Descendants of Slaves Want $74 Billion in Reparations From Saint Louis University
Descendants of slaves who labored at Saint Louis University are now demanding $74 billion dollars in reparations from the university.
The $74 billion demand is multiple times larger than the university’s endowment, a comparatively paltry $1.5 billion. Allegedly, the calculation of the reparations was done according to “time-honored methods,” as stated by Julianne Malveaux, an economist and head of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition’s educational branch. The calculations apparently involved estimating a low wage of $0.05 cents an hour earned by the 70 slaves at the university, for 24 hours, from 1823 until the abolition of slavery in 1865.
Even this extravagant sum of money represents only a “conservative” estimate and the start of a conversation over reparations, according to Areva Martin, a lawyer working for the descendants of the slaves. The issue is not a new one, as the Jesuits, the Catholic order which runs Saint Louis University, have made previous apologies for the use of enslaved labor and, in 2021, pledged $100 million in reparations to descendants of slaves.
Georgetown University, another Jesuit-led university, promised $27 million to the descendants of the 272 slaves who were sold by the university in 1838 in order to pay off its debts. Even this quantity represented only a small portion of the $1 billion Georgetown pledged in long term reparations to the descendants of those same slaves.
Saint Louis University has not yet issued a response to the reparations request. A spokesperson for the university did mention that “we acknowledge that progress on our efforts to reconcile with this shameful history has been slow, and we regret the hurt and frustration this has caused.”
Whether or not the university will ultimately contribute all or a portion of the calculated sum in reparations remains to be determined. Even if it does, it also remains a question of how the reparations will be distributed. In the Georgetown case “the foundation is not planning to give individual checks to each descendant.” Instead, the funds will be directed toward “racial healing and reconciliation work,” along with scholarships and grants.
If the descendants of the slaves at Saint Louis University have multiplied the quantity of reparations committed to by Georgetown seventy-four-fold, it seems that the exaggerated quantities of reparations demanded by descendants of slaves will only continue to skyrocket.
VIDEO — Police: Robbers Snatch $51K Worth of NYC Gucci Store Merchandise in Broad Daylight
Armed suspects targeted a Gucci store in New York City on Monday, and law enforcement is still looking for the alleged robbers.
The incident happened at the store on 14th Street just after noon, according to the New York Post.
The suspects were identified as two men and one woman who entered the store, flashed a firearm, and told workers to lie down on the ground while they grabbed items.
Fox 5 reported:
After taking $51,000 worth of high-end merchandise, police said the woman pulled up to the curb, right near the store entrance, in a black Honda CRV. Once the men were inside, the vehicle sped off down 9th Ave., nearly hitting another vehicle and a person on a bike.
Police said the suspects drove through the Lincoln Tunnel into New Jersey. Their whereabouts after that were unknown.
Video footage shows two suspects, wearing dark clothing, hoods, and masks, carrying what appears to be purses out of the store. One is seen dragging a suitcase.
The shop closed for the rest of the day, and neighbors were disturbed when they heard the news.
One shopper told the Post she felt sorry for the employees.
“People don’t make, like, a ton of money that are working at these stores, and now to deal with this? They’re just trying to make money and do their job, and I don’t think anyone should have to be afraid to go in to work,” she commented.
Social media users shared their thoughts on the incident, one person writing, “Why would you want to own a shopfront store in a crime-filled city with revolving door criminal justice these days?”
“It happens every day in high-end stores in New York City…Nothing happens to the criminals…The cops are not allowed to do their jobs with Eric Adams as mayor of NYC…Beyond sad…” another user commented.
In October, two armed suspects targeted pedestrians in New York City, making off with Rolex watches and a gold chain, according to Breitbart News. The outlet said the items were worth $29,000.In addition, the outlet reported on January 8 that “violent crime is raging across New York City, as several shootings took place on Saturday in multiple boroughs.”

Man Who Fatally Shot Minnesota Officers Identified as 38-Year-Old Barred from Gun Possession
The man who fatally shot two Burnsville, Minnesota, police officers and a firefighter/paramedic Sunday morning has been identified as 38-year-old Shannon Cortez Gooden.
KARE 11 reported Gooden “was prohibited from possessing firearms as the result of a 2008 2nd-degree felony assault with a deadly weapon conviction.”
They noted that Gooden sought to have his firearm rights restored in 2019 but First District Court Judge Dannia Edwards refused.
Breitbart News noted police officers Matthew Ruge and Paul Elmstrand and firefighter/paramedic Adam Finseth were shot and killed while responding to a domestic call at Gooden’s house shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday, February 18, 2024.
