Hawley: Biden ‘Groveling’ to Saudi ‘Dictators’ for Oil is ‘Embarrassing’

(CNS News) -- Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) questioned President Joe Biden’s trip to Saudi Arabia today to try to combat high gasoline prices, saying it represents a “change in tone” towards the Muslim monarchy, and that “groveling to these dictators for an increase and begging for oil production is embarrassing.”

According to U.S. intelligence reports and other investigations, the Saudi crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), approved a plan to kill Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi. The writer was murdered and dismembered in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in 2018.

At the U.S. Capitol, CNS News asked Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), “Do you think it's appropriate for President Biden to travel to Saudi Arabia and meet with Mohammed bin Salman, the crown prince?”

Hawley said, “I mean, I guess it's up to him. I will say that it's certainly a change in tone from where he was earlier and what he said about the crown prince, and then go groveling to increase oil production is particularly embarrassing.”

“I mean, and for that matter, groveling to these dictators for an increase and begging for oil production is embarrassing,” said the senator.

Biden is expected to meet with Mohammed Bin Salman today, July 15, in a trip many suspect is crafted to secure more oil because domestic gasoline prices are very high.

When campaigning for office in 2020, Biden said, “I guarantee you, we’re going to end fossil fuels.” Once in office, Biden took action to reduce domestic oil production, including revoking the permit for the Keystone XL Pipeline, which was expected to carry 830,000 barrels per day of Alberta oil sands crude to Nebraska, according to CNBC.

Biden claimed that oil is not the purpose of this week’s trip. “The commitments from the Saudis don’t relate to anything having to do with energy,” he said. “It happens to be a larger meeting taking place in Saudi Arabia. That’s the reason I’m going. And it has to do with national security for them — for Israelis.”

In March 2022, it was reported that the crown princes of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates refused to take calls from Biden – calls that likely had to do with securing allies against Russia and ensuring continued access to oil. The crown princes denied these calls due to “unhappiness about Biden’s policies in the region,” reported the Times of Israel.

In a July 10 commentary, Biden wrote, “When I meet with Saudi leaders on Friday, my aim will be to strengthen a strategic partnership going forward that’s based on mutual interests and responsibilities, while also holding true to fundamental American values.”

The president also wrote, “My views on human rights are clear and long-standing, and fundamental freedoms are always on the agenda when I travel abroad.”

response-commentary was published in The Post on July 11, saying, “A grip-and-grin photograph with MBS [Mohammed bin Salman] signals to autocrats everywhere that you can quite literally get away with murdering a journalist as long as you possess a natural resource the United States wants badly enough.”

House Minority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) tweeted, “Why would President Biden plead for more Saudi Arabian oil when we could be producing more domestic energy right here in America? Our country should be producing more oil by Americans, for Americans.”

Sen. Cruz: ‘Biden is Groveling to the Saudis … It’s a Mess’

(CNS News) -- Senator Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) said President Joe Biden is "groveling to the Saudis" today because of the anti-energy "mess" his administration has produced.  But he added that it is “perfectly appropriate” for the president to discuss the issue with the Saudis.

On Thursday, CNS News asked the senator, “Is it appropriate for President Biden to travel to Saudi Arabia and meet with Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman?”

Cruz replied: “Saudi Arabia is an important ally. Part of the reason that Biden is having to travel there is that for the last year and a half, he’s bent over backwards to alienate that ally, which has not been in America’s national security interests.”

“Now, Biden is groveling to the Saudis, asking them to produce more oil, after Biden has spent a year and a half hammering U.S. oil and gas production,” said Cruz. “So, it’s a mess, but it’s perfectly appropriate for the president to have a conversation with the Saudis.”

‘Pariah’ No More: Joe Biden Defends Meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as Saudis Laugh

President Joe Biden defended his meeting with Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Friday, attempting to reassure critics that he brought up the murder of Saudi dissident Jamal Khashoggi during the meeting.

“I raised it at the top of the meeting making it clear what I thought about it at the time and what I think of it now,” Biden said.

The president commented on his discussion of Khashoggi during remarks with reporters after the meetings, insisting he was direct with the Saudis.

“I was straightforward and direct when discussing it,” Biden said. “I made my view crystal clear. I said very straightforwardly. For an American president to be silent on an issue of human rights is inconsistent with who we are and who I am.”

“What happened to Khashoggi was outrageous,” he added.

