BIDEN DESTROYS THE ECONOMY AS FAST AS HE DID THE BORDER - Bidenflation: Imported Consumer Goods Prices Prices See Biggest Surge Ever

The inflow also reduces economic pressure on the federal government to deal with Americans’ problems — homelessness, low wages, a shrinking middle class, slowing innovation, declining blue-collar life expectancy, spreading poverty, the rising death toll from drugs, and the spreading alienation among young people.

The prices of imported goods purchased by U.S. consumers in January saw the biggest one-month increase ever recorded in data going back to 1989, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said on Thursday, adding to worries that inflation appears to be rising again.

Overall import prices jumped 0.8 percent in January compared with the previous month, the largest increase since March 2022. Economists had expected import prices to fall by 0.1 percent.

The prices of finished consumer goods rose 1.1 percent, the biggest single-month jump since the Bureau of Labor Statistics started publishing single-month price changes in 1989.

Prices of medicinal, dental, and pharmaceutical materials climbed 4.1 percent. Imported auto prices increased 0.8 percent, the largest monthly increase since May 2011.

The price index for capital goods rose 0.4 percent, the largest one-month increase since April 2022.

One of the primary reasons import prices are tracked by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which compiles the month consumer price index, is to monitor the impact they have on inflation. They are considered a forward indicator of domestic inflation since many inputs to domestic production and consumption are imported.

In the 12 months through January, import prices were down 1.3 percent. That’s a smaller year-over-year decline than the 2.4 percent recorded in December. This suggests that the disinflationary pressure that was coming from declining import prices—driven by dollar strength and weakening economies around the world—is declining.

Imported fuel prices jumped 1.2 percent in January after plunging in December. Food imports saw a 1.5 percent increase in January.

Excluding food and fuel, so-called core import prices rose 0.7 percent after being flat in December.
Exports from the U.S. saw a price rise of 0.8 percent.

Cities at Breaking Point in California, Colorado, and Maine over Biden Border Crisis

With more than 40,000 migrants arriving since 2022, Denver is at a breaking point with the weight of the costs of delivering free housing, free medical care, free legal advice, free education for their children, and other things to migrants.

In response, Democrat Denver Mayor Mike Johnston has come down to massive budget cuts to city services to legal residents to address the issue.

Up until last month, Denver has put $42 million into caring for Joe Biden’s flood of illegal aliens that have inundated the Mile High City. The costs may amount to more than $180 million this year, according to the New York Times.

Mayor Johnston said that the $9 million coming from the federal government to be dedicated to the migrant issue was simply not enough to solve the crisis. So, to address the shortfall, Johnston says the city needs to pick up the difference.

“We are going to have to make changes to what we can do in terms of our city budget and what we can do in terms of support for newcomers who have arrived in the city,” Johnston said on Feb. 9.

“We want to continue to be a city that does not have women and children out on the street in tents in 20-degree weather,” he added. “And we also want to provide all our constituents with the services they deserve and the services that they expect.”

“This is a plan for shared sacrifice,” said Johnston said.

Johnston went on to propose cuts in services to city residents.

Perhaps absurdly, the Democrat mayor tried to blame Republicans and Donald Trump for the illegal alien issue and claimed that Trump scotched a a “bipartisan Senate deal” and he and Republicans worked to “kill that bill just so this crisis would continue just because he thinks he has a better chance of reelection.”

Many citizens may not be buying Johnston’s naked political attack on Republicans.

Residents of nearby Lakewood are worried that their town will also succumb to the overflow from Denver.

On Monday, Lakewood residents packed a city council meeting demanding that their elected officials create policies to prevent the sort of mess that is swamping Denver, CPR News reported.

“What you see tonight is informed voters who have watched Denver’s decline, and don’t want the same here,” resident Dawn Austin said during the meeting were some toted signs reading, “Don’t Denver Our Lakewood.”

“This community cannot afford this,” said Ramey Johnson, a former city councilwoman who has helped organize the people voicing concerns. “It’s not that we are not a compassionate community. We are,” another resident named Ramey Johnson said. “But we cannot care for the world.”

City officials assured residents that they were not planning on opening any shelters for illegals any time soon. During the meeting, Lakewood city manager Kathy Hodgson told the council that “Lakewood is not being solicited for hotel/motel or congregate housing support.”

