Biden White House Pressured Facebook To Censor COVID Posts, According to Files Released by GOP
The Biden White House pressured Facebook executives to remove posts about COVID-19, including claims that the virus was man-made, according to internal company communication released by the House Judiciary Committee.
"Can someone quickly remind me why we were removing—rather than demoting/labeling—claims that Covid is man made," asked Facebook's president of global affairs Nick Clegg in a July 2021 email to colleagues obtained by the Wall Street Journal.
"We were under pressure from the administration and others to do more," Facebook's vice president of content policy responded, speaking of the Biden administration. "We shouldn’t have done it."
The emails date to the spring and summer of 2021, when the Biden administration launched its campaign to promote the COVID vaccine. Administration officials feared that "false information" on Facebook was dissuading people from getting the shot and pushed Facebook to "more aggressively police vaccine-related content," according to the Journal.
"They’re killing people," President Joe Biden said that July.
The Republican-led House Judiciary Committee acquired the internal communications as part of an investigation into the Biden administration's alleged efforts to censor social media posts about COVID-19, vaccines, and other topics.
"These documents begin to reveal the pressure that Facebook and other social-media companies were under to alter their content-moderation policies and remove protected speech to appease the federal government, particularly the Biden White House," Rep. Jim Jordan (R., Ohio), chair of the House panel, said Thursday.
Three months before Clegg's July 2021 email discussion, Facebook's parent company Meta said it would stop banning posts claiming the coronavirus was man-made or manufactured given the "increasing debate about the virus's origin."
"There is likely a significant gap between what the [White House] would like us to remove and what we are comfortable removing," the Facebook vice president said. The executive listed as an example the White House's desire for Facebook to remove humorous or satirical content about the vaccine's side effects.
"The [White House] has previously indicated that it thinks humor should be removed if it is premised on the vaccine having side effects, so we expect it would similarly want to see humor about vaccine hesitancy removed," the vice president wrote.
"I can’t see Mark in a million years being comfortable with removing that—and I wouldn’t recommend it," Clegg responded, an apparent reference to CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
In another July email to colleagues just before a meeting with the U.S. surgeon general about vaccine misinformation, Clegg wrote: "My sense is that our current course—in effect explaining ourselves more fully, but not shifting on where we draw the lines … is a recipe for protracted and increasing acrimony."
"Given the bigger fish we have to fry with the Administration—data flows etc.—that doesn’t seem a great place for us to be, so grateful for any further creative thinking on how we can be responsive to their concerns," he said.
The White House said its discussions with Meta were "aimed at promoting the adoption of vaccines and other public-health goals," according to the Journal.
"In 2021, in the darkest days of the pandemic, of course the Biden administration was working every possible angle to keep people alive," a spokesman for Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee said in a statement.
Chase away those Monday blues with some schadenfreude for Mark Zuckerberg
Mark Zuckerberg’s hundreds of millions of tax-deductible “Zuckbucks” that boosted turnout in heavily Democrat areas in 2020 made him my enemy. I feel no shame at reveling in his mounting misfortunes in business, even as Meta, his rebranded name for Facebook, remains robustly profitable. Actually, that profitability, the result of Facebook and Google utterly dominating the online advertising business, and this depriving AT and every other conservative website of the ad dollars we need to stay alive (while keeping a lid on the viral distribution we need), is yet another reason to hate him, come to think of it.
So, it is gratifying to learn that his so-far unsuccessful quest to make virtual reality games a revenue-spinner is flopping badly. Jonathan Vanian of CNBC writes:
Meta reported second-quarter earnings on Wednesday and said that its Reality Labs unit, which develops virtual reality and augmented reality technologies needed to power the metaverse, logged a $3.7 billion operating loss.
The unit recorded $276 million in second-quarter sales, down from the $339 million in revenue it brought during the first quarter. Analysts polled by StreetAccount were projecting Reality Labs to record $421 million in sales and $3.5 billion in operating losses.
It’s always bad to disappoint the analysts, because they help shape the prices people are willing to pay for your stock. But the incredible earning power of the original business, Facebook, is saving that price:
Shares of Meta were up about 5% after it reported an 11% pop in revenue as advertising rebounded and the company issued an uplifting sales forecast for the third quarter. It shows that Meta is still very much an ad company with a big cost center.
And what a cost center VR has turned out to be. So far, Zuck’s quest to make VR a big business and to dominate it has cost his shareholders over $21 billion in just 18 months:
Last year, Meta’s Reality Labs unit lost a total of $13.7 billion while bringing in $2.16 billion in revenue, which is driven in part by the company’s sales of Quest-branded VR headsets. Reality Labs lost $3.99 billion during the first quarter. That puts its total losses at about $21.3 billion since the beginning of last year.
That would bankrupt most companies. But not Facebook, which makes oligopolistic profits.
And even if shareholders wanted to fire Zuckerberg for wasting their money, they couldn’t. Like the Suzlberger family that controls the New York Times, Meta has 2 classes of shareholders, and one class dominates the board of directors, even with far less than a majority of the capital invested in the business. Paraphrasing Animal Farm, some shareholders are more equal than other shareholders.
Selling is really all the majority of shareholders can do. They are powerless to exert any real influence on Zuckerberg, the company’s chairman and chief executive.
If this had happened to a typical listed company, the chief executive would be under serious pressure from shareholders. But Zuckerberg, who owns about 13.6 per cent of Meta shares, is entrenched due to what is known as a dual-class share structure.
When the company was listed on the NASDAQ tech stock index in 2012, most investors got to buy “class A” shares, with each share being worth one vote at company general meetings. A few investors were issued class B shares, which are not publicly traded and are worth ten votes each.
As of January 2022, there were about 2.3 billion class A shares in Meta, and 412.86 million class B shares. But although class B shares represent just 15 per cent of total stock, they represent 64 per cent of the votes. And it means Zuckerberg alone controls more than 57 per cent of votes – meaning the only way he can be removed as chief executive is if he votes himself out.
Meanwhile, Zuck’s other bright idea, a Twitter [and X]-like social media platform called threads, intended to put Elon Musk on the defensive, is flopping, too.
More than 100 million users downloaded the Instagram-linked app in the week that followed the highly publicized launch. However, the Meta CEO’s purported “Twitter-killer” app has seen usage plummet by more than half because of a lack of features.
“Obviously, if you have more than 100 million people sign up, ideally it would be awesome if all of them or even half of them stuck around. We’re not there yet,” Zuckerberg said.
In order to keep users on Threads, Meta is looking to add more “retention-driving hooks” such as “making sure people who are on the Instagram app can see important Threads,” said Chris Cox, Meta’s chief product officer.
Zuckerberg said he considered the drop-off “normal” and expected retention to grow as the company adds more features to the app, including a desktop version and search functionality.
It’s always possible that with billions of dollars to throw away, Zuckerberg could build Threads into a more formidable competitor. But Musk is a moving target. This battle is fsr from over.

