In conjunction with the Iran deal, the Obama administration also freed $1.7 billion in Iranian assets the United States had held since the 1970s from a failed arms deal with the Shah and which the U.S. refused to pay back to the Islamist government following the 1979 Iranian revolution. According to CNN, $400 million was flown to Iran in 2016 on “wooden pallets stacked with Swiss francs, euros and other currencies” for the first instalment by the Obama government.

Former President Barack Obama used a Passover message on Monday to work Palestinians into the Jewish holiday, calling for empathy for those suffering in “Israel and Gaza,” and for solidarity with “people of all religions.”
Obama’s equivocation obscured the fact that Palestinian terrorists continue to hold 133 Israeli hostages. He failed, in fact, to mention the hostages, instead saying that people should “remember everyone who is unable to celebrate the holiday with their loved ones.” He also failed to mention the ongoing wave of antisemitism on college campuses and in Democrat-run cities, saying that “people of all religions … deserve to feel safe and secure” wherever they are.
Obama also botched the meaning of the Passover holiday, which is not about “resilience, redemption, and renewal,” but specifically about freedom — the freedom of the Israelite slaves who were liberated in the Exodus from Egypt.
Like “hostages” and “antisemitism,” the word “freedom” did not appear in Obama’s message. He also neglected the fact that for many Jews, the freedom of the hostages, many of whom are slaves, is a major Passover theme this year.
Obama initially supported Israel unequivocally after Hamas started the war with its terror attack on October 7. After pressure from left-wing activists — and before Israel had entered Gaza — he backtracked and began to equivocate.

· promoting immigration and border policies designed to import massive blocs of foreigners who will eventually become reliable Democrat voters for generations to come;
· turning the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico into new U.S. states, thereby allowing Democrats to permanently pack the Senate with four additional members of their party;
· expanding the Supreme Court and packing it with newly appointed leftist ideologues;
· openly defying that same Supreme Court whenever its rulings conflict with Democrat Party preferences;
· forcibly censoring the free expression of any ideas that conflict with Democrat values; and
· pursuing the impeachment and imprisonment of their political foes on the flimsiest pretexts imaginable.

Three months earlier, when candidate Obama spoke in July 2008 to the open-borders group, National Council of La Raza, he stated that “together, we won’t just win an election; we will transform this nation.”
And a year before that, on July 17, 2007, candidate Obama spoke before the Planned Parenthood Action Fund to advocate for unfettered abortion rights and said: “I am absolutely convinced that we’re not just going to win an election, but more importantly we’re going to transform this nation.”
Indeed, nearly two decades earlier, in an interview published by the Daily Herald on March 3, 1990, Obama had candidly articulated his desire to “reshape America” and “be part of a transformation of this country.”

