Ron DeSantis to Announce 2024 Candidacy During Conversation with Elon Musk on Twitter - AS ILLEGALS POUR OVER THE BORDER TO VOTE FOR BIDEN

According to DeSantis’ office, the legislation:

Requires private employers with 25 or more employees to use the E-Verify system to verify the employment eligibility of newly hired employees, fines employers who fail to use E-Verify $1,000 per day, and suspends the licenses of such private employers until they come back into compliance.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is expected to announce his 2024 presidential candidacy during a conversation with Elon Musk on Twitter Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. Eastern, sources familiar with the plans confirmed to Breitbart News.

The source familiar confirmed Wednesday’s Fox News report detailing the governor’s plans to formally jump into the 2024 presidential race after months of speculation. DeSantis is also slated to officially file paperwork with the Federal Election Commission, per the confirmed report.

The governor’s wife, Casey DeSantis, also teased the announcement, sharing the Fox News article with the caption, “Big if true…”

This forthcoming announcement follows months of speculation and the governor playing it coy, refusing to wholly reveal his political intentions after continued inquiries from various news outlets. Initial rumors indicated the governor would not consider announcing until after the Florida legislature’s legislative session, which ended May 5. In the following weeks, DeSantis signed a series of legislation addressing woke transgender ideology being pushed upon children, as well as bills combatting illegal immigration and eliminating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives in higher education.

Wednesday’s announcement will also come months after former President Donald Trump began a consistent series of preemptive strikes on the governor, which DeSantis has refused to fully address, often failing to speak of the former president by name despite their once-amicable relationship. Trump has since awarded him the nickname Ron “DeSanctimonious” and has deemed the governor “unelectable” and a “liddle’” lightweight.

All of this could help explain why NAACP’s board chairman Leon Russell lives in Tampa Bay, and why at least five of his colleagues have traveled to Florida for vacation since DeSantis was first elected in 2018.

than their counterparts in other states.

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People last week cautioned black Americans to stay out of Florida, claiming that the state’s "openly hostile" policies put them at risk. But a Washington Free Beacon review found that minorities are far more likely to be the victims of hate crimes in liberal states like California.

The NAACP's "travel advisory" does not cite any

figures, which show that black Floridians enjoy

lower unemployment, higher median incomes, and

lower rates of both hate crimes and police killings

than their counterparts in other states. Instead, the

group cites Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis's (R.)

"aggressive attempts to erase Black history and to

restrict diversity, equity, and inclusion programs in

Florida schools," particularly a bill that prevents

public schools from offering AP African American

Studies courses.

Left-wing activist groups have warned minorities against traveling to the Sunshine State in response to DeSantis’s educational reforms. The NAACP’s travel advisory comes after the League of United Latin American Citizens and the gay rights group Equality Florida issued similar warnings, the New York Times reported.

These warnings paint a much grimmer picture than

the reality of life in Florida. Black unemployment

in the state stood at 3.8 percent by the end of 2022,

far lower than the national average of 6.1 percent,

or California’s of 7.5 percent. Florida is second in

the country for the most minority-owned

businesses, which may explain why median black

family income is higher there than the national

average or blue states such as Illinois.

Those economic facts may also explain why Florida has one of the largest black populations in the country—and why it has grown from 1.9 million to 3.2 million in the last 30 years. That's much different from the troubling picture the NAACP paints in its advisory, which claims "Florida is openly hostile toward African Americans, people of color and LGBTQ+ individuals."

The NAACP warns black travelers to "be aware of the open hostility towards African Americans and people of color" in Florida. But blacks have enjoyed a higher degree of safety there than elsewhere. Florida law enforcement recorded 127 hate crimes in 2020, compared with 1,537 in California and 466 in New York.

Three years into DeSantis’s first term as governor, the state saw a significantly lower amount of hate crimes than California. The reported hate crime rate in Florida was 0.6 per 100,000 people, according to the FBI, and 3.1 per 100,000 people in California.

