Among the 25 largest U.S. cities, San Francisco has had the highest

property-crime rate in four of the most recent six years for which

data is available, bucking the long-term national decline in such

crimes that began in the 1990s. Property crimes declined in San

Francisco during the first year of the pandemic, but rose 13% in

2021. Burglaries in the city are at their highest levels since the mid

1990s. There were 20,663 thefts from vehicles last year—almost 57

a day—a 39% increase from the prior year, although still below the

record of 31,398 in 2017, according to the police. Zusha Elinson

Pelosi Deserves to be Booed and Fired

Few politicians are better deserving.

If there is one politician who deserves to be booed it is House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). On Saturday night at Central Park in New York City among fellow leftists Pelosi received her just deserts.

As she was making a surprise speech to the crowd at the Global Citizen’s music festival, Pelosi was greeted with heckling and boos. This was a very unpleasant surprise for an audience that was hoping to hear music from Metallica, Mariah Carey, and the Jonas Brothers.

In her comments, Pelosi praised the action of Congress in passing funding for climate change. She said, “As speaker of the House, I am here to thank you for your dazzling advocacy, entrepreneurial thinking, and determination as global citizens…It’s thanks to your help that the United States recently enacted historic climate legislation, which will be a game changer…It will slash carbon pollution by 40% by 2030, it will give a historic, an historic $370 billion to fight the climate crisis.”

Even though she was championing an issue of importance to left-wing activists, the audience did not care. They responded with booing and chants of “Let’s go,” meaning they wanted Pelosi to leave immediately.

The catcalls continued as Pelosi told the crowd the legislation will create “better water and air for our children…. better paying jobs and lower energy bills for their parents.”

Eventually, she finished her speech after claiming that she promised her grandchildren, who were in attendance, that she would keep her remarks short. More likely, she left after realizing the depths of her unpopularity and a desire to limit the embarrassment.

Amazingly, even progressive attendees of a music festival that promotes globalism did not want to listen to a proponent of their ideology. They wanted to hear music, not a political speech from a political fossil.

Speaker Pelosi is 82 years old and has been in Congress for 35 years. She is in her 18th term as a United States Representative. She was Speaker of the House from 2007 to 2011 and resumed the role after Democrats took control of the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2018 midterm elections.

During her first term as House Speaker, Pelosi helped President Barack Obama and fellow congressional Democrats pass the controversial, expensive, and bureaucratic Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as Obamacare. Incredibly, the country is still saddled with this legislation and Pelosi deserves a lion’s share of the blame.

She should have retired years ago, but her high profile and powerful position is too lucrative for her family. Her wealth has skyrocketed, almost tripling to nearly $115 million, during her “public service” between 2004-2019.

In 2008, there were reports that Pelosi and her husband financially benefited from her position in Congress. The CBS show 60 Minutes aired a report on several members of Congress, including Pelosi, who profited from financial transactions that raised the possibility of conflicts of interest. Of course, Pelosi denied the claims, but such questions have been raised multiple times in recent years.

Pelosi is the worst type of politician, who puts her needs before those of her constituents. During the height of the pandemic in September of 2020, while her district was suffering under draconian “health” mandates that Pelosi supported and implemented in the U.S. House of Representatives, she visited a San Francisco hair salon and was captured on camera without a mask. It was the height of hypocrisy, but typical of Nancy Pelosi.

Sadly, Pelosi has performed a horrible disservice to her constituents in her San Francisco, CA congressional district. During her 35 years in Congress, San Francisco has degenerated into an urban hellhole. As businesses have left the city, San Francisco has seen a major increase in crime, filth, homelessness, and blight.

While her constituents have been suffering, Pelosi has been busy traveling the world as Speaker of the House. She is more concerned about her “global” duties and couldn’t care less about the needs of her district.

Her recent junket to a variety of countries in the Indo-Pacific region, including Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan, complicated U.S. foreign policy objectives. In fact, her trip to Taiwan might have been more to do with her family business interests than showing support for a country under constant threat from the communist mainland.

As leader of the Democrats in Congress, Pelosi has been viciously partisan. She never expressed one iota of interest in collaborating with President Donald Trump. As evidence, let us not forget her unprecedented and unhinged action of tearing up the written copy of his State of the Union address while standing behind him.

Instead of trying to forge bipartisan cooperation with President Trump, Pelosi was mostly concerned about impeaching him. She led the U.S. House of Representatives to impeaching President Trump twice, both on ridiculous charges that did not merit such proceedings.

As proof of her extreme partisanship and hatred of President Trump, Pelosi formed the “Select Committee on the January 6 Attack.” All nine members of this committee, seven Democrats and two establishment Republicans, are suffering from a severe case of “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” The committee is not interested in uncovering the “truth” of January 6, 2021, only in politically damaging President Trump so he cannot run for the White House again in 2024.

Since Joe Biden became President, Pelosi has supported his socialist agenda 100% of the time.  With Pelosi’s staunch support, Biden has passed the American Rescue Plan, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and, most recently, the Inflation Reduction Act.

None of these bills will help the economy. Instead, all of them have added trillions of dollars to our national debt. Thus, Americans can thank Nancy Pelosi for the unnecessary spending, the high inflation rate, and the funding of 87,000 more Internal Revenue Service agents.