On July 4, 2020, Biden pledged to “rip the roots of systemic racism out of this country” and “transform” it.
On July 13, 2020, Biden promised to make “systemic” and “institutional” changes to American society.
On October 29, 2020, Biden channeled Obama’s famous utterance from 12 years earlier and said: “Five days left [until Election Day]. Five days. I believe when you use your power, the power of the vote, we literally are going to change the course of this country for generations to come.”
Shortly after two mass shootings that had killed a combined total of 18 people in Colorado and Georgia, White House press secretary Jen Psaki announced on March 24, 2021 that President Biden was planning to issue executive orders to address the issue of gun violence, and was “not waiting for anything to fail” in Congress.
In a September 9, 2021 speech announcing new federal COVID vaccine mandates, Biden said: “And tonight, I’m calling on all governors to require vaccination for all teachers and staff…. Let me be blunt. My plan also takes on elected officials in states that are undermining [teachers] and these lifesaving actions. […] If they’ll not help, if these governors won’t help us beat the pandemic, I’ll use my power as president to get them out of the way.”
On September 25, 2021, Biden said the following about the $1.9 trillion infrastructure bill that he was promoting: “My first piece of economic legislation will “fundamentally change the structure and the nature of the economy in this country.”
On October 4, 2021, Biden – citing the October 18 deadline by which time the Democrat-controlled Congress was seeking to raise the federal debt limit in order to allow for more government borrowing – condemned Senate Republicans for using the filibuster rule to block such a measure. “Republicans just have to let us do our job,” said Biden. “Just get out of the way. If you don’t want to help save the country, get out of the way so you don’t destroy it.”
On October 5, 2021, Biden said there was a “real possibility” that Senate Democrats might use their razor-thin majority to suspend the filibuster rule so they could forcibly raise the debt ceiling even with no Republican support at all.
During a June 30, 2022 press conference, Biden was asked what “specific actions” he might take in the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s recent decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. “I believe we have to codify Roe v. Wade in the law,” he said, “and the way to do that is to make sure Congress votes to do that. And if the filibuster gets in the way … we provide an exception for this, we require an exception to the filibuster for this action to deal with the Supreme Court decision.”
During a September 30, 2022 speech for Hispanic Heritage Month, Biden celebrated what he viewed as the political benefits of the mass migration – legal and illegal — of Mexicans and Central Americans into the United States. “When in American history has there been a circumstance where one ethnicity has the potential to have such a profound impact on the direction of a country?” he asked rhetorically. “Twenty-six percent of every child who’s in school today speaks Spanish — 26 percent,” Biden added.
Bernie Sanders
In October 2019, then-presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders said in a tweet: “Our campaign is not only about changing the system politically and economically. We will change the value system of this country.”
In August 2020, Sanders, who by then had dropped out of the presidential race, said that “when Joe Biden is elected president, when we have a Democratic House, when we have a Democratic Senate, we can begin the process of transforming this government and our nation.”

In a September 30, 2020 interview with MSNBC’s Joy Reid, then-Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer speculated about what he and his fellow Democrats could accomplish if they were to win both the White House and a majority in the U.S. Senate: “I’m not busting my chops to become majority leader to do very little or nothing, We are going to get a whole lot done. And as I’ve said, everything, everything is on the table.” He further elaborated: “I would — believe me, on D.C. and Puerto Rico … I’d love to make them states.”
On the afternoon of November 7, 2020 — shortly after America’s largest media networks announced that Joe Biden had won the Electoral College vote in the disputed 2020 presidential election — Schumer, raising a clenched left fist for emphasis, told a jubilant crowd of supporters in Brooklyn: “Now we take Georgia, and then we change the world! Now we take Georgia, and then we change America!” (This was a reference to the two upcoming Senate runoff elections slated for January 5, 2021 in Georgia. If the Democrats could win both, they would gain control of the U.S. Senate.)
In a January 30, 2021 interview with Al Sharpton on MSNBC’s Politics Nation, Schumer, who was now the Senate Majority Leader, re-emphasized his commitment to bringing transformational change to the United States: “Well, Rev, we have one goal: big, bold change in America” which would include “dealing with D.C. and Puerto Rican statehood.” He also articulated his desire to end the Senate filibuster rule, thereby empowering his party to ram its radical agenda down the throat of a deeply divided nation at a time when Democrats controlled both the House and Senate by the slimmest of margins.
At a March 16, 2021 press conference, Schumer spoke about the prospect of Democrats either dispensing with the Senate filibuster rule, or circumventing it by means of the budget reconciliation process (by which budget-related bills can pass with a simple majority and do not require 60 votes to overcome a filibuster). “[W]e must get bold change,” he said. “And if our Republican friends block it, we’re going to put our heads together and figure out the best way to go. Everything’s on the table. It’s plain and simple.”
· This was a stark contrast to what Schumer had said about the prospect of ending the filibuster in 2005, when Republicans held a solid majority in the Senate. SaidSchumer at that time: “The ideologues in the Senate want to turn what the Founding Fathers called ‘the cooling saucer of democracy’ into the rubber stamp of dictatorship. We will not let them. They want – because they can’t get their way on every judge – to change the rules in midstream, to wash away 200 years of history. They want to make this country into a banana republic, where if you don’t get your way, you change the rules…. It would be a doomsday for democracy if we do.”
· Schumer had similarly spoken out against ending the filibuster in April 2017, when he suggested that President Donald Trump should replace his Supreme Court nominee, Judge Neil Gorsuch, with “a mainstream nominee” who would be able to garner 60 votes in the Senate — rather than allowing the majority Republicans to do away with the filibuster and confirm Gorsuch with a simple majority vote: “Look, when a nominee doesn’t get 60 votes, you shouldn’t change the rules, you should change the nominee.”
On October 4, 2021, Senator Schumer, who wished to be able to raise the federal debt ceiling without any Republican support whatsoever, said: “We only ask that they [the Republicans] get out of the way, let Democrats pass it on our own …”
Nancy Pelosi
In September 2020, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi declared: “We can impeach him [Trump] every day of the week for anything he does.”
On October 12, 2021, Pelosi lamented the fact that some Democrats wished to scale back their party’s ten-year, $3.5 trillion “Build Back Better” spending bill. But she vowed that while the legislation’s price tag might be negotiated down, changes to the bill “only would be [made] in such a way that does not undermine the transformative nature of it.”

