New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) is begging his wealthy neighbors to help foot the bill, the New York Post reported Friday, as costs regarding migrants climb.

“This is a moment where it’s an all hands on deck moment,” he said during a Police Athletic League event, according to the Post.

The report continued:

“The way it goes, New York goes America goes, but I’m going to need you more than ever to support many of these organizations like PAL, Robin Hood Foundation, and others,” the mayor told the crowd, which included Tony Danza, John Catsimatidis and Mitchell Modell, the former CEO of the sporting goods chain.

“A moment where our philanthropic interests must align with some of the gaps and services that we are seeing today,” the mayor continued.

Adams recently told residents he has to cut spending on New Yorkers because city law prioritizes funding for economic migrants, according to Breitbart News.

The outlet highlighted the fact that President Joe Biden’s (D) migration has placed over 100,000 migrants in New York, the article continued:

The city’s laws and lobby groups ensure that the migrants get shelter and food costing up to $400 per day, forcing the taxpayer costs above $12 billion.

Those costs are being paid by diverting funds from programs for ordinary Americans, such as policing and schools.

But New York Democrats refuse to change the laws or raise taxes — and instead insist that U.S. taxpayers from outside New York pay the bills while the city’s insiders pocket the profits from illegal migration.

New York City is shelling out nearly $400 a night per migrant family, Breitbart News reported September 23, noting some of those migrants are raking in $3,000 a month by working illegally.

Social media users commented on the recent Post article, one person writing, “Sanctuary city, baby!!”

“This is adorable. How’s that sanctuary city thing working out for you mayor?” another user commented.

NY Times: Yeah, OK, Wages Do Rise When Migration Falls

Vermont families are earning higher wages because migrants are not going to the northern state, says a New York Times article.

The lack of migrants pressures local CEOs to raise their existing workers’ output — and so the CEOs are raising productivity with new machines, training, and worksite reforms, the newspaper reported.

“At Burlington Bagel Bakery, a sign in the window advertises wages starting at $25 an hour,” says the lede paragraph in the November 12 article, which then lists ways in which CEOs help employees produce more wealth every hour:

[Central Vermont Medical Center] has teamed up with two local colleges on a program enabling hospital employees to train as nurses while working full time … Lake Champlain Chocolates, a high-end chocolate maker outside Burlington, has revamped its production schedule to reduce its reliance on seasonal help … New equipment [at Cabot Creamery] will package cheese slices automatically.

The link between wages and migration is routinely denied by pro-migration advocates who are paid by the investors who fully recognize their payoff from migration.

Many investors, banks, and CEOs prefer low-cost, low-wage immigration because it helps them create profits from low-productivity companies and their associated workforce of apartment-sharing, rental-spiking renters, and welfare-aided consumers.

“A Trumpian war on immigrants would … be an economic disaster,” said a November 13 article by Paul Krugman, an op-ed columnist at the New York Times:

Now, you might worry that less-educated immigrants will push down wages at the bottom, increasing income inequality. But the bottom line from decades of research on this topic is that this doesn’t seem to happen.

Back in low-migration Vermont, “employers are fighting over scarce workers, offering wage increases, signing bonuses and child care subsidies, alongside enticements such as free ski passes,” according to the November 12 New York Times article. For example, Cabot Creamery is recruiting employees with offers of “a defined-benefit pension plan, tuition reimbursement, and, of course, free cheese,” the article says.

Despite Krugman, even Biden’s deputies have admitted that migrants divert wealth from ordinary Americans towards CEOs and the stock market. The admission is buried in a pending regulation that is intended to speed more migrants into Americans’ workplaces. The draft “Asylum Officer Rule” says:

The impact on labor earnings developed above has the potential to include both distributional effects (which are transfers) and indirect benefits to employers … A portion of this compensation gain [for migrants] might be transferred to asylum applicants from others who are currently in the U.S. labor force … Companies may also benefit by not incurring opportunity costs associated with the next-best alternative to the immediate labor the asylum applicant would provide, such as having to pay existing workers to work overtime hours. To the extent that overtime pay could be reduced, some portion of this pay could be transferred from the workers to the companies.

Vermont’s federal legislators have been dragged towards a pro-migration stance by progressives and lobbyists. That shift can be seen in the career of Sen. Peter Welch and Sen. Bernie Saunders, who earlier slammed corporate demands for more migration:

Outside Vermont, lobbyists have persuaded a growing number of states and cities to import cheap foreign workers for influential businesses who do not want to — or who cannot — raise productivity and wages for Americans.

These cheap labor/high profit policies are pushed with the novel claim that CEOs and investors somehow have a right to cheap employees, regardless of Americans’ right to bargain for work in a level and national labor market.

For example, in nearby Maine, officials are trying to import 75,000 more migrants for the wages and homes needed by Mainers. “This is a critical step for Maine’s economic future as we address our workforce shortage and support our communities and businesses,” Gov. Janet Mills (D) announced on August 2 as she created the office.

In South Bend, Ind., the local government organized a November 15 event to urge local employers to import foreign white-collar workers via the H-1B program:

Many business groups are also lobbying Congress to further expand migration. But President Joe Biden’s open-borders policy has skewed the national economy against business in smaller states, including Vermont.

Wealthy coastal investors in California, Texas, New York, and Massachusetts have little need to invest in Vermont – or Alabama, Nebraska, Kentucky, Tennessee, or any other Heartland state. After all, Biden is subsidizing their coastal companies with a fresh-off-the-bus migration of cheap and compliant workers, apartment-sharing renters, and government-aided consumers.

It is also true that Vermont landlords and retailers do lose revenue from the missing migrants. In part, that revenue loss is offset for the state government by Vermont’s easier export of more products, such as cheese and chocolate, to U.S. customers in other states.

But Vermont is a state that was created to help its free citizens — not to serve as a northern colony for would-be CEOs and coastal investors.

Local politicians will forever face insistent and uncomfortable pressure from the state’s investors, landlords, and retailers for their hoped-for imported renters and consumers. For example, the New York Times described one advocacy group backed by Vermont’s Chamber of Commerce:

The Futures Project has set a goal of increasing the population to 802,000 by 2035, from fewer than 650,000 today. That would also help bring down Vermont’s median age to 40, from 42.7.

The “message has resonated with business leaders and state officials, but it has been a tougher sell with the population as a whole. A recent poll found that a plurality — but not a majority — of Vermonters supported increasing the population,” the New York Times added.

But there are more conventional ways to grow Vermont’s population.

In general, rising wages and affordable homes help bring in U.S. migrants and also encourage couples to have more children. “If we build [more housing, we will be] attracting more people into the state, more workers,” Gov. Phill Scott said

That wages-and-housing strategy is spotlighted — in reverse — just north of Vermont, where Canadians’ birth rate is crashing because Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is force-feeding Canada with roughly one million migrants per year. Canada’s growth-by-migration policy has spiked housing prices and interest rates — and flatlined wages — making it extremely difficult for young couples to afford homes.

Australia’s left-wing government has embraced the same force-feeding economic strategy with the same result for young Australians.

In the United States, home prices have also risen sharply amid Biden’s revival of President George H. Bush’s Extraction Migration economic strategy.

But in Vermont, the home of few migrants, “the winners are the workers,” the New York Times admitted.

Democratic-led cities pay for migrants’ tickets to other places as resources dwindle

DENVER (AP) — As weary migrants arrive in Denver on buses from the U.S.-Mexico border city of El Paso, Texas, officials offer them two options: temporary shelter or a bus ticket out.

Nearly half of the 27,000 migrants who arrived in Denver since November 2022 have chosen the bus, plane or train tickets to other cities in the U.S., city data shows. In New York and Illinois, taxpayer dollars also are being spent on tickets, creating a shuffle of migrants in the interior U.S. who need shelter, food and medical assistance as they await rulings on asylum cases that can take years.

The transfer of migrants has gained momentum since Republican governors in Texas and Florida started chartering buses and planes to Democratic-led cities in what critics waved off as political stunts. More than a year later, some of those cities, their resources dwindling, are eager to help migrants move on to their final destinations.

The efforts show the increased pressures cities are facing as more migrants from around the globe are coming to the U.S. southern border, often fleeing economic turmoil. Illegal border crossings topped 2 million during the government’s fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, the second-highest number on record.

With many migrants in shelters or living on the street, the next phase of the challenge is getting them to their families, friends or court cases, said Mario Russell, director at the Center for Migration Studies of New York.

That “has been in a sense dropped into the laps of interior cities without much preparation, without much forethought really at any level,” Russell added.

Denver alone has spent at least $4.3 million in city funds to send migrants to other U.S. cities, freeing up shelter beds for new arrivals while adding to the numbers in other Democratic-led cities such as Chicago and New York that are struggling to house asylum-seekers, mostly from Venezuela.

Data wasn’t yet available from New York, though the city is offering one-way plane tickets to anywhere in the world. Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago has used state funds to help buy tickets for more than 2,500 migrants who have family, friends or sponsors elsewhere, according to Chief of Staff Mary Krinock.

The cities say they buy tickets only for migrants who want to travel and they do not coerce people to leave. Texas and Florida have chartered buses and planes to take migrants only to certain cities. They say people board them voluntarily.

“The people who are desperate, who are coming here for shelter and assistance, we’re not going to turn those people away,” Jon Ewing of Denver Human Service said. “But at the same time we have to make it very clear to them that’s there’s only so much we can do.”

Advocates working with migrants say many come to Denver on their way to other cities because of its relative proximity to the border, reputation for being welcoming and the cheaper bus fare.

But charities are feeling the pressure as the weather turns colder and migrants end up sleeping in tent encampments.

“It breaks my heart. It is like we have so many children and little ones that we know we can’t even help,” said Yoli Casas, executive director of Vive Wellness, which works with new migrants to Denver.

“There’s just no more room. There’s no more funding. There’s no nothing. We’re not prepared,” she said.

Denver has bought nearly 3,000 tickets to Chicago and 2,300 to New York, almost half of the more than 12,000 tickets the city has purchased for migrants since November 2022. The vast majority were bus tickets, but Denver also purchased about 340 tickets for flights and 200 for train rides.