Biden said the crown prince told him he was not responsible for Khashoggi’s murder.

“He basically said he was not personally responsible for it, I indicated I thought he was,” he said. “I indicated he probably was. He said he was not personally responsible for it and he took action against those who were responsible.”

Biden said he continued the conversation by telling the crown prince that murdering dissidents of the Saudi Arabian government was “viewed as to me a violation of human rights.”

The president tried to defend his meetings with the Saudis, despite vowing to treat them as a “pariah” during his presidential campaign.

“I did not come here to meet with the crown prince,” Biden said, after fist-bumping Salman when he arrived at the palace.

Biden argued he accomplished “significant business” during his meetings with Saudi officials, including increasing the likelihood of the Saudis increasing oil production.

“We had a good discussion on ensuring global energy security and adequate oil supplies to support global economic growth and that will begin shortly,” Biden said, adding he expected future announcements from the Saudis on oil production within weeks.

Despite Biden’s effort to promote his meetings as a success, some prominent Saudis mocked him as “diminished.”

“President Biden, in my view, he’s coming as a much-diminished president than when he was first elected,” said Saudi Arabian Prince Turki Al-Faisal in an interview with CNBC.

Biden has repeatedly explained to foreign leaders that his stance on human rights is part of the American culture, even acknowledging that other countries have “different norms”

When questioned about his sincerity on the issue of human rights, Biden recalled he also spoke to Chinese dictator Xi Jinping about slave labor in Xinjiang.

“I said look, I’m the president of the United States of America, for the United States president to remain silent on a clear violation of human rights is totally inconsistent with who we are what we are and what we would do what we believe,” he said.

Biden has previously cited his private conversations with Xi as part of an understanding he has with the Chinese dictator on the issue of human rights.

“So, the idea that I’m not going to speak out against what he’s doing in Hong Kong, what he’s doing with the Uighurs in Western Mountains of China, and Taiwan, trying to end the one-China policy by making it forceful,” he said during a 2021 town hall with CNN. “I said, and he gets it, culturally there are different norms in each country, and their leaders are expected to follow.”

Saudi Diplomat Refuses to Commit to Boosting Oil Production, Claims Increasing Production Won’t Really Help U.S. Gas Prices

2:53

During an interview aired on Friday’s edition of CNN’s “Situation Room,” Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir, who was inside President Joe Biden’s meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, refused to commit to boosting oil production, denied Biden pressed them on the issue, and argued that “The problem of gasoline in the United States is more a function of the lack of refining capacity in the United States than a shortage of actual crude oil.”

Host Wolf Blitzer asked, “Did President Biden ask you, Saudi Arabia, to increase oil production with the hope that it would reduce the price of gasoline in the United States?”

Al-Jubeir answered, “Not in — with specificity because the president knows that [the] energy issue is an issue of supply and demand. It’s an issue of balancing markets. Saudi Arabia’s committed to ensuring stability in the oil markets. The U.S. government is aware of this. The issue of increases in prices of gasoline that we’ve seen recently are really a function of geopolitics and psychology more than they are about fundamental supply/demand. The problem of gasoline in the United States is more a function of the lack of refining capacity in the United States than a shortage of actual crude oil.”

Blitzer then asked, “But is Saudi Arabia ready to increase oil production?”

Al-Jubeir responded, “Saudi Arabia has made it very clear over the past decades that it seeks to [ensure] market stability, that it looks at the fundamentals of supply and demand, and that it works within OPEC and now within OPEC-plus to ensure that the markets are adequately supplied with crude oil. Saudi Arabia has increased its oil production over the past year substantially in accordance with the demands of the market, and this is a situation that is continuously being assessed by our Energy Ministry and by experts in this area to determine whether or not more oil is required or less oil is required.”

Blitzer then cut in to ask if Biden “pressed” the Saudis on this issue.

Al-Jubeir answered, “No, the president doesn’t press us on this issue. The president is aware that Saudi Arabia is keen on maintaining stability in the markets. Wolf, the President did not come here to press Saudi Arabia. The President came here to have a meeting with one of America’s most important allies in the world and in the region. We face common challenges that we need to work together in order to overcome. There are many opportunities for us that we want to avail ourselves of. He came here to consult on the various issues and how we can move forward in order to ensure that the next 80 years are as positive as the previous 80 years in our relationship.”

