FUKED! - THE ONCE GOLDEN STATE OF CA IN MELTDOWN UNDER THE DEMOCRAT PARTY'S CONTROL - Gavin Newsom Signs Law Making California a Sanctuary for Child Transgender Surgery

Without the middle class, California is a vastly wealthy and endlessly poor Third World state, blessed with great landscapes and no one to fill them with except gang members, day laborers, welfare recipients and assorted immigrants who will move on just like the Americans have.

The State of Dreams

Every utopia is a dystopia. Especially California.

It’s a cool dark night in California and all the lights are out. Sloping rooftops dotted with solar panels gleam even more darkly than usual. The air is still and not a single breeze stirs even the lightest wind turbine. Somewhere out in the darkness Diablo Canyon, the aging nuclear plant, still running, is keeping what power there is on. The Northern Chumash or as the media insists on calling them, the Yak Titu Titu Yak Tiłhini, are demanding the territory which would make them California’s second nuclear power.  They might prove to be better guardians of keeping the state’s power on than the Democrats. The white liberal man has had his chance.

The great westward drive that began with Lewis and Clark has been steadily rolling backward. Southern California is filled with moving trucks headed to Arizona, Texas and Nevada. Those who can afford it, fly to Florida. The Russians were here once and then the Spanish. The American presence in California was more comprehensive and lasted longer, but may one day leave sagging Wells Fargo banks and decrepit mini malls filled with sushi places and nail salons the way the Spanish left their names and their missions up Highway 101.

It’s a beautiful country, but so is Afghanistan and any number of otherwise unlivable places. Every other visit to a store seems to end with a shoplifter boldly walking out with a few items in hand. Sometimes a cashier, usually young and male, shouts futilely, “Hey, sir” into the wind. A few older women, cashiers and customers, mutter about how it’s hurting everyone. A manager says this is the new normal. No one connects it to the coming elections. The media tells them that the madness is a social phenomenon, a response to inequality, the pandemic, and climate change, and they never bother to argue. Just go on and vote for Karen Bass and Newsom.

While the police are nowhere, security personnel in tactical vests carrying far more firepower than they could possibly need are everywhere. Many of them are current or former police who found that private security pays better. Others may be immigrants who barely speak English. Like most Third World countries from Mexico to Iraq, California has a rising private military that watches over everything from grocery stores to houses of worship. Liberals complained about the militarization of the LAPD, but this is the militarization of everything.

We think of Third World countries as poor, but they’re not. Visit Karachi, Cairo and Jakarta, or even Baghdad, Gaza, or even Kabul, and you’ll see great riches and even greater poverty. The problem with income inequality isn’t that CEOs make two million times more than their employees do, it’s that there’s nothing in the middle. The middle class makes a society sane and livable. It gives people something to reach for rather than beating their wives or knifing their neighbors in the dark. The bourgeois is civilization. Without the middle class, there’s barbarism, a crude hierarchy and the rule of force.

California, always in the cultural vanguard, is losing its middle class faster than the rest of the country. The middle class made the state’s cities sprawl into vast stretches of spaghetti freeways, lots of surprisingly affordable houses whose garages spawned the technological revolution that changed the world, world class universities whose engineers went to work for the state’s defense industries, and beyond them the orange groves and horse ranches, and the hills just made for hiking and riding.

Without the middle class, California is a vastly wealthy and endlessly poor Third World state, blessed with great landscapes and no one to fill them with except gang members, day laborers, welfare recipients and assorted immigrants who will move on just like the Americans have. Inflation and recession are only accelerating the inevitable migration. Third World migrants are coming northward and American migrants are going east. “Go west, young man,” Horace Greeley’s advice, no longer seems so sound anymore. And no one except aspiring starlets and engineers dorming eight to a room in hopes of hitting the startup or stardom lottery are taking it.

California was as far westward as most Americans seemed likely to go. Now Americans are moving eastward to a new manifest destiny of decline. The migrations of the last century that reshaped the country are being reversed. People are leaving the cities. Black people are retracing their migration from the South to the Northeast. Americans are leaving California to immigrants from Asia and Latin America. The nation’s history is coming unwound, running in reverse like an old film reel, which leaves us perilously close to replaying the Civil War.

There is something about the state that invites big musings and bigger dreams. But there’s little to dream about anymore. The defense industries are moribund, the orchards are starved of water, the entertainment industry is just another side venture of the tech industry, and the tech industry is beginning to flee the mess it helped create. And you can’t just run an entire state on being a place where rich people can enjoy seaside views if they can stomach the crime, the taxes, and the madness. Southern Europe is already full of places like that. And Greece, Spain and Portugal don’t have a booming future.

The trouble with California, like New York City, is its grandiosity. Building skyscrapers and rolling back the desert gave people the sense that anything was possible. But the horizontal and vertical towers of babel were only receptacles for civilization, not civilization itself. Men and women came to big cities and big lands to reinvent themselves and went mad instead.

“One sometimes gets the impression that the mere words ‘Socialism’ and ‘Communism’ draw towards them with magnetic force every fruit-juice drinker, nudist, sandal-wearer, sex-maniac, Quaker, ‘Nature Cure’ quack, pacifist, and feminist in England,” George Orwell complained in The Road to Wigan Pier.

California, like most major cities, is run by those people now. But it is in the tarnished state that they let their wildest and maddest dreams roam. California, for Jerry Brown, would be a spaceship. It’s a spaceship now in a decaying orbit with a crew quarreling over how to distribute legal marijuana franchises to achieve equity between racial groups, union members, ex-cons, transgenders and the politically connected. Not that it matters because everyone is still buying the old-fashioned illegal pot.

Orwell could hardly have imagined this dystopia. It’s more Aldous Huxley, an Oxford graduate who died in Los Angeles of an LSD overdose on the day of JFK’s assassination. Huxley narrowly missed seeing the brave new world that was coming. The decadent intellectuals drugged out of their minds and the savages roaming beyond did not take long to show up in California. And the rest is history and current events.

“We will get our energy from the sun,” they declare. “Houses for the unhoused,” they clamor. “Money is just an idea,” they insist. “Crime is a social construct invented by white supremacy.”

What happens when people lose their sense of meaning and purpose? They sit on the beach, look out into the ocean, blind themselves with gorgeous sunsets and go out of their minds. Sanity is a function of responsibility. We are only as sane as the tasks we set ourselves. Sanity means getting up in the morning and knowing what you have to do and why you have to do it. It’s also reality, maturity and adulthood.

If people in their thirties and forties act like teenagers did a generation ago, it’s because they live like teenagers. And in tent cities strung along under overpasses, there are people in their fifties and sixties, strung out, staring madly, who never grew up. The smelly unshaven Peter Pans will never grow up. They will shoot up, get high, get stoned, get drunk, catch diseases, kill each other and die. And as a compassionate society, we will spend billions of dollars enabling them to destroy themselves. Then we’ll get all our power from the sun and change our genders.

There have always been two Californias. The state of working people, farmers and builders, engineers and truck drivers and the other California.

“My own belief is that California has a unique place on the planet. It’s been a place of dreams. We can pursue a path of benign energy,” Governor Jerry Brown once said.

People aren’t meant to live in dreams. After a while they turn into nightmares.

In the darkness, an electric car emitting a spaceship sound whooshes past. Somewhere in the night a crazy laugh rings on and on. A billboard advertises app-based marijuana deliveries. A naked man is holding a giant pot leaf in front of his crotch. The crazy laughs breaks off into sobbing and cursing. A free magazine lying draped over a dying bird of paradise bush advertises a drag queen act.

We live in the land of dreams. Mad, idiotic dreams. And those dreams are killing us.

The postmodern soma of the lotus eaters isn’t just something you snort or shoot up, it’s in the culture. Utopia is in the air, the water and the cloud. And like all utopias, it’s a dystopia.

A delusional nightmare that people are fleeing the way that they did from the Soviet Union.

Delusions, like all viruses, kill the host. The Left and its culture wars are a grand delusion. Unlike class warfare, which for all its evil and folly was rooted in real issues and in human nature, the postmodern culture wars are the deconstructionist fantasies of perpetual revolutionaries who live in imaginary utopias. After repeatedly failing to realize a classless society, their new utopia will also get rid of gender, technology, the family and borders.

That is not the work of people living in the real world.

But for now, the power is occasionally on, there’s sometimes food in the stores, and the system hasn’t collapsed yet. Reality is harsh, but the 72 degree weather keeps it at bay.

There’s still time for one more walk, one more breath and one more sunset. And tomorrow? Just follow the moving trucks and the great migration from the land of dreams back to the real world.

Gavin Newsom Signs Law Making California a Sanctuary for Child Transgender Surgery

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) signed a bill Thursday making California a sanctuary state for children to obtain “gender-affirming” surgery or drugs

The bill, SB 107, was sponsored by Sen. Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco), who also sponsored a law in 2020 that reduced penalties for adults who had oral or anal sex with a willing minor child within ten years of their age by removing a requirement that they register as sex offenders, leaving that to judges’ discretion. The law ostensibly addressed discrimination against LGBTQ people.

Scott Wiener, D-San Francisco, discusses his proposed measure to provide legal refuge to displaced transgender youth and their families during a news conference in Sacramento, Calif., March 17, 2022. SB 107 “would prohibit a provider of health care, a health care service plan, or a contractor from releasing medical information related to a person or entity allowing a child to receive gender-affirming health care or gender-affirming mental health care in response to a criminal or civil action” from another state that bans transgender surgery or drugs for minor children under 18. It would also prohibit California police from enforcing arrest warrants for transgender treatments for minors that are illegal in their own states.

The bill would also “prohibit the enforcement of an order based on another state’s law authorizing a child to be removed from their parent or guardian based on that parent or guardian allowing their child to receive gender-affirming health care” in California.

In a signing statement, Newsom described SB 107 as a bill about “parental choice.” However, there is nothing in the bill that requires that the “gender-affirming health care” be performed with parental consent. It also does not specify a minimum age at which a child qualifies for surgery or pharmaceuticals that would cause potentially irreversible physical changes to genitals or other organs.

The Los Angeles Times noted: “Whether SB 107 itself will be upheld in court is also in question because of federal requirements that states must recognize out-of-state laws when residents travel.” It also quoted State Sen. Brian Dahle (R-Bieber), who pointed out that California would be in a difficult position if one parent supported a child’s transgender surgery and the other parent opposed it.

Jean-Pierre: Biden Is 'A Partner' and 'Strong Ally' of Transgender Youth

(CNSNews.com) - On a day when some Virginia high school students walked out of class to protest Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin's new transgender policy, the Biden White House assured Americans that Biden is "a partner and he is a strong ally" of transgender youth.

First of all, Youngkin's model policy for Virginia public schools simply puts parents in the loop: Parents must instruct the school system in writing if their child is to be called by a different name or pronoun. Teachers may not "conceal material information about a student from the student’s parent, including information related to gender."

And the model policy says transgender students must be "treated with respect, compassion, and dignity in the classroom and school environment."

At Tuesday's White House briefing, a reporter asked spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre if the White House "supports" the students who walked out of class to protest the new policy:

"So, I haven’t seen those reports," Jean-Pierre said:

"But you know this is a President that supports the LGBTQI+ community and has been supporting that community for some time now -- as a Vice President, as senator, and certainly as President now. And he speaks always — always is proud to speak out against the mistreatment of that community.

"Trans-- we believe and he believes transgender youth should be allowed to be — to be able to go to school freely, to be able to express themselves freely, to be able to have the protections that they need to be who they are.

"Again, I have not seen these reports, but I can — we can say with all confidence — and you all know and have covered him for some time — when it comes to this community, he is a partner and he is a strong ally, as well as the Vice President (is)."

WTOP radio, the news station serving the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, sent reporter Neal Augenstein to cover the student transgender protest at Loudoun High School in Leesburg, Virginia.

Augenstein interviewed a student named Felicity whose pronouns are "they/them."

Felicity said transgender students may be safer without their parents knowing about their change of gender:

"Many students have supporting parents, and they can go home to supportive homes, but there’s also students where school is their safe place. And, if we take that away from them, by taking away their privacy, that can really harm them,” said Felicity.

