Congressional Budget Office: U.S. Population Growth Will Be ‘Entirely’ Driven by Immigration by 2043

(CNSNews.com) - The Congressional Budget Office is predicting in a demographics report it published in July that by 2043 population growth in the United States will be “entirely” driven by net immigration.
“By 2043, deaths exceed births,” says the CBO report, “population growth after that point is driven entirely by net immigration, in CBO’s projections.”
“Over the course of the next decade, immigration accounts for about three-quarters of the overall increase in the size of the population, and the net effects of fertility and mortality account for the remaining quarter,” says the report.

“After 2032, population growth is increasingly driven by net immigration, which accounts for all population growth in 2043 and beyond,” it says.
“Population growth is determined by births, deaths, and net immigration,” says the CBO report. “In CBO’s projections, fertility rates remain low and immigration becomes an increasingly important part of overall population growth.”
According to the CBO’s projections, the number of babies born to American women will continue below the “replacement rate” into the future.
“In CBO’s projections, the total fertility rate falls to 1.60 births per woman in 2021, rises to 1.75 births per woman in 2030, and remains at that value thereafter,” it says. “That rate is below the replacement rate—the fertility rate required for a generation to exactly replace itself in the absence of immigration—of about 2.1 births per woman.”
The CBO projects that the numbers of both legal and illegal immigrants coming to the United States will increase in the coming years.
“CBO develops its projections of net immigration (the number of all people who enter the United States less the number who leave in that year) using three categories: lawful permanent residents (LPRs), who are authorized to work, liable to pay income taxes, and eligible for most federal programs; legal temporary residents (LTRs), whose eligibility for federal programs is limited; and foreign-born people without legal status, who are generally not eligible for federal programs,” explains the CBO report.
“Under current law, annual net immigration to the United States would rise from 950,000 people, on average, in the first decade of the projection period to 1.1 million people, on average, in the third decade, CBO projects,” says the report.
“LPRs, which are the largest category of projected total net flows, rise from 800,000 to 870,000 people per year, on average, from the first decade to the third decade in CBO’s projections,” it says.
“Net flows of foreign-born people without legal status rise from 80,000 people per year, on average, in the first decade to 150,000 people per year in the third decade,” says the report. “CBO projects net flows of LTRs to be 80,000 people per year, on average, throughout the 30-year projection period.”
Joe Biden: ‘Absolutely Bizarre’ to Suggest Limit on U.S. Capacity to Absorb Immigrants
LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Former Vice President Joe Biden campaigned inside a Chinese restaurant on Tuesday evening, telling supporters it was “bizarre” to suggest a limit on immigration to the U.S.
Biden promised to expand immigration to the U.S. if elected president.
“Folks, look — the idea that there’s some limitation on the capacity of anyone who — on the immigrants in this country is absolutely bizarre! It’s absolutely bizarre.”
Biden, speaking to a packed crowd inside the Harbor Palace Seafood Restaurant on the eve of the next Democratic debate, addressed members of the Asian-American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community, urging them to turn out the vote ahead of Saturday’s caucuses.
Last month, the AAPI Victory Fund super PAC endorsed Biden for president, citing his ability to defeat President Donald Trump and his experience working with immigrant communities from South Asia, East Asia and the Pacific generally.
Though the AAPI immigrant community is politically diverse, it has trended Democratic in recent years.
Last year, Breitbart News reported, another local AAPI organization in Las Vegas expressed opposition to President Trump’s proposed merit-based system for legal immigration.
On Tuesday, Biden promised, if elected, to allow family reunification visas.
“We should be able to increase, to three million people, the people who could come for family reunification. Period, period, period, period.”
He called the idea that the U.S. could not “reunite” more families “absolutely bizarre.”
Biden also reminded his audience that Latinos were not the only beneficiaries of President Barack Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which applied to those brought to the country illegally as children.
He said there were “thousands and thousands of AAPI ‘Dreamers'” who had benefited from DACA as well.
Afterwards, Biden greeted attendees, some of whom proceeded to the Chinatown Mall to cast early votes before the polling place there closed.
