President Joe Biden’s flood of legal and illegal migrants is inflating the costs that ordinary Americans and their grown children must pay for housing, according to the Wall Street Journal.

“Global Migration Boom Keeps Housing Costs High: Surging immigration is boosting rents and supporting home prices, complicating inflation flight,” said the headline above a July 15 article in the Wall Street Journal.

The report cited a May study by Goldman Sachs, which said in an email that “rebounding immigration” is helping investors by bumping up housing prices:

[A] post-pandemic recovery in immigration appears to be boosting population growth, thereby lifting housing demand and limiting house price downside (Exhibit 5). This dynamic appears especially important in Canada and Australia, where immigration and population growth have rebounded most strongly.

Similarly, an investigation of 18 countries by Canada’s leading bank, the Bank of Montreal, concluded that a one percent hike in population — via migration births or migration — spikes housing prices by three percent. In an email to Breitbart News:

We have shown in the past that there is a very clear-cut positive relationship between population growth and real home price increases (roughly, every 1% rise in the former translates to a 3% increase in the latter. For inflation, the relationship is less obvious. But, looking at 18 countries from 1999 to 2022 suggests that there is at least a weak positive relationship.

Establishment media outlets rarely recognize the impact of migration on housing, even when reporters try to cover the overcrowding and crime in taxpayer-funded shelters for migrants. This silence is also seen in many polls that portray immigration as a non-economic issue unrelated to housing or wages.

But Breitbart News has extensively covered the huge impact of migration on housing and wages in the United States, Canada, Australia, and other countries.

Since January 2021, President Joe Biden has admitted roughly eight million migrants into the United States, about one migrant for every American birth during the same period.

His flood includes roughly 3.2 million migrants welcomed across the southern border, 1.5 million “got-away” people who were allowed to sneak across the border, 800,000 “overstay” illegals in 2022, two million legal immigrants, and more than 500,000 temporary white-collar workers.

This Biden flood doubled the nation’s population growth, creating a population shock that was bound to impact housing prices.

In the United States, the inflation in housing “was by far the biggest contributor” to inflation in March 2023, said a tweet by Kathy Jones, an economist at Charles Schwab & Co. Her tweeted chart shows the dominant share of shelter inflation in dark blue:

The flood of immigrants and the resulting price hikes are pushing up rents along the coasts and in the interior states. USAToday.com reported on July 5:

In Columbia, Tennessee, an hour outside Nashville, tenants have been organizing after seeing their rents explode in the past several years, causing more people to become homeless.

Judy Schwartz-Naber, a Walgreen’s employee … has seen her rent double from $450 to $900 a month in the past seven years. She said there’s “a lot of fear out there” as people face more threats of eviction.

The high price of city housing also keeps many young Americans in their rural communities, while migrants and their children crowd into urban housing. This process ensures that migrants and their children get the economic opportunities of urban living that would otherwise have gone to Americans’ kids, according to a pro-migration academic, Leah Boustan. “No matter which country their parents came from, children of immigrants are more likely than the children of the U.S.-born to surpass their parents’ incomes when they are adults,” economic historians said in a 2022 article for Time.com.

“Of all the worrisome trends in the American economy, the easiest one to turn around with the greatest downstream positives is to stop artificially juicing demand for housing through loose border policies,” Andrew Good, an analyst at NumbersUSA — an immigration reform group — told Breitbart News.

Real estate investors have a major influence over the GOP and the Democrat Party. On July 18, the New York Timesketched the huge role of real estate investors in New York politics:

[Mayor Eric] Adams has raised $1.3 million since January for his 2025 re-election effort in the latest reporting period, drawing maximum $2,100 donations from real estate magnates like Marc Holliday, the chief executive of SL Green, the city’s largest commercial landlord, and its founder, Steve Green; and Alexander and Helena Durst, members of The Durst Organization real estate dynasty, according to new filings with the city’s Campaign Finance Board.

About $550,000 came from donors outside New York City who live in the suburbs, Florida and other states — a continuation of a pattern displayed early in his tenure, when he held fund-raisers in Beverly Hills and Chicago in his first months in office.

The real estate industry once again also provided the largest donor base for Gov. Kathy Hochul, a Buffalo Democrat who narrowly won a full four-year term in November. Of the $4.5 million her campaign raised in the first six months of the year, more than $950,000 came from developers and real estate investors, and more from other industries with business before the state, according to an analysis of her public filings by The Times.