Asked if there might be a middle ground between the current policies and Youngkin’s new proposals, Felicity said, “There probably could be.”

“We need to be able to keep that privacy, because then people can figure themselves out, and when they feel safe, they can go and talk to their parents,” Felicity said. "It’s really important that we have that freedom, and yes, there could probably be some sort of middle area, but we don’t quite know what that would be yet."

The Federation for American Immigration Reform estimates that California spends $22 billion (DATED - NOW NEARLY $50 BILION) on government services for illegal aliens, including welfare, education, Medicaid, and criminal justice system costs.  STEVEN BALDWIN

Heather Mac Donald of the Manhattan Institute has testified before a Congressional committee that in 2004, 95% of all outstanding warrants for murder in Los Angeles were for illegal aliens; in 2000, 23% of all Los Angeles County jail inmates were illegal aliens and that in 1995, 60% of Los Angeles’s largest street gang, the 18th Street gang, were illegal aliens.

Gavin Newsom Caves to Unions and Pelosi, Signs Vote-by-Mail for Farmworker Unions

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) yielded to demands by unions, President Joe Biden, and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and signed a law allowing farmworker unions to conduct elections via vote-by-mail, after vetoing a similar bill last year over concerns about integrity.

Last year, Breitbart News reported, Newsom rejected the proposal:

The bill, AB 616, would have allowed farm workers to use the same mechanism that Democrats have championed in recent elections, including Newsom’s own recall election last week. Democrats have also characterized Republican efforts to rein in the practice as “racist,” brushing aside concerns about potential fraud.

Newsom’s veto marks the second time this year “progressives” have resisted vote-by-mail when it comes to their own interests; Amazon did so in a union vote in January.

In response to Newsom’s veto, the UFW [United Farm Workers] has announced that it will march to the French Laundry, the elite establishment where the governor dined, maskless, with lobbyist friends last November after issuing guidelines to discourage other Californians from eating in restaurants. The incident motivated efforts to recall Newsom — which the UFW opposed.

This year, the unions tried again with Assembly Bill 2183. Newsom vetoed it again, saying it needed revisions. President Biden publicly backed the bill, as did Vice President Kamala Harris, infuriating Newsom, who owns a winery that includes vineyards in Napa County. Breitbart News reported:

Newsom’s office is on record saying they “cannot support an untested mail-in election process that lacks critical provisions to protect the integrity of the election, and is predicated on an assumption that government cannot effectively enforce laws.”

Newsom is “privately seething” over Biden’s endorsement of the bill, multiple people with knowledge of Newsom’s thinking told Politico.

Finally, Newsom signed the bill on Wednesday, in a ceremony attended by farmworker union leaders and Democratic politicians. The Los Angeles Times noted: “The new law expands voting options for farmworkers by allowing them to vote by mail or drop off a ballot card at the state Agricultural Labor Relations Board. Farmworkers can also receive assistance filling out their ballots. Previously, secret ballot elections were held at a polling place designated by the board.”

In a statement, Newsom’s office touted a “supplemental agreement” he had reached with the unions, ostensibly to protect ballot integrity:

The supplemental agreement between the Newsom Administration, UFW, and the California Labor Federation includes a cap on the number of card-check petitions over the next five years, and will allow the ALRB to adequately protect worker confidentiality and safety. This additional agreement would be codified into law with a bill next year that would be supported by both the administration and the union. The agreement will be codified with additional legislation next year backed by the union and the administration.

Newsom is thought to be positioning himself for a presidential run in 2024 in the event that Biden decides not to seek reelection.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) is again under fire from members of his own party, this time President Joe Biden, over his hesitancy to sign a bill that would encourage California farmworkers to unionize.

California Assembly Bill 2183 would make it easier for farmworkers to unionize and allow them to vote by mail in union elections. Biden is just the latest Democrat politician putting pressure on Newsom to sign the bill.

Biden said he “strongly” supports the farmworker bill in a brief statement issued just before Labor Day.

“In the state with the largest population of farmworkers, the least we owe them is an easier path to make a free and fair choice to organize a union,” Biden said.

“Government should work to remove – not erect – barriers to workers organizing,” the president added.

However, Newsom vetoed a similar bill last year, and farmworker activists fear AB 2183 will suffer the same fate after Newsom sent the bill back to the California legislature less than two weeks ago.

Newsom’s office is on record saying they “cannot support an untested mail-in election process that lacks critical provisions to protect the integrity of the election, and is predicated on an assumption that government cannot effectively enforce laws.”

The California legislature sent a revised version of the bill to Newsom’s desk for his signature, but it is uncertain whether he will veto it.

Newsom is “privately seething” over Biden’s endorsement of the bill, multiple people with knowledge of Newsom’s thinking told Politico.

Biden’s endorsement of AB 2183 came after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) publicly urged Newsom to sign the bill.

“CA farmworkers provide for our families — but far too many can’t provide for theirs because they are exploited and don’t have a voice on the job,” Pelosi tweeted. “We can mend this injustice by expanding workers’ rights. I urge the governor to sign #AB2183 for the farmworkers and For The Children.”

Vice President Kamala Harris added pressure on Newsom, saying it is “long past due” for California to enact this legislation.

Of California’s 800,000 farmworkers, less than one percent are unionized, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Further, more than 70 percent of California’s farmworkers are undocumented immigrants.

Although large unions like the United Farm Workers want Newsom to sign the legislation, farmers and business groups, including the California Chamber of Commerce, are opposed to the bill.

“It essentially amounts to a forced union submission, because even the mail-in voting provision allows the labor organization representative to fill out the ballot,” Western Growers vice president of state government affairs Matthew Allen told Politico. “It’s really quite simple what the bill is doing. It’s eliminating a farmworker’s right to the secret-ballot election.”

Gavin Newsom Signs Law to Expand State ID for Illegal Aliens

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) signed a law Friday that expands the ability of illegal aliens to obtain state identification — and tightens restrictions on state cooperation with federal immigration authorities to bar even health and safety exceptions.

Under Newsom’s predecessor, Gov. Jerry Brown, the state began issuing driver’s licenses to “undocumented” residents. The move was advertised as a way to improve road safety and automobile insurance for a significant population of drivers.

The new bill, AB 1766, directs the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to “by no later than July 1, 2027, issue a restricted identification card to an eligible applicant who is unable to submit satisfactory proof that their presence in the United States is authorized under federal law if they provide satisfactory proof of identity and California residency, as specified.”

Gov. Newsom said in a statement: “California is expanding opportunity for everyone, regardless of immigration status. … We’re a state of refuge – a majority-minority state, where 27 percent of us are immigrants. That’s why I’m proud to announce the signing of today’s bills to further support our immigrant community, which makes our state stronger every single day.”

The DMV has become a flashpoint for controversy due to “Motor Voter” laws that also allow automatic voter registration when driver’s licenses are obtained. The department has, in the past, registered thousands of voters improperly.

In addition, AB 1766 specifies that health and safety concerns are no longer exceptions that would allow state authorities to provide “noncriminal” information to federal immigration authorities. That means criminals who are illegally in the country might not be reported; it also means that despite California’s aggressive lockdown policies in the coronavirus pandemic, the state may not be allowed to provide information about illegal aliens to the federal government in future public health crises.

Sen. Cruz: Democrats ‘Believe’ Voter Fraud ‘Helps Elect More Democrats,’ ‘The More Fraud the Better’

(CNS News) -- While criticizing the proposed Corrupt Politicians Act, Senator Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) argued that Democrats “have made a cynical decision to embrace voter fraud” because they “believe it will help them win.” Thus, for them, “the more fraud the better,” he said.

“Voter fraud is a real problem for our elections -- this wasn’t always a controversial statement,” said Cruz at a Sept. 27 business meeting of the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration. “Unfortunately, today’s Democrats have made a cynical decision to embrace voter fraud.”

“Democrats believe it will help them win, the more fraud the better,” he said.

During the meeting, Cruz acknowledged that “voter fraud has been a persistent challenge in our elections from the dawn of time.”

“Democrats used to acknowledge that,” he said.  “That didn’t used to be a controversial statement until suddenly the 2020 election, when Democrats began clutching their pearls and insisting there is no voter fraud, it never has happened, and anyone who says it does happen, is wearing a tinfoil hat and is a moon-bat conspiracy theorist,” continued Cruz.

According to the Texas senator, “You can see in the Democrats’ effort to pass the Corrupt Politicians Act, S1, that the Democrat Party today has made a decision that voter fraud is affirmatively in its political interest.”

Cruz went on to address what he sees as the many shortcomings of the Corrupt Politicians Act.

“The Corrupt Politicians Act would strike down every photo ID law in the country despite the fact that overwhelming super majorities of Americans support photo ID for voting,” said Cruz.  “The Corrupt Politicians Act would strike down laws in states across this country prohibiting ballot harvesting even though former Democrat President Jimmy Carter told us that ballot harvesting is one of the greatest avenues for voter fraud you can have.”

“The Corrupt Politicians Act would register millions of felons to vote and would register millions of illegal aliens to vote,” he added.

“And yet, unfortunately, today’s Democrats have made, I think, a very cynical political decision that voter fraud, they believe, helps elect more Democrats, and so the more fraud the better,” said Cruz.

The “For the People Act,” (H.R. 1 / S. 1),” dubbed the Corrupt Politicians Act by its opponents, “was originally introduced in 2019 and was re-introduced to the 117th Congress by Democrats. It passed the House on March 3, 2021. It received full support from Senate Democrats, although the bill did not garner the 60 votes needed to surpass a filibuster.

According to the Committee on House Administration, H.R. 1 “is a sweeping package of pro-democracy and anticorruption reforms to put power back in the hands of the American people by ending the dominance of big money in politics; making it easier, not harder to vote; and ensuring that politicians actually serve the public interest.”

The most notable aspects of the bill include using taxpayer funds to match campaign donations 6 to 1, canceling any state-level voter ID requirements, allowing the federal government to take over the oversight of elections, and allowing anyone to vote by mail without an ID or witness signature.

Critics label the legislation the Corrupt Politicians Act because, they contend, its campaign finance rules would require taxpayers to fund the work and campaigns of career politicians and not strengthen election integrity.

When California Elects a Right-Wing Unconstitutional Governor

Imagine the conservative counterpart to Newsom - and the bills he could sign.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who faces no real opposition for reelection in November, is on a rampage.

The most recent unconstitutional legislation he signed includes an anti-First Amendment law requiring social media platforms “to publicly post their policies regarding hate speech, disinformation, harassment and extremism on their platforms,” according to The Hill.

Newsom issued a statement: “California will not stand by as social media is weaponized to spread hate and disinformation that threaten our communities and foundational values as a country. Californians deserve to know how these platforms are impacting our public discourse.”

Would this “hate and disinformation” pertain to Democrats like former Vice President Al Gore, Hillary Clinton, Stacey Abrams, former President Jimmy Carter and Jan. 6 Committee Chairman Rep. Bennie Thompson, all of whom have questioned the legitimacy of elections? Lost by Democrats?

Newsom also signed anti-14th Amendment legislation that mandates publicly held companies headquartered in California include at least one member from “an underrepresented community,” defined as “an individual who self-identifies as black, African American, Hispanic, Latino, Asian, Pacific Islander, Native American, Native Hawaiian, or Alaska Native, or who self-identifies as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender.”

Someday California may elect an equally unconstitutional conservative governor presiding over an unconstitutional conservative legislature. Consider the bills that such a governor could sign:

To address concerns about “weaponized” social media, Twitter accounts, Facebook and Instagram must be 50% conservative.

A 2006 study published in Econ Journal Watch found that liberal college professors outnumber conservative professors 12 to one, with liberal history professors outnumbering conservative professors 33.5 to 1. Another study found that virtually all the political donations made by California professors go to Democrats and left-wing groups. At UCLA, the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Southern California, half of the professors’ contributions in 2019-2020 went to five left-wing organizations: ActBlue, Biden for President, Biden Victory Fund, the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. And of the 2022 commencement speakers at the nation’s top 100 universities, according to a study by the Young Americans for Freedom, only three were conservative.

