Louie Gohmert Urges House to Ban Democratic Party for Supporting Slavery
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) introduced a privileged resolution on Thursday that calls upon Congress to ban the Democratic Party for supporting slavery and the Confederate States of America, Breitbart News has learned exclusively.
Gohmert released a privileged resolution on Thursday that details the Democratic Party’s history of supporting slavery, the Confederacy, and other racist policies throughout the party’s history. A privileged resolution allows for Gohmert, or any other congressman, to “supersede or interrupt other matters that might be called up or pending before the House.” Reps. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Jody Hice (R-GA), Rand Weber (R-TX), and Andy Harris (R-MD) cosponsored Gohmert’s resolution.
Gohmert’s resolution provides a long list of instances in which the Democratic Party supported slavery, the Confederacy, and racist policies, including:
The Democratic Party Platforms of 1840, 1844, 1848, 1852, and 1856 that states “that all efforts of the abolitionists, or others, made to induce Congress to interfere with questions of slavery . . . are calculated to lead to the most alarming and dangerous consequences; and that all such efforts have an inevitable tendency to diminish the happiness of the people and endanger the stability and permanency of the Union, and ought not to be countenanced by any friend of our political institutions.”
The Democratic Party Platform of 1856 declares that “new states” to the Union should be admitted “with or without domestic slavery, as [the state] may elect.”
The Democratic Party Platform of 1856 declares that “we recognize the right of the people of all the Territories . . . to form a Constitution, with or without domestic slavery.”
The Democratic Party Platform of 1860, in seeking to uphold the Fugitive Slave Law of 1850 that required law enforcement officials to arrest any individual suspected of being a runaway slave, stated that “the enactments of the State Legislatures to defeat the faithful execution of the Fugitive Slave Law are hostile in character, subversive of the Constitution, and revolutionary in their effect.”
The lack of Democratic support for the 14th Amendment, which gave full citizenship to freed slaves. It passed in 1868 with 94 percent Republican support and zero support from Democrats.

The resolution specifically cites the 1902 Constitution of the State of Virginia that disenfranchised about 90 percent of the African American voters at the time, forcibly reducing the number of eligible African American voters from about 147,000 in 1901 to about 10,000 by 1905. The resolution notes that this measure was “supported almost exclusively by Virginia Democrats.”
The administration of President Woodrow Wilson, a Democrat, “began a racial segregation policy for U.S. government employees and, by 1914, the Wilson administration’s Civil Service instituted the requirement that a photograph be submitted with each employment application.”
When the Democratic Party held its national convention in 1924 in New York City at Madison Square Garden, the event was commonly referred to as the “Klan-Bake” due to the influence of the Ku Klux Klan in the party.
Senate Democrats held a 75-calendar day filibuster against the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Former Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV), a known recruiter for the KKK, led the Democrats to oppose civil rights for African Americans.
Democrats “enacted and enforced Jim Crow laws and civil codes that forced segregation and restricted freedoms” for African Americans.
In June, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) ordered the removal of the portraits of four previous Speakers of the House who served in the Confederacy, stating that these portraits “set back our nation’s work to confront and combat bigotry.” However, Gohmert’s resolution notes that the Speakers that Pelosi removed (Robert M.T. Hunter, Howell Cobb, James L. Orr, and Charles F. Crisp) were all Democrats.
Gohmert’s resolution also calls for Pelosi to remove from the House wing of the Capitol of any House office building any item that “names, symbolizes or mentions any political organization or party that has ever held a public position that supported slavery or the Confederacy.”
Gohmert told Breitbart News in an exclusive statement on Thursday that this resolution outlines that a “great portion” of the Democratic Party is “filled with racism and hatred.”
Therefore, Gohmert argued, that because leftists now demand that the country must eliminate “entities symbols, and reminders” of America’s past, then the Democratic Party must change to recognize its “loathsome and bigoted past.”
He explained, “As outlined in the resolution, a great portion of the history of the Democratic Party is filled with racism and hatred. Since people are demanding we rid ourselves of the entities, symbols, and reminders of the repugnant aspects of our past, then the time has come for Democrats to acknowledge their party’s loathsome and bigoted past, and consider changing their party name to something that isn’t so blatantly and offensively tied to slavery, Jim Crow, discrimination, and the Ku Klux Klan.”
“As the country watches violent leftists burn our cities, tear down our statues and call upon every school, military base and city street to be renamed, it is important to note that past atrocities these radicals claim to be so violently offensive were largely committed by members in good standing of the Democratic Party,” Gohmert continued, “Whether it be supporting the most vile forms of racism or actively working against Civil Rights legislation, Democrats in this country perpetuated these abhorrent forms of discrimination and violence practically since their party’s inception.”
“To avoid triggering innocent bystanders by the racist past of the Democratic Party, I would suggest they change their name. That is the standard to which they are holding everyone else, so the name change needs to occur,” Gohmert concluded.