There is also evidence that blacks are far less likely to be killed by police in Florida than California or Washington, D.C. A 2019 study published in science journal The Lancet concluded that the black mortality rate due to police violence was lower than California, Oregon, Colorado, Delaware, the District of Columbia, and others.

DeSantis's two successful gubernatorial campaigns

can be in part attributed to his success with black

voters. In both 2018 and 2022, DeSantis saw

double-digit support from the black community, far

higher than typical for a Republican candidate.

All of this could help explain why NAACP’s board chairman Leon Russell lives in Tampa Bay, and why at least five of his colleagues have traveled to Florida for vacation since DeSantis was first elected in 2018.

Neither Russell nor the NAACP responded to a request for comment.

Joe Biden, the Habitual Racialist Demagogue

When you need to first heal your own racism - before you fabricate it in others.

The most recent liberal ABC News/Washington Post poll showed President Joe Biden’s approval rating at 36 percent – the lowest in history for a president at this point in his first term.

Biden’s low popularity is no mystery.

He inherited energy independence, affordable gas prices, historically low interest rates, low inflation, calm overseas, a low crime rate, and a largely closed border with legal-only immigration.

And then Biden destroyed that inheritance.

He has begged illiberal foreign governments to pump oil he refuses to drill domestically for.

He spiked inflation at the highest rate in over 40 years.

Home interest rates have skyrocketed from less than 3% to 7%.

He nearly doubled the price of gasoline.

His hare-brained retreat from Afghanistan marked the greatest humiliation of the American military in the last half-century.

Kabul is now selling billions of dollars’ worth of abandoned American equipment to terrorists and anti-American regimes.

After that fiasco, Biden foolhardily played down a possible “minor” Russia invasion of Ukraine. He implored Russia to exempt some American institutions from its cyber-attack target list.

No wonder an empowered Russian President Vladimir Putin went into Ukraine.

Biden’s family is corrupt from top to bottom.

Its influence peddling schemes increasingly are targets of congressional investigations. Biden himself is explicitly mentioned by his son Hunter as the recipient of a 10% commission on monies the family syndicate leveraged from foreign interests.

Biden promised “unity.” Instead, he habitually smears half the country as “semi-fascists” and “ultra-MAGA” extremists.

Biden is cognitively challenged and often incoherent. And he is now losing support in the polls from African Americans, once his most loyal constituency.

In response, Biden does what he has always done for some 40 years: mouth wild racist demagoguery.

This graduation season, Biden deliberately chose Howard University to scare its Black graduates into believing the greatest threat to their aspirations is “white supremacy” – but that he, Biden, has been their protector in fighting it.

Note the existential threats Biden deliberately omits.

Tens of thousands of illegal immigrants are flooding over a border Biden deliberately destroyed. Millions of incoming poor will vie for limited federal and state support with Americans who are in need.

Since Biden was elected, there have been nearly 7 million illegal entries.

Some 100,000 Americans now die each year from Mexican-produced fentanyl and other opioids shipped across a wide-open border.

Biden did not mention that nearly 10,000 African Americans are murdered each year, over 90% of them killed by other African Americans.

Biden first should heal his own racism before he fabricates it in others.

He fueled his early Senate career with homages to southern Democratic segregationists such as Senator James O. Eastland, D-Miss. Biden even bragged that Eastland “never called me ‘boy.'” Biden gave eulogies for former Dixiecrat Sen. Strom Thurmond and former Klansman Sen. Robert Byrd.

Of school busing, a younger Senator Biden thundered, “My children are going to grow up in a jungle, the jungle being a racial jungle.”

Biden in 2008 patronized former President Barack Obama in racist terms as “the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.”

In 2012, Biden condescended to a group of accomplished Black professionals that the Republican presidential nominee, Mitt Romney, would “put y’all back in chains.”

As a presidential candidate in 2020, he dismissed two Black journalists, respectively with the putdowns “you ain’t Black” and “junkie.”

His fabricated “Corn Pop” he-man autobiographical tales are utterly racist.

