LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST GARY, IND SANCTUARY CITY POLICY - PUSH MEXICO OUT OF OUR OPEN BORDERS!

Immigration Group Files Lawsuit Against Gary, Ind.'s Sanctuary City Policy

(CNSNews.com) -- The Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI) and the Bopp Law Firm announced today that they have filed a lawsuit against the City of Gary, Ind., its mayor, and its Common Council members, charging that Gary's sanctuary city ordinance, which shelters illegal aliens, violates a state law that mandates cooperation with federal immigration laws.
The city operates under ordinance 1900, adopted in May 2017, which defines Gary as a "welcoming city," which means local law enforcement is forbidden from cooperating with federal immigration officials when it comes to illegal aliens.
However, Indiana state law, Chapter 18.2, bans "what are commonly called sanctuary-city or welcoming-city ordinances," according to the lawsuit, which was filed Tuesday in Indiana's Lake County Circuit Court. The suit seeks to compel city officials to comply with Chapter 18.2.

(Screenshot, YouTube)
“By enacting ordinance 9100, the leaders of Gary have flagrantly violated Indiana’s law prohibiting sanctuary cities,” said Dale L. Wilcox, executive director and general counsel of IRLI.
“In addition to defying state law, they are also endangering the safety of their constituents," said Wilcox. "As we saw in the Kate Steinle case, sanctuary city policies can result in tragic consequences. To allow this ordinance to stand would set a dangerous precedent in Indiana.”
"According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement estimates, roughly 2.1 million criminal aliens are living in the U.S., over 1.9 million of which are removable," said the IRLI in a statement.
"These criminal aliens continue to live in communities and engage in further criminal activity when state and local law enforcement are prohibited from cooperating with federal immigration officials," said the IRLI.
"[T]he reality is that sanctuary cities present an existential threat to residents of those communities and all Americans," said Brian Lonergan, the IRLI director of communications, in a commentary in The Hill. "A permissive attitude toward illegal immigrants will only promote more illegal immigration, and all the undesirable consequences for education, social services, employment and national security that come with it."
The Washington Times reported in March that there are nearly 500 jurisdictions in the United States that are "sanctuary cities."

Liberal Lingo: 'Sanctuary Cities'

A sanctuary is a place where people can go to be safe. Generally speaking we think of good people going to sanctuaries to escape evil; some Jews found sanctuary from the Holocaust in England and the United States, for example.
Liberals like to repurpose words with positive connotations, like sanctuary, in order to add a false impression of sanity to liberal positions which are otherwise indefensible.

In the case of the now ubiquitous “Sanctuary Cities” phrase, liberals hope to evoke Americans desire for fairness and our propensity to stick up for the little guy.
After all, even if you’re some coldhearted racist conservative, liberals reason, your heartstrings will be plucked by the idea of cruel ICE agents swooping in on a hard working “undocumented” family who pay their taxes, never take government aid, and work hard at jobs where they are underpaid because “gringo” bosses threaten to call ICE on them; jobs which no citizen would do.
Ignoring for a moment the prevalence, or lack thereof, of such illegals, and also ignoring the blacks who can’t find a job because “honest” illegals will work for less, the reality is that “Sanctuary Cities” have nothing to do with “honest” illegals.
The only people who get sanctuary in “Sanctuary Cities” are criminals. Cities and states can’t stop ICE from enforcing the law; laws supported by generations of Democrat politicians, by the way. They can’t provide safe haven for “honest” illegals; not that they need to since “honest” illegals are not that frequently targeted even by the “racist” Trump administration.
But what local governments can do is shield illegals who commit additional crimes in the US from being deported. “Sanctuary Cities” do so by preventing the police from notifying ICE when an illegal has been arrested for a crime. Historically the police would notify ICE, ICE would go to the police station and conduct a safe -- for the illegal and the community -- transfer to ICE so that the criminal could be deported.
In “Sanctuary Cities” illegals who drive drunk, for example, are simply allowed back into society without ICE having a chance to deport them.
That’s right; “Sanctuary Cities” exist to ensure that illegals who drive drunk or commit a wide range of other crimes don’t risk deportation. While the specific laws that illegals can break and be protected from deportation vary between different “Sanctuary Cities” they are not restricted to jaywalking, having a taillight out on their car, and littering. In fact, only if the offense is serious enough that the illegal is put in jail, at least temporarily, does the “Sanctuary City” policy have any role; if the illegal doesn’t go to jail the jail can’t notify ICE when he’s going to be released so that ICE can pick him up.
The net effect of “Sanctuary Cities” is to ensure that illegals who continue to commit other crimes are shielded from deportation; that’s right liberal politicians are working hard to increase the criminal population in “Sanctuary Cities.”
Haven’t you ever wished we could just throw drunk drivers out of your city so that they can’t kill people you may know the next time they slip up? Well, we can’t do that for citizens, including legal immigrants, but we can for those who sneak into our country. Yet the whole purpose of “Sanctuary Cities” is to ensure that criminals are allowed to stay in the country enabling them to commit more crimes.
Why would any sane person support such a thing?
Maybe it’s because liberals know that criminals are both likely to not be concerned about illegally voting and likely to vote for liberal candidates who work to make life easy for criminals -- so long as they don’t prey on the rich people the politicians schmooze with.
Or maybe it’s the liberals all or nothing approach to issues; either we let all illegals stay or we’re going to force all of them out. After all liberals staunchly defend the right of a woman to abort her viable, pain feeling, unborn daughter because she, or her spouse, wants a boy so extremism in the protection of violence is nothing new to liberals.
Or maybe it’s because illegals provide cheap labor for rich white liberals, and even criminal illegals rarely prey directly on the ruling elites whose safety and prosperity is the main concern of modern liberals.
In any case, “Sanctuary Cities” do nothing to help illegals whose only crime was breaking into our country. In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising if “Sanctuary Cites” were causing more suffering for the “honest” illegals.
The man who killed Kate Steinle, for example, doesn’t speak English. Given that it’s not absurd to think that illegals like him, with criminal records and minimal English skills, would tend to prey on “honest” illegals more than on American citizens. If that is the case, then by protecting illegals who continue to commit crimes “Sanctuary Cities” are hurting the “honest” illegals they claim to be trying to help, not to mention the legal Hispanic immigrants.
But words have power, so whenever and wherever you see, hear, or read the phrase “Sanctuary City” make sure you explain to anyone you can, in a polite way, that the real term should be “Sanctuary for Criminals Cities.”
It wouldn’t be shocking if most of the people who support “Sanctuary Cities” think that those cities protect “honest” illegals given the way the media covers the issue. Hence by shining a light into the swamp you might be able to get people who would normally vote for a liberal to realize that there’s a huge difference between mass deportation and deporting illegals who drive drunk.

