One thing we are very proud of is the incredible amount of work that has gone into the complete overhaul of our primary website and our entire national operations. While much work remains to be done, we have refined and improved about everything and are now ready to begin the new strategy we provided you in an earlier email.
In 2012 we will make illegal immigration a top issue in the elections and endorse more candidates than ever before and increase our influence in Washington. We will pass more laws like the ones we have supported in Arizona, South Carolina, Oklahoma, and Georgia where local authorities report exoduses of illegal aliens and increase job opportunities for Americans.
We need your help to continue the fight!
We have made some changes and improvements in our fundraising plans.
We must raise $30,000 by March 20th for ALIPAC 2.0 to continue to fight. Failure to reach this level will stop all operations forevermore. We are already in our fallback position and we have reduced the amount we need to fund our operations and we are reducing the amount of time we will spend raising the funds.
You can now donate by credit card, Paypal, phone, or mail using our new secure DONATIONS LINK at....
http://www.alipac.us/donations/ Please help us get our first funds drive of 2012 off to a very strong start and help us get into position for a strong launch of our unprecedented campaign operations that begin next Monday!
We will prepare letters to our donors which cost us around $1 per letter to send in mid February. Please donate online or by mail now so we can save funds and remove you from the list of ALIPAC supporters that need a letter sent to encourage you to participate.
We also have a feature where you can make arrangements to give a little to ALIPAC each month using our Subscribe feature. OBAMA - THE FIRST LA RAZA SUPREMACY PRESIDENT

OBAMA’S CONNECTION TO THE MEXICAN SUPREMACIST FASCIST PARTY of LA RAZA

NEXT TO BANKSTERS, ONLY LA RAZA HOLDS MORE POSITIONS IN THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION. HE’S WORKED FOR ILLEGALS FROM HIS FIRST DAY. ONE WONDERS WHY THE SITUATION WOULD HAVE BEEN IF HE HAD WORKED AS HARD FOR BLACK AMERICANS???

*

THE LA RAZA PRESIDENT

“But far more significant was the President's trip to the National Council of La Raza in Washington yesterday where the President spoke on the need for Hispanic empowerment and the need to pass comprehensive immigration reform.”

Obama Courts Radical La Raza Group

A few weeks ago I told you that the Obama administration has nearly tripled the amount of taxpayer funds given to the radical Mexican separatist group the National Council of La Raza (NLCR). Not coincidentally, this increased generosity commenced after Obama tapped one of NCLR’s former top officials (Cecilia Munoz) to serve as his Director of Intergovernmental Affairs.

Well, following on that story, President Obama delivered a high-profile speech to NCLR this week, letting the radicals know he plans on giving more to them than just cash. Now, to be fair, this organization has for a long time had friends in high places in both political parties and enough pull to secure speeches from such political heavyweights as Governor Rick Perry (R-TX).

The Chicago Sun-Times has the full transcript of Obama’s speech. However, I thought I would share with you a few of the key excerpts and headlines:

  1. Obama noted the influence of the NCLR within his administration.

It is good to be back with NCLR. It is good to see all of you. Right off the bat, I should thank you because I have poached quite a few of your alumni to work in my administration.

  1. Obama promised to complete his mission to pass the Dream Act, another of his “stealth amnesty” initiatives that would provide permanent residency to illegal alien high school graduates as long as they go to college or join the military:

I promised you I would work tirelessly to fix our broken immigration system and make the DREAM Act a reality. And two months ago…I went down to the border of El Paso to reiterate…my vision for an immigration system that holds true to our values and our heritage, and meets our economic and security needs. And I argued this wasn't just the moral thing to do, it was an economic imperative.

  1. Obama stated that he is very tempted to “bypass Congress and change the laws on [his] own”:

Now, I swore an oath to uphold the laws on the books, but that doesn't mean I don't know very well the real pain and heartbreak that deportations cause. I share your concerns and I understand them. And I promise you, we are responding to your concerns and working every day to make sure we are enforcing flawed laws in the most humane and best possible way. Now, I know some people want me to bypass Congress and change the laws on my own. And believe me, right now dealing with Congress…

[The audience began to chant: “Yes, you can! Yes, you can! Yes, you can! Yes, you can! Yes, you can!”]

Believe me, believe me, the idea of doing things on my own is very tempting.

[Actually, Obama is being modest here. As I’ve pointed out previously, Obama has already bypassed Congress and enacted stealth amnesty by shutting down deportation proceedings against illegal aliens, including violent criminals. Read more here.]

  1. Obama made a campaign appeal for himself and for Democrats:

But here's the only thing you should know. The Democrats and your President are with you. Don't get confused about that. Remember who it is that we need to move in order to actually change the laws. [This is a smart political ploy says political strategist Douglas Schoen in an opinion column published on FoxNews.com.]