At a Congressional Black Caucus Foundation event on September 21, 2017, Rep. Maxine Waters asserted that Congress could impeach President Trump for any reason it chose. “Impeachment is about whatever the Congress says it is,” she said. “There is no law that can dictate impeachment. What the Constitution says is high crimes and misdemeanors, and we define that.”
In a July 22, 2019 tweet, Waters predicted that Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s appearance before Congress on July 24 would open the door for Democrats to impeach President Trump “immediately” and then incarcerate him. Wrote Waters: “Impeachment first, prison next!”
After the Supreme Court officially announced its decision to strike down Roe v. Wade on June 24, 2022, Waters, flanked by fellow Congressional Democrat Al Green, joined a throng of pro-abortion activists outside the Supreme Court building and told reporters: “You ain’t seen nothing yet. Women are going to control their bodies no matter how they try and stop us. The hell with the Supreme Court. We will defy them!”

On March 19, 2021, Senator Dianne Feinstein released a statement saying that, contrary to her previously articulated position, she was now supportive of ending the Senate filibuster: “[I]f … Republicans continue to abuse the filibuster by requiring cloture votes, I’m open to changing the way the Senate filibuster rules are used.”

Pramila Jayapal applauded Twitter for its decision to permanently ban the personal account of Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, who, according to the social media giant, had been spreading “misinformation” about the COVID-19 pandemic and the vaccines designed to combat it. “I think it’s just as well that we take one voice [Greene’s] that is deliberately spreading disinformation out of the mix as much as possible,” said Jayapal. “That’s certainly a good thing.”

On February 22, 2022, Rep. Ruben Gallego called for government and law-enforcement agencies to forcibly seize and then give away the vehicles of truck drivers who were heading to the District of Columbia in a peaceful convoy to protest the Biden administration’s COVID-19 vaccine mandates. “Perfect time to impound and give the trucks to small trucking companies looking to expand their business,” Gallego tweeted.
Conclusion
There you have it – the Democratic Party in all its totalitarian glory. Whatever obstacles its members may face, their instinctive response is always the same: iron-fisted thuggery.
If the Senate filibuster rule thwarts the Democrats’ legislative desires, they portray it as an antiquated relic of a racist epoch and demand that it be canceled.
If Democrats’ control of the U.S. Senate hangs precariously in the balance, they demand the sudden creation of a group of brand new majority-Democrat states that each will yield two new Democrat senators.
If Democrats are unable to cobble together electoral majorities in a few crucial swing states, they import massive blocs of people from across the globe who will eventually become reliable Democrat voters for generations to come.
If the radical-left Justices who sit on the Supreme Court are outnumbered by their originalist colleagues, Democrats seek to expand the Court and then pack it with newly appointed leftist ideologues to rubber-stamp every Democrat agenda item.
When that same Supreme Court issues rulings that conflict with Democratic Party preferences, the Democrats pledge with passionate zeal to defy those rulings.
If anyone dares to challenge Democrat positions on matters like the merits of critical race theory, COVID vaccine mandates, “gender-affirming” surgeries for minors, or claims that the 2020 presidential election was rife with Democrat corruption, Democrats respond by demanding that the most influential social-media platforms on Earth should censor and ban such heretics from the digital public square.
And, when challenged by a former Republican President who was highly effective at exposing and mocking the vapidity of various leftwing ideals and policies, the Democrats, in the longstanding tradition of fascists and communists from across the globe, simply call for his impeachment, arrest, and imprisonment.

