Is the coronavirus less fatal than early predictions suggested?

The coronavirus is an icky disease that takes a cruel toll on the elderly, the sick, and the unlucky.  In this modern era, we can outwit many things that once routinely killed people, but the Grim Reaper is still out there, and he'll eventually get all of us.  Scary headlines have hinted that the coronavirus is now the Grim Reaper's preferred method.
Media reports have told us that the coronavirus is significantly more deadly than the flu, which annually kills 30,000 to 60,000 Americans.  Based on the speed with which it killed in China, Italy, Iran, and Spain, it looked as if the American death toll could easily top two million people annually.  While that's small potatoes compared to past pandemics (e.g., the Plague of Justinian, the Black Death, Spanish Influenza), it's a staggering toll in modern America.  Any actions seemed worthwhile to keep America from turning into a viral slaughterhouse.
But that might not be what's happening.
At the Wall Street Journal (behind a paywall), Eran Bendavid and Jay Bhattacharya, two medical professors at Stanford, propose that we're using the wrong math and that we are still missing the numbers we need to do the math correctly.  However, by extrapolating from available data, one can argue that the coronavirus's mortality rate is significantly lower than the early estimates.
According to the doctors, "The true fatality rate is the portion of those infected who die, not the deaths from identified positive cases."  When calculating the mortality rate, while we know the numerator (the number who have died); we're using the wrong denominator.  If the denominator is only those sick enough to get the test in the first place, that small number will return a much higher mortality rate.
The real denominator should be the total number of people who catch this contagious virus.  Ideally, we'd already be testing everyone with an antibody test, which would allow us to know how many have already caught this new virus and recovered without incident.  However, while antibody tests are in the pipeline, they're not there yet.
Thankfully, there is information that helps us estimate the contagion factor.  In Italy, the scariest country of them all, the math says that while Italy is being slammed by the speed of the coronavirus's spread, the ultimate mortality rate won't be as devastating as the early numbers predict:
Next, the northeastern Italian town of Vò, near the provincial capital of Padua. On March 6, all 3,300 people of Vò were tested, and 90 were positive, a prevalence of 2.7%. Applying that prevalence to the whole province (population 955,000), which had 198 reported cases, suggests there were actually 26,000 infections at that time. That's more than 130-fold the number of actual reported cases. Since Italy's case fatality rate of 8% is estimated using the confirmed cases, the real fatality rate could in fact be closer to 0.06%.
The doctors do the same calculation for other defined populations, such as planes that evacuated U.S. citizens from Wuhan (all the passengers were tested), Iceland's population, and NBA players.  In the case of the Wuhan evacuees, only 0.9% of the Wuhan travelers tested positive.  Extrapolating that data out to Wuhan as a whole would mean that 178,000 Wuhan residents were probably infected, a number 30 times greater than the number China identified as having the virus.  Accepting as true China's claim that only 3,287 people died, the real mortality rate would be 1.85% — which is still a high mortality rate, but less than the original 4% claimed.
Considering that in December and January, there was substantial and steady traffic between Wuhan and the U.S., the doctors believe that the coronavirus's high infection rate means that some six million Americans may have been infected by March 9.  As of March 23, though, only 499 Americans had died from the coronavirus.
The professors point out that this is a mortality rate of only 0.01%, which is one tenth of the annual flu mortality rate of 0.1%.  If more people are infected than with the flu, but only 1/10 the number of people die...well, it's not Armageddon.  (For more "not Armageddon" info, check out John Hinderaker's post about virus fatalities.)
Drs. Bendavid and Bhattacharya suggest that the most sensible plan is to focus on vulnerable populations: the elderly and the sick, whether in hospitals, nursing homes, or their own homes.  This means isolating them and, because of the virus's rapid spread, temporarily reallocating hospital resources, such as elective procedures.
The doctors close by warning that a universal quarantine, with its massive impact on the economy and, as a byproduct, on Americans' physical and mental well-being, may well be overkill and must, therefore, be reevaluated.
It's a great article with more information than I've given here.  If you have access to The Wall Street Journal, try to read what the good doctors have to say.