Obama closed, as politicians often do in speeches of this nature, by recounting the contributions of immigrants to our country: “This country has always been made stronger by our immigrants. That [sic] what makes America special. We attract talented, dynamic, optimistic people who are continually refreshing our economy and our spirit.”

No one would dispute the wonderful contributions of immigrants who come here legally for a better life. But here’s the thing. Obama is talking to the wrong group. The National Council of La Raza (The Race) is not a collection of “dynamic, optimistic people” who have an interest in “refreshing” the American spirit!

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, but it bears repeating, the NCLR is a radical racialist group — too many members have absolutely no respect for the United States, most especially not for our immigration laws! (This was evident when the NCLR crowd urged Obama to violate the Constitution during his speech and unilaterally grant amnesty.)

Moreover, this is the same organization that supports “radical Chicano” groups that seek to conquer the American Southwest by force or by ballot box and return it to Mexico. (Here’s our special report that makes this point.)

Do these seem like the type of immigrants who want to seek the American dream?

No matter the reason why Obama is pushing his illegal immigration strategy – whether it’s a deep-seated belief or a ploy to attract the Hispanic vote – his polices are downright dangerous and flagrantly unconstitutional. Judicial Watch will continue to oppose them at every turn.

Until next week…

Hispanics: Why a Speech to La Raza Was More Important Than a Speech to the Nation

By Douglas E. Schoen

Published July 27, 2011 | FoxNews.com

President Obama's most important speech in terms of his long term political fortunes was not his address to the nation last night on the debt ceiling crisis.

To be sure, the President felt a need to reiterate the basic argument he has been making about the superiority of his plan over that of the Republicans and speaker John Boehner. And with Boehner's response it seems pretty clear that both sides have, for the time being, hardened their positions and solidified support with core constituencies.

In short, neither side has changed many minds.

But far more significant was the President's trip to the National Council of La Raza in Washington yesterday where the President spoke on the need for Hispanic empowerment and the need to pass comprehensive immigration reform. With his position among whites weakening and his standing in states like North Carolina and Virginia and Indiana very much up for grabs, the President is going to need to consolidate his hold in states with large Hispanic populations like Florida, Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada, that he won last time, and add other states with Hispanic populations like Arizona, Illinois and New Jersey, and  to be able to get the 270 electoral votes that he needs to win the election.

The President did cancel a couple of fundraisers yesterday, and that was probably reasonable and appropriate, given the ongoing crisis. It wouldn't look particularly good for the President to be raising money from fat cats at a time when he is seemingly making tough decisions on the budget and the deficit with Congressional Republicans and when the nation is facing a legitimate crisis.

But the largely unwritten story of the 2012 election, is the importance of the Hispanic vote. In last 15 years the size of the Hispanic vote has almost doubled, and in key swing states they are the critical group that will make the difference next year. With Obama having gotten close to 70% of the Hispanic in 2008, he needs that level of support or most likely more to win reelection in what by all rights will be closer contest in 2012 than it was in 2008.

The President and his advisors know this-- seemingly the Republicans don't--otherwise the GOP would be more proactive in supporting some form of comprehensive immigration reform. The Tea Party members were elected to stand up for their constituents on fiscal issues, and are certainly doing that, no matter what the political consequences are in next year's congressional election.

The issue of immigration is of huge national importance to our country, and even greater political importance in the short term electoral context. No one, save the President and his advisors, are seemingly focused on it, and this could be the key to whether he succeeds in winning reelection his year.

Douglas E. Schoen is a political strategist and Fox News contributor. His most recent book is "Mad as Hell: How the Tea Party Movement is Fundamentally Remaking Our Two-Party System" published by Harper, an imprint of HarperCollins.

AS AMERICANS WE NEED TO DIALOGUE ABOUT THE CRUELTY OF MEXICAN GANG MURDERS, CRIME AND THE EVER EXPANDING MEXICAN DRUG CARTELS OPERATING IN OUR OPEN AND UNDEFENDED BORDERS EVEN AS WE SQUANDER BILLIONS IN PROTECTING THE 9-11 INVADING SAUDIS INTERESTS AGAINST THEIR ENEMIES WHICH ARE EVERYONE IN THE MIDDLE EAST!

THE DEMS ARE THE PARTY OF ILLEGALS! THEY HAVE PROMISED OBAMA’S LA RAZA PARTY BASE AMNESTY, OPEN BORDERS, NO E-VERIFY, MUCHO DREAM ACTS, OBAMAcare (YES, OBAMA DID LIE THAT HIS OBAMAcare DID NOT INCLUDE ILLEGALS)…. Or at the very least CONTINUED NON-ENFORCEMENT SO THAT THERE WILL SOON BE A TIME WHEN THERE ARE SO MANY ILLEGALS VOTING THEY WILL ELECT THE NEXT LA RAZA SUPREMACIST PRESIDENT AFTER OBAMA, THE GREAT HISPANDERER AND FIRST LA RAZA PRESIDENT (no administration in history has been so infested with a foreign political party as Obama’s is with LA RAZA!).

