Nigeria’s police chief on Thursday ordered around-the-clock enhanced security at public venues across the country throughout the Easter weekend, fearing religious violence in a country where Christians are under almost constant attack.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun said through a spokesman that extra resources would be devoted to maintaining security at “worship centers, train stations, highways, motor parks, airports, waterways, recreation centers, banks, and other financial institutions, as well as other critical infrastructures and public spaces.”

“The IGP also assures all travelers who will be visiting their hometowns and other places within the country for the festivities of adequate security irrespective of the medium of such travels whether by road, air, waterways, or rail, as deployments have been increased and visibility patrols intensified in all areas including aerial patrol and surveillance,” Egbetokun’s office said.

“As we commemorate the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, let us come together in unity and vigilance to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for all,” the statement said.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) said on Thursday it would deploy 35,000 personnel to protect both Easter crowds and “critical national assets and infrastructure,” including operatives from its anti-vandalism, special intelligence, special female, and special forces squads.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) pushed back against an informal curfew proposed for the Ifeland region to minimize the risk of violence during the Easter holiday. CAN said it had received assurances from Muslim and tribal leaders that the weekend would be peaceful.

Speaking at the dedication of a new church last weekend, Plateau state governor Caleb Mutfwang made an appeal for peace in the “Middle Belt” or central Nigeria, where Muslim herders from the Fulani tribes have slaughtered hundreds of Christians.

“My prayer as I have trusted God for the people of Plateau State, trust God that all of us that God has deposited in the Middle Belt of Nigeria will come together,” Mutfwang said.

International Christian Concern (ICC) listed Nigeria as the most dangerous place in the world to be Christian in its 2023 “Persecutors of the World” report.

ICC noted that Nigerian Christians face violent persecution from the Fulani in the Middle Belt and from the ISIS-aligned terrorists of Boko Haram in the north. As for the Nigerian government, 12 of its northern states have adopted Muslim sharia law, while the national government often “turns a blind eye” to Christian persecution.

“The government’s inaction on the matter is inexcusable and the violence will only worsen unless the international community steps in,” ICC president Jeff King said when the 2023 persecution report was released in November.

Despite the grim state of religious freedom in Nigeria, the Biden administration removed it from the State Department’s list of oppressive countries in 2021, prompting outrage among human rights groups and Christian leaders.

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) wrote a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken in early March to ask why Nigeria was not restored to the list of Countries of Particular Concern (CPC) for religious freedom after a horrifying massacre of Christians during the Christmas season.

“As you know, violence against Christians in Nigeria runs rampant. Reports estimate that roughly 5,000 Nigerian Christians have been murdered in religiously-motivated violence in each of the last two years,” Hawley wrote in the letter, which was also signed by Sens. Mike Braun (R-IN) and Marco Rubio (R-FL).

“Apparently, your Department believes these repeated, violent attacks against Christians can be attributed to climate change. That is absurd,” Hawley wrote.

Two Nigerian clerics, Bishop Wilfred Chikpa Anagbe of the Makurdi diocese and Rev. Remigius Ihyula, were similarly outraged in February when the Biden administration dismissed anti-Christian persecution as “eco-violence” driven by a shortage of fertile land.

“Tell me, how does climate change drive someone to hack a person to death with a machete?” Father Ihyula asked. “How do you say because you have issues of climate change or economic inequalities that you go killing people in this manner? Butchering people and destroying everything. Does that make sense?”

Ihyula said the true cause of the violence against Nigerian Christians is “Islamic jihad,” and the region’s Islamic extremists are not shy about admitting it. He pointed out that if the problem was a climate-driven scramble for resources, the Fulani Muslims would be negotiating for grazing and watering rights with Christian farmers, not slaughtering them and burning their villages down.

Bishop Anagbe asked how Nigerian leaders could “sit and watch others killing us” without taking action.

“All these years, over a decade now, nobody has been arrested, nobody has been prosecuted,” he complained.

THEY LET THE MUSLIMS IN BECAUSE THEY WANTED 'CHEAP' LABOR. THE MUSLIMS SIGNED UP FOR WELFARE, STARTED BREEDING ANCHOR BABIES AND ISLAMIC TERRORISM SOARED.

AMERICA HAS DONE THE SAME WITH MEXICO. COME, LOOT, VOTE DEMOCRAT FOR MORE!

Atheist Richard Dawkins Says He Would Choose Christianity over Islam ‘Every Single Time’, Calls Himself a ‘Cultural Christian’

Pre-eminent atheist Richard Dawkins said on Easter Sunday that he identifies as a “cultural Christian” and that he prefers to live in a country based on Christian principles and would not want the UK to become an Islamic nation.

Emeritus fellow of New College, Oxford and God Delusion author Richard Dawkins said that he identifies with Christian society and that he would choose it over other countries based around other faiths, namely Islamic nations.

Speaking to LBC Radio’s Rachel Johnson — the sister of former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson — Dawkins said on Sunday that he was “slightly horrified” that Ramadan lights were put up in London instead of Easter ones.

“I do think that we are a culturally Christian country, I call myself a cultural Christian. I’m not a believer, but there is a distinction between being a believing Christian and being a cultural Christian. I love hymns and Christmas carols. I sort of feel at home in the Christian ethos. I feel that we are a Christian country.

