It is time that the media and other Democrats learned about correlation and causation.
To detract from the obvious increasing “migrant crime,” the Democrats are now taking credit for a “historic” one year drop in homicides in 2023. I would love to see which policies they implemented that they believe caused the drop, because it certainly is not their open border policies, no-cash bail policies, or the pro-crime prosecutors who let career criminals roam the streets. Here are the details, from ABC News:

The homicide rate in the United States is expected to plummet nearly 13% compared to 2022, meaning more than 2,000 fewer people were the victims of homicide this year, Jeff Asher, a national crime analyst, told ABC News.

It’s the largest one-year decline,’ said Asher, co-founder of AH Datalytics and a former crime analyst for the CIA and the New Orleans Police Department. ‘It’s cities of every size, it’s the suburbs, it’s rural counties, tiny cities, it’s large cities. It’s really a national decline.’

But wait, I thought they told us that more guns equals more murders? So how are murders down while gun sales are near a record high? Here’s the data:
The 4th Quarter 2023 (October, November and December) total came in at more than 4.7 million. It represents a 4.6 percent increase in sales over Q4 2022 and the 2023 firearm sales total of nearly 15.9 million is only slightly lower than the 2022 total of 16.4 million. But it’s still a year for the record books.
There were apparently 2,000 fewer murders at the end of 2023, while gun ownership increased from 37% in 2019 to 42% in 2023. If there is no correlation they can’t assume causation.
But, where is there correlation?
The southern border of the United States is listed as the deadliest in the world. Joe Biden campaigned on open borders and issued a massive number of executive orders to open the border as soon as he took office. There is clearly a correlation between the number of deaths at the border (and “migrant crime” in the interior) and Biden’s actions. If there is a correlation you can assume causation as long as the trend is consistent.
There are more deaths at the southern border alone than people who have died in “mass shootings” in each of the last four years; but the media and other Democrats only seem to care about deaths that push an agenda.
Biden could substantially reduce the danger at the border by just taking out his pen and reversing his initial executive orders, but he won’t. That certainly makes it seem like he doesn’t care.
The number of overdose deaths has gone up almost 60% since 2019—and has stayed high. (That number was 70,630, and around half involved synthetic opioids.) In 2023, the CDC recorded more than 112,000 overdose deaths. (2022 saw a “record high” in overdose deaths, followed by an even higher “record high” last year.) There is a substantial correlation between the number of deaths from illicit drugs, to the open border policies of Biden. If there is a substantial correlation you can assume causation. Again, Biden could certainly reduce the amount of drugs with many strokes of his pen.
Instead of the media, historians, and other Democrats recognizing what actually causes a decrease in crime, they hold fast to the agenda, pretending they care while people die, and act like Biden is competent, while targeting Trump every day for destruction. It is pathetic that anyone thinks Michelle Obama or any other like-minded politician would be a good replacement for Biden—we need Trump!