Leaving aside the cruelty of squeezing the poorest workers for a greater portion of their wages to make a point about illegal immigration, the bill punishes not just the undocumented, but the communities they live in, because a poor family’s hard-earned wages get spent: on things like groceries, child care, utilities, gas and rent. This would be the bottom line of the House bill: a Congress that has failed for years to fix the immigration system, using its failure to harm children and hurting those at the bottom of the ladder to avoid the slightest pressure on millionaires. The Senate would be mad to go along with it.

THERE ARE MORE BILLIONAIRES IN MEXICO, NOT EVEN INCLUDING THE MEXICAN DRUG CARTEL LORDS, THAN IN SAUDI ARABIA! WHY NOT LET CARLOS SLIM HELP HIS OWN PEOPLE INSTEAD OF SHOVING HIS LA RAZA SUPREMACY DOWN OUR THROATS FROM HIS PAPER, THE NEW YORK TIMES???

A Harder Squeeze on the Poor

House Republicans have hit upon a noxious scheme to help pay for an extension of the payroll tax cut: a tax increase on millions of poor working families. A bill passed by the House and now in conference seeks to deny cash refunds under the child tax credit to those who file tax returns using “individual taxpayer identification numbers” issued by the Internal Revenue Service. Only those using Social Security numbers would be eligible.

The refundable portion of the child tax credit is a life-saver for the working poor. Families that would be cut off by this policy change make an average of $21,000 per year, according to the Treasury Department. They would lose an average of $1,800. About 80 percent of those families are Hispanic. The taxpayer identification numbers are used frequently, though not exclusively, by unauthorized immigrants to pay the taxes because they are not eligible for Social Security numbers. The I.R.S. accepts their tax payments and allows families to claim the child tax credit regardless of immigration status. This policy is an effective antipoverty tool that protects children, most of whom are American-born citizens.

The Republicans who have flatly rejected tax increases on the rich have settled instead on limiting this refund, which kept about 1.3 million children from falling into poverty in 2009.

Illegal Aliens Bump U.S. Citizens For Mental Healthcare

Last Updated: Mon, 03/08/2010 - 3:20pm

In the latest outrage involving illegal immigration, mentally ill U.S. citizens in Florida are being placed on waiting lists for treatment because public facilities are overcrowded with illegal aliens.

As if this weren’t disturbing enough, state officials want to turn the illegal immigrants over to federal authorities but patient confidentiality laws forbid it because it would violate the illegal aliens’ privacy. The baffling information was revealed this week by a northern Florida newspaper that says the crisis puts the state at the forefront of a national debate over whether illegal immigrants should enjoy the same rights to public health care as legal residents.

SUNSHINE STATE ANNUALLY SPENDS $165 MILLION FOR HEALTHCARE FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS

The Sunshine State annually spends about $165 million on healthcare for illegal immigrants. A chunk of that, nearly $20 million, was spent to provide mental health care at public institutions for at least 86 illegal aliens, according to a November survey quoted in the piece. The cost is likely much higher, authorities say, because there are probably more unidentified undocumented immigrants in custody.

This has presented a huge burden on the state’s mental health resources and created a waiting list of 60 beds for those legal U.S. residents and citizens who need care. State lawmakers who oppose the current system have spoken out against it but failed to take action. The Republican who chairs Florida’s healthcare policy committee points out that it would be more appropriate for the illegal immigrants to “go back to their countries and get treatment there,” but so far has done nothing to remedy the situation.

U.S TAXPAYERS SPEND TENS OF BILLIONS TO PROVIDE “FREE” MEDICAL CARE FOR ILLEGALS. MEXICO IS PUSHING TO EXPAND THIS SIGNIFICANTLY. SO IS OBAMA, PELOSI, FEINSTEIN, BOXER, REID!

U.S. taxpayers spend tens of billions of dollars annually to provide free medical care for illegal immigrants nationwide with states that border Mexico taking the biggest hit. The expense has become so unbearable in California—long an illegal alien sanctuary—that several municipalities eliminated the perk last year to save tens of millions of dollars in the midst of the state’s dire financial crisis.

MEXICO OPERATES LA RAZA MEDIA TO PROMOTE EXPANSION OF THE MEXICAN WELFARE STATE.

Adding to the problem is the fact that Mexico, the country that provides the largest amount of illegal immigrants in the U.S., has long promoted America’s generous public health centers. It even operates a Spanish-language program (Ventanillas de Salud, Health Windows) in about a dozen U.S. cities that refers its nationals—living in the country illegally—to clinics where they can get free medical care without being turned over to immigration authorities.

*

For some, a struggle WHO THINKS ABOUT THE STRUGGLE OF THE AMERICANS?