The Western world has “collective amnesia” about the role globalist governments on both sides of the Atlantic played in financially empowering Iran to the point where it felt confident enough to launch a direct strike on Israel, Brexit leader Nigel Farage argues.
Mr Farage argued on Monday that the administration of Barack Obama, including then-Vice President Joe Biden, as well as neoliberal Eurocrats in Brussels, should all face blame for enriching the Islamist regime through the lifting of sanctions in the ill-fated Iran Deal, which allowed billions to pour into Tehran, and thereby enable the radical Shia government to not only fund its terrorist proxies in the region but also to launch over 300 drones, ballistic and cruise missiles at Israel on Saturday evening.

The so-called Iran Deal, officially the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was inked in 2015 in Vienna by representatives from Iran, the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, United States, as well as Angela Merkel’s Germany and the European Union.

The influx of foreign capital facilitated by the lifting of sanctions not only stabilised the Iranian economy, thereby facilitating the continued rule of the theocratic regime in Tehran but also enabled the Islamist government to fund terror groups, with even the Obama administration admitting at the time that Iran would use “some portion of that money” (from sanctions relief) to fund terror activities in the Middle East.
Before President Donald Trump withdrew from the deal, the sanctions relief saw Iranian oil exports soar, peaking at 2.8 million barrels per day in 2018. The European Union was a leading destination for Iranian fuel, with EU nations importing 8.2 billion euros in crude oil from Iran in 2018. Although EU imports of oil from Iran dramatically declined following the reintroduction of sanctions by the Trump administration, oil revenue has been acknowledged by the Biden administration as one of the top funding sources for the Islamic regime’s military and for its terrorist proxies.

However, the U.S. House of Representatives foreign affairs committee disputed these claims, highlighting that the Obama administration itself on at least two occasions had used wire transfers to send money to Iran.
Continuing the policies of his former boss, President Joe Biden has also lifted billions in sanctions on Iran, with the White House renewing a sanctions waiver to Tehran for up to $10 billion in assets held in Oman in November — just weeks after the Iranian-sponsored Hamas terror group committed the worst actor of terror in the history of Israel, killing around 1,200 people and kidnapping hundreds more and holding them hostage in Gaza.
The Biden administration re-approved the sanctions waiver just last month, while at the same time imposing sanctions on Israel for “extremist settler violence” in the West Bank. Biden also allowed sanctions on Iran’s missile and drone programmes from the U.N. Security Council to expire on October 18th, just days after the barbaric Hamas attack on Israel.

Joe Biden continues to undermine national security for America, and countries around the world
We constantly hear the Biden administration lecturing Israel about how they should soften up their attacks in Gaza, and for the need for a ceasefire with Hamas.
Hamas, along with other terrorist organizations supported by Iran, have pledged to wipe Israel off the map, but Israel is portrayed as a villain for wanting to wipe these terrorists off the map.
Biden Empowered Iran Proxies Attacking US Forces and Threatening Wider War Against Israel
Not only has the president empowered Iran by relaxing former President Donald Trump’s sanctions on the world’s top state sponsor of terrorism, but he has also empowered Iran’s proxies through various geopolitical moves that make war more likely. Biden is not alone; previous administrations have directed funds to ostensible U.S. allies in the region, funds that likely contribute to the proxies’ forces.
Biden has repeatedly told Iran to stop but strangely, the terroristic regime hasn’t listened. Trump put maximum pressure on Iran and devastated its finances by using economic sanctions to target the regime’s main source of revenue (oil). From Reuters:

The United States reimposed sanctions on Iran in November after pulling out of a 2015 nuclear accord between Tehran and six world powers. Aiming to cut Iran’s sales to zero, Washington in May ended sanctions waivers to importers of Iranian oil.
Iran’s exports of crude oil grew by roughly 50% last year to a five-year high of about 1.29 million barrels per day, with the vast majority going to China, helping to prevent a sharp increase in prices triggered by conflict in the Middle East.
And, as you could expect, the exports are mostly going to China, a nation which also hates America, but one that the Biden administration relies on for most of the minerals needed to build expensive, impractical, inefficient, unreliable electric cars powered by a flammable pollutant, which Biden wants to force Americans to buy.
As the brilliant Biden administration reportedly looks for peace in the Middle East while trying to protect Hamas and other terrorist organizations, it appears as though he has vetoed a few options for peace in Ukraine, including one deal right after the war started.
Why didn’t the public hear about these ceasefire offers, that the Biden administration blocked, in Ukraine? That would seem to be an important piece of information when the administration is essentially asking for a blank check:

It is clear that the U.S. and its allies were out to sabotage possibilities for peace immediately after the Russian invasion. Were it not for their interference, the current war could have ended in early March 2022—about a week after it started. Thanks to Arakhamia, we now have confirmation of this fact.
Russian President Vladimir Putin’s suggestion of a ceasefire in Ukraine to freeze the war was rejected by the United States after contacts between intermediaries, three Russian sources with knowledge of the discussions told Reuters.
So they blocked peace deals while demanding a blank check from Americans to fund the war. Anyone who dares want accountability for the money spent in Ukraine is falsely called a Putin puppet or supporter. The talking points are repeated endlessly.
Russian President Vladimir Putin openly expressed his preference for President Joe Biden as a better choice for the White House than former President Donald Trump. During a recent interview, he indicated that it would be easier for Russia to deal with Washington with Biden in the Oval Office and downplayed concerns about the president’s age and mental acuity.
Obama and Biden repeatedly have appeased Putin. Obama told Russia he would be more flexible if he were reelected in 2012, and he certainly was. When Putin attacked Ukraine, Obama refused requests from Ukraine for weapons to appease Putin.
When Biden was (s)elected he reversed Trump’s sanctions on the gas pipeline to Germany, and Biden’s energy policies have jacked up the price of crude oil by almost 100% from $40 per barrel when Biden took office to almost $80 today. The crude oil price was low during Trump’s years and has been much higher while Biden has been in charge. Putin must be thankful for all that extra money to finance his aggression and ambition.
And who wouldn’t want a president like Biden who trashes Trump for telling NATO countries to fulfill their obligation to spend more for their own defense. Putin loves it when European countries spend little to defend themselves.
Anyone who believes that China, Russia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, North Korea or any country that relies on oil for the bulk of their income gives a hoot about their carbon footprint should have their head examined; the oil producers are laughing all the way to the bank. (They also love it when Biden continually says that the greatest existential threat to the world is either Trump and his supporters or climate change.)
Any president or candidate who believes that a hypothetical few degree temperature rise, or Republican voters who want to make America great again are the greatest threat instead of enemies like Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea, doesn’t have their priorities straight and should not be allowed to destroy our great country.
These types of politicians are especially dangerous when they invite people from around the world, with little or no vetting to cross our border.
I can see the foreign leaders licking their chops as they watch the U.S. military lose recruits as woke brass concentrate on DIE, pronouns, and electrifying military vehicles instead of doing their job to build and maintain the strongest defense necessary to protect the American people.

Many years ago, I worked for Virgin Atlantic airline and was fortunate to be awarded a free fam pass on El Al airlines to Israel.

