West Virginia legislators are asking Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) to back away from his support for a Democrat, filibuster-proof budget that includes giving amnesty to millions of illegal aliens against the interests of working and middle class West Virginians.

This week, Manchin reportedly voiced support for giving amnesty to illegal aliens through a Democrat budget that would only be approved via reconciliation — a maneuver that allows Senate Democrats to pass a variety of agenda items with just 51 votes and no threat of a filibuster.

On Thursday, 32 legislators from West Virginia’s House of Delegates — led by Delegate Riley Keaton — wrote to Manchin, requesting that he drop support for passing amnesty via reconciliation, according to the letter shared with Breitbart News.

“We, the undersigned members of the House of Delegates, urge you to oppose any effort to include amnesty for illegal immigrants in the budget bill, especially over the objections of the Senate Parliamentarian,” the legislators write:

Amnesty for illegal immigrants redistributes wealth from working class Americans through increased economic competition. Academic research has found, time and again, that immigration, especially illegal immigration, has a direct, negative impact on the Americans we should be trying to help get ahead – the working class. In his landmark study, Immigration and the American Worker (2013), Harvard University Professor Dr. George Borjas reports, “Some groups of workers face a great deal of competition from immigrants. These workers are primarily, but by no means exclusively, at the bottom end of the skill distribution, doing low-wage jobs that require modest levels of education. Such workers make up a significant share of the nation’s working poor. The biggest winners from immigration are owners of businesses that employ a lot of immigrant labor and other users of immigrant labor.” Prioritizing the interests of workers over corporations demanding cheap labor means opposing amnesty in the budget deal. [Emphasis added]

National sovereignty does not exist if we do not have borders. In May of this year, US Customs and Border Protection encountered over 180,000 cases of illegal entry across the southern border. You were right to call the situation on the southern border a “crisis” in March. Amnesty for illegal immigrants signals to the rest of the world that there is a “borders-optional” way of achieving legal status in the United States. Illegal immigration peaks after amnesties – going all the way back to the 1980s. Our national sovereignty depends on enforcement of our immigration laws and securing our border, and amnesty signals the exact opposite approach. [Emphasis added]

America is the land of opportunity because of our shared respect for the rule of law. Last summer, the rule of law took a serious beating as many of our great American cities were ceded to rioters. In the aftermath, FBI LEOKA data reports that murders and assaults against law enforcement officers surged over 30% in the early part of this year. The case has already been made that amnesty for illegal immigrants leaves us with a “borders-optional” society, but more concerningly is that amnesty leaves us with a “laws-optional” society. The fact of the matter is: there is a knowable, legal process for coming to and living in the United States and those who did not follow the law should not be rewarded for breaking it. We’ve learned all-to-well the consequences of relegating the rule of law to an afterthought – let’s not play with any more fire. [Emphasis added]

The legislators who signed the letter include:

Riley Keaton, Josh Holstein, Dean Jefferies, Joe Jeffries, Dana Ferrell, Charles Horst, Doug Smith, Charlie Reynolds, Chris Pritt, John Mandt, Roger Conley, Wayne Clark, Jordan Bridges, George Miller, Todd Longanacre, Don Forsht, Johnnie Wamsley, Phil Mallow, Heather Tully, Guy Ward, Bryan Ward, Adam Burkhammer, Margitta Mazzocchi, Terri Sypolt, Barry Bruce, Trenton Barnhart, Chris Phillips, Jonathon Pinson, Ty Nestor, Clay Riley, Austin Haynes, and Caleb Hanna.

Manchin on Amnesty by John Binder

Keaton told Breitbart News that, specifically, an amnesty would devastate blue collar West Virginians in the construction industry who would be forced to compete against a wave of newly legalized illegal aliens, who often work for below market rate wages.

“A very large share of jobs in our economy added recently are construction jobs,” Keaton said. “Construction workers in West Virginia are the most prone to competition with illegal immigrants. This is a well-known fact.

“An amnesty triggers the immediate legalization of foreign competition and signals to the world that our borders are flexible,” Keaton continued. “The increased labor market competition is just too much.”

Today, West Virginia has a 5.5 percent unemployment rate — just slightly lower than the national unemployment rate. Jobless Americans, research has shown, would be negatively impacted the most by an amnesty as it crushes their job prospects while cutting wages to help businesses boost their profit margins.

In addition to more illegal immigration, Keaton said an amnesty would exacerbate the nation’s ongoing drug crisis.

Last year, Americans who died from drug overdoses hit the highest level in U.S. history with more than 93,000 dead. In West Virginia, there were nearly 1,400 drug overdoses in 2020 — a 50 percent increase in overdose deaths compared to 2019.

“This is something that we’ve lived with,” Keaton said. “Those drugs, many are coming across the southern border. Our drug problem can be traced back to China and moved across the southern border. It’s not a political issue.”

President Joe Biden’s administration is using the United States Armed Forces to help fly illegal aliens into the interior of the U.S., Fox News’s Tucker Carlson reveals.

On Wednesday evening, Carlson unveiled internal emails in which Lt. Col. Matthew Burrows informs military personnel that commercial planes at Laughlin Air Force Base, east of Del Rio, Texas, will board and fly illegal aliens into the U.S. interior.