Some illegal immigrants have used stolen Social Security numbers to qualify for health programs -- a form of medical identity theft increasingly on hospital radars. Many more scramble to pay for their medicine and doctors visits in cash, a challenge in an economy where day-laborer work has dried up.

Where To Go When Your Local Emergency Room Goes Bankrupt?"

During the past ten years 84 California hospitals have declared bankruptcy and closed their Emergency Rooms forever.  Financially crippled by legislative and judicial mandates to treat illegal aliens have bankrupted hospitals!   In 2010, in Los Angeles County alone, over 2 million illegal aliens recorded visits to county emergency rooms for both routine and emergency care.  Per official figures, the cost is $1,000 dollars for every taxpayer in Los Angeles County.

Mexico Promotes Free U.S. Healthcare For Illegal Immigrants

Time to wake up people! With unemployment at 12% and the state going broke, our tax dollars are going to pay for healthcare for hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens. To the tune of over a billion dollars a year!

Read on:

Mexico's government operates programs in about a dozen American cities that refers its nationals--living in the U.S. illegally--to publicly funded health centers where they can get free medical care without being turned over to immigration authorities.

The program is called Ventanillas de Salud (Health Windows) in Spanish and its mission is to help illegal immigrants find U.S. hospitals, clinics and other government programs where they can get free services without being deported for violating federal immigration laws.

Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, San Diego and Indiana are among the cities where Mexican consulates operate the health referral system which annually costs U.S. taxpayers billions of dollars. In Los Angeles County alone, illegal immigrants cost taxpayers nearly $440 million in health services annually and a whopping $1.1 billion statewide.

The Mexican consul in Los Angeles proudly announced that nearly 300,000 Mexicans in the area have benefited from his government's health referral program, which he says actually saves the county money by encouraging immigrants to seek preventive care rather than waiting for more expensive emergency treatment.

The Southern California operation promises to assess "consulate clients" for eligibility to government-funded health insurance and other primary care services and offers free legal assistance to those who are denied coverage. Its goal is to improve access to health services for immigrants of Mexican origin by formalizing a health education, medical home referral and insurance enrollment program.

In Chicago, the Mexican consul's Spanish-language web site heavily promotes the Illinois Department of Health's low-cost prescription medicine program for illegal aliens and various free medical services throughout the state. It encourages all Mexicans in the area to pursue the valuable U.S. government-financed services for their entire family.

The Indiana-based program boasts that it serves thousands of "Mexican nationals" living in that state as well as Ohio, Kentucky and southern Illinois. Mexican officials claim that its highly successful pro-health program sends out a clear message to other Mexican consulates throughout the country and the world.

Although these programs facilitate people to remain in the country illegally, Mexico is working hard to expand them to all 47 U.S. consulates to better serve its nationals. In the meantime, U.S. taxpayers will keep picking up the exorbitant tab of medically treating the millions who live in the country illegally.

LA RAZA SUPREMACY IN FLORIDA – WHO REALLY PAYS FOR MEXICO’S WELFARE SYSTEM IN OUR BORDERS?

WHY WE ARE IN SUCH A MONEY SQUEEZE

Florida ER doctor's notes

“Having spent three weeks in a hospital in Naples, Florida with my wife I couldnt help noticing what was going on in the hospital and I had a lot of time to talk to the doctors and nurses about what I had observed. Below is a commentary from an ER Doctor. Do you think this might be a big reason our health care system and our social security system are so screwed up? Do you think this might be a big reason our taxes keep going up? Who do you think these people are going to vote for?”

From a Florida ER doctor:

"I live and work in a state overrun with illegals. They make more money having kids than we earn working full-time. Today I had a 25-year old with 8 kids - thats right 8; all illegal anchor babies and she had the nicest nails, cell phone, hand bag, clothing, etc. She makes about $1,500 monthly for each; you do the math. I used to say, We are the dumbest nation on earth. Now I must say and sadly admit: WE are the dumbest people on earth (that includes ME) for we elected the idiot idealogues who have passed the bills that allow this. Sorry, but we need a revolution. Vote them all out in 2010. "

