming across the Rio Grande [because] people are being flown in on taxpayer dollars, [and] poor people are coming through the ports of entry — again, with no legal right to be there — so that it doesn’t look like chaos …. [But] the end result is exactly the same: A massive number of people with no right to be here coming into the United States, using taxpayer dollars, taking taxpayer-funded services, competing for housing, competing for jobs, all of the rest of it.

Officials are already inviting up to 30,000 migrants per month to fly from four countries into airports around the United States. They are also helping to bus roughly 25,000 migrants from shelters in Mexico to border sites for quiet catch-and-release processing.

“It is stunning, the lawlessness of this administration,” she added. “They just create these programs out of whole cloth … — these people are making their own laws and nobody’s stopping them.”

The Biden policies are facing legal review in a federal court in Texas, and the U.S. Supreme Court is expected to issue a decision by June.

Understandably, Mexico is using its power over the border flow to extract rewards from the U.S. government, she said.

“Mexico has power over the United States,” said Jenks. “Mexico is letting all of these people in through its borders, and it’s doing that very intentionally [because it has the power to] stop it, or … increase the flow.”

For example, Mexico steered up to 30,000 Haitian migrants to the Del Rio crossing in Texas in September 2021. The event was a shock to the Biden administration because the migrant flood was broadcast on the evening TV news to the many Americans who do not monitor political news.

“Mexico has no reason to agree to this [deal] if they’re not getting something of equal value or more value in exchange –I just don’t know what that is,” Jenks said.

The deal “consolidates Mexico’s role as the lynchpin in the US’ migration containment strategy,” said Mexican journalist, José Díaz Briseño.

The strategy is sometimes called. “border externalization,” because it allows White House officials — and their business allies — to quietly sign deals with foreign countries instead of openly negotiating with a divided Congress and hostile voters.

Mexico’s president, Lopez Obrador, is using his power over the U.S. border to minimize U.S. protests while he expands authoritarian rule in Mexico, said a tweet by author David Frum.

Obarado has long sought to swap border cooperation in exchange for more Mexicans and Latinos getting U.S. jobs that otherwise would go to Americans.

The White House’s official statement revealed little about the deal.

For example, it said, “Mexico will continue to accept back migrants on humanitarian grounds” without revealing the monthly cap on return. The current cap is just 30,000, which is far below the monthly arrival of more than 180,000 in April.

The statement does not discuss curbs on the flow of drugs into the United States, which now kill roughly 100,000 Americans each year.

The statement does not talk about the rising flood of global migrants from Chile, Colombia, India, China, Brazil, Cameroon, Nepal, Russia, and more than 150 other countries. Under Biden’s policies, very few migrants from those countries are being sent home. This passive policy ensures that successful migrants will summon many more migrants from their home countries.

Biden’s deputies want to import more foreigners for the jobs and homes that would otherwise go to Americans. For example, the pro-migration border chief, Alejandro Mayorkas, said on April 21:

Our model is as follows: Build lawful pathways, cut out the smugglers who exploit these vulnerable individuals. Build lawful pathways, give individuals an opportunity to reach the United States safely in an orderly way to avail themselves of the humanitarian relief our laws provide.

The White House statement did say that U.S. officials also plan to import another 100,000 poor migrants from Central America. The lucky migrants are the left-behind children of migrants who illegally sneaked into the U.S. economy.

The new pipeline comes after officials announced they would open two pipelines from Colombia and Panama, even as they expand many other inflows of migrants and visa workers.

“Everything that the Biden administration does has the effect of bringing more people into the United States who should not be here and do not have a right to be here,” said Jenks

In 1990, Congress set current immigration levels at about one million per year, alongside a flow of temporary workers for favored interest groups, including farmers, resort operators, and Fortune 500 companies. Those high caps provide roughly one immigrant for every four U.S. births but helped limit the migration-imposed damage to Americans’ national labor and housing markets.

Biden’s cooperation with other countries, and the establishment media, helped minimize the public recognition and response to Biden’s population policy. “They got away with [an inflow of] 4.5, to 6 million people over the last two years,” she said.

Despite the massive inflow, Biden’s deputies and their allies are portraying his border policies as a return to the l0w migraiton rules set by President Donald Trump and his deputies.

Extraction Migration

The federal government has long operated an unpopular economic policy of Extraction Migration. This colonialism-like policy extracts vast amounts of human resources from needy countries, reduces beneficial trade, and uses the imported workers, renters, and consumers to grow Wall Street and the economy.

The migrant inflow has successfully forced down Americans’ wages and also boosted rents and housing prices. The inflow has also pushed many native-born Americans out of careers in a wide variety of business sectors and contributed to the rising death rate of poor Americans.

The lethal policy also sucks jobs and wealth from heartland states by subsidizing coastal investors with a flood of low-wage workers, high-occupancy renters, and government-aided consumers.