Time to Deep-Six the Democrats' Brand of Democracy
The Democrats warn us almost daily that re-electing Donald Trump in 2024 will spell the end of democracy. But, technically, do we even live in a country whose constitution established us as a "democracy"?
When Benjamin Franklin left the Constitutional Convention of 1787, he was greeted by a woman who asked him point-blank, "Well, doctor, what have we got? A republic or a monarchy?" Mr. Franklin's terse response: "A republic, madam -- if you can keep it."
It is significant that Franklin did not say that the form of government that the Founders created was a democracy. We are, in fact, as most of us know (or should certainly know), a constitutional republic.
We are not a country where 51% of citizens can outvote the other 49%, then tell them what they can and cannot do. We are a representative government with checks and balances built in as guaranteed safeguards against a majority of strong-willed individuals lording it over the meek, timid, and disadvantaged. Both majority and minority have a true say in how every citizen is governed.
The First Amendment guaranteeing free speech has always been key if we hope to "keep the republic." Once that is co-opted -- then controlled and censored -- an unsuspecting public will be easily swayed into thinking in line with whatever ensures that an elite few can gain and maintain power. Manipulating the masses is the goal.
Election season is always ripe for the misuse of our First Amendment. If the leftist elites that currently control the many facets of our culture -- the press, academia, entertainment, business and, yes, even many religious institutions -- continue unabated, the noble idea and ideals upon which America was established will soon become a regrettable lost cause of the past.
Obviously, two powerful forces remain in the battle to control America through the presidency in this year's election. On one side, the Democrats with their twisted definition of America, aided by a Deep State, far-left, globalist, RINO, and woke contingency; on the other, all those pushing back, whether part of the America First and MAGA crowd or the myriad other freedom-loving citizens of all stripes awake to the evil that has accelerated over these past three years.
Since the 2020 presidential contest, which was declared by the powers that be "the most secure election in American history," there is a majority of citizens who have serious doubts about the validity of the result. Another percentage naively believe that that sort of third-world, election-stealing shenanigans could never happen here. And yet another, smaller group knows for a fact that the election was not secure in the least, because they themselves were flat-out involved in rigging and stealing it. On November 3rd through 6th of 2020, a group of Democrat operatives blatantly and quite effectively ended the concept of free and fair elections, thus negating one of the keystones of self-rule by We the People.
Building upon that 2020 "win," Democrats and their tyrannical gang have since targeted anyone who stands in the way of their fundamental transformation of this country, President Trump chief among their adversaries. As Trump so often reminds us, the Left is not after him, they are after independent, free-thinking, non-compliant Americans. He's just standing in their way.
And stand he has.
After everything the Left has manufactured to take Trump out, every sort of imagined or concocted crime, Trump still stands. And, undeterred, fights back. He refuses to simply fade away. Democrats and their machine on the left roll out their revenge and retribution daily on Trump because he had the audacity to run for president in the first place. Then to win. Then to win a second time.
From the primary trail over the past several months, Trump has also highlighted that, besides honest elections, another crucial facet necessary for a country to exist as a sovereign nation is a secure border. We can all clearly see what the Biden administration has allowed to transpire at the southern border. Millions of illegal aliens have simply strolled across our wide-open borders and are now who-knows-where throughout our country. Does this indicate a government that is concerned about sovereignty or security in any way, shape, or form?
Other traits indicative of the Democrats' brand of democracy include publicly labeling political adversaries as "domestic terrorists"; using excessive force and exaggerating charges when arresting dissenters; imprisoning protestors, such as those involved on January 6, without charges and due process; championing mob violence and looting from the progressive far Left; and so many additional tactics that might more readily apply to fascism than democracy.
All these destructive features touted by the Biden administration help to reveal the democracy to which the Democrats refer. And we need to squelch it sooner rather than later.
November 5th would be just in the nick of time.

Kathy Hochul Moves Forward with Plan to Prioritize Illegal Immigrants for NY State Jobs
New York’s Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul is moving forward with her plan to retool the Civil Service Commission to put illegal aliens at the head of the line for state jobs.
At the end of January, Hochul approved a plan for the state to hire 4,000 illegal aliens for entry-level state jobs. Not only is the state preparing to put illegals at the head of the line, but the plan Hochul approved eliminates several requirements for illegals to be eligible for the jobs.

The rules requiring applicants to take the civil service exam and to have a high school diploma have been eliminated.
The aim is to get illegals into state jobs faster once they get approved work permits.
The Civil Service Commission approved the plan on January 18, according to Spectrum News:
Hochul also claimed that she hears from business owners all across the state pleading with her to approve illegals for jobs.
“Hotel owners and restaurant owners coming to me: ‘Can you send some of the migrants up here? We need them.’ I hear this in every corner of the state,” the governor said.
Naturally, New York City’s Democrat Mayor Eric Adams also favors the plan to lower the bar to get illegals into government and private sector jobs quickly.

“I would love to get migrants and asylum seekers to help with the lifeguard shortage. We’ve been successful in getting almost 30,000 people to [file] applications, including work authorization, asylum, TPS — we want more,” he said.
In selling the plan to put illegals ahead of citizens, New York State Senate Labor Committee chair Jessica Ramos, a Democrat, conflated “New Yorkers” with the migrants for whom she was advocating.
“I think that every single New Yorker that can and wants to work should be able to work, especially, I think, when we start looking at our state jobs and how many of them are readily available,” Ramos said.
She also pushed higher taxes on “the rich” to help pay for the new jobs she is trying to fill.
“In a state where we see that income inequality is worse than ever — we had 120 billionaires in New York state prior to the pandemic, we’re up to 135 today — that only means that more money is being hoarded,” she said. “It is not being circulated in our communities,” Ramos exclaimed.
Meanwhile, “the rich” are already fleeing New York in droves as taxes continue to soar and the state makes businesses feel unwelcome with an avalanche of regulations and requirements. The New York Post reported in late 2023 that the state lost ten more billionaires to Florida as New York continues to target high-income earners with confiscatory tax rates and anti-business policies.
The trend is not new, either. A 2022 study found that New York City lost another ten percent of taxpayers who earn more than $750,000.
New York City is not just losing “the rich,” either. Even Adams noted in January that the Big Apple is “hemorrhaging” the working class.