Roughly 1,000 tickets were bound for Texas and Florida, whose governors have sent chartered buses and planes of migrants to Democratic-led “sanctuary cities” that limit their cooperation with federal immigration authorities.

Russell of the Center for Migration Studies said greater communication among cities is required to ensure “people go where it’s most appropriate rather than potentially going in circles and circles, from one city to the next.”

“That doesn’t help anybody,” he added.

Tensions flared between political leaders in January when Colorado Democratic Gov. Jared Polis chartered buses for migrants to Chicago. Then-Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot and New York City Mayor Eric Adams penned a letter urging Polis to stop and saying “overburdening other cities is not the solution.”

Cities including Denver, New York, Chicago, Houston and Los Angeles recently have presented a united front, with their mayors going to Washington, D.C., to meet with President Joe Biden and ask for more assistance.

“You have mayors across the country that are struggling with this international crises and we need the federal government to do more,” Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, who took office in May, told reporters this month.

Ewing gave a similar message regarding El Paso’s busing of migrants to Denver, saying the two cities have been in communication.

“They were overwhelmed,” Ewing said, “We certainly didn’t encourage it, but we do understand it.”

El Paso’s mayor is a Democrat and the city’s practice of chartering buses for migrants is separate from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, whose office says it has bused more than 50,000 migrants total to Washington, D.C., New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Denver and Los Angeles since August 2022 to highlight Biden’s border policies.

Abbott spokesperson Andrew Mahaleris said the governor is acting “to provide relief to our overwhelmed border towns.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis got attention last year by flying migrants from San Antonio to Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. This year, state lawmakers approved $12 million in funding for Florida’s migrant relocation initiative.

In Denver, the millions spent on tickets for migrants has reduced shelter costs, which reached upward of $31 million, largely from federal aid with support from the state. But the city also recently instituted shelter bed limits.

Migrants without children have two weeks in city-run shelters, while families have more than five weeks. The city also has sent flyers to border towns warning migrants that the Rocky Mountain metropolis has expensive housing and no shelter space.

In Massachusetts. Democratic Gov. Maura Healey set a threshold of 7,500 families in emergency shelters. New York City and Chicago also are limiting migrants’ shelter stays.

A few Chicago City Council members want to gauge voter support for ending “sanctuary city” status by repealing an ordinance that prohibits municipal workers from questioning immigration stats, bars law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration authorities and ensures city services are available to all.

“We have other Democratic cities, Denver, California, L.A., sending their people to Chicago, New York. They’re sending their migrants to Chicago. Why? Because they are saying, ‘We can’t take anymore.’ Chicago has yet to say, ‘We can’t take anymore,’” Alderman Anthony Beale, who has backed the ballot measure, said at a recent council meeting. “We have to draw the line somewhere.”

Black Chicagoans Rally Against Sanctuary Policies, Promise to Vote for Republicans, Independents Over Democrats

A group of black Chicago residents rallied on the city’s South Side to warn City Hall and the City Council that they are organizing to defeat any official that supports Mayor Brandon Johnson’s fealty to sanctuary city policies and the continued spending of millions on illegal aliens, even to the extent of voting for Republicans over the Democrat Party.

Speakers warned the city’s aldermen that they will be targeted for removal and that blacks in the areas so badly impacted by the onslaught of border crossers flooding into the city would even begin voting for Republicans and independents to defeat Democrats who are so sold-out to the illegal alien lobby.

The warnings came just ahead of a new policy from City Hall that will limit the freebies doled out to border crossers to 60 days in city shelters.

Mayor Johnson announced the new limitations after the Chicago City Council passed a 2024 budget in a vote of 41-8. The budget sets aside an additional $150 million to care for more than 21,200 illegals in the city, according to WTTW.

Johnson claimed that the new limits show that he will not “sacrifice the needs of Chicagoans in support of those who wish to become Chicagoans.”

“This approach that we have right here is to make sure we are addressing the anxiety and fear that people have, whether you are a taxpayer or someone who is seeking asylum in the city of Chicago while speaking to our hopes and aspirations,” Johnson added.

But Johnson’s allocation of more than $363 million to care for illegal border crosses is not sitting well with the city’s black communities.

video highlighted by the African Diaspora News Facebook channel reveals citizens who are fed up with city hall.

The video features a rally by a group of Chicago residents who have dire warnings for the city’s political establishment.

“We’re here to say to black aldermen who are elected by the black citizens of Chicago that we are fed up with you not hearing our stress and our demands but rather do what you want to do to please the Democratic Party,” a disgruntled resident representing the group said over the loudspeaker.

“We are fed up with you for not taking the lead to stop the buses,” she continued. “We are fed up with you for not demanding of Brandon Johnson to remove illegal immigrants from our community, and we’re also here to say we are denouncing Alderman William Hall and Lamont Robinson for going to the border to look into the eyes of illegal immigrants but has failed to look into the eyes of homeless black men women and children and other citizens of Chicago.”

“We have veterans who have served this country who are homeless. Have you looked into their eyes?” she asked pointedly.

She went on to mention specific aldermen by name.

“Alderman Yancey, Alderman Hall, Alderman Robinson, there are 58,440 homeless people in Chicago. We have black school-aged children sleeping in cars. Have you looked into their eyes? No you have not,” she accused.

“Yet illegal immigrants are sleeping in hotels in the City of Chicago, paid by the citizens of Chicago,” she said, adding accusingly:

The white corporate-dominated news media have been unwilling to discuss the role that has never happened before about how immigration is contributing to deteriorating economic and social conditions for blacks who live on the south and west sides of Chicago. If these mass immigration increases continues, all wages and employment for black workers and potential workers will fall.

Our position is that we will not quietly sit by and allow poor destitute people from around the world come to Chicago and be dumped into poor destitute communities in the city of Chicago to please the political agenda of black Alderman, the mayor of the city of Chicago, and the governor of the state of Illinois, as well as the President of the United States.

She went on to deliver a list of demands, and even warned that blacks would start voting for Republicans if the Democrats continue to shill for the Hispanic lobby instead of listening to the black community.

The demands include:

  • We want the mayor to sign an executive order immediately ending sanctuary city.
  • Remove illegal immigrants from our city.
  • We demand that the mayor and the aldermen to not allow any more busloads of illegal immigrants into the city of Chicago.
  • We demand that the aldermen vote ‘no’ on the budget that assume an additional $150 million or more — or any amount for immigrants
  • We demand a funded office of freedmen for black descendants of American chattel slavery.
  • We support the candidacy of Republicans, independents, and Democrats who oppose sanctuary city.
  • We demand that you support Illinois African Americans equitable black school achievement.
  • And we demand that the land grab of senior citizens’ homes and to replace us with illegal immigrants.

“Those are our demands and this is what we expect our elected officials to do,” she concluded. “They are not representing us. They are representing everybody else but us. In illegal immigration, and everything else, we voted for you to get into these positions of power so that you can represent our interests. And we have concluded that you’re not representing our interests. And we are organized. We’re organizing to remove any politician, black, white, otherwise, if you’re not going to represent the interests of black people in the City of Chicago.”

Others also spoke during the event.

One woman said that while she is “pro black,” she feels that her elected officials have “mistreated” and “marginalized” her fellows. She added that blacks “who have been disrespected” are being forced to “give up our parks and our schools and places in our community. For others.”

“We’re not saying that there’s not room here, but what we are saying is that we are not going to step aside for you to accommodate them when you have continued to leave us out of the equation,” she added.

She then had a warning for the Democrat Party:

I’m talking to Governor Pritzker, and I’m talking to President Biden, and I want you to understand that as we run into this upcoming political year where the Democratic Party is on the menu, hear me — people of Chicago, of Illinois, and of the United States, it’s time for us as black people to stop voting party. It’s time to stop voting color, it is time for us to start voting our self-interest. And if the Democrats in the city of Chicago, the state of Illinois, and a country of USA refuses to listen to us that it is time for us to start looking at other alternatives.

“Our rights are being violated, our civil rights are being violated,” another speaker said. “There’s no law that allows for non-citizens to come into our communities, force themselves into our communities, force themselves into public accommodations, force themselves into schools that could have been opened to our children.”

“The constant discrimination of black people has to stop,” she continued. “I have yet to see any black official and Hispanic official in your white official stand up and say that this is a violation of the civil rights of our citizens in this city or the citizens issue in the United States of America.”

“Where’s the money for the economic development of our communities?” she railed. “Why is it that we’re being put into a position where the immigrants who come into our community, They’re going to get money and they’re going to get money to open small businesses, and they are going to open those small businesses in these communities and then our people are going to be forced to buy from them after they’ve invaded our country … We say no to all of this.”

She also demanded that Illinois’ left-wing Governor J.B. Pritzker emulate Republican Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida.

“We demand that Governor Priztker that he exercise his governor rights, like we’ve seen the Florida Governor … exercising his. We see the Texas governor exercising his. But now when you get to Illinois, all the sudden our governor can’t do anything,” she said.

The rally shows that blacks in Chicago are getting fed up with being second class citizens in a city that they are supposed to be controlling.

Civil Rights Icon Barbara Jordan’s Legacy, 26 Years Later: Protecting Americans from Mass Immigration

287AP Photo/File

JOHN BINDER

17 Jan 20220

7:09

On this day in 1996, Civil Rights icon Barbara Jordan died just weeks before Congress and then-President Bill Clinton were set to advance her reforms to illegal and legal immigration focused on protecting poor and working class Americans from waves of job-killing and wage-crushing mass immigration.

Jordan, a Democrat, became a fixture of the Civil Rights movement after becoming the first black American state Senator in the nation since 1883 and the first black American woman elected to the Texas State Senate. Later, in 1972, Jordan became the first black American woman to preside over a legislative body in the U.S. when she was elected president pro tempore of the Texas State Senate.

That same year, Jordan was elected to Congress. Her election marked the first time a black American woman would represent the state of Texas in Washington, D.C.

