A new generation of insufferable celebrity activists takes the reins
What is the consequence of taking a bunch of high school dropouts, paying them millions of dollars for performing tasks that most civilizations delegated to the lowest dregs, and surrounding them 24/7 with a lapdog press and fan base?
Celebrity activists.
I had to grow up with Alec Baldwin, Susan Sarandon, Sean Penn, and their ilk lecturing me about how I should vote, speak, and think. Gratefully, Team America: World Police summated their eminent vacuity better than I ever could. Matt Daaaaamon. But we now have a new generation of celebrity activists, whose arrogance is matched only by their lack of authority. Here is a brief sampling:
JENNIFER LAWRENCE
Jennifer dropped out of school at age fourteen and never pursued her GED, calling herself “self-educated”. It shows. Her parents gave up their own careers and zigzagged the country to support her. In an overwhelming spirit of generous reciprocity, she “worked so hard” to “forgive” her father for his conservative political views. My, that’s big of her. She also has nightmares about Tucker Carlson.
She threw a staged tantrum some years back about her male co-stars Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper in American Hustle raking in $2.5 million each while she was left with a paltry $1.25 million. Poor girl. And those Hmong sweatshop children thought they had it bad. But here’s where her middle school math skills could have been put to use. She worked only 19 days on the film, whereas Bale and Cooper worked 45 days and 46 days, respectively. When broken down per day, Lawrence actually earned more than the men. Equal pay for equal work? How about equal work for equal pay.
SETH ROGEN
Seth isn’t one to quit. Unlike Jennifer, the Amazing Beta hung on in high school all the way until age sixteen before dropping out. But beyond that, he’s an unimpressive mess of leftist contradictions: He’s a Canadian-American who disdains America, a Jew who detests Israel, and a multi-millionaire who embraces socialism. He doesn’t need a therapist, he needs a team.
He handles dissenting opinion not by making rational arguments, but by throwing around the F-bomb from the safety of Twitter. Once, when approached by Paul Ryan’s children for a picture, he refused and used the occasion to rant at Ryan, in front of his kids, about politics. Stay classy, Seth.
BILLIE EILISH
If Greta Thunberg and Marilyn Manson had an unaborted child, it would be Billie. But she has an act, and it sells. She swears capriciously (ooh!), doesn’t follow the rules (oooh!), and isn’t afraid to take on The Man (OOOOH!). Never mind that it’s just an exhumed carcass of the 1990’s Reznoresque self-pity masked as rebellion against tradition. She’s perfected that obnoxious “teen angst” facial expression, which is as calculated and marketed as Mark Zuckerberg’s “untucked-shirt-everyday-Joe” facade. Her interviewers lap it all up with shameless sycophancy.
But there’s nothing more antithetical to genuine rebelliousness than bland predictability. And Billie is nothing if not blandly predictable. If you want to know what Billie will say next month, listen to what NPR said last month. Her ruminations are as shallow as a puddle of green hair dye, and her political stances reflect the knee-jerk yard sign philosophies one would expect from someone who was homeschooled by parents who are “actors” who support themselves with a “mix of jobs” (and if that’s the logic, then I’m an “astronaut” who supports myself with a “mix of jobs”).
MARK RUFFALO
Mark is the leader of this highbrowed pack, having actually graduated high school! He then spent ten years tending bar and honing his talking points about why we should listen to him regarding abortion, hiring white people, fracking, and Kyle Rittenhouse. He cited antiracism as his justification for joining antisemite Roger Waters to support the candidacy of antisemite Jeremy Corbyn. And despite netting himself $35 million, he insists that capitalism is ”killing us”.
He claims he was put on Pennsylvania’s terrorist watchlist (spoiler alert: he wasn’t) because of his opposition to drilling. And he’s a 9/11 conspiracy theorist. “Buildings don’t fall down like that,” the former bartender informed us.
Hi Mark, I’m Earth, have we met?
EMILY RATAJKOWSKI