CE: 275 Previously-Convicted Illegal Alien Sex Offenders Nabbed in One 12-Day Sweep
In one 12-day period this month, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers apprehended 275 convicted illegal alien sex offenders across the U.S.
From February 5-16, ERO arrested about two dozen illegal alien convicted sex offenders a day during a nationwide sweep, ICE reports. The operation follows a similar effort in January, in which ERO officers apprehended 171 illegal aliens with pending charges or convictions for murder, homicide or assault against children, in addition to sexual offenses.
ERO apprehensions over the two-month period include a range of sexual offenses, such as:
- A 26-year-old citizen of El Salvador in Houston, Texas, convicted of felony aggravated sexual assault with a firearm.
- A 44-year-old citizen of Mexico in the Bronx, New York, convicted of felony attempted sexual abuse 1st degree: person incapable of consent/physically helpless.
- A 71-year-old citizen of Mexico in Pittsburg, California, convicted of felony continuous sexual abuse of a child.
- A 58-year-old citizen of El Salvador in Gaithersburg, Maryland, convicted of felony sodomy first degree and felony sex abuse first degree.
- A 25-year-old citizen of Mexico in Denver, Colorado, convicted of felony child prostitution – soliciting.
- A 34-year-old citizen of Guatemala in Gloucester who was recently convicted locally of indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14 – who had been released by the Gloucester District Court, despite ERO Boston having filed an immigration detainer against him.
Unsurprisingly, ERO apprehension counts in the February sweep were high in self-proclaimed illegal immigrant “sanctuary” cities in the border state of California. The San Francisco ERO office reported 41 arrests of illegal alien sex offenders, while the Los Angeles ERO announced 36 apprehensions from the operation.
Not all apprehensions were in southwest border states, however. Many were made in sanctuary cities in other parts of the U.S. For example, Colorado’s ERO made 25 arrests, including 19 in Denver. And, in the far northwest, the Seattle ERO nabbed 12 illegal alien sex offenders during February’s 12-day operation.
Nationally, in fiscal year (FY) 2023, ERO arrested 4,390 illegal aliens with sex and sexual assault charges or convictions – an average of 12 per day.

Why, no matter the topic, can you guarantee that the leftist will see the downtrodden and guiltless, and hate him for his situation? (Every sensible American ought to stop and ponder this.) Case in point is April Rubin writing for Axios:
Arizona Republicans are advancing a bill that would allow people to legally kill someone accused of attempting to trespass or actively trespassing on their property.
The big picture: The legislation, which is expected to be vetoed if it reaches the state’s Democratic governor, would legalize the murder of undocumented immigrants, who often have to cross ranches that sit on the state’s border with Mexico.
Now, bless her heart, but Rubin didn’t get it quite right, and left out some pertinent information; here is the actual text from the bill itself:
What this bill would actually do, is amend existing law to extend the Castle Doctrine to include all of a person’s property (land), not just their abode; it doesn’t seek to amend the existing law that defines what justifies the use of deadly force, as noted in “13-405 and 13-406” of the state’s code. Currently, you may only use deadly force against a trespasser (as long as it’s legally justified per the aforementioned code) if they’re actually inside a dwelling structure, but for ranchers along the border who tend to cattle upon open pastures, the current law leaves them vulnerable to criminal charges.
Okay, but beside the fact that she totally missed the mark on the actual factual breakdown of the proposed legislation, Rubin used a phrase I found rather astounding: “legalize the murder” as if legalizing murder is now suddenly a bad thing. Because before, leftist regressives like Rubin told us that legalized murder was actually a “right to privacy” issue, a women’s rights battle, reproductive justice and/or freedom, etc.
In fact, I’ve even heard many of these legalized murder proponents accuse a baby conceived by the formers’ consensual actions as being… a trespasser, simply because that little one has the audacity to exist while unwanted.
Then, then that mother has the absolute right to deadly force, because her life is threatened; with a baby, how can continue to celebrate her sexual liberation? “Deadly force” is completely acceptable once her “single living” lifestyle (read, self-serving whoredom) hangs in the balance. As long as the intruder is… a baby, who had absolutely no involvement in his/her creation, then it’s perfectly acceptable to go scorched earth.
Once that that innocent baby’s presence feels like… an infringement, the leftist regressive has zero qualms about using deadly force to neutralize the perceived threat—but not with bullet like a rancher would have, the leftist is happy to butcher this “trespasser,” ripping off his limbs or face, letting him bleed out, and eventually expire in a pile of body parts. Oh, and after this little trespasser is dealth with, the leftist regressive throws a party to celebrate his demise.
Ignorance is apparently bliss, but we conservatives wouldn’t know anything about that, and it’s not bliss for those of us who are forced to coexist with this painfully ignorant crowd.
Progressives melt into fits of hyperbolic (and inaccurate) hysterics over the possibility that Americans might be legally sanctioned to protect themselves from harm, while completely oblivious to the laughably hypocritical position they hold on abortion.