So, how about a bill mandating that colleges hire liberal and conservative professors in an equal amount; a law mandating that professors split their donations evenly between left-wing political organizations and politicians and conservative political organizations and politicians; and that college commencement speakers be divided equally between liberals and conservatives? Also, 50% of public-school teachers, K-12, must be conservative.

A report from The Federalist found that Democratic White House press corps reporters outnumbered Republican reporters 12 to 1. The then-New York Times executive editor Dean Baquet admitted, “I think the Left, we don’t — I’m not ‘we,’ I’m a journalist — but the Left as a rule does not want to hear thoughtful disagreement.” And the Los Angeles Times last endorsed a Republican for president 50 years ago.

So, let’s have a bill mandating that California newspapers hire an equal number of conservative reporters, require an equal number of conservative and liberal members of their editorial boards and alternate between endorsing a Republican and a Democrat for president.

Let’s turn to Hollywood. Movies frequently feature conservatives and greedy capitalists as villains. So, we need a “good guy/bad guy law” that mandates Hollywood heroes and villains be equally divided between liberal and conservative, and equally divided between capitalist villains and Marxist/collectivist/socialist bad guys. Villains may be no more than 50% conservative. And, of course, hero characters in Hollywood movies must be 50% conservative/Republican.

These are but a few ideas that await the coming of California’s right-wing governor and a conservative supermajority in the state legislature.

California Makes History: First State in U.S. Giving Food Stamps to Illegal Aliens

The sanctuary state of California will make history by becoming the first state in the nation to give food stamps to illegal aliens.

This week, Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) announced a budget deal with Democrat state legislators that includes providing food stamps, paid for by California’s taxpayers, to illegal aliens 55 and older — the first initiative of its kind in the United States.

An executive with the group Nourish California told the Fresno Bee that the policy is historic for the state, saying, “California is once again making history by removing xenophobic exclusions to our state’s safety net.”

Expansion of the state’s CalFresh food stamps program will cost California’s taxpayers more than $35 million and about 75,000 illegal aliens are expected to enroll every year.

The move comes as Newsom’s budget deal will also ensure that California is the first state in the nation to provide taxpayer-funded health insurance to all of its 3.3 million illegal aliens.

Offering taxpayer-funded health insurance to its entire illegal alien population, the largest in the nation, is expected to cost California’s taxpayers about $2.4 billion annually. The plan is scheduled to begin in 2024.

Liberal California Emigrants are Toxic

By R. Quinn Kennedy

When Arizona, a state that has historically leaned conservative, was won by Joe Biden and now-senator Mark Kelly this week, very few were taken by surprise. Extensive polling indicated Arizona was ripe for swinging liberal and in this instance, at least, the polling was correct.

The question is why? Why has a state that held two elected Republican senators as recently as 2018 and which held a dependable stable of electoral votes for GOP presidential candidates become a purple state on its way to becoming solidly blue? Have Arizona residents suddenly awaked to the idea that liberal policies and doctrines are more sensible than conservative ones? Hardly.

The answer regarding Arizona’s swing lies in its neighbor to the west, California. Since 2012, California has overwhelmingly sent more transplants to Arizona than any other state. When surveyed, escaping Californians cite high taxes, high crime rates, unaffordable housing, out-of-control homelessness, and high unemployment rates as their top reasons for fleeing.

Who is responsible for creating such an alarming living environment within the state? California liberals. A November, 2020 report produced by the Mercatus Center at George Mason University stated that California has 395,608 regulatory restrictions. The sheer volume and scope of California regulations creates such a compliance nightmare that they kill entire industries, send housing prices to unattainable heights, and restrict even commonplace liberties for which conservative leaning states are known.

Piled onto California’s endless river of regulations are its nonsensical laws and policies. Twenty major metropolitan cities or counties in California have established laws, ordinances, regulations, or other practices that shield illegal immigrants from prosecution after committing a crime. These counties brazenly safeguard illegal immigrant criminals against deportation either through noncompliance or by refusing to hand them over to federal agencies such as ICE. With over $1.5 trillion in state and local government debt, California effectively has little money to spare for conveniences such as criminal incarceration. What do sanctuary cities and counties see as the alternative to handing illegal immigrant criminals over for deportation? Release them back into the general population, of course.

Consider this: Between 2014 and 2017, the FBI reported that 49 states saw an average increase in crime annually of around 3%. After implementing “humane” alternatives to criminal prosecution, California crime increased more than 12% per year over the same time period. With irrational sanctuary policies that send a clear message of little to no consequence for offenses, is it any wonder California’s crime rate is now spiraling out of control?

Arizona is not the only beneficiary of the California exodus. The Colorado State Demography Office has published an active flow map of people moving into the state from 2010 on. Disturbingly, the state sending the most movers to Colorado since then has consistently been California. As recently as 2004, Colorado had the political trifecta of a Republican governor and a Republican-controlled House and Senate. A short ten years later, all three had turned irrevocably Democrat. The subsequent consequence? A drastic increase in state and local regulations, a dramatic increase in violent crimes, a severe shortage of home inventory and affordable housing, and a staggering increase in homelessness. Do these newfound troubles sound familiar to any other state mentioned here? The only safeguard against out-of-control tax hikes in Colorado is the TABOR Amendment passed by voters 1992, prior to the influx of California residents, that requires taxpayer approval for any new tax. Not surprisingly, emboldened liberals in Colorado are vigorously resolute in repealing this tax hike protection. As of the most recent election they are unsuccessful, yet remain undeterred.

What has coincided with Colorado’s decline? The mass inflow of Californians to the state. Californians have brought with them all the very same liberal doctrines and ideologies that forced their flight from California in the first place. Does this dissuade liberal Californians from shaping Colorado into the very image of California? Not in the least.

If there is any hope for Arizona, it is that they might learn from the resulting ruin of Colorado, however unlikely.

In the 2020 election, Texas was startlingly considered in play for liberals. Since 2015, which state has contributed the most emigrants into Texas? Not surprisingly, the state of California. The hope for liberals is that they can turn Texas into the next purple soon-to-be blue state. The coveted prize is Texas’ electoral votes. Even more insidious, if liberals are able to capture Texas as they have done in Colorado and Arizona, they will force the state to join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. They will then achieve their ultimate goal of a Democrat president reigning over the United States for endless generations until the point our country experiences the same collapse as other great civilizations throughout world history.

The obvious question is this: How can Texas avoid the same fate as states such as Colorado and Arizona? Simple. By being proactive.

It is much easier for liberals to enact new legislation than to argue for the removal of existing laws. With this in mind, Texas should take advantage of their current Republican-controlled Senate, House, and governor’s office by making haste and passing laws that would limit the future incursion of liberal meddling. Texas can presently enact laws that prohibit sanctuary cities, require voter approval to remove the state’s mandated balanced budget, require that any new regulation must necessitate the removal of an existing one, and compel voter approval of each new local or state tax including non-user fees. While such laws may only serve to stem the liberal takeover of the state, they would be roadblocks making it much more difficult for ideological infiltration in areas that affect inhabitant’s liberties and quality of life.

It would be absurd to suppose Californians have malintent. Rather, they are simply following the course with which they are most familiar while being blissfully ignorant of the negative unintended consequences their political ideology brings. To suggest that any act of suppression, aggression, or intimidation towards Californians moving into red states is acceptable would simply be un-American and subject to the same type of hypocrisy liberals practice. If conservatives stoop to their level, we have lost the battle and, perhaps, the war.

However, by taking aggressive legislative action in states that have not yet succumbed to liberal infiltration, Conservatives will effectively be planting our flag in a defiant refusal to hand over our institutions and our liberty.

Study: More than 7-in-10 California Immigrant

Welfare

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2018/12/04/study-more-than-7-in-10-california-immigrant-households-are-on-welfare/

More than 7-in-10 households headed by immigrants in the state of California are on taxpayer-funded welfare, a new study reveals.

The latest Census Bureau data analyzed by the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) finds that about 72 percent of households headed by noncitizens and immigrants use one or more forms of taxpayer-funded welfare programs in California — the number one immigrant-receiving state in the U.S.

Meanwhile, only about 35 percent of households headed by native-born Americans use welfare in California.

All four states with the largest foreign-born populations, including California, have extremely high use of welfare by immigrant households. In Texas, for example, nearly 70 percent of households headed by immigrants use taxpayer-funded welfare. Meanwhile, only about 35 percent of native-born households in Texas are on welfare.

In New York and Florida, a majority of households headed by immigrants and noncitizens are on welfare. Overall, about 63 percent of immigrant households use welfare while only 35 percent of native-born households use welfare.

President Trump’s administration is looking to soon implement a policy that protects American taxpayers’ dollars from funding the mass importation of welfare-dependent foreign nationals by enforcing a “public charge” rule whereby legal immigrants would be less likely to secure a permanent residency in the U.S. if they have used any forms of welfare in the past, including using Obamacare, food stamps, and public housing.

The immigration controls would be a boon for American taxpayers in the form of an annual $57.4 billion tax cut — the amount taxpayers spend every year on paying for the welfare, crime, and schooling costs of the country’s mass importation of 1.5 million new, mostly low-skilled legal immigrants.

As Breitbart News reported, the majority of the more than 1.5 million foreign nationals entering the country every year use about 57 percent more food stamps than the average native-born American household. Overall, immigrant households consume 33 percent more cash welfare than American citizen households and 44 percent more in Medicaid dollars. This straining of public services by a booming 44 million foreign-born population translates to the average immigrant household costing American taxpayers $6,234 in federal welfare.

A DACA amnesty would put more citizen children of illegal aliens — known as “anchor babies” — on federal welfare, as Breitbart News reported, while American taxpayers would be left potentially with a $26 billion bill.

Additionally, about one-in-five DACA illegal aliens, after an amnesty, would end up on food stamps, while at least one-in-seven would go on Medicaid. JOHN BINDER

THE NEW PRIVILEGED CLASS: Illegals!

This is why you work From Jan - May paying taxes to the government ....with the rest of the calendar year is money for you and your family.

Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children. He takes a job for $5.00 or 6.00/hour. At that wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year, if he files an Income Tax Return, with his fake Social Security number, he gets an "earned income credit" of up to $3,200..... free.

He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent.

He qualifies for food stamps.

He qualifies for free (no deductible, no co-pay) health care.

His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school.

He requires bilingual teachers and books.

He qualifies for relief from high energy bills.

If they are or become, aged, blind or disabled, they qualify for SSI.

Once qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicare. All of this is at (our) taxpayer's expense.

He doesn't worry about car insurance, life insurance, or homeowners insurance.

Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins and printed material.

He and his family receive the equivalent of $20.00 to $30.00/hour in benefits.

Working Americans are lucky to have $5.00 or $6.00/hour left after Paying their bills and his.

The American taxpayers also pay for increased crime, graffiti and trash clean-up.

study by Tom Wong of the University of California at San Diego discovered that more than 25 percent of DACA-enrolled illegal aliens in the program have anchor babies. That totals about 200,000 anchor babies who are the children of DACA-enrolled illegal aliens. This does not include the anchor babies of DACA-qualified illegal aliens. JOHN BINDER

Exclusive–Steve Camarota: Every Illegal Alien Costs Americans $70K Over Their Lifetime

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/04/11/exclusive-steve-camarota-every-illegal-alien-costs-americans-70k-over-their-lifetime/

JOHN BINDER

Every illegal alien, over the course of their lifetime, costs American taxpayers about $70,000, Center for Immigration Studies Director of Research Steve Camarota says.

During an interview with SiriusXM Patriot’s Breitbart News Daily, Camarota said his research has revealed the enormous financial burden that illegal immigration has on America’s working and middle class taxpayers in terms of public services, depressed wages, and welfare.

“In a person’s lifetime, I’ve estimated that an illegal border crosser might cost taxpayers … maybe over $70,000 a year as a net cost,” Camarota said. “And that excludes the cost of their U.S.-born children, which gets pretty big when you add that in.”