Dawkins noted that the number of Christians is declining in the UK, which he said he is “happy with”, but said that he would lament the loss of cathedrals and other cultural aspects of living in a Christian country.

“I think it would matter, certainly if we substituted any other religion, that would be truly dreadful.”

When pressed by Johnson on whether he saw the decline in church attendance and the increasing numbers of Islamic mosques being built across Europe as a problem, the professor said: “Yes I do”.

Stating that he would have to choose his words “carefully” — perhaps in light of the attack on fellow New Atheist Salmon Rushdie in 2022 by a radical Islamist — Dawkins said: “If I had to choose between Christianity and Islam, I would choose Christianity every single time”.

“It seems to be a fundamentally decent religion that I think Islam is not,” he added.

Questioned as to what he felt was indecent about the Muslim faith, Dawkins said: “There is an active hostility to women which is promoted, which I think, is promoted by the holy books of Islam… I’m not talking about individual Muslims, who are quite different.

“But the doctrines of Islam, the Hadiths and the Qur’an are fundamentally hostile to women, hostile to gays and I find that I like to live in a culturally Christian country although I do not believe a single word of the Christian faith.”

ISIS-Linked Egyptian Arrested over Terror Plot on Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris

An allegedly ISIS-tied Egyptian man was arrested in France in connection to a suspected terrorist plot against the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris.

French officers of the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI) arrested a 62-year-old Egyptian with reported links to the so-called Islamic State in Paris earlier this month on suspicion of planning an attack on the Notre Dame Cathedral.

While his arrest was initially reported at the time, the suspected terrorist’s ties to ISIS, his nationality, and his alleged planned attack on the medieval Catholic cathedral, which is still being repaired after being badly damaged in a 2019 fire, were first reported on Sunday by Le Journal du Dimanche.

Following his arrest, the suspected jihadist was indicted for “criminal terrorist association” and was placed under pre-trial detention on March 8th.

The French Ministry of the Interior said: “Everything is done to ensure the safety of the French. The prefects received very precise instructions; radicalized people are closely monitored. We have strengthened the security of places of worship and educational buildings, but also of transport and public buildings as well as festive, cultural and religious gatherings.

“Since 2015, the DGSI workforce has been doubled, increasing to more than 5,000 agents. The budget has also been significantly revised upwards. At the same time, 10,000 police officers and gendarmes are mobilized to exercise increased surveillance of places at risk.”

The disclosure comes as French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal announced last week that the terror threat system had been raised to its highest level following the ISIS-claimed attack on a Moscow concert hall that left at least 143 people dead.

The terror threat level was previously raised to its highest level in October after a teacher was stabbed to death by a Chechnyan migrant amid calls from the Palestinian terror group Hamas called for a global “day of jihad” in the wake of the October 7th terror attacks on Israel.

Demonstrating the scale of the Islamist terror threat in France, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin said on Monday that intelligence and law enforcement officials in the country have foiled terror posts nearly “every month”. He added that “all countries are affected” and that the “Islamist threat can affect everyone at any time.”

On Friday, French broadcaster BFMTV reported that Darmanin had ordered local officials to deploy police officers to protect Catholic and Protestant churches over the weekend, given that Christian places of worship serve as a likely target for Muslim terrorists.

WATCH: ‘Free Palestine’, Climate Protesters Interrupt Easter Vigil at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, NYC

Protesters shouting “Free Palestine!” and demanding action on climate change interrupted an Easter Vigil on Saturday evening at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City.

The protest was captured on the cathedral’s live stream of the service on YouTube, about 47 minutes into the program, during a reading in Spanish.

The woman conducting the reading raised her voice slightly to overcome the noisy outburst, never losing her composure.

The protest was eventually drowned out by singing in the cathedral, as the congregation joined the choir in singing “Hallelujah.”

As Fox News noted, “many in attendance did not acknowledge the outburst.”

The mass was led by Cardinal Timothy Dolan.

As Breitbart News reported in December, pro-Palestinian protests have targeted symbols of Christianity around the world, disrupting Christmas tree lightings and other Christmas celebrations.

Local Spectrum News NY 1 reported that pro-Palestinian protesters had also targeted St. Patrick’s Cathedral during Christmas mass in December.

On Easter Sunday, Christians in Israel are marking the holy day with processions in Jerusalem and other traditional observances, despite the ongoing war.

A cadre of pro-Palestinian protesters chained themselves to the USNS Harvey Milk gangway in San Francisco, believing the ship would be delivering weapons to Israel.

“The group gathered to protest the Friday morning ceremony celebrating the ship and its namesake at Pier 30/32 attended by U.S. House Emerita Nancy Pelosi and San Francisco Mayor London Breed, along with other local and military officials,” noted CBS News.

“The Arab Resource and Organizing Center was one of the groups that set up the protest and claimed that the ship was bound for Gaza to support Israel’s military effort,” it added. “The group stood in the rain outside the fence set up along the perimeter when some protesters scaled the fence and made their way to the ship.”

Police were on the scene to monitor “observed crimes being committed” and later confirmed that 10 adult females and four adult males were arrested for the charges of trespassing. . Bolt cutters were used to remove the chains that protesters used to attach themselves to the gangway.

Video of the protests went viral on social media.