Biden hopes to finish in the top three in Nevada, and to win South Carolina on Feb. 29, to make the case that he is still a top contender for his party’s nomination. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) now leads national polls, as well as Nevada polls.

Nearly 5 Million Illegal Immigrants Crossed Border During Biden Administration
A whopping 4.9 million illegal immigrants have crossed our border since Biden has taken office, a report from the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) found.
The president of FAIR Dan Stein discussed the report, stating that “Roughly the equivalent of the entire population of Ireland has illegally entered the United States in the 18 months President Biden has been in office, with many being released into American communities.”
He continued, saying “In that time, the Biden administration has blamed an unprecedented surge of illegal immigration on all sorts of external factors, except their own sabotage of our nation’s immigration laws.”
The nearly 5 million illegal immigrants who have entered our country since Biden took office includes nearly 200,000 that crossed the border in July of 2022.
With 199,976 illegal immigrants entering in July, the figure marks a whopping 325 percent increase over the average number of July apprehensions across former President Trump’s four years in office. Of the 199,976 illegal immigrants, 134,362, or 67 percent, were single adults.
There were also 10 individuals on the terror watch list who were stopped on our southern border last month.
Perhaps even more startling, July is the 17th straight month in which border patrol has had 150,000 encounters or more. In addition, 2,071 pounds of fentanyl, the equivalent of 469 million lethal doses, and 12,989 pounds of methamphetamine were seized at the southern border in July alone.
Thomas Homan, the former Acting Director of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for the Trump Administration, joined Alex Marlow on Breitbart News Daily on Sirius XM to discuss the border crisis.
He said that the number of illegal immigrants entering our country under Biden “blows every other record out of the water” despite the fact that the Trump Administration “handed this administration the most secure border we’ve ever had.”
FAIR president Dan Stein also criticized the Biden Administration, saying “The endless flow of illegal aliens and the incursion of lethal narcotics pouring across our border will not end until this administration demonstrates a willingness to enforce our laws.”

Central bankers and leading economic officials from around the world have forcefully aligned themselves behind the declaration of war against the working class delivered by US Fed chair Jerome Powell to the Jackson Hole conclave at the end of last week.

In a blunt address of just nine minutes, Powell made clear there would be no letup in the Fed’s interest rate hikes, inducing a recession if that proves necessary, to batter down the push by workers for higher wages to compensate for the daily cuts in their living standards resulting from the highest inflation in four decades.
Powell said that as a result of the Fed’s policies there would be slower growth and softer labour market conditions which would “bring some pain to households and businesses.”
It was significant that in his very short address Powell made two references to former Fed chair Paul Volcker, appointed to the position by Democrat president Jimmy Carter in 1979, who imposed record interest rates in the 1980s as part of the war conducted against the working class under the Reagan administration.
Volcker’s measures produced economic devastation in the US as whole sections of industry were shut down and unemployment rose to its highest levels since the Great Depression of the 1930s, leaving effects still being felt today. It also produced similar conditions internationally, particularly in Latin America, as other governments joined the offensive.
Four decades on, the rot and decay of the capitalist economy has developed in leaps and bounds and the representatives of finance capital are prepared to go even further if they consider it necessary.
This was made clear in keenly awaited remarks by Isabel Schnabel, an executive board member of the European Central Bank (ECB) to the conclave on Saturday. She said there was a risk inflation was racing out of control and even greater “sacrifice” would be needed.
“Central banks are likely to face a higher sacrifice ratio compared with the 1980s, even if prices were to respond more strongly to changes in domestic economic conditions, as the globalisation of inflation makes it more difficult for central banks to control prices pressures,” she said.
Schnabel pointed to the key issue exercising the minds of the central bankers and other officials – the need to suppress wage demands, no matter what the cost.
“Both the likelihood and the cost of current high inflation becoming entrenched in expectations are uncomfortably high,” she said. “In this environment, central banks need to act forcefully.”
Expectations of inflation becoming “entrenched” is code in central bank language for workers pushing for wage increases in the belief—confirmed in their daily experience—that cost-of-living pressures will increase even further.