As president he has referred to two prominent people of color as “boy.” He still uses the term “Negro” to refer to Blacks.

Biden never cites data to support his wild accusations that white supremacy poses the nation’s greatest threat.

The 2020 riots, the lengthiest in our history, left up to 40 people dead, destroyed $2 billion in property, led to 14,000 arrests, spanned 120 days of mass looting, and arson, and saw mobs torching police precincts, federal courthouses, and a historic church.

That violence was engineered by radicals in Antifa and Black Lives Matter.

In the January 6 Capitol protests, the only person confirmed to have been killed at that event was an unarmed military veteran and Trump supporter, Ashli Babbitt. She was fatally shot by a Capitol police officer for the misdemeanor of attempting to enter through a broken window.

If “white supremacy” is our “greatest” terrorist threat, surely crime statistics would reveal such an existential peril.

Yet federal hate – and interracial-crime data show that so-called whites are considerably unrepresented demographically in such racially motivated violence.

Far from galvanizing the public, Biden’s monotonous racial demagoguery is turning it off.

The military suffers a vast drop in enlistments that began once Biden’s Pentagon brass, without evidence, likewise began demagoguing about supposed “white rage” in the ranks.

Only 37% of independents in a recent poll now support Biden. Some 70% of the public in other polls opposes a second Biden run.

So on spec, a panicked Biden now turns to what he has done for decades – inflammatory racial demagoguery.

The Democratic Party’s enthusiasm for new immigrants is pushing their African-American supporters out the back door, according to a Democratic African-American legislator in the Georgia House of Representatives.

“Every election year I hear ‘Black Lives Matter!” State Rep. Mesha Mainor (D-56) said in a tweet outlining her displeasure:

But do they? I see every other minority being prioritized except black children living in poverty that can’t read. We’ll send a million dollars to the border for immigrant services. But black communities? Not even a shout-out. I’m sorry, I don’t agree with this. I’m not backing down. I’m actually just getting started.

Mainor’s comments echo a growing concern among black citizens their interests are being subordinated to the establishment’s preference for migrants.

In Chicago, for example, blacks have organized to oppose their loss of power to immigrant voters, and to the placement of migrants in their neighborhood south of central Chicago. In Washington D.C., where blacks comprise 50 percent of the population, council members are complaining about the growing cost of aiding poor migrants.

Many comments and polls show that many blacks oppose large-scale migration — even as they also support government aid to migrants and Latinos.

Mainor’s comments got a friendly response from Americans worried about the establishment’s stealthy inflow of millions of poor migrants.

“I’m surprised to hear any state-level politician speaking up for Americans over illegal aliens, especially so if it’s coming from a Democrat,”  D.A. King, a pro-American activist told Breitbart News. King founded the Dustin Inman Society to oppose illegal migration into the state.

He continued:

I hope there are a lot of Republican legislators looking at that part of her statement because they need to speak up as well.

Here in Georgia, most of the state level politicians, including the governor, don’t speak up against illegal immigration because they’re afraid of the retribution from the special interests led by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.

The retribution for any politician under the Gold Dome here in Georgia is delivered in the form of “We will find someone to run against you in the next primary if you don’t do what we have ordered.

Among Democrats, “the secret’s kind of been out for a long time that the illegal aliens are here because they are [seen by Democrats as] potential Democrat voters, and we have only to look to California and Gwinnett County, Georgia, to see the outcome” he added.

More than 10 percent of residents in Georgia are international migrants. More than half of the migrants are illegals — and they are helping to grow the Democratic Party, flatten wages, and spike housing prices. For example, housing prices in Georgia are up 50 percent since 2020, according to real-estate firm RedFin.

Some Republicans — such as Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) — are connecting the dots between migration and housing:

Democrats’ anger at Mainor comes after she pushed for a GOP-led school choice bill that could help the children in her district.

Newsweek reported on May 21:

State Sen. Josh McLaurin, a [Georgia] Democrat, offered to donate $1,000 to a possible primary opponent. He told Axios last month that there are “many members who know Rep. Mainor is more a Republican than a Democrat, not just on [school] vouchers but on a range of issues.”