“For Martin Luther King, Jr. … he was fighting for jobs and fair pay for African Americans and that’s what Barbara Jordan was doing,” NumbersUSA President Roy Beck told Breitbart News.

Following President George H.W. Bush’s Immigration Act of 1990, which blew open the door for today’s mass immigration levels, Jordan chaired the United States Commission on Immigration Reform.

“We think about 1965 having restarted mass immigration, but it was the 1990s that just shut the door on upward mobility for all Americans in the underclass,” Beck said. “It was just an abandonment of the underclass.”

The Jordan Commission’s recommendations revolved around a single mission — serving the national interest. In that framework, the commission recommended:

Cutting legal immigration levels in half to about 500,000 admissions a year, ending the process known as “chain migration” where naturalized citizens can sponsor an unlimited number of foreign relatives, ending the Diversity Visa Lottery that randomly gives out 55,000 visas a year, mandating E-Verify nationwide to screen out illegal aliens from the hiring process, ending low-skilled immigration, and massively curbing illegal immigration with increased border enforcement and swift deportation.

Jordan told a crowd in 1995 at Ross Perot’s United We Stand America conference:

We have concluded that a properly regulated legal immigration system is in the national interest. Immigration is not a right guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution to anyone in the world who thinks they want to come to the United States. Immigration is a privilege granted by the people of the United States to those we choose to admit. [Emphasis added]

We are a country of laws … we disagree with those who would label any effort to control illegal immigration as somehow inherently anti-immigrantUnlawful immigration is not acceptable. [Emphasis added]

The commission finds no national interest in continuing to import lesser-skilled and unskilled workers in the most vulnerable parts of our labor force. Many American workers do not have job prospects and they are not improving. With welfare reform, many unskilled American workers were in the labor market. We should make their task easier to find employment not harder by prioritizing unskilled foreign labor. [Emphasis added]

Mere weeks before Congress and Clinton were set to take up the Jordan Commission’s recommendations, Jordan died just short of her 60th birthday from complications with pneumonia.

Beck, who published Back of the Hiring Line which chronicles the nation’s history of immigration and its negative impact on black Americans, said Jordan’s dream for an immigration system that benefits Americans seemingly “died when she died on that day.”

“Barbara Jordan’s legacy is that she was one of the last Democrats to stand just tall and courageous for that part of the traditional Democrat Party,” Beck said.

“It was the force of her character and her personality and logic and her moral platform that was pulling a lot of people what was doing good for most Americans as opposed to helping their special interest donors,” he continued.

RJ Hauman with the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) described Jordan as an “extraordinary woman, passionate about pursuing justice for all Americans” which was embodied through her immigration reforms.

“Jordan stands alongside Frederick Douglass, Booker T. Washington, A. Philip Randolph, and Coretta Scott King — civil rights leaders who fought for the economic well-being of African Americans and understood the negative effects of mass immigration,” Hauman told Breitbart News.

The Jordan Commission recommendations, Hauman said, have long since been “swept aside in the Democratic Party’s effort to obscure the long history of Civil Rights leaders who believed that immigration policies must serve the national interest.”

To that effect, Beck said Jordan “really epitomized something in the Democrat Party which was having a special responsibility looking out for the working man and woman.” Immigration for Jordan, Beck said, was a labor issue, adding:

Whenever she spoke about struggling black Americans, she almost always spoke for all struggling Americans. That’s a legacy, especially in a time with identity politics. She was, in a way, one of the last great advocates of a more pluralistic kind of politics that looked at all Americans altogether.

In today’s Democrat Party, no elected Democrat holding office in Washington, D.C. has expressed support for the Jordan Commission’s recommendations. Instead, the party has drifted to support huge inflations in the labor market with amnesty for illegal aliens and increased legal immigration levels.

Though there’s silence from Democrats in Washington, D.C. over the Jordan Commission’s recommendations, Beck said there are rumblings from black Americans online who are looking to a political figure to embrace tight labor markets.

“Who’s going to replace her? We’ve been looking for decades and the whole nation is looking for that kind of leadership,” Beck said.

Jordan’s immigration reforms are seemingly more timely today than in 1995.

Every year, the U.S. admits about 1.2 million legal immigrants on green cards and another 1.5 million foreign nationals on mostly low-skilled temporary work visas. The U.S. population has hit a record 331.9 million, driven predominately by legal immigration, which includes a record 46.2 million foreign-born residents.

Without any changes to the nation’s illegal and legal immigration levels, the U.S. is projected to hit a record nearly 70 million foreign-born residents by 2060 — all the more reason that reformers point to Jordan, still, as a trailblazer on immigration policy.

“Barbara Jordan had the national interest at heart. Today is an important day to revisit what she had to say on the immigration issue to put the current debate in proper perspective. Her legacy lives on,” Hauman said.

MLK’s Wife Coretta Scott King: Illegal Immigration Undercuts ‘American Jobs and Living Standards’

Martin Luther King, Jr.’s wife, Coretta Scott King, once declared that barring illegal aliens from taking jobs in the United States is necessary to “stopping … the undercutting of American jobs and living standards.”

In 1991, as a group of Republican and Democrat Senators sought to eliminate fines for U.S. employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens, Scott King joined forces with a coalition of black American and Hispanic advocacy organizations to urge against such a plan.

Former Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) led the effort in Congress while co-sponsors included then-Sens. John McCain (R-AZ), Ted Kennedy (D-MA), Arlen Specter (R-PA), and Jeff Bingaman (D-NM).

Their plan, as proposed, would have eliminated the fines that the federal government is allowed to slap employers with when they are found to be employing illegal aliens over American citizens and legal immigrants. Hatch and Kennedy claimed that the fines had spurred workforce discrimination, which opponents said was exaggerated.

A similar plan was introduced in the House, sponsored by Reps. Edward Roybal (D-CA), Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Barbara Boxer (D-CA), and John Lewis (D-GA), among others.

At the time, Scott King authored a letter to Hatch, warning him that allowing a flood of illegal aliens to take jobs in the U.S. economy would have a particularly devastating impact on black Americans and newly arrived legal immigrants who remain the most likely to compete for jobs against illegal aliens.

“We are concerned, Senator Hatch, that your proposed … elimination of employer sanctions will cause another problem — the revival of pre-1986 discrimination against black and brown U.S. and documented workers, in favor of cheap labor — the undocumented workers,” Scott King wrote:

This would undoubtedly exacerbate an already severe economic crisis in communities where there are large numbers of new immigrants. [Emphasis added]

Finally, we are concerned that some who support the repeal of employer sanctions are using “discrimination” as a guise for their desire to abuse undocumented workers and to introduce cheap labor into the U.S. workforce. America does not have a labor shortage. With roughly seven million people unemployed, and double that number discouraged from seeking work, the removal of employer sanctions threatens to add U.S. workers to the rolls of the unemployed. [Emphasis added]

Additionally, it would add to the competition for scarce jobs and drive down wages. Moreover, the repeal of employer sanctions will inevitably add to our social problems and place an unfair burden on the poor in the cities in which most new immigrants cluster — cities which are already suffering housing shortages and insufficient human needs services. [Emphasis added]

Scott King continued, writing that although fining employers for hiring illegal aliens is “not a panacea for the nation’s illegal immigration problems” they are a “necessary means of stopping the exploitation of vulnerable workers and the undercutting of American jobs and living standards.”

Other signatories were Jack Otero of the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement, Walter Fauntroy of the African American Action Alert Communications Network, Parren Mitchell of the Minority Business Legal Defense and Education Fund, William Lucy of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists, Norman Hill with the A. Phillip Randolph Institute, Dr. Ramona Edelin of the National Urban Coalition, Richard Hatcher of the R. Gordan Hatcher Association, and Daisy Wood of the National Pan-Hellenic Council.

With the help of Scott King, and opposition from lawmakers like Sen. Alan Simpson (R-WY) as well as unions like the AFL-CIO, the effort failed in both the House and Senate.

In recent decades, fines on employers who hire illegal aliens have dropped off significantly — spurring a growing number of lawmakers to back mandating nationwide the government’s E-Verify program, which screens illegal aliens out of the hiring process.

The drop-off in workplace immigration enforcement has come as the nation’s illegal alien population has boomed to anywhere between 11 to 22 million. Today, it is estimated that at least eight million illegal aliens hold U.S. jobs.

President Joe Biden, last year, announced that his administration would halt immigration raids of employers suspected of hiring illegal aliens over American citizens and legal immigrants.

Black Caucus Director: Mass Immigration Spurring ‘Staggering Inequality’ Among Black Americans

Mass immigration to the United States is partly responsible for the nation’s “staggering inequality” among black Americans, the former head of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation says.

For decades, about 1.2 million legal immigrants have been admitted on green cards annually while another 1.5 million foreign workers have arrived every year on temporary visas to take American jobs that would otherwise go to American citizens.

In an op-ed for the Chicago Tribune, former Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Executive Director Frank Morris Sr. writes that such high immigration levels have been devastating for black American wealth and driven “staggering inequality.”

“The median white household owns over 10 times as many assets as the median Black household — a gap that has actually widened since the civil rights victories of the 1960s,” Morris writes:

But one of the biggest — yet most underexplored — culprits is America’s immigration policy. Throughout our nation’s history, employers have preferred to hire newly arrived foreigners, who will often work for rock-bottom wages, instead of Black workers. [Emphasis added]

That massive [immigration] influx harmed the most vulnerable Americans — especially Black people. In fact, one Harvard economist found that from 1980 to 2000, immigration “reduced the wage of black high school dropouts by 8.3%, reduced the employment rate by 7.4 percentage points and increased the incarceration rate by 1.7 percentage points.” [Emphasis added]

For wages and jobs prospects to rise, Morris writes that legal immigration levels must be reduced as “a matter of racial and economic justice for black Americans.”

“Politicians in both parties pay lip service to helping Black Americans,” Morris writes. “If they were truly sincere, they’d listen to generations of civil rights leaders who’ve all recognized that the best way to boost Black Americans’ fortunes is to ensure tight labor markets. That requires stemming the influx of foreign workers.”