Curbing China's Dominance of Medical Supplies

Rosemary Gibson is senior advisor at the Hastings Center and a national authority on health care reform. In 2014, she won the highest honor from the American Medical Writers Association. She is an editor for JAMA Internal Medicine. She has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
Speaking to journalist Sharyl Attkisson in an April 23, 2018, interview,  Gibson warned: "What happens if we have a Fukushima type event or the trade routes are blocked in the South China Sea? Or if there's a global pandemic? And the United States and virtually every other country in the world is dependent on a few companies in China for the ingredients to make critical antibiotics."
Gibson provided a detailed picture of China’s growing domination of the medical drug and equipment market in her 2018 book China Rx: Exposing the Risks of America’s Dependence on China for Medicine (co-authored by Janardan Prasad Singh).
China is now the global kingpin in the supply of key ingredients for many prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and supplements. The Chinese now control most of the active and inactive ingredients for the manufacture of medicine in the world.
Suppose your blood pressure medication is factory-made in Canada and you feel your supply line is safe. Your health is still in jeopardy because Communist China could choose to ban the export of your drug’s active ingredient to Canada.
In China Rx, Gibson and Singh lay out the facts in how drug manufacturing has experienced a paradigm shift over several decades. Communist China has followed an aggressive plan in becoming the global supplier of necessary ingredients for medicines.
Penicillin, a longstanding drug in the fight against bacterial infection, is a prime example of America’s market loss and China’s economic seizure and takeover.
Around 2004, the Chinese government had its national companies dump penicillin ingredients on the global market. Most Western countries, including the U.S., could not compete with their low prices and went bankrupt. Then China issued a major price increase on these important ingredients, thereby cornering the market and making billions.
Although the penicillin that you purchase at your local drugstore may not be manufactured in China in its final form, the keys to its production (active ingredients) are under communist control.
Forget about a vital drug like heparin, the only anticoagulant used in the U.S. for heart surgery and kidney dialysis. What about something simple, like Vitamin C?
China is now the primary supplier for the key ingredients for manufacturing this vitamin in the U.S. and around the world. Chinese companies created an artificial shortage of vitamin C around 2005 by slowing production and exports. American companies filed a class-action suit resulting in a legal battle lasting over eight years. The evidence was strong and convincing against China. The judge ordered China to pay over $160 million in damages to U.S. corporations.
The Seattle Times in June 2007 reported, “In less than a decade, China has captured 90 percent of the U.S. market for vitamin C, driving almost everyone else out of business… Chinese pharmaceutical companies also have taken over much of the world market in the production of antibiotics, analgesics, enzymes and primary amino acids. According to an industry group, China makes 70 percent of the world’s penicillin, 50 percent of its aspirin and 35 percent of its acetaminophen (often sold under the brand name Tylenol), as well as the bulk of vitamins A, B12, C and E.”
In China Rx, Gibson also reveals that China is the main supplier of the active ingredients for acetaminophen and aspirin now used in over 600 prescription and over-the-counter drugs.
How were these warning signs missed for these less-complex drugs, not to mention the more expensive heart and cancer medications?
Who is listening to Rosemary Gibson on Capitol Hill?
Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), while chairing a hearing of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship on March 12,  sounded the alarm concerning critical shortages in our drug supply chain, the offshoring of American drug manufacturing for two decades, and now the threat of a global pandemic.
He warned, “The inability to quickly increase the production of key supplies, such as surgical masks, medical gowns, and pharmaceutical drugs limits our ability to mitigate the worst effects of disease in this emerging crisis and in any future pandemic. It is unacceptable that China holds this much leverage over America’s public health and economy, which are both essential components of our national security.”
Thank you, Senator!

Wake Up America -- China is the Pandemic

The Democrats stalled the $2 trillion stimulus for three days, in an attempt at stuffing the initiative with all the leftist policies they knew they could never foist upon the electorate through legislation or the ballot box.
China infected the world to save its reputation and provide for itself enhanced income-producing opportunities -- and is now not only lying about it but also using the death and chaos they caused as a weapon in its quest to rule the world.
The media is backing both plays.  Twisted millenarianism is one thing they all have in common.
Parties, countries, and media have priorities and if you die, you die.
You see, to the iniquitous Chinese, the Democrats, and the media, your life, or anyone’s life… or millions of lives, is a mere quibble when ruling the world is the potential prize.
China, “the true sick man of Asia,” seeks to export their diseased system, their fetid ideology, “Mandate of Heaven” strongman rule, and their home-grown pandemic upon free nations the world over.  They want a world paying tribute to them and eternally grateful for the “Chinese characteristics” our societies will be required to assume.
On January 18, authorities allowed a communal feast in Wuhan attended by 40,000 families celebrating the Lunar New Year.  By the last week of January, seven million people had left Wuhan (population, 11 million) for parts unknown.  Now, we know where they went; Google “pandemic deaths.”  All this before anyone in the West had even an inkling of the Chinese Virus.  The world didn’t know because China withheld the information.
The communist leadership of China, though, knew what they had on their hands.  Armed “volunteers” were welding shut the doors of infected people’s homes to enforce their “day late and a yuan short” quarantine while they told the rest of the world there was still nothing to fear.
Communist leaders, to save themselves and China, washed their hands of it and dumped it on the rest of humanity.  China, the Harry Lime of nations, was willing to sacrifice western lives for money and their plans of global domination.
China fully intends to profit from a worldwide disaster of their making by selling a lie based on their innocence and benevolence -- taking over more of the world’s supply chain in the process.  They’ve told us so.
And, most surprising, the Democrats and American media have been complicit with China in their plan to rule the world.  Talk about selling someone the rope for his own hanging.
Having successfully built an economy on technology theft, product dumping, unfair trade practices, currency manipulation, lying, and various other legerdemain, China undoubtedly is feeling its oats (along with eating its pangolins, bats, and monkeys).  Aware of the coming worldwide pandemic, because they caused it, the first order of action was to buy up the globe’s supply of surgical masks and pandemic medical supplies.
They needed to act fast, before anyone else became aware of their perfidy and malintent.  That’s good business if you’re Scrooge, Mr. Potter, Stalin, Hitler, or Mao -- he’s the guy whose face was on an ornament hanging from President Obama’s Christmas tree, way back when.  Maybe someday Xi can hang too.
The die cast, they threatened to withhold America’s medications, throwing America “into the mighty sea of the Coronavirus.”  Then they blamed our country for their virus and demanded an apology -- while seeding the cloud with false memes of stalwart Chinese bravery and technological superiority coming to the aid of a humanity beleaguered by a plague they accused American GIs of deliberately causing.
It’s easy to sell lies when you have the Democratic Party and the media of the freest nation on earth willing to prostitute themselves for renminbi and power.
Americans are expected to forget China nationalized an American-owned company producing N95 masks as their navy stopped a container ship bound for the free world with the coveted masks, redirecting it back to China where the cargo was immediately seized for resale… when the price was right.  In the future, it shouldn’t surprise anyone were it to become known that China is buying up the world’s supply of chloroquine.
The left controls the media, the academy, and the Democratic Party.  They have always had the power to set the narrative.  That’s why they hate Trump so much; he can seize any discussion and force talkers and listeners to talk and listen to what he wants them to talk about and listen to.
The Chinese Pandemic is the perfect opportunity for them to retake the initiative and make this about Trump’s failures -- if only people would just die faster.  Americans, those selfish bastards, it’s always all about them, if they would just die quickly and in mass quantities, all this could be over, and Trump would be out.
Well, at least they were able to destroy the economy and are doing their levelheaded best to create Chinese primacy.
Wake up, America -- China is our enemy, and now that the media has dispensed with merely being biased and are actively working to aid and abet Chairman Xi in his battle to make America a vassal state paying tribute to the country the elite believe should be running the world, Americans need to understand the war we are in.
We are told, there are no new cases of "Wu-Flu" in China.
How do you get to Carnegie Hall?  Take 7th Avenue.
How do you get zero new cases of the Chinese Virus?  Stop testing.
Breaking: “Xi, through diligent work and world-class leadership, along with prescient planning & superior Chinese technology, has begun a program to bring back from the dead early Chinese victims of the American pandemic.” CNN 04/01/2020
The Chinese, just like the Democrats, and the media, understand to never let a pandemic go to waste.  And the Democrats and the media are just fine with that.
Imagine what they’ll do when they have all the power.