Saudi Diplomat Claims Biden ‘Took Saudi Arabia’s Assurances’ on Khashoggi ‘at Face Value’ after Biden Dismisses Them in Public

3:05

During an interview aired on Friday’s edition of CNN’s “Situation Room,” Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir, who was inside President Joe Biden’s meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, claimed that while Biden did mention the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, Biden “mentioned that he took Saudi Arabia’s assurances at face value” and that he believes Biden accepted Saudi Arabia’s explanation. Al-Jubeir also raised doubts that the U.S. intelligence community specifically concluded MBS was responsible for the murder while also casting doubt on the intelligence community’s credibility and claiming that presidents say on the campaign trail “sometimes doesn’t get reflected in terms of being in office because they have access to more intelligence, they have access to a fuller and broader picture when they do these things.”

Al-Jubeir stated, “At the beginning, during the reception, the president mentioned that this was an issue. He mentioned that he took Saudi Arabia’s assurances at face value. … [T]he Crown Prince explained to him that this was a tragedy for Saudi Arabia and that those who were responsible for it have been investigated and faced [the] law and are now paying the price for the crime that was committed and we — the conversation then moved on in terms of the official discussions.”

Host Wolf Blitzer then asked, “So, was it your impression, Minister, that President Biden accepted your explanation for the murder of Jamal Khashoggi?”

Al-Jubeir responded, “I believe so. But I — yeah, I believe so.”

Blitzer then asked, “And he didn’t raise it anymore throughout the course –.”

Al-Jubeir cut in to say, “What is there to raise, Wolf?”

Blitzer responded, “The U.S. intelligence community, as you know, concluded that the Crown Prince ordered, effectively ordered the killing of Jamal Khashoggi.”

Al-Jubeir stated, “I don’t believe that that was specified in those terms, one. Number two, it was an assessment. Number three, we know what the intelligence community’s assessment was with regards to Saddam Hussein having weapons of mass destruction. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia investigated this crime. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia held those responsible for it accountable and they are paying the price of the crime they committed as we speak.”

Blitzer then said, “President Biden, as a candidate, certainly believed the U.S. intelligence assessment.”

Al-Jubeir responded, “Wolf, you and I had a similar conversation with regards to what President Trump said when he was on the campaign trail. What happens — what people say on the campaign trail sometimes doesn’t get reflected in terms of being in office because they have access to more intelligence, they have access to a fuller and broader picture when they do these things.”

After the meeting, President Biden said he raised Khashoggi’s murder and that he believes the Crown Prince is responsible for it.

Report: Saudi Arabia Doubling Purchases of Cheap Russian Oil

The amount of Russian fuel oil imported by Saudi Arabia between April and June of this year more than doubled compared to last year, Reuters reported Friday.

“Data obtained by Reuters through Refinitiv Eikon ship tracking showed Saudi Arabia imported 647,000 tonnes (48,000 barrels per day) of fuel oil from Russia via Russian and Estonian ports in April-June this year. That was up from 320,000 tonnes in the same period a year ago,” the news agency reported on July 15.

Detailing the significance of the recent sales figures, Reuters wrote:

The increased sales of fuel oil, used in power generation, to Saudi Arabia show the challenge that U.S. President Joe Biden faces as his administration seeks to isolate Russia and cut its energy export revenues.

While many countries have banned or discouraged purchases from Russia, China, India and several African and Middle Eastern nations have increased imports.

Biden was on Friday visiting Saudi Arabia and was expected to seek an increase in oil supply to global markets from the kingdom to help to lower oil prices that have aggravated inflation worldwide.

The U.S. and other Western-allied nations have scaled back their Russian energy purchases since late February after Moscow launched its latest war with neighboring Ukraine. India and China have stepped in to fill this trade gap.

“The world’s second-biggest economy [China] imported about 8.42 million tons of oil from Russia last month, a 55% rise from a year ago,” Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported June 23.

“India bought six times more Russian oil from March to May compared with the same period last year,” AFP further noted, citing data from the research firm Rystad Energy.

Russia is reportedly selling its oil at steep discounts amid a Western boycott of the product. The low price point has allowed Moscow to skirt the intended effects of the embargo so far. Reuters reported on May 25 that Russian oil exports had not fallen to date despite a Western sanctions campaign against Moscow in response to its ongoing war with Ukraine. Many international traders have avoided buying Russian oil since the conflict launched on February 24 due to the sanctions’ secondary effects, such as disruptions to shipping procedures and payment systems.

