Michigan Poll: Biden Lags Behind Trump Ahead of 2024
President Joe Biden is trailing behind former President Donald Trump with likely voters in Michigan less than a year out from the 2024 election.
Forty-one percent of 600 likely voters polled in the Great Lakes State support Biden compared to 46 percent who support Trump, an EPIC-MRA of Lansing poll released Saturday found. The margin of error is ±4 percentage points.

“Democrats ought to be aware there is a growing possibility that Donald Trump may become president again,” EPIC-MRA pollster Bernie Porn told the Detroit Free Press. He said support for Biden in the state has eroded since the firm’s last poll in August, when Biden narrowly led Trump 46 percent to 45 percent.
“I think it’s his (Biden’s) age and comparative perceptions of him versus Trump,” Porn said. “People are dismissing the Bidenomics approach — they’re not impressed with that messaging … It could well be very difficult for Biden to do the things needed to recover.”
The poll found eroding support for Biden in key voting blocs. For instance, while Democrats push abortion as a key issue, the survey found 28 percent of voters who identify as “pro-choice” support Trump, compared to 58 percent for Biden.
The survey also indicated a substantial drop in black voters’ support of Biden. In 2020, exit polls showed 92 percent of black voters in the state voted for Biden, while 7 percent voted for Trump. The new poll shows just 62 percent of black likely voters support Biden, and 17 percent support Trump. Twenty-one percent of black likely voters are undecided.
Trump also leads Biden among independent voters, the poll found. While 38 percent of independent voters are undecided, 45 percent support Trump and 18 support Biden.

“And among the relatively small number of union members contacted for the survey, 47 percent supported Trump, compared to 40 percent for Biden and 13 percent undecided, despite the fact that Biden this fall became the first president to walk a picket line as the UAW struck the Detroit Three automakers for better wages and benefits,” the Free Press reported.
Trump is leading Biden among all age groups except voters over 65, 46 percent to 37 percent with 17 percent undecided. The survey found that 48 percent of likely Michigan voters ages 18 to 34 support Trump over Biden (35 percent). Voters ages 35 to 49 support Trump 46 percent and Biden 39 percent, and 54 percent of voters ages 50 to 64 support Trump, compared to 34 percent who support Biden.
“Biden retained a marked edge among college-educated voters, 49 percent to 37 percent with 13 percent undecided. But that’s well below the 17-point margin he had with those voters in the 2020 election,” according to the report. “Trump led among the larger cohort of voters without a college education 52 percent to 35 percent with 13 percent undecided. In 2020, Trump only had a five-point edge with those voters.”
NBC’s Kornacki: Biden’s Job Approval Is ‘Lowest’ Ever Measured in Our Poll
NBC News national political correspondent Steve Kornacki said Sunday on “Meet The Press” that the results of the latest NBC News poll show President Joe Biden’s lowest-ever approval rating.