Senators Urge Trump to Create Task Force to Counter Beijing’s CCP Virus Propaganda

Three Republican senators are calling for the creation of a new task force to counter Beijing’s escalating disinformation campaign against the United States surrounding the CCP virus.
Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Cory Gardner (R-Colo.), and Mitt Romney (R-Utah), in a March 23 letter to President Donald Trump, propose the establishment of an interagency task force, under the command of the White House National Security Council (NSC), to counter propaganda spread by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) amid the worldwide pandemic.
The Epoch Times refers to the novel coronavirus, which causes the disease COVID-19, as the CCP virus because the CCP’s coverup and mismanagement allowed the virus to spread throughout China and create a global pandemic.
“Now that COVID-19 has spread rapidly around the globe, the CCP and its officials have the audacity to spread disingenuous claims that the United States is responsible for this pandemic. This is not simply dishonest, it is dangerous,” the senators wrote.
They added: “The Chinese Communist Party is manipulating facts surrounding a global pandemic that originated due to their own incompetence. While the rest of the world scrambles to clean up the CCP’s mess, they continue to seek geopolitical advantage and undermine the U.S. at every turn.”
The senators said that the taskforce should produce a white paper on the origins of the outbreak and subsequent CCP efforts to conceal its severity.
It should also provide guidance to U.S. government employees and U.S. embassies on how to counter false CCP narratives.
The escalating global outbreak started in Wuhan, the capital of central China’s Hubei Province, in December 2019.
Since early March, the Chinese regime has been aggressively pushing a global propaganda campaign to deflect attention from its initial mishandling of the outbreak.
Chinese officials have suggested that the virus did not originate from China, and have even accused the United States of being responsible for the outbreak that has now spread to over 180 countries and regions and killed more than 10,000 people outside of China.
On March 13, the U.S. State Department summoned China’s ambassador to the United States Cui Tiankai, after Zhao Lijian, a spokesperson of China’s foreign ministry, accused the U.S. Army of bringing the CCP virus into Wuhan.
China’s state-run media CCTV and Xinhua have added their voices to the disinformation campaign. For instance, a commentator on state-run media CCTV recently claimed that the United States was quick to start working on a vaccine for the virus because it possessed the CCP virus long before the outbreak began.
State media has also recently targeted Trump, promoting hashtags such as “#Trump Pandemic” on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.
The three senators wrote that China’s propaganda “threatens to undermine the worldwide coordination necessary to combat this coronavirus,” in addition to “being a despicable exploitation of a global emergency.”
The taskforce would include representatives from multiple U.S. departments, including the State Department, the Pentagon, and the Treasury Department, as well as agencies within the intelligence community.
“It is critical that our country fight back against this propaganda and an interagency taskforce under the aegis of the NSC is a distinctive tool to formulate a coordinated, USG-wide response,” the senators wrote.
The senators suggested that Trump could allocate funding for the taskforce under the Asia Reassurance Initiative Act (ARIA).
ARIA, which became law in December 2018, calls for increased U.S. engagement in the Indo-Pacific while countering China’s strategic influence in the region.