“Most of our elites are dead set against slowing down the [migration] train,” Good said, adding, “Voters have to make an off-ramp for themselves, and even more crucially, for their kids and grandkids.”

Extraction Migration

The federal government has long operated an unpopular economic policy of Extraction Migration. This colonialism-like policy extracts vast amounts of human resources from needy countries, reduces beneficial trade, and uses the imported workers, renters, and consumers to grow Wall Street and the economy.

The migrant inflow has successfully forced down Americans’ wages and boosted rents and housing prices. The inflow of compliant and hardworking migrants has also pushed many ordinary or less-productive Americans out of careers in a wide variety of business sectors and has contributed to the rising death rate of poor Americans.

The lethal policy sucks jobs and wealth from heartland states by subsidizing coastal investors with a flood of low-wage workers, high-occupancy renters, and government-aided consumers.

The population inflow also reduces the political clout of native-born Americans because the population replacement allows elites to divorce themselves from the needs and interests of ordinary Americans.

In many speeches, border chief Alejandro Mayorkas says he is building a mass migration system to deliver workers to wealthy employers and investors and “equity” to poor foreigners. The nation’s border laws are subordinate to elite opinion about “the values of our country” Mayorkas claims.

Migration — and especially labor migration — is unpopular among swing voters. A 54 percent majority of Americans say Biden is allowing a southern border invasion, according to an August 2022 poll commissioned by the left-of-center National Public Radio (NPR). The 54 percent “Invasion” majority included 76 percent of Republicans, 46 percent of independents, and even 40 percent of Democrats.

WILL YOU VOTE AGAIN FOR NAFTA JOE BIDEN AFTER HE AND MAYORAS USHERED OVER THE BORDER MILLIONS DURING A TIME OF HOMELESS AND HOUSING CRISIS?

New York Comptroller: Taxpayers Fleeing, Slowing Economy Are Driving $36 Billion Budget Shortfall

On Friday’s broadcast of the Fox Business Network’s “Cavuto: Coast to Coast,” New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli (D) discussed the state’s projected $36 billion budget shortfall over three years and stated that taxpayers leaving the state is part of the issue along with the fact that the economy is slowing down.

DiNapoli stated, “I think there are a couple of factors happening: There’s no doubt the economy certainly is slowing and we are feeling the effects in the current year collections of the slowdown, as far as financial services, Wall Street’s a very important part of the economy in New York State, so it’s kind of catching up. And, in terms of our budget planning process, in New York, we have a somewhat strange calendar of the fiscal year. It starts on April 1, and, of course, you don’t have your hard tax collection date until April 15. So, the budget that was put in place, frankly, was based on more optimistic numbers. But, in the current financial plan — the Division of Budget — was taken down each year for the next few years, $5 billion in revenue and we’re now slightly ahead of current updated projections, which have been lowered, but the weakness, Neil, has been in the personal income tax collections.”

'We Have No More Room': 'Sanctuary' NYC Mayor Pleads For Help Amid Migrant Influx

During a Wednesday press conference, NYC Mayor Eric Adams admitted defeat to the immigrant bussing policies of Texas and Florida.

For over a year, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Texas Governor Greg Abbott have shipped illegal immigrants from the southern border to places like New York City and Chicago. This policy keeps their states free–and shows the liberal states the tangible, difficult results of leftism.

Now, Adams has finally called for help.

“We stated several months ago that we have reached full capacity, and that full capacity was verbalized, and now New York is just going to be visually actualized,” Adams claimed. “We’re going to see how much of our cup has basically runneth over. We have no more room in the city, and we need help.”

As a result, Adams is calling upon the state and federal governments for assistance, blaming them for leaving New York City helpless.

“This cannot continue, is not sustainable, and we’re not going to pretend as though it is sustainable,” Adams declared. “This is wrong that New York City is carrying the weight of a national problem.”

Adams followed up his plea for help with unflattering words for Abbott.

“Unlike Texas, where Governor Abbott is ordering troops to push migrant children into the Rio Grande and deny asylum seekers drinking water, our city has continued to respond with humanity and compassion," he accused.

Here’s hoping that the immigrant influx will help leftist states realize that America is, indeed, the best country on Earth – and we need to secure our borders to keep it that way.

Upstate Motel Kicks Out Guests After NYC Moves Migrants In

A motel in upstate New York kicked out guests this week to make room for a busload of migrants from New York City.

