Abortion advocates are spending millions of dollars to rally supporters before the midterms, but some Democrats and their allies say it won't be enough to bring success in November, according to a Politico report.
While pro-abortion advocacy groups like EMILY’s List, Planned Parenthood, and NARAL have pledged a "historic" $150 million in 2022, Democrats are cautioning against running on the issue. "Democrats can’t rely on one issue or one problem to change people’s minds," said Nebraska state senator Megan Hunt, when asked about the 2022 elections. Democratic pollster Josh Ulibarri also doubts abortion advocacy will usher in Democratic victories due to inflation, rising costs, and supply-chain problems.
"Is that more powerful than when a voter looks at their receipt when they check out at Target?" Ulibarri said.
Political operatives began the midterm messaging strategy after a leaked draft opinion revealed the Supreme Court plans to overturn Roe v. Wade this month. Recent polls have shown, however, that Americans are still more concerned about record-high inflation under President Joe Biden than potential abortion regulations. Just 10 percent of voters say abortion is their biggest concern, whereas 55 percent of Americans are more worried about inflation. A majority of suburban Phoenix women are more worried about inflation than the Court overturning Roe, according to a May Reuters report.
National Right to Life president Carol Tobias told the Washington Free Beacon the Democratic Party's support for no-limit abortion up until birth lacks public support, which will limit their electoral victories.
"What voters won't hear from that $150 million spending spree is that Democrats want abortion for any reason, without limit, through all nine months of pregnancy, up to the moment of birth," Tobias said.
Democrats could suffer a "greater-than-average" loss in the 2022 midterm elections, according to a new Gallup poll, as less than 15 percent of Americans have a positive view of economic conditions under the Democratic administration.

Congressional Democrats wrote to Google’s parent company on Friday to pressure the search engine to suppress results that offer alternatives to abortion.
Sen. Mark Warner (D., Va.), Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D., Mich.), and 19 other lawmakers wrote urging Google to "limit the appearance" or add "user friendly disclaimers" of pro-life clinics in search results. The Democrats said they want to "ensure women seeking health care services are directed to the basic information they request."
Animosity toward pro-life pregnancy centers and offices has increased since a draft opinion of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health decision was leaked in May, showing a plan to overturn the original 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling. Dozens of crisis pregnancy centers have been vandalized since the leak. Many of these attacks have not been federally investigated, as the Justice Department official responsible has refused to intervene.
The Democrats' letter cites a report from the Center for Countering Digital Hate, a nonprofit that has advocated for big tech censorship in the United Kingdom. Lobbyists who have worked for CCDH have also lobbied for Microsoft and green energy companies. The study logged Google search results for "abortion clinic near me" and "abortion pill" in states with abortion trigger laws.
Researchers recorded search results that qualify as "anti-abortion fake clinics." Planned Parenthood defines "fake clinics" as "clinics or mobile vans that look like real health centers, but they have a shady, harmful agenda: to scare, shame, or pressure you out of getting an abortion … their goal is to spread misinformation and propaganda."
The research found that 11 percent of search results and 37 percent of Google Maps results led to so-called fake clinics which, according to Planned Parenthood, may offer "free pregnancy tests, abortion counseling, pre-abortion screenings, abortion education, post-abortion care, or after-abortion help."
The lawmakers said CCDH’s findings "undermines the integrity of Google’s search results," adding, "if Google must continue showing these misleading results in search results and Google Maps, the results should, at the very least, be appropriately labeled."

Planned Parenthood improperly took tens of millions of dollars' worth of government loans intended to help businesses during the coronavirus, according to a group of Republicans who want to see the organization investigated.
House lawmakers accused Planned Parenthood of unlawfully using the Small Business Administration's COVID-response program, the Paycheck Protection Program, to obtain millions of dollars in taxpayer funds. Reps. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R., Mo.) and Byron Donalds (R., Fla.) wrote that the Committee on Small Business is calling for the Department of the Treasury and the Small Business Administration to investigate the organization's actions.
"We insist that the SBA and the Department of the Treasury investigate 1.) the distribution of these loans in violation of the relevant affiliation rules and 2.) whether Planned Parenthood violated the law," the lawmakers wrote in a Friday letter.
In May 2020, the multibillion-dollar organization came under fire for taking $80 million in small-business assistance loans. Planned Parenthood said that its local affiliates qualified for the assistance. The Small Business Administration, however, demanded the money be returned, saying local branches were too closely associated with the national organization to be considered independent. Now, GOP lawmakers are looking for answers as to whether or not the organization broke the law.
"At a time where small-business owners are working tirelessly to open their doors and contribute to their communities again, we must ensure the SBA is using relief funding for its intended purpose—assisting our nation’s hardest hit small businesses, not America’s most tragic abortion provider," Luetkemeyer told the Free Beacon. "The SBA must immediately investigate Planned Parenthood’s blatant violation of the rules to ensure guidelines are followed and American taxpayer dollars are protected."
The letter comes as President Joe Biden's Department of Health and Human Services threw open the door for taxpayer-funded abortion. The department unveiled new rules concerning Title X family planning funding that reversed Trump administration policies limiting taxpayer funding for abortion providers. Donalds said taxpayer dollars should not be used to subsidize abortion providers.
"Planned Parenthood—the nation's most notorious abortion provider that has an estimated $2 billion in assets and over 16,000 employees—receiving taxpayer dollars through the Paycheck Protection Program is extremely concerning," he said.
Planned Parenthood defended the loans and accused congressional Republicans of focusing on "baseless political attacks" and targeting centers that "provide essential health care."
"Like many other local nonprofits and health care providers, the independent Planned Parenthood 501(c)(3) organizations who were awarded PPP loans met the eligibility requirements established by both Congress and the Small Business Administration," said Jacqueline Ayers, vice president of government relations and public policy for Planned Parenthood for America.
The Trump administration made changes to the Title X family planning program designed to limit the amount of taxpayer funding for abortion providers. Planned Parenthood withdrew from the program rather than comply with limitations on abortion referrals, forgoing approximately $60 million in annual federal funding.
The HHS rules are expected to take months to implement but will effectively return Title X funding policy to its pre-Trump status. Senate Republicans ripped Biden for allowing the abortion industry to profit from his presidency.
"President Biden took millions from the abortion industry during his campaign," Sen. Steve Daines (R., Mont.) said. "Now, Planned Parenthood is cashing in."