The curious political path of the Chinese virus

In our hyper-politicized world where Democrats and the media frame all events, past and future, against a political backdrop and an upcoming presidential election, why shouldn’t the all-consuming news event of this year, the Chinese virus, be viewed through a similar political lens?
coincidence is, “A remarkable concurrence of events or circumstances without apparent causal connection.” The viral pandemic, along with the public and governmental reactions are indeed remarkable. In the Trump presidency, there have been a number of events that one might tie into the current viral outbreak.
It’s easy to brush off such coincidences as having no “apparent casual connection,” yet upon closer scrutiny, they may be closely connected. As the mysterious and enigmatic Q would say, “Do you believe in coincidences?”
The Q group, a small military intelligence team working in the shadows with and for the president, frequently points out such coincidences from their team’s birdseye view. And did so recently. Let’s start with the virus itself.
For those who have observed the incessant effort by the deep state and the left to destroy the Trump presidency, the events of the past few months fall into a well-established pattern.
SARS coronavirus was first identified in 2003 after infecting humans in southern China in 2002. A microbiology review paper published in 2007 concluded, “Coronaviruses are well known to undergo genetic recombination, which may lead to new genotypes and outbreaks” With the Chinese cultural practice of wet markets, mixing the viral laden secretions of multiple exotic wild animals, “The reemergence of SARS and other novel viruses from animals or laboratories” was a “time bomb” and “the need for preparedness should not be ignored.”
The time bomb warning fell on deaf ears. Or was someone actually listening and preparing? A time bomb sits idly until activated. Once the fuse is lit, the bomb will explode at a predetermined time in the future.
An interesting coincidence is that this virus started in Wuhan, China which just so happens to be the home of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, China’s only level 4 biosafety lab.
Suggesting that the virus originated in the lab is called a conspiracy theory, debunked by a “consensus of scientists.” As a reminder, other consenses of scientists tell us President Trump is mentally ill, that man-made global warming is destroying the planet, and that Saddam Hussein had WMDs.
The virus could have developed naturally within the wet markets, according to experts who are adamant that: “Humans could have never dreamed this up.” Could those same wet market conditions be replicated in a laboratory, producing similar results? Given Chinese secrecy we may never know for sure.
Beyond the science is the politics. The timing of events is curious when looking at the Trump presidency and upcoming election. The Chinese coronavirus was first noted in in China in December 2019. What was happening politically at that time in the U.S.?

“All in all, it was an incredible victory for the Chinese government. Feinstein has done more for Red China than other any serving U.S. politician. “ Trevor Loudon

China Uses Coronavirus

Crisis to Bulldoze Churches

and Temples

Religious freedom watchdog groups are accusing the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) of using the Wuhan coronavirus epidemic as an opportunity to intensify their crackdown on religion, bulldozing some churches and placing others under heavy surveillance.
China is now holding itself up as a model for fighting the coronavirus. But fighting the pandemic hasn’t stopped communist officials from persecuting Christians,” Todd Nettleton, a spokesman for the nonprofit group Voice of the Martyrs (VOM), told Fox News on Tuesday.
Another prominent activist, Bob Fu of China Aid, shared a video of Chinese officials demolishing a church in the city of Yixing:

Religious persecution continues even in the midst of March 11 Xiangbaishu Church in Yixing city, Jiangsu province was destroyed by govt. Cross is our Glory大疫当前,江苏宜兴香柏树教会,于3.11日遭到强拆.举国上下深感人民的苦难,但谁知道在十字架上那位上帝之子的苦难?

Other churches have reportedly been vandalized by Chinese officials and orders have been given that effectively ban “unregistered” religious services on the grounds of public health. On the bright side, VOM saw the prevalence of medical masks due to the coronavirus as an opportunity to evade China’s pervasive facial-recognition systems and proselytize with less fear of being identified and persecuted.
Buddhists and Taoists also reported the suppression and demolition of their temples, a process that appeared to be intensifying just as the coronavirus exploded out of Wuhan. Worshipers bitterly noted that local officials have a habit of abruptly deciding that temples built with their approval failed to meet some obscure building code and must be demolished immediately. Not even hoisting Communist flags and papering temples with posters of China’s authoritarian ruler Xi Jinping was enough to save the targeted temples.
“Unconditional cooperation with the government means that no photos of the demolition can be taken, no negotiations initiated, and no compensation demanded. This is typical behavior of the CCP government,” one Buddhist complained to the Bitter Winter human rights website.
“The Communist Party is as evil as a mafia. Under the tyranny of those modern bandits, even sacred Buddhist temples cannot enjoy peace,” said another.
Churches that do not get knocked flat are encrusted with surveillance cameras to terrorize the congregations, and perhaps build up “evidence” of incorrect speech that can be used as an excuse to wipe out the church, as detailed in another Bitter Winter post:
According to a Three-Self preacher from Lankao county in Henan’s Kaifeng city, powerful cameras, over 10,000 RMB (about $ 1,400) each, have been installed in at least eight Three-Self churches, images from which are displayed on a large screen in the hall of the county’s Two Chinese Christian Councils. Who leads Sunday services, what sermons are about, and how many congregation members are present—everything is under the government’s close surveillance.
“The surveillance equipment is powerful; it can catch every single word in the church,” a Three-Self church director in Lankao county explained. “We can get into trouble for making an incautious remark. Believers don’t dare to even chitchat with each other under such surveillance.” He once received a phone call from a local official less than one hour after he complained about the government.
In August 2019, over 100 cameras were installed in several Three-Self churches in Yi’nan county in Linyi, a prefecture-level city in the eastern province of Shandong. A local government insider revealed to Bitter Winter that the Religious Affairs Bureau and United Front Work Department use the cameras to monitor activities in churches, and those refusing to have cameras installed would be shut down.
As some preachers and church directors learned to their cost, unplugging the security cameras is treated as a crime and swiftly punished by arrest, interrogation, confiscation of church property, and possibly destruction of the church, or even the personal residence of the preacher. According to several sources in China, the CCP now grades churches on a 100-point scale of obedience, deducts points for offenses such as improperly-displayed Communist flags and slogans, and shuts houses of worship down if their score falls under 60.