Like the ogling hordes of groping cavemen she (rightfully) opposes, Emily wants all the perks of the Sexual Revolution without any of the consequences. Her incoherent ramblings about “sexual empowerment” redefine the concept of tediousness, and not in a good way. Emily is eye candy posing as a martyr, a depthless materialist desperately searching for meaning and identity. There are hundreds of millions of women worldwide bleeding under the scimitar of systemic oppression, but fighting for them would take actual courage (I can’t find a peep from her regarding the ongoing Iranian protests). Emily plays it safe, reenacting battles that actual feminists fought and won decades ago.
It’s convenient that Emily’s elusive definition of feminism just happens to rake her millions of dollars. She bemoans societal expectations of female sexuality, but apparently not enough to turn down cover shoots and “hottest women” rankings in Maxim, FHM, Vogue, Allure, GQ, Rolling Stone, and all the rest. She complains that she’s been pigeonholed as a “sex symbol” and can’t land a serious role in Hollywood. Right, because Ryan Reynolds and Channing Tatum are getting them all. Other leftists rightly call her out for her highly profitable posturing.
Bonus: Emily doesn’t “believe in straight people”, she justifies the existence of ISIS, and thinks every drug should be legalized.
LEONARDO DICAPRIO
Leonardo leaves quite the carbon footprint. He vacations on $110 million superyachts, which uses more gas in seven miles than your car does in a year. He travels by private jet. He currently owns homes (many labeled “retreats” but are more like compounds) in Manhattan, Hollywood Hills, Palm Springs, Malibu beach, Los Feliz, and Beverly Hills. Not exactly the most committed stylite.
Like most people, I have no qualms with Leonardo’s wealth, extravagance, or spending habits. For someone who dropped out of high school (are you noticing a pattern?), he in many ways embodies the rags-to-riches American dream so often derided by those he votes for. But his incessant sermonizing about “climate change” to the flyover country truckers and Appalachia miners barely scraping by repels would-be converts in its belittling conceit.
This sampling is the tip of the unmelted iceberg. Leonardo’s climate change schtick, like most celebrity faux concerns, rings hypocritical to rational people. Their not-so-veiled message is this: You fly coach, in its current degeneration into a UFC fight on an airborne pet store. You take the subway to work, if you don’t first get pushed onto the tracks. You send your kids to pedophilic public schools. You wear the COVID masks. You take in busloads of illegals. But not us.
What’s telling is that they don’t find it hypocritical. At least the 1980’s televangelists knew enough to go through the motions of public repentance when caught in a seedy motel with a prostitute. But our celebrities see no contradiction in behaving in ways they forbid us. Like Politburo “comrades”, they consider themselves an intellectual vanguard of sorts. And with this status, they sincerely believe they’re entitled to extralegal rights and liberties not afforded the lower castes. This is the literal definition of “privilege”.
But not since Caligula Caesar has there been such celebrated hedonism and lack of competence coupled with such undeserved influence. Their “talent” doesn’t extend beyond the proclivity of grown adults to don costumes and play pretend for the cameras. None of these bejeweled apes could survive, much less win, a formal stage debate, which is why they scurry off to social media where they know dissenting opinion will be blocked, censored, or shouted down.
They owe their good fortune not to ability or education, but to the freak accident of being born at the right place at the right time, during the height of convergence of the Big Screen and the Internet in amplifying the meritless, in probably the only country worldwide whose moral corruption and crumbling self-respect could produce a chasm wide enough to allow such cretins to make bank with their mediocre juggling. That the woke Hollywood/Disney/MSM triumvirate keeps bleeding money and public trust has yet to instill them with any sense of humility.
We have no obligation to endure their nonsense, and the default mode of mature adults is to just ignore them. But narcissistic cult members respond to lack of attention by shrieking that much louder. So the bad news is neither they nor their tweeted ignorance is going away anytime soon. The good news is Elon Musk.