The population inflow also reduces the political clout of native-born Americans, because the population replacement allows elites to divorce themselves from the needs and interests of ordinary Americans.

In many speeches, Mayorkas says he is building a mass migration system to deliver workers to wealthy employers and investors and “equity” to poor foreigners. The nation’s border laws are subordinate to elite opinion about “the values of our country,” Mayorkas claims.

Migration — and especially, labor migration — is unpopular among swing voters. A 54 percent majority of Americans say Biden is allowing a southern border invasion, according to an August 2022 poll commissioned by the left-of-center National Public Radio (NPR). The 54 percent “Invasion” majority included 76 percent of Republicans, 46 percent of independents, and even 40 percent of Democrats.

THE NEXT MEXICAN INVASION IS AT HAND:

"Mexican president candidate Andrés Manuel López Obrador called for mass immigration to the United States, declaring it a "human right". We will defend all the (Mexican) invaders in the American," Obrador said, adding that immigrants "must leave their towns and find a life, job, welfare, and free medical in the United States."

http://mexicanoccupation.blogspot.com/2018/07/mexican-president-andres-manuel-lopez.html

"Fox’s Tucker Carlson noted Thursday that Obrador has previously proposed granting AMNESTY TO MEXICAN DRUG CARTELS. “America is now Mexico’s social safety net, and that’s a very good deal for the Mexican ruling class,” Carlson added."

Mexico’s President Says Biden Responsible for Migrant Surge at Border

ILDEFONSO ORTIZ and BRANDON DARBY

Expectations created by President Joe Biden about better treatment for migrants led to the current border surge, said Mexico’s President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO).

During his daily news conference, AMLO spoke about the ongoing border crisis and said the increase in migrants entering Mexico and heading to the U.S. is partly due to the expectations created by President Biden.

AMLO: “Expectations were created that with the Government of President Biden there would be a better treatment of migrants. And this has caused Central American migrants, and also from our country, wanting to cross the border thinking that it is easier to do so” pic.twitter.com/TNrZQamuWK

“Expectations were created that with the Government of President Biden there would be a better treatment of migrants. And this has caused Central American migrants, and also from our country, wanting to cross the border thinking that it is easier to do so,” AMLO said.

The statements come one day after Mexico’s military confirmed the deployment of 8,700 soldiers to curb the growing number of migrants traveling through the country.

Mexico’s president says he will share with President Joe Biden his willingness to find a way to legalize the flow of migrants from Central America and Mexico as a way to meet American labor needs.

“I have a teleconference with Biden on Monday and we are going to talk about that topic,” President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO) said this weekend during one of his news conferences. “Let’s fix the migratory flow, legalizing it, to give guarantees to the workers so they don’t risk their lives, and that their human rights are protected.”

During the conference, AMLO said the U.S. would need about 600,000 to 800,000 laborers per year for economic growth. The Mexican politician brought up the Bracero program when the U.S. provided migrant farmworkers with permits during World War II.

The topic of the migrant workflow had not been previously discussed publicly by the Foreign Relations Ministry or the Interior Secretariat ahead of the virtual meeting between Lopez Obrador and Biden.

The issue comes as Mexican authorities see a dramatic rise in human smuggling activities as thousands of Central American migrants continue to make their way north. Mexican officials predicted a dramatic rise in migratory flows at the start of 2021 due to work shortages from the pandemic and recent natural disasters that shook Central America. Officials in Mexico did not publicly discuss the political effect that a Biden Administration would have on the matter.

Mexican authorities have found several large groups of migrants at hotels or being moved in tractor-trailers in recent weeks. Officials are also seeing a spike in ransom kidnappings where cartel-connected human smugglers hold migrants to further extort their families.

'Difficult To Describe With Words': CNN Reporter Stunned By Number of Illegal Immigrants In Texas City

Ben Wilson

May 2, 2023

A CNN reporter was left stunned by the number of illegal immigrants in El Paso, as the Texas city and dozens of others across the country struggle to address record migration.

"It’s difficult to describe, Jim, with words ... the magnitude of the number of individuals," reporter Rosa Flores said from a church in El Paso, where Democratic mayor Oscar Leeser declared a state of emergency this week ahead of the May 11 end of Title 42, a pandemic-era rule that allowed agents to turn migrants away at the border. Outside the church, CNN's camera captured dozens of migrants sitting on the sidewalk and street. The Biden administration is deploying troops to assist with administrative duties at the border when Title 42 ends.

"We are getting prepared now for what we call the unknown," said Leeser, who anticipates thousands of migrants to flood El Paso in the coming weeks.

The increased mainstream media coverage of the border crisis comes as more Democratic politicians speak out about the struggles in their cities.

New York City mayor Eric Adams (D.) lashed out at Texas governor Greg Abbott (R.) Tuesday for sending migrants to New York and other "black-run cities."