Burrows, Carlson noted, asked personnel to keep the operation from becoming public.

“This show has confirmed that the Biden administration has enlisted the U.S. military, secretly, around our country,” Carlson said. That is happening at Laughlin Air Force Base in Texas. We know it’s happening there because a man called Lt. Col. Matthew Burrows sent his subordinates spelling it out very clearly.”

Burrows’ email reads, “Over the next few days, weeks, or months, you may see passenger aircraft on our ramp transporting undocumented non-citizens. Please review the attached public affairs guidance on the issue” [Emphasis added].

“Burrows’ email then instructed uniformed military personnel to hide what was happening on the base from the country they’re sworn to serve,” Carlson continued:

Carlson said the Pentagon confirmed to him that the secretive operation is occurring under the guise of the Department of Homeland Security’s “mission.” The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency, though, refused to disclose where in the U.S. illegal aliens are being flown.

“ICE did not deny they were using Laughlin Air Force Base to relocate large numbers of foreign nationals into the interior of our country and do it secretly,” Carlson said. “The question is, where are all these people going? Several times, ICE promised us additional details. But in the end, we never heard back. Apparently, Americans do not have a right to know where foreign nationals are being resettled in their own country.”

“What you’re watching is demographic transformation in our country without our consent and in violation of our laws. That is happening,” Carlson continued.

For months, Breitbart News has chronicled the Biden administration’s expansive Catch and Release operation through which at least tens of thousands of illegal aliens are being briefly detained, put up in migrant hotels, then bused or flown into the U.S. interior with only the promise that they will show up to their asylum hearings months, or a year, later.

In June, Breitbart News reported that it is not only border crossing family units that are being resettled via the Catch and Release operation. The Biden administration is busing and flying single male adult border crossers into U.S. cities that remain undisclosed to American citizens.

The latest available data, from February 19 to April 22, reveals that the Biden administration has flown about 7,200 border-crossers into the U.S. interior on domestic commercial flights. Border crossers are allowed to bypass photo identification requirements, boarding flights without a photo ID, and do not have to prove they are negative for the Chinese coronavirus.

Poll: Swing State Democrats Face Alienating Voters If They Support Amnesty Deal

Swing state Senate Democrats face alienating their constituents if they vote for a Democrat budget, via filibuster-proof reconciliation, that includes amnesty for millions of illegal aliens, a poll provided to Breitbart News shows.

This week, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) reportedly voiced support for giving amnesty to illegal aliens through a Democrat budget that would only be approved via reconciliation — a maneuver that would only have to be supported by a simple majority of Senators.

Should other swing state Senate Democrats follow Manchin in their support for the backdoor amnesty deal, new polling shows they stand to lose significant swaths of likely voters in their states.

The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR)/Zogby Analytics poll, provided to Breitbart News, looks at six swing state Senate Democrats: Arizona’s Mark Kelly and Kyrsten Sinema, West Virginia’s Joe Manchin, New Hampshire’s Jeanne Shaheen, Georgia’s Raphael Warnock, and Nevada’s Catherine Cortez Masto.

Warnock, Kelly, and Cortez Masto would be up for re-election in 2022 while Sinema and Manchin do not face re-election until 2024. Shaheen’s re-election is in 2026.

In each of the Senators’ cases, when likely voters in their states were asked if they would be less or more likely to vote for them if they support amnesty through reconciliation, either a plurality or majority said they would be less likely to back them.

As Breitbart News reported, nearly 55 percent of West Virginia likely voters said they would be less likely to vote for Manchin if he does indeed support amnesty via reconciliation.

Similar results for the other Senators are detailed in the poll:

Sinema in Arizona

  • 55 percent of voters less likely to support her
  • 22 percent of voters more likely to support her

Kelly in Arizona

  • 49 percent of voters less likely to support him
  • 27 percent of voters more likely to support him

Warnock in Georgia

  • 50 percent of voters less likely to support him
  • 29 percent of voters more likely to support him

Shaheen in New Hampshire:

  • 50 percent of voters less likely to support her
  • 21 percent of voters more likely to support her

Cortez Masto in Nevada:

  • 47 percent of voters less likely to support her
  • 28 percent of voters more likely to support her

Likewise, majorities from 52 to 57 percent in Arizona, Georgia, New Hampshire, Nevada, and West Virginia say amnesty for illegal aliens will encourage more illegal immigration to the U.S.

In March, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) reported that the Democrats’ Dream and Promise Act amnesty plan would cost Americans more than $35 billion over the course of ten years.

A report by the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) last month found that amnesty for illegal aliens would worsen the nation’s ongoing unemployment crisis where nearly 16 million Americans remain jobless — many of whom reside in these swing states.

“Allowing all illegal immigrants who came at younger ages or have TPS status to stay and giving them all legal status so they compete with legal immigrants and the native-born throughout the labor market will likely make it increasingly difficult to draw more Americans back into the labor market,” CIS researchers noted.

The poll surveyed 600 likely voters in each state from July 9 to July 12.
