What will America stand for in 2050?

The US should think long and hard about the high number of Latino immigrants.
By Lawrence Harrison

PALO ALTO, CALIF.
President Obama has encouraged Americans to start laying a new foundation for the country – on a number of fronts. He has stressed that we'll need to have the courage to make some hard choices. One of those hard choices is how to handle immigration. The US must get serious about the tide of legal and illegal immigrants, above all from Latin America.
It's not just a short-run issue of immigrants competing with citizens for jobs as unemployment approaches 10 percent or the number of uninsured straining the quality of healthcare. Heavy immigration from Latin America threatens our cohesiveness as a nation.
The political realities of the rapidly growing Latino population are such that Mr. Obama may be the last president who can avert the permanent, vast underclass implied by the current Census Bureau projection for 2050.
Do I sound like a right-wing "nativist"? I'm not. I'm a lifelong Democrat; an early and avid supporter of Obama. I'm gratified by his nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court. I'm also the grandson of Eastern European Jewish immigrants; and a member, along with several other Democrats, of the advisory boards of the Federation for American Immigration Reform and Pro English. Similar concerns preoccupied the distinguished Democrat Barbara Jordan when she chaired the congressionally mandated US Commission on Immigration Reform in the 1990s.
Congresswoman Jordan was worried about the adverse impact of high levels of legal and illegal immigration on poor citizens, disproportionately Latinos and African-Americans. The principal beneficiaries of our current immigration policy are affluent Americans who hire immigrants at substandard wages for low-end work. Harvard economist George Borjas estimates that American workers lose $190 billion annually in depressed wages caused by the constant flooding of the labor market at the low-wage end.
The healthcare cost of the illegal workforce is especially burdensome, and is subsidized by taxpayers. To claim Medicaid, you must be legal, but as the Health and Human Services inspector general found, 47 states allow self-declaration of status for Medicaid. Many hospitals and clinics are going broke because of the constant stream of uninsured, many of whom are the estimated 12 million to 15 million illegal immigrants. This translates into reduced services, particularly for lower-income citizens.
The US population totaled 281 million in 2000. About 35 million, or 12.5 percent, were Latino. The Census Bureau projects that our population will reach 439 million in 2050, a 56 percent increase over the 2000 census. The Hispanic population in 2050 is projected at 133 million – 30 percent of the total and almost quadruple the 2000 level. Population growth is the principal threat to the environment via natural resource use, sprawl, and pollution. And population growth is fueled chiefly by immigration.
Consider what this, combined with worrisome evidence that Latinos are not melting into our cultural mainstream, means for the US. Latinos have contributed some positive cultural attributes, such as multigenerational family bonds, to US society. But the same traditional values that lie behind Latin America's difficulties in achieving democratic stability, social justice, and prosperity are being substantially perpetuated among Hispanic-Americans.
Prominent Latin Americans have concluded that traditional values are at the root of the region's development problems. Among those expressing that opinion: Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa; Nobelist author Octavio Paz, a Mexican; Teodoro Moscoso, a Puerto Rican politician and US ambassador to Venezuela; and Ecuador's former president, Osvaldo Hurtado.
Latin America's cultural problem is apparent in the persistent Latino high school dropout rate – 40 percent in California, according to a recent study – and the high incidence of teenage pregnancy, single mothers, and crime. The perpetuation of Latino culture is facilitated by the Spanish language's growing challenge to English as our national language. It makes it easier for Latinos to avoid the melting pot and for education to remain a low priority, as it is in Latin America – a problem highlighted in recent books by former New York City deputy mayor Herman Badillo, a Puerto Rican, and Mexican-Americans Lionel Sosa and Ernesto Caravantes.
Language is the conduit of culture. Consider: There is no word in Spanish for "compromise" (compromiso means "commitment") nor for "accountability," a problem that is compounded by a verb structure that converts "I dropped (broke, forgot) something" into "it got dropped" ("broken," "forgotten").
As the USAID mission director during the first two years of the Sandinista regime in Nicaragua, I had difficulty communicating "dissent" to a government minister at a crucial moment in our efforts to convince the US Congress to approve a special appropriation for Nicaragua.
I was later told by a bilingual, bicultural Nicaraguan educator that when I used "dissent" what my Nicaraguan counterparts understood was "heresy." "We are, after all, children of the Inquisition," he added.
In a letter to me in 1991, Mexican-American columnist Richard Estrada described the essence of the problem of immigration as one of numbers. We should really worry, he wrote, "when the numbers begin to favor not only the maintenance and replenishment of the immigrants' source culture, but also its overall growth, and in particular growth so large that the numbers not only impede assimilation but go beyond to pose a challenge to the traditional culture of the American nation."
Obama should confront the challenges by enforcing immigration laws on employment to help end illegal immigration. We should calibrate legal immigration annually to (1) the needs of the economy, as Ms. Jordan urged, and (2) past performance of immigrant groups with respect to acculturation.
We must declare our national language to be English and discourage the proliferation of Spanish- language media. We should limit citizenship by birth to the offspring of citizens. And we should provide immigrants with easy-to-access educational services that facilitate acculturation, including English language, citizenship, and American values.

ALIEN NATION: Secrets of the Invasion

Date: 2007-01-03, 9:46AM
May 2006 – ALIEN NATION: Secrets of the Invasion – Why America's government invites rampant illegal immigration

It's widely regarded as America's biggest problem: Between 12 and 20 million aliens (MOST SOURCES SUGGEST THERE ARE MUCH MORE LIKELY NEARLY 40 MILLION ILLEGALS HERE NOW) – including large numbers of criminals, gang members and even terrorists – have entered this nation illegally, with countless more streaming across our scandalously unguarded borders daily.

The issue polarizes the nation, robs citizens of jobs, bleeds taxpayers, threatens America's national security and dangerously balkanizes the country into unassimilated ethnic groups with little loyalty or love for America's founding values. Indeed, the de facto invasion is rapidly transforming America into a totally different country than the one past generations have known and loved.

And yet – most Americans have almost no idea what is really going on, or why it is happening.

While news reports depict demonstrations and debates, and while politicians promise "comprehensive border security programs," no real answers ever seem to emerge.

But there are answers. Truthful answers. Shocking answers.

In its groundbreaking May edition, WND's acclaimed monthly Whistleblower magazine reveals the astounding hidden agendas, plans and people behind America's immigration nightmare.

Titled "ALIEN NATION," the issue is subtitled "SECRETS OF THE INVASION: Why government invites rampant illegal immigration." Indeed, it reveals pivotal secrets very few Americans know. For example:

Did you know that the powerfully influential Council on Foreign Relations – often described as a “shadow government" – issued a comprehensive report last year laying out a five-year plan for the "establishment by 2010 of a North American economic and security community" with a common "outer security perimeter"?
Roughly translated: In the next few years, according to the 59-page report titled "Building a North American Community," the U.S. must be integrated with the socialism, corruption, poverty and population of Mexico and Canada. "Common perimeter" means wide-open U.S. borders between the U.S., Mexico and Canada. As Phyllis Schlafly reveals in this issue of Whistleblower: "This CFR document asserts that President Bush, Mexican President Vicente Fox and Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin 'committed their governments' to this goal when they met at Bush's ranch and at Waco, Texas, on March 23, 2005. The three adopted the 'Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America' and assigned 'working groups' to fill in the details. It was at this same meeting, grandly called the North American Summit, that President Bush pinned the epithet 'vigilantes' on the volunteers guarding our border in Arizona."

The CFR report – important excerpts of which are published in Whistleblower – also suggests North American elitists begin getting together regularly, and presumably secretly, "to buttress North American relationships, along the lines of the Bilderberg or Wehrkunde conferences, organized to support transatlantic relations." The Bilderberg and Wehrkunde conferences are highly secret conclaves of the powerful. For decades, there have been suspicions that such meetings were used for plotting the course of world events and especially the centralization of global decision-making.

Did you know that radical immigrant groups – including the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), the Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan (MEChA) and the National Council of La Raza (La Raza) – not only share a revolutionary agenda of conquering America's southwest, but they also share common funding sources, notably the Ford and Rockefeller foundations?
''California is going to be a Hispanic state," said Mario Obeldo, former head of MALDEF. "Anyone who does not like it should leave." And MEChA's goal is even more radical: an independent ''Aztlan,'' the collective name this organization gives to the seven states of the U.S. Southwest – Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas and Utah. So why would the Rockefeller and Ford foundations support such groups? Joseph Farah tells the story in this issue of Whistleblower.

Why have America's politicians – of both major parties – allowed the illegal alien invasion of this nation to continue for the last 30 years unabated? With al-Qaida and allied terrorists promising to annihilate major U.S. cities with nuclear weapons, with some big-city hospital emergency rooms near closure due to the crush of so many illegals, with the rapid spread throughout the U.S. of MS-13, the super-violent illegal alien gang – with all this and more, why do U.S. officials choose to ignore the laws of the land and the will of the people to pursue, instead, policies of open borders and lax immigration enforcement?