Mainor responded:

The Democrats at the Capitol took a hard position and demanded every Democrat vote against children and for the teachers union. I voted Yes for parents and yes for children, not [for] failing schools. Some of the schools I represent have a 3 percent reading proficiency and children can’t do simple math …

Well, my community loves the fact that someone is finally sticking up for them and holding the system accountable. Let’s be real: Parents do not want their child trapped in a failing school. And they aren’t frustrated with teachers. They’re upset with the elected leaders that put the teachers union and donors ahead of their constituents.

Half of the voters in Mainor’s district are black. Just one in twenty are Hispanic. Half the households in her district have an income of just $53,000. That is well below the national median income of $62,000.

“I’m not apologizing because my colleagues don’t like how I vote — when my community loves the fact that someone is finally sticking up for them,” Mainor said.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is rebuking Mexican President López Obrador for interfering in Florida politics.

“President López Obrador should be cracking down on the cartels running his country and fueling our deadly opioid epidemic instead of worrying about what we are doing in Florida,” DeSantis said in an exclusive statement to Breitbart News.

The rebuke came after President Obrador slammed DeSantis for his sweeping reforms of migration-related laws in Florida.

“I found out that the Florida governor — imagine, Florida, which is full of migrants! — is taking repressive, inhumane measures against [illegal] migrants in Florida because he wants to be a [presidential] candidate,” Obrador told a Mexican audience on Monday.

“This is immoral — this is politicking,” said Obrador, who is working with President Joe Biden to schedule the transfer of many more illegal migrants into the United States.

In a statement to Breitbart News, DeSantis shut down Obrador’s demand for more migration:

While President Biden may take his cues from leftist foreign leaders, Floridians won’t let their immigration laws be dictated by Mexico City. I’ll never back down from using the full weight of my office to protect the people of Florida by enforcing our immigration laws, and look forward to signing the strongest legislation against illegal immigration in Florida history.

DeSantis’ rebuke was delivered as he prepares to sign a law that makes it difficult for employers to favor and hire wage-cutting illegal migrants over ordinary American job-seekers.

The pending legislation, known as SB 1718, will likely be signed by DeSantis on Wednesday after being labeled as the “Toughest Immigration Crackdown in the Nation” by the New York Times.

Suspends licenses of any employer who knowingly employs illegal aliens, and makes using a fake ID to gain employment a felony.

Enhances penalties for human smuggling, including making knowingly transporting five or more illegal aliens or a single illegal alien minor a second-degree felony subject to a $10,000 fine and up to 15 years in prison.

Bans local governments and NGOs from issuing identification documents to illegal aliens and invalidates all out-of-state driver licenses issued exclusively to illegal aliens.

Requires hospitals to collect and report healthcare costs for illegal aliens.

Many Florida employers already employ illegal migrants, in part, because the workers are cheaper, more compliant, and grateful for the work. One far-left activist in Orlando, Fla., taunted DeSantis with a May 7 image apparently showing many illegal migrant workers at a construction site that would otherwise be run by better-paid Americans:

The federal government’s support for mass migration forces down Americans’ wages as it pushes up their rentsslows innovation, concentrates wealth in a few states, and shoves many Floridians to the sidelines of their own society. A 2020 study by investors admitted that an effective E-Verify law would pressure employers to raise wages for ordinary Americans.

Moreover, the establishment media ensures that Americans wildly underestimate the scale of migration even as they greatly overestimate other Americans’ support for continued immigration. For example, the “American Aspirations Index” survey asked 2,010 Americans in 2021 to rank 55 national priorities. The respondents said they believe that “[being] open to immigration” is the 18-ranked priority for all Americans. But when asked to declare their own views, they ranked the “open to immigration” priority near the bottom, at just 42nd of the 55 priorities.

However, GOP politicians have not used that pocketbook, kitchen-table argument to woo the many Democrat-leaning voters — including white-collar voters — who are growing worried about the scale and cost of Biden’s migration.

