Illegal Alien Gets 7 Years in Prison for Killing Father of Two, Corey Cottrell

An illegal alien who killed father of two, Corey Cottrell, has been sentenced to seven years in Illinois prison after previously being freed on bail.
As Breitbart News has chronicled, 27-year-old illegal alien Jose Rodriguez from Honduras pleaded guilty in January to running a red light on June 22, 2019, in Illinois, causing him to hit and kill 39-year-old Corey Cottrell.
Cottrell, the father of two daughters, was riding his motorcycle at the time to visit his mother Kathy. Rodriguez — given a driver’s license by the sanctuary state of Illinois — fled the scene of the accident under suspicious circumstances and turned himself in the following day.
On Tuesday, Rodriguez was sentenced to just seven years in prison for killing Cottrell and fleeing the scene of the accident. Sources have said Rodriguez has been charged with an unrelated crime as well.

Though the Cottrell’s considered the case a murder, Rodriguez has only ever charged with fleeing the scene of an accident with a death involved, speeding, and running a red light.
Bail for Rodriguez was originally set at $1,000,000. However, McLean County Judge Scott Drazewski lowered Rodriguez’s bail to $100,000, allowing him to be freed by paying only a small portion of that price.
After being released from McLean County custody, Rodriguez was taken into custody by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency. Rodriguez was eventually allowed by federal immigration Judge Samuel Coleto to be freed from ICE custody on November 15.
Even after Rodriguez pleaded guilty in January to felony hit-and-run involving a death, he was allowed to remain out of jail free on bail.
The Cottrell family suspects Rodriguez was a beneficiary of the catch and release program, wherein the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) once detained and released hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens and border-crossers into the interior of the U.S. every year. The program has largely been ended by the Trump administration.
Despite being ordered deported in 2013 and 2014, the illegal alien was never deported. The Cottrell family also suspects Rodriguez was drunk when he hit and allegedly killed Corey.
Corey leaves behind his mother Kathy, his 11- and 14-year-old daughters Karina and Alexandra, his sister Shanna, his grandmother Virginia, as well as his aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
This year was the first Father’s Day that Cottrell’s daughters spent without their dad.

Border Patrol Expels 41K Migrants Under Coronavirus Protocols

U.S. Border Patrol agents expelled more than 41,000 migrants who illegally crossed since March 21 under Title 42 Coronavirus protection protocols. The expulsions followed the apprehension of more than 67,000 in March, April, and May.
“On March 21, 2020 the President, in accordance with Title 42 of the United States Code Section 265, determined that by reason of existence of COVID-19 in Mexico and Canada, there is a serious danger of the further introduction of COVID-19 into the United States; that prohibition on the introduction of persons or property, in whole or in part, from Mexico and Canada is required in the interest of public health,” U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said in a written statement. “To help prevent the introduction of COVID-19 into border facilities and into the United States, persons subject to the order will not be held in congregate areas for processing and instead will immediately be expelled to their country of last transit.”
In April and May, Border Patrol agents apprehended 37,514 migrants who illegally crossed the border from Mexico, according to the CBP Southwest Border Migration Report. Under Title 42 authority, agents expelled 34,563 to Mexico. An additional 6,928 were expelled in the final 10 days of March.
Migrants apprehended by Border Patrol agents along the southwest border are medically screened and subjected to a criminal background investigation before being expelled to Mexico, Border Patrol officials previously told Breitbart Texas.
The impact of the Title 42 protocols on migrants being held in custody or released into the United States has been dramatic.
“CBP had more than 3,400 individuals in custody in early March and now averages around 100 at any given time because of this initiative and other travel restrictions,” officials told Breitbart Texas in response to an email inquiry. “For comparison, the daily average number of migrants in CBP custody was 20,000 at the peak of the migration crisis in 2019.”
“By processing in the field and quickly expelling individuals who cross illegally, we protect them, our agents, and the American public from potential exposure to COVID-19,” officials concluded.
Officials said the Title 42 authority “does not apply to persons who should be excepted based on considerations of law enforcement, officer and public safety, humanitarian, or public health interests.”
CBP officials told Breitbart that expulsions under Title 42 do not count as deportations or removal for purposes of prosecution. Migrants can re-enter and be re-expelled multiple times without facing prosecution for illegal re-entry after removal.

The American taxpayers also pay for increased crime, graffiti and trash clean-up.

As Breitbart News has reported, U.S. households headed by foreign-born residents use nearly twice the welfare of households headed by native-born Americans.

Simultaneously, illegal immigration next year is on track to soar to the highest level in a decade, with a potential 600,000 border crossers expected.

 Every illegal alien, over the course of their lifetime, costs American taxpayers about $70,000, Center for Immigration Studies Director of Research Steve Camarota says.
During an interview with SiriusXM Patriot’s Breitbart News Daily, Camarota said his research has revealed the enormous financial burden that illegal immigration has on America’s working and middle class taxpayers in terms of public services, depressed wages, and welfare.
“In a person’s lifetime, I’ve estimated that an illegal border crosser might cost taxpayers … maybe over $70,000 a year as a net cost,” Camarota said. “And that excludes the cost of their U.S.-born children, which gets pretty big when you add that in.”

“Once [an illegal alien] has a child, they can receive cash welfare on behalf of their U.S.-born children,” Camarota explained. “Once they have a child, they can live in public housing. Once they have a child, they can receive food stamps on behalf of that child. That’s how that works.”
Camarota said the education levels of illegal aliens, border crossers, and legal immigrants are largely to blame for the high level of welfare usage by the f0reign-born population in the U.S., noting that new arrivals tend to compete for jobs against America’s poor and working class communities.
In past waves of mass immigration, Camarota said, the U.S. did not have an expansive welfare system. Today’s ever-growing welfare system, coupled with mass illegal and legal immigration levels, is “extremely problematic,” according to Camarota, for American taxpayers.
The RAISE Act — reintroduced in the Senate by Senators Tom Cotton (R-AR), David Perdue (R-GA), and Josh Hawley (R-MO) — would cut legal immigration levels in half and convert the immigration system to favor well-educated foreign nationals, thus relieving American workers and taxpayers of the nearly five-decade-long wave of booming immigration. Currently, mass legal immigration redistributes the wealth of working and middle class Americans to the country’s top earners.
“Virtually none of that existed in 1900 during the last great wave of immigration, when we also took in a number of poor people. We didn’t have a well-developed welfare state,” Camarota continued:
We’re not going to stop [the welfare state] tomorrow. So in that context, bringing in less educated people who are poor is extremely problematic for public coffers, for taxpayers in a way that it wasn’t in 1900 because the roads weren’t even paved between the cities in 1900. It’s just a totally different world. And that’s the point of the RAISE Act is to sort of bring in line immigration policy with the reality say of a large government … and a welfare state. [Emphasis added]
The immigrants are not all coming to get welfare and they don’t immediately sign up, but over time, an enormous fraction sign their children up. It’s likely the case that of the U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants, more than half are signed up for Medicaid — which is our most expensive program. [Emphasis added]

Every year the U.S. admits more than 1.5 million foreign nationals, with the vast majority deriving from chain migration. In 2017, the foreign-born population reached a record high of 44.5 million. By 2023, the Center for Immigration Studies estimates that the legal and illegal immigrant population of the U.S. will make up nearly 15 percent of the entire U.S. population.