““We cannot outsource our independence,” the president said last Monday. “We cannot be reliant on foreign nations. I’ve been saying this for a long time. If we’ve learned one thing it’s let’s do it here, let’s build it here, let’s make it here.”
“Made in China” has been a familiar label on products for years but it wasn’t until March of 2020 that Americans learned of the perils that might entail. China threatened to impose export controls on pharmaceuticals that would plunge America into “the mighty sea of coronavirus.”
Sen. Marco Rubio told reporters the United States was “dangerously reliant” on China for critical goods, including parts for technologies needed to fight COVID-19. Since 2004, Chinese pharmaceutical companies have been supplying 80-90 percent of U.S. antibiotics. Americans might wonder how they landed in such a dependent position, and that invites a comparison with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
The world’s first socialist state, established in the world’s largest nation, never produced a single product the West wanted or needed. For all its vast natural resources, the USSR was an economic basket case, and by the mid-1980s in serious trouble.
Suppose that some U.S. senator had then offered a trade deal that ignored the regime’s human rights violations and allowed state-owned Soviet companies to manufacture goods for the American market, all marked “Made In the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.” These would include vital pharmaceuticals and the deal would allow the use of Soviet steel, and Soviet labor, in major infrastructure projects in the United States.

On a visit to Shanghai in 2006 Feinstein told James Areddy of the Wall Street Journal, “I’ve been coming to China for 31 years, so I’m not a newcomer.” That would put her first visit in 1975, one year before the death of the Great Helmsman Mao Zedong his own self. Feinstein was then a San Francisco supervisor, and as mayor struck up a sister-city relationship with Shanghai. On the 2006 trip Feinstein spent time with former Shanghai mayor Zhu Rongji, “a good friend.”
Areddy asked about the Tiananmen Square massacre then turning 21. Feinstein said it was a “a great setback for China in the view of the world,” a public-relations problem for China, not a human rights issue. “It was just the PLA (People’s Liberation Army)” and China “learned lessons from it.” Still, Feinstein admitted, “we did not discuss it.”
As Ben Weingarten noted in the Federalist in 2018, Sen. Feinstein’s ties to China are “way deeper” than any Chinese spy in her office. Feinstein maintained a “strictly apologist line” on China’s human rights atrocities, and Feinstein’s husband has “profited handsomely” during her career in the Senate. Sen. Feinstein “served as a key intermediary between China and the U.S. government, while serving on committees whose work would be of keen interest to the PRC.” For two decades and three election cycles, Feinstein harbored a Chinese spy who fed “political intelligence” to Beijing’s Communist regime. Since that article, the dossier has grown longer.
As Rosemarie Ho noted in The Nation, Dianne Feinstein failed to support the democracy protesters in Hong Kong. When the coronavirus hit these shores, Feinstein was uncritical of China and one of the first to cry “racism” against those who pointed out the pandemic’s origin in Wuhan, China.
Ben Weingarten wondered how a motivated and empowered prosecutor would operate if tasked to explore “any links and/or coordination” between the Chinese government, Feinstein and individuals associated with her office. Such an investigation never took place with Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the most servile apologist of Communist China since Anna Louise Strong, and certainly the most influential. On the other hand, Donald Trump was thoroughly investigated for “collusion” with Russia, which turned out to be a hoax.
It was the president’s tweet that brought Feinstein’s Chinese spy to public attention. President Trump has access to all U.S. intelligence, a major reason domestic and foreign foes alike are desperately trying to remove him from office. In his April 19 press conference, the president called the upper reaches of the DOJ and FBI “human scum,” and their inattention to Feinstein, Hillary Clinton and other high-profile Democrats confirms that the rot continues.
President Trump is now throwing down with the invisible enemy of coronavirus and making progress despite opposition from Democrats and their media allies. As they parrot Chinese propaganda, the president has already started the decoupling process.

Hunter has reportedly sold five paintings worth $75,000 each to an anonymous buyer. Hunter’s art dealer, Georges Bergès, has previously boasted he had strong ties to businessmen in Communist China, which has concerned many due to the Biden family’s business ventures abroad.
“We are 95% sure that that artwork went to China,” Comer said. “We don’t know where exactly that went to in China, but we’re going to try to find out when we get subpoena power.”

A hefty chapter of Red-Handed is devoted to tracking Feinstein’s long and expensive relationship with Communist China. The senator has made herself very, very useful to Beijing — so useful that she actually tried to excuse the Tiananmen Square massacre by suggesting China only called in combat troops to murder thousands of demonstrators because it ran out of cops.

In a total coincidence that could not possibly have been related in any way to Feinstein’s friendship with the tyrants of Beijing, her husband did a great deal of lucrative business with Chinese companies, including entities run by the Communist government and linked to the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
One of those deals saw Blum becoming a major investor in a computer company that was founded by researchers from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), an institution tied to both the Chinese government and the PLA. The company was originally called Legend, but is better known by its second name, Lenovo.

Lenovo grew into a major player in the worldwide computer marketplace after it acquired IBM’s line of personal computer products in 2005. Lenovo’s deal to buy IBM’s business included $350 million in investments from three American private equity firms. One of them was Richard Blum’s Newbridge Capital.
Some lawmakers worried Lenovo’s purchase of IBM’s personal computer line could jeopardize U.S. national security and transfer advanced American computer technology to China. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, who sat on the Senate Intelligence Committee at the time, was not one of them.
It did not take long for security agencies across the Western world — including the U.S., U.K., Canada, New Zealand, and Australia — to discover security vulnerabilities in Lenovo products and ban them from sensitive operations. The U.S. State Department announced it would not allow Lenovo computers to connect to its classified networks in 2006, barely a year after the IBM acquisition.
Somehow Lenovo still managed to sell a large number of laptop computers to the U.S. military, which discovered that many of those machines included motherboard chips that “would record all the data that was being inputted into that laptop and send it back to China,” as a computer operations manager for the U.S. Marines in Iraq put it.
A year after that testimony was delivered, Blum sold his stake in Lenovo.

The Pentagon released an audit in 2019 that found the Department of Defense (DoD) still has not formally banned computers from Lenovo, now the largest personal computer company in China, even though the Department of Homeland Security and the Joint Chiefs of Staff Intelligence Directorate have both identified the machines as cyberespionage risks. The U.S. Air Force purchased 1,378 Lenovo products worth $1.9 million as recently as 2018.