For example, in Florida, some donor-backed GOP legislators worked with pro-migrant Democrats to narrow the ambitious scope of DeSantis’ reforms as they moved through the Florida legislature. For example, the legislature rejected DeSantis’s proposal to penalize employers who house illegal migrants, and it exempted small employers from the E-Verify requirement.

But DeSantis got most of his reforms through the legislature — so the pro-migration groups of investors and ethnic lobbies are still loudly opposing his accomplishment.

“We’re just begging him not to sign this law because it will create economic havoc, and there’s better ways and better public policy that we can promote to attend the issue that we have,” immigration lawyer Aileen Walborsky told The Palm Beach Post.

“We don’t want people going into hiding, avoiding necessary health care services because of the requirements included in this bill,” said Palm Beach County Commissioner Michael Barnett. He is the former chair of the Palm Beach County GOP.

The American Business Immigration Council opposed the law, and its Venezuelan-born Florida director claimed it would “severely exacerbate the acute labor shortage in Florida.”

DeSantis has backed a lawsuit that has shut down some of Biden’s migration plans, sent some of Biden’s migrants to Cape Cod in Massachusetts, and has acted large to sharply raise criminal penalties for drug dealers.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre reiterated Monday that President Joe Biden would veto House bill H.R.2 if given the chance.

House Republicans will vote Thursday on H.R.2, a bill to codify some of former President Trump’s strictest border actions.

If the Senate approves the measure, Biden would have an opportunity to secure the southern border, where millions of migrants are expected to invade upon the lifting of Title 42.

But Jean-Pierre said the measure would be dead on arrival. “If the president were presented with H.R. 2 he would veto it,” she stated.

The White House had previously announced the veto threat Monday.

“While we welcome Congress’ engagement on meaningful steps to address immigration and the challenges at the border, this bill would make things worse, not better,” a statement from the White House Office of Management and Budget said. “Because this bill does very little to actually increase border security while doing a great deal to trample on the nation’s core values and international obligations, it should be rejected.”

H.R. 2 is scheduled for a House vote on the same day that Title 42 — a Trump-era policy to be terminated under Biden. Title 42 has ensured that federal immigration officials have been able to quickly return millions of illegal migrants to Mexico over the last three years.

As Title 42 expires, H.R.2 would codify many border security initiatives, including the “Remain in Mexico” program that mandates migrants seek asylum in Mexico until a U.S. immigration court date.

The bill would also resume border wall construction, designate money to improve border security, and block taxpayer funds from being given to NGOs that work to help migrants become legal aliens.

Exclusive — AZ GOP Chair Jeff DeWit: Gov. Hobbs Rolling Out ‘Red Carpet’ for Illegal Immigrants

Gov. Katie Hobbs Welcoming Illegal Immigrants

Arizona Republican Party Chairman Jeff DeWit spoke with Breitbart News about the nation’s border crisis after Title 42 ended and criticized Arizona Democrat Gov. Katie Hobbs for rolling out the “red carpet” for illegal immigrants as an estimated 700,000 migrants prepare to flood the border.

Breitbart News Saturday Host Matthew Boyle asked DeWit to speak about the conditions at the Southern border in light of Title 42’s end this week.

LISTEN:

DeWit explained that after Title 42’s end, roughly 700,000 “military-aged men,” were waiting to come into the country from Mexico, roughly estimating “one out of six adults” in Arizona.

“And when you figure we have what, seven million people in the state of Arizona? But if you figure maybe four million people are adult age, something like that. I mean, right now, it’s 700,000 people are coming across, that’s one out of six people. Theoretically, one out of six adults you see running around are illegal immigrants,” he said.

DeWit faulted President Joe Biden’s administration for incentivizing border crossers through taxpayer-funded benefits. He also explained that those entering the country are being given court dates as late as four years from today.

“And so it’s a big problem. The fact that our government brings them across and hands them a taxpayer=funded cell phone and taxpayer-funded benefits. And they’re being being given court dates,” he said.