The facility, a Super 8 motel in Rotterdam, kicked guests out without warning, including some in poverty, the Times Union reported. Officials reportedly had signed a contract with the hotel to house the migrants who originally were sent from Texas.

"There are so many questions we have," Rotterdam town supervisor Mollie Collins said. "Because we haven’t been given any information."

Some of those kicked out of their rooms were people who get assistance from the Department of Social Services in Montgomery County, a neighboring jurisdiction.

New York City mayor Eric Adams (D.), who has overseen the busing of migrants to other parts of the state despite advertising his city as a sanctuary city, said the displaced guests were offered "extended stay" lodging at no charge nearby.

"Guests at that hotel were all offered to be relocated and booked for an extended stay at a comparable hotel in the same area free of charge," Adams’s office said. "All but one reservation took our contractor up on that offer and instead preferred to be re-booked at the comparable hotel on a daily basis, which we facilitated."

New York City this week announced it will distribute notices at the U.S.-Mexico border to tell migrants to "consider another city."

"Please consider another city as you make your decision about where to settle in the U.S.," the notice reads in English and Spanish.

New York City sued counties that refused to accept migrants from the city in June. Thirty-three counties and one town were named in the suit. The localities filed emergency orders to keep migrants bused in from New York City from staying in their hotels.

Adams first called for busing migrants to surrounding counties in May. Localities quickly declared emergencies, including Rockland and Orange Counties, which were slated to receive hundreds of migrants to fill their hotels. Both counties are named in the suit.

Adams has criticized Texas governor Greg Abbott (R.) for "deciding to play politics with people's lives" by busing migrants to other states.

"Yes, New York City will remain a sanctuary city under an Adams administration," Adams tweeted while campaigning for mayor in 2021.

Mayor Eric Adams Giving Fliers to Illegal Aliens at Border Begging Them Not to Resettle in Sanctuary City NYC

Mayor Eric Adams’ administration will begin warning illegal aliens at the United States-Mexico border not to travel and resettle in New York City, telling them that the cost of housing is high and that they are not guaranteed shelter or care.

Since the spring of last year, more than 90,000 border crossers and illegal aliens have arrived in sanctuary New York City. The majority, about 55,000, are living off local taxpayers in city-run hotel rooms, shelters, and other facilities.

Now, Adams has said his office will begin issuing fliers to border crossers and illegal aliens begging them not to travel to New York City — warning them about the high cost of living and housing prices and asking them to “please consider another city” to resettle.

Flier via NYC.gov

On Thursday, Adams said New York City has “reached full capacity.”

“We’re going to see how much of our cup has basically runneth over. We have no more room in the city and we need help,” Adams said.

Last month, Breitbart News reported how Adams has started sending border crossers and illegal aliens to other states and cities — a policy he has long blasted Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott (R) for implementing, calling it “anti-American.”

The sheer volume of border crossers and illegal aliens staying in shelters has increased the system’s population by more than 110 percent since Adams took office. To afford subsidizing new arrivals, Adams has said New Yorkers will see public services like meals for senior citizens and library hours cut.

Every day, illegal immigration is costing New Yorkers nearly $8 million, and by the middle of next year, Adams predicts it will have cost more than $4.2 billion.

Report: ‘Dangerous’ NYC Migrant Shelters Filled with Gang Members

New York City’s migrant shelters are plagued with “volatile” and “dangerous” conditions, prompting a search by city officials to hire private security guards for the facilities, a report details.

Since the spring of last year, more than 84,000 border crossers and illegal aliens have arrived in New York City with about 50,000 remaining in shelters across the city, now outnumbering native New Yorkers.

Gregory Floyd with Teamsters Local 237 told the New York Post that the migrant shelters are too dangerous for the unarmed peace officers he represents. Some, Floyd said, are gang members.

“There are migrants who are gang members in these facilities,” Floyd told the Post.

“It’s volatile. It’s dangerous,” he continued. “We don’t know if all these migrants are properly vetted. My members are unarmed.”

As Breitbart News reported, more than six-in-ten border crossers and illegal aliens who have arrived in New York City since the spring of last year are living off local taxpayers in subsidized housing and shelters — including luxury hotels like the Roosevelt Hotel.

The sheer volume of border crossers and illegal aliens staying in shelters has increased the system’s population by more than 110 percent since Adams took office. To afford subsidizing new arrivals, Adams has said New Yorkers will see public services like meals for senior citizens and library hours cut.