Democrats like California Gov. Gavin Newsom are no longer hiding their sinister and un-American goal to use illegal aliens as a means to steal seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and, by extension, ensure Democrats hold control of the House.
“Counting every person in our country through the Census is a principle so foundational that it is written into our Constitution,” Newsom said in a statement Tuesday. “This latest action by the administration to exclude undocumented immigrants when determining representation in Congress, rooted in racism and xenophobia, is a blatant attack on our institutions and our neighbors.”
America’s worst governor-not-named Cuomo was responding to the news that President Trump signed an executive order that would bar “illegal aliens from the apportionment base following the 2020 Census.”
To any sane individual Trump’s order makes perfect sense.
But Democrats are not sane or decent. They are only power hungry.
In the U.S. Senate, no matter how big or small your state’s population, each of the 50 states is allowed two senators. Our Founders wanted to ensure every state enjoyed congressional power, not just the populous states.
The House of Representatives, however, is based on population. With only 435 U.S. House seats available, these seats are apportioned according to population. The more Americans in your state, the more seats in the House you obtain.
But Democrats like Newsom believe California’s apportionment of House seats should not be based on how many American citizens choose to live in his state; he believes his and his state’s ongoing lawlessness, his role in the confederacy of states that welcome illegals by providing sanctuary (including free health insurance, welfare benefits, and education), that his incentivizing a flood of illegal aliens, should give his state an edge over those states that do obey the law when it comes to something as important to our democracy as congressional representation.
And it is an edge. With only so many House seats available, if California or another confederate, Democrat-run state manages to grab extra House seats because their illegal alien population gives them that edge, those seats are taken from other states.
What’s more, one of the motives behind apportioning House seats based on population is that it incentivizes that particular state to be the kind of state where people want to live. But as we all know, a countless number of Democrat-run states, states like California and New York, are so poorly managed by said Democrats, their population is decreasing.
But look at what the Democrats are doing to hold on to their House seats… Instead of making the changes necessary to attract law-abiding Americans (lower taxes, less regulation, control crime), they are choosing instead to make their states attractive to illegal aliens.
There are all kinds of reason Democrats approve of illegal aliens. First off, they see these illegals as the key to permanent power if amnesty and citizenship is ever granted — which is certain to happen if Joe Biden beats Trump and Democrats capture the Senate. The first thing Democrats will do after a 2020 victory — which looks very likely right now — is kill the Senate filibuster, which means whatever Democrats want passed into law will be passed with just 51 Senate votes. Goodbye minority rights, hello amnesty, citizenship, and voting rights for millions and millions of illegal Democrats.
But now we know another reason Democrats choose to flood our country with illegals — choose to hurt law-abiding Americans with the crime, lost jobs, overcrowded schools, and lower wages that come with illegal aliens… So they can game the House apportionment system, which increases the likelihood Democrats hold the House, which cheats the more conservative states that respect the Rule of Law.