Washington led the West in imposing a raft of financial sanctions on Russian companies and entities in late February to punish Moscow for invading Ukraine. The campaign has severely hampered Russian business transactions, including oil sales.

Saudi Arabia holds 15 percent of the world’s proven oil reserves and ranks as the top oil exporter globally. The Kingdom boasts the world’s “largest crude oil production capacity at nearly 12 million barrels per day,” according to U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). The EIA estimated Saudi Arabia’s crude oil production at 9.8 million barrels per day as of October 2021.

Riyadh has recently indicated a reluctance to increase its oil production, an action unofficially sought by Western leaders including U.S. President Joe Biden to reduce record-high fuel prices in countries such as the U.S.

Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman said on March 29 that attacks on Saudi oil facilities by Yemen’s Houthi terrorists in previous days had compromised Riyadh’s ability to provide the world with sufficient fuel supplies.

The Saudi energy minister referenced “attacks by Yemen’s Iran-backed Huthi rebels on Saudi oil facilities, including a wave of drone and missile strikes on Friday [March 25],” AFP reported at the time.

Bin Salman said the nefarious acts had “put into question our ability to supply the world with the necessary energy requirements.”

North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper (D) has vetoed for the second time legislation that would require local police departments to turn criminal illegal aliens over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) when they are arrested.

North Carolina’s Republican-controlled legislature had passed the legislation with no support from Democrats. The plan would require local police departments to notify ICE agents when a criminal illegal alien has been arrested on local charges.

Cooper vetoed the legislation this week, claiming it would spur “fear” in North Carolina.

“This law is only about scoring political points and using fear to divide North Carolinians,” Cooper said in a statement. “As the state’s former top law enforcement officer, I know that current law already allows the state to incarcerate and prosecute dangerous criminals regardless of immigration status.”

“This bill is unconstitutional and weakens law enforcement in North Carolina by mandating that sheriffs do the job of federal agents, using local resources that could hurt their ability to protect their counties,” Cooper continued.

Cooper’s vetoing of the legislation ensures that sanctuary jurisdictions can continue operating throughout North Carolina. Currently there are six sanctuary counties in the state — Mecklenburg County, Wake County, Durham County, Orange County, Forsyth County, and Buncombe County.

Feds Failed to Deport Illegal Alien Charged with Raping 10-Year-Old Girl

An illegal alien charged with raping a 10-year-old girl who later traveled to Indiana for an abortion successfully evaded deportation from the United States for years.

As Breitbart News reported, 27-year-old illegal alien Gerson Fuentes has been arrested and charged with raping a 10-year-old girl who then became pregnant. The girl’s case was later cited by President Joe Biden and the establishment media after she traveled to Indiana from Ohio to have an abortion on June 30 at six weeks and three days pregnant.

Fuentes, according to his attorney, has lived in the United States for at least seven years and worked at a cafe in Columbus, Ohio.

In a statement to Breitbart News, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) official said the agency had not previously encountered Fuentes and that he had “no previous immigration history.”

The ICE statement suggests that Fuentes likely arrived in the United States after successfully crossing the southern border without having been detected by Border Patrol agents. Every month, tens of thousands of illegal aliens enter the U.S. the same way.

The immigration enforcement failure speaks to a larger problem for the federal government, as millions of illegal aliens live in the U.S. without ever being encountered by ICE agents or deported. Their whereabouts are often unknown to agents.

Even as 11 to 22 million illegal aliens live in the United States, President Joe Biden’s administration deported fewer than 60,000 illegal aliens in fiscal year 2021 — a drop of more than 68 percent compared to fiscal year 2020, when more than 185,000 illegal aliens were deported, and a drop of 78 percent compared to fiscal year 2019, when more than a quarter of a million illegal aliens were deported.

Fuentes’s case swept international headlines after Biden repeated the story twice during speeches at the White House. He cited the case as evidence that girls and women would have to travel out of red states to seek abortions following the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade in June.

Despite Biden’s claims, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost noted that although Ohio has greatly limited abortion across the state, its law allows for medical emergencies, which include cases like the 10-year-old girl who was raped.

As Breitbart News reported, although Fuentes allegedly admitted to twice raping the 10-year-old girl, her mother seemingly defended him in an interview with Telemundo.

“… She’s fine. Everything that they’re saying against him is a lie,” the mother told Telemundo in Spanish.