The answers to all this and much more are in Whistleblower's "ALIEN NATION" issue.

Is there hope? Or is America lost to a demographic invasion destined to annihilate its traditional Judeo-Christian culture, and to the ever-growing likelihood that nuclear-armed jihadists will cross our porous borders and wreak unthinkable destruction here?

There most definitely is hope, according to this issue of Whistleblower. Although most politicians of both major political parties have long since abdicated their responsibility for securing America's borders and dealing effectively with the millions already here illegally, there are a few exceptions – most notably Colorado Rep. Tom Tancredo.

May's Whistleblower includes an exclusive sneak preview of Tancredo's forthcoming blockbuster book, "In Mortal Danger: The Battle for America’s Border and Security." In an extended excerpt, Whistleblower presents Tencredo's expert and inspired analysis of exactly how to solve the nation's most vexing problem.

MEXICAN INTRUSION INTO OUR POLITICS - Ever Expanding Mexican Welfare State

Mexico Promotes Free U.S. Healthcare For Illegal Immigrants

Time to wake up people! With unemployment at 12% and the state going broke, our tax dollars are going to pay for healthcare for hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens. To the tune of over a billion dollars a year!

Read on:

Mexico's government operates programs in about a dozen American cities that refers its nationals--living in the U.S. illegally--to publicly funded health centers where they can get free medical care without being turned over to immigration authorities.

The program is called Ventanillas de Salud (Health Windows) in Spanish and its mission is to help illegal immigrants find U.S. hospitals, clinics and other government programs where they can get free services without being deported for violating federal immigration laws.

Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, San Diego and Indiana are among the cities where Mexican consulates operate the health referral system which annually costs U.S. taxpayers billions of dollars. In Los Angeles County alone, illegal immigrants cost taxpayers nearly $440 million in health services annually and a whopping $1.1 billion statewide.

The Mexican consul in Los Angeles proudly announced that nearly 300,000 Mexicans in the area have benefited from his government's health referral program, which he says actually saves the county money by encouraging immigrants to seek preventive care rather than waiting for more expensive emergency treatment.

The Southern California operation promises to assess "consulate clients" for eligibility to government-funded health insurance and other primary care services and offers free legal assistance to those who are denied coverage. Its goal is to improve access to health services for immigrants of Mexican origin by formalizing a health education, medical home referral and insurance enrollment program.

In Chicago, the Mexican consul's Spanish-language web site heavily promotes the Illinois Department of Health's low-cost prescription medicine program for illegal aliens and various free medical services throughout the state. It encourages all Mexicans in the area to pursue the valuable U.S. government-financed services for their entire family.

The Indiana-based program boasts that it serves thousands of "Mexican nationals" living in that state as well as Ohio, Kentucky and southern Illinois. Mexican officials claim that its highly successful pro-health program sends out a clear message to other Mexican consulates throughout the country and the world.

Although these programs facilitate people to remain in the country illegally, Mexico is working hard to expand them to all 47 U.S. consulates to better serve its nationals. In the meantime, U.S. taxpayers will keep picking up the exorbitant tab of medically treating the millions who live in the country illegally.

THE PURPOSE OF LA RAZA “THE RACE” IS TO EXPAND THE MEXICAN WELFARE STATE, AND MAKE SURE THAT LAWS NEVER APPLY TO ILLEGALS.
PRESS RELEASE FROM LA RAZA.

That seems to be the same conclusion over at the National Council of La Raza:

Yesterday, the White House released a plan that once again excluded proposals to adequately address high uninsurance rates in the Latino community. It missed out on a key opportunity to fix serious flaws in Senate health care reform legislation, bypassing a number of pending legislative priorities that are critical to Latinos' well-being.

Pro-Illegal-Immigration 'La Raza' Blasts Obama Health Plan . . . (for Not Including Illegal Aliens)

Pro-Illegal-Immigration 'La Raza' Blasts Obama Health Plan for Not Including Illegal Aliens

By Roy Beck, - posted on NumbersUSA

The open-borders lobby is wailing about Pres. Obama's health care compromise, and that seems like it should be good news on the immigration front.

They say the President is leaving all illegal aliens out of the plan. And they are calling on their activists to phone the White House to demand that illegal aliens be included.

Pres. Obama's printed outline of changes doesn't mention immigration status at all. That certainly alarmed us at first.

You may recall that the President promised last summer that illegal aliens will not be included in any part of a new national health care plan. The Senate followed that for the most part in the bill it passed (as opposed to the House bill which is wide open for illegal-alien use).

Our NumbersUSA experts on the Hill have told me that they believe the Senate bill remains operative except in the cases of changes outlined by Obama this week. That should mean that illegal aliens are excluded.

U.S. Latinos should be furious with the way the National Council of La Raza equates Latinos with illegal aliens.

The fact is that the Obama plan doesn't treat Latino Americans any differently than any other Americans. But it does treat legal U.S. residents differently than illegal ones. And La Raza should keep in mind that illegal aliens aren't just Latino but come in every nationality and ethnicity.

La Raza's action alert vilifies Obama's plan for requiring verification of a person's eligibility to have access to the government health coverage.

The pro-Amnesty, pro-illegal-immigration National Council of La Raza continued its recent attacks on Obama:

Unfortunately, the failure of the White House to act on these core priorities is more of the same inaction that we have seen in the past year. It is clear to NCLR that unless Latinos speak up now, we will continue to have our priorities undermined in the future.

CONTEMPT FOR ENGLISH.

LATINOS REJECT GOVERNOR’S ENGLISH-IMMERSION ADVICE

John Wildermuth, Chronicle Political Writer Saturday, June 16, 2007 (06-16) 04:00 PDT Sacramento -- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger knew he was setting himself up for plenty of criticism when he urged Latinos to "turn off the Spanish television set" in order to learn English faster, but it was a briar patch the Austrian immigrant was happy to leap into. Speaking to the National Association of Hispanic Journalists convention in San Jose Wednesday night, the governor, relaxed and seated in a chair on stage, answered questions for more than 40 minutes on Latino-oriented issues ranging from immigration to education. Late in that session, he was asked what could be done to help Latino students, many new to the country, pass the newly required high school exit exams.

FORTY PERCENT OF THE STUDENT BODY IN CALIFORNIA CAN NOT SPEAK ENGLISH.

He talked at first about providing more tutors and after-school help to improve their English-language skills, but then suggested that the ability of many California Latinos to lead their daily lives -- shopping, watching television, reading newspapers, speaking with friends -- almost entirely in Spanish was making it harder for them to learn English. "This is politically not the correct thing to say, but here I am, getting myself into trouble,'' Schwarzenegger said, anticipating the furor he was creating. "But I know that when I came to this country, I ... very rarely spoke German to anyone.'' The governor admitted that his experience as a young, single man moving into an area where German speakers were few and far between was very different from a Spanish-speaking family living in an established Latino community like East Los Angeles, because he was forced to speak English. But the governor quickly found himself under attack, both for his message and for its timing. When Schwarzenegger acknowledged that it was difficult for Spanish-speaking Latinos to find the time to perfect their English skills as quickly as possible, Pilar Marrero, a columnist for La Opinion, a Spanish-language newspaper in Los Angeles, said, "They're busy working; they don't have time to learn.''

BUSY WORKING STEALING CARS AND SPRAY PAINTING THE SIDES OF BUILDINGS. I’VE SEEN ILLEGALS HERE FOR DECADES THAT CAN’T SPEAK ENGLISH NOR CAN THEIR CHILDREN!

Schwarzenegger's statement was "both insensitive and irresponsible,'' said John Ramirez, a professor of media studies at Cal State Los Angeles. "This is a very scary and dangerous time because of the growing anti-immigration sentiment, which is all the more reason for the governor of California to be a little more sensitive.'' WHERE’S THE MENTION OF THE GROWING LA RAZA, THE RACIST MEXICAN PARTY’S SENTIMENT THAT THE AMERICAN SOUTH WEST ACTUALLY BELONGS TO NARCO-MEX?