Joe Guzzardi, with Progressives for Immigration Reform, blasted the Congressional Black Caucus for failing to demand a pause on immigration to hugely boost the wages, job prospects, and quality of life for black Americans.

“If the powerful Caucus, 58 members strong, would demand an immigration pause, black Americans could close the earnings gap between them and other ethnic groups, mostly whites, that has plagued them for at least seven decades,” Guzzardi wrote:

The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) has abandoned its constituency, choosing to support foreign nationals. Instead of helping struggling blacks, the CBC actively hurts them. The caucus accepts without criticism the current illegal alien border surge which will eventually loosen the labor market when the aliens are paroled with work permits. The caucus votes as a block in favor of immigration-expansion legislation including amnesty for millions, and it promotes paths to citizenship for deferred action and temporary protected status holders. American blacks are excluded from CBC’s progressive agenda which guarantees that, for years to come, the wage gap between African-Americans and whites will remain unchanged. [Emphasis added]

Analysis from the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) has concluded that “immigration reduces labor force participation of the least-educated black men” and that “blacks are more likely to be in competition with immigrants than are whites.”

“There are a number of studies indicating that immigration is harming the labor market prospects of black Americans … if one is concerned about less-educated workers in this country, it is difficult to justify continuing high levels of legal and illegal immigration that disproportionately impact the bottom end of the labor market,” CIS Director of Research Steven Camarotta has testified to Congress.

Exclusive: UN Funds Migrant Wave Flooding to the U.S.7John Moore/Getty Images

NEIL MUNRO

18 Jan 20220

6:37

The U.S.-funded United Nations is providing cash to help job-seeking migrants trek up through South America, Central America, and Mexico, says Todd Bensman at the Center for Immigration Studies.

It is definitely organized,” Bensman told Breitbart News on Monday during a reporting trip to Tapachula in southern Mexico, where migrants arrive after crossing Central America:

They’re giving money out at way-stations up and down the [migrant] trail … There’s a process [in Tapachula]: You get your Mexican [visa] papers, then you go to the UN building next door, get an appointment, and they interview you and look at your situation…  It’s not big money, and not all of them get it, but enough get it to sustain them so they don’t have to go home, and so they can go on to the next way station.

Bensman tweeted a video of the migrants waiting for payments:

The funding helps poor migrants from Africa and Asia survive the deadly and brutal trek through South American, over the Darien Gap, through Central America, and into Mexico. Without the UN-provided money, many of the migrants risk going without food, shelter, or short-distance transport.

The taxpayer-funded UN also funds migrant families as they rationally make their way towards U.S. jobs, neighborhoods, and K-12 schools:

The migrants can walk thousands of miles on their treks, guided by advice from the migrants’ cellphone-carried network. This migrant is  more than halfway through his hoped-for 5,000-mile trek from Venezuala to Las Vegas:

In Mexico, the migrants need to register with Mexico’s government before they can apply for the UN cash:

The migrants are rational and want to work, said Bensman. They know that President Joe Biden’s pro-migration border chief — Alejandro Mayorkas — is quietly allowing catch-and-release for many, although not all, of the global migrants who arrive at the U.S. border.

Once released in the United States, the migrants can take jobs to pay their huge debts to smugglers — and also to encourage more of their families and friends to make the deadly trip, Bensman said, adding:

It’s very simple: if there is a high chance your smuggling investment will yield a return — meaning you get in and work, legally or not, — you’ll come. If  [U.S. government officials] lower that chance, then you won’t come …. It’s not much more complicated than that.

President Donald Trump stopped the flood because he ensured that new migrants were sent home with unpaid smuggling debts. For example, migrants from Nigeria must pay a minimum of $5,000 to get into South America, not counting all their other survival costs, he said. “That’s lifetime-sized fortune,” for some, he added.

The pro-American policy helped Americans — especially poor Americans — get jobs and better wages amid the coronavirus crash.

But Biden’s deputies admitted roughly 1.5 million legal and illegal migrants in 2021 as they try to reinflate the cheap-labor bubble that has helped business investors since the bip[atisan 1990 immigration-expansion act.

The United Nations reveals little about its spending, and the U.S. Department of State reveals little about its aid to the UN’s various groups, including the International Organization for Migration.

In December, Bensman described his examination of the UN’s funding system in an article for TheFederalist.com:

The public reporting as to how much the United States, through the State Department, gives IOM and how many got it is opaque at best. President Joe Biden’s 2022 budget calls for $10 billion in humanitarian assistance “to support vulnerable people abroad.” But there’s no detailed breakout.

A Fiscal Year 2019 summary (starting page 37) by the State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM), which provides U.S. funding to the IOM and many other United Nations agencies, offers one clue of the pre-expansion levels. IOM spent more than $60 million in 2019 for activities in the northern part of South America, Central America, and Mexico during the so-called “caravan migrant crisis” earlier that year, the fiscal year report said.

State Department-funneled money helped IOM provide 29,000 people in the Western Hemisphere with cash and voucher assistance and supported 75 shelter waystations, the State Department report states on page 42, much like the one I visited in Reynosa. Along the northern border of Mexico in July 2019, at the height of a “caravan” crisis, the IOM provided 600 beds and essential items to the Mexican government and helped it expand existing shelters and build new ones to accommodate the “asylum seekers.”

The migrants are rational as they try to leap from their poor, crowded, corrupt, and backward home countries into the efficient and wealthy United States.

But Americans are also rational in excluding waves of migrants from swamping their labor markets, housing markets, schools, and ballots.

Migration moves money, and since at least 1990, the federal government has tried to extract people from poor countries so they can serve U.S. investors as cheap workers, government-aided consumers, and high-density renters in the U.S. economy.

That economic strategy has no stopping point, and it is harmful to ordinary Americans: It cuts their career opportunities and their wages while it also raises their housing costs.

The strategy also curbs Americans’ productivity, shrinks their political clout, and widens the regional wealth gaps between the Democrats’ coastal states and the GOP’s heartland states.

The economic policy radicalizes Americans’ democratic, compromise-promoting civic culture, and allows wealthy elites to ignore despairing Americans at the bottom of society.

Unsurprisingly, a wide variety of little-publicized polls do show deep and broad opposition to labor migration and the inflow of temporary contract workers into jobs sought by young U.S. graduates.

The opposition is growinganti-establishmentmultiracialcross-sexnon-racistclass-basedbipartisanrationalpersistent, and recognizes the solidarity that Americans owe to each other.

DHS’s Alejandro Mayorkas Met with Migrants Suing Americans for $450,000 Payouts

President Joe Biden’s border chief said he would support the illegal migrants who are suing the government for family payouts of $900,000 after they were separated from their children as they were prosecuted for illegal entry, according to a statement posted by the migrants’ lawyers.

The supportive meeting was exposed by one of the high-status law firms working with the illegals — but only after Biden’s political team and lawyers revealed January 5 they would oppose the unpopular giveaway in court. The statement says:

In August 2021, [Guatemalan migrant] Ms. C.M. attended a meeting between separated parents and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. “Secretary Mayorkas told us that it was his job to support us after what we suffered. I feel betrayed and deeply sad now that they’re fighting us in court. We want justice and to make sure this never happens again.”

The migrants — including the Guatemalan migrant, C.M. — are portrayed by the far-left migration advocates and media as helpless victims of President Donald Trump’s claimed cruelty.

But C.M.’s legal claim strongly suggests she was an economic migrant who was using border loopholes — such as the Flores catch-and-release loophole — to join the illegal-migrant father of her child who had already gotten to Oakland, California. The claim says, “Plaintiff Erendira C. M. [now] resides in Oakland, California. … While she was detained [by Trump’s DHS] in Atlanta, Erendira wanted to call Yasmin’s father, Erendira’s long-term partner (and now husband), who lives in Oakland.”

The meeting with Mayorkas took place in August. That was before a government official leaked the ACLU’s demand for payouts of $450,000 per person to the migrants, and before Biden’s poll-watching East Coast deputies pushed out several of Mayorkas’s appointed allies because of Biden’s terrible ratings on immigration policy.

The lawsuit does not explain why the woman and her child were given the huge prize of being allowed to live in the United States. But the lawyers still want the dollar payout, saying:

I still live with the pain of my daughter being taken from me,” said Erendira C.M., an indigenous Guatemalan mother whose daughter who was six at the time of separation, and one of the plaintiffs in the case. “No family should ever suffer the way we suffered.”

Many deported migrants leave their children with illegal migrant relatives in the United States. That choice of voluntary separation gives their children a good chance to become American citizens and still allows for conversations vis cell phone. But the pro-migration lawyers are seeking to stigmatize and punish enforcement of border law and are eager to portray the migrants as deserving victims.

Mayorkas is a Cuban-born, pro-migration zealot who has repeatedly touted the migrants’ demand for compensation and relocation into the U.S. society. In March, as hundreds of thousands of migrants were heading towards U.S. borders, he told MSNBC:

Our highest priority is to reunite these [partly deported] families. As we so powerfully saw, these are young people in their formative years. These are sometimes children as young as 3 years old. We are addressing the needs and vulnerabilities, not only of the children, but of course, their mothers, their fathers, the people that make up these families. … Three years of age at the time of separation! — it’s extraordinarily cruel and inhumane.

In 2013, Mayorkas declared  that Americans’ homeland is “a nation that always has been and forever will remain a Nation of Immigrants.” In April 2021, he said migrant-owned companies “are the backbone of our communities — and of our country.” In May 2021, he staged the televised reunification of migrant families to distract media coverage from his border chaos. In June, Mayorkas promised that he would put the dignity of foreign migrants “foremost in our efforts.”

Mayorkas is not an academic. He has a budget of more than $50 billion and is using his bureaucratic and regulatory powers to pull many economic migrants through several small side doors in immigration law — even though Congress created those side doors for use by small numbers of persecuted asylum seekersstranded travelersvictimized children, and injured voyagers.