LOS ANGELES – A MEXICAN WELFARE AND CRIME STATE WHERE THE JOBS ALSO GO TO ILLEGALS

*

Medical Writer March 11, 2007 Medical clinics that serve the poor in Florida are being overwhelmed by illegal immigrants and other uninsured women needing prenatal services, creating a looming crisis that already has forced at least one health department to close its doors to pregnant patients. Two groups that serve the poor in Orange County say they are booked to capacity for prenatal services, with women waiting up to five weeks to get an initial appointment at the busiest locations. That's the good news. Mark S. Williams worries that local women may not get care in the future because providers do not have the staff, money or ability to meet the rising need. In Orange County, the number of women seeking prenatal services from these groups has climbed 65 percent since 2002. "We are at our limit; we have to begin to look at how we can just maintain what we have or reduce the number of patients that we see for prenatal care," said Williams, chief executive officer of Community Health Centers Inc. "If the growth in the region continues -- and we have no reason to believe that it won't -- there will be patients who just aren't going to be seen." Counties throughout Central Florida are reporting an increasing demand for prenatal services, but Orange stands out for its sheer volume. Its main providers for poor women are the Orange County Health Department and Community Health Centers, a nonprofit organization that offers a variety of health services. Combined, the agencies treated more than 6,300 pregnant women in 2006, up from about 3,800 in 2002. But doctors say the number of individual women doesn't tell the whole story. Each patient needs ongoing care during her pregnancy, accounting for a combined 36,292 prenatal visits to both agencies in 2006, an 84 percent increase from 19,718 in 2002. The Orange County Health Department, which has a higher patient load, has opened two additional sites for obstetrics care in recent months and is trying to recruit more nurse practitioners. "Almost as soon as we open [a new location], we're fully booked with appointments," said Patricia Nolen, the department's program director for women's health. Yet the problem is not simply the rising numbers -- it's that more patients are uninsured. Many are illegal immigrants, who do not qualify for government coverage for the poor through Medicaid. But there's also a growing number of uninsured U.S. citizens who earn slightly too much to qualify for Medicaid but too little to buy private insurance. As a result, providers are treating more women but getting paid for a smaller proportion of their clients. For example, about 80 percent of the prenatal patients at the Orange County Health Department were covered by Medicaid in the past, leaving about 20 percent who were uninsured. Today, the breakdown is closer to 50-50, said Dr. Kevin Sherin, Health Department director. Statewide, an estimated 650,000 women of childbearing age have no coverage. "There's a significant number of moms who cannot access health insurance for a variety of reasons," Sherin said. This creates crushing budget demands for centers that serve these women. Demand keeps growing Danielle Phillips, 21, is among the thousands of prenatal patients at the Orange County Health Department. She works in a clothing store and didn't have medical insurance when she became pregnant. Phillips now is covered by Medicaid and grateful for the care she receives at a clinic near her home. "I really like it there," she said. "I was surprised at how well they take care of you." It's expensive to provide the services. This fiscal year, the Orange County Health Department expects to bring in about $3 million from a variety of funding sources to cover women's-health expenditures. However, the total cost of the services is expected to run about $3.4 million, creating a $400,000 shortfall. Officials say illegal immigrants are contributing to the crisis because of their growing numbers and lack of insurance because of restrictions on the use of Medicaid for non-U.S. citizens. The Pew Hispanic Center estimates there are about 850,000 illegal immigrants in Florida and about 12 million nationwide. In Florida, these women can get short-term Medicaid coverage for prenatal care while their paperwork is processed, but they quickly drop off the rolls when they do not have valid Social Security numbers and required documentation. As a result, the bulk of their pregnancy care is uncovered. One way to gauge the growing burden in Florida is through the state's "emergency Medicaid deliveries" that cover births by non-U.S. citizens. Many of these emergency patients are undocumented, and state statistics show a fourfold increase in their numbers since 1996. That year, Medicaid paid for 4,556 emergency deliveries at a cost of more than $10 million in state and federal funds. By 2006, the number surged to 20,099 deliveries costing more than $85 million. Turning away patients Illegal immigrants are just part of the prenatal-care picture. The overall population boom in Florida has been straining the system for years, said Ann Davis, immediate past president of the Florida Association of Healthy Start Coalitions. The coalitions are private, nonprofit groups that help poor, pregnant women and their babies throughout the state. Davis said Healthy Start's budget was flat for years, and even with an increase last year, there aren't enough funds. "For years, we did not have any increases, and yet, the fastest-growing segment of our population are young women of child-bearing age," Davis said. "This is not rocket science. There's not going to be enough" money to serve everyone. Many counties are sounding the alarm about the problems they see down the road. In Okaloosa County, the crisis already forced the Health Department to stop offering prenatal care in July. The small county went from an average of 30 to 40 prenatal cases each month to more than 130 a month in recent years. Dr. Karen Chapman, the department director, said her local Healthy Start coalition was providing about $167,000 annually to help pay for prenatal services, but the actual cost was almost four times that much. After covering the shortfall for years, the department couldn't do it anymore. Chapman said poor women now must travel to clinics in other counties or see private doctors willing to put them on payment plans. In the end, she said, some women surely are falling through the cracks. "It was a very painful and difficult and traumatic decision for us," Chapman said, "but even as a government agency, we still have to make payroll and pay our bills. It's just a real tragic situation." A look at solutions In Orange County, advocates for the poor are pushing for a number of changes: The state could increase the income limits for Medicaid eligibility, as other states have done, so more poor women would qualify for coverage, said Linda Sutherland, executive director of the Orange County Healthy Start Coalition. Florida could fund prenatal care for illegal immigrants. Williams said this would be a cost-saver in the long run because women with inadequate prenatal care are more likely to have low-birthweight babies, who often require expensive hospitalizations. Taxpayers end up footing the bill for their care one way or another, he said. "The immigrant issue is a tough one that people aren't going to agree on," Williams said. "I think there are moral issues here, and there's a right thing to do, but you don't even have to feel that way to see that there are also economic issues." Private doctors could bring much-needed manpower to the system. In Brevard County, the Health Department has recruited local obstetricians to work for hourly wages in its clinics. Dr. Heidar Heshmati, department director, said the system is financially viable because the hourly compensation is slightly less than what the department can bring in through Medicaid reimbursements. Until something is done, medical providers expect to grapple regularly with the prenatal-care demands of their communities. More closings are possible. "It's clearly one of the options that [groups] have to keep in mind," said Dr. William Sappenfield, state epidemiologist with the Florida Department of Health. "They do have a limited budget, so they have to figure out how to provide services, and if they spend money in one direction," then less remains for other needs.