As the Table explains, “* Data from 31 reporting areas; excludes 21 reporting areas (California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York City, New York State, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, and Wyoming) that did not report, did not report by race/ethnicity, or did not meet reporting standards.”
Nonetheless, the data show that from the 31 reporting areas, 117,626 of the surgical abortions in 2018 were of black children, which equals 33.6% of the total abortions.
For white children, 135,328 were killed by abortion (38.7% of total); Hispanics, 70,195 (20% of total); and Other, 26,975 abortions (7.7% of total).
In other words, it’s a virtual certainty that more than 117,626 Black children were aborted, although it’s uncertain if they continued to represent a disproportionate number of total abortions. Nevertheless, it’s numbers such as these, combined with seeing my children’s ultrasounds, that turned me from being pro-Choice (I was raised a Democrat in the San Francisco Bay Area) to pro-Life. The Democrats’ relentless obsession with abortion has turned the Democrat party into a death cult and I want no part of it.
While Democrats once spoke about making abortion “safe, rare, and legal,” in the past two decades they’ve elevated abortion to a sort of Holy Grail status within the party. For most of the Democrat women I’ve known, abortion is the one issue on which they have no flexibility. They’re blind to the hypocrisy of weeping over illegal alien children in Trump’s cages (Biden’s cages don’t trouble them) while encouraging the annual death of hundreds of thousands of human lives.
Although the CDC information was released in November, CNS News only reported it now, which is why I’m getting to it now. Still, I think the timing is actually excellent. With the Derek Chauvin trial wrapping up in Minneapolis, BLM is again gearing up to use Black deaths as the cudgel by which they’ll beat American Blacks into a riotous, often murderous, frenzy that leftists hope will finally, once and for all, bring our country to its knees.

3. Waters calls for public harassment of White House officials
In 2018, Waters suggested people should be harassing and protesting then-president Donald Trump’s Cabinet officials at stores, restaurants, and gas stations.
“I have no sympathy for these people that are in this administration who know it’s wrong for what they’re doing on so many fronts. They tend to not want to confront this president or even leave, but they know what they’re doing is wrong,” Waters said.
“I want to tell you, these members of his cabinet who remain and try to defend him, they won’t be able to go to a restaurant, they won’t be able to stop at a gas station, they’re not going to be able to shop at a department store,” she continued.
“The people are going to turn on them. They’re going to protest. They’re going to absolutely harass them until they decide that they’re going to tell the president, ‘No, I can’t hang with you.’ This is wrong. This is unconscionable. We can’t keep doing this to children,” she concluded.
4. Waters claims God sent her to stop Donald Trump
Later that same year, Waters addressed the First African Methodist Episcopal Church in Los Angeles, claiming she was sent to Washington by God to obstruct Trump.
“You’ve gotta know that I’m here to do the work that I was sent to do, and as pastor said to me when I came in this morning, when God sends you to do something, you just do it!” she said.
“So I have a message: I’m going back to Washington tomorrow morning, I’m going to tell them pastor told me to come here and just do it!” she proclaimed.
“I’m not about to sit quietly and allow the President of the United States, or anybody else, to undo all that has been done to make this a great country,” she concluded.
5. Waters gets pranked by Russian trolls posing as Greta Thunberg
Waters presumably spoke with two Russians impersonating Greta Thunberg and her father after her staff believed they have connected with the Swedish climate change activist, Breitbart News’ Kristina Wong reported.
A woman who identifies herself as Congresswoman Waters tells “Greta”: “Of course, I know all about you. You have made quite a big, big, big thunder on this issue. I am really, really very proud of you and the work that you’re doing.”
The prank callers trick Waters into making a statement in defense of the environment of an imaginary island named “Chunga Changa.”
The call gets more farcical when “Greta” tells Waters that she met Trump at the United Nations, where he privately insulted her and confessed to threatening Ukraine’s president.
“He came over, he leaned towards me, and said softly, ‘Listen to me very carefully, little girl, you will never achieve your goals,’” “Greta” says.
“He said you will never achieve your goals? Oh my goodness!” Waters exclaims, stunned. “Greta” then says that she cried. “Oh my God did you cry?” Waters exclaims.