Pelosi not only deserves to be booed, but she also deserves to be fired. Americans can accomplish that task in the midterm elections by removing Democrats from control of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Pelosi Saves Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars Through Another ‘Timely’ Stock Move

Some stock traders think the speaker is 'making the big bucks off of insider information,' Business Insider reported

 • September 2, 2022 3:10 pm

SHARE

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) and her multimillionaire husband, Paul Pelosi, saved hundreds of thousands of dollars by selling their shares in Nvidia about one month before the U.S. government placed restrictions on the tech company, causing its stock price to plummet.

In July, the Pelosis sold all 25,000 of their shares in Nvidia. On Aug. 26, the government ordered Nvidia to stop selling microchips in China and Russia without authorization, which could cost the company up to $400 million, CNBC reported on Wednesday. The day after CNBC's report, Nvidia's stock price was down nearly 12 percent, according to the Wall Street Journal.

By selling the shares before the news broke, the speaker and her husband saved around $600,000, according to multiple Twitter accounts that track the Pelosis' controversial stock trades.

Paul Pelosi has a long history of making "timely" purchases in companies that his wife has worked to subsidize, the Washington Free Beacon has reported. He purchased the Nvidia stock in June as the speaker oversaw a bill that would grant billions of dollars in subsidies that could benefit the company.

Internet stock traders often follow Nancy Pelosi's purchases and selloffs for investing tips, Business Insider reported, with some suggesting "she's making the big bucks off of insider information."

A Nancy Pelosi spokesman told Fox Business that Paul Pelosi does not speak to his wife about his stock trades until after he makes the trades.

While the speaker in February implied that she wouldn't oppose a congressional stock-trading ban, she appears "content to let" a ban "die behind the scenes," the Daily Beast reported.

"The people who control the calendar don't want to bring it to the floor," Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D., Va.) said.

The welcome was anything but warm for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Saturday night as she was booed on stage at the Global Citizen Festival after being introduced by Indian actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

Pelosi, 82, was attending the gathering in New York’s Central Park with husband Paul when Chopra Jonas invited her to appear before the crowd of music devotees.

The result was underwhelming for them both.

As Pelosi set out plans heading for Congress to tackle climate issues, members of the audience could be heard booing the veteran Democrat even as she expounded on carbon pollution and “climate change.”

“It’s thanks to your help that the United States recently enacted historic climate legislation, which will be a game changer,” Pelosi said as the jeers carried on, the New York Post reports.

“It will slash carbon pollution by 40 percent by 2030, it will give a historic, an historic $370 billion to fight the climate crisis.”

As the audience grew even more loud in its response, several hecklers are heard yelling “let’s go!” apparently looking for the evening’s entertainment to resume without a politician taking center stage.

The Post report added Pelosi tried to continue her speech, saying the bill would result in “better water and air for our children” as well as “better-paying jobs and lower energy bills for their parents.”

The California representative can also be heard calling for “better water and air for our children” and “better-paying jobs and lower energy bills for their parents.”

Mariah Carey, Metallica, The Jonas Brothers and Usher performed at the festival.

President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen also spoke at the event.

More People Leaving San Francisco Than Any Other Metro Area: Redfin

More people left the San Francisco metro area than any other metro area in the country in July and August, according to the real estate listing website Redfin, despite a downward trend in departing residents, due to falling prices of housing in the area.

SFGate.com reported:

The Bay Area leads the country in people planning to relocate despite an overall decline in those looking to leave from this time last year, which the report attributes to a recent drop in the area’s home prices. These numbers are determined by how many Redfin.com users were looking to leave an area compared to how many were looking to move in.

According to Redfin, 24.1% of its local users searched for properties outside of the Bay Area in July and August. Their top in-state destination is only a hop, skip and a jump along Interstate 80 away, in Sacramento. The top out-of-state destination for San Francisco home buyers is Seattle.

Droves of home buyers in places like the Bay Area, Los Angeles, New York City, Washington, D.C., and Boston are moving in favor of more affordable cities like Miami, Sacramento, San Diego, Las Vegas and Tampa.

San Francisco has suffered an exodus since before the pandemic, thanks to the high cost of living, and growing crime and homelessness. Ironically, then-Mayor Gavin Newsom, who is now California’s governor, promised in 2008 to end chronic homelessness within ten years.

Small-business owners have been hit Petty Thieves Plague San Francisco. ‘These Last Two Years Have Been Insane.’

https://www.wsj.com/articles/crime-san-francisco-petty-thieves-small-businesses-11647797642

By Zusha Elinson

SAN FRANCISCO— Terry Asten Bennett’s family has been running Cliff’s Variety Store since 1936. In all that time, they’ve never experienced the amount of burglaries and property damage that they have recently, Ms. Bennett said.

Thieves smashed a display window and broke down a door to steal items as small as spray paint, and people shattered glass doors on two occasions for no apparent reason.

“These last two years have been insane,” she said. “It used to be a rare occurrence.”

Although violent crime in San Francisco is lower than in many other major U.S. cities, business owners, residents and visitors here are dealing with a rash of thefts, burglaries and car break-ins.