The Denver area is hardly alone. This budget busting destruction is not happening just in scattered cities. Budgets are being busted across the country as liberal cities race to shift money from police, firemen, libraries, and every other city service to the feeding and housing of Joe Biden’s illegals.

From Los Angeles, to Chicago, to Boston, to New York City, and up into Maine, not to mention in every corner of the southwest, cities are being swamped and outspent by the millions of border crossers who have come here assuming that Joe Biden has created a wide open border.

New York Mayor Eric Adams suffered a major backlash on Nov. when he suggested that he intended to cut hundreds of hundreds of millions from the Big Apple’s yearly budget.

And just this week, Maine state Senator Matt Pouliot warned voters that the state has thrown a hefty $13 million dollars to house just 85 families in hotel in Saco in cooperation with Catholic Charities of Maine.

Sen. Pouliot noted in a press conference on Tuesday that he and several other members of the state legislature visited the hotel in Saco, located just south of Portland.

“This hotel at which we’ve spent now over $13 million at,” the state sen. said. “This hotel has served just 85 families. Now think about that for a moment. We have 186 really bright minds in the legislature working on really complex problems. And somehow 13 almost $14 million is being diverted to help just 85 families. That doesn’t seem right.”

Republican Senate Majority Leader Trey Stewart echoed Pouliot’s concerns.

“It’s really striking to me that the folks in rural Maine are being told to do more with less, meanwhile Taj Mahals are being built for other folks in more urban places that aren’t even Maine residents, Maine citizens,” Stewart said on Feb. 14, according to The Center Square.

Republican House Minority Leader Billy Bob Faulkingham noted that more illegals have flooded Maine in just a year than moved to Maine to become legal residents since the year 2000.

Faulkingham blasted Democrat Gov. Janet Mills for putting “migrants over Mainers and added, “Just to put that number in perspective, it’s more people to move in than have moved in since 2000 – and Mainers are footing the bill.”

Politico: HarperCollins to Release Peter Schweizer Blockbuster — ‘A Towering Achievement of Investigative Journalism’

peter-schweizer-blood-money

Politico Playbook exclusively reported on Wednesday that Government Accountability Institute President and Breitbart News Senior Contributor Peter Schweizer has revealed China’s “Disintegration Warfare” plans to kill Americans and sow social chaos; and the seven-time New York Times bestselling author is set to expose all of this in a new book that publishing giant HarperCollins hails as a “towering achievement of investigative journalism.”

Blood Money: Why the Powerful Turn a Blind Eye While China Kills Americans (HarperCollins) is set for official release on Tuesday, February 27. The book is the result of a two-year probe by Schweizer and his team of forensic investigators, who traced hundreds of billions of dollars in suspect money tied to China’s undeclared war on the U.S.

The book’s cover imagery and title are already sparking discussions inside official Washington. Politico Playbook,  which broke the exclusive on Blood Money’s forthcoming publication, revealed that the book’s dust-jacket features California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), Dr. Anthony Fauci, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), Neville Roy Singham, President Joe Biden, Chinese Communist Party Leader Xi Jinping, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), as well as images of drugs, guns, and stacks of cash.

“Lawmakers and their staffers are trying to obtain early copies,” said a publishing industry insider. “But like all Peter Schweizer books, the publisher has this one under the strictest of embargoes.”

Indeed, the release of a Peter Schweizer book has become somewhat of an event on Capitol Hill, as staffers brace to see whether the names of their senator or member of Congress appear in the index—and whether Schweizer’s famous follow-the-money revelations will lead to their boss’s resignation or investigation. “We’re used to politicians behaving badly and getting away with it; a Schweizer book is one of those rare occasions where corruption revelations actually turn into results with real consequences,” said Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow. “We are just getting started.”

Schweizer, who is president of the Government Accountability Institute (GAI) and a senior contributor to Breitbart News, has a well-documented track record of igniting congressional resignations, FBI investigations, reform legislation, and inquiries that lead to criminal indictments.