I have always been in awe of the stoicism and resilience of the Israelis living under the constant threat of annihilation by an enemy sworn to their demise. What I cannot understand is why this hatred and ignorance is so widespread globally and especially here in the United States. Israel is our strongest democratic ally in the Middle East and as a Catholic, I am extremely grateful that our historical Christian sites have been protected and guarded by this nation. In addition, Israel has always been one of the first responders with aid to all stricken global areas suffering from natural disasters like earthquakes and tsunamis. Unfortunately, the anti-Zionist hatred by Muslim countries for Israel is so fierce that some have rejected all aid offered by this Jewish nation.
It is appalling to witness the insane anti-Israel protests by Americans and even some Hollywood celebrities since the October 7 massacre of Israeli citizens. They continue to demand a ceasefire in the war to eliminate the Hamas terrorists responsible for that massacre. Do they even know what Hamas is?
Hamas is a violent spinoff of the Muslim Brotherhood which has been deemed a terrorist organization by the U.S., Canada, and the European Union due to its use of suicide bombings and rocket attacks against civilians. It has perfected the military strategy of embedding their soldiers under hospitals, schools, mosques and children's play areas so that any attack will cause collateral damage of innocent citizens. The 300 miles of tunnels to Israel they’ve constructed under restrictive buildings are meant to shelter their soldiers, not their citizens, because Hamas does not care for Palestinian lives any more than they care for Israeli lives.
It is one of the most evil, barbaric organization that has ever existed and I would include the Nazis in that vile collection. They rape, behead babies, slaughter children and women and I wish the ignorant and brainwashed Americans crying about Israel committing "genocide" would get their heads out of their butts and actually answer this question -- what choice does Israel have except to eliminate Hamas?
Like the United States, Israel does not start wars,. They enter into the situation of war because they have been attacked or to assist their allies who are in peril. Hamas waged war on Israel on October 7, 2023 by invading southern Israel, killing 1,200 civilians and taking hostages, which is a war crime according to the Geneva Convention which means nothing to barbarians, of course. In the past, Israel could depend on aid from America but this current administration is about as anti-Israel as the DNC and Obama allow it to be.
The mainstream media is doing all it can to debunk the horror stories by conservative bloggers and eyewitnesses describing the massacre in sharp detail. The brain-dead Millennials protesting on their Columbia University campus against Israel probably believe the debunking of the IDF claims of the October 7 massacre. Columbia University has always been the site of student protests since the Vietnam War. Of course, most of those students were afraid of being drafted and killed in battle so in some way, one could understand the reason behind these demonstrations.
There is, however, absolutely no good reason for these students to be involved in these preposterous demonstrations which are probably planned and paid for by left-wing Soros-funded anti-American organizations.
After the NYPD finally arrested more than 100 of these protesters at the university, what did they find? Were these individuals Palestinians suffering deadly family losses in Gaza or refugees demanding an end to the alleged genocidal IDF attacks? Palestinian Ruling Party Admits: Hamas Steals Aid, Kills Aid Workers in Gaza
Fatah, the “moderate” ruling party of the Palestinian Authority, has admitted on live television that Hamas steals humanitarian aid and kills aid workers in the Gaza Strip.
The admission, captured by Palestinian Media Watch, confirms what Israel has been saying all along — and goes further, stating that Hamas is not only responsible for endangering aid workers by hiding among them, but also asserts that Hamas has been killing aid workers directly.
Palestinian Media Watch reported (original emphasis):
In an incredible and rare admission, Fatah has corroborated what Israel has been saying all along: that Hamas is responsible for turmoil connected to distribution of the humanitarian aid sent into Gaza. A Fatah TV anchor reported that throughout the war, Hamas has been committing what is essentially a triple crime—it has attacked and killed aid workers in order to control aid distribution, stolen the food and water for itself, and caused food prices to skyrocket.
Fatah-run Awdah TV host: “Hamas’ persecution of any party who is a source for distributing the [humanitarian] aid or securing it began from the start of the war (i.e., 2023 Gaza war), as Hamas persecuted well-known figures and teams of volunteers on the ground in mid-October [2023]. It attacked them and killed some of them for two reasons: Firstly, preventing any activity by any [other] party in the Gaza Strip; and secondly, ensuring Hamas control over the aid and its storage, which of course leads to these crazy and unreal prices that no one can pay in the shadow of this destruction. This is a damning indictment by Fatah, exposing Hamas’ heinous actions against humanitarian aid workers and Palestinian civilians in need of food. World powers were quick to decry Israel for an inadvertent tragedy that killed several World Central Kitchen personnel. These same authorities and media outlets must now condemn Hamas with equal vigor for its intentional murder of aid workers. A failure to condemn Hamas for intentional murder by the countries and frameworks who condemned Israel for accidental killing would expose once again a glaring double standard by international bodies, and especially the media, that unfortunately has accompanied this entire war.
The Biden administration has blamed Israel for the death of aid workers, with President Joe Biden claiming this month that “Israel has not done enough to protect aid workers trying to deliver desperately needed help to civilians.”