Among the 25 largest U.S. cities, San Francisco has had the highest property-crime rate in four of the most recent six years for which data is available, bucking the long-term national decline in such crimes that began in the 1990s. Property crimes declined in San Francisco during the first year of the pandemic, but rose 13% in 2021. Burglaries in the city are at their highest levels since the mid-1990s. There were 20,663 thefts from vehicles last year—almost 57 a day—a 39% increase from the prior year, although still below the record of 31,398 in 2017, according to the police.

Smashed storefronts are so common that the city launched a program to fix them with public money. Car owners leave notes declaring there is nothing of value in their vehicles, or leave their windows open to save themselves from broken glass. Videos of shoplifters hauling goods out of drugstores such as Walgreens have gone viral, and a smash-and-grab robbery by 20 to 40 people at a Louis Vuitton store last November made the national news.

Owners of small businesses say the costs of security and repairs are eating into profits already diminished by the Covid-19 pandemic. In the Castro, the neighborhood where Cliff’s is located, shops have recorded nearly 100 instances of smashed windows and doors that cost $170,000 to repair since the beginning of 2020, according to the neighborhood’s merchant association.

Criminologists say San Francisco’s high density of retail stores and its mix of tourists, commuters and wealthy residents have made it an inviting target for thieves. Locals point to a host of other factors that may be exacerbating the problem, including the tactics of the police and prosecutors, statewide changes intended to reduce the number of people behind bars, and the city’s dual crises of drug use and homelessness. There has been no end of finger-pointing.

Despite the city’s long history of progressive politics, some business owners and residents are demanding that political leaders shift to a more law-and-order approach.

San Francisco’s mix of retail stores, tourists, commuters and wealthy residents have made it an inviting target. The Union Square retail district, top, and the Chinatown neighborhood.

District Attorney Chesa Boudin, who took office in 2020 as part of the national “progressive prosecutor” movement and has de-emphasized the prosecution of low-level offenses, will face a recall election in June.

“Nothing is more important than to make sure that people who live in this city, people who work in the city, people who visit San Francisco, feel safe,” Democratic Mayor London Breed said at a news conference last month. “The fact is, that does require police officers.”

Some former police officials and business owners blame Mr. Boudin’s focus on keeping people who commit small-scale crimes out of prison. His office, for example, discourages filing charges in cases where suspects are pulled over for traffic infractions and officers find small amounts of drugs. Others point the finger at the police, who cleared just 6% of the city’s property crimes in 2020, more than 8 percentage points lower than the national average. A case is considered cleared if a suspect is arrested, charged and turned over to a court for prosecution, or is identified with sufficient evidence for a charge but can’t be taken into custody for circumstances beyond police control.

Some business owners say the city’s large population of people living on the streets and using drugs such as fentanyl is a big factor in the small-scale thefts. Law-enforcement officials, though, say they suspect organized crews of petty criminals are carrying out a large portion of them.

Police Chief Bill Scott has deployed more officers to tourist spots such as Fisherman’s Wharf to stop car break ins, and to retail shopping districts to stop thefts and burglaries. He has beefed up his retail theft investigations unit.

Businesses have been affected in every corner of San Francisco, even traditionally low-crime areas such as the Sunset District, where commercial and residential burglaries rose 80% in between 2019 and 2021.

Michael Hsu’s Footprint shoe store got broken into for the first time in February 2021. The thief used a blowtorch to crack the glass door without setting off the alarm and took tens of thousands of dollars worth of high-end North Face jackets. More people arrived soon after, taking whatever they could grab before they set off the alarm.

Mr. Hsu, who grew up in the Sunset, said he recalled thinking: “Oh, they finally got me.”

Michael Hsu's shoe store in the Sunset neighborhood has been burglarized repeatedly.

He now keeps some merchandise locked with security cables.

He turned to a grant program for small businesses to fix his shattered storefront.

Security footage shows a thief using a blowtorch to crack the glass door at Footprint.

Michael Hsu

Mr. Hsu was the first recipient in the new grant program for small businesses to fix their storefronts. Three weeks later, his store was hit again, this time by a thief who climbed up scaffolding, broke in through a second-story window and made off with several boxes of shoes.

He now equips his employees with pepper spray and a key fob that calls the police directly. He upgraded his security system and is putting money aside for other antitheft measures.

The grant program has distributed more than $500,000 to nearly 400 businesses to fix their storefronts.

Sharky Laguana, who is president of the city’s small business commission and runs the van-rental company Bandago, said thieves frequently smash his vehicles’ windows and steal his customers’ belongings. “It gives customers a bad experience, it costs them a lot of money and it costs us a lot of money,” he said.

Police and prosecutors say the majority of car break-ins are committed by organized crews. Mr. Laguana grew so frustrated he launched a reward program for information that leads to busts of big fencing operations that buy merchandise from such thieves. He thought he would be able to raise tens of thousands of dollars at best; he got $250,000 in pledges from rental-car companies and other businesses.

The day after the Louis Vuitton smash-and-grab robbery, San Francisco police deployed a mobile command center that still sits across the street from the luxury-goods store. The department sent more foot patrols to the Union Square retail district, pulling officers from all over the city, said Captain Julian Ng who oversees the area.