Not surprisingly, the governor also took heat from the Spanish-language media, which didn't take kindly to his suggestion that their readers and listeners should just say no to their stories and programs. La Opinion, one of the nation's largest Spanish-language newspapers, suggested in an editorial that the governor was dealing in stereotypes when he suggested that California Latinos aren't interested in learning English as quickly as possible. "It is absurd to blame the Spanish-speaking media for low Latino academic performance,'' the newspaper said. The governor's office is receiving plenty of feedback, both pro and con, said Adam Mendelsohn, the governor's communications director. "It's been a very mixed reaction,'' he said. "But much of the negative reaction comes from people who didn't read the governor's remarks in context.'' Schwarzenegger's impassioned support for English immersion, which he admitted was "a drastic way" of learning the language, reflects the way he moved into his adopted country's mainstream, Mendelsohn said. Speaking to the Latino journalists, Schwarzenegger recalled his teachers at Santa Monica City College telling him to "read the L.A. Times, even though you don't understand it. ... Look at books that are English, look at comic books that are English, watch television, listen to radio that is English. And it really helped me.'' It was a very difficult path and a huge commitment of time and effort, but within two years, "I really got my act together so I could read the paper and I could understand the news and really get with it in school,'' Schwarzenegger said. That's not a path that's realistic for many Latinos with family responsibilities and ties to a local community, a community that's largely covered by the Spanish-language media, said John Trasvina, president and general counsel of the Mexican American Legal Defense Fund. "Nobody's saying, 'I don't need to learn English,' but while they're learning English, they should be able to keep in touch with their community,'' he said. A 21-year-old Austrian, virtually alone in a new country and wrapped up in the all-encompassing world of professional body-building, can spend hours in front of the television, living in a totally English-speaking world, Schwarzenegger's critics said. "That's not realistic for Latinos,'' said Ramirez, the Cal State Los Angeles professor. "They're still going to talk to Mom and the neighbors.'' Complaints about how best to teach newcomers English are nothing new for California. The battle between bilingual education, where non-English-speaking students are taught in both their native language and English, and immersion, where students who don't speak English are taught almost entirely in their new language, has raged for years, with groups like U.S. English, founded by former California Sen. S.I. Hayakawa, pushing hard for English immersion and an end to things like bilingual ballots and providing government services in languages other than English. In 1998, for example, California overwhelmingly passed Proposition 227, which banned most bilingual education in the state. Opponents say the immersion strategy it backed hasn't worked. "The governor was talking about kids in our schools who already are immersed in English all day,'' said Maria Quezada, executive director of the California Association for Bilingual Education. "There's a 40 percent dropout rate in the L.A. Unified School District, and their classes are in English.'' But this week was far from the first time Schwarzenegger has come out in favor of English immersion. In speeches, in newspaper op-ed pieces and in interviews he's talked about his experience as an immigrant and the absolute need to learn English in the fastest way possible. "The governor believes very strongly in immersion and believes very strongly in his experience with it and has no trouble talking about his experience as an immigrant,'' said Mendelsohn, the governor's spokesman. "He wasn't saying that Spanish-language media should be eliminated and he wasn't saying Spanish-language media plays no role in the community.'' Schwarzenegger also wasn't saying that by turning off the Spanish-language TV programs Latinos should turn away from their ethnic heritage, Mendelsohn added. When he stopped speaking German, Schwarzenegger said Wednesday, it wasn't "that I didn't like Austria, my heart was always in Austria, but I wanted to as quickly as possible learn the English language.'' *****************************

By Robert Salladay Times Staff Writer July 26, 2006 LA MESA, Calif. — An outdoor campaign appearance by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger quickly turned into a bitter complaint session Tuesday, with conservative voters visibly angry at him over illegal immigration and the parole of murderers. The San Diego County event, at a community park, was carefully planned by Schwarzenegger campaign aides. But some of the invited, mostly Republican audience was livid at the governor while other members alternately booed and cheered during the tense exchanges. An El Cajon woman who said she had been a Republican since the mid-1960s scolded the governor for failing to secure the California-Mexico border and stopping illegal immigrants who come here and "get everything free." "I voted for you, and right now I don't see much difference between you and Phil Angelides," said Sally Plata, 66, referring to Schwarzenegger's Democratic opponent. "I don't see that you are standing up for the citizens of California." ASKING ARNO ABOUT THE MEX INVASION IS ASKING QUESTIONS WHICH WENT “INTO DANGEROUS AREAS”................................IT’S ALWAYS THE SAME. ELECTED PIMPS DENYING THE MEX INVASION AND THEN HANDING US THE 9 BILLION DOLLAR BILL. The tone of the unscripted exchanges startled the governor. After the event, Schwarzenegger told reporters that he found the questions, which went "into dangerous areas," troubling. "This was really the first time I had seen the intensity of prejudice," the governor said. "I had this woman come up to me [afterward] and say, 'Stop the invasion.' It was that kind of dialogue. It was 'invasion' or 'robbing our country' or they want to take it back." In his remarks, Schwarzenegger advocated a more tolerant position. "I think it's very, very important to never get mad at anyone who is trying to come to this country," he said. "  I know that people want to come from the south, people that are living in misery. They try to come. I did the same thing when I was in Austria. All I wanted was to come to California." ARNO: CALIFORNIANS OWE THE MEXICAN INVADERS A FREE RIDE. FORGET ABOUT THE CRIMES THEY CAUSE, GRAFFITI, HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM MELTDOWNS, EDUCATION SYSTEM MELTDOWN, JAILS OVER FLOWING.... WE OWE THEM THE CALIFORNIA DREAM........................................................................... In her questioning, Plata called President Bush a "bum" on immigration issues and asked whether the governor had actually sent 1,500 California National Guard troops to the border to assist federal efforts. She said she visited the border and didn't see them. "You are on a thin piece of wall," she said finally, "if you don't start changing your attitude and do something for the citizens of this state." AMEN! THAT GOES FOR BOXER, FEINSTEIN, HARMAN, ESHOO, WAXMAN............................. The governor, surrounded by about 150 people sitting in a circle on chairs and picnic tables, kept his cool through the barrage of criticism. But at one point, as Plata kept talking while he was speaking, he turned to her and snapped: "Please don't interrupt me when I talk; thank you very much. I let you talk also." He told her he had actually sent 1,000 troops to the border, and she threw up her hands with an expression of disgust. "We have to push them along and make sure they do their job," Schwarzenegger said of the Bush administration, later adding: "I will make sure you will have confidence in me so you will vote for me." FUCK HIM BACK TO AUSTRIAN! THAT’S HOW MUCH “CONFIDENCE” I HAVE IN THIS SELF-SERVING BACK ROOM DEALING CIRCUS FREAK! Angelides, speaking to reporters Tuesday outside a labor convention in downtown Los Angeles, ridiculed the governor for what he said were contradictory policies on immigration and his support of the Minuteman volunteer border-monitoring group. ANGELIDES IS A PUPPET OF LA RAZA. HE WANTS ALL THE ILLEGALS REGISTERED TO VOTE AND VOTE OFTEN! Angelides pointed to an interview with the Spanish-language newspaper La Opinion this week in which the governor said he thought Proposition 187 — the 1994 initiative to cut off most public services to illegal immigrants — was "the wrong decision." Schwarzenegger has previously said he voted for the initiative but also thought it unfairly targeted children. "What is his position?" Angelides asked. "He doesn't have a position." BULLSHIT! HIS POSITION IS LA RAZA’S! The La Mesa event didn't focus solely on immigration. Brad Boswell, an insurance executive and longtime Republican, told the governor he was alarmed at newspaper accounts saying Schwarzenegger had paroled nearly 100 murderers. The governor replied that his hands were often tied — that it is hard to keep people locked up beyond their release dates. PARTICULARLY WHEN THE PRISONS ARE FLOODED WITH MEXICAN ILLEGALS. Since taking office, he has allowed the parole of about 120 murderers and turned down the release of about 320 others, state officials said. Boswell also said he disliked the governor's proposed prison overhaul, which would relocate 4,500 female inmates to community detention centers. "Why do you want to put those people back in our community?" Boswell asked. "I am very, very concerned about your record on crime." He likened Schwarzenegger to former Massachusetts Gov. Michael Dukakis, a Democrat who was lambasted during his 1988 presidential run for paroling killer Willie Horton. Afterward, Boswell said he would vote for another conservative candidate on the ballot. "I'm not supporting this guy," he said. Schwarzenegger responded to Boswell's question by saying he was tough on crime and supports a ballot initiative in November to strengthen penalties for child molesters. He said that the current prison system doesn't work and that innovative solutions are needed. A new Field Poll shows Schwarzenegger leading Angelides by 8 percentage points, with support from 85% of Republican voters. But the event Tuesday suggested deep misgivings among some of those voters. One woman asked why people come from Ireland legally but people from south of the border do not. "We want our country back," she said, quoting a conservative radio talk show host. “WE WANT OUR COUNTRY BACK!” WHO ISN’T SICK OF MEXICAN GANGS, CRIME AND THEIR WAVING THEIR MEX FLAGS IN OUR FACES AND SPRAY PAINTING WALLS ALL OVER WITH INVITATIONS FOR ANOTHER TWENTY MILLION ILLEGALS TO HOP THE BORDER FOR THE AMERICAN FREE RIDE....... Also Tuesday, Schwarzenegger said he would postpone a trip to Mexico scheduled for next month, saying he wanted to wait until the outcome of the presidential race there is officially settled. He said the delay had nothing to do with the immigration debate in California. Tuesday's appearance was the first stop on a two-day bus tour taking the governor from San Diego to the Inland Empire and Orange and Los Angeles counties. He traveled in a luxury bus emblazoned with his campaign slogan, "Protecting the California dream," THE ONLY THING WE NEED TO “PROTECT THE AMERICAN DREAM” FROM THE POLITICIANS WHORING FOR BIG BUSINESS AND THE US CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR OPEN BORDERS.......... I LIVED THE AMERICAN DREAM UNTIL TWENTY MILLION MEXICANS MOVED INTO CA AND LAID DOWN TIJUANA. He spoke briefly to customers at Sweet Lumpy's BBQ in Temecula and stopped at a quiet fruit market in Corona, where he signed two copies of the New Testament for a man in the crowd. He also bought grapes and strawberries for $30.79, using bills from a money clip. At the first stop, in La Mesa, some people offered personal, emotional moments. A 16-year-old from El Cajon told an extended story about being assaulted by a gang. A woman with crutches said she had been beaten by police. Schwarzenegger called her over to him and gave her a hug in the middle of the crowd. He promised to check into their stories. RIGHT!