“They’re basically running into the Border Patrol’s arms and saying, ‘Hey, I’d like my phone and all this.’ The court dates they’re giving them are saying, ‘Show up for court in 2027’ — and letting them loose in your communities with this promise to return, as you know. I don’t think this has actually happened. 2027! So it’s absurd. We’ve we’ve lost control of our southern border,” DeWit told Boyle.

DeWit said Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs is rolling out the “red carpet” for these illegal immigrants when Boyle asked whether Hobbs is trying to address the migrant crisis.

“Her plan is to basically roll out the red carpet and give them bus passes with our taxpayer money to wherever they want to go. And so no, it’s a shame. You know, if we had a Republican governor, obviously, things would be different. But no, she had a press conference the other day that was described as very awkward and basically, we’re being very welcoming is what our state is doing to this, which is what you’d expect with a liberal governor. And it’s, it’s absolutely terrible,” DeWit explained.

He then said the difference between Biden’s and former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies results in a “massive implication” for Arizona and the southern border.

Under Biden’s watch, 42 out of 46 border patrol agents at one of the sectors on the border are in the office processing paperwork instead of being out in the field catching people, according to DeWit.

He accused Biden of becoming the “puppet” of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Democrat Senate Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).

“Only four of them are even out in the field to catch people. And so how many people are just getting through? It’s a free-for-all down there. Yeah, the Biden administration wants illegal immigration. I mean, that’s the bottom line with the policies they’ve done and what they’ve stated. And if you look at it, basically Biden has become the puppet of AOC and Chuck Schumer,” DeWit told Boyle.

However, he believes the Biden Administration’s promotion of unfettered immigration will ultimately help the GOP’s chances of securing the White House in 2024.

“Now I think this will help us take back the White House,” DeWit said.

“I think what they’re not calculating is that one of the reasons that Trump did so well in 2016, was, you know, building the wall and his push to stop illegal immigration, because there are a lot of even Democrats that don’t like what’s going on,” DeWit said. “And so they will flip over and vote Republican to get a strong border. So that helped us a lot in 2016. And I think that’s going to help us a lot in 2024. The problem is, how much damage will be done by the time we get to 2024?”

DeWit confirmed to Boyle that he and the Arizona Republican Party are working on securing resources to build the “ground game” for an operation that could match the Democrat’s “ballot harvesting,” or “ballot chasing,” efforts.

Report: 20 Homeless Veterans Booted from NY Hotels, Likely to Make Room for Migrants: ‘We Just Lost That Trust’

Twenty homeless veterans from the Vietnam and Afghanistan wars have reportedly been booted out of hotels in upstate New York before their expected stays were over, likely to make room for incoming migrants.

UPDATE May 19, 2023: report from the Mid Hudson News indicates the story of veterans being displaced from hotels in favor of migrants is a hoax.  Breitbart News is investigating and will report further updates as we learn more.

Original story continues:

The veterans, awaiting permanent housing, were just two weeks into their four-week stay when Sharon Toney-Finch, founder of YIT Foundation, which assists homeless and low-income veterans, received a call Sunday that they were being asked to leave, as reported by the New York Post

She told the Post that some were removed from the Crossroads Hotel in Newburgh, Orange County, and others from the Super 8 and Hampton Inn & Suites in Middletown. The veterans are now staying at a Hudson Valley hotel.

“Now we have to work from ground zero,” Toney-Finch told the outlet. “We just lost that trust [with the vets].”

The veterans’ early checkout came just days before the expiration of former President Donald Trump’s pandemic-era Title 42. To prevent the spread of the coronavirus, this allowed U.S. officials to turn away migrants who crossed the border illegally seeking asylum. While the hotels did not explicitly say the veterans had to move to make room for the migrants, Toney-Finch said the timing leads her to believe this is the case.

Since spring 2022, more than 60,000 migrants have arrived in New York City, and Mayor Eric Adams has been busing the migrants to cities such as Rockland, where the hotels have been offering housing, as reported by the Post

The Middletown hotels are reportedly on the city’s shortlist to receive migrants. Toney-Finch said her nonprofit cannot compete with taxpayer-funded dollars used to house the immigrants.