Empty suit, empty suites: Joe Biden's government of empty buildings

We often ask who's running the government with a White House led by doddering Joe Biden.

But with a new audit out, maybe the real question is what is the government.

According to the Washington Examiner:

The evacuation of federal headquarters during the COVID-19 crisis appears to have become permanent and costly with up to 90% of several agency headquarters empty, according to a federal audit.

At least 6 of 24 Washington area headquarters are 90% empty, including several that manage federal office space and employees such as the General Services Administration and the Office of Personnel Management.

The audit from the Government Accountability Office found that just six agencies were operating with half of their staff in the office during the first three months of 2023, the latest sign that efforts to get federal employees back into the office after the coronavirus crisis and after years of encouraging telework have failed.

The findings echo private sector reports. In Washington, private offices are less than 40% full.

Turns out the government buildings Joe Biden presides over in his expensive, bloated government are about as empty as the old dotard's head.

It's like we have a pretend president, presiding over a pretend government.

Practically every agency headquarters is something like 80% empty.

But the empty buildings still stand, as if to suggest that something had been there. Mainly, it's the illusion of power and importance.

Overall, Uncle Sam owns or leases 511 million square feet. That includes some 1,500 buildings and 7,685 leases. It costs $7 billion a year to maintain buildings and lease others, said GAO.

The auditing agency urged headquarters to consider consolidating or dumping space and to even consider joining with other agencies to share space.

But many rejected that advice. “One official said their leadership is reluctant to share headquarters space with other agencies because it could lower their perceived standing as a cabinet-level agency,” said the audit report.

One thing the audit also notes is that these empty buildings waste a lot of electricity even with no one in them. So as Joe Biden tries to shove us into green vehicles and pay more at the pump to bankroll his energy transition, he's busy burning electricity ... on nothing.

The Wall Street Journal, in an editorial on the matter, has noted that even the worst empty building problems in the private sector, such as vacant office towers in big blue-run cities, are dwarfed by the emptiness of the federal government buildings

The near-uniform emptiness across different agencies is another way the government stands out. Weekly attendance in the bottom quarter of surveyed offices is a measly 9%, and not one reported attendance above 50%. Compare that with corporate offices in New York, where average in-office attendance surpassed 50% last month, according to turnstile operator Kastle Systems.

The question is: Why are we paying for this? If the federal government can't get its post-COVID pandemic-era employees to come back to the office, then it's time for layoffs. If the government can function as it does on 20% of its people, then maybe it's time to lay the other 80% off.

The Journal notes that Congress does have a law for getting rid of empty government office space and recovering the expense for taxpayers:

The Federal Property Management Reform Act of 2016 mandates that the executive branch create and carry out annual plans to reduce its unused space. The law was passed by a GOP Congress and signed by President Obama, but it has spurred little action. The GAO report says the law has “improved the focus on real property management,” yet concedes that “federal agencies continue to have unneeded space.”

House Republicans seeking a small victory could demand that the Office of Management and Budget enforce the law and help federal agencies shed some of their extra space. The merits of working from home may be up for debate, but there’s no need to fund empty offices from the public purse.

Which should be a good project for the House and Senate.

Already, we know that at least some of them are trying to get something done.

Recall, for instance, that back in March, Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana grilled Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra on why the parking lots were so empty at 10:30 a.m. on a weekday at many of his agency's offices, which I wrote about here:

“How many are at their desk as opposed to being at home, or someplace else, the coffee shop or whatever?” Cassidy asked Becerra, after the cabinet secretary said that the department’s employees were working full time.

“What we make sure we care about is that they’re performing and they’re delivering,” Becerra said.

There was a whiff of what the problem here was in that answer, as Becerra kept gaslighting her about all his employees performing their jobs well.

Obviously, these characters view the big buildings with their agencies' names on them as proxies for their own power and importance. That will make getting rid of these costly hulks and husks all that much harder.

But they do need to get rid of them if for nothing else to save the taxpayers money. The federal government is already overspending us into inflation, and that activity has consequences. Cutting the fat in government, and shedding the excess buildings is probably the only way to restore our economy to health. This situation is not a sign of national vigor, or growth, or anything positive -- and you can bet that nations such as China and Russia are taking note.

Congress should tell these agencies they can finance themselves through selling their excess buildings that their employees won't work in, and getting rid of those who aren't showing up to work, because they aren't going to hand them another dime until they do.