California's dropout problem

A state senator offers a package of bills that could help keep in school some of the 150,000 kids who drop out each year.July 17, 2007CALIFORNIA'S CHILDREN are abandoning school at the rate of about 150,000 a year — a number equivalent to the population of Torrance, or Irvine, or all of Imperial County. Fewer than 70% of ninth-graders statewide will graduate from high school, and in some districts the percentage drops to less than half. Shockingly, this is not particularly a problem for schools, which are ranked primarily on their test scores. If marginal students leave, it only helps their averages. The result is a calamity in education that has almost no effect on schools, and that paradoxically has allowed schools to remain on the margins of a public debate about how to keep kids in the classroom. Fortunately, the Legislature is taking note. The stakes are high. In Los Angeles, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa forced an awareness of the dropout crisis in a district that has coolly accepted the slide of thousands of children into failure. We can squabble about the exact percentage of students leaving schools in L.A., but more than 35,000 students disappeared from the class of 2005 between the first day of ninth grade and the last day of 12th grade. Where do they go? Too often, dropouts fall into gangs and crime. Los Angeles is the gang capital of the nation. California has the largest prison population in the country, and more than 80% of the state's prison population did not graduate from high school.Reducing the dropout rate statewide will require a profound rethinking of how we encourage students to stay in school and how we hold schools accountable for keeping them there. State Sen. Darrell Steinberg (D-Sacramento) has introduced a package of bills that starts that process, creating a sturdy framework for reform. The legislation, now in the Assembly, would hold schools accountable for their dropout rates and offer funding to help them engage students in the classroom, and it takes a thoughtful approach to curtailing the excessive hours some students work. Most notably, SB 219 would add dropout rates for eighth- and ninth-graders to the Academic Performance Index. By law, 60% of the API must be devoted to test scores, but the other 40% is in play. How much the dropout rate would count toward a school's API would be determined by the state schools superintendent and board of education, but including that information would give a more realistic measure of performance. A school with high test scores but also a high dropout rate, for example, would see its API dip. This bill would also assign API responsibility to the school and district of origin for students enrolled in alternative education programs — which is not currently the case. That would remove what Steinberg calls "a perverse incentive" for schools to stand by as the least able students walk out the door.Another bill in the package, SB 405, would help schools in the lowest third of the API increase the number and quality of college prep and career tech courses they offer. This sounds like common sense, but it is actually a visionary attempt to eradicate the 100-year-old bias in education that allowed career tech to become a second-tier option to college readiness. The voluntary grant program created by the bill would provide schools with $100 a student. Schools could, for example, add a "shadow" algebra class for struggling students (shadow classes reinforce lessons previously taught in regular class) or Advanced Placement chemistry for those who excel. They could meld career tech and college prep in an "auto physics" class, like the one taught at Duarte High School. How will this keep kids in school? A report released last year by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation found that almost half of dropouts say they left school because classes were not challenging and they did not see any real-world, or work-world, applicability to what they were learning. Steinberg's SB 405 would advance what should be the ultimate goal of education: fully preparing students to perform capably whether they enter college or the work world.Work brings us to another bill in the package, SB 406. One reason U.S. students often lag behind their international peers, research shows, is that they work outside the home more and study less. California permits 16- and 17-year-olds to work a Dickensian 48 hours a week. Steinberg's legislation would tie work to school performance. Students with lower than a C+ average and less than 90% attendance could work no more than 20 hours a week; students with a C average or lower and attendance that dips below 80% in the current semester couldn't work at all. The bill would, however, allow principals to consider extenuating circumstances, such as student and family economic necessity, and grant exemptions. More policy work remains to be done if the dropout rate is to reverse course, but these bills set the state on the right path. They deserve the support of the Legislature and governor. A TEACHER’S POSTING ON CRAIGSLIST:

Subject: Cheap Labor This should make everyone think, be you Democrat, Republican or Independent From a California school teacher - - -"As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal immigration, there are some things that you should be aware of: I am in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at a large southern California high school which is designated a Title 1 school, meaning that its students average lower socioeconomic and income levels. Most of the schools you are hearing about, South Gate High, Bell Gardens, Huntington Park, etc., where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 schools. Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program. When I say free breakfast, I'm not talking a glass of milk and roll -- but a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make a Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK) I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at least moderately overweight. About 75% or more DO have cell phones. The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family watch their kids. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK) I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department or risk losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; my budget was already substantial. I ended up buying new computers for the computer learning center, half of which, one month later, have been carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in America. (OUR TAX DOLLARS A T WORK) I have had to intervene several times for young and substitute teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students here in the country less then 3 months who raised so much hell with the female teachers, calling them "Putas" whores and throwing things that the teachers were in tears. Free medical, free education, free food, day care etc., etc., etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled to not only be in this country but to demand rights, privileges and entitlements? To those who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society because they LIKE their gardener and housekeeper and they like to pay less for tomatoes: spend some time in the real world of illegal immigration and see the TRUE costs.

Higher insurance, medical facilities closing, higher medical costs, more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases etc., etc, etc. For me, I'll pay more for tomatoes. We need to wake up. The guest worker program will be a disaster because we won't have the guts to enforce it. Does anyone in their right mind really think they will voluntarily leave and return? There are many hardworking Hispanic/American citizens that contribute to our country and many that I consider my true friends. We should encourage and accept those Hispanics who have done it the right and legal way. It does, however, have everything to do with culture: A third-world culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by 15 and that refuses to assimilate, and an American culture that has become so weak and worried about "politically correct" that we don't have the will to do anything about it. If this makes your blood boil, as it did mine, forward this to everyone you know. CHEAP LABOR? Isn't that what the whole immigration issue is abou t? Business doesn't want to pay a decent wage Consumers don't want expensive produce Government will tell you Americans don't want the jobs But the bottom line is cheap labor. The phrase "cheap labor" is a myth, a farce, and a lie. there is no such thing as "cheap labor." Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children. He takes a job for $5.00 or $6.00/hour. At that wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year, if he files an Income Tax Return, he gets an "earned income credit" of up to $3,200 free. He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent He qualifies for food stamps He qualifies for free (no deductible, no co-pay) health care His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school He requires bilingual teachers and books He qualifies for relief from high energy bills If they are or become, aged, blind or disabled, they qua lify for SSI. Once qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicare. All of this is at taxpayer's expense He doesn't worry about car insurance, life insurance, or homeowners insurance. Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins and printed material. He and his family receive the equivalent of $20.00 to $30.00/hour in benefits. Working Americans are lucky to have $5.00 or $6.00/hour left after paying their bills and his. The American taxpayer's also pay for increased crime, graffiti and trash clean-up. Cheap labor? YEAH RIGHT! Wake up people!

Wake up America!!! Illegal Immigration has to be stopped. Take a look at this website and see where all your tax dollars are going: 1. 1. http://immigrationcounters.com/ Politicians bitch and moan that there is no monies available for improvements in schools, hospitals, etc...... I have an idea. Cut off ALL ILLEGAL immigrants freebies; education, hospital, & food stamps. Give the money to who really deserve it, AMERICANS!!!

