This really is happening here in the Mojave Desert. There are huge pot Farms out here where water is very scarce. But the local residents unwittingly do contract work for them just to make money. Greed is everywhere. If you go to buy PVC pipe fittings at Home Depot or any other hardware store the non-english-speaking Chinese are in there grabbing it all up so they can water their pot in cheap "greenhouses".