"This weekend, we learned that Governor Abbott is once again deciding to play politics with people's lives by resuming the busing of asylum seekers to New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Denver, and Washington, D.C.," Adams said Monday. "It is also impossible to ignore the fact that Abbott is now targeting five cities run by Black mayors. Put plainly, Abbott is using this crisis to hurt Black-run cities."

Lori Lightfoot (D.), the outgoing mayor of Chicago, said her city is "tapped out" of resources for migrants.

Despite the comments, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre falsely said Monday that illegal immigration has decreased "by more than 90 percent." Her comments mirror similar declarations of confidence in border security from President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Department of Homeland Security secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Illegal immigration actually hit a record high in 2022 of 2.76 million encounters.

Texas Governor Orders Effective Commerce Shutdown from Mexican State of Tamaulipas Amid Migrant Surge

Washington, D.C. (May 3, 2023) – The Center for Immigration Studies has confirmed that in a reprise of a controversial but successful diplomatic pressure tactic against Mexico from last year, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has ordered meticulous truck safety inspections once again that have shuttered a major commercial trucking artery from Mexico.

This comes as illegal border crossings have spiked in anticipation of the end of Title 42 expulsions on May 11. The bridge slowdown is “only a break-glass solution for when things get really bad,” one senior Abbott official told CIS.

The deployment of Texas Department of Public Safety vehicle safety inspection officers Tuesday has all but closed the trucking lanes at Veterans International Bridge from Matamoros into Brownsville.

“We’re doing 100 percent inspections, which means every truck will be inspected,” Texas DPS spokesman Chris Olivarez confirmed to CIS Wednesday.

“It’s indefinite,” Olivarez said. “We want to make sure the trucks are safe and they’re following state and federal regulations to make sure they are operating safety on Texas roadways.”

This week’s resurrection of the inspections regimen comes as Mexican authorities across in the state of Tamaulipas last week began to allow tens of thousands of immigrants to cross the Rio Grande from Matamoros – enticed by the Biden-Harris administration’s continuing mass releases of border crossers into the American interior. The Biden government and many experts expect the surge to worsen in the coming days, ahead of the May 11 demise of the federal Title 42 rapid expulsion policy.

Todd Bensman, the Center’s senior national security fellow, writes, “While the state police agency may publicly insist these inspections are for public safety purposes, circumstances more persuasively suggest the Texas governor once again hopes to use this hard-nosed trade disruption tactic to economically pressure his Mexican counterparts into slowing a powerful, gathering surge of illegal immigrant crossings that is now underway from Matamoros into Brownsville, and also from Juarez into El Paso, at the other end of the Texas-Mexico border.”

One year ago, Abbott’s truck inspections tactic brought four Mexican governors to the bargaining table to sign agreements that their state police agencies would stop a 15,000-immigrant caravan on its way to the border and to then work more generally with Texas to slow illegal immigration on the Mexican side.

Analysis: Biden Projected to Bring over 2 Million Illegal Aliens to U.S. this Year

Likely more than two million border crossers and illegal aliens are expected to be encountered at the United States-Mexico border by the end of September, a new analysis projects.

In President Joe Biden’s first year in office, Steven Kopits with Princeton Policy Advisors accurately projected that about two million border crossers and illegal aliens would be encountered along the southern border.

Likewise, in 2022, Kopits correctly projected that more than 2.3 million border crossers and illegal aliens would be encountered at the border, for a total of about 4.2 million border encounters in Biden’s first two years, with millions of those being released into the U.S. interior.

For fiscal year 2023, which ends in September, Kopits estimates that more than two million border crossers and illegal aliens will have been encountered at the border — slightly down from his prior projection showing 2.7 million may be encountered.

“… [O]ur forecast for Fiscal Year 2023 apprehensions still constitutes the second worst year on record, better only than last year,” Kopits writes, calling the projected mass migration “still dreadful.”

That projection, Kopits suggests, is likely to rise as the Biden administration tests a host of Catch and Release programs like the Customs and Border Protection One (CBP One) mobile app which allows foreign nationals to schedule appointments at the border for release into the U.S. interior.

Biden is set to have about 30,000 foreign nationals released into the U.S. interior every month via the migrant mobile app, and already more than 30,000 have been released since the app’s start date in mid-January.

Foreign nationals using the migrant mobile app have a 99 percent success rate of getting released into the U.S. interior after scheduling their appointments at the border, data shows.

Susan Rice To Leave Biden Admin Amid Migrant Child Labor Scandal

Under Holder’s watch at the DOJ Civil Rights Division, more

than half of all the lawyers hired were chosen from four

radical, anti-American organizations: the ACLU, National

Council of La Raza, NAACP, Mexican American Legal Defense

and Education Fund, and the Lawyer’s Committee for Civil

Rights, John Fund and Hans von Spakovsky outlined in their

2014 book, “Obama’s Enforcer: Eric Holder’s Justice Department.”