“It’s a resource drain, but if I had my way, we’d do this forever because it’s such an important area for the city,” said Capt. Ng.

Police Capt. Julian Ng, top, on the street in Chinatown. Shattered auto glass in the parking lot of a popular tourist destination.

Five people were arrested in connection with the Louis Vuitton incident. Captain Ng said there are many reasons for the city’s overall low rate of clearing property-crime cases, including the department’s no-chase policy for misdemeanors and nonviolent felonies, which aims to reduce unnecessary accidents. Car break-in crews can easily zip away in their own vehicles without police cars chasing them, he said.

Some former police officials said in interviews that officers don’t feel it is worth making an arrest in low-level cases because they assume the district attorney won’t file charges. They also point to a statewide ballot measure passed in 2014—Proposition 47—that raised the dollar amount at which theft can be prosecuted as a felony from $400 to $950.

Mr. Boudin, a former public defender, said his office hasn’t changed the way it prosecutes property crimes from the previous district attorney, George Gascon, who is now district attorney in Los Angeles and facing his own recall campaign. The office’s rate of filing charges against people arrested for burglaries and thefts dipped to 41% in Mr. Boudin’s first year in office, but increased to 58% in 2021, similar to the rate during Mr. Gascon’s tenure.

Mr. Boudin has pointed the finger back at the police, arguing that the certainty of arrest is low in San Francisco compared with other cities. More consistent arrests of criminals, he has said, would be a more powerful deterrent than the length of prison sentences.

Last November, officers were caught on a surveillance camera sitting in a squad car, watching as burglars made off with stolen product from a cannabis dispensary. The department is investigating the incident.

Lt. Scott Ryan, who heads a unit that investigates property crimes, said clearance rates aren’t a good measure because police often nab serial offenders who they believe to be responsible for far more burglaries or thefts than they can prove.

He said consequences aren’t severe enough for repeat offenders. Police investigators have a list of 48 people arrested five or more times for burglaries in recent years, he said, and more than half of them are no longer behind bars. “There’s got to be a line in the sand,” he said.

In February, Ms. Bennett, the owner of Cliff’s Variety, received an email alert that angered her. The burglar who broke into her store to steal spray paint and gloves was being released from jail, it said.

Charles Andrews, who was convicted in the burglary, was getting out of jail after 244 days. It was the second time that Mr. Andrews had been arrested for breaking into Cliff’s, the first coming in 2017.

The other burglar, who smashed a $4,500 display window to steal a $200 emergency kit, was never caught.

Terry Asten Bennett, right, in front of her family-owned store, Cliff's Variety Store.

She said the store has been burglarized more than once by the same person.

Security footage shows a break-in at Cliff's Variety.

Terry Asten Bennett

A large TV displays the many security cameras throughout the store.

Sylvia Cediel, a public defender who represented Mr. Andrews, said his repeated arrests “reflect the circumstances of his life—primarily extreme poverty.” Mr. Andrews has been homeless since he came to the Bay Area more than a decade ago, she said, and his time in jail has been the only time he has spent off the streets. Ms Cediel said the city needs to do a better job addressing poverty and lack of housing.

Ms. Bennett said she believes the worsening drug problem within San Francisco’s homeless population has led to thefts and some of the property damage at Cliff’s. Last year, Mayor Breed declared a state of emergency because of overdoses in the city’s Tenderloin neighborhood.

In an effort to deter shoplifters, Ms. Bennett now stations employees at the door to greet customers. She installed a camera system and gave employees walkie-talkies so they could monitor shoplifters and confront them before they leave the store. Shoplifting losses have since dropped from 2% to 1% percent of annual sales, she said.

The increase in burglaries, which often involves breaking into closed shops, may be driven in part by emptier streets during the pandemic, police and criminologists say.

Ms. Bennett, whose great-great-grandfather Hilario DeBaca started the business, said the increase in crime hasn’t made her consider closing Cliff’s, which she said is woven into the neighborhood. But the break-ins are eating into the store’s bottom line.

New metal gates to protect the entrances plus repairs from the two burglaries and shattered door totaled about $22,000, less than half of which was covered by insurance, she said. She is applying to the city grant program to fix the most recently shattered door.

“When you’re a small-business owner, you spend more hours at work than at home, so you take it very personally when someone attacks you,” she said. “Whether it’s an attack on you or just your building, it really doesn’t matter. It feels the same.”

It's your message, Democrats

By Silvio Canto, Jr.

Yesterday, House speaker Nancy Pelosi said she does not understand where the lawlessness is coming from.  She was talking about all of those attack on shops in San Francisco.

Maybe Mrs. Pelosi finally noticed when the mob attacked her favorite places!

The mayor of San Francisco noticed the looting, too.  This is the story:

The mayor's plan includes a series of initiatives to implement a 180-degree reversal from blind compassion to "tough love." Outlined in a Medium post, Breed's proposals take aim at illegal drug sales and restore funding for police with targeted resources dedicated to the low-income Tenderloin neighborhood. The mayor calls for:

Executing an Emergency Intervention Plan in the Tenderloin neighborhood

Securing emergency police funding to ensure we have the resources to combat major safety problems over the next several

Amending our surveillance ordinance so law enforcement can prevent and interrupt crime in real time — something they're effectively barred from doing now — to better protect our homes and businesses

Disrupting the illegal street sales of stolen goods that have become a clear public safety issue and are contributing to retail theft

Well, at least the strategy is changing.  Let's hope it goes beyond talking points.