LISTEN:

“Once [an illegal alien] has a child, they can receive cash welfare on behalf of their U.S.-born children,” Camarota explained. “Once they have a child, they can live in public housing. Once they have a child, they can receive food stamps on behalf of that child. That’s how that works.”

Camarota said the education levels of illegal aliens, border crossers, and legal immigrants are largely to blame for the high level of welfare usage by the f0reign-born population in the U.S., noting that new arrivals tend to compete for jobs against America’s poor and working class communities.

In past waves of mass immigration, Camarota said, the U.S. did not have an expansive welfare system. Today’s ever-growing welfare system, coupled with mass illegal and legal immigration levels, is “extremely problematic,” according to Camarota, for American taxpayers.

The RAISE Act — reintroduced in the Senate by Senators Tom Cotton (R-AR), David Perdue (R-GA), and Josh Hawley (R-MO) — would cut legal immigration levels in half and convert the immigration system to favor well-educated foreign nationals, thus relieving American workers and taxpayers of the nearly five-decade-long wave of booming immigration. Currently, mass legal immigration redistributes the wealth of working and middle class Americans to the country’s top earners.

“Virtually none of that existed in 1900 during the last great wave of immigration, when we also took in a number of poor people. We didn’t have a well-developed welfare state,” Camarota continued:

We’re not going to stop [the welfare state] tomorrow. So in that context, bringing in less educated people who are poor is extremely problematic for public coffers, for taxpayers in a way that it wasn’t in 1900 because the roads weren’t even paved between the cities in 1900. It’s just a totally different world. And that’s the point of the RAISE Act is to sort of bring in line immigration policy with the reality say of a large government … and a welfare state. [Emphasis added]

The immigrants are not all coming to get welfare and they don’t immediately sign up, but over time, an enormous fraction sign their children up. It’s likely the case that of the U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants, more than half are signed up for Medicaid — which is our most expensive program. [Emphasis added]

As Breitbart News has reported, U.S. households headed by foreign-born residents use nearly twice the welfare of households headed by native-born Americans.

Every year the U.S. admits more than 1.5 million foreign nationals, with the vast majority deriving from chain migration. In 2017, the foreign-born population reached a record high of 44.5 million. By 2023, the Center for Immigration Studies estimates that the legal and illegal immigrant population of the U.S. will make up nearly 15 percent of the entire U.S. population.

Another line they cut into: Illegals get free public housing as impoverished Americans wait

https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2019/04/another_line_they_cut_into_illegals_get_free_public_housing_as_impoverished_americans_wait.html

By Monica Showalter

Want some perspective on why so many blue sanctuary cities have so many homeless encampments hovering around?

Try the reality that illegal immigrants are routinely given free public housing by the U.S., based on the fact that they are uneducated, unskilled, and largely unemployable. Those are the criteria, and now importing poverty has never been easier. Shockingly, this comes as millions of poor Americans are out in the cold awaiting that housing that the original law was intended to help.

Thus, the tent cities, and by coincidence, the worst of these emerging shantytowns are in blue sanctuary cities loaded with illegal immigrants - Orange County, San Francisco, San Diego, Seattle, New York...Is there a connection? At a minimum, it's worth looking at.

The Trump administration's Department of Housing and Urban Development is finally trying to put a stop to it as 1.5 million illegals prepare to enter the U.S. this year, and one can only wonder why they didn't do it yesterday.

According to a report in the Washington Times:

The plan would scrap Clinton-era regulations that allowed illegal immigrants to sign up for assistance without having to disclose their status.

Under the new Trump rules, not only would the leaseholder using public housing have to be an eligible U.S. person, but the government would verify all applicants through the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) database, a federal system that’s used to weed illegal immigrants out of other welfare programs.

Those already getting HUD assistance would have to go through a new verification, though it would be over a period of time and wouldn’t all come at once.

“We’ve got our own people to house and need to take care of our citizens,” an administration official told The Washington Times. “Because of past loopholes in HUD guidance, illegal aliens were able to live in free public housing desperately needed by so many of our own citizens. As illegal aliens attempt to swarm our borders, we’re sending the message that you can’t live off of American welfare on the taxpayers’ dime.”

The Times notes that the rules are confusingly contradictary, and some illegal immigrant families are getting full rides based on just one member being born in the U.S. The pregnant caravaner who calculatingly slipped across the U.S. in San Diego late last year, only to have her baby the next day, now, along with her entire family, gets that free ride on government housing. Plus lots of cheesy news coverage about how heartwarming it all is. That's a lot cheaper than any housing she's going to find back in Tegucigalpa.

Migrants would be almost fools not to take the offering.

The problem of course is that Americans who paid into these programs, and the subset who find themselves in dire circumstances, are in fact being shut out.

The fill-the-pews Catholic archbishops may love to tout the virtues of illegal immigrants and wave signs about getting 'justice" for them, but the hard fact here is that these foreign nationals are stealing from others as they take this housing benefit under legal technicalities. That's not a good thing under anyone's theological law. But hypocrisy is comfortable ground for the entire open borders lobby as they shamelessly celebrate lawbreaking at the border, leaving the impoverished of the U.S. out cold.

The Trump administration is trying to have this outrage fixed by summer. But don't imagine it won't be without the open-borders lawsuits, the media sob stories, the leftist judges, and the scolding clerics.

Los Angeles County Pays Over a Billion in Welfare to Illegal Aliens Over Two Years

 BY MASOOMA HAQ

In 2015 and 2016, Los Angeles County paid nearly $1.3 billion in welfare funds to illegal aliens and their families. That figure amounts to 25 percent of the total spent on the county’s entire needy population, according to Fox News.

The state of California is home to more illegal aliens than any other state in the country. Approximately one in five illegal aliens lives in California, Pew reported.

Approximately a quarter of California’s 4 million illegal immigrants reside in Los Angeles County. The county allows illegal immigrant parents with children born in the United States to seek welfare and food stamp benefits.

The welfare benefits data acquired by Fox News comes from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services and shows welfare and food stamp costs for the county’s entire population were $3.1 billion in 2015, $2.9 billion in 2016.

The data also shows that during the first five months of 2017, more than 60,000 families received a total of $181 million.

Over 58,000 families received a total of $602 million in benefits in 2015 and more than 64,000 families received a total of $675 million in 2016.

Robert Rector, a Heritage Foundation senior fellow who studies poverty and illegal immigration, told Fox the costs represent “the tip of the iceberg.”

“They get $3 in benefits for every $1 they spend,” Rector said. It can cost the government a total of $24,000 per year per family to pay for things like education, police, fire, medical, and subsidized housing.

In February of 2019, the Los Angeles city council signed a resolution making it a sanctuary city. The resolution did not provide any new legal protections to their immigrants, but instead solidified existing policies.

In October 2017, former California governor Jerry Brown signed SB 54 into law. This bill made California, in Brown’s own words, a “sanctuary state.” The Justice Department filed a lawsuit against the State of California over the law. A federal judge dismissed that suit in July. SB 54 took effect on Jan. 1, 2018.

According to Center for Immigration Studies, “The new law does many things: It forbids all localities from cooperating with ICE detainer notices, it bars any law enforcement officer from participating in the popular 287(g) program, and it prevents state and local police from inquiring about individuals’ immigration status.”

Some counties in California have protested its implementation and joined the Trump administration’s lawsuit against the state.

California’s campaign to provide public services to illegal immigrants did not end with the exit of Jerry Brown. His successor, Gavin Newsom, is just as focused as Brown in funding programs for illegal residents at the expense of California taxpayers.

California’s budget earmarks millions of dollars annually to the One California program, which provides free legal assistance to all aliens, including those facing deportation, and makes California’s public universities easier for illegal-alien students to attend.

According to the Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration on United States Taxpayers 2017 report, for the estimated 12.5 million illegal immigrants living in the country, the resulting cost is a $116 billion burden on the national economy and taxpayers each year, after deducting the $19 billion in taxes paid by some of those illegal immigrants.

Feds Seize 5,000 Pounds of Meth Setting Record for California Border County

Federal and local law enforcement officials seized a record-setting load of cartel-connected methamphetamine in San Diego County, California. The drugs, loaded 20-foot box truck, weighed in excess of 5,000 pounds and are reported to be the largest seizure in San Diego County.

During the afternoon of July 7, federal officials observed a box truck enter the U.S. through the Otay Mesa Commercial Port of Entry, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California. Law enforcement agencies surveilled the truck to its destination in National City, California. The agents watched as the alleged drug smugglers unloaded the truck into a Dodge van.

At that point, law enforcement officers moved in and arrested Rafael Alzua, 37; Mario Contreras, 41; Ethgar Velazquez, 44; and Galdrino Contreras, 41, prosecutors stated. Officials listed all four suspects as residents of Tijuana, Mexico.

An inspection of the boxes revealed more than 5,000 pounds of drugs that later tested positive for methamphetamine.

“This is a significant accomplishment by our law enforcement partners,” U.S. Attorney Randy Grossman said in a written statement. “Due to stellar work by law enforcement agents, the government stopped more than 5,000 pounds of methamphetamine from being distributed on our streets.”

The case is being investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, Border Crime Suppression Team, Homeland Security Investigations, and the United States Border Patrol.

DEA Special Agent in Charge Shelly S. Howe stated, “This monumental seizure represents another win against drug cartels that fuel addiction in the United States. Because of our great partnerships with other law enforcement agencies, we will continue to disrupt the cartels’ flow of drugs into our cities.”

San Diego County Sheriff Anthony C. Ray added, “I am grateful for the hard work, vigilance, and steadfast dedication of our Sheriff’s Detectives, as well as our local, state, and federal partners. Our partnership and collaboration allow us to share information that is absolutely critical in keeping drugs from entering our streets and holding drug traffickers accountable.”

The four men from Mexico now face charges of Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine. If convicted, each could face a prison term of ten years to life and a fine of up to $10 million.

Court records were not yet available in the document tracking system.

Gavin Newsom Wants DeSantis Arrested for ‘Kidnapping’; Bused Homeless People Out of San Francisco

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) demanded that the Department of Justice investigate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) for “kidnapping” for flying migrants to Martha’s Vineyard — but Newsom bused homeless people from San Francisco elsewhere.

As National Public Radio reported in 2006, then-San Francisco Mayor Newsom launched the “Homeward Bound” program in an unsuccessful effort to rid the city of homeless people who were attracted by generous welfare and relatively warm weather.

Under the voluntary program, homeless people who applied were given a same-day one-way bus ticket to their cities of origin, “where friends and family may help them,” NPR noted.

NPR reported at the time that Newsom saw the program as a way to save money on public services as well as to remove some of the city’s homeless population:

Send the homeless back home, back to where they’ve come from, where friends and family may help them. San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom calls his Homeward Bound program a major success, but as NPR’s Richard Gonzales reports, critics say San Francisco is dumping its problems on others.

The Homeward Bound program is a brainchild of Mayor Gavin Newsom. He says he was inspired by a media report of a Florida family who rescued their homeless sister from the San Francisco streets.

Mayor Newsom says Homeward Bound has cost the city less than 100,000 dollars. Compared to the millions of dollars it costs to house the homeless, Newsom says the financial return is obvious.

Last week, Newsom called DeSantis “cruel” for flying migrants out of Florida — where they had already been brought by federal authorities, who have bused and flown tens of thousands of migrants around the country over the past several years.

According to Fox News, Newsom continued to defend the Homeward Bound program as recently as 2019 — claiming, falsely, that the “vast majority” of homeless people in San Francisco came from Texas. The city still has a large homeless population.

“There is no comparison between the two,” a spokesperson for Newsom told Fox News, when asked about the apparent hypocrisy. “SF helped people get home to their families. GOP Republicans kidnapped people for a political stunt.”

Small-business owners have been hit Petty

Thieves Plague San Francisco. ‘These Last Two

Years Have Been Insane.’

By Zusha Elinson

SAN FRANCISCO— Terry Asten Bennett’s family has been running Cliff’s Variety Store since 1936. In all that time, they’ve never experienced the amount of burglaries and property damage that they have recently, Ms. Bennett said.