Schnabel also pointed to the longer-term risks to the stability of the international monetary market which, for the past 50 years since President Nixon withdrew the gold backing from the US dollar, has not been backed by a store of value.
Central banks, she said, “need to lean with determination against the risk of people starting to doubt the long-term stability of our fiat currencies.”
The head of the French central bank, François Villeroy de Galhau, was not as strident but his remarks carried the same message. He said there should be “no doubt” about the ECB’s willingness to raise interest rates above the neutral rate, a level that neither promotes or constrains growth, and that “our will and our capacity to deliver on our mandate are unconditional.”
This is a forecast of significant rate rises because the inflation rate for August in the eurozone is expected to reach 9 percent—well above the bank’s target of around 2 percent—when the latest figures are issued later this week.
The president of the Swiss National Bank Thomas Jordan warned inflation was not a passing phenomenon and could persist for years to come because of structural factors in the economy, amid signs it was becoming broad based.
“There are signs that inflation is increasingly spreading to goods and services that are not directly affected by the pandemic or the war in Ukraine,” he said.
The Bank of Korea governor Rhee Chang-yong drew attention to the inflationary problems caused by the rise in the US dollar produced by the Fed’s monetary tightening. In Korea, as in many other countries, the dollar’s rise and the fall in the value of the domestic currency mean that the prices of imports—in particular energy and other essential commodities—increase. Inflation is thus imported.
“We are now independent from government, but we are not independent from the Fed,” he said in an interview with Reuters.
“So if the Fed continues to increase the interest rate it will have a depreciation pressure for our currency.”
Another significant contribution to the discussion was by Gita Gopinath, the first managing director of the International Monetary Fund, after previously serving as its chief economist. Perhaps inadvertently, she let the cat out of the bag as to the responsibility of governments and central banks for the inflation now ripping through the global economy.
Gopinath said “existing models” could not explain the inflation surge, in particular the so-called Phillips curve, developed in the 1950s, which purports to show that inflation is linked to wage rises, as present inflation was not being led by wages.
She said high inflation was due to the stimulus provided by governments as a result of COVID – the massive amounts of money handed out by governments to corporations. She did not mention it, but could well have cited, the trillions of dollars pumped into the financial system by the world’s major central banks as another key factor.
At the same time there was also “a contraction in potential output and employment.”
While Gopinath did not fully elaborate, her remarks pointed to the essential causes of the inflation crisis which reside in the response of governments and financial authorities to the COVID pandemic.
When the pandemic struck, governments around the world did not take decisive public health measures lest this cause a crisis on the stock markets. Instead, they pursued limited mitigation measures at best while funnelling money into the financial system – the Fed alone poured in more than $4 trillion – after markets froze in March 2020.
And their refusal to take action to eliminate COVID, as they scrapped even limited measures and adopted the “let it rip agenda,” led to major problems in supply chains and a contraction in the labour force which has now sparked an inflationary spiral, exacerbated by the US-led proxy war against Russia in Ukraine.
Having created the conditions for what amounts to a breakdown of the global economy, exemplified most sharply in the escalation of inflation, the policy of the central banks is to make the working class pay for it through the slashing of real wages, the intensification of exploitation enforced through a recession-inducing high interest rate regime. This is the program agreed on at the Jackson Hole meeting.

In his speech Friday at the Federal Reserve’s annual summit in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell made one thing clear: America’s financial oligarchy is determined to make the working class bear the cost of the deepening economic crisis.
Speaking more bluntly than he has previously, Powell pledged that the US central bank would sustain higher interest rates in the name of fighting inflation, with increased unemployment and economic “pain” to be expected as the consequences. The Fed is widely anticipated to again raise rates by 0.5 to 0.75 percentage points in September.
“Reducing inflation is likely to require a sustained period of below-trend growth,” Powell said. “Moreover, there will very likely be some softening of labor market conditions. While higher interest rates, slower growth, and softer labor market conditions will bring down inflation, they will also bring some pain to households and businesses.”