Mayorkas’s pro-migration policies are causing the family separations he says he wants to fix, Rob Law, the director of regulatory affairs and policy at the Center for Immigration Studies, said:

Well, I wouldn’t call it irony — I’d call it cruelty. This is intentionally being being done it and there’s no remorse for it. The open-border policies of the Biden administration create the separation of families as the [migrants] seek out the economic opportunities of living in the United States …

Young men recognize the administration’s half-hidden welcome for illegal foreign workers, and so they leave their families in their home countries to sneak into the United States, Law said:

The administration’s policies created the separation. Instead of taking responsibility and tightening work enforcement to get the [foreign] worker out of the United States and back to his home country, they say, “Well, we have sympathy for your scenario — which of course we created — and so now we’re going to find a way to extract your family from their home country, and just reunite them with you,” even though there’s nothing nothing in our immigration laws that would make these people qualified for anything to be here lawfully.

The policies of “Everyone’s an asylum seeker” and “Everyone should be let in” and “Everyone should be given a work permit” entices aliens from around the world to get into serious debt in order to pay very dangerous cartels and smugglers to get them to the border. That guarantees some portion of that [migrant] population is going to be abused during the journey, whether it’s physical, sexual, emotional. Nobody is going to get through that path to the southern border unscathed.  Those are the human sacrifices that the Biden administration says is the trade-off for [migrants] coming to the United States.

“It is callous; it’s really heartless,” Law said.

The administration and its pro-migration allies jointly put up a show of defending the border, even as they cut backdoors and loopholes in the border to let more than 100,000 migrants through each month, according to Law. For example, the demand for $450,000 payouts is just encouraging more home-country relatives of the lawsuit families to claim they also face extortion that can only be resolved by their transfer into the United States, he said:

So they’re literally creating the scenario to encourage more migrants. It used to be you know Mexican day laborers would come for a season, and then they go back across the border back to Mexico and they would repeat this over years. But it was just single adult male workers. That was wrong, but it was limited. Now it’s the worker plus the entire family, and that family just seems to keep getting larger and larger and larger. As you see with these reported payments, now it’s cousins and third uncles and any other iteration of blood relative who is now claiming to be threatened because the bad guys — the cartels and the drug dealers … [The legal theatrics are] all just designed for the mass importation of aliens into the United States and the nullification of our immigration laws.

The administration’s border theatrics are good enough to persuade their allies — even though Biden welcomed roughly 620,000 southern migrants from February to September, or more than twice the 250,000 allowed in Trump in 2020.

Biden’s deputies, led by Mayorkas, have also allowed in 50,000 Afghans, hundreds of thousands of visa workers, and roughly 500,000 “gotaway” illegals.

Many polls show that Americans strongly oppose labor migration even as they also want to like immigrants and to allow some immigration. But the bipartisan federal government has exploited the public’s decency since 1990 to extract tens of millions of migrants from poor countries to boost U.S. businesses as workers, consumers, and renters.

That economic strategy is harmful to ordinary Americans: It cuts their career opportunities and their wages while it also raises their housing costs. The extraction-migration policy also widens regional wealth gaps nationwide. For example, Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s Bakersfield district in inland California has largely been ignored by job-creating investors. The investors can ignore Bakersfield and its job-seekers because they use the government-provided supply of migrants and foreign contract workers to staff new businesses near their coastal homes.

The migration strategy also curbs Americans’ productivity, shrinks their political cloutradicalizes their democratic, compromise-promoting civic culture, and allows wealthy elites to ignore despairing Americans at the bottom of society.

Unsurprisingly, a wide variety of little-publicized polls do show deep and broad opposition to labor migration and the inflow of temporary contract workers into jobs young U.S. graduates seek.

Mexico: Where Is Your Shame?

At a demonstration Wednesday in Mexico City against Arizona's law.

Immigration: Mexico's government gloated triumphantly after a federal judge's injunction blocked Arizona's immigration law. But it's no victory for Mexico. In fact, Mexico's leaders ought to be mortified.

As radical immigration activists crowed with glee and the Obama administration claimed victory, Mexico's government joined the applause.

Calling Judge Susan Bolton's injunction Wednesday "a step in the right direction," Mexican Foreign Minister Patricia Espinosa declared: "The government of Mexico would like to express its recognition for the determination demonstrated by the federal government of the United States and the actions of the civil organizations that organized lawsuits against the SB 1070 law."

In reality, it ought to be ashamed. Supposedly framed as an issue of federal power pre-empting state power, it's hardly Mexico's business. But Mexico made a big show of saying its interest was in protecting its nationals from the dreadful racism of Arizona that its own citizens, curiously enough, keep fleeing to.

Espinosa said her government was busy collecting data on civil rights violations and her department had issued an all-out travel warning to Mexican nationals about Arizona.

That's where Mexico's hypocrisy is just too much.

First, Mexico encourages illegal immigration to the U.S. Oh, it says it doesn't, but it prints comic book guides for would-be illegal immigrants and provides ID cards for illegals once they get here. In Arizona alone, Mexico keeps five consulates busy.

That's not out of love for its own citizens, but because Mexicans send cash back to Mexico that helps finance the government.

Instead of selling its wasteful state-owned oil company or getting rid of red tape to create jobs in Mexico, Mexico spends the hard currency from remittances. It fails to look at why its citizens leave.

According to the Heritage Foundation-Wall Street Journal 2010 Index of Economic Freedom, Mexico's big problem is — no shock — government corruption, where it ranks below the world average.

That's where Mexico's cartels come in.

Mexico's encouragement of illegal immigration undercuts its valiant war against its smuggling cartels. The cartels' prowess and firepower have made them the only ones who can smuggle effectively across the border. U.S. law enforcers say they now control human-smuggling on our southern border.

Feed them immigrants and they grow more cash-rich — and right now, immigrant smuggling is about a third of the cartels' income.

Mass graves and car bombings are signs of criminal organizations getting bigger, and more powerful. Juarez, which has lost 5,000 people this year, bleeds because cartels fight over not just who gets the drug routes, but who gets the illegal-immigrant smuggling routes, too.

Aside from the cartel mayhem in Mexico, the bodies are piling up in the Arizona desert and U.S. Border Patrol rescues of abandoned illegals left to die have risen.

It's not the desert's fault, and it's certainly not Uncle Sam's fault, as activists claim. No, it's the fact that Mexicans are encouraged to emigrate. Criminal cartels don't fear abandoning their human cargo in the desert, as long as Mexico does nothing and blames Uncle Sam.

Hearing Mexico's government now cheer the Arizona ruling, which will only encourage more illegal immigration, gives the country's regime a pretty inhuman face.

If Mexico had any decency, it would do all it could to discourage illegal immigration and keep a respectful silence about Arizona.

It needs U.S. support for its war on cartels. Instead of insulting American citizens, Mexico should confront directly the reasons why its people are so desperate to leave, and do all in its power to destroy the cartels that are slowly killing the nation. That includes defunding the murderous gangs by halting illegal immigration.

Mexican President AMLO Praises ‘Extraordinary’ Joe Biden for ‘Humane’ Catch and Release Policy at Border

Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) called President Joe Biden an “extraordinary president” on Friday and praised the administration’s expansive Catch and Release network at the United States-Mexico border.

During a meeting between Biden and AMLO at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Conference in San Francisco, California, the Mexican president called Biden a “good man” who has been an “extraordinary president” for the U.S., according to the Associated Press.

Among the issues Biden and AMLO discussed was illegal immigration.

AMLO heaped more praise on Biden for the administration’s Catch and Release network that releases tens of thousands of border crossers and illegal aliens into American communities — rather than turning them back to Mexico — through a variety of programs.

According to AMLO, the policy is “a humane way to address the migration phenomenon.”

One of Biden’s programs to get border crossers and illegal aliens into the U.S. interior is a migrant mobile app where foreign nationals in Mexico can actually schedule appointments at the border to be released.

As Breitbart News reported this week, the migrant mobile app has helped free more than 350,000 foreign nationals into American communities since January of this year. This is a foreign population three times the size of Manchester, New Hampshire, twice the size of Santa Rosa, California, and approaching the size of Cleveland, Ohio.

In addition, thousands of border crossers and illegal aliens are released monthly into the U.S. interior through a parole pipeline opened by Biden.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Inspector General (IG) estimates the agency is freeing more than 60,000 border crossers and illegal aliens into the U.S. interior every month. Over the course of a year, this indicates that Biden’s DHS is releasing into American communities over 720,000 border crossers and illegal aliens.

AMLO has previously applauded Biden. In January of this year, for example, AMLO told Biden “thank you” in regard to the administration’s halting all border wall construction.

Mexican Arkancide?

https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=5440581937224467578#allposts/postNum=0

By Monica Showalter

Sometimes, the coincidences get just too...coincidental.

Now we have, in Mexico, the sudden helicopter crash of a newly elected governor, after an apparently very bitter election.  Here's the Globe and Mail report:

A Mexican governor and her senator husband were killed on Monday in a helicopter crash near the city of Puebla in central Mexico, the government said, just days after she had taken office following a bitterly contested election.

Martha Erika Alonso, a senior opposition figure and governor of the state of Puebla, died with Rafael Moreno, a senator and former Puebla governor, when their Agusta helicopter came down on Monday afternoon shortly after take-off, the government said.

This seems to happen a lot in Mexico, quite unlike any comparable place in the region that I know of.

A number of Mexican politicians have died in aircraft accidents in recent years, including federal interior ministers in 2008 and 2011.  The latter two were also members of the PAN.

Maybe it was just the wildest of coincidences, but given the savage character of Mexican politics, I think it's natural to be a little suspicious.  In most of these incidents, the motive is suspected but not utterly obvious.  This one is different: it came after a bitterly contested election that the rabid left says was stolen.  It sounds like the sort of fury we saw from the left when Trump won – except that now we see Mexican politics at play, potentially a straight-up assassination, possibly by the embittered left.

Mexico sees a lot of these helicopter downings, and what's more, it sees a lot of full blown assassinations.  A presidential candidate from before Mexico got into multi-party politics, Luis Donaldo Colosio, was straight-out assassinated in 1994, and his wife died under murky circumstances shortly after that.  Other elected officials have been gunned down or else died in mysterious car crashes.  There was definitely one of those in Michoacán.  Yes, some probably were the work of drug-dealers.  But others were far more likely to be Mexico's toxic politics.  It does happen.