Why are Democrats suddenly talking about crime?

The answer is twofold:

First, this level of "lawlessness," as the speaker would say, is driving taxpayers away.  My guess is that it keeps a lot of people from driving downtown for dinner on a Saturday.  I was in a city in Maryland last summer and asked about Little Italy, a once-charming neighborhood for eating Italian food.  My friend said it was still there, but many people were afraid of going down in this atmosphere.

Second, the violence must be hurting Democrats with African-Americans and Hispanics, or the people who live in those areas, which may be both.  Check out Chicago and the weekend shootings.  It's hard to blame Trump when everyone running the city is a liberal Democrat.

Memo to Democrats: Let the police do their job, and you will see how quickly the "lawlessness" will disappear.

Pelosi Calls GOP ‘Commitment’ to Secure Border, Stop Crime, Curb Inflation an ‘Out of Touch’ MAGA ‘Extremist Agenda’

 By Craig Bannister | September 23, 2022 | 4:59pm EDT

On Thursday, Republicans unveiled a “Commitment to America” platform, which Democrat California House Speaker Nancy Pelosi denounced as a “whole-hearted commitment” to Make America Great Again (MAGA).

“Today’s rollout is the latest evidence of House Republicans’ whole-hearted Commitment to MAGA: going all-in on an extremist agenda designed to greatly diminish Americans’ health, freedom and security,” Pelosi said in a statement condemning Republicans’ commitment to stop violent crime, secure the border, tackle inflation and prevent illegal voting.

“But this extreme MAGA agenda is way out of step with Americans’ priorities, who align with Democrats’ vision of putting People Over Politics,” Pelosi says in her statement.

As Republican House Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy explains in a video, the nation is facing serious problems that require the attention of elected officials:

  • “Violent crime is at record highs in our streets and neighborhoods.”
  • “The border has become a national security crisis, with fentanyl killing our fellow citizens.”
  • “Soaring inflation has shrunk paychecks and sent us into a recession.”

Rep. McCarthy calls Republicans’ “Commitment” a “plan for an Economy that’s strong – where you can feed your family and fill up your tank” designed to make America “a nation that’s safe – where communities are protected by the police and criminals are prosecuted, a future that’s built on freedom where your children come first and are taught to dream big and a government that’s accountable where politicians don’t get special treatment.”

The full text of Pelosi’s statement is presented on Speaker Pelosi’s website.

Rep. McCarthy’s video is embedded below.

As Breitbart News pointed out, “the massive wave of new customers has helped spike the value of real estate, apartment rents, and the cost of new houses, especially in areas where well-to-do Americans flee from the arrival of diverse populations.”

“A 2017 report by the CATO Institute says the cost of illegal immigration could be reduced by cutting spending on border enforcement: ‘If the typical illegal immigrant increases the value of all housing unit prices by 11.5 cents, then illegal immigrants increase nationwide housing values by about $1 trillion,'” the report added.

Since inflation is currently the major issue for the American people, the Democrat Congress, with much fanfare and the usual self-congratulation, passed the “Inflation Reduction Act.”

Since, however, one is here talking about Congress, one should not assume that anything is what it is claimed to be.  No sooner was the bill passed than former Secretary of State and current “climate envoy” John Kerry, one of the D-Mass bunch, who purchased his massive seven bedroom carbon footprint mansion in the fake liberal “sanctuary destination” of Martha’s Vineyard in 2017, slipped up and told the truth to the International Energy Agency's Global Clean Energy Action Forum: “I'm not sure how much it has to do with inflation, but that's O.K.”

A University of Pennsylvania Wharton School study agrees, concluding that it has “low confidence the legislation will have any impact on inflation.”

The reason this deception is “O.K.” with Kerry is that the real purpose of the bill is to spend 375 billion taxpayer dollars on the Left’s “green new deal” agenda to “tackle” climate change and double the number of IRS agents to harass the remaining fraction of Americans that still have a job or small business.

The reason the bill was not titled “The Green New Deal Bill” is that the peasants would not have approved of spending 375 billion of their tax dollars on the economy-destroying left-wing religious cult’s climate agenda or doubling the number of IRS agents to harass them.   It was therefore necessary to pretend that Congress was actually passing a bill designed to improve the peasants’ lives.  Thus, the “Green New Deal and IRS Harassment Expansion” bill was renamed the “Inflation Reduction Act” in the hopes that enough of the “deplorables” would be fooled in order to minimize Democrat party losses in the November 2022 midterms.

The fact that the Inflation Reduction Act will very likely increase inflation does not concern our multi-million-dollar overlords in their massive carbon footprints in Martha’s Vineyard.

One might assume that the main story here is that Congress, which is supposedly to represent its constituents, deceived the American people by labeling a “green new deal” bill as an inflation reduction act.

But no, even that is not the real story here.

