Chicago: 54 People Shot Over Weekend – New Policy Stifles Cops’ Ability to Chase Criminals
(CNS News) -- Fifty-four people were shot in Chicago over the weekend, leaving eight dead and 46 wounded. Police Superintendent David Brown acknowledged the spike in violent crime and said, “Every neighborhood is seeking more and more police officers right now.”
Brown has pledged increased police presence in Chicago’s public transportation system but has faced criticism for a recent policy change that some claim will “handcuff” the police. There have been 399 homicides in Chicago so far in 2022.
Over the weekend, Chicago police reported that 54 people were shot in 45 separate shooting incidents. These incidents occurred between 6:00 p.m Friday, August 6 and midnight Sunday, August 7. The first fatal shooting took place on early Saturday morning, killing a 29-year old man who was riding the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Red Line.
Eight people were killed by these shootings and 46 were wounded. At least three of the fatal shooters are still unknown to police as of this morning. These victims ranged in age from 26 to 43 years old, with one victim’s age unknown.
Among the non-fatal shootings, two teenage boys, ages 15 and 16, were shot after being approached on the sidewalk at 1:00 a.m. on Saturday. A 55-year-old man was also injured inside a residence while sitting on a couch when a bullet came through a front window.
Seventy percent of the shooting victims were shot at a time between midnight and 6:00 a.m., according to the shooting incidents with identified timelines.
At a Saturday press conference following the fatal shooting on the CTA Red Line, Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown pledged, “We’re adding another contingent to the CTA tomorrow.”
Brown also said “violent crime is up and that’s why we’re adding more resources to the CTA,” and added, “Every neighborhood is seeking more and more police officers right now.”
Last weekend, Chicago saw a similar figure of 48 people shot and five deaths, marking the end of July, which had 74 total deaths by homicide, including 71 gun deaths.
Chicago has had 16 homicides so far this month and 399 so far this year. In 2021, there were a total of 794 homicides.
Chicago police data released last week show that murder is down 16% compared to 2021, but up 30% compared to 2019. Overall violent crime is up in Chicago by 35% this year compared to 2021, with theft up 66% and motor vehicle percent up 51%.
Superintendent Brown faced criticism earlier this summer, when his department released a new policy that limits when police officers are allowed to engage in foot pursuits. The new policy requires that the chase only be done “if they believe a person is committing or is about to commit a felony, a Class A misdemeanor such as domestic battery, or a serious traffic offense that could risk injuring others, such as drunken driving or street racing.”
This policy was enacted a year after two Chicago police chases ended in the deaths of a 13-year-old suspect and a 22-year-old, both of whom were fleeing from police and were armed.
The 22-year-old, Anthony Alvarez, was shot and killed by officers who recognized him from a previous failed traffic stop. Alvarez carried a gun in one hand and his phone in the other when the officers began chasing him. During the pursuit, Alvarez slipped and fell, resulting in a crouched position. This led one of the officers to fear Alvarez was waiting to “ambush him,” and shot Alvarez in the back and thigh.
The 13-year-old, Adam Toledo, was killed while fleeing a police officer who was responding to reports of gunshots. Bodycam footage shows that shortly after exiting his vehicle the officer began a foot pursuit of Toledo, who was holding a gun. Toledo, while trying to get through a gap in a fence, appears to drop a handgun and raise his hands in less than a second before the officer fires one shot then begins to render aid.
These deaths sparked outrage and many believe they inspired the change in foot pursuit policy, enacted in June 2022.
Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx said of the two incidents, that she had “deep, deep concerns about the foot pursuit policy in both of these cases but, in particular, what happened with Mr. Alvarez.”
Foxx said of the Alvarez case, “it is important to highlight that the officers themselves created the conditions which the use of deadly force became necessary.”
Neither officer was charged, the family of Alvarez believes this is in part because the previous foot pursuit policy was insufficient, according to their lawsuit against the Chicago Police Department.