KRISTEN WELKER: As the war between Israel and Hamas rages, it is having a transformative impact on our politics. We have a brand new NBC News poll out this morning, which shows the toll it is taking on the president.
KORNACKI: I think you’re right to set it up that way. What’s happening in the Middle East really does seem to be connecting with what’s happening domestically in our politics. Let’s start with the bottom line here. President Biden, what is his job approval rating? We measure it now at 40%, with 57% disapproving.
The significance is that is the lowest President Biden has ever measured in our poll in terms of job approval. Just look at the sea change from the start of this year. Recall, remember, Democrats coming off strong from the 2020 midterms, he was almost even. Now he’s 17 points underwater.
If you look by party, it’s significant for two reasons. One, independents, obviously, more than two to one disapprove. You don’t want to be there as an incumbent president. But equally significant, no surprise, 7% of Republicans approve of Joe Biden’s job performance, but three times as many Democrats, 21%, more than one in five, say they disapprove.
You need much more unified support in your own party than if you’ll have a successful re-election campaign. We mentioned the drop in that approval rating and the connection of the Middle East. Here it is: on foreign policy, 33% approve of Joe Biden’s job performance. Just in September, we asked the same question, and it was 41-53.
WELKER: These numbers surprised our own pollsters with one saying he cannot remember a time when a foreign entanglement that didn’t involve U.S. troops had the power to transform the electorate, and that’s not the case in this poll.
KORNACKI: To go a step further, this jumps out at you, too. Overall, this is the handling of the Israel-Hamas war. It kind of measures overall with Biden’s foreign policy approval, but look at this. Among the oldest group of voters, 65+, there’s a majority that approve how Biden is handling this, that’s +12. Look at the youngest group of voters: 20 approve, 70% disapprove — he’s 50% underwater with the youngest voters. That’s a 62-point net swing between youngest and oldest on this topic of Israel and Hamas.
We are showing you Biden’s problems here, and the question is, who will the Republicans nominate to oppose him? Donald Trump towering above the field here. Two others in double digits. Compare this to the last poll, and Trump is steady, and the only growth here is right there, Nikki Haley. She grew last time. She grew a little bit more this time into double digits.
WELKER: Those numbers are fueled by non-trump voters. I’ve been talking to sources inside the Trump World who say they’re not panicking because of that, but it’s clear she has real momentum here.
KORNAKCI: If you look at voters who call themselves conservative or very conservative, they’re very pro-Trump. They seem a little reluctant, a little resistant to her [Nikki Haley] and she has to breakthrough not just with moderates and independents. She’s got to break through with core Republican voters who like Donald Trump if she wants to make this a real game with Trump. So, if we are heading toward Trump-Biden, a re-match in 2024, how does that look in the polling right now? Here it is. Donald Trump, we have at 46%, Biden, 44%.
WELKER: This is significant because this is the first time in the history of our poll that former President Trump beats President Biden, still within the margin of error, but still significant.
KORNACKI: In 2019 and 2020, when Trump was president, he trailed all of them. This year, he trailed all of them in our poll. This is the first time in more than a dozen polls we’ve seen a result like this. Some of the other ingredients that go into this, Biden has long had an advantage over Trump on likability.
At the start of the year, 39% had a positive view of Biden and barely 30% of Trump. Now, the gap is gone. 36% positive on both, and actually Biden, one point more negative than Trump. That’s been a significant advantage. That advantage, for now, may be gone. And we talked about younger voters on foreign policy, and it’s true on a host of other topics, disaffected with Joe Biden. We have 46% for Trump 42% for Biden among the youngest [18-34] voters. The youngest voters in the 2020 election were Biden +26. This could be a massive sea change. If you take a look here, too, everybody sort of says, “I’m not too nuts about the possibility of this matchup.” So we said, let’s measure this one way and here’s how we did it.
Biden against an unnamed Republican, and this is a referendum on Biden. Look at this: he goes from being in a dogfight with Trump to double digits behind. But flip it around. Trump against an unnamed Democrat, and Trump goes from leading against Biden to down six points to the Democrat.