Thieves smashed a display window and broke down a door to steal items as small as spray paint, and people shattered glass doors on two occasions for no apparent reason.

“These last two years have been insane,” she said. “It used to be a rare occurrence.”

Although violent crime in San Francisco is lower than in many other major U.S. cities, business owners, residents and visitors here are dealing with a rash of thefts, burglaries and car break-ins.

Among the 25 largest U.S. cities, San Francisco has had the highest property-crime rate in four of the most recent six years for which data is available, bucking the long-term national decline in such crimes that began in the 1990s. Property crimes declined in San Francisco during the first year of the pandemic, but rose 13% in 2021. Burglaries in the city are at their highest levels since the mid-1990s. There were 20,663 thefts from vehicles last year—almost 57 a day—a 39% increase from the prior year, although still below the record of 31,398 in 2017, according to the police.

Smashed storefronts are so common that the city launched a program to fix them with public money. Car owners leave notes declaring there is nothing of value in their vehicles, or leave their windows open to save themselves from broken glass. Videos of shoplifters hauling goods out of drugstores such as Walgreens have gone viral, and a smash-and-grab robbery by 20 to 40 people at a Louis Vuitton store last November made the national news.

Owners of small businesses say the costs of security and repairs are eating into profits already diminished by the Covid-19 pandemic. In the Castro, the neighborhood where Cliff’s is located, shops have recorded nearly 100 instances of smashed windows and doors that cost $170,000 to repair since the beginning of 2020, according to the neighborhood’s merchant association.

Criminologists say San Francisco’s high density of retail stores and its mix of tourists, commuters and wealthy residents have made it an inviting target for thieves. Locals point to a host of other factors that may be exacerbating the problem, including the tactics of the police and prosecutors, statewide changes intended to reduce the number of people behind bars, and the city’s dual crises of drug use and homelessness. There has been no end of finger-pointing.

Despite the city’s long history of progressive politics, some business owners and residents are demanding that political leaders shift to a more law-and-order approach.

San Francisco’s mix of retail stores, tourists, commuters and wealthy residents have made it an inviting target. The Union Square retail district, top, and the Chinatown neighborhood.

District Attorney Chesa Boudin, who took office in 2020 as part of the national “progressive prosecutor” movement and has de-emphasized the prosecution of low-level offenses, will face a recall election in June.

“Nothing is more important than to make sure that people who live in this city, people who work in the city, people who visit San Francisco, feel safe,” Democratic Mayor London Breed said at a news conference last month. “The fact is, that does require police officers.”

Some former police officials and business owners blame Mr. Boudin’s focus on keeping people who commit small-scale crimes out of prison. His office, for example, discourages filing charges in cases where suspects are pulled over for traffic infractions and officers find small amounts of drugs. Others point the finger at the police, who cleared just 6% of the city’s property crimes in 2020, more than 8 percentage points lower than the national average. A case is considered cleared if a suspect is arrested, charged and turned over to a court for prosecution, or is identified with sufficient evidence for a charge but can’t be taken into custody for circumstances beyond police control.

Some business owners say the city’s large population of people living on the streets and using drugs such as fentanyl is a big factor in the small-scale thefts. Law-enforcement officials, though, say they suspect organized crews of petty criminals are carrying out a large portion of them.

Police Chief Bill Scott has deployed more officers to tourist spots such as Fisherman’s Wharf to stop car break ins, and to retail shopping districts to stop thefts and burglaries. He has beefed up his retail theft investigations unit.

Businesses have been affected in every corner of San Francisco, even traditionally low-crime areas such as the Sunset District, where commercial and residential burglaries rose 80% in between 2019 and 2021.

Michael Hsu’s Footprint shoe store got broken into for the first time in February 2021. The thief used a blowtorch to crack the glass door without setting off the alarm and took tens of thousands of dollars worth of high-end North Face jackets. More people arrived soon after, taking whatever they could grab before they set off the alarm.

Mr. Hsu, who grew up in the Sunset, said he recalled thinking: “Oh, they finally got me.”

Michael Hsu's shoe store in the Sunset neighborhood has been burglarized repeatedly.

He now keeps some merchandise locked with security cables.

He turned to a grant program for small businesses to fix his shattered storefront.

Security footage shows a thief using a blowtorch to crack the glass door at Footprint.

Michael Hsu

Mr. Hsu was the first recipient in the new grant program for small businesses to fix their storefronts. Three weeks later, his store was hit again, this time by a thief who climbed up scaffolding, broke in through a second-story window and made off with several boxes of shoes.

He now equips his employees with pepper spray and a key fob that calls the police directly. He upgraded his security system and is putting money aside for other antitheft measures.

The grant program has distributed more than $500,000 to nearly 400 businesses to fix their storefronts.

Sharky Laguana, who is president of the city’s small business commission and runs the van-rental company Bandago, said thieves frequently smash his vehicles’ windows and steal his customers’ belongings. “It gives customers a bad experience, it costs them a lot of money and it costs us a lot of money,” he said.

Police and prosecutors say the majority of car break-ins are committed by organized crews. Mr. Laguana grew so frustrated he launched a reward program for information that leads to busts of big fencing operations that buy merchandise from such thieves. He thought he would be able to raise tens of thousands of dollars at best; he got $250,000 in pledges from rental-car companies and other businesses.

The day after the Louis Vuitton smash-and-grab robbery, San Francisco police deployed a mobile command center that still sits across the street from the luxury-goods store. The department sent more foot patrols to the Union Square retail district, pulling officers from all over the city, said Captain Julian Ng who oversees the area.

“It’s a resource drain, but if I had my way, we’d do this forever because it’s such an important area for the city,” said Capt. Ng.

Police Capt. Julian Ng, top, on the street in Chinatown. Shattered auto glass in the parking lot of a popular tourist destination.

Five people were arrested in connection with the Louis Vuitton incident. Captain Ng said there are many reasons for the city’s overall low rate of clearing property-crime cases, including the department’s no-chase policy for misdemeanors and nonviolent felonies, which aims to reduce unnecessary accidents. Car break-in crews can easily zip away in their own vehicles without police cars chasing them, he said.

Some former police officials said in interviews that officers don’t feel it is worth making an arrest in low-level cases because they assume the district attorney won’t file charges. They also point to a statewide ballot measure passed in 2014—Proposition 47—that raised the dollar amount at which theft can be prosecuted as a felony from $400 to $950.

Mr. Boudin, a former public defender, said his office hasn’t changed the way it prosecutes property crimes from the previous district attorney, George Gascon, who is now district attorney in Los Angeles and facing his own recall campaign. The office’s rate of filing charges against people arrested for burglaries and thefts dipped to 41% in Mr. Boudin’s first year in office, but increased to 58% in 2021, similar to the rate during Mr. Gascon’s tenure.

Mr. Boudin has pointed the finger back at the police, arguing that the certainty of arrest is low in San Francisco compared with other cities. More consistent arrests of criminals, he has said, would be a more powerful deterrent than the length of prison sentences.

Last November, officers were caught on a surveillance camera sitting in a squad car, watching as burglars made off with stolen product from a cannabis dispensary. The department is investigating the incident.

Lt. Scott Ryan, who heads a unit that investigates property crimes, said clearance rates aren’t a good measure because police often nab serial offenders who they believe to be responsible for far more burglaries or thefts than they can prove.

He said consequences aren’t severe enough for repeat offenders. Police investigators have a list of 48 people arrested five or more times for burglaries in recent years, he said, and more than half of them are no longer behind bars. “There’s got to be a line in the sand,” he said.

In February, Ms. Bennett, the owner of Cliff’s Variety, received an email alert that angered her. The burglar who broke into her store to steal spray paint and gloves was being released from jail, it said.

Charles Andrews, who was convicted in the burglary, was getting out of jail after 244 days. It was the second time that Mr. Andrews had been arrested for breaking into Cliff’s, the first coming in 2017.

The other burglar, who smashed a $4,500 display window to steal a $200 emergency kit, was never caught.

Terry Asten Bennett, right, in front of her family-owned store, Cliff's Variety Store.

She said the store has been burglarized more than once by the same person.

Security footage shows a break-in at Cliff's Variety.

A large TV displays the many security cameras throughout the store.

Sylvia Cediel, a public defender who represented Mr. Andrews, said his repeated arrests “reflect the circumstances of his life—primarily extreme poverty.” Mr. Andrews has been homeless since he came to the Bay Area more than a decade ago, she said, and his time in jail has been the only time he has spent off the streets. Ms Cediel said the city needs to do a better job addressing poverty and lack of housing.

Ms. Bennett said she believes the worsening drug problem within San Francisco’s homeless population has led to thefts and some of the property damage at Cliff’s. Last year, Mayor Breed declared a state of emergency because of overdoses in the city’s Tenderloin neighborhood.

In an effort to deter shoplifters, Ms. Bennett now stations employees at the door to greet customers. She installed a camera system and gave employees walkie-talkies so they could monitor shoplifters and confront them before they leave the store. Shoplifting losses have since dropped from 2% to 1% percent of annual sales, she said.

The increase in burglaries, which often involves breaking into closed shops, may be driven in part by emptier streets during the pandemic, police and criminologists say.

Ms. Bennett, whose great-great-grandfather Hilario DeBaca started the business, said the increase in crime hasn’t made her consider closing Cliff’s, which she said is woven into the neighborhood. But the break-ins are eating into the store’s bottom line.

New metal gates to protect the entrances plus repairs from the two burglaries and shattered door totaled about $22,000, less than half of which was covered by insurance, she said. She is applying to the city grant program to fix the most recently shattered door.

“When you’re a small-business owner, you spend more hours at work than at home, so you take it very personally when someone attacks you,” she said. “Whether it’s an attack on you or just your building, it really doesn’t matter. It feels the same.”

Beyond these issues, the impact of uncontrolled migration is cultural, which can hardly be gauged because the change is gradual.

The migrants may originate from cultures that have anachronistic values and practices from what is found in the U.S. Instead of adapting to their surroundings, quite a few expect everyone else to adapt to their values. Among other things, their refusal to conform results in ‘honor' killings, incestuous marriages, child marriages, foot baths, and 'press 1 for English.’

“Joe Biden is great on immigration. I guess depends on your perspective. If you’re a human trafficker, or drug dealer, or all those migrants wearing the Biden let us in shirts, you’d give him an A-plus, plus, but the American people would give him an F. The crisis we said our border was not only entirely predictable. It was predicted. I predicted it last fall that if you campaign all year long on open borders, amnesty, and health care for illegals, you’re going to get more migrants at the border. That’s exactly what’s happened every month since the election.”                      SEN. TOM COTTON

There is also an impact on wages.

If impoverished migrants agree to work for less than minimum wages without benefits, the working-class citizens either suffers job redundancy or depression in wages. If they work under the table and send their untaxed remittances home, communities go underdeveloped and get a run-down look.

When some among the migrants commit violent crimes -- through car break-ins, burglaries, vandalism, fentanyl dealing, identity theft, strongarm robberies, rapes, and other violent crimes, it is the working class citizen who suffers. At times, they pay with their lives.

Holding the open-borders Democrats accountable.

The U.S. is currently in the midst of a serious border crisis since Joe Biden took over.

More than 1.7 million migrant encounters occurred in FY 2021, and more than 2 million in FY 2022. The actual number of individuals who managed to cross the border and are inside the U.S. has to be considerably higher.

So what usually occurs after these migrants are apprehended?

The Biden administration transports these migrants, including the underaged migrants, via night flights, from Texas to New York, late at night.

So what happens after they land?

The New York Post reported that the migrants are then bussed to various other states or cities such as New Jersey or Philadelphia. It isn’t beyond the realms of possibility that these migrants are dropped into swing states.

None of this is reported by the mainstream news media, obviously.

The migrants are resettled into working-class neighborhoods of these states.

Any locality has facilities and resources that are directly proportional to the number of residents, i.e., citizens, living there.

What happens when migrants inundate these localities?