Under the new policy, it is believed police would not have been permitted to pursue Alvarez for a number of reasons: they knew where he lived, he was suspected of a minor offense, and officers are now barred from “provoking” a chase.
Criticisms of the new policy come from those who think it too greatly limits the police’s power and from those who think it does not limit it enough.
“These new policies always attack the police. We’re not clairvoyant. We can’t read the criminal’s mind,” Puerto Rican Police Association President and former Cicero Police Sergeant Waldemar Cruz said. “All it does is to handcuff the police, don’t let them do their job. Continue to restrict our ability to make our communities safer because some people in the community want to make criminals [out] as victims when they are offenders.”
Gianno Caldwell, whose 18-year-old brother was killed in Chicago this summer, wrote in a commentary, “I can tell you that criminals love the policy shift that’s taken place over the years in Chicago, where leaders have mistaken necessary criminal justice reform with soft-on-crime policies that are endangering the lives of residents from every neighborhood and demographic.”
“Chicago now has a policy mandating the police call their supervisor before chasing a suspect in their car. In other words, a person could commit an egregious crime and potentially get away with it because an officer has to reach a boss on the phone first. There’s also a new foot-pursuit policy in place that prevents officers from chasing suspects in many situations,” wrote Caldwell.
Conversely, Attorney General Kwame Raoul said the policy was developed too quickly and was insufficient and the ACLU of Illinois and community groups said the policy was too vague and gave officers too much discretion to chase someone they suspected of a crime.
CHICAGO HUCKSTER BARACK OBAMA HAS FROM DAY ONE BEEN UP THE ASSES OF BILLIIONAIRES FOR OPEN BORDERS AND BANKSTERS FOR BOTTOMLESS BAILOUTS. WHAT DID THESE PIGS KNOW ABOUT THE OBOMB THAT IT'S TAKEN THE REST OF AMERICA TO CONNECT THE DOTS ON THIS SOCIOPATH GAMER LAWYER BARACK OBAMA?!?
BILLIONAIRE SOROS IS AN ADVOCATE FOR OPEN BORDERS TO HELP DIVISIONIST OBOMB DESTROY AMERICA, AS HE DID MIDDLE AMERICA, AS A PATHWAY TO A THIRD TERM.
The main objective of “political animals” like Obama and the Clintons is to get elected; it’s not to fix a broken America, nor to protect her. There are people who govern and there are people who campaign; Obama and the Clintons are the latter. Just look at the huge Republican electoral gains under Obama and the Clintons. It’s amazing that Democrats who still care about their party still support the very people who have brought it down.
“Of course, one of the main reasons the nation is now “divided, resentful and angry” is because race-baiting, Islamist, class warrior Barack Hussein Obama was president for eight long years. MATTHEW VADUM
George Soros Defends His Support of ‘Reform Prosecutors’ in Wall Street Journal Op-Ed
(CNSNews.com) - Amid a nationwide crime surge hitting American cities, foreign-born billionaire philanthropist George Soros published an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal taking responsibility for the installment of lenient district attorneys and vowed to continue supporting them.
On July 31, George Soros penned an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal entitled, “Why I Support Reform Prosecutors,” in which he makes the argument for his years of supporting what he calls “reform-minded prosecutors” in large cities across the United States such as New York, Baltimore, Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
Soros decries what he calls “demagoguery and divisive partisan attacks” that “dominate the debate” surrounding the issue of crime in the United States. Soros states that among the primary purposes of government is “to ensure public safety.”
“Yet our system is rife with injustices that make us all less safe. The idea that we need to choose between justice and safety is false,” writes Soros. The injustices he points to are the disproportionate levels of incarceration between racial groups as well as the overfunding and overcrowding of our prisons.
In his vision for a new system that values both safety and justice, Soros proposes spending more money on crime prevention “strategies that work.” These strategies include spending money on youth job programs, mental health services, and education for people serving time. Additionally, Soros writes that his agenda includes both stopping what he calls “the criminalization of poverty and mental illness,” as well as treating drug addiction “as a disease, not a crime.”