Behind the Fed chair’s grey-hued euphemisms stands a ruthless class policy. With “softening of labor market conditions,” Powell is describing a deliberate jobs bloodbath, in which higher rates will encourage mass layoffs and the inevitable calamity this entails for workers and their families. It will mean staggering rises in poverty, hunger, substance abuse, foreclosures, homelessness and suicides, under conditions of an already acute social crisis.
There can be no doubt that the target of the “pain” Powell is referring to is the working class.
Powell bemoaned a so-called “out of balance” labor market and outsized demand for workers, saying, “The labor market is particularly strong, but it is clearly out of balance, with demand for workers substantially exceeding the supply of available workers.”
This cynical argument—that a labor shortage and overly large wage increases are the primary drivers of inflation—defies the most basic economic logic. If the cause of high inflation in the United States were wage increases, then workers’ wages would be rising at a level comparable to, or higher than, the level of inflation.
Workers’ pay has risen in nominal terms far below the rate of inflation, resulting in a 3 percent decline in real wages over the course of the past year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, falling as much as 5 percent in some states.
The labor shortage itself is in large part the consequence of the ruling class’ catastrophic response to the COVID-19 pandemic, in which mass infection has been ever more deliberately enforced in the short-term pursuit of profit. As many as 4.1 million Americans have left the labor force and are unable to work due to the debilitating impact of Long COVID, according to an analysis by the Brookings Institution released this week. The US Census Bureau has estimated that as many as 16 million people in the US are suffering from Long COVID.
In reality, corporate price gouging, not wage growth, has been the primary factor driving inflation, an April study by the Economic Policy Institute found. Meanwhile, corporate profits continue to set record after record.
Profit margins at non-financial corporations have hit a 72-year high, according to data released Thursday by the US Commerce Department, reaching 15.5 percent for the first time since 1950. Profits increased 8.1 percent over the past year, even after accounting for higher capital stock replacement costs from inflation.
The oil and gas giants have been in the forefront of this bonanza, with the five largest companies taking in $55 billion in profits during the second quarter of 2022 alone, as they profiteer from the US-instigated proxy war against Russia in Ukraine. The intent of US imperialism and its allies is to make the working class pay for their predatory wars abroad. In the UK, energy prices are set to rise 80 percent this fall, to £3,549 a year, roughly $4,200, and to as high as £6,600 in the spring, with catastrophic implications for working families.
The pro-corporate trade unions, for their part, have been working around the clock to impose the demands of the companies for below-inflation raises, higher health care costs and longer hours. Earlier this year, United Steelworkers President Thomas Conway boasted of a “responsible” contract the union coerced oil and gas workers into accepting, lauding it for not adding to “inflationary pressures,” parroting the lying claim that wage increases are driving higher prices.
Already, the Fed’s rate increases are beginning to have their intended effect, triggering a wave of mass layoffs, including 38,000 in the technology sector through mid-August. Job cuts are now spreading more widely throughout the economy. Hospitals and health care systems are increasingly slashing positions and reducing services, Kaiser Health News reported Friday, despite the health care chains receiving massive bailouts to the tune of billions of dollars during the pandemic.
Layoffs are beginning to accelerate even as many sections of the economy are already threatened with disaster and virtual collapse due to understaffing and brutally long hours, as in the health care industry and the railroads.
In his speech, Powell alluded repeatedly to former Fed Chair Paul Volcker, whom he has previously presented as his intellectual North Star. Appointed by Democratic President Jimmy Carter and retained by Republican President Ronald Reagan, Volcker oversaw a program of economic “shock therapy” in the late 1970s and early 1980s, raising interest rates to double-digit levels in order to induce mass unemployment and break the back of the militant workers’ struggles that had dominated the preceding decade. “The standard of living of the average American worker has to decline,” Volcker declared in 1982.
In the present, workers are being told by the Biden administration, the political establishment and the corporate and financial elite that they must sacrifice—and accept a lower standard of living—in the name of the “national interest” and the struggle against supposed “Russian aggression.”
But history shows again and again that the demand for “shared sacrifice” by the ruling class and its representatives is nothing but a swindle, aimed at enriching the financial oligarchy at the expense of the working class and increasing its exploitation.