Yet the Mexican government can get real touchy when you bring up any suspicions about the helicopter crash phenomenon.  I remember how furious Mexico City's response was to an actually sympathetic editorial I wrote for Investor's Business Daily, I think in 2008, when a Mexican official was similarly killed in a helicopter crash.  At the time, they were obviously worried about the potential impact on foreign investment, but my thought was to praise the Mexicans for their resolve and sacrifice in fighting drug lords.  That's not the way they think over there.

Why does it matter?  Well, because the U.S. under President Trump is trying hard to get along with the new Mexican administration, run by the leftist Andrés Manuel López-Obrador.  His followers are the top suspects in this mysterious helicopter crash, which, if the investigation leads anywhere, is likely to cast a Putinesque pall over López-Obrador just as it gets its grounding.  Prepare for relations to deteriorate if that grows as a backstory.

Perhaps even more, it matters because Mexico's politics seems to be the model for Democratic Party politics these days as rage over Trump dominates.  In California, ballot-harvesting has been adopted as a legal practice, in what's a straight-out cultural appropriation of Mexican politics.  If the Democrats are planning to make themselves the "perfect dictatorship" along the PRI model of one-party rule, starting in California and taking that style national, well, the unhappy question is, what else are they borrowing from Mexican politics as they (without saying so, of course) borrow from the Mexican Model?  Yes, it sounds far-fetched.  But we also know how implacably angry the Democrats still are at the election of Donald Trump and how they like to get away with things.

President Lopez-Obrador and the Wall

https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2018/12/president_lopezobrador_and_the_wall.html

By Silvio Canto, Jr.

Over the last few years, I've had conversations with friends in Mexico.  We usually end up talking about the border.  For us, the border is illegal immigration.  For Mexicans, it's guns and cash corrupting a very fragile political system.

As a Mexican friend said recently, the cartels have the politicians in their pockets, especially in the small towns where many of these vans full of cash and guns drive through.

There are many reasons to build that border wall, as former Secretary of Education William Bennett said on Sunday:

By weight, 86 percent of heroin that entered the United States in 2016 was of Mexican origin, according statistics from the Drug Enforcement Administration.

"After 9/11 we shut down the border. When we shut down the border, drugs didn't come in," Bennett said. "If you shut down that border, if you close it off, if you build a wall, it can have a real and profound difference."

There is another reason, as any rational Mexican will tell you.

On a weekly basis, lots of cash and guns go south.  They are the profits and rewards of the drugs going north.  According to unofficial estimates:

Officials in Mexico believe the tide of laundered money could be as high as $50bn per year, a sum equal to about three per cent of Mexico's legitimate economy -- more than all its oil exports or spending on key social programmes. Internationally, money laundering represents between two and five per cent of global GDP, or between $800bn and $2tn annually, according to the UNODC.

It would be more difficult for money or guns to go south if you had a wall on the border.

So President Trump should pick up the phone and call President Lopez-Obrador.  He should thank him for keeping the caravans in Mexico and discuss the benefits of the border wall.  Why wouldn't the Mexican president support the wall?  I'm sure that the Mexican army and police would love to see that wall go up.

The lack of a stable border hurts both sides.

DANGEROUS: Biden Casts Doubt on Polls, Laying Groundwork To Delegitimize 2024 Election

American democracy under assault

November 9, 2023

What's happening: There's still a long way to go before Election Day in 2024, but President Joe Biden is already dismissing polls that show him losing to Donald Trump as inaccurate, raising the specter that if he loses next November he will argue the election was not legitimate.

• Biden on Thursday rebuffed questions about recent polling from respected mainstream outfits that show him trailing Trump in several key states. "You don't believe you're trailing in battleground states?" asked one reporter during a press gaggle outside the White House. "No, I don't," Biden replied.

• The president is immensely unpopular. Biden's job approval numbers are underwater even in deep-blue states such as California. Just 39 percent of Americans approve of his job performance, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released last week.

Why it matters: This is dangerous. Biden's refusal to accept the results of these polls—conducted in part by the esteemed and unassailable journalists at the New York Times—is a dog whistle to his extremist supporters that threatens the very principles on which our cherished democracy was founded.

• Biden's strategy is clear: Convince his base—comprising associate professors, multiple home owners, corporate lawyers, and suburban wine moms—that it is not possible for him to lose a fair and legitimate election in 2024. Therefore, if he loses, it must be, by definition, illegitimate.

• Most of Biden's radical supporters suffered irreversible brain damage after Trump defeated Hillary Clinton in 2016, and many of them continue to believe that election was "rigged" by Russian teenagers who hacked into voting machines and changed the results.

Crucial context: The Democratic Party has a long history of refusing to accept the results of free and fair elections. Hillary, for example, has repeatedly described Trump as an "illegitimate president" and suggested the 2016 election was "stolen" from her. Stacey Abrams still claims to have "won" the 2018 gubernatorial election in Georgia, which she refused to concede after not winning.

• Democrats have alleged foul play in every single presidential election won by a Republican dating back to 2000.

Bottom line: Biden's gaslighting, clearly intended to set the stage for full-blown election denial, is a heat-seeking missile aimed at the heart of the U.S. Constitution and the patriotic pillars of the American democratic experiment. We are literally shaking right now.

Joe Biden touts Gavin Newsom for president, forgetting all about Kamala Harris back home

So what was the atmosphere like at the Naval Observatory, home of Vice President Kamala Harris, last night? I imagine they could see some stars.

According to the New York Post:

President Biden openly touted California Gov. Gavin Newsom as a hot contender for the White House — telling world leaders the younger man “could have the job I’m looking for,” referring to his 2024 re-election bid.

“I want to thank him. He’s been one hell of a governor, man,” Biden, who turns 81 next week, said of the 56-year-old fellow Democrat after Newsom warmed up the crowd for him at a reception for leaders at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation conference in San Francisco.

“Matter of fact, he can be anything he wants — he could have the job I’m looking for,” said Biden, who is the Democratic Party’s front-runner for the 2024 nomination.

Which is quite a slight to Harris, who has presidential ambitions of her own.

It's effectively an endorsement, Biden picking Harris's best political pal (up until now) to be his successor presumably after 2024, as if Biden could actually win re-election in 2024.

President Obama was often looked upon in askance for his hesitance to support Joe Biden for president, claiming that he would make his endorsement after the Democrat primaries. That was billed as good politics, given that anyone could have taken the nomination at that point and Obama wanted to be on the side of the winner.

But it also amounted to a vote of no confidence in Joe Biden, his faithful, loyal, dog-like vice president, who would do anything Obama wanted."You don't have to do this, Joe," Obama reportedly counseled Biden when he was contemplating his run. When all that came out, we 'got' why Obama didn't want to endorse Joe but didn't want to openly call him a clown, either.

Biden has roughly the same problem with the incompetent Kamala, but not Obama's snake-like capacity to slither between repudiating her for her incompetence and wholeheartedly endorsing her, despite her dog-like loyalty to Biden, comparable to Biden's to Obama.

Instead, Biden just endorsed Kamala's old long-time politically ally and rival from their San Francisco days, Gavin Newsom, which to Harris, has to feel like a wet towel in the face.

One wonders what the blowback will be from the Kamala camp, insofar as she has loyalists, which admittedly aren't many . Will it be leaks? A tell-all about Joe's senility, bathroom issues, and tendency to fall asleep in meetings? A rousting of black voters brimming with new concessions from Joe? Nasty leaks about Newsom and his past? It could be anything. What we do know from this is that Kamala has the motive now to strike back and based on her past sneaky behavior with leaks against rivals, she probably will.

"Don't underestimate Joe's ability to f*** things up," as Obama reportedly said.

Get out the popcorn.

"Mexican president candidate Andrés Manuel López Obrador called for mass immigration to the United States, declaring it a "human right". a very good deal for the Mexican ruling class,” Carlson added."

"Many Americans forget is that our country is located against a socialist failed state that is promising to descend even further into chaos – not California, the other one. And the Mexicans, having reached the bottom of the hole they have dug for themselves, just chose to keep digging by electing a new leftist presidente who wants to surrender to the cartels and who thinks that Mexicans have some sort of “human right” to sneak into the U.S. and demographically reconquer it." As in 2016, Democrats advance a corrupt ruling-class candidate. Kamala Harris Urges Illegal Migrants to Help Elect Joe Biden

NEIL MUNRO

Sen. Kamala Harris promised Sunday to reduce detention space for migrants as she asked an illegal immigrant activist to help Joe Biden win the election.

BLOG EDITOR: WHY DIDN’T LAWYER KAMALA HARRIS TELL THE ILLEGAL TO GO HOME??? SHE’S THE ONE WHO AS ATTORNEY GENERAL OF CA DECLARED THAT NEARLY HALF THE MURDERS IN MEXIFORNIA ARE BY MEX GANGS!

“I’m undocumented … I can’t vote …What can we do during this election to help make sure that we get you elected?” asked Astrid Silva, who was brought into the United States as a child by her illegal migrant parents.

“You can tell people who can vote what life is like for you now, and what life can be like,” Vice President nominee Harris told the Nevada-based political organizer who runs the pro-amnesty Dream Big Nevada group, adding that:

We are committed to shutting down private detention centers and ending policies that have been about separating children from their parents at the border.

Harris’s comments may be a coded message to would-be illegal migrants and their supportive legal-immigrant relatives.

For example, if implemented, Harris’s promise to start “shutting down private detention centers” could cripple border enforcement. If the enforcement agency does not have commercial prisons to hold detainees prior to their asylum hearings, the agency would be forced to release waves of job-seeking migrants into the U.S. labor market.

Similarly, Harris’s promise to end “policies … about separating children” echoes the media-magnified demand by pro-migration activists that officials release migrant mothers and children when they cross the border. That demand would let migrant families freely travel to relatives — including their illegal migrant husbands and fathers — who are working illegally in the United States.