They occupy parks, pavements, and other free spaces, and once again the citizens whose tax money funds the construction and maintenance of these places, suffers.

When the sanitation and waste management facilities are overwhelmed, it results in the surroundings becoming unhygienic, which will become a health hazard causing the spread of diseases.

If the migrants have highly contagious infections such as COVID-19, Monkeypox, tuberculosis, measles, leishmanosis, or any other infectious diseases, once again the citizen suffers, first in the risk of being infected,  and second as health facilities meant for citizens are overwhelmed, causing them to have no option but to ignore citizens.

When some among the migrants commit violent crimes -- through car break-ins, burglaries, vandalism, fentanyl dealing, identity theft, strongarm robberies, rapes, and other violent crimes, it is the working class citizen who suffers. At times, they pay with their lives.

"Why just blame migrants, even citizens could be infected with diseases and be criminals?" is what the open border proponent will say in retaliation as they accuse you of bigotry.

Well, the problems that could emanate from citizens are the nation's problems, that doesn't mean we should import more problems.

There is also an impact on wages.

If impoverished migrants agree to work for less than minimum wages without benefits, the working-class citizens either suffers job redundancy or depression in wages. If they work under the table and send their untaxed remittances home, communities go underdeveloped and get a run-down look.

In addition to the violence and regressive practices, culture and values are the core identity of a nation and a locality that sees its erosion will soon be a lost community.

This uncontrolled influx is a long-term project of the Democrats – to inundate swing states with these migrants who, they think, will be Democrat voters. The hope is this new Democrat voter base will overwhelm the impact of existing Republican voters.

Soon elections are rendered meaningless.

The Democrats have successfully implemented this in states such as New York and California, where even a potted plant, or worse, the likes of AOC, with the letter ‘D’ after its name, is certain to win elections. In California, there are districts so packed with illegal aliens that voter turnout only amounts to about 10% of the number of people present to create the district. These are known as "dead" zones and Democrats know all about them. Large numbers of illegal immigrants also pad congressional seats for Democrats so that even if the illegals do not vote, their presence makes Democrat congressional seats possible that wouldn't otherwise be there. The contests in these states with these arrangements are not between left and right, but left, far left, and socialists.

This open border isn’t due to Biden’s misgovernance, this is an intentional and malicious act to ensure a permanence of power, both nationally, and in key states.

The Democratic leaders who support open borders never suffer the consequences of the policies they advocate.

They live in affluent localities. Their properties are surrounded by imposing walls. They also have armed bodyguards. The migrants will not be allowed even near these localities, except as maids and gardeners.

That changed in April, when Texas Gov. Greg Abbott led a unique practical experiment by transporting immigrants on a voluntary basis to "sanctuary" states run by open borders advocates. The goal was to make them accept the consequences of their words and actions.

These migrants were transported to cities such as New York, Chicago, and Washington. Some were even dropped outside the Washington D.C. home of Kamala Harris, Joe Biden's border czar who had just advised the country that the border was "secure."

The governor of Arizona also followed this move, as so did Florida's Gov. Ron DeSantis, who flew some 50 migrants in to tony Martha’s Vineyard.

As expected, the migrants haven’t been welcomed with open arms. The mayors of the cities have complained and attacked Republican governors while the wealthy liberals of Martha’s Vineyard haven’t actually opened their homes to the migrants they claim to love. Some authorities have called the National Guard.

In doing this, the governors have revealed the Democrats to be hypocrites and elitists.

But we already knew that.

So what happens next?

Doubtlessly, at least some of these migrants will be transported to detention centers away from the local mansions where they will then be re-released back to swing or Republican states.

If there has to be any long-term impact from this amusing exercise, all GOP governors much join in and keep dispatching migrants, to liberal states for as long as they can.

In time, the Democrats may block the busses at their city borders and prevent migrants from disembarking from planes.

It will be chaotic.

The only hope is that the chaos will cause local authorities compel the upper echelons of the Democrat party to fix the borders.

But the exercise in holding the open-border proponents accountable must not stop here.

When the GOP wins back the House and the Senate, they must author a bill that does the following:

  • Mandates the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to resume construction of a border barrier wall along the U.S.-Mexico border that President Trump began.
  • Mandates DHS to deploy tactical infrastructure and technology across all borders beginning with the southern border.
  • Mandates U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to increase the number of border security agents and officers.

Now for the most crucial aspect of all this, the funding:

Yes, the taxpayers will be paying.

But the bill must have any or ideally both of the following clauses:

  • Mandate the transportation of migrants to liberal states whose governors, senators, representatives, and mayors advocate open borders.
  • All lawmakers who do not vote for the bill, i.e., who advocate open borders, must be compelled to pay an additional tax to fund infrastructure in these liberal cities that will accommodate the newly arrived migrants.
  • In addition to accommodation, these lawmakers must also contribute to funds for law enforcement, hospitals, and schools for migrants.
  • This tax must not be restricted to lawmakers, but also to governors, mayors, and presidents who are proponents of open borders.

This will be an ideal way for the Democrats to show they really care for the migrants.

The Democrats will have two choices, either vote for border security and pay nothing, or not vote for border security and fund the costs of migrants.

Let’s see how they vote.

Will a bill such as this ever be authored?

Very unlikely.

But one sincerely hopes some among the lawmakers at least try.

 VISUALIZE IMPEACHMENT

AND DEPORTATION TO GITMO

Other policies include a shift away from prioritizing the deportation of illegal immigrants. The Free Beacon last year reported on deportations plummeting by 90 percent under the Biden administration, meaning fewer illegal immigrants are now removed from the country than at any point in decades.

Gavin Newsom Challenges Ron DeSantis to a Debate on CNN

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) on Friday challenged Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) to a debate after months of hurling attacks at Gov. DeSantis.

Newsom’s proposal for a debate is the latest move in a brewing feud between him and DeSantis.

After months of name-calling and running negative ads in Florida, Newsom asked the feds on Thursday to intervene and investigate DeSantis for “kidnapping” after DeSantis sent 50 illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard, an elite vacation spot where former President Barack Obama owns a $15 million home.

“In particular, I urge US DOJ to investigate whether the alleged fraudulent inducement would support charges of kidnapping under relevant state laws, which could serve as a predicate offense for charges under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization (RICO) provisions of the Organized Crime Control Act of 1970,” Newsom wrote in a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland.

DeSantis commented Friday on Newsom’s letter to Garland, saying, “I think his hair gel is interfering with his brain function.”

“So the governor of California sent a letter to the Department of Justice saying, ‘You need to prosecute Texas and Florida governors.’ And all I can say is, I think his hair gel is interfering with his brain function,” DeSantis said.

Later on Friday, Newsom responded to DeSantis’s hair gel quip by proposing the two debate each other before the midterm elections in November.

“Hey @GovRonDeSantis, clearly you’re struggling, distracted, and busy playing politics with people’s lives,” Newsom tweeted. “Since you have only one overriding need — attention –let’s take this up & debate. I’ll bring my hair gel. You bring your hairspray. Name the time before Election Day.”

The California governor also tagged CNN’s Twitter account, possibly suggesting them as a moderator.

Newsom’s debate proposal seems to be inspired by Dan Rather, who tweeted about the idea of a debate between the two governors last month.

“Here’s an idea for Chris Licht, the new head of @CNN. Set up a debate — one-on-one — between @GavinNewsom and @RonDeSantisFL,” Rather tweeted. “Two governors of big states, potential presidential candidates. Prime time. Ratings I bet would be huge. Who would have the courage to show up?”

Although Newsom challenged DeSantis to a debate, he also recently agreed to debate his Republican challenger in California’s gubernatorial election, state Sen. Brian Dahle.

“Yeah, happy to do it and we’ll do it just as we did the last time I ran for office,” Newsom said when asked about the possibility of a debate with Dahle. “So, I look forward to it.”

It's your message, Democrats

By Silvio Canto, Jr.

Yesterday, House speaker Nancy Pelosi said she does not understand where the lawlessness is coming from.  She was talking about all of those attack on shops in San Francisco.

Maybe Mrs. Pelosi finally noticed when the mob attacked her favorite places!

The mayor of San Francisco noticed the looting, too.  This is the story:

The mayor's plan includes a series of initiatives to implement a 180-degree reversal from blind compassion to "tough love." Outlined in a Medium post, Breed's proposals take aim at illegal drug sales and restore funding for police with targeted resources dedicated to the low-income Tenderloin neighborhood. The mayor calls for:

Executing an Emergency Intervention Plan in the Tenderloin neighborhood

Securing emergency police funding to ensure we have the resources to combat major safety problems over the next several

Amending our surveillance ordinance so law enforcement can prevent and interrupt crime in real time — something they're effectively barred from doing now — to better protect our homes and businesses

Disrupting the illegal street sales of stolen goods that have become a clear public safety issue and are contributing to retail theft

Well, at least the strategy is changing.  Let's hope it goes beyond talking points.

Why are Democrats suddenly talking about crime?

The answer is twofold:

First, this level of "lawlessness," as the speaker would say, is driving taxpayers away.  My guess is that it keeps a lot of people from driving downtown for dinner on a Saturday.  I was in a city in Maryland last summer and asked about Little Italy, a once-charming neighborhood for eating Italian food.  My friend said it was still there, but many people were afraid of going down in this atmosphere.

Second, the violence must be hurting Democrats with African-Americans and Hispanics, or the people who live in those areas, which may be both.  Check out Chicago and the weekend shootings.  It's hard to blame Trump when everyone running the city is a liberal Democrat.

Memo to Democrats: Let the police do their job, and you will see how quickly the "lawlessness" will disappear.

GOP Campaign Chief Tom Emmer: ‘Crime Is Through the Roof’, Will Play ‘Huge’ Role in November

Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN), chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), declared that “crime is through the roof” and that it will play a “huge” role in the upcoming midterm elections during his recent appearance on Breitbart News Saturday.

“At the end of the day, I’ll put it in terms like this. You don’t know what the jury — the voters — are going to decide [in] November,” Emmer explained. “I do know that they’re going to return the majority to Republicans, but how broad and how deep that is, we’ll leave that for them to tell us.”

The NRCC chair noted that the “Democrats just passed a bill so they can hire an army of IRS agents to harass conservatives and the middle class” and that the Republicans will win by pointing out the Democrats’ pro-crime agenda.

“We’re gonna win with our candidates by highlighting… Democrats’ pro-criminal policies that have created chaos and violence in our communities, and we’re gonna win by reminding voters that Democrats have prioritized open borders and given drug cartels a free pass to terrorize American citizens,” Emmer added.

He also clarified that the House races across the country are the “largest local race on the ballot” this year and how they are looking to localize the elections to a specific geography and demographic areas for the candidates as much as possible.

“You’ll see us continue to tailor our message to specific areas,” he said, explaining how the Republicans are looking to localize the elections. “In New York, expect crime to continue to be a key theme highlighting Democrats’ pro-criminal policies. I mentioned the cashless bail earlier. I mean, where, where does it make sense, let murderers and thieves and people committing assaults right back out on the street within hours after they’re picked up.”

Expanding on New York, Emmer stated that Republicans’ opportunities to pick up Democrat-held seats look “extremely promising” since crime is a significant issue in the state.

“It’s driven largely by that violent crime wave the Democrats policy should create it,” he added. “Every one of these Democrats in New York has supported cashless bail, which puts criminals before… it puts criminals ahead of the actual citizens that were supposed to be law-abiding citizens were supposed to be protected.”

In addition to fixing crime, Emmer added that “A vote for a Republican is a vote to get a cost of living back under control and restore American energy independence” and would be “for safety and security in our communities, in our states, in our country, and around the world,” for a “secure border,” and “putting parents back in charge of the decisions they believe are most important when it comes to their children and their own personal lives.”

