Years Late and Millions Short on Hunter Biden

Michael Isikoff, once the top investigative reporter for Newsweek, tweeted something unintentionally humorous about a New York Times story.

"In the category of — didn't see this coming," he wrote, "The @nytimes confirms the authenticity of Hunter Biden emails derived from his laptop that had been previously dismissed as Russian disinformation."

The obvious joke about "didn't see this coming" is that Hunter Biden's laptop is one of those scandals that they would prefer to squash until about 2028. In October 2020, Twitter and Facebook heavily censored New York Post stories on Biden's laptop with the excuse that "security officials" (guess which party) cried, "Russian plot."

As columnist Tim Carney notes, it's late for griping about Big Tech censorship back then, but it still underlines the question, "Just what are the tech platforms and the major media colluding to lie about right now? What are our gatekeepers covering up today?"

Let's add to that: Why is a news story "illegitimate" until "prestige media" outlets arrive on the scene years after the original conservative scoops? The Times story was buried on page A-20 of the print edition on St. Patrick's Day.

In the second half of paragraph 23, the trio of Katie Benner, Kenneth Vogel, and Michael Schmidt announced the Times obtained the emails "from a cache of files that appears to have come from a laptop that was left abandoned by Mr. Biden in a Delaware repair shop." Appears?

The Hunter Biden story was blandly blurbed on the bottom of the front page as "Biden's Son Pays a Tax Bill." It sounded as harmless as a kiddie book like "Curious George Saves His Pennies." The TV networks yawned and reported nothing.

The headline inside also said "Biden's Son Paid Off Tax Bill, but Still Faces Inquiry by Grand Jury." The Times couldn't even note in the blurb or headline that the tax payoff was said to be more than $1 million. We're told that paying off your (huge) tax liability is one way to make it harder for prosecutors to win a criminal conviction for tax avoidance.

Biden is also being investigated for failing to register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) in all of his international exploitation of Vice President Daddy. The Times reported that the laptop emails show Hunter was sensitive to avoiding any FARA problems.

In his dealings with the Ukrainian oil and gas firm Burisma, Biden recommended enlisting the law firm where he worked at the time, Boies Schiller Flexner, to "devise a media plan and arrange for legal protections and mitigate U.S. domestic negative press regarding the current leadership if need be."

One wonders if they really needed much help in "mitigating negative press" with the New York Times and the rest. Maybe they meant conservative outlets like Fox and the New York Post.

At the end of the story, the Times reported on prosecutors meeting with a "former employee of Mr. Biden's, Lunden Alexis Roberts," asking "which corporate entity" Hunter used to pay her for...nine months. This is obfuscating the woman who the racier New York Post described as Hunter's "baby mama," the "stripper." Roberts, who once danced at the Mpire Gentleman's Club in Washington, D.C., has a 3-year-old daughter fathered by Hunter named Navy Roberts. The little girl was unsurprisingly left out of the grandchild stockings on display at the White House last Christmas.

This is where you laugh at reporters who boast that "our only bias is in favor of a good story." Juicy stories dry up and waste away all the time when they're about Democrats.

Issa: Congress Must Probe Big Tech, Media Collusion in Shutting Down Hunter Biden Story Before Election

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) called for a Congressional probe into big tech and corporate media’s collusion concerning the blackout of reports on Hunter Biden’s laptop weeks before the 2020 presidential election.

“Tonight, I’m calling for a Congressional investigation into how big tech, mainstream media, and the Democrat industrial complex colluded to suppress the Hunter Biden scandals — and during the last days of the 2020 election,” Rep. Issa tweeted.

The New York Post first reported on Hunter Biden’s laptop in October 2020, just weeks before the election. The laptop revealed Hunter Biden’s involvement in pursuing lucrative overseas business deals.

According to the Post:

The laptop’s hard drive contained a trove of emails, text messages, photos and financial documents between Hunter Biden, his family and business associates — detailing how the president’s son used his political leverage in his overseas business dealings.

Despite the massive story involving President Joe Biden’s son, the corporate media stayed silent and big tech engaged in a massive censorship campaign to prevent the reports from spreading.