In 2011, Schweizer released the book Throw Them All Out, which famously exposed insider trading by members of Congress. One of the book’s key figures was Republican and then-chairman of the powerful House Financial Services Committee Rep. Spencer Bachus (R-AL). CBS’s 60 Minutes produced a prize-winning segment on Schweizer and his findings, which led to Bachus’s decision not to run for re-election and won for 60 Minutes the prestigious Joan Shorenstein Barone Award for excellence in Washington-based journalism.  The following year, President Barack Obama signed the bipartisan STOCK (Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge) Act to ban congressional insider trading. Left-leaning Slate magazine hailed Peter Schweizer’s Throw Them All Out as “the book that started the STOCK Act stampede,” the only piece of major bipartisan legislation to overwhelmingly pass that year.

In 2013, Schweizer released his follow-up blockbuster, Extortion: How Politicians Extract Your Money, Buy Votes, and Line Their Own Pockets. Schweizer followed the money and exposed the Republican Party’s then-Speaker of the House John Boehner. Extortion’s revelations also sparked the resignation of Democrat Rep. Rob Andrews (D-NJ), whom Schweizer exposed on CBS’s 60 Minutes.

In 2015, Schweizer released the e-book, Bush Bucks: How Public Service and Corporations Helped Make Jeb Rich.  The New York TimesBloomberg, and others reported on the book’s findings, which included the fact that more than half of Florida Gov. Jeb Bush’s post-gubernatorial income was derived from a handful of companies that benefitted while Bush was governor. Schweizer also uncovered how Jeb Bush provided “political intelligence” to Wall Street investment firms via Lehman Brothers and Barclays that gave them the inside track on pending mergers and acquisitions. Finally, Bush Bucks exposed how educational reforms during Bush’s tenure as Florida governor enriched key companies that then put money back into Bush’s foundations and pockets.

That same year, Schweizer released the GAI blockbuster Clinton Cash: The Untold Story of How and Why Foreign Governments and Businesses Helped Make Bill and Hillary Rich. The book hit the New York Times bestsellers list, with the Times hailing it “the most anticipated and feared book of a presidential cycle.” Schweizer’s expose of the Clinton Foundation’s cronyism ignited an FBI investigation and shaped coverage of the 2016 news cycle. The Washington Post, MSNBC, BBC News, Daily Mail, Wall Street Journal, CNN and numerous other establishment media outlets all covered the book’s granular and peerless reporting; and the New York Time’s front-page, 4,000-word story, “Cash Flowed to Clinton Foundation Amid Russian Uranium Deal,” was based on Schweizer’s Clinton Cash revelations.

Then beginning in 2018, Schweizer released a string of three back-to-back #1 New York Times bestsellers that broke the Biden family corruption scandals wide open: Secret EmpiresProfiles in Corruption, and Red-Handed. The trilogy exposed vast foreign money deals flowing to the Bidens, including some $31 million from Chinese operators with direct ties to the highest levels of Chinese intelligence. Schweizer also unearthed the now-legendary finding that Joe and Hunter Biden flew aboard Air Force Two to China in 2013 and that two weeks later, Hunter’s firm then bagged a $1.5 billion deal with a subsidiary of the Chinese government’s Bank of China—even as Joe Biden steered U.S.-China policy as vice president. Schweizer also exposed the Chinese money ties to Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s family fortune. Were it not for Schweizer’s years of work on the Biden family’s sophisticated system of self-enrichment, many believe Hunter Biden would not be facing his current criminal indictments.

Schweizer occupies a rare place in the journalism world, having won praise from across the political spectrum for his world-class investigatory skills and willingness to go wherever the money leads him, regardless of partisan interests. As UK’s The Guardian put it in 2022, Schweizer “fires shots across the political spectrum.”

His biggest-selling book, Red-Handed: How American Elites Get Rich Helping China Win, spent eight weeks on the New York Times bestsellers list and was #1 for four weeks. CNN raved “Red-Handed is red hot” and has “all the makings of a huge hit.” Dennis Prager called Schweizer “one of the most remarkable investigative reporters of our time.” Mark Levin declared the book’s voluminous sourcing and citations “bulletproof,” dubbing Schweizer a “national treasure” who deserves the Medal of Freedom.

According to Amazon, Blood Money: Why the Powerful Turn a Blind Eye While China Kills Americans runs 320 pages in length. The book comes out on February 27 and is available now for pre-order.