· News of a Chinese spy working for U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein broke recently, revealing the spy was employed by Feinstein for 20 years.
· Initially reported as part of a larger story about spies in Silicon Valley, a former intelligence official later revealed that the staffer was Feinstein’s driver for many years.
· The source told the San Francisco Chronicle that the driver passed information to Chinese officials based at the local Chinese Consulate. Part of the staffer’s role was acting as a liaison between Feinstein’s San Francisco office and the local consulate.
· The staffer was recruited to spy after visiting China.
· The staffer, who has not been named, worked for Feinstein for 20 years.

Senator Feinstein was alerted to the spy about five years ago. The FBI alerted Feinstein after investigating and finding the staffer shared nothing of substance.
· “They interviewed him, and Dianne forced him to retire, and that was the end of it,” the source said. “None of her staff ever knew what was going on. They just kept it quiet.”
· Feinstein wouldn’t comment on the spy but her office told CBS that none of the staffers in San Francisco have ever had security clearances.

· Feinstein’s Relationship With China
· Some details of Feinstein’s past are now being examined anew, centered on her close relationship with China, beginning with her service as mayor of San Francisco from 1978 to 1988.
· Feinstein has long been linked to China. For instance, she hosted former president of China Jiang Zemin at her home for dinner when she was mayor of San Francisco, and celebrated the resumption of air service from China to the United States (starting with San Francisco International Airport) after a 32-year hiatus.
· San Francisco and Shanghai have been sister cities for 38 years, after the agreement was put into place by Feinstein and Jiang, who was then Shanghai’s mayor. Feinstein was cited as having a “close relationship” with Jiang and ties between the two continued for many years later.
· Jiang is infamous for cracking down on human rights, most notoriously by banning the peaceful meditation practice of Falun Gong and throwing many of its estimated 100 million adherents into jail.

· Under Jiang, torture, rape, murder, and even organ harvesting from detained practitioners became common.
· To help facilitate the relationship between the U.S. and China, Feinstein asked organizers of the city’s popular Chinese New Year Parade to stop displaying the flag of the Nationalist Chinese government, which ruled in exile in Taiwan after 1949.
· Feinstein also defended China, despite its communist policies, insisting that it was merely “socialist.”
· “There was originally this kind of anti-communist view of China,” Feinstein told the Washington Post. “That’s changing. . . . China is a socialist country but one that is increasingly becoming capitalistic.”
· Husband Becomes Prominent Investor in China
· Several articles from the 90s explore the development of not only Feinstein’s developing relationship with China while she was mayor, but her husband’s burgeoning investments there.
· According to the Los Angeles Times, in 1997 Feinstein’s husband Richard Blum, who invests his own and clients’ money into undervalued firms, expanded his business investments into the communist nation to the point that “his firm is now a prominent investor” there.
· In 1992, the investments amounted to one project worth less than $500,000. Two years later he was planning to invest up to $150 million and two years after that a Blum investment firm paid $23 million for a stake in a Chinese government-owned steel company.
· Another investment by Blum’s firm was helped by the International Finance Corp., an arm of the World Bank, which invested $10 million in the leading producers of soybean milk and candy in China.

· “It seems to be going quite well,” Rashad Kaldan—who in 1994 managed the IFC’s capital markets investments in Asia—told the Times of the project. He added: “There also was some comfort in that Mr. Blum had some contacts with the Chinese.”
· Blum said that his interest in China went back many years, predating political connections. He won permission from the Chinese in 1981 to climb the east face of Mt. Everest and called himself a close friend of the Dalai Lama, the exiled Tibetan leader who the Chinese government opposes.
· In dispatches written for the San Francisco Examiner, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, Blum said that a goodwill visit to China by Feinstein in 1979 helped him win permission to climb Everest.
· “We had come to build goodwill, promote trade and to make new friends,” Blum wrote in one story, adding, “but I asked for and received permission to have another kind of meeting—one with the Chinese Mountaineering Association.”

· Feinstein took three trips between 1995 and 1997 to China, in addition to trips earlier in her mayoral service, to meet with top communist officials, including Jiang. Blum often attended the meetings with her, an arrangement the Times described as “unusual.”
· At one time, the couple had dinner at Zhongnanhai, the enclave reserved for the president and other top officials in China.
· “We had dinner in Zhongnanhai in Mao Tse-tung’s old residence in the room where he died. We were told that we were the first foreigners to see his bedroom and the swimming pool. It was a very historic moment to see some of these things,” told the Los Angeles Times. Mao was the communist leader of China whose policies led to the deaths of tens of millions of Chinese people.
· Feinstein insisted that Blum had never spoken to officials during meetings about business.
· “I am open to any suggestion as to how I can even make a firewall more fireproof,” she said. “I don’t know what else I can do. . . . Either he retires or I suppose we end our marriage.”