Corporate media attempted to link the story to Russian intelligence, and some organizations flat out ignored the story. NPR notoriously said, “We don’t want to waste our time on stories that are not really stories, and we don’t want to waste the listeners’ and readers’ time on stories that are just pure distractions.”

Twitter even went so far as to shut down the New York Post’account when the Post released the report.

More than one year into Joe Biden’s presidency, corporate media now admits the authenticity of Hunter Biden’s laptop. A New York Times story released Wednesday about the ongoing federal investigation into Hunter Biden said, “The email and others in the cache were authenticated by people familiar with them and with the investigation.”

Issa’s call for a congressional investigation into big tech and corporate media’s handling of the Hunter Biden laptop story comes just days after Issa announced Congressional Republicans are “preparing” for a legion of “watchdogs” to “hold this President accountable in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News.

“You’ve got to believe that Congress’s other duties pale in comparison to being a watchdog,” Issa told Breitbart News.

REPORT: DOJ to Propose Rolling Back Big Tech’s Legal Immunity

The Department of Justice is preparing proposals to roll back the legal immunities enjoyed by Big Tech companies under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (CDA), in measures that will be announced as early as Wednesday, sources told the Wall Street Journal.

Via the WSJ:

The Justice Department is set to propose a rollback of legal protections that online platforms have enjoyed for more than two decades, in an effort to make tech companies more responsible in how they police their content, according to a Trump administration official.

Section 230 gives Big Tech companies immunity from lawsuits arising from user-generated content. If a person is defamed on Google, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or other big tech platforms like Reddit, those platforms are not legally liable for the content like a traditional publisher might be. This allows social media platforms to host billions of posts from users without a potentially crippling legal risk.

As Big Tech platforms have grown increasingly interested in censoring content posted by their users, however, many lawmakers have argued that they are behaving like traditional publishers, censoring and editing and approving their users’ posts. As such, a growing number of lawmakers have argued that the legal immunities of Section 230 should be contingent on platforms maintaining a hands-off approach to the speech of their users.

Another problematic element of Section 230 is subsection c-2, which grants tech companies immunity from lawsuits arising from their censorship of “objectionable” content. This immunity gives them broad leeway to censor users, leaving no legal recourse for those who are censored — even if their social media accounts are critical to their livelihood or career.

However, according to the Wall Street Journal, the Justice Department’s proposals go beyond merely addressing the question of censorship:

The department’s proposal, for instance, would remove legal protections when platforms facilitate or solicit third-party content or activity that violates federal criminal law, such as online scams and trafficking in illicit drugs.  The department also wouldn’t confer immunity to platforms in instances involving online child exploitation and sexual abuse, terrorism or cyberstalking.  Those carve-outs are needed to curtail immunity for internet companies to allow victims to seek redress, the official said.

The Justice Department also will seek to make clear that tech platforms don’t have immunity in civil-enforcement actions brought by the federal government, and can’t use immunity as a defense against antitrust claims that they removed content for anticompetitive reasons.

According to the report, it also appears that the Justice Department won’t try to strip tech companies of their immunity for censoring “objectionable” content, instead aim to spur Big Tech to be “fairer and more consistent in their decisions to take down content they find objectionable.”

Mark Zuckerberg: Facebook’s Goal Is to Register 4 Million (ILLEGAL) Voters

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg penned an op-ed for USA Today this week in which he announced this his company is implementing strategies that will educate Americans on the importance of voting this November. The company’s goal is to register four million new voters for the 2020 election. Zuckerberg also stated that Facebook may censor posts from politicians that violate community guidelines.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg penned an op-ed in USA Today that was published this week in which he explained the various ways in which Facebook plans to “strengthen democracy” ahead of the November elections.

Zuckerberg specifically noted that Facebook will encourage users to register to vote. The company has set a goal of 4 million new voters registered for the 2020 election. Various election-focused resources will be available to users at the top of the Facebook News Feed until voting occurs in November.