“That’s so unfair, because at the end of the day, we are a small nonprofit, and we do pay $88 a day for a veteran to be there,” she added.

“Three separate lawsuits were filed on Friday by the Town of Newburgh and Orange County seeking a court to intervene and prevent New York City from sending migrants to the area,” the Mid Hudson News reported.

REPORT: NY Hotels Boot Homeless Veterans to Shelter Released Migrants

Upstate New York hotels reportedly kicked homeless veterans from their properties to make room for migrants being bused to the region from New York City. The homeless veterans, many Vietnam-era veterans, were receiving temporary shelter in the hotels through the efforts of a nonprofit agency.

UPDATE May 19, 2023: report from the Mid Hudson News indicates the story of veterans being displaced from hotels in favor of migrants is a hoax.  Breitbart News is investigating and will report further updates as we learn more.

Original story continues:

The New York Post reports that nearly two dozen homeless veterans “have been booted from the upstate hotels to make room for migrants.” One of the hotels told a 24-year-old Afghanistan war veteran their temporary housing was being pulled out from under them and they would have to move somewhere else.

Sharon Toney-Finch, CEO of the Yerik Israel Toney Foundation, told the New York Post, “Our veterans have been placed in another hotel due to what’s going on with the immigrants.”

Toney-Finch said they moved the veterans from the Crossroads Hotel in Newburgh, New York, to other nearby motels and hotels. The properties were located about 20 minutes from where they were displaced.

Orange County, New York, is now the target of a migrant busing campaign by New York City Mayor Eric Adams. The mayor is moving the migrants out of his sanctuary city to Upstate New York to relieve migrant overcrowding in his city.

The veterans had been placed in the first hotel under a four-week temporary housing program while the nonprofit agency attempted to find another solution for their housing needs. The veterans were about two weeks into the program “when they got the boot,” Toony-Finch stated.

“A lot of them are Vietnam veterans. We do help them on a constant basis to get them benefits and help them find a place in society,” she explained, adding, “Now we have to work from ground zero. We just lost that trust [with the vets].”

Republican New York State Assemblyman Brian Maher told the Post, “Shining a light on this is important because we need to make sure these hotels know how important it is to respect the service of our veterans before they kick [them] out of hotels to make room.”

New York Democrat Congressman Pat Ryan, whose 18th congressional district covers the northern suburbs and exurbs of New York City, took to social media to condemn the “incompetence” of city officials in displacing the homeless veterans.

New York Republican Congressman Marc Molinaro also took to social media to denounce the “absolutely inexcusable” treatment of the homeless veterans, which he described as “the result of incompetence and lack of compassion.”

Tooney-Finch said the hotel made the move to expel the veterans based on money. “They get paid more [for the migrants],” she stated. “That’s so unfair, because at the end of the day, we are a small nonprofit, and we do pay $88 a day for a veteran to be there.”

It is not clear what the city is paying for the housing of the bused migrants from New York City.

Democrats Pitch Plan to Turn NYC University Dorms into Migrant Shelters

WASHINGTON DC - NOVEMBER 4 A cleaning crew waits to start work in front of the Howard Plaza Towers at Howard University on November 4, 2021 in Washington DC. A pair of Democrats are urging New York universities and colleges to transform their student dorms into migrant shelters as border crossers and illegal aliens continue arriving daily.

Since the spring of 2022, more than 60,000 border crossers and illegal aliens have arrived in the sanctuary city of New York City. In response, Mayor Eric Adams (D) has turned to housing most migrants in hotels, a lucrative policy for the city’s powerful real estate lobby.

Reps. Dan Goldman (D-NY) and Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) are now asking officials at New York universities and colleges to turn their student dorms into migrant shelters.