Fuentes remains in the Franklin County jail on a $2 million bail. ICE agents have placed a detainer on him so that if he is released from local custody at any time, he will be turned over to their custody for arrest and deportation.

Deported Sex Offender Wanted for Child Fondling Arrested in AZ near Border

Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents arrested a migrant who had previously been deported as a convicted sex offender. Agents found the man has a warrant issued by an Indiana court where he is wanted for fondling a child.

Yuma Station agents arrested a migrant who illegally entered the U.S. During a records check, agents discovered the man, identified as Eloy Tecuanhuehue Hueyopa, had been removed from the U.S. by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers following a conviction for a sexual offense, according to Yuma Sector Chief Patrol Agent Chris T. Clem.

Further investigation revealed an extraditable warrant issued by a court in Indiana. The man is wanted in Indiana for a charge of fondling a charge, the chief reported. The chief did not disclose the convicted sex offender’s nationality.

Agents turned the man over to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office for legal proceedings related to the extraditable warrant.

Earlier this week, Chief Clem tweeted a photo showing the arrest of 45-year-old Miguel Garcia Lopez. During a records check, agents discovered the Mexican national received a conviction by a Florida court in 1998.

The court sentenced the Mexican migrant to 12 years in prison for the charge of Manslaughter/DUI.

Two-Front ‘Invasion’ – Biden’s Massive Illegal Migrant Surges in Florida and Texas

-

ANALYSIS – Thanks to Team Biden’s horrible immigration and border policies which essentially dismantled President Trump’s effective policies immediately upon Biden’s inauguration, the country is now facing two separate illegal migrant crises.

The first, better-known one is in Texas where hundreds of thousands of migrants are flooding regularly across the border, but now we are seeing a second wave of migrants surging toward the U.S. from the Caribbean into .

The  Examiner reports:

As record numbers of Cubans and Haitians attempt to cross the southern land border illegally, others are increasingly taking to the sea.  authorities with the Coast Guard told the Washington Examiner its personnel are interdicting more migrants at sea than ever before.

However, these illegal migrants are generally not counted in the numbers provided by the Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Aaron Reichlin-Melnick, policy director at the Washington-based American Immigration Council, wrote in a message to the Examiner:

Interdiction at sea is a Coast Guard function and individuals who are intercepted at sea do not get processed under immigration laws. Haitians … are taken back to Guantanamo Bay and processed at the Migrant Operations Center (MOC), then deported back to their home countries.

But Cubans and Haitians are also crossing by land. More than 170,000 people from Cuba and Haiti have attempted to cross the U.S.-Mexico border since last October — 10 times more than all of 2020 and the highest-ever number of Cubans and Haitians seeking asylum in the U.S.

This Border Dem Represented Drug Smugglers and Gang Leaders. Now, He Preaches ‘Law and Order.’

Vicente Gonzalez's South Texas district has long history of cartel activity

Rep. Vicente Gonzales (WikiMedia Commons)

SHARE

Before joining Congress, Vicente Gonzalez agreed to legally represent drug smugglers and gang leaders who flooded his border community with illegal drugs. Now, the Texas Democrat stresses the need to stop the flow of drugs and maintain "law and order."

In 1997, Gonzalez founded his law firm, V.

Gonzalez and Associates, through which the

multimillionaire Democrat still earns tens of

thousands of dollars a year. One year later,

Gonzalez was retained to represent Richard

Contreras, who pleaded guilty to federal

charges after he conspired to import

more than 2,200 pounds of marijuana from

Mexico, court documents show.

In 1999, meanwhile, Gonzalez was retained to defend Frank Tijerina, the leader of a Texas street gang called the "Corrupt Criminal Mob." Tijerina was sentenced to 30 months in prison on federal drug charges after conspiring to distribute nearly $420,000 worth of marijuana. Tijerina later pleaded guilty to selling large quantities of meth in a scheme that also started in the late 1990s. In total, Gonzalez agreed to represent an array of felony drug dealers who conspired to distribute eight pounds of MDMA, nearly half a pound of cocaine, and more than 4,000 pounds of marijuana, easily worth millions of dollars.