Business, Progressives Ally to Sneak Illegals into Licensed Jobs
Millions of illegal migrants and illegal workers should be allowed to take licensed jobs, such as electrician, welder, lab technician, therapist, or nurse, according to legislation pushed by progressives, universities, and business groups.
Their campaign advanced on June 29 when the New Jersey Senate passed a bill saying illegals can get trade licenses. “Lawful presence in the United States shall not be required to obtain a professional or occupational license, provided that the applicant meets all other requirements for licensure,” according to the bill, which is numbered S2455.
Some Republicans backed the Democrat-sponsored bill, but it has not been approved by the House.
The bill “would blur the distinctions between people who are in the country legally and those who are here illegally,” said John Miano, an immigration lawyer with the Immigration Reform Law Institute.
For example, illegals could get licenses for construction skills, get their work certified by state and local inspectors, and then get paid in cash under the table by contractors, so freezing out skilled American workers, Miano said.
Each year, roughly 500,000 foreign graduates work permits via the federal Curricular Practical Training and Optional Practical Training (OPT) programs. Many of these migrants work in low-wage software jobs, so forcing down salaries for American professionals in New Jersey and many other states. But many more migrants would also be willing to work as licensed electricians or plumbers before returning home with a fortune in home-country currency, Miano said.
The list of allowable OPT jobs includes “Electrical, Electronic and Communications Engineering Technology/Technician,” and “Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineering Technology/Technician.”
The bill “opens the door to many scams,” Miano added.
For example, many foreign workers would be eager to work part of each year in New Jersey construction sites and be paid under the table, he said. If the bill passes, “I can bring in a [foreign] person on B-1 [legal visitor] who has a plumbing license in New Jersey, and then get six months’ work out of him because his signed permits would be just as valuable as anyone else’s.”
The New Jersey bill is boosted by a roster of progressives, including Make the Road New Jersey, the ACLU-NJ, New Jersey Policy Perspective, Wind of the Spirit, and academics from St Peter’s University and Rutgers Law.
“New Jersey stands to benefit when more people are able to work in health care, education, and other key frontline professions where there are labor shortages,” said a statement from illegal immigrant and DACA recipient Erika Martinez, of Make the Road New Jersey.

“As New Jersey faces an unprecedented public health crisis, and a dearth of health care and other essential professionals to meet the need, it is all the more critical that S2455 move forward without delay,” said the statement which also included support from New Jersey Association of Mental Health and Addiction Agencies, and Rutgers University – Newark.
“This is an important step toward ending discrimination based on immigration status,” said Vineeta Kapahi, a policy analyst at New Jersey Policy Perspective.
The push to allow migrants to get licenses jobs is supported by FWD.us, which is an advocacy group for West Coast investors, including Bill Gates and Brad Smith, the President of Microsoft.
“Allowing immigrants to earn appropriate licensure could also help address worsening labor shortages challenging critical fields like teaching and nursing, fields in which a third of DACA recipients want to work,” FWD.us claimed in December 2019.
“Congress should enact legislation that affirmatively prohibits the denial of federal and state professional, commercial, and business licenses based on immigration status,” said a September 2019 report by the Presidents’ Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration. The 2019 report was also endorsed by FWD.us and by a progressive advocacy group for DACA immigrants, dubbed United We Dream.

Business groups have been quietly pushing this licenses-for-illegals campaign for several years, according to the Presidents’ Alliance report:
In recent years, Congress engaged in a variety of bipartisan efforts to expand access to licenses to non-qualified immigrants. During the Senate Judiciary markup of S.744, the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Reform Act of 2013, the committee, by voice vote and without controversy, adopted an amendment that would prohibit the federal government and states from denying licenses based on immigration status to any individual who held an EAD. The KIDS Act of 2014, then-House Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s legislation, to provide relief to immigrant youth, contained similar provisions. Most recently, H.R.6, the Dream and Promise Act of 2019 contained language re-affirming that conditional permanent residents (CPRs) would be eligible for licenses.
The business groups are making quiet progress amid little pushback from groups that believe they champion the pocketbook interests of ordinary Americans. The alliance report said:
At least twelve states—Arkansas, California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, South Dakota, Utah, West Virginia and Wyoming—enacted legislation to reduce barriers for immigrants, including DACA recipients, to obtain licenses. Other states undertook administrative or regulatory action. California expanded licenses to all undocumented immigrants; Florida and Illinois expanded access to law licenses for DACA recipients, while Wyoming rescinded that U.S. citizenship be a requirement for bar admission; Nebraska expanded access to all occupational licenses for DACA recipients; Indiana expanded occupational licensing in over 70 professions for DACA recipients; and New York, through the Board of Regents, expanded professional licenses and teacher certifications to DACA recipients.