The real story is John Kerry’s casual statement that he is “O.K. with” the deception, that is, that he says the secret part out loud, that our Democrat-controlled congress is happy to deceive the peasants (the American people) as long as they get what they want: more money and power for themselves

Unfortunately, Congress deceiving the peasants is the rule, not the exception.

In 2014, an Obamacare “architect” and MIT economics professor, Jonathan Gruber, speaking, while laughing, to a university audience, many of whom also laughed, let the secret part slip out:

Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage. … [The] stupidity of the American voter … was really, really critical for [Obamacare] to pass.

That is, Obamacare would not pass if the peasants knew what was in it, specifically, that it is a large tax increase, and, therefore, it is lucky that the voters (American people) are so stupid.

Since MIT genius Gruber was himself stupid enough to make such remarks in front of many audiences, a tape recording found its way to the news media and he did, sort of, apologize, but he was really only sorry that he got caught.

Anyone who has become familiar with the ivy league and similar top universities, knows that the sense of superiority is so thick one can cut it with a knife, and also knows that Gruber’s contempt for the American people is quite common.  For example, Yale Ph.D. Uwe Reinhardt does not believe Gruber should have apologized because “stupid” was a poor choice of words and Gruber should have called the American voters “ignorant” instead.

“Obamacare,” one recalls, was sold to the peasants on grounds that it would decrease health care costs for an average family by $2,500 a year.

In fact, that was obvious before it was passed, with the aid of Obama’s 2013 Politifact “lie of the year” that “if you like your health care and your doctor you can keep your health care and your doctor, period,” but the stupid peasants were not permitted to disagree with the elitists’ storyline.

It is abundantly clear that the attitude of Democrats in Congress toward the American people is contempt.  They feel no obligation to inform the peasants accurately because they are not interested in their opinions.

One might reply that this criticism applies to both Democrat and Republican congressional representatives and this is true.  The Republicans, many of whom are actually closet Democrats, are not blameless, either. Liz Cheney, after all, said she might campaign for Democrats in the next election, and other Republicans are just weaklings.  Many Republicans sound quite promising around election time when they want your vote but cannot wait after they are elected to cave to their Democrat co-conspirators.  One of the other illuminating things Twain also says about Congress is that “fleas can be taught nearly anything that a congressman can,” and that is, to jump.  When congressmen of either party are approached by their donors or attacked by partisan leftist thugs, they forget the people who put them in office and jump as directed like frightened insects.

However, the Democrat-controlled Congress is what we have now.

The scale of the problem is far greater now than it was five or ten years ago.  Republicans are not very good, but at least they don’t seem as intent on destroying the United States while scoring massive profits for themselves.

One can debate why the problem is worse now than it has been in recent memory but part of the answer is clearly that the Democrats were so unhinged by Trump’s victory in 2016 that they decided that they must get what they want by any means necessary, whether fair of foul, which, as it turned out, was mostly foul.  Since Trump was not a part of their greedy incompetent elite club, he was a threat to their power and so the gloves came off.  Whatever the full reason, the current Democrat Congress see the American people as sheep that need to be herded into pens and controlled with threats and misinformation

Mark Twain gives an additional piece of advice about politicians:

No country can be well governed unless its citizens as a body keep religiously before their minds that they are the guardians of the law and that the law officers are only the machinery for its execution, nothing more.

Unfortunately, at present, our mostly corrupt and/or incompetent, some malevolent, Democrat “law officers,” who seem, unaccountably, to think very well of themselves, need to be taught a lesson for going so far Left.

When people vote in the November 2022 congressional elections, they need to keep in mind, not merely the series of failed Democrat policies or the appalling nihilist hypocrisy of the Democrat Congress and president.  They also need to keep firmly in mind how much contempt many Democrats have both for the United States and for traditional freedom-loving American patriots and how casually and cynically they manipulate and deceive them.

GOP Prepares For End Of ‘One Party Rule’ With ‘Commitment to America’

Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.) in Monongahela, Pa.

MONONGAHELA, Pa.—House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.) outlined on Friday a governing agenda of what voters can expect in 2023 and beyond should Republicans retake Congress this November.

McCarthy's remarks were part of the House Republicans' newly revealed "Commitment to America," a comprehensive policy pitch for voters in the lead up to the November midterms. That pitch contains bold policy goals related to border security, cutting spending, tackling inflation, and reversing several of President Joe Biden’s legislative victories.

"It's a one-party rule that we've had for two years that have led to the disaster that we're in right now." McCarthy said. "It's going to take the values of southwestern Pennsylvania in ‘Real America' to get us back on track. That's why we're here."

The policies McCarthy announced include ending the practice of "catch-and-release" for illegal immigrants, loosening regulations on domestic oil and gas production, repealing large portions of the Inflation Reduction Act, and slashing taxes.

"As we went across this country listening, we heard the same thing, at the kitchen table, the dining room table, and inside the factory. ‘Can I afford it? Can I afford to fill up my tank? Can I afford the food, the milk, the baby formula?’" McCarthy said at a warehouse outside of Pittsburgh on Friday morning. "We asked everybody across this country, ‘Could you afford to give up one month of your wages? One month?' The sad part is the Democratic Party has already taken one month of your wages."