MULTICULTURALISM, IMMIGRATION AND AZTLAN

By Maria Hsia Chang Professor of Political Science, University of Nevada Reno

One of the standard arguments invoked by those in favor of massive immigration into the United States is that our country is founded on immigrants who have always been successfully assimilated into America's mainstream culture and society. As one commentator put it, "Assimilation evokes the misty past of Ellis Island, through which millions entered, eventually seeing their descendants become as American as George Washington."1 Nothing more vividly testifies against that romantic faith in America's ability to continuously assimilate new members than the events of October 16, 1994 in Los Angeles. On that day, 70,000 people marched beneath "a sea of Mexican flags" protesting Proposition 187, a referendum measure that would deny many state benefits to illegal immigrants and their children. Two weeks later, more protestors marched down the street, this time carrying an American flag upside down. Both protests point to a disturbing and rising phenomenon of Chicano separatism in the United States — the product of a complex of forces, among which are multiculturalism and a generous immigration policy combined with a lax border control. The Problem Chicanos refer to "people of Mexican descent in the United States" or "Mexican Americans in general." Today, there are reasons to believe that Chicanos as a group are unlike previous immigrants in that they are more likely to remain unassimilated and unintegrated, whether by choice or circumstance — resulting in the formation of a separate quasi-nation within the United States. More than that, there are Chicano political activists who intend to marry cultural separateness with territorial and political self-determination. The more moderate among them aspire to the cultural and political autonomy of "home rule". The radicals seek nothing less than secession from the United States whether to form their own sovereign state or to reunify with Mexico. Those who desire reunification with Mexico are irredentists who seek to reclaim Mexico's "lost" territories in the American Southwest.

Whatever their goals, what animates all of them is the dream of Aztlan. According to legend, Aztlan was the ancestral homeland of the Aztecs which they left in journeying southward to found Tenochtitlan, the center of their new civilization, which is today's Mexico City. Today, the "Nation of Aztlan" refers to the American southwestern states of California, Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, portions of Nevada, Utah, Colorado, which Chicano nationalists claim were stolen by the United States and must be reconquered (Reconquista) and reclaimed for Mexico. The myth of Aztlan was revived by Chicano political activists in the 1960s as a central symbol of Chicano nationalist ideology. In 1969, at the Chicano National Liberation Youth Conference in Denver, Rodolfo "Corky" Gonzales put forth a political document entitled El Plan de Aztlan (Spiritual Plan of Aztlan). The Plan is a clarion call to Mexican-Americans to form a separate Chicano nation: In the spirit of a new people that is conscious not only of its proud historial heritage, but also of the brutal "gringo" invasion of our territories, we, the Chicano inhabitants and civilizers of the nothern land of Aztlan from whence came our forefathers ...declare that the call of our blood is...our inevitable destiny.... Aztlan belongs to those who plant the seeds, water the fields, and gather the crops, and not to the foreign Europeans. We do not recognize capricious frontiers on the bronze continent.... Brotherhood unites us, and love for our brothers makes us a people whose time has come .... With our heart in our hands and our hands in the soil, we declare the independence of our mestizo nation. We are a bronze people with a bronze culture. Before the world, before all of North America, before all our brothers in the bronze continent, we are a nation, we are a union of free pueblos, we are Aztlan.

How Chicanos are Unlike Previous Immigrants Brent A. Nelson, writing in 1994, observed that in the 1980s America's Southwest had begun to be transformed into "a de facto nation" with its own culture, history, myth, geography, religion, education, and language. Whatever evidence there is indicates that Chicanos, as a group, are unlike previous waves of immigrants into the United States. In the first place, many Chicanos do not consider themselves immigrants at all because their people "have been here for 450 years" before the English, French, or Dutch. Before California and the Southwest were seized by the United States, they were the lands of Spain and Mexico. As late as 1780 the Spanish crown laid claim to territories from Florida to California, and on the far side of the Mississippi up to the Great Lakes and the Rockies. Mexico held title to much of Spanish possessions in the United States until the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo ended the Mexican-American war in 1848. As a consequence, Mexicans "never accepted the borders drawn up by the 1848 treaty."

That history has created among Chicanos a feeling of resentment for being "a conquered people," made part of the United States against their will and by the force of arms. Their resentment is amply expressed by Voz Fronteriza, a Chicano student publication,
which referred to Border Patrol officers killed in the line of duty as "pigs (migra)" trying to defend "the false frontier."
Chicanos are also distinct from other immigrant groups because of the geographic proximity of their native country. Their physical proximity to Mexico gives Chicanos "the option of life in both Americas, in two places and in two cultures, something earlier immigrants never had." Geographic proximity and ease of transportation are augmented by the media. Radio and television keep the spoken language alive and current so that Spanish, unlike the native languages of previous immigrants into the United States, "shows no sign of fading."

A result of all that is the failure by Chicanos to be fully assimilated into the larger American society and culture. As Earl Shorris, author of Latinos: A Biography of the People, observed: "Latinos have been more resistant to the melting pot than any other group. Their entry en masse into the United States will test the limits of the American experiment...." The continuous influx of Mexican immigrants into the United States serve to continuously renew Chicano culture so that their sense of separateness will probably continue "far into the future...." There are other reasons for the failure of Chicano assimilation. Historically, a powerful force for assimilation was upward social mobility: Immigrants into the United States became assimilated as they rose in educational achievement and income. But today's post-industrial American economy, with its narrower paths to upward mobility, is making it more difficult for certain groups to improve their socioeconomic circumstances. Unionized factory jobs, which once provided a step up for the second generation of past waves of immigrants, have been disappearing for decades. Instead of the diamond-shaped economy of industrial America, the modern American economy is shaped like an hourglass. There is a good number of jobs for unskilled people at the bottom, a fair number of jobs for the highly educated at the top, but comparatively few jobs for those in the middle without a college education or special skills. To illustrate, a RAND Corporation study forecasts that 85 percent of California's new jobs will require post-secondary education. For a variety of reasons, the nationwide high-school dropout rate for Hispanics (the majority of whom are Chicano) is 30 percent — three times the rate for whites and twice the rate for blacks. Paradoxically, the dropout rate for Hispanics born in the United States is even higher than for young immigrants. Among Chicanos, high-school dropout rates actually rise between the second and third generations. Their low educational achievement accounts for why Chicanos as a group are poor despite being hardworking. In 1996, for the first time, Hispanic poverty rate began to exceed that of American blacks. In 1995, household income rose for every ethnic group except Hispanics, for whom it dropped 5 percent. Latinos now make up a quarter of the nation's poor people, and are more than three times as likely to be impoverished than whites. This decline in income has taken place despite high rates of labor-force participation by Latino men, and despite an emerging Latino middle class. In California, where Latinos now approach one-third of the population, their education levels are far lower than those of other immigrants, and they earn about half of what native-born Californians earn. This means that, for the first time in the history of American immigration, hard work is not leading to economic advancement because immigrants in service jobs face unrelenting labor-market pressure from more recently arrived immigrants who are eager to work for less. The narrowing of the pathways of upward mobility has implications for the children of recent Mexican immigrants. Their ascent into the middle-class mainstream will likely be blocked and they will join children of earlier black and Puerto Rican migrants as part of an expanded multiethnic underclass. Whereas first generation immigrants compare their circumstances to the Mexico that they left — and thereby feel immeasurably better off — their children and grandchildren will compare themelves to other U.S. groups. Given their lower educational achievement and income, that comparison will only lead to feelings of relative deprivation and resentment. They are unlikely to be content as maids, gardeners, or fruit pickers. Many young Latinos in the second and third generations see themselves as locked in irremediable conflict with white society, and are quick to deride successful Chicano students as "wannabes." For them, to study hard is to "act white" and exhibit group disloyalty. That attitude is part of the Chicano culture of resistance — a culture that actively resists assimilation into mainstream America. That culture is created, reinforced, and maintained by radical Chicano intellectuals, politicians, and the many Chicano Studies programs in U.S. colleges and universities. As examples, according to its editor, Elizabeth Martinez, the purpose of Five Hundred Years of Chicano History, a book used in over 300 schools throughout the West, is to "celebrate our resistance to being colonized and absorbed by racist empire builders." The book calls the INS and the Border Patrol "the Gestapo for Mexicans."
For Rodolfo Acuna, author of Occupied America: The Chicano's Struggle Toward Liberation, probably the most widely assigned text in U.S. Chicano Studies programs, the Anglo-American invasion of Mexico was "as vicious as that of Hitler's invasion of Poland and other Central European nations...." The book also includes a map showing "the Mexican republic" in 1822 reaching up into Kansas and Oklahoma, and including within it Utah, Nevada, and everything west and south of there.