OBAMA’S AMERICA: Open & Undefended Borders!

“What we're seeing is our Congress and national leadership dismantling our laws by not enforcing them. Lawlessness becomes the norm, just like Third World corruption. Illegal aliens now have more rights and privileges than Americans. If you are an illegal alien, you can drive a car without a driver's license or insurance. You may obtain medical care without paying. You may work without paying taxes. Your children enjoy free education at the expense of taxpaying Americans.”

But President Obama lit the fuse in February when he signed the massive expansion of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). That law loosened eligibility requirements for legal immigrants and their children by watering down document and evidentiary standards – making it easy for individuals to use fake Social Security cards to apply for benefits with little to no chance of getting caught. In addition, Obama’s S-CHIP expansion revoked Medicaid application time limits that were part of the 1996 welfare reform law. Immigration activists see the provisions as first steps toward universal coverage for illegals.

Mexico's Stubborn Lack of Choices

Oligopolies abound, leaving consumers with few options and high prices. The scarcity of competition is seen as an economic impediment.

By Marla Dickerson

April 16, 2006

MEXICO CITY — When voters tossed out the ruling party in national elections six years ago, they gave a resounding no to a continuation of a 71-year political monopoly."Mexico has been a paradise to create and sustain unhealthy monopoly practices," said Mexico City political scientist Ricardo Raphael, a researcher at the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, who blames weak antitrust legislation and Mexico's long history of crony capitalism for concentrating power in relatively few hands. Economists say business monopolies have saddled Mexican consumers with high prices, slowed the country's economic growth and exacerbated the divide between rich and poor.

*****************************************************************************
Nearly half of Mexico's 106 million people live in poverty. Yet it has more billionaires than Switzerland — 10 last year — according to Forbes magazine's latest list of the world's richest people. Most of them built their fortunes in Mexican industries that have little or no competition.
*****************************************************************************
And the power brokers may only be strengthening their hands these days. Mexico's business barons have been aggressively defending their turf, rivaling the nation's presidential contenders for headlines.  Attempts by Mexico's Federal Competition Commission to put teeth into the nation's antitrust laws have run into a buzz saw of opposition from business leaders. Topping the agency's wish list is having the ability to break up companies whose market power is deemed excessive. It's a standard tool provided to regulators in the United States and other developed economies, but one that doesn't exist in Mexico. Corporate titans here are working furiously behind the scenes to keep it that way. Eduardo Perez Motta, president of the competition commission, vented his frustration at a recent news conference. "It's incredible that these [businessmen] are fighting to maintain their privileges," Motta said. "They don't have the public justification to do it, but that's what they are doing  [using] all manner of sophistry, legal and otherwise."Mexico's oligopolies have their roots in protectionist philosophy that shaped the nation's industrial policy after World War II. The goal was to reduce reliance on imports by building up strong domestic players in key sectors of the economy. Through the years, the PRI-controlled government kept a firm hand in the economy through state-owned companies and chummy relationships with some pro-regime entrepreneurs, who were sheltered from competition. Televisa, for example, functioned for decades as a de facto government mouthpiece in exchange for a virtual monopoly on TV broadcasting. The late Emilio Azcarraga Milmo, who headed the company, once publicly declared himself "a soldier of the president and at the service of the PRI" and reportedly pledged more than $50 million at a party fundraiser to show his gratitude for his company's privileged status. A devastating financial crisis in the 1980s forced Mexico to open itself to more foreign investment and to unload a spate of state-owned firms. But experts say Mexico's privatizations in some respects saddled the nation with the worst of all worlds: Instead of breaking up public enterprises to spark competition, the government simply transferred them to new owners."They replaced public monopolies with private ones," said Celso Garrido, an economist at the Autonomous Metropolitan University in Mexico City. The best known of these transactions was the 1990 sale of state-owned telephone company Telmex to a consortium led by Mexican entrepreneur Carlos Slim, who used the company as a springboard to expand into mobile phone service and telecommunications ventures throughout Latin America. Forbes recently estimated Slim's fortune at $30 billion, making him the world's third-richest man, behind Bill Gates and Warren Buffett. Slim has shown a talent for spotting undervalued assets. But critics say hard-nosed tactics have helped him retain a lock on the lucrative Mexican telecom market. Telmex and America Movil, Slim's cellphone company, last year garnered more than 60% of their combined $31 billion in revenue from Mexican consumers. The office of the U.S. trade representative repeatedly has criticized Telmex's use of Mexico's ponderous legal system to block efforts by Mexican regulators to spur competition. Mexico's central bank governor, Guillermo Ortiz, recently blasted Slim's telecom companies for hampering the nation's competitiveness by charging Mexican businesses and individuals some of the highest rates on the planet. Slim strongly denied Ortiz's assertions and blamed government monopolies and inefficiency for Mexico's woes. It was an unusual and highly publicized spitting match whose U.S. equivalent would see Microsoft Corp. founder Gates exchanging insults with Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke."The banking system mostly serves the interest of big corporations," said Alfredo Coutino, senior economist at West Chester, Pa.-based Moody's Economy.com. Mexico's public monopolies may be even harder to crack. Mexico prefers to export its poor, not uplift them