“During the summer, many of your institutions have empty dorm rooms, student apartments, and other potentially appropriate places for shelter that can serve as much-needed temporary housing for migrants. We also ask for your help as we work with local leaders to provide food assistance and other necessities as well as pro bono legal assistance to migrant families arriving in New York,” the Democrat congressmen write:

As more families continue to arrive in New York, it is critical that all sectors of our society, including the private sector and institutions of higher education, also support the City’s commitment to providing these basic necessities to migrant families. Reports indicate that New York State is considering SUNY campuses as a place to temporarily house families. Many of your institutions also have prestigious law schools, medical facilities, and admit students who are committed to public service. We encourage you to develop programs that incentivize and support faculty and students to volunteer their time and talent to serve asylum seekers and their children. [Emphasis added]

State governors such as Florida’s Ron DeSantis and Texas’ Greg Abbott would like us to turn against each other and embrace anti-immigrant sentiments. We must show the rest of the country that when all sectors of our society come together, we can live up to our highest values and ideals as we welcome new immigrants to our community. [Emphasis added]

Like Adams, Democrats representing New York in Congress have not sought to pressure President Joe Biden’s administration to eliminate its Catch and Release network. Instead, they are looking to turn waves of illegal immigration into a boon for employers by more quickly giving work permits to border crossers and illegal aliens.

In addition to potentially putting border crossers and illegal aliens in student dorms, New Yorkers are set to foot an annual $75 million bill to put up border crossers and illegal aliens in Manhattan’s iconic Roosevelt Hotel.

Adams has noted that the cost of illegal immigration to New Yorkers, who are paying about $5 million every day to deal with the issue, will far exceed $4.3 billion when lost tourism money is factored in.

Moody’s Analytics: Skyrocketing Rents Across U.S. Far Outpace Income Growth

Skyrocketing rents across the United States are far outpacing income growth, making housing for working- and lower-middle-class Americans even more unaffordable, an economic report published by Moody’s Analytics details.

The report shows that while U.S. rents since 1999 have jumped almost 135 percent, incomes have only climbed about 77 percent.

“Last year, the share of American household income needed to rent an average-priced apartment crossed the rent-burdening 30 percent threshold for the first time in Moody’s nearly 25 years of tracking the U.S. average rent-to-income ratio,” the report states:

Rising mortgage rates caused many households to be priced out from buying a home, and kept would-be buyers in their apartments. Rental demand surged as a result and drove rates sky high. [Emphasis added]

In 1999, New York was the only U.S. metro area where rent consumed more than 30 percent of a household’s monthly income. A median-income household renting there would have spent nearly 54 percent of their income for an average-priced apartment. [Emphasis added]

By the end of 2022, seven metros had rent burdens greater than 30 percent — six are located on the East Coast. [Emphasis added]

As the report details, “increased demand has put pressure on rental rates and made it harder for renters to find affordable housing.”

A portion of that increased demand is driven by the nation’s decades-long mass immigration policy which admits more than a million legal immigrants annually plus a million foreign visa workers — in addition to hundreds of thousands of new illegal aliens who are added to the United States population every year — all of whom need places to live.

As Breitbart News reported, the U.S. population hit 333.3 million residents in 2022. More than 80 percent of that population growth is due to legal immigration, which was raised to sky-high levels in the early 1990s by then-President George H.W. Bush and has not been reduced since.

Since 1999, nearly 16 million immigrants have been added to the U.S. population.

“Letting in too many people drives up housing costs for normal Americans,” Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) wrote in a Twitter post. “Stop Biden’s border crisis, and stop his war on home affordability.”

Even advocates for mass immigration have admitted that the policy increases rents and home prices for mainly working- and lower-middle-class Americans.

Last week, New York Magazine wrote that mass immigration is “bad for housing prices,” joining other establishment media outlets — including the New York Times and Wall Street Journal — which have made such an admission.

Likewise, a study by the Michael Bloomberg-funded New American Economy group explained how the importing of tens of millions of immigrants over decades helped raise housing prices by $3.7 trillion for the next generation of homebuyers, but spun the figure as the creation of “housing wealth.”