Gonzalez's decision to represent high-level drug dealers in his South Texas border community—long a hotspot for Mexican cartels working to traffic narcotics into the United States—is at odds with the Democrat's rhetoric as a member of Congress. In June 2018, Gonzalez called himself a "law and order member" who "believe[s] in strict border security." Two months later, the Democrat said he was working to "bring security to our border" and ensure "drugs are not coming across as freely as they are now." The issue could haunt his campaign as voters sour on President Joe Biden's border policies amid record-high illegal immigrant encounters—according to a February Harvard CAPS-Harris poll, just 32 percent of voters approve of Biden's handling of immigration.

A former Border Patrol agent who served in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, which Gonzalez represents, criticized the Democrat for the "stark inconsistencies" between "where he's at today versus what he did before." "Most South Texas Democrats act as if they're not threatened to lose their jobs," the former agent told the Washington Free Beacon. "[Gonzalez] is on that list—he's been very comfortable, at least until now."

Gonzalez's campaign, which touts his record as an attorney, did not return a request for comment.

McAllen, Texas, where Gonzalez lives, is no stranger to cartel activity. The city borders the Mexican city of Reynosa, which is known as a "key trafficking point" for "cartel violence." As a result, the New York Post reported in 2019, McAllen is "‘ground zero' in the border crisis between the U.S. and Mexico" and even features "a new Maserati dealership and ads for Rolex and Cartier watches" as cartel traffickers look to launder their cash. Roughly two decades earlier—as Gonzalez defended drug dealers in the area—federal agents arrested individuals in McAllen and nearby Brownsville who were implicated in a Mexican trafficking ring that held more than 5,200 kilograms of cocaine, nearly 10,000 pounds of marijuana, and roughly $11 million in cash, according to a Drug Enforcement Administration press release.

Despite the long-standing flow of cartel drugs into McAllen, Gonzalez has criticized former president Donald Trump's border wall, which he called "useless" and "wasteful." Instead of funding the wall, the Democrat argued, Congress should send billions of dollars to Central American countries to slow illegal immigration. Gonzalez also said the idea that the wall would "stop illegal drugs from coming to our country" is a "myth." Former U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement acting director Ronald Vitiello disputed that claim, calling the wall an "important" tool that "makes the work of agents safer."

"It provides an anchor for the operation, it provides an anchor for technology, and it makes the agents safer, because they have the ability to slow people down and have this base of operations," Vitiello told the Free Beacon. "So saying that doesn't work is not an informed opinion. It doesn't comport with my experience and wisdom."

Gonzalez made big money from his legal career, his financial disclosures show. The Democrat owns an array of rental properties—his latest disclosure lists eight in McAllen, two in Washington, D.C., one in Monterrey, Mexico, and one in Madrid, Spain. Those properties earned Gonzalez at least $235,000 in 2020. Gonzalez also earned a combined $280,000 in "attorney fees" income from his law firm in 2019 and 2020, according to his disclosures.

Gonzalez in 2020 narrowly defeated Republican challenger Monica De La Cruz in Texas's 15th Congressional District. One year later, he announced his decision to run in the 34th Congressional District in 2022, as the state's redistricting process made that area considerably more blue. Still, Republicans are hopeful that Republican congresswoman Mayra Flores can give Gonzalez a run for his money in November.

Flores in June became both the first Mexican-born woman elected to Congress and the first Republican to represent parts of the 34th Congressional District since 1870 after she won a special election against Democrat Dan Sanchez. That race saw Flores best Sanchez in historical Democratic strongholds—the Republican, for example, won in Cameron County, which is 90 percent Hispanic and voted for Biden by double digits less than two years ago. After her win, the New York Times said Flores's win marked "the rise of the far-right Latina," citing the Republican's support for religiosity, strong borders, and traditional values.

Feds Seize 5,000 Pounds of Meth Setting Record for California Border County

4U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California

Federal and local law enforcement officials seized a record-setting load of cartel-connected methamphetamine in San Diego County, California. The drugs, loaded 20-foot box truck, weighed in excess of 5,000 pounds and are reported to be the largest seizure in San Diego County.

During the afternoon of July 7, federal officials observed a box truck enter the U.S. through the Otay Mesa Commercial Port of Entry, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California. Law enforcement agencies surveilled the truck to its destination in National City, California. The agents watched as the alleged drug smugglers unloaded the truck into a Dodge van.

At that point, law enforcement officers moved in and arrested Rafael Alzua, 37; Mario Contreras, 41; Ethgar Velazquez, 44; and Galdrino Contreras, 41, prosecutors stated. Officials listed all four suspects as residents of Tijuana, Mexico.