Last week in Nevada, I caught up with my friend @Astrid_NV, to discuss the Biden-Harris plan for immigration reform and how Dreamers can make a difference in this election.

If you're eligible to vote, show up at the ballot box for those who can't: https://t.co/VbrfuqVy9Ppic.twitter.com/knU2qFSYmn

— Kamala Harris (@KamalaHarris) November 1, 2020

Like Biden, Harris pushed the Cold War “Nation of Immigrants” claim, even though only about 10 percent of people in the United States are legal immigrants:

We want to have a president who understands we are a nation of immigrants. This is a country that was built and that has derived its strength from immigrants coming here over the generations.

Harris also tried to blur the legal and civic differences between illegal migrants, legal immigrants, and American citizens. For example, she told Silva:

Define who you are, and you tell the world who you are. Don’t let anybody ever put you in a box because they have a limited perspective on who can do what and who can be one.

[…]

We are all in this together. And so, chin up, shoulders back, right? We speak our truth and know that there will always be people applauding and supporting that even if you can’t see them at that one moment, know that there are so many of us who are supporting your leadership and the power of your voice. It’s really important.

Harris also claimed President Donald Trump vilified immigrants: “We’ve seen under the current president the kind of vitriol, the kind of hate, the vilification of immigrants in such a horrible way.”

But a Washington Post poll showed in April that Latinos are the strongest advocates for a near-total halt to legal immigration during the coronavirus epidemic and economic crash.

Biden’s 2020 plan promises to “reassert America’s commitment to asylum-seekers and refugees,” wipe out Trump’s asylum reforms, bar any deportations for 100 days, and end migration enforcement against illegal aliens unless they commit a felony.

Joe Biden’s asylum and open-border policies will destroy the American middle class by releasing millions of foreign migrants into the United States, Stephen Miller told reporters October 28. https://t.co/BaeLSIud7y

— Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) October 28, 2020

Biden also wants to let companies import more visa workers, let mayors import temporary workers, and allow an unlimited flow of foreign graduates through U.S. universities into white-collar jobs. Biden would “exempt from any cap [the] recent graduates of Ph.D. programs in STEM fields.”

Biden also wants to accelerate the inflow of chain migration migrants and dramatically accelerate the inflow of poor refugees to at least 125,000 per year.

“The influx of low wage workers from all across the world will drive down incomes, drive down wages, deplete the middle class, bankrupt Social Security, bankrupt Medicare, bankrupt Medicaid, bankrupt federal entitlements, overcrowd schools, and overcrowd every hospital in the middle of a pandemic,” White House aide Stephen Miller told reporters on October 28.

“It is an assault on reason, it is an assault on law enforcement, and it’s an assault on the very idea of having a country, having a Republic,” Miller added. “This is not about left or right or Center. This is about between having a country, or not even having a country.”

Study: More than 7-in-10 California Immigrant

Welfare

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2018/12/04/study-more-than-7-in-10-california-immigrant-households-are-on-welfare/

More than 7-in-10 households headed by immigrants in the state of California are on taxpayer-funded welfare, a new study reveals.

The latest Census Bureau data analyzed by the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) finds that about 72 percent of households headed by noncitizens and immigrants use one or more forms of taxpayer-funded welfare programs in California — the number one immigrant-receiving state in the U.S.

Meanwhile, only about 35 percent of households headed by native-born Americans use welfare in California.

All four states with the largest foreign-born populations, including California, have extremely high use of welfare by immigrant households. In Texas, for example, nearly 70 percent of households headed by immigrants use taxpayer-funded welfare. Meanwhile, only about 35 percent of native-born households in Texas are on welfare.

In New York and Florida, a majority of households headed by immigrants and noncitizens are on welfare. Overall, about 63 percent of immigrant households use welfare while only 35 percent of native-born households use welfare.

President Trump’s administration is looking to soon implement a policy that protects American taxpayers’ dollars from funding the mass importation of welfare-dependent foreign nationals by enforcing a “public charge” rule whereby legal immigrants would be less likely to secure a permanent residency in the U.S. if they have used any forms of welfare in the past, including using Obamacare, food stamps, and public housing.

The immigration controls would be a boon for American taxpayers in the form of an annual $57.4 billion tax cut — the amount taxpayers spend every year on paying for the welfare, crime, and schooling costs of the country’s mass importation of 1.5 million new, mostly low-skilled legal immigrants.

As Breitbart News reported, the majority of the more than 1.5 million foreign nationals entering the country every year use about 57 percent more food stamps than the average native-born American household. Overall, immigrant households consume 33 percent more cash welfare than American citizen households and 44 percent more in Medicaid dollars. This straining of public services by a booming 44 million foreign-born population translates to the average immigrant household costing American taxpayers $6,234 in federal welfare.

Liberal California Emigrants are Toxic

By R. Quinn Kennedy

When Arizona, a state that has historically leaned conservative, was won by Joe Biden and now-senator Mark Kelly this week, very few were taken by surprise. Extensive polling indicated Arizona was ripe for swinging liberal and in this instance, at least, the polling was correct.

The question is why? Why has a state that held two elected Republican senators as recently as 2018 and which held a dependable stable of electoral votes for GOP presidential candidates become a purple state on its way to becoming solidly blue? Have Arizona residents suddenly awaked to the idea that liberal policies and doctrines are more sensible than conservative ones? Hardly.

The answer regarding Arizona’s swing lies in its neighbor to the west, California. Since 2012, California has overwhelmingly sent more transplants to Arizona than any other state. When surveyed, escaping Californians cite high taxes, high crime rates, unaffordable housing, out-of-control homelessness, and high unemployment rates as their top reasons for fleeing.

Who is responsible for creating such an alarming living environment within the state? California liberals. A November, 2020 report produced by the Mercatus Center at George Mason University stated that California has 395,608 regulatory restrictions. The sheer volume and scope of California regulations creates such a compliance nightmare that they kill entire industries, send housing prices to unattainable heights, and restrict even commonplace liberties for which conservative leaning states are known.

Piled onto California’s endless river of regulations are its nonsensical laws and policies. Twenty major metropolitan cities or counties in California have established laws, ordinances, regulations, or other practices that shield illegal immigrants from prosecution after committing a crime. These counties brazenly safeguard illegal immigrant criminals against deportation either through noncompliance or by refusing to hand them over to federal agencies such as ICE. With over $1.5 trillion in state and local government debt, California effectively has little money to spare for conveniences such as criminal incarceration. What do sanctuary cities and counties see as the alternative to handing illegal immigrant criminals over for deportation? Release them back into the general population, of course.

Consider this: Between 2014 and 2017, the FBI reported that 49 states saw an average increase in crime annually of around 3%. After implementing “humane” alternatives to criminal prosecution, California crime increased more than 12% per year over the same time period. With irrational sanctuary policies that send a clear message of little to no consequence for offenses, is it any wonder California’s crime rate is now spiraling out of control?

Arizona is not the only beneficiary of the California exodus. The Colorado State Demography Office has published an active flow map of people moving into the state from 2010 on. Disturbingly, the state sending the most movers to Colorado since then has consistently been California. As recently as 2004, Colorado had the political trifecta of a Republican governor and a Republican-controlled House and Senate. A short ten years later, all three had turned irrevocably Democrat. The subsequent consequence? A drastic increase in state and local regulations, a dramatic increase in violent crimes, a severe shortage of home inventory and affordable housing, and a staggering increase in homelessness. Do these newfound troubles sound familiar to any other state mentioned here? The only safeguard against out-of-control tax hikes in Colorado is the TABOR Amendment passed by voters 1992, prior to the influx of California residents, that requires taxpayer approval for any new tax. Not surprisingly, emboldened liberals in Colorado are vigorously resolute in repealing this tax hike protection. As of the most recent election they are unsuccessful, yet remain undeterred.

What has coincided with Colorado’s decline? The mass inflow of Californians to the state. Californians have brought with them all the very same liberal doctrines and ideologies that forced their flight from California in the first place. Does this dissuade liberal Californians from shaping Colorado into the very image of California? Not in the least.

If there is any hope for Arizona, it is that they might learn from the resulting ruin of Colorado, however unlikely.

In the 2020 election, Texas was startlingly considered in play for liberals. Since 2015, which state has contributed the most emigrants into Texas? Not surprisingly, the state of California. The hope for liberals is that they can turn Texas into the next purple soon-to-be blue state. The coveted prize is Texas’ electoral votes. Even more insidious, if liberals are able to capture Texas as they have done in Colorado and Arizona, they will force the state to join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. They will then achieve their ultimate goal of a Democrat president reigning over the United States for endless generations until the point our country experiences the same collapse as other great civilizations throughout world history.

The obvious question is this: How can Texas avoid the same fate as states such as Colorado and Arizona? Simple. By being proactive.

It is much easier for liberals to enact new legislation than to argue for the removal of existing laws. With this in mind, Texas should take advantage of their current Republican-controlled Senate, House, and governor’s office by making haste and passing laws that would limit the future incursion of liberal meddling. Texas can presently enact laws that prohibit sanctuary cities, require voter approval to remove the state’s mandated balanced budget, require that any new regulation must necessitate the removal of an existing one, and compel voter approval of each new local or state tax including non-user fees. While such laws may only serve to stem the liberal takeover of the state, they would be roadblocks making it much more difficult for ideological infiltration in areas that affect inhabitant’s liberties and quality of life.

It would be absurd to suppose Californians have malintent. Rather, they are simply following the course with which they are most familiar while being blissfully ignorant of the negative unintended consequences their political ideology brings. To suggest that any act of suppression, aggression, or intimidation towards Californians moving into red states is acceptable would simply be un-American and subject to the same type of hypocrisy liberals practice. If conservatives stoop to their level, we have lost the battle and, perhaps, the war.

However, by taking aggressive legislative action in states that have not yet succumbed to liberal infiltration, Conservatives will effectively be planting our flag in a defiant refusal to hand over our institutions and our liberty.

A DACA amnesty would put more citizen children of illegal aliens — known as “anchor babies” — on federal welfare, as Breitbart News reported, while American taxpayers would be left potentially with a $26 billion bill.