Soros acknowledges the common criticisms of his efforts, saying that “some politicians and pundits have tried to blame recent spikes in crime on the policies of reform-minded prosecutors.” In Soros’ view, these claims are unfounded:
“The research I’ve seen says otherwise. The most rigorous academic study, analyzing data across 35 jurisdictions, shows no connection between the election of reform-minded candidates and local crime rates. In fact, violent crime in recent years has generally been increasing more quickly in jurisdictions without reform-minded prosecutors. Murder rates have been rising fastest in some Republican states led by tough-on-crime politicians.”
Soros does not specify the name of what he claims to be “the most rigorous academic study,” nor does he provide a link to it.
He goes on to argue that the recent spikes in crime across the country come as a result of other factors, rather than the election of the prosecutors he has supported nationwide. The three main causes that Soros claims come from “serious scholars,” which he does not name, are “a disturbing rise in mental illness among young people due to the isolation imposed by Covid lockdowns, a pullback in policing in the wake of public criminal-justice reform protests, and increases in gun trafficking.”
Soros insists that he has supported these reform-minded prosecutors “transparently,” and assures the public that he has “no intention of stopping.”
“The funds I provide enable sensible reform-minded candidates to receive a hearing from the public. Judging by the results, the public likes what it’s hearing,” Soros concludes.
There are currently at least 75 prosecutors across the country that are supported by either Soros’ campaign contributions or Soros-backed
infrastructure groups, according to a report from the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund.
Soros supports candidates for district attorney across the country through “a series of shell organizations, affiliates, and pass-through committees.” “Soros-linked prosecutors oversee 20% of Americans,” the report finds.
Many of these progressive prosecutors have been accused of backing the criminals more than the public, and being too lenient with regards to punishing criminal offenses. Soros-backed District Attorney Chesa Boudin of San Francisco was voted out of office in a specially-held recall election this June as crime rates skyrocketed around the city.
In mid-July, 715,833 residents of Los Angeles signed a petition to hold a similar recall vote for their Soros-linked DA George Gascon. He will be removed from his position if over 50% of voters vote to recall him, which is what happened in San Francisco.
In an initiative called “Rogue Prosecutors,” the Heritage Foundation seeks to keep track of Soros-linked prosecutors’ soft-on-crime policies and the effects they have on local crime rates.
Actress Katharine McPhee Blames ‘Woke’ Voters for Crime Wave in Beverly Hills
In an Instagram story last week, McPhee lamented the “sad state” that Los Angeles has become in recent years as she shared a story about three men who beat up and mugged an elderly man of his phone, money, and watch.
“This is literally my worry and thought every time I go out now. We need Rick Caruso,” Kat wrote. “I blame every single woke voter. Seniors getting beat up in [Beverly Hills] while walking. Keep voting for this. What a sad state this city is in.”
McPhee then shared a text message from her friend, Sara Mann, who advised, “Don’t wear your Rolex.”
“No rings no watches,” McPhee replied to Sara.
“This is the real life text/convos you have with fam and friends about living in LA now. We need Rick Caruso,” she added. “What’s this world coming to?”
McPhee then shared a photo of herself holding both hands in the air to show her followers she no longer wears expensive jewelry in public.
“No rings watches or anything out in LA anymore,” she wrote.
The notoriously liberal rich elite of Los Angeles began shifting their tune on the issue of violent crime this past year after several violent confrontations in wealthy neighborhoods like Beverly Hills, leading to the rise of billionaire Rick Caruso. As Breitbart News reported, several celebrities have found themselves in near-violent or all-out violent altercations in recent months:
In February, a man was arrested after targeting White Lotus and Baywatch star Alexandra Daddario’s house with a loaded gun. The gunman went to the actress’ home, where he stood outside, screaming.
Also in February, fashion mogul, model, and tattoo icon Kat Von D’s Los Angeles home was burglarized by an intruder who said he wanted to use the bathroom. Von D had also recently announced that she would be leaving California and moving to Indiana part-time due to the state’s “tyrannical government overreach.”