An inspection of the boxes revealed more than 5,000 pounds of drugs that later tested positive for methamphetamine.

“This is a significant accomplishment by our law enforcement partners,” U.S. Attorney Randy Grossman said in a written statement. “Due to stellar work by law enforcement agents, the government stopped more than 5,000 pounds of methamphetamine from being distributed on our streets.”

The case is being investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, Border Crime Suppression Team, Homeland Security Investigations, and the United States Border Patrol.

DEA Special Agent in Charge Shelly S. Howe stated, “This monumental seizure represents another win against drug cartels that fuel addiction in the United States. Because of our great partnerships with other law enforcement agencies, we will continue to disrupt the cartels’ flow of drugs into our cities.”

San Diego County Sheriff Anthony C. Ray added, “I am grateful for the hard work, vigilance, and steadfast dedication of our Sheriff’s Detectives, as well as our local, state, and federal partners. Our partnership and collaboration allow us to share information that is absolutely critical in keeping drugs from entering our streets and holding drug traffickers accountable.”

The four men from Mexico now face charges of Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine. If convicted, each could face a prison term of ten years to life and a fine of up to $10 million.

Court records were not yet available in the document tracking system.

EXCLUSIVE DOCUMENTS: Mexican Governor is the Nephew of a Cartel Boss in U.S. Custody

Facebook Alfredo Ramirez Bedolla

ILDEFONSO ORTIZ and BRANDON DARBY

15 Jun 20220

3:18

The governor of a Mexican state plagued with cartel violence for years is the nephew of a cartel boss and a cousin to another. Both face drug charges in a U.S court. Breitbart Texas obtained birth certificates confirming the familial relationships between the governor and the crime bosses. The politician has denied such familial connections in the past.

This week, Adalberto Fructoso “Fruto” Comparan Rodriguez, the former mayor of Aguililla, Michoacan, and son Adalberto Fructoso Comparan Bedolla, along with four other cartel members, went before a federal judge in Florida this week. They were notified of the drug charges against them and were ordered to be held without bond.
Breitbart Texas obtained Mexican birth certificates showing the relationships between current Michoacan Governor Alfredo Ramirez Bedolla and the accused through marriage. La Silla Rota had published information about Ramirez’s relatives during his gubernatorial race in 2021, but only now do documents publicly confirm the connections.

The wife of Comparan Rodriguez is Anabel Bedolla Marin from Aguililla, Michoacan — a region under the control of Carteles Unidos.

Anabel Bedolla is the sister of Maria de Jesus Bedolla Marin, who is the mother of the politician.

Ramirez Bedolla, born in Morelia, Michoacan, had previously tried to minimize his relationship by claiming his aunt and uncle were separated for more than 10 years and had no contact with them.

Comparan Rodriguez is accused of being one of the leaders of Carteles Unidos in Michoacan and responsible for large-scale shipments of meth into the U.S. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Comparan Rodriguez would hide the drugs inside concrete tiles and dilute meth in paint. Authorities in Guatemala arrested Comparan Rodriguez in March 2021 and helped get him extradited to the U.S. in January 2022. Authorities arrested his son, Comparan Bedolla, in March 2021 in Miami while they reportedly tried to remove liquid meth from paint.

Michoacan is one of the most violent states in Mexico due to a violent turf war between Carteles Unidos (a collection of smaller organizations and “self-defense” groups) against Cartel Jalisco New Generation for control of vast drug production areas and smuggling corridors. Mexico’s federal government has been unable to reduce violence in the region.

Biden's Deathly Presidency

By Jeffrey Folks

For four years under President Trump, America enjoyed peace, security, and unparalleled prosperity.  Trump's presidency was a historic era of good times in which we began to regain faith in the American Dream.  Now we have the nightmare, and the death and destruction that go with it.

Yes, the Trump Era was prosperous, with historically low unemployment rates, low inflation, energy independence, and rising wages.  But aside from that, the most important thing about Trump's presidency was the fact that Americans were secure, as they had not been under Obama and certainly are not under Biden.  Under Trump, America was in so many senses vibrant and "alive" with pride in our country and hope for its future.

Now we have regular mass shootings in which citizens disarmed by the State have no way to defend themselves.  Overseas, we have a war in Ukraine, the threat of a Chinese invasion of Taiwan, and Iran developing nuclear weapons with the encouragement of the Biden administration.  The common thread is death and the fear that goes with it.  And this does not even include Biden's aggressive defense of abortion on demand.