California—not Mississippi, New Mexico, or West Virginia—has the highest poverty rate in the United States. California’s de facto status as a one-party state lies at the heart of its poverty problem. With a permanent majority in the state senate and the assembly, a prolonged dominance in the executive branch, and a weak opposition, California Democrats have long been free to indulge blue-state ideology while paying little or no political price. The state’s poverty problem is unlikely to improve while policymakers remain unwilling to unleash the engines of economic prosperity that drove California to its golden years. Kerry Jackson

As Breitbart News reported, if chain migration is not ended — as President Donald Trump has demanded — the U.S. electorate will forever be changed, with between seven to eight million new foreign-born individuals being eligible to vote because of chain migration, and overall, an additional 15 million new foreign-born voters.

Pelosi Saves Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars Through Another ‘Timely’ Stock Move

Some stock traders think the speaker is 'making the big bucks off of insider information,' Business Insider reported

 • September 2, 2022 3:10 pm

SHARE

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) and her multimillionaire husband, Paul Pelosi, saved hundreds of thousands of dollars by selling their shares in Nvidia about one month before the U.S. government placed restrictions on the tech company, causing its stock price to plummet.

In July, the Pelosis sold all 25,000 of their shares in Nvidia. On Aug. 26, the government ordered Nvidia to stop selling microchips in China and Russia without authorization, which could cost the company up to $400 million, CNBC reported on Wednesday. The day after CNBC's report, Nvidia's stock price was down nearly 12 percent, according to the Wall Street Journal.

By selling the shares before the news broke, the speaker and her husband saved around $600,000, according to multiple Twitter accounts that track the Pelosis' controversial stock trades.

Paul Pelosi has a long history of making "timely" purchases in companies that his wife has worked to subsidize, the Washington Free Beacon has reported. He purchased the Nvidia stock in June as the speaker oversaw a bill that would grant billions of dollars in subsidies that could benefit the company.

Internet stock traders often follow Nancy Pelosi's purchases and selloffs for investing tips, Business Insider reported, with some suggesting "she's making the big bucks off of insider information."

A Nancy Pelosi spokesman told Fox Business that Paul Pelosi does not speak to his wife about his stock trades until after he makes the trades.

While the speaker in February implied that she wouldn't oppose a congressional stock-trading ban, she appears "content to let" a ban "die behind the scenes," the Daily Beast reported.

"The people who control the calendar don't want to bring it to the floor," Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D., Va.) said.

The welcome was anything but warm for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Saturday night as she was booed on stage at the Global Citizen Festival after being introduced by Indian actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

Pelosi, 82, was attending the gathering in New York’s Central Park with husband Paul when Chopra Jonas invited her to appear before the crowd of music devotees.

The result was underwhelming for them both.

As Pelosi set out plans heading for Congress to tackle climate issues, members of the audience could be heard booing the veteran Democrat even as she expounded on carbon pollution and “climate change.”

“It’s thanks to your help that the United States recently enacted historic climate legislation, which will be a game changer,” Pelosi said as the jeers carried on, the New York Post reports.

“It will slash carbon pollution by 40 percent by 2030, it will give a historic, an historic $370 billion to fight the climate crisis.”

As the audience grew even more loud in its response, several hecklers are heard yelling “let’s go!” apparently looking for the evening’s entertainment to resume without a politician taking center stage.

The Post report added Pelosi tried to continue her speech, saying the bill would result in “better water and air for our children” as well as “better-paying jobs and lower energy bills for their parents.”

The California representative can also be heard calling for “better water and air for our children” and “better-paying jobs and lower energy bills for their parents.”

Mariah Carey, Metallica, The Jonas Brothers and Usher performed at the festival.

President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen also spoke at the event.

More People Leaving San Francisco Than Any Other Metro Area: Redfin

More people left the San Francisco metro area than any other metro area in the country in July and August, according to the real estate listing website Redfin, despite a downward trend in departing residents, due to falling prices of housing in the area.

SFGate.com reported:

The Bay Area leads the country in people planning to relocate despite an overall decline in those looking to leave from this time last year, which the report attributes to a recent drop in the area’s home prices. These numbers are determined by how many Redfin.com users were looking to leave an area compared to how many were looking to move in.

According to Redfin, 24.1% of its local users searched for properties outside of the Bay Area in July and August. Their top in-state destination is only a hop, skip and a jump along Interstate 80 away, in Sacramento. The top out-of-state destination for San Francisco home buyers is Seattle.

Droves of home buyers in places like the Bay Area, Los Angeles, New York City, Washington, D.C., and Boston are moving in favor of more affordable cities like Miami, Sacramento, San Diego, Las Vegas and Tampa.

San Francisco has suffered an exodus since before the pandemic, thanks to the high cost of living, and growing crime and homelessness. Ironically, then-Mayor Gavin Newsom, who is now California’s governor, promised in 2008 to end chronic homelessness within ten years.

Small-business owners have been hit Petty Thieves Plague San Francisco. ‘These Last Two Years Have Been Insane.’

https://www.wsj.com/articles/crime-san-francisco-petty-thieves-small-businesses-11647797642

Pelosi Calls GOP ‘Commitment’ to Secure Border, Stop Crime, Curb Inflation an ‘Out of Touch’ MAGA ‘Extremist Agenda’

On Thursday, Republicans unveiled a “Commitment to America” platform, which Democrat California House Speaker Nancy Pelosi denounced as a “whole-hearted commitment” to Make America Great Again (MAGA).

“Today’s rollout is the latest evidence of House Republicans’ whole-hearted Commitment to MAGA: going all-in on an extremist agenda designed to greatly diminish Americans’ health, freedom and security,” Pelosi said in a statement condemning Republicans’ commitment to stop violent crime, secure the border, tackle inflation and prevent illegal voting.

“But this extreme MAGA agenda is way out of step with Americans’ priorities, who align with Democrats’ vision of putting People Over Politics,” Pelosi says in her statement.

As Republican House Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy explains in a video, the nation is facing serious problems that require the attention of elected officials:

  • “Violent crime is at record highs in our streets and neighborhoods.”
  • “The border has become a national security crisis, with fentanyl killing our fellow citizens.”
  • “Soaring inflation has shrunk paychecks and sent us into a recession.”

Rep. McCarthy calls Republicans’ “Commitment” a “plan for an Economy that’s strong – where you can feed your family and fill up your tank” designed to make America “a nation that’s safe – where communities are protected by the police and criminals are prosecuted, a future that’s built on freedom where your children come first and are taught to dream big and a government that’s accountable where politicians don’t get special treatment.”

The full text of Pelosi’s statement is presented on Speaker Pelosi’s website.

Rep. McCarthy’s video is embedded below.

As Breitbart News pointed out, “the massive wave of new customers has helped spike the value of real estate, apartment rents, and the cost of new houses, especially in areas where well-to-do Americans flee from the arrival of diverse populations.”

“A 2017 report by the CATO Institute says the cost of illegal immigration could be reduced by cutting spending on border enforcement: ‘If the typical illegal immigrant increases the value of all housing unit prices by 11.5 cents, then illegal immigrants increase nationwide housing values by about $1 trillion,'” the report added.

A Congress full of contempt for the American people

There is no distinctly American criminal class except Congress.

                                                                                                                                    --Mark Twain

Since inflation is currently the major issue for the American people, the Democrat Congress, with much fanfare and the usual self-congratulation, passed the “Inflation Reduction Act.”

Since, however, one is here talking about Congress, one should not assume that anything is what it is claimed to be.  No sooner was the bill passed than former Secretary of State and current “climate envoy” John Kerry, one of the D-Mass bunch, who purchased his massive seven bedroom carbon footprint mansion in the fake liberal “sanctuary destination” of Martha’s Vineyard in 2017, slipped up and told the truth to the International Energy Agency's Global Clean Energy Action Forum: “I'm not sure how much it has to do with inflation, but that's O.K.”

A University of Pennsylvania Wharton School study agrees, concluding that it has “low confidence the legislation will have any impact on inflation.”

The reason this deception is “O.K.” with Kerry is that the real purpose of the bill is to spend 375 billion taxpayer dollars on the Left’s “green new deal” agenda to “tackle” climate change and double the number of IRS agents to harass the remaining fraction of Americans that still have a job or small business.

The reason the bill was not titled “The Green New Deal Bill” is that the peasants would not have approved of spending 375 billion of their tax dollars on the economy-destroying left-wing religious cult’s climate agenda or doubling the number of IRS agents to harass them.   It was therefore necessary to pretend that Congress was actually passing a bill designed to improve the peasants’ lives.  Thus, the “Green New Deal and IRS Harassment Expansion” bill was renamed the “Inflation Reduction Act” in the hopes that enough of the “deplorables” would be fooled in order to minimize Democrat party losses in the November 2022 midterms.

The fact that the Inflation Reduction Act will very likely increase inflation does not concern our multi-million-dollar overlords in their massive carbon footprints in Martha’s Vineyard.

One might assume that the main story here is that Congress, which is supposedly to represent its constituents, deceived the American people by labeling a “green new deal” bill as an inflation reduction act.

But no, even that is not the real story here.

The real story is John Kerry’s casual statement that he is “O.K. with” the deception, that is, that he says the secret part out loud, that our Democrat-controlled congress is happy to deceive the peasants (the American people) as long as they get what they want: more money and power for themselves

Unfortunately, Congress deceiving the peasants is the rule, not the exception.

In 2014, an Obamacare “architect” and MIT economics professor, Jonathan Gruber, speaking, while laughing, to a university audience, many of whom also laughed, let the secret part slip out:

Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage. … [The] stupidity of the American voter … was really, really critical for [Obamacare] to pass.

That is, Obamacare would not pass if the peasants knew what was in it, specifically, that it is a large tax increase, and, therefore, it is lucky that the voters (American people) are so stupid.

Since MIT genius Gruber was himself stupid enough to make such remarks in front of many audiences, a tape recording found its way to the news media and he did, sort of, apologize, but he was really only sorry that he got caught.

Anyone who has become familiar with the ivy league and similar top universities, knows that the sense of superiority is so thick one can cut it with a knife, and also knows that Gruber’s contempt for the American people is quite common.  For example, Yale Ph.D. Uwe Reinhardt does not believe Gruber should have apologized because “stupid” was a poor choice of words and Gruber should have called the American voters “ignorant” instead.

“Obamacare,” one recalls, was sold to the peasants on grounds that it would decrease health care costs for an average family by $2,500 a year.

In fact, that was obvious before it was passed, with the aid of Obama’s 2013 Politifact “lie of the year” that “if you like your health care and your doctor you can keep your health care and your doctor, period,” but the stupid peasants were not permitted to disagree with the elitists’ storyline.

It is abundantly clear that the attitude of Democrats in Congress toward the American people is contempt.  They feel no obligation to inform the peasants accurately because they are not interested in their opinions.

One might reply that this criticism applies to both Democrat and Republican congressional representatives and this is true.  The Republicans, many of whom are actually closet Democrats, are not blameless, either. Liz Cheney, after all, said she might campaign for Democrats in the next election, and other Republicans are just weaklings.  Many Republicans sound quite promising around election time when they want your vote but cannot wait after they are elected to cave to their Democrat co-conspirators.  One of the other illuminating things Twain also says about Congress is that “fleas can be taught nearly anything that a congressman can,” and that is, to jump.  When congressmen of either party are approached by their donors or attacked by partisan leftist thugs, they forget the people who put them in office and jump as directed like frightened insects.

However, the Democrat-controlled Congress is what we have now.

The scale of the problem is far greater now than it was five or ten years ago.  Republicans are not very good, but at least they don’t seem as intent on destroying the United States while scoring massive profits for themselves.

One can debate why the problem is worse now than it has been in recent memory but part of the answer is clearly that the Democrats were so unhinged by Trump’s victory in 2016 that they decided that they must get what they want by any means necessary, whether fair of foul, which, as it turned out, was mostly foul.  Since Trump was not a part of their greedy incompetent elite club, he was a threat to their power and so the gloves came off.  Whatever the full reason, the current Democrat Congress see the American people as sheep that need to be herded into pens and controlled with threats and misinformation

Mark Twain gives an additional piece of advice about politicians:

No country can be well governed unless its citizens as a body keep religiously before their minds that they are the guardians of the law and that the law officers are only the machinery for its execution, nothing more.