Earlier Tuesday, President Trump signed the order, saying the memorandum is designed to bar “illegal aliens from the apportionment base following the 2020 Census.”
The memorandum has sparked legal challenges as it follows the Department of Commerce losing a Supreme Court case last year where it attempted to include a question about citizenship status on the 2020 census.
Still, the memorandum said that the constitution does not require undocumented immigrants to be counted for the purpose of apportionment of the House of Representatives.
“The discretion delegated to the executive branch to determine who qualifies as an ‘inhabitant’ includes authority to exclude from the apportionment base aliens who are not in lawful immigration status,” the memorandum states. “For the purpose of the reapportionment of Representatives following the 2020 census, its is the policy of the United States to exclude from the apportionment base aliens who are not in a lawful immigration status under the Immigration and Nationality Act… Excluding these illegal aliens from the apportionment base is more consonant with the principles of representative democracy underpinning our system of government.”

Exclusive–Steve Camarota: Every Illegal Alien Costs Americans $70K Over Their Lifetime
Every illegal alien, over the course of their lifetime, costs American taxpayers about $70,000, Center for Immigration Studies Director of Research Steve Camarota says.
During an interview with SiriusXM Patriot’s Breitbart News Daily, Camarota said his research has revealed the enormous financial burden that illegal immigration has on America’s working and middle class taxpayers in terms of public services, depressed wages, and welfare.
“In a person’s lifetime, I’ve estimated that an illegal border crosser might cost taxpayers … maybe over $70,000 a year as a net cost,” Camarota said. “And that excludes the cost of their U.S.-born children, which gets pretty big when you add that in.”

“Once [an illegal alien] has a child, they can receive cash welfare on behalf of their U.S.-born children,” Camarota explained. “Once they have a child, they can live in public housing. Once they have a child, they can receive food stamps on behalf of that child. That’s how that works.”
Camarota said the education levels of illegal aliens, border crossers, and legal immigrants are largely to blame for the high level of welfare usage by the f0reign-born population in the U.S., noting that new arrivals tend to compete for jobs against America’s poor and working class communities.
In past waves of mass immigration, Camarota said, the U.S. did not have an expansive welfare system. Today’s ever-growing welfare system, coupled with mass illegal and legal immigration levels, is “extremely problematic,” according to Camarota, for American taxpayers.
The RAISE Act — reintroduced in the Senate by Senators Tom Cotton (R-AR), David Perdue (R-GA), and Josh Hawley (R-MO) — would cut legal immigration levels in half and convert the immigration system to favor well-educated foreign nationals, thus relieving American workers and taxpayers of the nearly five-decade-long wave of booming immigration. Currently, mass legal immigration redistributes the wealth of working and middle class Americans to the country’s top earners.
“Virtually none of that existed in 1900 during the last great wave of immigration, when we also took in a number of poor people. We didn’t have a well-developed welfare state,” Camarota continued:
We’re not going to stop [the welfare state] tomorrow. So in that context, bringing in less educated people who are poor is extremely problematic for public coffers, for taxpayers in a way that it wasn’t in 1900 because the roads weren’t even paved between the cities in 1900. It’s just a totally different world. And that’s the point of the RAISE Act is to sort of bring in line immigration policy with the reality say of a large government … and a welfare state. The immigrants are not all coming to get welfare and they don’t immediately sign up, but over time, an enormous fraction sign their children up. It’s likely the case that of the U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants, more than half are signed up for Medicaid — which is our most expensive program. [Emphasis added]

Every year the U.S. admits more than 1.5 million foreign nationals, with the vast majority deriving from chain migration. In 2017, the foreign-born population reached a record high of 44.5 million. By 2023, the Center for Immigration Studies estimates that the legal and illegal immigrant population of the U.S. will make up nearly 15 percent of the entire U.S. population.