That same month, rapper Kodak Black was shot in the leg outside of an afterparty hosted by singer Justin Bieber in Los Angeles.
In November, television host and actor Terrence Jenkins — better known as Terrence J — narrowly escaped an armed follow-home robbery attempt in which a gunman shot at him.
The crime wave comes as George Soros-backed prosecutor George Gascon faces a possible recall election due to his soft-on-crime policies, which forced him into rescinding the city’s zero-bail policy that put criminals back on the street before trial.
For her part, Katharine McPhee has taken an increasingly anti-woke stance in recent months, previously scolding Democrat favorite Stacey Abrams for taking a photo maskless in front of masked-up children at a Georgia school.
“What the actual hell… politicians at their finest. Mask up the children and you yourself sit without a mask. The hypocrisy continues,” McPhee wrote on her Instagram story. “I’m sure she will say… ‘but I had my mask in my hand!’”

WHAT WAS THE OBOMB DOING WHEN SEC. OF STATE BRIBES SUCKER HILLARY AND PARASITE JOE BIDEN WAS RAKING IN THE BRIBES?
https://globalistbarackobama.blogspot.com/2022/07/sociopath-gamer-lawyer-barack-obama-i.html
“Then we suffered the rattling election of Barack Obama, whose active membership in a white-, Jewish-, and America-hating church was well known to the electorate. His close personal relationship with the likes of his adored Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Louis Farrakhan was no secret. Obama was open about his goals. He told us he was out to "fundamentally transform America" and the world.” ALAN BERGSTEIN
“Obama’s new home in Washington has been described as the “nerve center” of the anti-Trump opposition. Former attorney general Eric Holder (CONSIDERED BY JUDICIAL WATCH AS ONE OF THE MOST CORRUPT A.G.s IN AMERICAN HISTORY) has said that Obama is “ready to roll” and has aligned himself with the “resistance.” Former high-level Obama campaign staffers now work with a variety of groups organizing direct action against Trump’s initiatives. “Resistance School,” for example, features lectures by former campaign executive Sara El-Amine, author of the Obama Organizing.”
“Obama would declare himself president for life with Soros really running the show, as he did for the entire Obama presidency.”
What no one will say, but I will, is that the ObamaGate /MuellerGate /SpyGate scandal is an ongoing plot to restore Barack Obama to the Presidency. Before heads explode let me explain.
"That phase of the takeover was started in 2008 by President Barack Obama. Throughout his eight years in office, Obama practiced divisiveness and hammered away at the Second Amendment while pouring gallons of fuel on the fire of the "Black Lives Matter" lie. His administration was rampant with corruption, pushing the envelope with every new scandal." RICK HAYES
"Along with Obama, Pelosi and Schumer are responsible for
incalculable damage done to this country over the eight years of that
administration (JOE BIDEN WAS OFF SUCKING OFF
BANKSTERS AND BRIBES)." PATRICIA McCARTHY
But soon enough, the reality of Barack Obama’s unpopularity, the reality of the criminal abuse by his administration in trying to frame and otherwise take down President Trump, and the reality of a booming economy helping all Americans, would take the air out of her balloon. “Bring Back Barack” is not a winning campaign theme. And if a tweet or two happened to get under her skin, the result could be ugly.

Author Matt Palumbo exposes the financier's networks and agenda.
In an in-depth interview with Matt Palumbo, author of The Man Behind the Curtain: Inside the Secret Network of George Soros, at the link below, Palumbo discusses the origins of left-wing billionaire financier Soros and his rise to power as the shadowy figure seemingly pulling the strings behind the scenes in American politics. Palumbo describes the purpose of his book as an opportunity to demystify Soros through extensive documentation of his financial sway across multiple spheres of influence in western society.