Unfortunately, at present, our mostly corrupt and/or incompetent, some malevolent, Democrat “law officers,” who seem, unaccountably, to think very well of themselves, need to be taught a lesson for going so far Left.

When people vote in the November 2022 congressional elections, they need to keep in mind, not merely the series of failed Democrat policies or the appalling nihilist hypocrisy of the Democrat Congress and president.  They also need to keep firmly in mind how much contempt many Democrats have both for the United States and for traditional freedom-loving American patriots and how casually and cynically they manipulate and deceive them.

GOP Prepares For End Of ‘One Party Rule’ With ‘Commitment to America’

Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.) in Monongahela, Pa.

MONONGAHELA, Pa.—House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.) outlined on Friday a governing agenda of what voters can expect in 2023 and beyond should Republicans retake Congress this November.

McCarthy's remarks were part of the House Republicans' newly revealed "Commitment to America," a comprehensive policy pitch for voters in the lead up to the November midterms. That pitch contains bold policy goals related to border security, cutting spending, tackling inflation, and reversing several of President Joe Biden’s legislative victories.

"It's a one-party rule that we've had for two years that have led to the disaster that we're in right now." McCarthy said. "It's going to take the values of southwestern Pennsylvania in ‘Real America' to get us back on track. That's why we're here."

The policies McCarthy announced include ending the practice of "catch-and-release" for illegal immigrants, loosening regulations on domestic oil and gas production, repealing large portions of the Inflation Reduction Act, and slashing taxes.

"As we went across this country listening, we heard the same thing, at the kitchen table, the dining room table, and inside the factory. ‘Can I afford it? Can I afford to fill up my tank? Can I afford the food, the milk, the baby formula?’" McCarthy said at a warehouse outside of Pittsburgh on Friday morning. "We asked everybody across this country, ‘Could you afford to give up one month of your wages? One month?' The sad part is the Democratic Party has already taken one month of your wages."

McCarthy’s announcement of a future House Republican majority policy agenda was reminiscent of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s 1994 "Contract With America." That proposal, meant to show voters that Republicans were committed to governing in a way that was responsive to voter concerns, was revealed six weeks before Republicans retook the House for the first time in 40 years.

The event also revealed the party's strategy of returning to kitchen-table issues such as the economy, illegal immigration fueling the fentanyl crisis, and left-wing overreach in public schools. Polling shows voters trust Republicans on issues related to the border and inflation, and Republican members told the Free Beacon they were confident it will increase the likelihood of a red wave in November.

"You don't have to walk down the sidewalk to trip over one of Joe Biden's crises," said Rep. Kat Cammack (R., Fla.) at the Friday event. "You don't have to be highly political and involved to realize how bad things are in everyday America. Everything in this country has turned for the worse."

"I talked to Republicans, Democrats, independents, they don't care who broke it," Cammack said. "They want to fix it and Republicans are the only ones that have a plan to actually fix it."

Although situated thousands of miles away from the southern border, voters in Monongahela expressed concern about the border, which has seen more illegal crossings a day than at any other point in U.S. history. With all those illegal crossings comes a flood of fentanyl, which has been deadly for communities across the country. A local police officer who spoke with the Free Beacon said his county has seen 69 fentanyl overdoses in 2022, a near record with still three months left in the year.

"Every city in America is a border city, whether you're in Texas, Pennsylvania, like we are now or anywhere across the country," Rep. Tony Gonzales (R., Texas) told the Free Beacon. "We're all a border city. Fentanyl is killing everybody, regardless of the color of your skin or live in rural America or live in urban America. We’re at the forefront of these dangers in Texas, but your city is next."

Republicans emphasized that their agenda resulted in participation from nearly every member, rather than party leadership. A wide range of members attended the event, from Steve Scalise (R., La.) to Marjorie Taylor Greene (R., Ga.), signifying a unified party on the cusp of retaking Congress.

"At the end of the day, we have to provide some tangibles on what our plan is," Rep. Lisa McClain (R., Mich.) told the Free Beacon. "When I’m in my district, voters will say what the problems are but also ask me, ‘Lisa, what are you going to do about it?’ And that’s what today is about."

Deadly Democrats: The Crime Wave No One’s Talking About

The left-wing killing spree is out of control

Violent crime continues to rise across the United States, and Democratic politicians are struggling to defend their anti-law enforcement policies that have in some cases resulted in preventable deaths. This alarming crime wave has coincided with a marked increase in the number of Democratic donors, operatives, and elected officials (and other left-wing maniacs) arrested and charged with violent crimes.

Here are a few of the most notable Democratic Party officials and associates to be charged, prosecuted, or sentenced for violent crimes in 2022:

Sean Caddle, a longtime Democratic consultant in New Jersey, pleaded guilty in January to hiring two people to murder a former associate, Michael Galdieri, who was found stabbed to death in his apartment in May 2014. Caddle, a former aide to Democratic state senator Ray Lesniak, operated a network of shady super PACs that poured money into local races throughout New Jersey. He was also implicated in an ACORN-linked voter fraud scandal in Texas. Caddle was scheduled to be sentenced in June, but that hearing was postponed until December amid reports that the Democratic operative was cooperating with federal authorities.

Ed Buck received a 30-year sentence in April after the Democratic megadonor and prominent California activist was found guilty of luring two men to his home and injecting them with fatal doses of methamphetamine. Federal authorities alleged that Buck engaged in a "lethal and unchecked pattern of reckless disregard for human life" by soliciting victims for sex by promising to provide them with drugs. During the trial, Buck's victims described being administered a variety of drugs until they lost consciousness, at which point Buck sexually assaulted them. U.S. Attorney Tracy L. Wilkison applauded the sentence, noting that the Democratic donor "preyed upon vulnerable victims—men who were drug-dependent and often without homes—to feed an obsession that led to death and misery."

Ghislaine Maxwell, a longtime associate of Bill and Hillary Clinton who attended former first daughter Chelsea Clinton's wedding in 2010, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for sex-trafficking underage girls. Authorities alleged that Maxwell played an "instrumental" role in helping another Clinton associate, the late multimillionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, to acquire and abuse young girls for at least a decade. Epstein's former pilot testified at trial that former president Clinton made several trips on the pedophile's private jet, often referred to as the "Lolita Express."

Jerry Harris, the former Biden campaign surrogate and star of the Netflix documentary series Cheer, was sentenced in June to 12 years in federal prison for sex crimes involving minors. Several months after taking part in an Instagram Live discussion with Biden in June 2020, Harris was arrested for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy at a cheer competition and paying another underaged victim to send him sexually explicit photos and videos on Snapchat.

Alex Murdaugh was charged in July with killing his wife and son. The South Carolina attorney, who donated $2,800 to Joe Biden's presidential campaign in 2020, was already facing an array of charges involving financial fraud, money laundering, and drug trafficking. He has already admitted to stealing more than $4 million of settlement funds owed to the family of Gloria Satterfield, who worked as Murdaugh's housekeeper until her mysterious death in 2018. Murdaugh, who is being represented by fellow Biden supporter Dick Harpootlian, is also accused of hiring his cousin to kill him in a botched murder-for-hire scheme to ensure his surviving son Buster would collect on the family life insurance policy.

Nicholas Roske was charged in July for attempting to murder Supreme Court justice Brett Kavanaugh after being arrested outside the justice's home in Maryland with a knife, pepper spray, and burglary tools, as well as a handgun and 37 rounds of ammunition. Roske told authorities he was motivated in part by the leak of a draft Supreme Court opinion overturning the landmark abortion case Roe v. Wade. Additional evidence suggested Roske sought to murder two other conservative justices in a bid to alter the High Court "for decades." The incident occurred several weeks after a New York Times opinion writer urged pro-abortion activists to escalate their efforts to intimidate Kavanaugh in public.

Robert Telles, a local Democratic official in Las Vegas, was charged earlier this month with the murder of investigative journalist Jeff German. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter was found stabbed to death outside his home on Sept. 3. German had written a series of stories about Telles's conduct in office—including allegations of corruption, bullying, and an extramarital affair—that resulted in Telles losing the Democratic primary for Clark County public administrator in June. Prosecutors have described the crime as "willful, deliberate, and premeditated," accusing Telles of "lying in wait" outside German's home before stabbing the 69-year-old journalist at least seven times and leaving him to die.

Shannon Brandt, a deranged liberal from North Dakota, was released on bail last week after he admitted to killing an 18-year-old with his car following a "political argument." Brandt told police he believed the victim, Cayler Ellingson, was "part of a Republican extremist group." The incident occurred several weeks after President Joe Biden delivered a menacing speech, ostensibly about national unity, in which he accused the Republican Party and its supporters of "destroying American democracy."

Fetterman Gave Nod to Crips Street Gang During Mayoral Campaign

As a mayoral candidate in 2005, Senate hopeful John Fetterman adopted a unique tactic to appeal to the youth of Braddock, Pa.: tout the borough’s connections to the notorious Crips street gang. After his election, he downplayed the gang’s prevalence in his town, and attributed some of their gang activity to the acts of "disenfranchised" and "disenchanted" youth.

During his first mayoral run in 2005, Fetterman adopted the slogan "Vote John Mayor of Braddocc," a nod to the spelling that local Crips gang members used for the town. After he was elected, Fetterman created the website Braddocc.com as part of a revitalization project to appeal to young people in the dilapidated steel town. The now-defunct website, which Fetterman launched with his own money, explains that "Braddocc" was "unofficially renamed" by the "young and disenfranchised for its Crip allegiance." The Justice Department considers the Crips, founded in southern California in the 1970s, to be one of the country’s most violent street gangs.

Fetterman, the Pennsylvania lieutenant governor, has come under fire during his Senate bid for his progressive views on criminal justice reform. Republicans have portrayed Fetterman as soft on crime for calling for the release of up to one-third of Pennsylvania’s prison inmates. As chairman of Pennsylvania’s Board of Pardons, Fetterman cast the lone vote to free several people convicted of first-degree murder. His appointee for secretary of the board has called to "disarm the police," and has referred to cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal as her "friend" and "buddy," the Washington Free Beacon reported.

Fetterman has denied that he glorifies the Crips or gang culture, though he has acknowledged that his embrace of the "Braddocc" nickname helped him in his 2005 campaign by attracting younger voters.

"Ultimately I carry their flag, because they’re the ones that made the difference that I won by one vote that first election," he said in 2015. "It’s not a glorification of gang violence, or embracing gang violence," he added of the "Braddocc" moniker, noting that he "caught some flak … because some people thought I was spelling it like a gangster."

While Fetterman promoted Crips lingo, he downplayed the gang’s presence in Braddock after his election win. In 2006, he said gang graffiti that appeared on buildings in the borough were the act of "a disenfranchised young person who is disaffected and has few options."

"You have ‘C'z Up' and ‘Ghuttacide,' but at the end of the day it's not a movement; it's not a reflection of what's going on. One shouldn't make the erroneous assumption that it's some kind of movement, some kind of criminal element," he told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in 2006.

Fetterman said punishing the teens behind the graffiti was not an ideal remedy and that the graffiti "appears more fearsome than it is."

But Crips were active in Braddock during Fetterman’s tenure as mayor.

Members of the gang appeared in a video from the late-2000s discussing their life in Braddock, promoting their music with the Braddock-based "Geto Bred Entertainment," and warning rivals against "snitching" to police. The video, which also employs the "Braddocc" moniker, shows gang members rapping in front of graffiti that bears the "C’z Up" and "Ghuttacide" tags that Fetterman discussed with the Post-Gazette.

Fetterman's campaign denies that Fetterman has any affinity for the Crips.

"The notion that John Fetterman has any affinity for the crips is complete and utter bullshit," Fetterman's communications director Joe Calvello told the Free Beacon. "Under John, crips in Braddock were taken off the street and put in jail."

Fetterman’s nod to the Crips can still be found at his loft in Braddock, where a city sign emblazoned with the gang’s graffiti hangs above his refrigerator. The New York Times photographed Fetterman in front of the sign for a 2011 profile. Fetterman’s wife posted a photo to social media in 2020 with the sign in the background.