Reps. Jim Banks, Seth Moulton Introduce Bipartisan Bill Condemning China

BEIJING, CHINA - MARCH 20: Chinese commuters wear protective masks as they line up in a staggered formation while waiting for a bus at the end of the work day on March 20, 2020 in Beijing, China. With the pandemic hitting hard across the world, China recorded its first day …

Reps. Jim Banks (R-IN) and Seth Moulton (D-MA) introduced a bill condemning the Chinese government for its handling of the coronavirus outbreak, in a sign of bipartisan anger against China.
The bill expresses the sense of the House of Representatives that the “Governmentof the People’s Republic of China made multiple, serious mistakes in the early stages of the COVID–19 outbreak that heightened the severity and spread of the ongoing COVID–19 pandemic.”
The text said those mistakes:
…include the Chinese Government’s intentional spread of misinformation to downplay the risks of the virus, a refusal to cooperate with international health authorities, internal censorship of doctors and journalists, and malicious disregard for the health of ethnic minorities.
Banks, a U.S. Navy reservist, said in a statement:
As the Chinese Communist Party pushes propaganda and lies to try and blame the United States for coronavirus, we need to make the case to the world that China is ultimately responsible for this outbreak. They tried to cover-up news of the virus, jailed doctors warning of a possible pandemic, and prevented the CDC from coming to study the disease. In all, they cost the globe two months in time to prepare for this virus. I hope this begins a conversation about how China can be held accountable for their negligent coronavirus response.
Moulton, a Marine veteran, said in a statement:
The Chinese Communist Party’s leaders responded to the coronavirus outbreak first with disinformation and misdirection. China’s leaders kicked out American journalists who were covering the virus’ spread and the lives it claimed. China’s leaders silenced doctors, some of whom died sounding the alarm to the world. And while the clock was ticking, China’s leaders were focused on spreading propaganda that said the American military caused the virus, downplaying its severity.
He continued, criticizing Trump, but said, “The American people should hold our leaders accountable, and their representatives should hold China accountable for its part in this pandemic.”

IN THE November 2006 election, the voters demanded congressional ethics reform. And so, the newly appointed chairman of the Senate Rules Committee, Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., is now duly in charge of regulating the ethical behavior of her colleagues. But for many years, Feinstein has been beset by her own ethical conflict of interest, say congressional ethics experts.

Senator Who Employed Chinese Spy Endorses Joe Biden for President…don’t you wonder why???