The response to the ruling class policy of austerity and war must be a conscious political program representing the interests of the working class, unifying the struggles of workers in every section of industry and across national boundaries. This year has already seen an eruption of class struggle internationally, drawing in ever-larger layers, from manufacturing workers to dockworkers and truckers, pilots and flight attendants, nurses and educators, among others.
The broad support for the campaign of Will Lehman for international president of the United Auto Workers shows the enormous potential for this developing movement in the working class to find a progressive outlet. Lehman, a Mack Trucks worker and socialist, has explained that he is running in the UAW elections in order to organize a rank-and-file movement from below and take power back from the union bureaucracy.
The emerging struggles of workers against the soaring cost of living and the impact of the capitalist crisis must take up the socialist and internationalist perspective Lehman is advocating so that the needs and interests of workers—not the financial oligarchy—determine how society’s resources are organized.
Exclusive—Republican J.D. Vance: Elites like Democrat Tim Ryan Benefit by Destroying American Jobs, Shipping Them to China
J.D. Vance, the Trump-backed Republican nominee for Ohio’s U.S. Senate seat, told Breitbart News Saturday the Democrat leadership in the country “has benefited from the destruction of what made the country great in the first place.”
Vance, on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Saturday this weekend, said that it is a “pretty simple argument” that the current leadership in the county benefit from destroying the country while there has been an increase in inflation, a rise in gas prices, an open border, defunding the police, and shipping American jobs to China.
“If you’re a working-class guy in Ohio, you didn’t benefit when they shipped the factories to China, but a lot of American leadership did,” Vance explained. “If you are a suburban mom and just wants to send your kids to school in a safe environment, you did not benefit when [the Democrats] attacked the police and let out a bunch of criminals. But if you’ve got a private security force, you benefit from that just fine.”
Vance’s argument stems from jobs being shipped overseas to China and the Democrats’ continued push for defunding the police since 2020.
The Buckeye State Republican noted that his opponent, Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH), has voted with President Joe Biden 100 percent of the time and has stood by while he enacts radical policies without showing any leadership for himself.
“If you have lost a kid or somebody else to the fentanyl that’s coming across the American Southern Border, you’ve gotten screwed by Joe Biden and Tim Ryan’s open border policies,” Vance described as part of the problem. “But let’s be honest, there are a few powerful people who have really benefited from the influx of new labor and new Democratic voters.”
Ryan — the 20-year career politician who had a failed 2020 presidential run to become a Biden surrogate later— has voted with Biden 100 percent of the time in Congress while he has been the president, according to FiveThirtyEight, which keeps a “tally of how often every member of the House and the Senate votes with or against the president.” Ryan never voted against him.
Additionally, the Democrat also voted with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi 100 percent of the time during his time in the House, and according to ProPublica, he has voted with the Speaker not just in the current Congress but also in the last Congress.
Vance added that the “really simple” and “basic argument” to “stop this craziness” from the Democrats is to “go back to policies that make some sense.”
He explained, “Let’s support our police officers, throw the bad guys in jail. Let’s close the border. Let’s stop shipping our jobs to China. And let’s bring some basic sanity back to American public schools in American public life.”
The Buckeye State Republican noted “most people” support these policies, “which is why I think [Republicans are] gonna win and win big in November.”
Last week, in the first poll since the unprecedented Mar-a-Lago raid, Emerson College Polling showed that Vance and Republicans had overtaken Democrats in the Buckeye State. Vance led Ryan by three points, 45 percent to 42 percent.
In fact, when the voters were asked, “regardless of whom they support, which candidate they expect to win,” a majority of the respondents (52 percent) said Vance would win, compared to the 48 percent who said Ryan.
Additionally, a Trafalgar Group poll released this week showed that Vance also led Ryan by five points, 50 percent to 45 percent. The polls coming out a week apart spell trouble for Ryan, as both show Vance beating him.

The number of manufacturing jobs that have been reshored to the United States is at a “record high” as concerns swirl over supply chain dependency on China, a new research report details.