Obviously, this provides an open door for terrorists to come here. As most will remember, the 9/11 fanatics -- pretending not to be fanatics -- came to the U.S. legally on temporary visas. Today, radicals of all types can just walk into the country unimpeded … or marginally inconvenienced at best.
Hundreds on the terrorist watchlists have been “encountered” at the Southern border, which means others made it through without being stumbled upon. Plus, it’s likely the number of terrorists not on the watch list -- extremists unknown to the U.S., i.e., pretending not to be -- is orders of magnitude larger. As a result, it’s almost certain that thousands of bad actors have come through America’s unsecured borders.
Should Americans be concerned that some might have brought weapons with them? Automatic weapons? Biological weapons? Chemical weapons? Cyber weapons? Directed energy weapons? Small nuclear weapons? The possibilities are endless and with thousands of “got aways” how can anyone know?
Pathogens -- weaponized or unweaponized -- would be high on the list based on how easy it would be to bring them into the country. Illegal aliens have brought innumerable diseases here that are not normally found in the U.S., but it’s unknown how many concealed bioweapons they might have transported. We may find out sometime soon and the targets could include our food supply -- crops and livestock -- not just people.
Regardless of the weapons utilized -- one type or many different types -- the consequences could be catastrophic, making 9/11 seem small-scale by comparison. And if a coordinated assault occurs across the U.S., think what China, Russia, Iran, North Korea and other enemy nations might do while American national security assets are overwhelmed here. Most are testing America’s resolve already.
Hmmm! Could that mean the recent influx of military-aged Chinese males at the southern border isn’t because they’re escaping persecution back home? Surely, any card-carrying members of the Chinese Communist Party would have presented those credentials to officials at the U.S. border, right? You bet!
So, when attacks happen, who will have caused them? The Demo/rat Commandless-in-Chief and those pulling his puppet strings!
- Demo/rat demolition of the U.S. economy, a.k.a., Bidenomics: As noted in my Ayn Rand-prescience blog about Bidenomics last year, “‘You can avoid [the brain-dead] reality’ of destroying America’s energy independence, ‘but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding [that] reality.’ Clearly, increases in gas prices were going to accompany this executive duncemanship [cancelling oil and gas projects]. However, once that domino fell, a whole cascade of additional ones tumbled immediately thereafter. Higher gas costs led to supply chain problems which created product shortages that drove up consumer prices thereby providing a vessel for … what? Inflation!” Thus, Bidenomics sent the country down the path where working Americans can’t afford food and other essentials. Who caused it? The very same Demo/rat Commandless-in-Chief and his puppet masters!
- Demo/rat demolition of law and order, a.k.a., Demo/rat facilitation of crime: Moving to the local level, lawlessness is the norm in most cities led by Demo/rats and that has been true for a few years now. Defund the police and similar moronic actions have plagued numerous cities, yet the Demo/rats in charge never fix the problems. They just move to cashless bail or whatever is next on the stupid list.
Who caused it? Demo/rat mayors!
Who else contributed? Demo/rat city councils and public defenders (sic), today’s public adversaries!
- Demo/rat demolition of civility -- the woke acronyms: Technically speaking, these were not a product of the Demo/rat party; the efforts were led by “socialist-loving “intellectuals’” within America’s universities. Nonetheless, they’re all registered Demo/rats. Thus, it’s the same difference and the Demo/rat party has blessed each and every acronym along the way.
- CRT: Critical race theory is total B.S. and those who pushed it were and are, in fact, the racists. Although CRT is no longer advocated publicly, Demo/rats are still closet supporters, i.e., closet racists. They just change the terminology when the acronym of the day -- e.g., CRT --is proven to be totally bogus. “White privilege” hasn’t been abandoned yet, but when it is, some other racist nomenclature will follow.
Who are the champions? Demo/rats nationwide!
- ESG: Environmental, social and governance “principles” (sic) have fallen out of favor among mainstream Demo/rats. Of course, that only happened because of financial return problems on Wall Street. Billions were pulled from money bleeding ESG funds. Investors tend not to favor losing propositions.
Obviously, that doesn’t mean anything has changed with the Demo/rat’s environmental, social and governance agendas; they just stopped using ESG as the acronym.