With all the focus on President Trump and his legal woes, the question arises: How did Trump get rich? And how did the Democrat elites persecuting him now get rich?
Let's start with the Clintons:
How did the Clintons get rich?
The Clintons took no risk, made no investments, and didn't borrow money. Nope, they just used Hillary's powerful position slurping from the public trough to sell access to all comers, for huge amounts of money.

The media and Justice Department didn't care about this corruption any more than they cared about her mishandling of classified documents, destroying documents and computers, obstructing justice, or perpetuating a massive fraud in the 2016 election with the Russian dossier.
Now let's move on to the Obamas.
How did the Obamas get rich?
Without going through Congress, Obama used the FCC in 2015 to implement net neutrality which he claimed was meant to help the little guy but it saved the big users of bandwidth on the internet huge amounts of money because they didn't have to reimburse the internet providers for their investments.
Network neutrality, often referred to as net neutrality, is the principle that Internet service providers (ISPs) must treat all Internet communications equally, offering users and online content providers consistent rates irrespective of content, website, platform, application, type of equipment, source address, destination address, or method of communication (i.e., without price discrimination)
The biggest users of internet bandwidth are Google, Netflix, Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, and Amazon, who consume more than 43% of the bandwidth, so those huge companies got huge savings because of Obama's actions. Trump got rid of net neutrality and Biden is trying to bring it back.
Democrats love to pretend they write policies for the little guy but they essentially are puppets for big companies. Google essentially had an office at the White House during the Obama, Biden years.

Over the past seven years, Google has created a remarkable partnership with the Obama White House, providing expertise, services, advice, and personnel for vital government projects.
Precisely how much influence this buys Google isn’t always clear. But consider that over in the European Union, Google is now facing two major antitrust charges for abusing its dominance in mobile operating systems and search. By contrast, in the U.S., a strong case to sanction Google was quashed by a presidentially appointed commission.
As soon as Obama was out of office, the Obamas were rewarded with a huge contract with Netflix, despite having no product and no experience.