The arrival of Joe Biden’s decision on a running mate is a true turning point in the history of American politics.
There has never before been a presidential candidate who, prior to entering the White House, has shown such undeniable signs of age-related neurological decay. All political disagreements disregarded, the sight of an elderly person succumbing to the demons of those dreaded cognitive ailments -- which all too often rob us of the older people we love -- is truly excruciating to behold.
The political outcome of Biden's mental state is, if possible, even more unsettling. The role of the president is meant to be powerful. All constitutional checks and balances considered, the sheer power of the chief executive, in that one single person invested with authority to counter-balance the power of the legislative and judicial branches, is truly awesome.
In our situation today, we see a man who is clearly not in full command of his mental faculties, who is allowing himself to be considered for that office of chief executive; an office which, unlike a prime minister in a parliamentary system, is intended to be stable and not prone to regular changes in leadership.
The expectation of a normal four-year presidential tenure on Biden’s part if he is elected must, at the very least, be subjected to serious doubt. If pronouncing basic words -- let alone quoting the most famous phrase of our Declaration of Independence -- is such a confusing ordeal for him, then it is our urgent duty to question whether this individual is fit to be the man who must accept the ultimate responsibility for this country’s national security and well-being.
These facts squarely cast the Democrat side of the current election as not a presidential election at all, but a vice-presidential election.
Should Biden win, the chances are very probable that his vice president will become the 47th president to finish out his first four-year term. As the vice president automatically succeeds to the Oval Office if the president dies or is rendered permanently incapacitated, the profoundly anti-democratic repercussions of this situation is worsened by whom Biden has actually chosen.
The traditional custom for presidential hopefuls is to either choose the second-highest-polling candidate in a primary race, as Ronald Reagan did with George H. W. Bush in 1980, or to choose a highly capable politician who is well-respected by most of the party, as Donald Trump did with Governor Mike Pence in 2016. In both of those cases, the aforementioned running mates reflected the Republican Party and its voters quite respectably while promoting unity.
It is highly questionable, meanwhile, whether Kamala Harris -- aside from all of the establishment media’s expected giddy cheerleading -- really represents her party all that well. She was polling at 2% nationally by the time she ended her own presidential bid on December 3, 2019. Her more radical positions, such as support for the Obama administration’s Iran deal, prosecuting a journalist who exposed Planned Parenthood’s collection and sale of aborted babies’ body parts (while receiving campaign donations from them), and defending Ilhan Omar’s anti-Semitism, may indeed sit well with a great many leftists, but her actions as Attorney General of California may not. While in that position, Harris jailed hundreds on marijuana charges and authorized anti-prostitution sting operations which, according to SF Weekly, disproportionately targeted Latino men (a crucial Democrat demographic). In addition to this -- though she later admitted it was a mistake -- she prosecuted and jailed the parents of truant teens. She even refused to release the names of Catholic priests accused of sexually molesting children, abnegating law enforcement’s most basic and humane duty -- regardless of anyone’s opinion of the Catholic Church.
it is highly debatable if these are positions that a high number of progressives who voted for the Democrat primary runner-up, Bernie Sanders, would approve of. Especially today, being tough on minority and drug crime -- to the exclusion of “white patriarchal” clergy sex abuse -- is not en vogue among the Democratic Party’s truly energized base, which is largely college-educated millennials taught to have contempt for not only aggressive inner city policing, but inner city policing overall.
It also remains a question as to how many black American voters Kamala really represents. Without doubt, she completely failed to gain these voters' support during the primary. Many black Americans responded to Barack and Michelle Obama due to their image as people who empathized authentically with the black experience of living in inner city America. Harris’s flip-flopping on criminal justice issues has clearly deprived her of the Obama touch.
What should highly concern all Americans of whatever political persuasion is the fact that, given Joe Biden’s medical condition, a Democrat victory in 2020 could very likely result in a person for whom only 2% of Democrats and Democrat-leaning Independents supported to become president.
The reasons for Biden’s choice of Kamala Harris as his running mate are as yet not entirely clear. What is very clear, however, is that a new president of the United States in the near future could be a person whom a weak and faltering man chose by fiat, and not someone whom the majority of the country elected by the ballot.
That's a problem.
It's a problem for America -- and it's a serious and profound problem for American democracy.