A high-profile U.S. senator (DIANNE FEINSTEIN) with professional and personal ties to China — including once employing one of its spies — is backing former Vice President Joe Biden amid mounting questions over his son’s business dealings with the communist regime.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), a former chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, announced her endorsement of the former vice president on Tuesday, claiming to have witnessed Biden’s “fortitude” and leadership during their overlapping tenures in Congress.
Feinstein said in a statement:
I’ve worked closely with Vice President Biden and I’ve seen firsthand his legislative ability, his statesmanship, and most importantly his moral fortitud. During his time in Congress and in the White House, Joe Biden has been a tireless fighter for hard working American families.
The endorsement comes as Biden’s presidential campaign is besieged by scandal regarding the lucrative business dealings his youngest son, Hunter, had with foreign governments.
Only hours before Feinstein’s endorsement, the Chinese government announced it would not investigate how Hunter Biden ended up at the center of one its top private equity firms. The Chinese foreign ministry made the decision after President Donald Trump publicly called for a probe of Hunter Biden’s dealings with Bohai Harvest RST (BHR). In particular, Trump has noted that the circumstances surrounding BHR’s creation could have posed a conflict of interest for Joe Biden.
As Peter Schweizer, senior contributor at Breitbart News, revealed in his bestselling book Secret Empires: How the American Political Class Hides Corruption and Enriches Family and Friends, Hunter Biden inked the multibillion-dollar deal that created BHR with a subsidiary of the state-owned Bank of China in 2013.
The timing of the lucrative deal has been brought into question as it came only 12 days after Hunter visited China with his father aboard Air Force Two. Officially, the then-vice president was visiting the country amid escalating tensions over islands in the South China Sea and decided to bring his granddaughter and son along. In a March 2018 interview with Breitbart News Tonight, however, Schweizer detailed the political machinations that preceded Hunter Biden’s $1.5 billion venture with China:
In December of 2013, Vice President Joe Biden flies to Asia for a trip, and the centerpiece for that trip is a visit to Beijing, China. To put this into context, in 2013, the Chinese have just exerted air rights over the South Pacific, the South China Sea. They basically have said, ‘If you want to fly in this area, you have to get Chinese approval. We are claiming sovereignty over this territory.’ Highly controversial in Japan, in the Philippines, and in other countries. Joe Biden is supposed to be going there to confront the Chinese. Well, he gets widely criticized on that trip for going soft on China. For basically not challenging them, and Japan and other countries are quite upset about this.
Since its creation, BHR has invested heavily in energy and defense projects across the globe. As of June, Hunter Biden was still involved with BHR, sitting on its board of directors and owning a minority stake of the fund estimated to be worth more than $430,000.
Such dealings at the center of politics and business, while perhaps not illegal, are not exclusive to the Biden family alone. As a few noted at the time of Feinstein’s endorsement, the senator and her husband have their own close ties to the communist country.
During her tenure as mayor of San Francisco in the late-1970s and early-1980s, Feinstein took advantage of the newly normalized diplomatic relations between the U.S. and China by establishing one of the first sister city partnership between San Francisco and Shanghai. Through that partnership, Feinstein led trade delegations to China in which she and her husband, Richard Blum, became acquainted with some of the country’s most prominent political leaders.
As the Federalist noted in August 2018, Feinstein and her husband leveraged those relationships to boost their own wealth. In 1986, Feinstein and Jiang Zemin — the then-mayor of Shanghai, who would later ascend to the presidency of the People’s Republic of China — “designated several corporate entities for fostering commercial relations.” One of those firms was Shanghai Pacific Partners, which employed Blum as a director. Blum reportedly had an interest of upwards of $500,000 in a project backed by Shanghai Pacific Partners.
After Feinstein was elected to the Senate in 1992, Blum continued profiting off their ties to China. A the same time, the freshman lawmaker was pitching herself as a “China hand” to colleagues, even once claiming “that in my last life maybe I was Chinese.” Through her seat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Feinstein led the fight on a number of initiatives seen as being favorable to China, including granting the country permanent most-favored-nation trading status in 2000.
Despite Feinstein and her husband having a close relationship with Jiang, the Chinese government targeted the senator as part of its espionage operations. In the early 2000s, the Chinese Ministry of State Security (MSS) recruited a longtime employee of the senator to gather information about the inner workings of her congressional and district offices. Feinstein only learned of the staffer’s duplicity in 2013, after he’d already been on her payroll for more than 20 years.
“While this person, who was a liaison to the local Chinese community, was fired, charges were never filed against him,” Politico reported in 2018, speculating that because “the staffer was providing political intelligence and not classified information—making prosecution far more difficult.”
Apart from the convoluted history of the senator’s ties to China, the political timing of Feinstein’s endorsement also caught many off guard. The California Democrat, who hosted a fundraiser on Biden’s behalf last week alongside House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) daughter, is only the most recent figure from the Democrat establishment to openly pledge support for the former vice president. Feinstein’s endorsement, however, was not totally expected, especially since her seamate, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), is mounting a bid of her own for the Democrat nomination. In fact, earlier this year, Feinsten flirted with the notion of remaining neutral in the 2020 contest out of respect for Harris.
Compounding the political picture is that most polls show Biden no longer the favorite to win California, having fallen behind Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).
Feinstein, however, did not address any of that when endorsing the former vice president on Tuesday. Instead, the senator offered platitudes about Biden’s work to enhance gun control and how his campaign was a “fight to restore the soul of the nation.”

“Facilitating strategic technology transfer in return for money is an old Clinton game.  The Chinese bought their way to access of considerable space technology when Bill Clinton was president.  Remember Charlie Trie, Loral, and the rest of the crew?”

"Ask Jeff Sessions about the charges.  Money was flowing into the Clinton Foundation from all over the world, disguised, rerouted through a Canadian charity, all to obscure its origins."

Chinese Ambassador Lauds Hillary Clinton’s Attack on President Trump: ‘Justice Always Speak Loudly’

An ambassador from China is lauding Hillary Clinton’s recent attack on President Trump.
“The president is turning to racist rhetoric to distract from his failures to take the coronavirus seriously early on, make tests widely available, and adequately prepare the country for a period of crisis,” Clinton wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.
“Don’t fall for it. Don’t let your friends and family fall for it.”

The president is turning to racist rhetoric to distract from his failures to take the coronavirus seriously early on, make tests widely available, and adequately prepare the country for a period of crisis.

Don't fall for it. Don't let your friends and family fall for it.

That prompted a response from a representative of the communist regime, the Chinese ambassador to South Africa, Lin Songtian.
He shared a tweet from China News Service, a regime-owned agency:

It is true. Justice always speak loudly.

The attached article listed several Americans, namely Clinton and Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA), criticizing Trump for blaming China.
“It is true,” Lin wrote regarding Clinton’s attack that Trump calling coronavirus a “Chinese virus” is “racist rhetoric.”
“Justice always speak [sic] loudly.”
Clinton has repeatedly taken potshots at Trump during the coronavirus crisis.
“Hospitals are already running out of ventilators and beds. Nurses are using bandanas as masks,” she typed on Thursday.