Gooden was found dead inside the home around 8 a.m. and KARE 11 pointed out his death was a suicide.
KEYC observed a Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension statement that Gooden “had several guns and a large amount of ammunition within the home” when he killed the officers and paramedic.
Mike Bloomberg affiliated Everytown for Gun Safety ranks Minnesota the #14 state in the Union for gun control strength.
Gabby Giffords gun control group explained Minnesota’s gun control laws include a red flag law, a permit-to-purchase requirement for handguns. regulations on ammunition sales, and a 30-day waiting period on handgun and “assault weapon” purchases, among other things.

Police: Wisconsin Pizza Hut Worker Kills Manager over $7,000 Inheritance
A Wisconsin Pizza Hut employee has been accused of killing his manager over a $7,000 inheritance check and leaving his body in the restaurant’s dumpster, local authorities said.
Just days after store manager Alex Stengel showed off his newly cashed check to his co-workers, employee Kavonn Ingram allegedly killed him and wheeled his body out to the trash, the South Milwaukee Police Department said.
***PRESS RELEASE***
Posted by South Milwaukee Police Department on Friday, February 16, 2024
According to the Friday press release, the body of Stengel, 55, was found on February 7, and Ingram, 31, was arrested on February 11.
“We believe money was the motive for this crime,” the department stated, adding that it is not looking for any other suspects.
Stengel was found shot with his throat slashed, WISN reported.
Police believe that the murder took place two days before Stengel’s body was found, and they reportedly have proof that after Ingram allegedly stashed the body, he clocked the victim out of Pizza Hut’s system, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
The store’s general manager also said he received messages from Stengel’s phone stating he did not feel well and was heading out for the day.
Stengel’s wallet, cellphone, and keys had all been removed from his possession before his body was found.
“Authorities said the text message was sent by the suspect to explain Stengel’s absence and, combined with the logging out of the computer, shows the suspect is familiar with Pizza Hut procedures and the individual workers at the restaurant,” the outlet reported.
Ingram has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide as a party to a crime with use of a dangerous weapon, hiding a corpse as a party to a crime, armed robbery as a party to a crime, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
He faces a mandatory life sentence if convicted of the homicide charge.

‘Repeated Dangerous Incidents’: California Library Closing Due to Criminal Activity
A California library is shutting down because rampant criminal activity has threatened patrons and employees.
The Contra Costa County Library said Friday that the decision to close the Antioch Community Library branch on Saturday was made after “repeated dangerous incidents,” NBC Bay Area reported.
In a social media post, the county library explained the branch will be closed until further notice:
During the closure, the library will be working to implement further security measures so we can reopen as soon as possible. These will take some time to complete, and we do not have an estimated date for reopening. We will continue to keep you updated on our progress.
Social media users shared their thoughts on the news. One person speculated the reason was “low police staffing, slow response time, and a soft-on-crime city.”
“Hopefully, this gets resolved soon. The public library is a very important place to any community,” another user commented, while someone else said, “OMG. Libraries are supposed to be our safe places. I am so sorry!”
According to KTVU, Antioch Mayor Lamar Thorpe claimed city officials did not see the decision coming.
“No one in the City of Antioch, including the police chief, was informed of safety concerns by Contra Costa County regarding the library,” he said.
The outlet noted authorities are planning to improve security measures so the library can get back up and running to serve the community.
The Contra Costa County Library said, “We apologize for the short notice and the inconvenience, but the safety of our patrons and staff is a top priority.”
Similarly, a 54-year-old Denny’s restaurant in Democrat-run Oakland recently closed permanently due to crime, according to Breitbart News.
In addition, the outlet reported in November that local bank branches in San Francisco were closing because the city suffers from economic decline, the result of which has been crime, homelessness, and a drug epidemic.

Lyanne MelendezPolice: Pennsylvania Judge Shoots Ex-Boyfriend in Head, Shot Ex-Husband 5 Years Earlier
A Pennsylvania judge is accused of shooting her ex-boyfriend in the head while he slept — just a few years after being cleared of criminal intent for shooting her ex-husband.
Michael McCoy, 54, is now blind in one eye after being shot in his Harrisburg-area home on February 9, reports the New York Post.
Dauphin County Magisterial District Judge Sonya M. McKnight, 57, was arrested Thursday and has been charged with first-degree attempted murder and aggravated assault, court records show.
A Susquehanna Township Police arrest affidavit obtained by the outlet stated that McCoy had made “numerous” attempts to end the year-long relationship with his live-in girlfriend when she allegedly tried to kill him.