The Biden Clan’s Con is Coming to an End

Despite years of Biden family and media disinformation, we are finally learning that President Joe Biden really did fire Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin for looking into state corruption involving the oil company Burisma and Hunter Biden — and ultimately Joe Biden himself.
As vice president, Biden, in his own words, bragged that he had threatened to cancel the deliverance of American foreign aid to Ukraine unless Shokin was dismissed.
So what is Congress to do now — un-impeach and exonerate an innocent impeached Donald Trump, and instead impeach a guilty Biden for essentially the same allegations?
After all, the Left redefined the impeachment bar in 2019 as leveraging foreign aid to Ukraine to benefit one’s political career.
And that is exactly what Joe Biden did to ensure his son could continue to raise millions for the Biden family with foreign governments, while being shielded from political consequences.
An impeached Trump also was accused of using the power of government to go after his likely 2020 presidential rival by suggesting that Joe Biden and his family were corrupt, and should be investigated by Ukrainian officials for fraud and bribery.
Despite Joe Biden’s denials, Trump was right: there was plenty of evidence to link Ukrainian unwarranted payoffs going into Biden family coffers.
So Trump in 2019 had good reasons to ensure that none of the Bidens were still burrowed deeply into the Ukrainian payoff machine.
In contrast, Biden had far less grounds to unleash the full powers of government against his probable 2024 rival ex-president Trump.
Special Prosecutor Jack Smith is not charging Trump with bribery of the Biden sort. He does not allege that Trump gave special foreign policy preferences for those foreigners who paid his family for such services.
Instead, Smith argues that Trump unlawfully took out classified presidential papers –although Joe Biden did nearly the same.
Biden kept quiet about his vast removal of classified documents for over a decade. Not until Trump was being investigated did Biden suddenly notify the government of his illegal removals.
In contrast, a combative and boisterous Trump fought openly and constantly with federal archivists over which of his papers at his Mar-a-Lago estate were truly classified.
Prosecutorial leaks floated all sorts of unproven nefarious agendas that had prompted Trump’s disputes over his presidential papers.
But no one to this day has seriously asked why senator and then Vice President Biden secretly and weirdly removed and kept such sensitive material for years.
Recent reports allege that Hunter Biden may have been treated with kid gloves by prosecutors, partly because Hunter’s lawyers had threatened otherwise to call Joe Biden to the stand as a favorable witness.
Government prosecutors under pressure from the White House apparently balked at the nightmare of a befuddled president of the United States testifying under oath about the supposed innocence of the very guilty Hunter Biden.
In truth, the former drug addict Hunter has played lots of such strange games with his own family.
In his laptop communications, Hunter whined that no one in the family appreciated his hard work at family grifting.
He sounded petulant that his father forced him to fork over half his income to the Joe and Jill Biden household.
At time of universal scrutiny of Hunter, the last thing any sane first son might do would be to hawk his own childish paintings at exorbitant prices to those wishing to buy influence with his father the president.
In effect, Hunter was almost daring the White House to stop his blatant grifting artistry.
Instead, the Bidens moved Hunter into the White House, apparently to keep him under closer watch.
Hunter is still out of control. He could take the family down with him unless President Biden continues to shield him from prosecution.
Ironically, the double standard used by Biden and the media to hound Trump has only raised new questions of fairness.
Why had the Biden family — with its far greater legal exposure — never faced such serial indictments?
A Republican House of Representatives had ended prior Democratic protection given to the Bidens.
And the Ukraine war has again turned attention to the Biden-Burisma connection and Hunter’s shaking down of Ukrainian officials.
Finally, Joe Biden can no longer work a full day. He mutters. He stumbles. He serially lies.
He hijacks solemn occasions commemorating national tragedies by trying to one up the grieving with his own self-absorbed stories — most of them irrelevant and narcissistic half-truths.
If a cognitively and criminally challenged Biden cannot finish his term, we will finally learn the full story of 15 years of Biden family corruption. The Bidens will lose the only impediment — Joe Biden’s political machinations — left in the way of an honest, full-blown felony investigation into what is likely the most corrupt presidential family in American history.
Report: Hunter Biden Tax Probe Appears Active in California with James Biden Subpoena
Special Counsel David Weiss appears focused on investigating Hunter Biden for tax violations in California with subpoenas issued for James Biden via a Los Angeles grand jury.
People familiar with the probe told CNN:
- James Biden and a former associate of Hunter Biden are “among the individuals ” who received a subpoena in recent weeks.
- It is unclear “if investigators are looking at anything beyond tax matters,” such as Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) violations.
- It is unclear if any witnesses appeared in person before the grand jury.
The reported launch of a Los Angeles grand jury raises a question of timing. The probe into Hunter Biden began five years ago. The report also confirms Weiss’s previous statements that his probe remained ongoing.
Weiss said in July during Hunter Biden’s “sweetheart” plea deal hearing that he would not rule out potentially charging Hunter Biden for tax and FARA violations. The defunct plea bargain would have afforded the president’s son an opportunity to plead guilty for not paying taxes on more than $1.5 million in income in 2017 and 2018, giving probation rather than jail time.
Weiss later indicted Hunter Biden on three gun violations.
IRS whistleblowers contend the president’s Justice Department twice prevented Weiss from bringing stronger charges against Hunter Biden in separate jurisdictions and that political influence impacted the investigation. In June, the New York Times confirmed that the DOJ prevented Weiss from bringing charges against Hunter in D.C. and California.

Lawmakers said Weiss refused to answer many questions about the probe behind closed doors on Capital Hill in October. This included questioning an incident involving U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada of California, who told Congress he did not want to partner with Weiss to investigate Hunter Biden in his district.
Weiss maintained that “[at] no time was I blocked, or otherwise prevented from pursuing charges or taking the steps necessary in the investigation by other United States Attorneys, the Tax Division or anyone else at the Department of Justice.”
Republicans remain unconvinced.
“The important thing is that he has no answers for why he would offer a misdemeanor plea bargain with no jail time to someone who committed felonies and exclude all unknown or yet-to-be-investigated crimes,” Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) said. “It’s that lack of explanation that leads us to all the other questions of whether he was influenced by others or in consultation with others.”