- DEI: Diversity, equity and inclusion has been one of the biggest hiring boondoggles ever. As noted in my American Thinker article a year ago (https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2023/02/is_it_dei_ied_or_die_yes_it_is.html), “When America’s woke progressives successfully snookered the nation into accepting equity (the impractical pursuits of equal outcomes) as a replacement for equality (equal opportunity) the ballgame changed, majorly. The topline issue is no longer about hiring the applicant with the best credentials to do the work. Today, training and experience for a job barely count with DEI employers.”
And what will equal outcomes do to any organization’s bottom line eventually?Turn profits into loses … the path to bankruptcy.

- Demo/rat demolition of patriotism and Americanism: Those two terms are nonexistent within today’s Demo/rat party. Truthfully, though, they’ve been missing from the Demo/rat vocabulary since at least when I came home from Vietnam in 1969 proud of my combat service and that of my brothers-in-arms. The socialist/communist Demo/rats openly disparaged anyone who was patriotic back then, and that condemnation has grown ever since.

Along with shipping the illegal aliens to the Air Force base, Romero also suggested that the city should also send them to Phoenix as federal funding is set to run out in late March.
“What we are about to experience with street releases is homelessness on steroids,” Pima County Administrator Jan Lesher said, according to the Arizona Daily Star.
Lesher added that Biden’s border crisis is taking money away from Tucson residents.
“But every dollar spent helping legally processed asylum seekers move on to their destination cities will be a dollar we can’t spend on county residents who are struggling financially to afford adequate housing, or who are suffering from mental illness or drug and alcohol addiction,” Lesher said.
Meanwhile, officials in Pima County say that the migrants are costing the county a million dollars a month to house them, feed them, and take care of them.
Officials say that they are dealing with 1,000 new border crossers a day, according to KJZZ FM 91.5.
The threat of the Biden administration busing illegal aliens across the country is no mere expectation. Fox News reporter Bill Melugin was shocked to find buses operated by the federal government dropping off dozens of illegal immigrants right in front of his eyes as he reported from San Diego on Friday.
Like Tucson, the San Diego area is also quickly running out of funds to house the illegal immigrants. Bill Wells, the Republican mayor of nearby El Cajon, California, told Fox News that “100,000 migrants come across the San Diego border” in the last few months alone.
“A lot of those have been absorbed by this county shelter that used taxpayer money,” Wells added. “They asked for $3 million and they spent over $6 million and now they say they’re out of money. So, we’re going to see migrants congregating in our streets.”
Wells went on to say, “I think it’s going to become a pretty serious problem pretty quickly.”
He also noted that things are escalating.
“The Border Patrol tells us we’re going to go from about 300 drop-offs a day to maybe a thousand drop-offs a day,” he said.
Wells also blasted the way the government has been wasting tax dollars to care for illegal aliens.
“They spent up to $8,000 per person per month to put somebody up in a hotel, and they seem to have no problem spending that kind of money. It ruins the neighborhoods, it destroys the hotels, it destroys our security infrastructure. And it’s really bad for everybody,” Wells said.
The most recent numbers show that nearly 7.3 million illegal aliens have crossed the southern border since Joe Biden took office, and that is the number that can be determined. Perhaps as many 1.17 million “got aways” have crossed the border in the last three years.