To achieve this, we’re creating a new Voting Information Center with authoritative information, including how and when to vote, as well as details about voter registration, voting by mail and information about early voting. We’ll also include posts from state election officials and verified local election authorities. We’ll show this center at the top of the Facebook News Feed and on Instagram to make sure everyone gets a chance to see it.

Zuckerberg wrote that Facebook will begin to hold politicians accountable for certain content that they share on the platform. Zuckerberg suggested that he is sympathetic to requests to censor politicians that violate community guidelines.

Everyone wants to see politicians held accountable for what they say — and I know many people want us to moderate and remove more of their content. We have rules against speech that will cause imminent physical harm or suppress voting, and no one is exempt from them. But accountability only works if we can see what those seeking our votes are saying, even if we viscerally dislike what they say.

Zuckerberg also noted that Facebook will introduce a feature that will allow users to block political advertisements from their feed.

By giving people a voice, registering and turning out voters, and preventing interference, I believe Facebook is supporting and strengthening our democracy in 2020 and beyond. And for those of you who’ve already made up your minds and just want the election to be over, we hear you — so we’re also introducing the ability to turn off seeing political ads. We’ll still remind you to vote.

Hunter Biden’s ‘Laptop from Hell’ Repairman Says Life Upended, Bankruptcy Looms

The man who used to own the Delaware computer repair shop where Hunter Biden left his notorious “laptop from hell” says bankruptcy looms, as his life has been turned upside down by private citizens, tech giants, and federal agencies since the contents of the laptop became public.

John Paul Mac Isaac, 45, tells the New York Post that he received a slew of death threats after the bombshell revelations on Biden’s laptop became public and noted a Wilmington state trooper had to maintain a constant presence outside of his shop in Trolley Square.

He added:

There were multiple situations where people came in and you could tell they were not there to have a computer fixed. And if there were not other people in the shop, I don’t know what would have happened. I was having vegetables, eggs, dog s–t thrown at the shop every morning.

Mac Isaac previously told Breitbart News that Hunter Biden dropped the computer off at his shop on April 12, 2019, to conduct a “data recovery.” He says he called Biden the next day to inform him the recovery was completed, but Hunter never picked it up.

“I became concerned over some of the content I was viewing,” Mac Isaac told Breitbart News. He informed the FBI of the device before bringing it to former New York City Mayor Rudy Guiliani. Eventually, the New York Post came into possession of the laptop’s contents and published a series of reports on them in October 2020, in the lead-up to the 2020 election — which was extensively covered by Breitbart news.

“The laptop reportedly contained emails detailing Hunter Biden’s businesses with Burisma, a Ukrainian natural gas company, and potential business deals with a Chinese energy company,” Breitbart News reported.

Mac Issac tells the Post that the circumstances surrounding his involvement with the laptop devolved into such chaos that he had to close his shop, and noted that on November 5, 2020 — just two days after the presidential election — he took off for Lakewood, Colorado. The 45-year-old says he stayed there with his family for about a year and took classes in woodworking.

Mac Isaac tells the Post he applied for unemployment in December of 2020, though his unemployment cases were repeatedly closed and he had to use his 401k funds to cover bills. He then sent a letter to Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE), a close ally of President Joe Biden, last December.

“I would hate to think that I was singled out in a politically motivated attack. If a state agency was weaponized to punish a perceived political enemy, the country has a right to know,” he wrote to Coons, according to the Post. Following the letter, he began receiving unemployment funds, though he says it ended up being a few thousand short of what he was owed.

Making matters worse, Mac Isaac sued Twitter over the platform’s censorship of stories regarding Hunter Biden’s laptop, according to the Post. Six months after the filing, a Florida judge dismissed the case with prejudice and ordered Mac Isaac to cover Twitter’s legal fees, which he says is in the ballpark of $175,000.

“Bankruptcy looks like my only option,” he tells the Post, noting he now does odd jobs. “A buddy of mine does estate clean outs, manual labor. I helped a neighbor redo their porch and I’m trying to do more with woodworking.”