Many families in Third World Countries have large numbers of children.  If, for argument sake 25 million illegal aliens were to participate in the Biden/Harris Amnesty and if the average alien has four children, we could witness an immediate influx of 100 million alien children enter the United States! MICHAEL CUTLER.

Democrats are also trying to split the GOP by spotlighting the planned E-Verify curbs on the hiring of illegals by farm companies. Those curbs are being denounced by Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA), who owns several orchards in Washington state, according to the New York Times:

It’s necessary to “have a legal pathway for people to come in and be able to work,” said Representative Dan Newhouse, Republican of Washington State, himself a farmer, in an interview. He noted that Congress would have to authorize new immigrant visas alongside mandating E-Verify to avoid a devastating blow to the agricultural sector.

As recent illegals are handed work permits, previous illegals ask the obvious question: Why not us, too?

Migrants who come here claiming 'asylum' from persecution have made it pretty clear in interviews and news stories that what they really want are work permits.

They are now getting work permits because their political and NGO lobbies are advocating for them.

According to Axios:

As President Joe Biden visits Chicago on Monday, he's likely to get an earful from local leaders about the city's need for more federal help, specifically on work permits for new immigrants.

Why it matters: Less than 10% of new arrivals have obtained work permits, making it harder for them to exit shelters and making it legally perilous for employers to give them jobs — even those desperate for workers.

Driving the news: Last week, Mayor Brandon Johnson joined with local migrant advocates to again call on Biden to expand work permit eligibility to allow for more permits, including for those who have been here for many years.

But don't think it stops there.

Now the previous migrants want them, too, which could be as many as 30 million foreign nationals. And they've got their advocates in the political and NGO community pressuring government for those, too.

ABC7's narrator reported:

But for many in communities like Little Village, this new program is somewhat bittersweet because while it's helping new migrants, many people who have waited for years to get their work permits, are still left waiting:

NGO leader: There are families that have been waiting for 15, 20 years. Reagan launched the last amnesty. So, ever since then, people have been slowly trying to get their legal status. But all the barriers this puts is very hard.

You can see their point of view: They've been toiling in low-paid and informal economy jobs with fake identification, stolen identification, or no identification, for years, so to see new arrivals get handed work permits on the spot, as is happening in Chicago and in other places, has got to be galling.

The Chicago Sun-Times ran an op-ed calling for work permits for all, too:

We, along with a coalition of more than 85 nonprofit organizations, business leaders, faith organizations, and elected officials, call on Biden to extend work permits to all undocumented workers as quickly as possible. This move would be a heavy political lift, but it would help fill job vacancies while catalyzing economic growth, enhancing tax revenue, and fortifying workplace protections for those who have long contributed to our communities from the shadows.

They claimed that in Illinois, there are only 75 workers to fill every 100 work slots.

Welcome to the world of special-interest carveouts, and whether anyone admits it or not, the border-surge illegals of today have become their own special interest group competing with all other special interest groups for benefits, and have found themselves on top of the priority heap.

If handing out work permits for all is the next logical outcome of the border surge, then it's obvious that there's no point to obeying immigration law at all. Only a sucker would do it. Citizenship of the U.S. or having a valid green card is now pretty much meaningless now that everyone gets to work.

Yet for blue city leaders, bankrupted by having to provide services for so many new arrivals, it seems like an idea worth advocating for just to lower the welfare rolls.

However, it isn't the panacea that blue-city officials think it will be. It means that American workers are in for 30 million or 40 million new foreign competitors for the jobs they're seeking here at home. Already foreigners, presumably from immigrant networks here at home are claiming nearly all the new jobs created that the Biden administration is touting, some 303,000 jobs created in the last month alone. Instead of corporate outsourcing, Joe Biden is importing the competition in.

And with work permits becoming another migrant entitlement for millions, where are these jobs going to come from? Under Democrats, the economy doesn't produce jobs to accomodate all, because under Democrats and their mandates and regulations and taxes, the economy is not allowed to grow. Even if Illinois has 25 job openings for migrants for every 100 jobs created, issuing work permits to all comers will surely leave a lot of the 30 million without jobs, and they all want them right now.

It's a bad idea loaded with unintended consequences and all it will do is incentivize further illegal immigration. No work permits should be issued at all to foreign lawbreakers. Reserve those jobs for legal immigrants who have followed the law. If that's not done, we can all see where this is going to lead -- to voting rights, full amnesty, and citizenship. We know what the long game is here.

Harris, who is ostensibly in charge of managing the administration's response to the crisis, has only been to the border once, in June 2021. In January of this year, she visited the border state of Arizona but didn't discuss the crisis. Instead, she talked about green energy projects.