At a MEChA conference in 1996, Acuna referred to Anglos as Nazis: "Right now you are in the Nazi United States of America." The effect of books such as those is to radicalize young Chicanos. As an example, although Chicano undergraduates at Berkeley lacked any sort of strong ethnic identity before entering college, in Berkeley they became "born again" as Chicanos because of MEChA and Chicano Studies departments. The strident rhetoric of intellectuals is echoed by some Mexican-American politicians. Former California state senator Art Torres called Proposition 187 "the last gasp of white America" and spoke of "reclaiming" Southern California. The Mexican government also contributes to the Chicano sense of separateness through its recent decision that migrants will not forfeit their Mexican citizenship by becoming U.S. citizens and are allowed to vote in Mexican elections. Multiculturalism and Immigration All of this is exacerbated by the U.S. government's immigration policy and a new ethic of multiculturalism that has become almost an official dogma in the mass media and in academe. Exponents of multiculturalism maintain that all cultures are equal, and that the United States must accept its destiny as a universal nation, a world nation, in which no one culture — especially European culture — will be dominant. "The ideal of multiculturalism is a nation which has no core culture, no ethnic core, no center other than a powerful state apparatus." The social ethic of multiculturalism is actively supported by an official government policy of "corporate pluralism" which militates against America's earlier ideal of assimilation. According to Gunnar Myrdal, "corporate pluralism" refers to a society where racial and ethnic entities are accorded formal recognition and standing by the state as groups in the national polity, and where political power and economic reward are based on a distributive formula that postulates group rights and defines group membership as an important factor in the outcome for individuals. By replacing individual meritocracy with group rewards, corporate pluralism "strongly discourages assimilation in the conventional sense because if a significant portion of one's rational interests are likely to be satisfied by emphasis on one's ethnicity, then one might as well stay within ethnic boundaries and at the same time enjoy the social comforts of being among people of one's own kind." Corporate pluralism is realized through such government policies as affirmative action, court-ordered busing, and bilingual education. In the case of the latter, by the late 1970s, bilingual education has become "a Hispanic institution." A bilingual establishment has been formed which "fights for jobs and perks" and is determined to maintain Spanish as both language and culture.* Being supported by government laws, that establishment cannot easily be dislodged.

Conclusion Chicanos are not the only ethnic groups in the United States who resist assimilation and are geographically concentrated in certain areas and cities. The Cubans in Miami and Chinese in Monterey Park are other examples, but neither group is large enough to practice autonomism or separatism. Chicanos in the Southwest, however, are great in numbers and "are producing spokesmen for...autonomism, separatism, and even irredentism." Since 1977, INS has apprehended over a million illegals a year, the majority Hispanics; anywhere from 2 to 5 million eluded the INS. By the early 1980s, the number of illegal aliens in the United States, mostly Hispanic, totalled 3 to 12 million. In 1980, the Census Bureau counted 14.6 million Hispanics in the United States, increasing to 15.8 million by 1982, and 17.3 million by 1985 — making America the 5th or 4th largest Spanish-speaking country in the world.27 According to the 1990 Census, Latin America accounted for 38 percent of America's foreign-born, well over half of whom were from Mexico. The real percentage is probably higher because illegal aliens avoid the census and most illegals are from Latin America. According to a report by the Urban Institute in 1984 entitled The Fourth Wave: California's Newest Immigrants, by the year 2000, 42 percent of Southern California's residents will be Caucasian, 41 percent Hispanic, 9 percent Asian and 8 percent black. Demographers Leon F. Bouvier and Cary B. Davis in Immigration and the Future Racial Composition of the United States expect that, by 2080, Hispanics (more than half Chicano) will constitute 34.1 percent of the total U.S. population, even if immigration were restricted to 2 million entrants a year from all areas of the world and birthrates of Hispanics converge with those of non-Hispanics. In 2080, Hispanics will be either a plurality or a majority of the population in California and Texas at 41.4 percent and 53.5 percent, respectively, assuming an influx of a conservative one million immigrants a year. Former Senator Eugene McCarthy, writing in 1987, had warned of a "recolonization". McCarthy's warning was sounded five years earlier by a historian of race relations, George Fredrickson. Speaking at a colloquium on race relations in 1982, Fredrickson observed that: There are two ways that you can gain territory from another group. One is by conquest. That's essentially the way we took California from Mexico and... Texas as well. But what's going on now may end up being a kind of recolonization of the Southwest, because the other way you can regain territory is by population infiltration and demographic dominance .... The United States will be faced with the problem that Canada has been faced with... and which our system is not prepared to accomodate. Mario Barrera, a faculty member of U.C. Berkeley's Department of Ethnic Studies, admitted that multiculturalism "would help prepare the ideological climate for an eventual campaign for ethnic regional autonomy." In January 1995, El Plan de Aztlan Conference at UC Riverside resolved that "We shall overcome...by the vote if possible and violence if necessary." The rise of Mexican irredentism as a serious political movement "awaits only the demographic transformation of the Southwest." As an article entitled "The Great Invasion: Mexico Recovers Its Own" in 1982's Excelsior, Mexico's leading daily newspaper, put it: The territory lost in the 19th century by...Mexico...seems to be restoring itself through a humble people who go on settling various zones that once were ours on the old maps. Land, under any concept of possession, ends up in the hands of those who deserve it.... [The result of this migration is to return the land] to the jurisdiction of Mexico without the firing of a single shot. Multiculturalism and United States government's immigration policy have contributed towards the rise of Chicano ethnic separatism within the American Southwest that has all the makings of an incipient Nation of Aztlan. THE EVER EXPANDING MEXICAN OCCUPATION and WELFARE – PRISON STATE

PUBLIC COMMENTS FROM TWO RACIST MEXICAN LA RAZA MEMBERS, ANTONIO “TACO RUNT” VILLARAIGOSA, MAYOR OF LOS ANGELES, AND LOS ANGELES SUPERVISOR, GLORIA MOLINA.

Antonio Villaraigosa, Chair of MEChA (student wing of Aztlan movement) at UCLA, former CA assemblymember, former CA Assembly speaker, currently Los Angeles City Mayor, and formerly Councilman at Southwest Voter Registration Project Conference in Los Angeles, 6/1997 "Part of today's reality has been propositions like 187 (to deny public benefits to illegal aliens, 1994), propositions like 209 (to abolish affirmative action, 1996), the welfare reform bill, which targeted legal immigrants and targeted us as a community. That's been the midnight. We know that the sunny side of midnight has been the election of a Latino speaker - was the election of Loretta Sanchez, against an arch-conservative, reactionary hate-mongering politician like Congressman Dornan! Today in California in the legislature, we're engaged in a great debate, where not only were we talking about denying education to the children of undocumented workers, but now we're talking about whether or not we should provide prenatal care to undocumented mothers. It's not enough to elect Latino leadership. If they're supporting legislation that denies the undocumented driver's licenses, they don't belong in office, friends. They don't belong here. If they can't stand up and say, 'You know what? I'm not ever going to support a policy that denies prenatal care to the children of undocumented mothers', they don't belong here."

“I’M GONNA GO OUT THERE AN VOTE BECAUSE I WANT TO PAY THEM BACK!”
10. Gloria Molina, one of the five in Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors at Southwest Voter Registration Project Conference, 6/1996 "This community is no longer going to stand for it. Because tonight we are organizing across this country in a single mission, in a plan. We are going to organize like we've never organized before. We are going to go into our neighborhoods. We are going to register voters. We are going to talk to all of those young people that need to become registered voters and go out to vote and we're are politicizing every single one of those new citizens that are becoming citizens of this country. And what we are saying is by November we will have one million additional Latino voters in this country, and we're gonna march, and our vote is going to be important. But I gotta tell you, there's a lot of people that are saying, 'I'm gonna go out there and vote because I want to pay them back!' And this November we are going to remember those that stood with us and we are also going to remember those that have stood against us on the issues of immigration, on the issues of education, on the issues of health care, on the issues of the minimum wage."

“LONG LIVE OUR RACE!”
*
11. Vicky Castro, former member of Los Angeles Board of Education at Southwest Voter Registration Project Conference, 6/1996 "Que viva la raza, que viva la raza (long live our race)! I'm here to welcome all the new voters of 18 years old that we're registering now in our schools. Welcome, you're going to make a difference for Los Angeles, for San Antonio, for New York, and I thank Southwest for taking that challenge. And to the Mechistas (MEChA students) across this nation, you're going to make that difference for us, too. But when we register one more million voters I will not be the only Latina on the Board of Education of Los Angeles. And let me tell you here, no one will dismantle bilingual education in the United States of America. No one will deny an education to any child, especially Latino children. As you know, in Los Angeles we make up 70% of this school district. Of 600,000 -- 400,000 are Latinos, and our parents are not heard and they're going to be heard because in Los Angeles, San Antonio and Texas we have just classified 53,000 new citizens in one year that are going to be felt in November!"

