Chicago Group Asks Gang Members Not to Shoot People Between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.
Native Sons, a group from Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood, is asking that gang members pledge to cease fire from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily so no one lives in fear of being shot while going about their day-to-day activities.
The push for the cease-fire is being called “The People’s Ordinance,” CWBChicago reported.
Native Sons’ co-founder, Tatiana Atkins, said:
Under this ordinance, we ask that people stop associating with and glorifying ‘shooters,’ stop glorifying ‘switches,’ and stop wearing those ski masks everywhere which perpetuates you as some ‘opp.’ When those who live a certain lifestyle try to hang with ‘regular’ class citizens, they put everyone at risk.

At the end of the day, five-year-olds are being killed by gun violence, 14-year-olds are being killed by gun violence, 78-year-olds are being killed by gun violence, pregnant women are being killed by gun violence, young boys with bright futures are being killed by gun violence, fathers are being killed by gun violence, and this shouldn’t be happening.
Atkins hopes that gang members will adopt the cease-fire and that parents will react by making sure they have their children home and inside as 9:00 p.m. approaches.
Breitbart News reported at least 23 people were shot over the weekend in Chicago, three of them fatally.

Sad: Community group in Chicago pleads with gangbangers: ‘9 AM - 9 PM no shooting’
Things have gotten so bad in Chicago that the most a well-meaning and sincere community group can aspire to is getting the gangbanger community to confine its shooting to the overnight 12 hours of 9 PM to 9 AM. A kind of daylight curfew for drive-by shootings. The invaluable website CWBChicago reports:
A North Side community group is calling for people to refrain from shooting guns in Chicago between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. to reduce the risk to people “not involved in high risk activities.”
The proposal from Rogers Park-based Native Sons, known as “The People’s Ordinance,” was recently promoted in an email newsletter by Ald. Maria Hadden (49th).
The thinking behind the plea:
“We have to start somewhere,” Tatiana Atkins, co-founder of Native Sons, said. “Our goal is to approach our city’s gun violence problem strategically and not all at once. Things didn’t become this way overnight, and change won’t happen overnight.
“Under this ordinance, we ask that people stop associating with and glorifying’ shooters,’ stop glorifying ‘switches,’ and stop wearing those ski masks everywhere which perpetuates you as some ‘opp,'” Atkins told CWBChicago recently. “When those who live a certain lifestyle try to hang with ‘regular’ class citizens, they put everyone at risk.”
“Switches” are after-market devices that turn some semi-automatic handguns into automatic-firing weapons, similar to machine guns.
“If people know that after a certain hour, the likelihood of them being shot by an unknown and unprovoked assailant are at a higher risk, they will be less likely to be out and about, and they may become more proactive with the supervision of their children,” she continued.
Although Native Sons calls the movement an “ordinance,” no such legislation has been filed in the city council. It accepts that shooters are not going to stop shooting each other, and seems to ask them to murder responsibly, at a time when the civilians have been warned to huddle indoors.
The 9 AM time for beginning to pause in shooting is certainly a late riser’s version of the end of night. Many employed people begin their commutes at 6 or 7 AM, with 9 AM often seen as the time that rush hour traffic subsides.
Although laughter was my first response to this initiative, I do empathize with the desire to wash one’s hands of the mission of ending gangbanging and merely confine it to the hours the fewest non-gang people are out and about. But it is an awful concession to make, a normalization of horrific violence, an acceptance of an unacceptable reality.

At Least 23 Shot During Weekend in Mayor Brandon Johnson’s Chicago
At least 23 people were shot, three of them fatally, during the weekend in Mayor Brandon Johnson’s (D) Chicago.
ABC 7 / Chicago Sun-Times reported the first fatal shooting occurred at 2:40 a.m. “in the 1500 block of West 18th Street,” when a 36-year-old man was shot in the chest.
The man was able to transport himself to the hospital where he died.
Also early on Sunday, a man was found shot to death “in the 700 block of South Leamington Avenue.” No details were provided on the manner in which the shooting occurred.
The third fatal shooting occurred around 8:15 p.m. in the “5700 block of South Payne Drive,” following an argument after which a male pulled a gun and opened fire on a 16-year-old, two 18-year-olds, and a 53-year-old man. One of the 18-year-olds was shot and succumbed to his wounds.
The Sun-Times pointed out 372 people were killed in Chicago January 1, 2023, through August 13, 2023.

They are big on defunding the police which increases the crime rate because criminals roam free to commit more crimes. This isn’t rocket science. And so the crime rate skyrockets. Chicago, the deadliest city in the country, kills more people per weekend than were killed in the Parkland shooting. Democrats running these high-crime cities do not seem the least bit perturbed by violent crimes. They make no effort to put repeat criminals in jail and in fact, liberal DAs refuse to bring charges against the people who are serially killing other people.

1,120 people have been shot this year in Chicago and 282 people have been murdered.

A mob of looters ransacked a Nordstrom location in the Westfield Topanga mall in the San Fernando Valley on Saturday afternoon, prompting Mayor Karen Bass to condemn the chaos.
Local news station KTLA reported:
Police said anywhere between 20-50 suspects are believed to be involved, although the exact number has not been confirmed.
The thieves were seen violently grabbing whatever merchandise they could carry, with many seen ripping the security devices attached to designer purses and luggage items. Store shelves and display racks were destroyed, knocked over and littered across the floor along with a ton of fallen merchandise.
At one point, a security guard who tried to intervene was attacked with a chemical spray, police said. It’s unclear what that person’s condition is.
Mayor Bass issued a statement on Saturday evening:
What happened today at the Nordstrom in the Topanga Mall is absolutely unacceptable. Those who committed these acts and acts like it in neighboring areas must be held accountable. The Los Angeles Police Department will continue to work to not only find those responsible for this incident but to prevent these attacks on retailers from happening in the future.
Bass has promised to hire more police — just a few years after then-Mayor Eric Garcetti promised to cut more than 10% of the police budget for redistribution to “communities of color” in the midst of the Black Lives Matter riots that shook the city.
Mass looting has been a phenomenon since the riots, and especially since mobs looted high-end stores in San Francisco’s Union Square in November 2021.