Additionally, about one-in-five DACA illegal aliens, after an amnesty, would end up on food stamps, while at least one-in-seven would go on Medicaid. JOHN BINDER

THE NEW PRIVILEGED CLASS: Illegals!

This is why you work From Jan - May paying taxes to the government ....with the rest of the calendar year is money for you and your family.

Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children. He takes a job for $5.00 or 6.00/hour. At that wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year, if he files an Income Tax Return, with his fake Social Security number, he gets an "earned income credit" of up to $3,200..... free.

He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent.

He qualifies for food stamps.

He qualifies for free (no deductible, no co-pay) health care.

His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school.

He requires bilingual teachers and books.

He qualifies for relief from high energy bills.

If they are or become, aged, blind or disabled, they qualify for SSI.

Once qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicare. All of this is at (our) taxpayer's expense.

He doesn't worry about car insurance, life insurance, or homeowners insurance.

Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins and printed material.

He and his family receive the equivalent of $20.00 to $30.00/hour in benefits.

Working Americans are lucky to have $5.00 or $6.00/hour left after Paying their bills and his.

The American taxpayers also pay for increased crime, graffiti and trash clean-up.

Every illegal alien, over the course of their lifetime, costs American taxpayers about $70,000, Center for Immigration Studies Director of Research Steve Camarota says.

During an interview with SiriusXM Patriot’s Breitbart News Daily, Camarota said his research has revealed the enormous financial burden that illegal immigration has on America’s working and middle class taxpayers in terms of public services, depressed wages, and welfare.

“In a person’s lifetime, I’ve estimated that an illegal border crosser might cost taxpayers … maybe over $70,000 a year as a net cost,” Camarota said. “And that excludes the cost of their U.S.-born children, which gets pretty big when you add that in.”

LISTEN:

“Once [an illegal alien] has a child, they can receive cash welfare on behalf of their U.S.-born children,” Camarota explained. “Once they have a child, they can live in public housing. Once they have a child, they can receive food stamps on behalf of that child. That’s how that works.”

Camarota said the education levels of illegal aliens, border crossers, and legal immigrants are largely to blame for the high level of welfare usage by the f0reign-born population in the U.S., noting that new arrivals tend to compete for jobs against America’s poor and working class communities.

In past waves of mass immigration, Camarota said, the U.S. did not have an expansive welfare system. Today’s ever-growing welfare system, coupled with mass illegal and legal immigration levels, is “extremely problematic,” according to Camarota, for American taxpayers.

The RAISE Act — reintroduced in the Senate by Senators Tom Cotton (R-AR), David Perdue (R-GA), and Josh Hawley (R-MO) — would cut legal immigration levels in half and convert the immigration system to favor well-educated foreign nationals, thus relieving American workers and taxpayers of the nearly five-decade-long wave of booming immigration. Currently, mass legal immigration redistributes the wealth of working and middle class Americans to the country’s top earners.

“Virtually none of that existed in 1900 during the last great wave of immigration, when we also took in a number of poor people. We didn’t have a well-developed welfare state,” Camarota continued:

We’re not going to stop [the welfare state] tomorrow. So in that context, bringing in less educated people who are poor is extremely problematic for public coffers, for taxpayers in a way that it wasn’t in 1900 because the roads weren’t even paved between the cities in 1900. It’s just a totally different world. And that’s the point of the RAISE Act is to sort of bring in line immigration policy with the reality say of a large government … and a welfare state. [Emphasis added]

The immigrants are not all coming to get welfare and they don’t immediately sign up, but over time, an enormous fraction sign their children up. It’s likely the case that of the U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants, more than half are signed up for Medicaid — which is our most expensive program. [Emphasis added]

As Breitbart News has reported, U.S. households headed by foreign-born residents use nearly twice the welfare of households headed by native-born Americans.

Every year the U.S. admits more than 1.5 million foreign nationals, with the vast majority deriving from chain migration. In 2017, the foreign-born population reached a record high of 44.5 million. By 2023, the Center for Immigration Studies estimates that the legal and illegal immigrant population of the U.S. will make up nearly 15 percent of the entire U.S. population.

Another line they cut into: Illegals get free public housing as impoverished Americans wait

Want some perspective on why so many blue sanctuary cities have so many homeless encampments hovering around?

Try the reality that illegal immigrants are routinely given free public housing by the U.S., based on the fact that they are uneducated, unskilled, and largely unemployable. Those are the criteria, and now importing poverty has never been easier. Shockingly, this comes as millions of poor Americans are out in the cold awaiting that housing that the original law was intended to help.

Thus, the tent cities, and by coincidence, the worst of these emerging shantytowns are in blue sanctuary cities loaded with illegal immigrants - Orange County, San Francisco, San Diego, Seattle, New York...Is there a connection? At a minimum, it's worth looking at.

The Trump administration's Department of Housing and Urban Development is finally trying to put a stop to it as 1.5 million illegals prepare to enter the U.S. this year, and one can only wonder why they didn't do it yesterday.

According to a report in the Washington Times:

The plan would scrap Clinton-era regulations that allowed illegal immigrants to sign up for assistance without having to disclose their status.

Under the new Trump rules, not only would the leaseholder using public housing have to be an eligible U.S. person, but the government would verify all applicants through the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) database, a federal system that’s used to weed illegal immigrants out of other welfare programs.

Those already getting HUD assistance would have to go through a new verification, though it would be over a period of time and wouldn’t all come at once.

“We’ve got our own people to house and need to take care of our citizens,” an administration official told The Washington Times. “Because of past loopholes in HUD guidance, illegal aliens were able to live in free public housing desperately needed by so many of our own citizens. As illegal aliens attempt to swarm our borders, we’re sending the message that you can’t live off of American welfare on the taxpayers’ dime.”

The Times notes that the rules are confusingly contradictary, and some illegal immigrant families are getting full rides based on just one member being born in the U.S. The pregnant caravaner who calculatingly slipped across the U.S. in San Diego late last year, only to have her baby the next day, now, along with her entire family, gets that free ride on government housing. Plus lots of cheesy news coverage about how heartwarming it all is. That's a lot cheaper than any housing she's going to find back in Tegucigalpa.

Migrants would be almost fools not to take the offering.

The problem of course is that Americans who paid into these programs, and the subset who find themselves in dire circumstances, are in fact being shut out.

The fill-the-pews Catholic archbishops may love to tout the virtues of illegal immigrants and wave signs about getting 'justice" for them, but the hard fact here is that these foreign nationals are stealing from others as they take this housing benefit under legal technicalities. That's not a good thing under anyone's theological law. But hypocrisy is comfortable ground for the entire open borders lobby as they shamelessly celebrate lawbreaking at the border, leaving the impoverished of the U.S. out cold.

The Trump administration is trying to have this outrage fixed by summer. But don't imagine it won't be without the open-borders lawsuits, the media sob stories, the leftist judges, and the scolding clerics.

Los Angeles County Pays Over a Billion in Welfare to Illegal Aliens Over Two Years

BY MASOOMA HAQ

In 2015 and 2016, Los Angeles County paid nearly $1.3 billion in welfare funds to illegal aliens and their families. That figure amounts to 25 percent of the total spent on the county’s entire needy population, according to Fox News.

The state of California is home to more illegal aliens than any other state in the country. Approximately one in five illegal aliens lives in California, Pew reported.

Approximately a quarter of California’s 4 million illegal immigrants reside in Los Angeles County. The county allows illegal immigrant parents with children born in the United States to seek welfare and food stamp benefits.

The welfare benefits data acquired by Fox News comes from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services and shows welfare and food stamp costs for the county’s entire population were $3.1 billion in 2015, $2.9 billion in 2016.

The data also shows that during the first five months of 2017, more than 60,000 families received a total of $181 million.

Over 58,000 families received a total of $602 million in benefits in 2015 and more than 64,000 families received a total of $675 million in 2016.

Robert Rector, a Heritage Foundation senior fellow who studies poverty and illegal immigration, told Fox the costs represent “the tip of the iceberg.”

“They get $3 in benefits for every $1 they spend,” Rector said. It can cost the government a total of $24,000 per year per family to pay for things like education, police, fire, medical, and subsidized housing.

In February of 2019, the Los Angeles city council signed a resolution making it a sanctuary city. The resolution did not provide any new legal protections to their immigrants, but instead solidified existing policies.

In October 2017, former California governor Jerry Brown signed SB 54 into law. This bill made California, in Brown’s own words, a “sanctuary state.” The Justice Department filed a lawsuit against the State of California over the law. A federal judge dismissed that suit in July. SB 54 took effect on Jan. 1, 2018.

According to Center for Immigration Studies, “The new law does many things: It forbids all localities from cooperating with ICE detainer notices, it bars any law enforcement officer from participating in the popular 287(g) program, and it prevents state and local police from inquiring about individuals’ immigration status.”

Some counties in California have protested its implementation and joined the Trump administration’s lawsuit against the state.

California’s campaign to provide public services to illegal immigrants did not end with the exit of Jerry Brown. His successor, Gavin Newsom, is just as focused as Brown in funding programs for illegal residents at the expense of California taxpayers.

California’s budget earmarks millions of dollars annually to the One California program, which provides free legal assistance to all aliens, including those facing deportation, and makes California’s public universities easier for illegal-alien students to attend.

According to the Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration on United States Taxpayers 2017 report, for the estimated 12.5 million illegal immigrants living in the country, the resulting cost is a $116 billion burden on the national economy and taxpayers each year, after deducting the $19 billion in taxes paid by some of those illegal immigrants.

BLOG: MOST FIGURES PUT THE NUMBER OF ILLEGALS IN THE U.S. AT ABOUT 40 MILLION. WHEN THESE PEOPLE ARE HANDED AMNESTY, THEY ARE LEGALLY ENTITLED TO BRING UP THE REST OF THEIR FAMILY EFFECTIVELY LEAVING MEXICO DESERTED.

New data from the U.S. Census Bureau shows that more than 22 million non-citizens now live in the United States.