Biden Reduces Illegal Migration by Allowing in 500,000 Migrant Invaders

The CBP One app currently allows up to 529,250 migrants

I have a plan to win the drug war, let’s legalize drugs. Also, let’s end murder by legalizing murder. The mass migrant invasion at the border? That’s easy. Just legalize the invaders. That’s Biden’s plan.

And the media reports this with a straight face.

The Biden administration has welcomed over half a million migrants under programs designed to reduce illegal border entries or offer a safe haven to refugees, using a 1950s law to launch the largest expansion of legal immigration in modern U.S. history

Exciting! Finally, we can reduce illegal border entries by allowing the invaders in legally.

In less than two years, the administration has allowed at least 541,000 migrants to enter the U.S. through the immigration parole authority, which gives federal officials the power to authorize the entry of foreigners who lack visas, according to internal government statistics, court records and public reports.

The unprecedented use of the parole authority has allowed officials to divert migration away from the southern border by offering would-be migrants a legal and safe alternative to journeying to the U.S. with the help of smugglers and entering the country unlawfully

Instead of trying to stop them from invading America illegally, Biden has authorized them to invade America legally. We don’t want invaders going to the trouble of unsafely and illegally invading us when Biden can just authorize them to invade us legally and safely.

Taken together, the immigration parole programs created by the Biden administration amount to the most significant expansion of legal immigration in three decades. And to the dismay of Republican critics, the administration has done so unilaterally, without explicit consent from Congress, which has not expanded legal immigration levels since 1990 amid decades of partisan gridlock.

Congress, laws, who cares about these things? Presidents should have the authority to do any leftist thing they want, but no authority to do any conservative thing. That’s pretty simple, isn’t it?

The number of migrants paroled into the U.S. is expected to increase even further. The program powered by the CBP One app currently allows up to 529,250 migrants to be processed each year

Good news. Illegal crossings are down… because they’re now legal.

Officials, for example, have credited the CBP One app and program for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans — as well as stricter asylum rules — for a dramatic drop in illegal crossings along the southern border in recent weeks.

Also if you create a big hole in the walls of banks, fewer people will break into the front of the bank.

The senior DHS officials said they expect migrants to leave the U.S. once their parole expires if they have not gained permanent status by applying for programs like asylum or visas for relatives of Americans.

“If they, at the end of the two years, have not found a lawful pathway in the U.S., our expectation is that we will be seeking to remove those individuals,” one official said.

Like all the millions of illegal aliens already in the United States. Is there a human being on earth dumb enough to believe this lie?

The Biden administration continues to illegally seize and wield unlimited authority to implement radical leftist goals. All of those goals, like the border invasion, add up to the destruction of America.

Biden’s DOJ Awarded $300 Million in Taxpayer Money to Sanctuary Cities

President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ) gave hundreds of millions in American taxpayer money to sanctuary cities, those jurisdictions protecting illegal aliens from arrest and deportation, in 2021, new data reveals.

Federal data compiled by the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) shows that in 2021, Biden’s first year in office, the DOJ awarded about $300 million to 11 sanctuary states and 86 sanctuary counties and cities that refuse to turn criminal illegal aliens over to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency for arrest and deportation.

The taxpayer money was funneled to the sanctuary jurisdictions through three DOJ grant programs: the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP), the Byrne Justice Assistance Grants (JAG), and the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) program.

CIS researchers Jessica Vaughan and Nathan Desautels wrote:

The awards to sanctuaries represented more than 40 percent of the available funding under these programs. Sanctuary jurisdictions are receiving this funding despite having adopted policies to hinder cooperation between local law enforcement agencies and federal immigration authorities. As a result, the federal government is subsidizing agencies that may be violating federal law and undermining public safety. [Emphasis added]

The majority of SCAAP and Byrne JAG program funding went to sanctuary jurisdictions in 2021; 58 percent of the SCAAP funding and 68 percent of the Byrne JAG funding went to sanctuaries, while 28 percent of the COPS funding went to sanctuaries. [Emphasis added]

In particular, Chicago, Illinois; San Francisco, California; Washington, DC; San Bernardino County, California; and Nassau County, New York were among the top sanctuary counties and cities in the nation to secure tens of millions in DOJ funding in 2021.

Meanwhile, sanctuary states were the biggest sanctuary beneficiaries of DOJ grants.