Every one of them has trained people, clerks to take the fingerprints. Each one has the camera, that special camera. We have the application forms. And I'll tell you what we've done with I.N.S. Now we're even doing the testing that usually people had to go to INS to take, and pretty soon, hopefully, we'll do the final interviews in our schools. Incidentally, I started this very quietly because there are those that if they knew that we were creating a whole new cadre of brand new citizens it would have tremendous political impact. We will change the political panorama not only of L.A., but L.A. County and the State. And we do that we've changed the panorama of the nation. I'm proud to stand here and tell you that in those close to three years we have processed a little over 78,000 brand new citizens. That is the largest citizenship program in the entire nation."

Ernesto Zedillo, former president of Mexico announcing the Mexican constitutional amendment allowing for dual citizenship on 6/23/97 "I have proudly affirmed that the Mexican national extends beyond the territory enclosed by its borders, and that Mexican migrants are an important - a very important part of it. For that reason my government proposed a constitutional amendment to allow any Mexican with the right as he desires to acquire another nationality to do so without being forced to first give up his or her Mexican nationality. Fortunately, the amendment was passed almost unanimously by our federal Congress and is now part of our constitution. I am also here today to tell you that we want you to take pride in what each and every one of your Mexican brothers and sisters are doing back home.

We do the work in this city, we take care of the spoiled brat children, we clean their offices, we pick the food, we do the manufacturing in the factories of L.A., we are the majority here and we are not going to be pushed around. We're here in Westwood, this is the fourth time we've been here in the last two months, to show white Anglo-Saxon Protestant L.A., the few of you who remain, that we are the majority, and we claim this land as ours, it's always been ours, and we're still here, and none of the talk about deporting. If anyone's going to be deported it's going to be you! Go back to Simi Valley, you skunks! Go back to Woodland Hills! Go back to Boston! To back to the Plymouth Rock, Pilgrims! Get out! We are the future. You're old and tired. Go on. We have beaten you, leave like beaten rats. You old white people, it is your duty to die. Even their own ethicists say that they should die, that they have a duty to die. They're taking up too much space, too much air. We are the majority in L.A. There's over seven million Mexicans in L.A. County alone. We are the majority. And you're going to see every day more and more of it, as we manifest as our young people grow up, graduate from high school, go on to college and start taking over this society. The vast majority of our people are under the age of 15 years old. Right now we're already controlling those elections, whether it's by violence or nonviolence. Through love of having children we're going to take over." Other demonstrators: "Raza fuerza (brown race power), this is Aztlan, this is Mexico. They're the pilgrims on our land. Go back to the Nina, the Pinta, the Santa Maria."

Mexico's President Calderon . . . Is Still Trying to Shape U.S Immigration Policy Having just completed a 7-city tour of the U.S. in late February to promote amnesty plans by pressuring elected officials in the U.S., he's back again, meeting with leaders of immigrant groups and more U.S. officials trying to influence U.S. laws and immigration policy in favor of illegal aliens. Add to that the new partnering of the ACLU and the Mexican Government: "The [Mexican] national ombudsman, José Luis Soberanes Fernández, signed an agreement with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in the U.S., to develop a program of counseling and legal defense for affected migrants, called the Guardian Program. The [Mexican] National Commission of Human Rights (CNDH) reported in a communiqué that the agreement was formed in San Diego, California, and recalled that the Guardian Program has among their objectives to indict immigration agents that commit abuses... ...The president of the agency, upon signing the agreement, explained that, with the legal team of the ACLU and the CNDH, strategies will be explored and legal actions for fundamental rights violations cases against migrants will be presented, before courts in the United States "and, if necessary, before international courts".

HISPANDERING “YOU LIE” OBAMA – HANDING ILLEGALS HEALTH-CARE AND THEN LYING ABOUT IT.

PRNewswire September 8, 2009
WASHINGTON, Sept. 8 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As President Obama addresses the nation on health care reform, a new analysis by the Center for Immigration Studies estimates that 6.6 million uninsured illegal immigrants could receive benefits under the House health reform bill (H.R. 3200). While the bill states that illegal immigrants are not eligible for the new taxpayer-funded affordability credits, there is nothing in the bill to enforce this provision. Congress defeated efforts to require the use of the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) program. More than 70 other programs of this kind use SAVE.
The report is available at http://www.CIS.org/ IllegalsAndHealthCareHR3200. Among the findings:
-- In 2007, there were an estimated 6.6 million illegal immigrants without
health insurance who had incomes below 400 percent of poverty, which is
the income ceiling for the new affordability premium credits.
-- If all uninsured illegal immigrants with incomes below 400 percent of
poverty received the new credits, the estimated cost to the federal
government would be $30.5 billion annually.
-- The current cost of treating uninsured illegal immigrants at all levels
of government is an estimated $4.3 billion a year, primarily at
emergency rooms and free clinics.
-- On July 16 an amendment by Rep. Dean Heller (R-NV) that would have
required the use of the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements
(SAVE) program to prevent illegal immigrants from receiving the
affordability credits was defeated by the House Ways and Means
Committee.
-- At present 71 other means-tested federal programs require use of the
SAVE system to prevent illegal immigrants and other ineligible
non-citizens from accessing them.
-- Even though there is no mechanism to prevent enrollment, it is likely
that many income-eligible illegal immigrants would not enroll out of
fear or lack of knowledge of the new programs. Thus the actual costs
would be less than the maximum estimate of $30.5 billion. However, if
illegal immigrants are legalized and could receive affordability
credits, a much larger percentage would be expected to enroll, with a
corresponding increase in costs.
-- Uninsured illegal immigrants tend to use less in health care on average
than others without health insurance because they tend to be young. This
fact is incorporated into the current cost estimate of $4.3 billion.
However, government-provided affordability credits paid to insurance
companies are the same for everyone regardless of age or preexisting
conditions. Therefore, the younger age of illegals does not result in
lower average costs for taxpayers for this program.
-- It is also worth noting that the report estimates that 38 percent of
illegal immigrants had health insurance in 2007. Additionally, the
report estimates that there are at least 360,000 uninsured illegal
immigrants with incomes above 400 percent of poverty who would not
qualify for benefits under H.R. 3200.
-- It is also possible that illegal immigrants could benefit from the
expansion of Medicaid under H.R. 3200. The bill does not require
identity verification for those claiming U.S. birth. Of illegal
immigrants with incomes under 400 percent of poverty, about half live
under 133 percent of poverty, which is the new ceiling for Medicaid
eligibility.
-- On July 30 an amendment by Rep. Nathan Deal (R-GA) that would have
required identity variation for those claiming U.S. birth was defeated
by the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
Methodology: To estimate the number of illegal immigrants in the United States this report uses the March 2008 Current Population Survey (CPS) collected by the Census Bureau. While the CPS does not ask the foreign-born if they are legal residents, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), former INS, and other outside researchers have all used socio-demographic characteristics in Census Bureau data to estimate the size of the illegal alien population; this report follows the same approach. The March CPS also asks about income and health insurance coverage and on this basis the report estimates the share of low-income illegal immigrants who are without health insurance coverage. By design these estimates of the size and characteristics of the illegal-immigrant population match those
The Center for Immigration Studies is an independent research institution that examines the impact of immigration on the United States. It has no position on the health reform legislation before Congress or any other matter unrelated to immigration.

THE LA RAZA WHORES ARE BACK AT BIT BY BIT BY BIT FUCK THE GRINGOS OVER AMNESTY

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and a handful of her far-left cronies in Congress are plotting to put amnesty for 12-20 million illegal aliens back on the table! And their first order of business is BLOCKING a bill that would beef up border security and crack down on employers that hire illegal aliens. We're talking about the Secure America Through Verification and Enforcement Act of 2007 or SAVE Act of 2007 (HR 4088), an enforcement-only bill that will add 8,000 agents to secure our borders and implement systems that will allow employers to easily verify workers' immigration status. According to the Washington Times: "But House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the House Democratic leadership are open-borders advocates who want no part of the SAVE Act, and have thus far managed to keep the bill buried..." ....................................

THE REAL PELOSI, MULTI-MILLIONAIRE WINE BARONESS

Why Pelosi wants open borders

By Mick Gregory

Nancy Pelosi’s socialist political views are exactly what have kept her elected in San Francisco, along with the flow of union campaign money. The staunch “union supporter” Pelosi has even received the Cesar Chavez Award from the United Farm Workers Union. But her $25 million Napa vineyards and winery, she and her husband own is a non union shop.

The hypocrisy doesn’t stop there. Pelosi has received more money from the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees union than any other member of Congress in recent election cycles.
The multi millionaire investors own a large stake in an exclusive resort hotel in Wine Country, the Napa Valley Auberge Du Soleil Resort. It has more than 250 employees. But none of them are in a union, according to Peter Schweizer, author of “Do As I Say, (Not As I Do) – Hypocrisy of Democrats” and a regular contributor to the New York Times.

Pelosi is also partners in a restaurant chain called Piatti, which has 900 employees. The chain is – you might have guessed — a non union shop AND HIRES HUNDREDS OF ILLEGALS.