McCarthy’s announcement of a future House Republican majority policy agenda was reminiscent of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s 1994 "Contract With America." That proposal, meant to show voters that Republicans were committed to governing in a way that was responsive to voter concerns, was revealed six weeks before Republicans retook the House for the first time in 40 years.

The event also revealed the party's strategy of returning to kitchen-table issues such as the economy, illegal immigration fueling the fentanyl crisis, and left-wing overreach in public schools. Polling shows voters trust Republicans on issues related to the border and inflation, and Republican members told the Free Beacon they were confident it will increase the likelihood of a red wave in November.

"You don't have to walk down the sidewalk to trip over one of Joe Biden's crises," said Rep. Kat Cammack (R., Fla.) at the Friday event. "You don't have to be highly political and involved to realize how bad things are in everyday America. Everything in this country has turned for the worse."

"I talked to Republicans, Democrats, independents, they don't care who broke it," Cammack said. "They want to fix it and Republicans are the only ones that have a plan to actually fix it."

Although situated thousands of miles away from the southern border, voters in Monongahela expressed concern about the border, which has seen more illegal crossings a day than at any other point in U.S. history. With all those illegal crossings comes a flood of fentanyl, which has been deadly for communities across the country. A local police officer who spoke with the Free Beacon said his county has seen 69 fentanyl overdoses in 2022, a near record with still three months left in the year.

"Every city in America is a border city, whether you're in Texas, Pennsylvania, like we are now or anywhere across the country," Rep. Tony Gonzales (R., Texas) told the Free Beacon. "We're all a border city. Fentanyl is killing everybody, regardless of the color of your skin or live in rural America or live in urban America. We’re at the forefront of these dangers in Texas, but your city is next."

Republicans emphasized that their agenda resulted in participation from nearly every member, rather than party leadership. A wide range of members attended the event, from Steve Scalise (R., La.) to Marjorie Taylor Greene (R., Ga.), signifying a unified party on the cusp of retaking Congress.

"At the end of the day, we have to provide some tangibles on what our plan is," Rep. Lisa McClain (R., Mich.) told the Free Beacon. "When I’m in my district, voters will say what the problems are but also ask me, ‘Lisa, what are you going to do about it?’ And that’s what today is about."

Deadly Democrats: The Crime Wave No One’s Talking About

The left-wing killing spree is out of control

Violent crime continues to rise across the United States, and Democratic politicians are struggling to defend their anti-law enforcement policies that have in some cases resulted in preventable deaths. This alarming crime wave has coincided with a marked increase in the number of Democratic donors, operatives, and elected officials (and other left-wing maniacs) arrested and charged with violent crimes.

Here are a few of the most notable Democratic Party officials and associates to be charged, prosecuted, or sentenced for violent crimes in 2022:

Sean Caddle, a longtime Democratic consultant in New Jersey, pleaded guilty in January to hiring two people to murder a former associate, Michael Galdieri, who was found stabbed to death in his apartment in May 2014. Caddle, a former aide to Democratic state senator Ray Lesniak, operated a network of shady super PACs that poured money into local races throughout New Jersey. He was also implicated in an ACORN-linked voter fraud scandal in Texas. Caddle was scheduled to be sentenced in June, but that hearing was postponed until December amid reports that the Democratic operative was cooperating with federal authorities.

Ed Buck received a 30-year sentence in April after the Democratic megadonor and prominent California activist was found guilty of luring two men to his home and injecting them with fatal doses of methamphetamine. Federal authorities alleged that Buck engaged in a "lethal and unchecked pattern of reckless disregard for human life" by soliciting victims for sex by promising to provide them with drugs. During the trial, Buck's victims described being administered a variety of drugs until they lost consciousness, at which point Buck sexually assaulted them. U.S. Attorney Tracy L. Wilkison applauded the sentence, noting that the Democratic donor "preyed upon vulnerable victims—men who were drug-dependent and often without homes—to feed an obsession that led to death and misery."

Ghislaine Maxwell, a longtime associate of Bill and Hillary Clinton who attended former first daughter Chelsea Clinton's wedding in 2010, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for sex-trafficking underage girls. Authorities alleged that Maxwell played an "instrumental" role in helping another Clinton associate, the late multimillionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, to acquire and abuse young girls for at least a decade. Epstein's former pilot testified at trial that former president Clinton made several trips on the pedophile's private jet, often referred to as the "Lolita Express."

Jerry Harris, the former Biden campaign surrogate and star of the Netflix documentary series Cheer, was sentenced in June to 12 years in federal prison for sex crimes involving minors. Several months after taking part in an Instagram Live discussion with Biden in June 2020, Harris was arrested for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy at a cheer competition and paying another underaged victim to send him sexually explicit photos and videos on Snapchat.

Alex Murdaugh was charged in July with killing his wife and son. The South Carolina attorney, who donated $2,800 to Joe Biden's presidential campaign in 2020, was already facing an array of charges involving financial fraud, money laundering, and drug trafficking. He has already admitted to stealing more than $4 million of settlement funds owed to the family of Gloria Satterfield, who worked as Murdaugh's housekeeper until her mysterious death in 2018. Murdaugh, who is being represented by fellow Biden supporter Dick Harpootlian, is also accused of hiring his cousin to kill him in a botched murder-for-hire scheme to ensure his surviving son Buster would collect on the family life insurance policy.