Arming China -- The Bill Clinton Connection
We even sold them our factories.
March 19, 2020
Michael Ledeen
Conversations on social media are beginning to stress the urgency of reconsidering our relationship with the People’s Republic of China. It was only recently that most Americans discovered that most of our pharmaceuticals are manufactured in China, and that the Chinese are in a position to withhold them during an emergency of the sort we now face.
Recent stories have documented Chinese espionage, including the bribery of top American biochemists at places like Harvard, that entailed the constant travel of U.S. experts between China and the United States. Given the short memories of American political leaders, these stories have made it appear as though espionage is of very recent vintage.
But it is not so. The United States has been arming China for more than 20 years.
In the Spring of 1997, Stephen Bryen and I wrote a detailed account in Heterodoxy, a magazine edited by David Horowitz and Peter Collier, dealing with American export controls of militarily useful technology. It was entered into the Congressional Record by Tillie Fowler, a Florida representative.
The theme of the account was how the Clinton Administration was arming China. Knowingly and deliberately.
It is often said that, in the world of advanced technology, embargoes or export controls cannot possibly work, because if they don't get it from us, they'll get it from somebody else.
This is false. To compete with the U.S. militarily, China has to get our technology, and, most of the time, that means getting it directly from us.
Steve and I knew that Bill Clinton and his foreign policy team were busily arming Beijing, which in turn armed “rogue nations” such as Iran, Iraq, Syria and Libya. Remember this all happened about 25 years ago. We noted that, on the one hand, it did make sense to sell a very limited amount of advanced military technology to the Communist Chinese, for example devices for nuclear safety, or for certain military systems with important civilian applications, such as satellite launchers. But the Clinton Administration was not doing that. Instead, it was executing a deliberate policy—apparently one that had full approval from the top levels of the Administration, despite the vigorous opposition from government agencies and from individual officials infuriated at the flow of top technology to China. This often took the form of selling off some of our finest factories to China, at pennies on the dollar, and included our finest supercomputers and the key element to modern jet engines, which had been blocked for export to the Soviet bloc.
The Pentagon redefined supercomputers as “civilian” products, and some 46 of them, including IBM, Convex (later, Hewlett Packard) and Silicon Graphics, were sold, many of them to the Chinese defense industry, or being put to use in nuclear weapons design.
This represents a truly terrifying hemorrhage, for supercomputers are the central nervous system of modern warfare. The sales of 46 supercomputers give the Chinese more of these crucial devices than are in use in the Pentagon, the military services, and the intelligence community…
They enable the Chinese to more rapidly design state-of-the-art weapons, add stealth capability to their missiles and aircraft, improve their anti-submarine warfare technology, and dramatically enhance their ability to design and build smaller nuclear weapons suitable for cruise missiles. Thanks to the folly of the Clinton Administration, the Chinese can now conduct tests of nuclear weapons, conventional explosives, and chemical and biological weapons on supercomputers.
That was the first wave. In the years since, we have bent over backwards to enable the Chinese to strengthen themselves, and it wasn’t until President Trump shut down air travel to and from the PRC in early 2020—in response to the global virus pandemic, not in the name of national security—that we began to get a grip on the massive influx of Chinese spies. But it’s important to remember that it all began with an American decision to arm China.
There are those who say that we had to strengthen China to act as a bulwark against Russia, but I don’t buy that. The big shift to Chinese manufacture came because they could make things far more cheaply than others could. That’s the profit motive, not national security.

Stunning! Hillary Clinton thanked by Chinese diplomat for criticizing Trump as racist over ‘Chinese flu’ label

Hillary Clinton has chosen sides, and she is so firmly enlisted in the Chinese propaganda effort to evade responsibility for foisting the COVID-19 virus on the world that an ambassador from that country has publicly endorsed her on Twitter in the name of “justice.”
Perhaps in the twisted worldview of pathological Trump hatred, it is a good thing to side with the progenitor of a plague upon the world, the country that openly plans to displace the United States and establish itself as the world’s hegemon.
Here is the tweet spotted by Rep. Paul Gosar:

As American Thinker readers know, identifying a virus by its place of origin is well established, and has never before been regarded as “racist.”  When was "German measles" w=ever denounced as a racist name?  Many progressive politicians and media figures called Coronavirus, as it was then known, the “Wuhan virus” early on.  When China’s strategy turned to denying its culpability and some propaganda organs absurdly claimed that US soldiers had seeded the virus in China, the claims of racism started appearing.
China has been behaving like an enemy, threatening to cut off supplies of pharmaceuticals (and thereby kill Amercans).  Siding with an enemy in a time of crisis has never before been a winning strategy, except when one’s homeland is defeated, at which point one becomes a Quisling.
Perhaps the former Secretary of State was misled into thinking this was a wise move by the dominant media efforts in support of China’s propaganda line.
There will be a reckoning.

THE DEMOCRAT PARTY’S BILLIONAIRES’ GLOBALIST EMPIRE requires someone as ruthlessly dishonest as Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama to be puppet dictators.

1.     Globalism: Google VP Kent Walker insists that despite its repeated rejection by electorates around the world, “globalization” is an “incredible force for good.”

2.     Hillary Clinton’s Democratic party: An executive nearly broke down crying because of the candidate’s loss. Not a single executive expressed anything but dismay at her defeat.

3.   Immigration: Maintaining liberal immigration in the U.S is the policy that Google’s executives discussed the most.

Even though it has gone virtually unreported by Corporate media, Breitbart News has extensively documented the Clintons’
longstanding support for “open borders.” Interestingly, as the Los Angeles Times observed in 2007, the Clinton’s praise for
globalization and open borders frequently comes when they are
speaking before a wealthy foreign audiences and donors.