The encampment was an escalation of previous pro-Palestine actions, designed to echo the university’s history of protest. “Columbia University has a rich legacy of student activism, from Vietnam War protests in 1968 to being the first Ivy League school to divest from Apartheid South Africa in 1985,” wrote CUAD on Wednesday. “The Gaza Solidarity Encampment will remain until Columbia University divests all finances, including the endowment, from corporations that profit from Israeli apartheid, genocide, and occupation in Palestine.”
The peaceful occupation began the same day Columbia President Minouche Shafik testified at an antisemitism probe by the US House Committee on Education and the Workforce.
Well, not really. The antisemitism was all about getting attention, and yes, they've got it.
Naturally, the Nation's reporter has been in touch with Hirsi:
Another protester, Isra Hirsi—the daughter of Representative Omar—said that the hearing was helpful for visibility: “Not only can we situate ourselves in the current moment, but we can also take advantage of the media presence, of the pressure being put on Shafik and the board of trustees.”
Columbia's Graduate School of Journalism (of which I'm an alum) said they'd gladly help out with the coverage:
But it's strange stuff, given that this week is class week and alumni week, where the school showcases itself to recently admitted students, and alumni from various years (this year is my class's 30th year), is so helping fuel the madness probably doesn't do much to help either the school or the university itself, reputation-wise. I don't doubt that anyone affiliated with journalism wouldn't be interested in covering this -- I would, too -- but it's pretty obvious from young Hirsi's statement that that's the idea, and the antisemites are eager to get their antisemitism out there, normalizing the evil, or else can trust the press to cover up this kind of talk, which seems to be what we are seeing. The mainstream of the American culture may not see the evidence of ranting antisemitism of the protestors, but the Jewish students on campus don't have that luxury. They get it up close, and then the press effectively smothers that part of the story.
All I can think is what my Jewish classmates, most of them either friends or friendly, must think of this madhouse atmosphere as they try to get in through the extensive security at the Amsterdam-side gate, not the Broadway gate down the cherry blossom path that we used to walk through as students in search of news, which is locked tight right now. Virtually all of them are very liberal, yet here they are, the objects of screaming, and like other Jewish people on campus, neither safe nor secure, even if they say they are pro-Palestine, which some undoubtedly are. They are Jews, and this is raw, naked Jew-hate among Rep. Ilhan Omar's set and the trust funders. Some will ignore this. Some will dismiss it as minor deviations. Some will blame Trump. But the ugliness is still there.
The president of Columbia, Minouche Shafik, gave all the right answers to Congress in her testimony about not condoning antisemitism, (not making herself the next Claudine Gay), but the results at Columbia speak for themselves, this is the worst of the worst maelstrom of antisemitism anyone has seen in our generation.
The jschool is helping keep the press spotlight on the protests, the press itself is carefully curating the hate out, and Cornell West and other scholars affiliated with the school are actually in the protests.
It's mixed messages, which is a kind of weakness emboldening the protests. Obviously, there is something in the leadership and culture at Columbia fostering this antisemitism that's white-hot at this point. And right in the middle of it is Omar's spawn, claiming to be holding a peaceful protest. If Shafik has any sense at all, she'll shut it all down now, before more damage to the school or harm to the students is done.
Israel: Terror Can Be Conquered Only With Greater Terror
On October 7, 2023, the grisly gangs of Hamas terrorists launched a violent assault on Israel, indiscriminately raping and killing women and children, torturing its soldiers, and taking hostages. The sheer brutality of the attack stunned Israel. Despite Israel’s subsequent massive bombardment and ground invasion of Gaza, six months later, the Israeli-stated objectives of eradicating Hamas and releasing hostages remain as elusive as ever.
This situation prompts inquiries into how Hamas could manage to plan and carry out an attack right under the nose of the Israeli intelligence services, as well as why the once formidable Israeli army that, in the past, successfully defeated well-trained Arab armies with superior manpower and equipment struggles to eradicate a much smaller terrorist force.
The country’s military leadership has become too politically oriented to trouble itself with the security of the country. Since the beginning of the Hamas attack, the descendants of Moshe Dayan and Ariel Sharon seem to be overwhelmed by confusion and indecisiveness when it comes to military planning and execution.