Nicholas Roske was charged in July for attempting to murder Supreme Court justice Brett Kavanaugh after being arrested outside the justice's home in Maryland with a knife, pepper spray, and burglary tools, as well as a handgun and 37 rounds of ammunition. Roske told authorities he was motivated in part by the leak of a draft Supreme Court opinion overturning the landmark abortion case Roe v. Wade. Additional evidence suggested Roske sought to murder two other conservative justices in a bid to alter the High Court "for decades." The incident occurred several weeks after a New York Times opinion writer urged pro-abortion activists to escalate their efforts to intimidate Kavanaugh in public.

Robert Telles, a local Democratic official in Las Vegas, was charged earlier this month with the murder of investigative journalist Jeff German. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter was found stabbed to death outside his home on Sept. 3. German had written a series of stories about Telles's conduct in office—including allegations of corruption, bullying, and an extramarital affair—that resulted in Telles losing the Democratic primary for Clark County public administrator in June. Prosecutors have described the crime as "willful, deliberate, and premeditated," accusing Telles of "lying in wait" outside German's home before stabbing the 69-year-old journalist at least seven times and leaving him to die.

Shannon Brandt, a deranged liberal from North Dakota, was released on bail last week after he admitted to killing an 18-year-old with his car following a "political argument." Brandt told police he believed the victim, Cayler Ellingson, was "part of a Republican extremist group." The incident occurred several weeks after President Joe Biden delivered a menacing speech, ostensibly about national unity, in which he accused the Republican Party and its supporters of "destroying American democracy."

Fetterman Gave Nod to Crips Street Gang During Mayoral Campaign

As a mayoral candidate in 2005, Senate hopeful John Fetterman adopted a unique tactic to appeal to the youth of Braddock, Pa.: tout the borough’s connections to the notorious Crips street gang. After his election, he downplayed the gang’s prevalence in his town, and attributed some of their gang activity to the acts of "disenfranchised" and "disenchanted" youth.

During his first mayoral run in 2005, Fetterman adopted the slogan "Vote John Mayor of Braddocc," a nod to the spelling that local Crips gang members used for the town. After he was elected, Fetterman created the website Braddocc.com as part of a revitalization project to appeal to young people in the dilapidated steel town. The now-defunct website, which Fetterman launched with his own money, explains that "Braddocc" was "unofficially renamed" by the "young and disenfranchised for its Crip allegiance." The Justice Department considers the Crips, founded in southern California in the 1970s, to be one of the country’s most violent street gangs.

Fetterman, the Pennsylvania lieutenant governor, has come under fire during his Senate bid for his progressive views on criminal justice reform. Republicans have portrayed Fetterman as soft on crime for calling for the release of up to one-third of Pennsylvania’s prison inmates. As chairman of Pennsylvania’s Board of Pardons, Fetterman cast the lone vote to free several people convicted of first-degree murder. His appointee for secretary of the board has called to "disarm the police," and has referred to cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal as her "friend" and "buddy," the Washington Free Beacon reported.

Fetterman has denied that he glorifies the Crips or gang culture, though he has acknowledged that his embrace of the "Braddocc" nickname helped him in his 2005 campaign by attracting younger voters.

"Ultimately I carry their flag, because they’re the ones that made the difference that I won by one vote that first election," he said in 2015. "It’s not a glorification of gang violence, or embracing gang violence," he added of the "Braddocc" moniker, noting that he "caught some flak … because some people thought I was spelling it like a gangster."

While Fetterman promoted Crips lingo, he downplayed the gang’s presence in Braddock after his election win. In 2006, he said gang graffiti that appeared on buildings in the borough were the act of "a disenfranchised young person who is disaffected and has few options."

"You have ‘C'z Up' and ‘Ghuttacide,' but at the end of the day it's not a movement; it's not a reflection of what's going on. One shouldn't make the erroneous assumption that it's some kind of movement, some kind of criminal element," he told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in 2006.

Fetterman said punishing the teens behind the graffiti was not an ideal remedy and that the graffiti "appears more fearsome than it is."

But Crips were active in Braddock during Fetterman’s tenure as mayor.

Members of the gang appeared in a video from the late-2000s discussing their life in Braddock, promoting their music with the Braddock-based "Geto Bred Entertainment," and warning rivals against "snitching" to police. The video, which also employs the "Braddocc" moniker, shows gang members rapping in front of graffiti that bears the "C’z Up" and "Ghuttacide" tags that Fetterman discussed with the Post-Gazette.

Fetterman's campaign denies that Fetterman has any affinity for the Crips.

"The notion that John Fetterman has any affinity for the crips is complete and utter bullshit," Fetterman's communications director Joe Calvello told the Free Beacon. "Under John, crips in Braddock were taken off the street and put in jail."

Fetterman’s nod to the Crips can still be found at his loft in Braddock, where a city sign emblazoned with the gang’s graffiti hangs above his refrigerator. The New York Times photographed Fetterman in front of the sign for a 2011 profile. Fetterman’s wife posted a photo to social media in 2020 with the sign in the background.