The Rebirth of Our Nation and the End of Globalism

For the last few decades, we have watched the left's advancement of globalism, multiculturalism, and a world with no borders, to the detriment of our nation-state.  Nationalism was viewed with disdain by the media elite and their counterparts in academia as an outdated paradigm to be relegated to the dustbin of history.
In their effort to advance their mission, they created NAFTA, and under Bill Clinton, free trade with China was initiated in 2000.  China was officially welcomed into the World Trade Organization in 2001 with promises to reform tariffs and policies, tariff reductions, and open markets.  China also received Most Favored Nations Status.  Its admittance significantly resulted in it receiving the lowest tariffs, fewer trade barriers, and the highest import quotas.
Many of America's once thriving manufacturing companies moved their operations overseas, where cheap labor and fewer stifling regulations promised hefty profits and less governmental interference.  As a result, millions lost their jobs in cities throughout the United States.  The Rust Belt, once the manufacturing heartland of America in states such as Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, and Pennsylvania, experienced urban decay and losses in population due to deindustrialization.  Our leading auto manufacturers, steel suppliers, pharmaceuticals, and clothing manufacturers suddenly became a thing of the past.  Cities like Detroit lost their base, as did Cleveland, a large supplier of steel.  Currently, the Chinese produce 50% of the world's steel.  American aluminum manufacturers during the '50s and '60s provided 80% of the world's supply, but by 2014, it had dwindled to 32%.  We used to be a sizable supplier of rare earth minerals, but today, 80% of rare earth minerals critically needed in the production of cell phones, missile systems, hybrid cell batteries, and solar panels is mined in China.  Additionally, 80% of our pharmaceuticals are now manufactured in Communist China.  As China employed unfair trade deals that imposed huge tariffs upon our goods, it became clear that we were losing our economic edge and taking a backseat to a rising tyrannical world power.
Under the watch of Bill Clinton, George Bush, and Barack Hussein Obama, the outsourcing to China continued unabated.  There were conservatives within the GOP, particularly the Freedom Caucus, who objected, but they were quickly overruled by the establishment Republican old-guard globalists such as the late John McCain, Mitch McConnell, Mitt Romney, and Paul Ryan.  Obama's philosophy was to "lead from behind," and behind we fell.  It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that if one is behind, one is not in the lead, but Obama sold that unbelievable illogical slogan to millions of gullible empty heads.  For eight long years under Obama, our GDP never grew beyond 2%, and he shamelessly warned that without a magic wand, manufacturing jobs were never going to come back.  While cities throughout Asia and the Middle East were building new skyscrapers, our infrastructure was falling apart.  Highways, bridges, and city streets were old and in need of repair.  Many urban areas such as Detroit, Cleveland, Baltimore, and Los Angeles were rotting from within.
The entrance of President Trump, known for the art of the deal, into the Presidential campaign four years ago was met with ridicule and scorn by the elites in the media.  For years, he had watched the decline of the United States from a distance.  His decision to enter the race should not have been surprising.  He hinted as far back as 1988 that he would consider a presidential run if needed.
With America on the decline, new, bold leadership was indeed needed.  Ultimately, it would take an outsider with financial independent means, not beholden to a corrupt oligarchy or the many various lobbying groups in operation, to reverse course.  He entered the race with a mission to restore America's stature by making America great again.  At odds with the elite globalists who had dominated D.C. for many years, he quickly became their target since the restoration of America's greatness required an end to the reign of corruption that governed much of D.C.  His election to office marked the beginning of the end of their sweetheart deals made on the side while lining their pockets in return for either looking the other way or by literally selling out our country.
With the aid of the politicization of the FBI, the CIA, and our Justice Department under Barack Hussein Obama, the Democrats along with their Deep State counterparts invented a Russian collusion hoax; the Mueller report, which found no grounds for indictment; and the Ukrainian quid pro quo charge — and with less than a year left in his administration, they moved to impeach.  They failed miserably!  The economy was booming with low unemployment and a soaring stock market.  The re-election of President Trump was promising and looked imminent, but it came to a screeching halt when the Chinese either intentionally or negligently unleashed the Wuhan virus upon the world in December of last year.  Instead of focusing their energy upon a menacing totalitarian communist state on the world stage, House Democrats obsessed with Trump Derangement Syndrome, along with their sidekicks in the complicit mainstream media, spent all of December and January razor-focused upon a bogus impeachment trial.
The use of biological warfare is illegal and criminal.  When threatened with exposure, China retaliated with the threat of withholding much needed pharmaceuticals now needed more than ever.
The promise of globalization and the end of borders as advanced by leftists, who like to label themselves as Progressives, is now in question.  Political pundits who for years advanced policies that led to our dependency for goods that we once manufactured now have the gall to blame the president when it was their policies that led to the rise of China and our dependency.
Totalitarian communist states can never be trusted.  Their word is no good, and their signatures upon treaties are as worthless as their word.
Consequently, President Trump is now a wartime president.  He has amassed the best and the brightest among us in today's battle.  The future is an unknown, but if he succeeds at winning the next round, and I believe he will, our economy will bounce back stronger than ever.  If the past three years under President Trump are any indication, we will survive and thrive once again under his leadership.  The Chinese and his Democrat nemesis may rue the day they construed his demise.  Against all odds, his finest hour may by upon us as President Trump rallies our country against an enemy unleashed by a tyrannical regime.  In so doing, history will regard him as the president who saved American exceptionalism during a time of hardship and war.  It is he who will be credited with the rebirth of our nation, while globalism will be relegated to the dustbin of history, where it belongs.