After completing their two terms as president and first lady, Barack and Michelle Obama have signed up for some pretty lucrative projects.
The first, announced in February 2017, was a joint deal worth an estimated $65 million to publish their memoirs.
They care so much about the little guy.
I bet the writers and actors on strike are pretty jealous that they are so low-paid while the Obamas just slurped from the public trough for years, rewarded Netflix with net neutrality, and got a huge kickback worth millions so they could buy multiple mansions.
Obama, his justice Department, and other Democrats knew how corrupt the Clintons and Bidens were as they lined their pockets with foreign money but have never cared as they campaigned for them, covered up for them, and continually targeted President Trump for destruction.
But they are supposedly outraged that conservative supreme court judges have rich friends they take trips with.
And the media sees nothing wrong with this massive amount of money the Obamas got from Netflix.
Now let's look at the Bidens: How did the Bidens get rich?
It appears they took political corruption to a new level.
Joe and Hunter traveled the world in government jets, gathering up kickbacks. They set up a large number of shell corporations to gather and distribute the money to several family members and some "business associates."
It does not appear that they took any risk, made any investments, borrowed any money, or hired more than a few people in these shell companies, such as Hunter's stripper girlfriend, who was hired for a while.
But according to most of the media, Justice Department, and other Democrats inconceivably say they can't spot any evidence that Joe Biden did anything wrong.
Of course, they also aren't interested in Joe illegally having and mishandling classified documents, no matter how long he had them, how many times they were moved and what they were.
Now let's look at President Trump:
How did Trump get rich?
He took massive risks, made huge investments, and borrowed lots of money while building casinos hotels, and golf resorts. He created tens of thousands of jobs, paid huge sales, property, payroll, and other taxes.
And for that, the media and other Democrats have targeted him with witch hunts and claimed that he was corrupt.
They even went after Trump because some foreign government officials stayed at his hotels, heaven forbid, but massive kickbacks to the Clintons and Bidens from foreign parties is perfectly O.K.
A federal appeals court tossed out a lawsuit by congressional Democrats who had sued President Donald Trump for allegedly violating the Constitution’s emoluments clause.
That clause bars presidents from receiving money from foreign governments.
Moral of the story: Powerful Democrats can do whatever they want to get rich while sucking off the public teat because they love big government but Republicans who are capitalists, and who have policies to give power, freedom, and money back to the people, must be stopped because they are the threat to the leftist agenda and the powerful bureaucracy, the deep state.

I bet the media and prosecutors aren't worried at all about where Hunter is getting his money to pay all his high-paid lawyers or any potential conflicts of interest since they don't seem to care about anything Joe or Hunter do.
Hunter said he needed to lower child support for his child with former stripper Lunden Roberts, the four-year-old Navy, so where is the money coming from? He hasn't appeared to have had a real job for years, only kickbacks.

Despite a major wave of interest in the hit film My Son Hunter resulting in coverage from publications including Newsweek, Rolling Stone, and the Washington Post, trending hashtags on social media, and a feature on Tucker Carlson, Google has deliberately excluded Breitbart articles about the new film from the Google News tab even though as the film’s distributor, Breitbart News is the best source of information on the movie about Joe and Hunter Biden. After Breitbart News requested comment on the matter from the Masters of the Universe, a week-old Breitbart article on the movie appeared on page two of the News tab.
The recent film My Son Hunter from Breitbart News chronicles the story of Hunter Biden, including his corrupt business dealings, his relationship with his father, and a rockstar lifestyle funded by China. The film received widespread acclaim and trended across Twitter on the day of its release. The film was praised by the leftists at the Daily Beast and has even been credited by one left-wing critic for helping him learn the truth about the Biden family. The film’s launch was so popular that a surge of user traffic halted access to MySonHunter.com on release day.

Yet despite this widespread popularity, Google has excluded articles from Breitbart News about its own film from the Google News tab, a popular feature where users can receive a curated list of daily headlines and stories. A week-old story from Breitbart News now appears on page two of the News tab, a change that occurred a day after our team sent a request for comment to the internet giant.
While articles from other publications do appear when searching for the film, with many left-wing outlets attacking or criticizing the movie, none of Breitbart News’ articles covering My Son Hunter have been included before today. Despite 78 articles published by Breitbart News about the movie receiving thousands of comments, huge numbers of views, and widespread virality across social media platforms, Google deliberately includes only a single article from Breitbart on Google News searches about the hit film, and an older article at that.
In fact, searching for Breitbart News on Google News returns articles about Breitbart News, but no articles actually published by Breitbart. This is not the first time that Breitbart News has been the target of Google’s censorship and suppression.
Google actively suppressed Breitbart News in search results leading up to the 2020 election. In October 2020, Breitbart News reported that Google was actively interfering in elections by burying links to Breitbart News in its search results, in particular news related to Joe Biden and his family.
Breitbart News reporter Allum Bokhari wrote:
In July, Breitbart News published data showing that Breitbart’s Google search visibility is down 99 percent compared to the same period in 2016.
RealClearPolitics later published data corroborating this, and showing that the same silent expulsion from Google search results has happened to a variety of other conservative news websites as well.
It appears that Breitbart News links are being hidden on Google searches even when users search for the exact string of words in an original Breitbart headline. When links to Breitbart stories do appear, it is often below obscure websites that plagiarize Breitbart’s content.
Search ranking is critical for web traffic from Google. The search analytics industry has found that the top three search results on Google drive over 70 percent of clicks.
In a new video, Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow reveals in additional detail the depth of Google’s suppression of Breitbart’s reporting.
“Breitbart News is, according to Amazon-owned Alexa.com, one of the top five news publishers in the United States, yet if you search — verbatim — Breitbart headlines in Google, you won’t necessarily get any Breitbart results at all,” Marlow said.
Breitbart News reached out to Google for comment with questions on why My Son Hunter articles from Breitbart News have not been included in Google News whatsoever. The Silicon Valley giant has not answered.