In South Korea, the campaign includes working to raise awareness among Koreans about the plight of meat dogs being no different from the animals more and more of them are keeping as pets
He said: 'I'm proud to support HSI's campaign to end the dog meat trade in South Korea because it's a really tough job their rescue team does, and it's not just about saving the dogs, they're offering practical solutions to help dog farmers get out of this horrendous business, and also urging politicians to change the law, so it's the whole package.'
Nara Kim, HSI's South Korea dog meat campaigner, said: 'Eating dog is a dying practice in Korea, especially among young people.
'However, the Bok Nal days of summer still lead many to eat dog meat soup in the mistaken belief that it will invigorate the blood in the sluggish heat.
'Our campaign shows them the disgusting conditions in which the dogs are forced in live in their own faeces, and their pitiful suffering, and it is changing hearts and minds.
'Some people say that dog eating is Korean culture, but you won't find many young people who feel it's a cultural habit we want to hold on to.'

Bok Nal: When dogs are killed and eaten to 'improve stamina'

The Bok Nal days are not a festival or single event, but the three hottest days of summer according to the lunar calendar, falling on July 12 (Cho Bok), July 22 (Jung Bok) and August 11 (Mal Bok).
During the Bok Nal days, 70 to 80 per cent of dog meat is eaten in South Korea, mainly as a peppery soup called bosintang that is believed to improve stamina and virility.
Most people in South Korea never visit a dog meat farm and are unaware of the suffering experienced by the dogs. HSI is keen to dispel the widespread misconception that farmed dogs are somehow different in nature to companion dogs.
In addition to their life of suffering on the farm, the method used to kill the dogs is brutal - death by electrocution is most common, with dogs usually taking up to five minutes to die, although there have been instances of dogs taking up to 20 minutes to die.
Hanging is also common. Dogs are killed in full view of the other dogs, and their final moments will be terrifying and extremely painful.
The dog meat industry is in legal limbo in South Korea, neither legal nor illegal. Many provisions of the Animal Protection Act are routinely breached, such as the ban on killing animals in a brutal way including hanging by the neck, killing in public areas or in front of other animals of the same species.
In China, Vietnam, Nagaland in India and other places across Asia, an estimated 30million dogs are brutally killed and eaten each year. However, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Singapore have dog meat bans in place.

And Simon Cowell came close to breaking down on Tuesday's Good Morning Britain, when he discussed the devastating dog meat farming trade in South Korea.
The Syco owner, 58, has teamed up with the ITV show as well as the Humane Society International (HSI) to raise awareness about the brutal conditions and killings of the 'kind, helpless and sweet' dogs involved.

'From the moment he stepped foot on the dog farm he’s been part of the team, mucking in with filling the cages with warm straw against the bitter cold, comforting dogs traumatised and frightened, and helping to load the dog crates on the transport as day by day the dogs leave the farm behind them.'

ONE LAST SMILE FOR MY OLD FRIEND:

Beautiful moment dying chimp who had been refusing to eat recognizes the man who cared for her in 1972 and is overjoyed to see him.

“Mama” was 59 years old.

Mama, the 59-year-old former matriarch at Royal Burgers Zoo in the Netherlands, was curled up in a ball and refusing food until the arrival of Professor Jan van Hooff, who she first met in 1972.