Moreover, Mac Isaac told the Post that last September, he received an IRS invoice regarding his tax return from 2016, which he took as a threat. When he showed it to an accountant pal, his friend noted that the agency does not “go back that far unless they’re looking for something,” Mac Isaac says. He swiftly paid the sum of nearly $60, the Post reports. He noted that he had seen the progressive weaponization of the IRS over the past decade and decided not to contest the agency.

Throughout 2021, Mac Isaac says Facebook censored his posts on the platform, leading to a suspension in September, before He successfully appealed the determination, the Post reports.

The former computer technician now finds himself in uncharted territory. He has written a book chronicling his life since the laptop’s revelations went public, but he has not found a publisher willing to work with him, the Post notes. Though his life has been upended, he says he would do it again.

“If I had the choice to do it again, I would absolutely do it again,” he told the Post. “I was raised since 9/11 to believe if you see something you say something.”

Exclusive — Frank Gaffney: Congress Must Investigate CCP Links to Biden Admin

Frank Gaffney

Frank Gaffney, executive chairman and founder of the Center for Security Policy, questions whether the Biden administration’s “wrecking operation” against the United States may be the result of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) use of “elite capture” to “compromise” President Joe Biden and senior White House officials.

The policies of Biden’s administration undermine America’s national interests while benefiting the CCP, Gaffney said on Wednesday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with special guest host Matt Boyle. The White House’s conduct — including revelations made by Peter Schweizer in Red-Handed: How American Elites Get Rich Helping China Win — warrant investigation by select committees in both houses of Congress, he argued.

Gaffney remarked:

The unified field theory that I think is in order here is that we are now not simply being subjected to what I’ve long characterized on this program and elsewhere as a wrecking operation perpetrated by the Biden-Harris administration on our country, but that when you start looking at, well, just about every aspect of it, it’s not just doing damage to us. It’s benefiting the Chinese Communist Party.

The question that my unified field theory poses is: Is it possible that not only has the Biden-Harris administration been doing such things — and there many more of course, but such things just as examples — to devastate our country, to weaken it, to take it down, but that it’s actually doing it at the bidding of the people [the CCP] who have deeply compromised not only Joe Biden, but many in his senior subordinate leadership?

That’s a question that demands — it seems to me at this point — congressional investigation, media inquiries, investigation by other national security practitioners, if not by the Justice Department and the counterintelligence services, such as they are, of our intelligence community.

Boyle synthesized Gaffney’s arguments in the interview as he said, “What you’re saying is … we need a select committee from Congress to investigate the efforts of the Chinese Communist Party to compromise, not just President Biden and his family, but more broadly his administration.”

“Absolutely,” replied Gaffney, “I’m not holding my breath that Nancy Pelosi or Chuck Schumer will do this, but it’s needed.”

Gaffney noted that the Biden administration’s restrictions on fossil fuel resource development — marketed by the White House as measures to combat “climate change” and a “climate emergency” — harm America’s national interests by artificially suppressing the global supply of oil and driving up costs for the global commodity. These ostensibly “environmental” policies, he warned, threaten the U.S. dollar’s status as the world’s reserve currency.

The White House again sidestepped new reports on Thursday that information from Hunter Biden’s recovered laptop was real and not Russian disinformation.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki refused to address new reporting from the New York Times finally confirming the authenticity of damning information about the Biden family from the infamous laptop.

“I’d point you to the Department of Justice and Hunter Biden’s representatives,” Psaki said to a reporter when asked if she still stood by her claim that the laptop was Russian disinformation.

“I’m a spokesperson for the United States, he doesn’t work for the United States,” she concluded before moving to another question.

Psaki also refused to address President Joe Biden’s claim that the information on the laptop was a “bunch of garbage” and a “Russian plant.”

“I’d point you to the Department of Justice and also Hunter Biden’s representatives,” she replied. “He doesn’t work in the government.”

The New York Times reported Wednesday that Hunter Biden borrowed money to pay a tax bill that was over a million dollars as the Justice Department investigation into his international business deals continue.

During the 2020 presidential campaign, Psaki shared disinformation about the laptop, suggesting it was a Russian attempt to influence the election. In September, Psaki dismissed the laptop as part of “a broad range of Russian disinformation back in 2020” when asked about the laptop.