The 68 year old Pelosi has spent more money on facelifts and cosmetic enhancements, and Armani suits than any self centered, faded Hollywood star. But does Pelosi represent your 68 year old grandma’s values?

She has served on the executive committee of the Progressive Caucus, a socialist organization that, until 1999, was hosted by the Democratic Socialists Of America. They were asked to hide their connection after reviewing focus groups that show Americans still have negative feelings about Socialists. The Democrat leadership distanced themselves on paper to help the Democrats appear mainstream and elect Albert Gore.

HOW DO WE FIGHT TERRORISM WITH 38 MILLION RANTING MEXICAN FLAG WAVERS NOW IN THIS COUNTRY AND MEXICAN GANGS SPREADING OUT ALL OVER?

In an address she delivered in 2002, she remarked, “We must stand together in a bipartisan way to fight the war against terrorism.” Though she supported the Clinton Administration’s military actions and massive civilian deaths in Haiti, Kosovo, and Bosnia, she has denounced both the 1991 02 and 2004 06 wars in Iraq. Pelosi has also opposed President George W. Bush on most issues of Homeland Security, and has most recently joined the ACLU’s crusade to limit the powers of the Patriot Act.

THE TRUTH

PELOSI’S STAKE IN KEEPING THE OPEN BORDERS OPEN.....................You pick up the cost!
http://frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=25180

The Minuteman Project, founded by Jim Gilchrist (who is also the co author of the book Minutemen: The Battle to Secure America’s Borders), is made up of citizen volunteers who watch our border with Mexico and report illegal entry to the border patrol. For performing that thankless task in full compliance with the law, Gilchrist and his colleagues have been falsely maligned as fascists, racists, and even murderers. They have been driven off the speaker’s platform at Columbia University and vilified by Leftist politicians and their handmaidens in the liberal press.

So it was no surprise that the mainstream media chose to ignore a recent press release, issued by his publisher, in which Gilchrist asked the question about Nancy Pelosi’s ethics that should be on the minds of every law abiding American – including those immigrants who are following the law to become citizens here the proper way: “Do we really need a House Speaker whose every action is calculated to enhance her own financial interests, instead of focusing on how porous borders will affect the security of everyday American citizens?”

Gilchrist did not stop there. He demanded an investigation into Pelosi’s “economic stake in just the kind of illegal alien exploitation that we deplore in Minutemen.” But you would never know it from the liberal media, who while ignoring this demand have had no compunctions in calling for Speaker Hastert’s head in the wake of the Foley page controversy.

Gilchrist was reacting to my report several weeks ago in FrontPage Magazine that Pelosi – who owns non union vineyards in Napa Valley where grape picking depends chiefly on the availability of cheap foreign labor – is doing everything she can to help open the floodgates to more illegal immigration. And she wants the American taxpayers to pay their way. As even more proof of this than I previously reported, Pelosi does not want employers like her to be required to pay the cost of illegal aliens’ hospital care. She voted against a bill that would make employers liable for the reimbursements if an undocumented employee seeks medical attention. And she voted in favor of rewarding illegal aliens from Mexico with Social Security benefits.

At the same time, Pelosi has led the Democratic opposition to any effective border controls or documentation requirements. She opposed the Secure Fence Act of 2006, signed into law by President Bush, and voted against final passage of a border security and enforcement bill in 2005 which required that all businesses must use an electronic system to check if all new hires have the legal right to work in this country. She voted against a bill to bar drivers' licenses for illegal aliens in 2005. This year she opposed legislation requiring presentation of a legitimate government issued photo ID to prove eligibility to vote, claiming that “there is little evidence anywhere in the country of a significant problem with non citizen voters.” She is dead wrong. For example, an accused terrorist by the name of Nuradin Abdi was just recently reported to have illegally registered to vote at the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Nuradin Abdi was indicted earlier this year as part of a conspiracy to blow up the Columbus Mall.

How many other terrorist suspects may have slipped through the system because Leftists like Pelosi oppose any meaningful screens? Instead she continues to advocate our recognition of the flimsy, non validated ID card that the Mexican consulates provide to illegal aliens before they cross over our border, called the “matricula consular”, which gives them phony documentation to set up bank accounts, apply for jobs, obtain social benefits, board airplanes, identify themselves to police, enter buildings that require IDs, obtain drivers’ licenses and then perhaps use those drivers’ licenses to try to illegally register to vote in our elections.

Pelosi also believes in giving sanctuary to illegal aliens. She opposed legislation to deny federal homeland security funding to state and local governments who refuse to share information they learn about an individual's immigration status with Federal immigration authorities. Pelosi’s hometown of San Francisco is one of the sanctuary cities she voted to protect for the benefit of illegal aliens. Pelosi even voted against strengthening our immigration law with regard to the deportability of alien terrorists.

Jim Gilchrist cut to the chase with this devastating observation that the mainstream media does not want you to read:

"As we’ve shown again and again in ‘Minutemen,’ the Democrats aren’t just hypocrites, but are working actively to subvert our legislative system to their own ends. Their only goal is votes, votes and more votes, no matter where they come from, no matter if they’re cast legally, no matter whether the person casting them is dead, alive, a citizen or an illegal alien."

Pelosi sees Jim Gilchrist’s Minutemen Project as a threat to her pro illegal alien agenda. More illegal aliens mean more votes for the Democrats and more grape pickers for Napa Valley vineyards like hers. So she even voted against a measure that would have cut off the use of U.S. taxpayers’ funds to tip off illegal aliens as to where the Minutemen citizen patrols may be located! She obviously wants to see the Minutemen put out of business – permanently. She can count on the liberal press to distort the work of the Minutemen and to keep out of the public eye Gilchrist’s pointed questions about her motivations for helping illegal aliens during the run up to the mid term elections that may make her the next Speaker of the House.

Gilchrist, of course, is accustomed to being vilified and prevented by the Left from getting his message out. In early October, he was prevented from finishing his speech at the "Minutemen Forum" sponsored by the Columbia College Republicans. Gilchrist had spoken for just a few minutes and managed to utter the words “I love the First Amendment” when a group of radical protestors took the stage and interrupted him, displaying a big banner saying "There are no illegals." More protestors then stormed the stage. Chaos erupted and the audience members who had come to hear Gilchrist speak never got the chance, which was precisely the protestors’ objective. As reported online by the staff of Columbia’s undergraduate newspaper, “a mosh pit of triumphal students and community members danced and chanted outside, "Asian, Black, Brown and White, we smashed the Minutemen tonight!" They also put out a statement declaring:
“The Minutemen are not a legitimate voice in the debate on immigration. They are a racist, armed militia who have declared open hunting season on immigrants, causing countless hate crimes and over 3000 deaths on the border. Why should exploitative corporations have free passes between nations, but individual people not? No human being is illegal.” (Emphasis added)

We have come to the point in this country where a bunch of radical protestors get to decide who is and who is not a legitimate voice in the debate on as critical a public policy issue as immigration. Such Leftists think that migration in a borderless world is a basic human right. They want no barriers, no guards, and no proof of lawful residency. They certainly do not want the Minutemen watching the border and reporting illegal entry to the authorities.

Leftist slogans like “no human being is illegal” are red herrings. It is not the human being who is illegal; it is what the human being does that may be illegal. One’s conduct is the test, not simply who one is. Immigrants who follow our rules are welcome here. Those who do not abide by our laws have no right to be here. A person who breaks into your house without your permission does not deserve room, board and a job as a reward, even if the intruder may be much poorer than you. He has broken the law and deserves to be punished for what he has done. Our country’s boundaries and rules for entry and residency similarly define who is permitted to be here and how we choose to protect ourselves. We are a land of immigrants, but we are also a land of laws with certain core values. Those seeking to enter our country and remain here must learn to accommodate to our laws and values, not the other way around. That is the way prior generations of immigrants did it, including those who passed through Ellis Island. Why should the law be thrown aside now?

What we are witnessing is a frontal challenge to our nation’s sovereignty. Mexico’s Foreign Secretary wants to drag us before the United Nations for intending to build a fence on our side of the border with our money to keep out aliens who seek to enter our country illegally. They will probably get a sympathetic ear as some UN bureaucrats believe there should be no such thing as “illegal” immigrants in the first place. For the first time in our history, Americans are being asked to cede the right to decide how we define ourselves as a nation and protect our own borders to a globalist governance body. Will Pelosi lead her liberal loyalists as House Speaker to support the UN against America’s right to control its own borders? Do we really want to risk finding out?

It is high time, as Jim Gilchrist demanded in the press release ignored by the mainstream media, that Pelosi come clean under oath as to her personal stake in the illegal immigration issue before she can do even more damage as House Speaker.