The report, published by the Reshoring Initiative, reveals that a record number of American manufacturing jobs have been brought home after being offshored and outsourced to foreign countries over the last two decades when China entered the World Trade Organization (WTO).
“In 2021 the private and federal push for domestic supply of essential goods propelled reshoring and foreign direct investment (FDI) job announcements to a record high,” the report states.
In 2022, the report projects that about 350,000 American jobs are expected to be reshored to the U.S. labor market — another record after 2021 set a record when 260,000 American jobs were brought home.
“If the projection is achieved, 2022 will bring the total jobs announced since 2010 to over 1.6 million,” the report continues.

Researchers suggest that reshoring of American jobs from overseas has trickled slowly since 2010 but has taken off in recent years because of a number of factors, including federal support for domestic manufacturing, supply chain woes from the Chinese coronavirus, tariffs, and the increase in shipping costs:

A similar recent analysis by Bloomberg showed that former President Trump’s hyper-focus on American manufacturing, mostly via billions worth of tariffs, helped spur an industry boom.
The number of American jobs being reshored, though at a record high, pales in comparison to the number of American jobs that have been eliminated as a result of decades-long free trade policy governing the economic consensus in Washington, DC.
From 2001 to 2018, U.S. free trade with China eliminated 3.7 million American jobs from the economy — 2.8 million of which were lost in American manufacturing. During that same period, at least 50,000 American manufacturing plants closed down.
Those massive job losses have coincided with a booming U.S.-China trade deficit. In 1985, before China entered the WTO, the U.S. trade deficit with China totaled $6 billion. In 2019, the U.S. trade deficit with China totaled more than $345 billion.
Meanwhile, a study from 2019 found that permanent U.S. tariffs of 25 percent on all Chinese imports would create more than a million American jobs in five years. American manufacturing is vital to the U.S. economy, as every manufacturing job supports an additional 7.4 American jobs in other industries.

Texas Border Judge Sets $5k Bond on Politically Connected Mexican Woman Caught with Guns, Cash
A Texas border judge appears to have set a $5,000 bond on a woman from Mexico who is facing money laundering charges. Authorities stopped the woman from trying to cross to Mexico with $250,000 and two handguns.
Court records filed in Webb county revealed that authorities booked 28-year-old Yeishi Moriya Villasenor on August 23 into a local jail. At that time, Moriya went before local county magistrate Leticia Martinez who formally charged her with one count of money laundering and set her bond at $5,000. Records also revealed that Moriya was released on August 25 after a local bail bondsman posted her bond.
The case began on Monday at the Juarez-Lincoln bridge in the border city of Laredo, Texas, when a woman driving a 2022 Volkswagen Jetta approached to enter Mexico, a statement from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) revealed.
A CBP officer sent the woman to a secondary inspection where authorities brought a police dog that led them to several bundles of cash, a 45 caliber handgun, and a 9mm handgun. According to CBP, the Webb County Sheriff’s Office filed state charges against Moriya and Homeland Security Investigations is also investigating the case. It remains unclear if federal authorities would be charging the Moriya in the future. According to the Laredo Morning Times, Moriya was going to receive $3,000 to move the money from Dallas to her home state of Michoacan.
The case sparked controversy in Mexico since Moriya is the daughter of Artemio Moriya, the mayor of the city of Tacambaro, Michoacan, and a member of the country’s ruling party MORENA. Numerous Facebook posts from Yeishi Moriya show her promoting her father’s political career.
The MORENA party was founded by Mexico’s President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO) who has been previously quoted as claiming that the war on drugs is over. The Mexican president promotes a non-violent approach against drug cartels that led to the phrase “abrazos no balazos or hugs, not bullets.” This approach led to much criticism of AMLO and MORENA and accusations that the party is favoring certain criminal organizations.
On Friday evening, several days after Yeishi’s arrest, Artemio Moriya issued a video statement where he confirmed the arrest of his daughter. The politician claimed that at the time of the arrest, Yeishi was with her husband and two children. After his daughter’s release from jail, the family was going to travel back along with the politician’s wife but he lost communication with them and has not heard from them. The politician did not make any statements about the cash and weapons that US authorities seized from his daughter.