At this week's summit, failed reforms under Fox should be the issue, not US actions.
By George W. Grayson WILLIAMSBURG, VA.

At the parleys this week with his US and Canadian counterparts in Cancún, Mexican President Vicente Fox will press for more opportunities for his countrymen north of the Rio Grande. Specifically, he will argue for additional visas for Mexicans to enter the United States and Canada, the expansion of guest-worker schemes, and the "regularization" of illegal immigrants who reside throughout the continent. In a recent interview with CNN, the Mexican chief executive excoriated as "undemocratic" the extension of a wall on the US-Mexico border and called for the "orderly, safe, and legal" northbound flow of Mexicans, many of whom come from his home state of Guanajuato. Mexican legislators share Mr. Fox's goals. Silvia Hernández Enriquez, head of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations for North America, recently emphasized that the solution to the "structural phenomenon" of unlawful migration lies not with "walls or militarization" but with "understanding, cooperation, and joint responsibility." Such rhetoric would be more convincing if Mexican officials were making a good faith effort to uplift the 50 percent of their 106 million people who live in poverty. To his credit, Fox's "Opportunities" initiative has improved slightly the plight of the poorest of the poor. Still, neither he nor Mexico's lawmakers have advanced measures that would spur sustained growth, improve the quality of the workforce, curb unemployment, and obviate the flight of Mexicans abroad. Indeed, Mexico's leaders have turned hypocrisy from an art form into an exact science as they shirk their obligations to fellow citizens, while decrying efforts by the US senators and representatives to crack down on illegal immigration at the border and the workplace. What are some examples of this failure of responsibility? · When oil revenues are excluded, Mexico raises the equivalent of only 9 percent of its gross domestic product in taxes - a figure roughly equivalent to that of Haiti and far below the level of major Latin American nations. Not only is Mexico's collection rate ridiculously low, its fiscal regime is riddled with loopholes and exemptions, giving rise to widespread evasion. Congress has rebuffed efforts to reform the system. Insufficient revenues mean that Mexico spends relatively little on two key elements of social mobility: Education commands just 5.3 percent of its GDP and healthcare only 6.10 percent, according to the World Bank's last comparative study. · A venal, "come-back-tomorrow" bureaucracy explains the 58 days it takes to open a business in Mexico compared with three days in Canada, five days in the US, nine days in Jamaica, and 27 days in Chile. Mexico's private sector estimates that 34 percent of the firms in the country made "extra official" payments to functionaries and legislators in 2004. These bribes totaled $11.2 billion and equaled 12 percent of GDP. · Transparency International, a nongovernmental organization, placed Mexico in a tie with Ghana, Panama, Peru, and Turkey for 65th among 158 countries surveyed for corruption. · Economic competition is constrained by the presence of inefficient, overstaffed state oil and electricity monopolies, as well as a small number of private corporations - closely linked to government big shots - that control telecommunications, television, food processing, transportation, construction, and cement. Politicians who talk about, much less propose, trust-busting measures are as rare as a snowfall in the Sonoran Desert. Geography, self-interests, and humanitarian concerns require North America's neighbors to cooperate on myriad issues, not the least of which is immigration. However, Mexico's power brokers have failed to make the difficult decisions necessary to use their nation's bountiful wealth to benefit the masses. Washington and Ottawa have every right to insist that Mexico's pampered elite act responsibly, rather than expecting US and Canadian taxpayers to shoulder burdens Mexico should assume.