“McCoy had returned home from a tavern to find McKnight relaxing on his couch in her pajamas and again told her she needed to leave, saying he would enlist the help of her mother to get her out of his home if he had to,” the Post reported of that Friday’s events. “She allegedly agreed to go.”
“Michael McCoy stated that it was like she finally understood that it was over,” police said in the affidavit.
McCoy then went to bed around 11:00 p.m. with the understanding that McKnight realized that the pair were broken up.
Sometime later that night, he woke up with a “massive head pain” and could not see.
While he screamed in pain, McKnight reportedly came into the bedroom and asked, “Mike, what did you do to yourself?”
The judge called 911 shortly before 1:00 a.m. reporting McCoy’s injuries, but police said she “could not explain what happened and stated that she was sleeping and heard him screaming.”
A gunshot wound to McCoy’s right temple that had exited his left temple was found after first responders rushed him to the hospital.
The bullet left him blind in his right eye.
The affidavit also stated that a gun registered to McKnight was discovered at the scene, and her hands were positive for gunshot residue.
McCoy also asserted multiple times that he had not shot himself.
The ex-lovers both said that no one else was home at the time of the incident.
While McKnight claimed to police that she did not leave the house that night, this was disputed with footage from a neighbor’s security camera showing the judge leaving the home at some point.
According to McCoy, his ex-girlfriend may have followed him to the tavern before he returned.
McKnight has since been suspended from her judiciary duties and is being held at the Dauphin County Prison with a $300,000 bail.
To avoid a prosecutorial conflict of interest, the case will be heard in the neighboring county of Cumberland.
In August 2019, McKnight was cleared of criminal intent in the shooting of her estranged husband, Enoch McKnight, reported PennLive.
Following a long series of domestic disputes, police calls, and protection orders, the judge shot her husband in the groin while he was helping her move furniture at her home.
Upon reviewing the case, the attorney general’s office declined to file criminal charges, citing self-defense.
“We can confirm the investigation is closed, and no charges have been filed,” said Jacklin Rhoads, an office spokeswoman.
“The Office of Attorney General completed a careful review of the evidence in this case, including but not limited to interviewing all witnesses, analyzing phone data and records, reviewing crime scene evidence as well as surveillance and reenactment videos,” she added.
“We found that Ms. McKnight acted in self-defense, which is why our office did not file charges.”
Mcknight faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted of her new first-degree attempted murder charge, according to the New York Post.
Leading Black Church Pours Salt on Jewish Wounds with ‘Mass Genocide’ Claim
The Council of Bishops of the American Methodist Episcopal Church (AME), a leading church among African Americans, issued an extraordinary statement Thursday accusing Israel of “mass genocide,” exacerbating a rift between black Americans and Jews.
The statement reads, in part:
Israel has trapped 1.6 million desperate Palestinians in the southern Gaza city called Rafah. Most of them are women and children. They have denied them access to food, water, shelter, and health care. After this torture, they plan to murder them. The United States of America will have likely paid for the weapons they use. This must not be allowed to happen.
The Council of Bishops of the African Methodist Episcopal Church calls on the United States Government to immediately withdraw all funding and other support from Israel. Since 1954, Israel has shown a willful disregard for the human dignity of Palestinians. Since October 7, 2023, in retaliation for the brutal murder of 1139 Israeli citizens by Hamas, Israel has murdered over 28,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children. The United States is supporting this mass genocide. This
must not be allowed to continue. There must be an immediate and permanent ceasefire between these two communities.
The statement also refers to Jesus Christ as a “Palestinian Jew” — reflecting the false claim of Palestinian nationalists that Jesus identified as “Palestinian.” The term “Palestine” was not used until a century later, after a failed revolt by Jews against Romans.
Israel is a multiracial society, one in which non-European Israelis are in the majority. Israel also rescued the Ethiopian Jewish community from famine and oppression, marking the first time in history in which black people were brought en masse out of Africa, but to freedom and not to slavery. Today, black Israelis serve — and fall — alongside Israelis of every other color, and of every other faith, in a fight to save their country from the genocidal aims of the Palestinian Hamas terrorists that attacked them.
The statement by the AME Church will pour salt on the wounds of October 7 for many Jews — and re-open old wounds in the black-Jewish relationship. Many Jews participated in the civil rights struggles of the 1950s and 1960s, but were alienated by the racial nationalism adopted by some black leaders in the years that followed. In 2020, many Jews and Jewish organizations supported the Black Lives Matter movement, only to be betrayed when that movement supported Palestinians against Israel.