Palumbo also touches on the inner workings of Soros’s “Open Society Foundation,” the interconnected web of foundations and charitable organizations from which most of his philanthropic endeavors are launched. Palumbo provides a few examples from the hundreds of organizations George Soros has contributed to that are listed in his book (Black Lives Matter, Acorn, Defund the Police) as well as a detailed list of media publications that are heavily subsidized by Soros funds.
The conversation turns towards Soros’s recent push to promote radically liberal district attorneys and its ramifications on law and order in America, Soros’s role in the 2020 presidential election, along with his efforts to fund liberal colleges and universities throughout the country.

THE OBAMA-BIDEN HISPANICAZATION of AMERICA… first ease millions of illegals over our borders and into our voting booths!
How the Democrat party surrendered America to Mexico:

“The watchdogs at Judicial Watch discovered documents that reveal how the Obama administration's close coordination with the Mexican government entices Mexicans to hop over the fence and on to the American dole.” Washington Times
"This is country belongs to Mexico" is said by the Mexican Militant. This is a common teaching that the U.S. is really AZTLAN, belonging to Mexicans, which is taught to Mexican kids in Arizona and California through a LA Raza educational program funded by American Tax Payers via President Obama, when he gave LA RAZA $800,000.00 in March of 2009!
The “zero tolerance” program was dismantled by Attorney General Erc Holder once it had successfully cut the transit of migrants by roughly 95 percent. Initially, officials made 140,000 arrests per year in the mid-2000s, but the northward flow dropped so much that officials only had to make 6,000 arrests in 2013, according to a 2014 letter by two pro-migration Senators, Sen. Jeff Flake and John McCain.
“The cost of the Dream Act is far bigger than the Democrats or their media allies admit. Instead of covering 690,000 younger illegals now enrolled in former President Barack Obama’s 2012 “DACA” amnesty, the Dream Act would legalize at least 3.3 million illegals, according to a pro-immigration group, the Migration Policy Institute.”
Far-Left Billionaire George Soros Dumps $1 Million into Democrat Beto O’Rourke’s Gubernatorial Campaign
Far-left billionaire George Soros contributed $1,000,000 to failed Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke’s gubernatorial campaign in Texas late last month.
The Texas Ethics Commission’s website shows that Soros’s contribution to the Beto for Texas PAC came on June 23. Soros is a major donor to Democrat campaigns, having contributed millions to the top pro-Clinton Super PAC during Hillary Clinton’s failed 2016 presidential campaign. He also contributed to PACs that supported radical leftist district attorneys during their campaigns in recent years, including Alvin Bragg in New York County, New York, George Gascón in Los Angeles County, California, and Kim Foxx in Cook County, Illinois.
Between late February and the end of June, O’Rourke raised a record of $27.6 million, while his general election opponent, Gov Greg Abbott (R-TX), was not far behind, taking in $24.9 million, the Texas Tribune reported. Since November 15, 2021, O’Rourke has raised $40.9 million, but only 60 percent of the total has come from contributors in Texas, compared to Abbott’s $37 million, 83 percent of which has come from in-state donors. Abbott has 45.7 million in cash on hand, leading his opponent by a nearly 2-1 margin, as O’Rourke has 23.9 million in his war chest.
Soros-backed O’Rourke launched a presidential bid in 2020 and failed to secure a single delegate following a 2018 bid for U.S. Senate in Texas, where he lost to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX). Now, he looks to unseat Abbott, who is vying for his third term as governor. recent polling out of the Lone Start State consistently shows the sitting governor leading the race. A University of Texas poll from earlier this month had Abbott ahead of O’Rourke by six percentage points at 45 percent and 39 percent, respectively, among Texas voters. In A CBS/YouGov poll released on June 30, O’Rourke garnered 41 percent of the response among adult residents in Texas, which was eight points behind Abbott with 49 percent.
Following the school shooting at Robb Elementary School, O’Roruke showed up at an Abbot press conference in what Uvalde Mayor Don Mcloughlin called an effort to score cheap political points, as Breitbart News previously noted.
“You’re doing nothing,” O’Rourke told the governor.