SANCTUARY COUNTY LOS ANGELES SPENDS $600 MILLION ON WELFARE FOR ILLEGALS

County Spends $600 Mil On Welfare For Illegal Immigrants

Last Updated: Thu, 03/11/2010 - 3:14pm

For the second consecutive year taxpayers in a single U.S. county will dish out more than half a billion dollars just to cover the welfare and food-stamp costs of illegal immigrants.

Los Angeles County, the nation’s most populous, may be in the midst of a dire financial crisis but somehow there are plenty of funds for illegal aliens. In January alone, anchor babies born to the county’s illegal immigrants collected more than $50 million in welfare benefits. At that rate the cash-strapped county will pay around $600 million this year to provide illegal aliens’ offspring with food stamps and other welfare perks.

The exorbitant figure, revealed this week by a county supervisor, doesn’t even include the enormous cost of educating, medically treating or incarcerating illegal aliens in the sprawling county of about 10 million residents. Los Angeles County annually spends more than $1 billion for those combined services, including $500 million for healthcare and $350 million for public safety.

About a quarter of the county’s welfare and food stamp issuances go to parents who reside in the United States illegally and collect benefits for their anchor babies, according to the figures from the county’s Department of Social Services. In 2009 the tab ran $570 million and this year’s figure is expected to increase by several million dollars.

Illegal immigration continues to have a “catastrophic impact on Los Angeles County taxpayers,” the veteran county supervisor (Michael Antonovich) who revealed the information has said. The former fifth-grade history teacher has repeatedly come under fire from his liberal counterparts for publicizing statistics that confirm the devastation illegal immigration has had on the region. Antonovich, who has served on the board for nearly three decades, represents a portion of the county that is roughly twice the size of Rhode Island and has about 2 million residents.

His district is simply a snippet of a larger crisis. Nationwide, Americans pay around $22 billion annually to provide illegal immigrants with welfare benefits that include food assistance programs such as free school lunches in public schools, food stamps and a nutritional program (known as WIC) for low-income women and their children. Tens of billions more are spent on other social services, medical care, public education and legal costs such as incarceration and public defenders.

Anchor Babies Grab One Quarter of Welfare Dollars in LA Co

The anchor baby scam has proven lucrative for illegal aliens in Los Angeles County, at considerable cost to our own poor and downtrodden legal citizenry.

The numbers show that more than $50 million in CalWORKS benefits and food stamps for January went to children born in the United States whose parents are in the country without documentation. This represents approximately 23 percent of the total benefits under the state welfare and food stamp programs, Antonovich said.

"When you add this to $350 million for public safety and nearly $500 million for health care, the total cost for illegal immigrants to county taxpayers far exceeds $1 billion a year -- not including the millions of dollars for education," Antonovich said.

I love children and I'm all for compassion -- smart, teach-them-to-fish compassion. But when laws, the Constitution, and enforcement allow illegal aliens (the operative word here being "illegal") to insinuate themselves into our nation and bleed us of our precious financial resources, then laws, the Constitution and enforcement need to be changed.

La Raza targets lawmakers who voted against the DREAM Act

By Kimberly Dvorak

La Raza targets lawmakers who voted against the DREAM Act

The National Council of La Raza (NCLA) announced it will begin a new ad campaign targeting those lawmakers who voted against the DREAM Act (Development, Relief, and Education of Alien Minors) during last year’s lame duck Congressional session.

La Raza (the race in Spanish) launched an online and print ad campaign named “We Will Not Forget.”

The campaign will serve as a reminder to voters that Congress members of both parties voted against the DREAM Act and Latino organizations were watching.

The ads will be running in Spanish-language newspapers in some states as well as select online websites in both English and Spanish.

The big red poster is downloadable and includes the pictures of all lawmakers who did not support illegal aliens’ children’s right to amnesty and qualify them for in-state college tuition. La Raza hopes supporters will download the poster and put it on their refrigerator to serve as a daily reminder.

“As we move into the new Congress and work toward advancing important legislation for our community, it’s crucial not to forget what happened in the lame duck session of 2010,” said Laura Vazquez of La Raza. “The ‘DREAM Act’ was an important measure of support for our community and we need to remember who stood with us and who turned their backs on us.”

LaRaza Calls For Boycott Against Free Speech

No surprise here. Pulling the race/hate card again and using political correctness La Raza goes after cable shows reporting on illegal immigration.

"Murguía said she recognized that ultimately the power to change the debate lies with the Hispanic community itself. “Latinos buy products from the advertisers supporting these programs,” she said. “Latinos vote in primaries and in the general election. We have a significant role to play picking winners and losers in both arenas. We need to make it clear to those who embrace hate that they do so at their own economic and political peril.”

Tom Fitton