Under President Trump, I lived without fear.  I knew that Trump supported my right to defend my home and that he supported the police who defended me as well.  Just having the president and his administration on my side made me breathe easier.  America was moving in the right direction, as was confirmed by every opinion poll during Trump's time in office before COVID was unleashed.

Long-term death rates are more a matter of demographics than policy, and they have been rising ever since Obama took office in 2008.  But murder rates, deaths in war and civil unrest, drug overdose deaths, and accidental deaths are attributable to policy, and they have been rising under Biden, even during his short time in office.  Under Biden, the U.S. murder rate, which had been declining under President Trump, is the highest in 25 years.  According to former N.Y. police commissioner Howard Safir, the spike in violence is partly attributable to lack of support for police and soft-on-crime prosecutors.  And it is Biden, with his anti-police rhetoric and refusal to prosecute (as in the case of those picketing Justice Kavanaugh's home), who is responsible for this climate of anarchy.

Now I plan my trips carefully, avoid eye contact with strangers, and carry only a driver's license and credit card.  I drive inconspicuously as well, given the explosion of road rage incidents.

The most galling thing is that Biden never says a word about the victims of crime unless he can twist the incident into an anti-gun lecture, and he takes no action to protect anyone, especially law-abiding citizens in middle-class neighborhoods like my own.  In this and so many other ways, he seems on the side of those who wish to destroy us.  It's no accident that murder rates are spiraling at home and war is breaking out overseas.  Both are a response to Biden's weakness, and death is the consequence.

I fear there will be more death ahead.  I expect an invasion in Taiwan, Moldova, or Finland, and new outbreaks of violence in the Middle East involving either Iran or its surrogates.  The incomprehensible Iran deal, which Biden is pushing, would "make Biden 'the biggest funder of terrorism in the world,'" according to Rep. Jim Banks.  "Terrorism" is not just a derogatory word; it is the act of murdering innocent human beings, including women and children.  Hasn't that fact entered into Biden's Iran deal calculations?

Biden's weakness has emboldened our enemies, and their actions pose a threat to our security.  This is the way major wars begin.  They can be prevented only by the projection of force of the kind we saw under President Trump, and Biden projects about as much force as a lady's fan.  His weakness will get us into another war, and our young men and women will die in that war.  There is death hanging over us, and Biden seems oblivious, fumbling with his note cards to find some kind of answer.

There is a new national mood in America unlike anything I've seen since the 1960s: a sense of foreboding and caution based on the very real threat of violence and collapse.  There are more threats to our country, including the wealth destruction of inflation, to which Biden simply rolls his eyes, chuckles, and whispers some idiotic riposte.  There are more criminal gangs, and Biden just welcomes more in.  There is more road rage, more random shooting, more felons out on no bond/low bond.  And there is a callous and brutal disregard for the lives of the unborn.

In response to the mounting violence, Biden seems remote, fuddling with his microphone like a man slipping into dementia, and those around him seem inept, if not callous, including his new press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, who is said to have "frequently stumbled" during her first weeks.  A president who is weak and advisers who are incompetent and anti-American to boot — that is a recipe for disaster, and disaster will end, as it always does, in poverty, destruction, and death.

There are bullies in the world who watched as Biden stumbled out of Afghanistan, and bullies don't have much respect for doddering fools who just want to survive a four-year term and leave a mess for someone else to clean up.

As a citizen, it is difficult to watch my country besieged by violence.  Biden's presidency has been deadly in every respect: turning off economic growth and imposing environmental restrictions, proposing inflation-adjusted cuts in national defense while paying off student loans, and putting citizens at risk with his anti-police rhetoric.

There is little chance of a second Biden term, but just another two and a half years is painful to imagine.  How many thousands will lose their lives because of one incompetent and wrong-headed leader?  How far will America go into danger and destruction?  And how much more difficult will it be for our next president, Trump or a Trump lookalike, to repair the damage and Make America Safe Again?

The same continent-wide superstate was pushed in 2001 by President G.W. Bush and Mexico’s then-president, Vicente Fox. Their unpopular “Any Willing Worker” plan would have allowed U.S. employers to easily import low-wage employees from central and south America. It was derailed following the 9/11 attack.