The indiscriminate bombing of Gaza appeared more as an act of desperation rather than a well-planned military campaign. It looked effective on TV screens but was often ineffective as a practical matter, particularly since the terrorists were hidden in underground tunnels. The nation’s political leadership displays a lack of maturity with its continuing efforts to replace Netanyahu and an absence of unity even among the Prime Minister’s supporters.
It became evident that despite decades of fighting terrorists, Israel has failed at the critical distinction that a war with terrorists differs from conventional wars, as does the definition of victory. In a conventional war, the army loses if it does not win; in a war with terrorists, terrorists win if they do not lose. And it’s easy for them not to lose because, at a fundamental level, they have nothing to lose. Terrorism’s purpose is to terrorize, to break the will, and to paralyze society into submission.
Therefore, terror cannot be defeated through conventional warfare. The terror can be conquered only with greater terror. Unless the Israelis learn this well-established fact, they will never attain a sense of true security.
It is a reality of warfare that soldiers are expected to die. However, the deaths of women and children bring the horror close to home and demoralize the combatants and the entire society. Targeting civilians had been a common practice during WWII.
As Winston Churchill declared, “We will continue bombing until every home, factory, shipyard, and hospital is reduced to ruins.” Cologne, Hamburg, and Dresden were, in fact, reduced to ruins, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of civilians. The United States also targeted civilians when they dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki to instill an overwhelming sense of fear among the Japanese population.
To destroy Hamas and prevent even greater tragedy in the future, Israelis must demonstrate unrestrained ruthlessness and unwavering determination.
When it comes to Gaza, this task is straightforward because the Hamas militants do not wear uniforms, deliberately blurring the line between terrorists and civilians, whether to depict all Gazans as militants or all militants as civilians.
In fact, terrorism in Gaza is a family affair. The non-combatants are the terrorists’ mothers, fathers, brothers, and children. They provide moral, financial, and logistical support to those engaged in combat against Israel and play a vital role by supplying necessities such as food, clothing, and medical aid and constructing military infrastructure such as tunnels.
In fact, their involvement extends far beyond mere support. They are complicit accomplices holding and torturing Israeli hostages in their residences and willingly serving as a human shield for the terrorists, exploiting Israel’s obsession with avoiding civilian casualties. Thus, even for the most liberal Jews, the matter of targeting these ostensible “civilians” should not be a point of contention.
There is also a court of public opinion. Recent events, such as the bombing of Yugoslavia, the invasion of Iraq, and other NATO-led wars around the world resulting in millions of casualties, highlight the fact that international outrage seems only to surface when Israel accidentally kills seven volunteers who knowingly entered a war zone at their own peril.
Given this context, Israel shall keep in mind that friends will support it, while the international community will condemn Israel anyway. Therefore, as Nixon’s maxim goes, one pays the same price for doing something halfheartedly as for doing it completely.
The ongoing conflict is a product of the Jewish liberal culture of appeasement. We all remember the ridiculous and offensive quote of Golda Meir, “We can forgive the Arabs for killing our children. We cannot forgive them for forcing us to kill their children.”
This cultural trait is deeply rooted in the Jewish identity and is further reinforced by external influences and legal institutions. Despite experiencing numerous wars, Israelis have failed to grasp that forgiven enemies driven by absolutes of religious fanaticism will never become their friends.
Above all, Israelis must comprehend that placing the safety of Gazans above that of their soldiers and allowing them virtually unlimited humanitarian aid renders this conflict unwinnable. To emerge victorious, Israelis must acquire the psychological stamina to bring terror back to where it came from.
The initial step involves doing as Churchill did: Continuing to bomb “until every home, factory, shipyard, and hospital is reduced to ruins,” and halting the irrational influx of humanitarian assistance, thereby increasing casualties while depriving the terrorists of vital resources such as sustenance, water, medical supplies, and weaponry. The second step is to offer these necessities only in exchange for the release of hostages. Ultimately, without hostages as an insurance policy and/or bargaining chip and lacking material support, the resistance will inevitably crumble.