Delivered a scant forty-one days before Lincoln gave, as he himself put it in his address at Gettysburg, the “last full measure of devotion,” our sixteenth president’s language sings, it soars; it is high poetry. The only other American public figure who has even arguably come close to wielding the English language so profoundly and effectively is Martin Luther King. And it is no coincidence that both men were animated by the same cause, in different iterations.
It was in his Second Inaugural that Lincoln spoke, not just as a skilled political actor, or a poet, but, in a sense, as a prophet. He seemed to have had a unique insight into the heart of the tragedy that was the American Civil War.
I’d been thinking about his ‘wealth piled by the bondsman’s two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil’ observation, and wondering how close to the truth Lincoln had struck. It turns out, in fact, that he had struck very close to the truth.
The common accepted death toll for the American Civil war is 618,000. That figure was recently reliably revised upward to 750,000 . At any rate, I decided to compare that number with the total number of Africans imported as slaves to the continental US throughout her colonial and national history. I was wondering, frankly, whether the life of at least one American taken during the Civil War, of which its proximate cause was the existence and spread of slavery, was balanced out for every African brought here.
“Between 1525 and 1866, in the entire history of the slave trade to the New World, according to the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade Database, 12.5 million Africans were shipped to the New World. 10.7 million survived the dreaded Middle Passage, disembarking in North America, the Caribbean and South America. And how many of these 10.7l milion Africans were shipped directly to North America? Only about 388,000. That’s right: a tiny percentage.”
So, given the death rate of 14.4% of those who did not survive the Middle Passage, that raises the number of slaves destined for American ports to 443,000.
Now I have a rather grim question for you -- is the death of 750,000 Americans, and the maiming of thousands more, as a direct consequence to the presence of slavery in this country, an approximately fair price to pay for the forced importation of 443,000 Africans to America, for two hundred fifty years of unrequited toil, plus another ninety or so years of Jim Crow laws?
Well, this is an issue only God can fairly adjudicate. But it puts things in an entirely new and interesting perspective- for me, at least.
You may be surprised, given recent events, that the condition of black Americans has actually been improving over the last decades. Here’s Kyle Smith writing recently in the New York Post:
"The Economic Policy Institute found that the difference in high school graduation rates between whites and blacks fell from 27 percent in 1962 to 5 percent in 2004. Last fall, the rate of black and Hispanic unemployment hit an all-time low. Since 1980, the percentage of black adults with college degrees has tripled. Life expectancy of white Americans exceeded that of black Americans by more than seven years as of 1970; that gap has been cut in half, to three and a half years. The percentage of black Americans earning more than $75,000 more than doubled (adjusting for inflation) between 1970 and 2014, according to Harvard professor William Julius Wilson, who studies upward mobility among black Americans."
So what’s the problem, one might ask? With all this wonderful progress, why all this recent brouhaha? The answer can be distilled to a couple major factors: 1) the creation of a permanent black underclass thanks to the unintended consequences of civil rights legislation passed in the 1960s which have given economic incentives for fatherless households in the black community, and 2) the steadily advancing agenda of cultural Marxism, which has led to the tsunami of political correctness and the instant shaming and expulsion of liberals and conservatives of principle from positions of power and influence. Throw in the convulsive collective deliverance from three months of, as it turned out, mostly unnecessary lockdown, and you have a perfect blueprint for bad behavior.
Not all of this is bad, of course. Police tactics can always stand scrutiny, since they’re the only ones in a civilization entrusted with the threat of and the use of force to apply local laws effectively. Individuals who have an irrational distaste for people having a different paint job than they do need to do some serious self-reflection.
Is life more difficult for a black man? Well, yes, it is. Much of this is cultural, however, and not racial. It follows from the fact that 40% of violent crimes are committed by 6% of the population, i.e., black males.If that’s “institutional racism” in the view of a lot of rather shallow thinkers, then march until your shoes wear out; it won’t change until crime stats change. And crime stats won’t change until a revolution takes place in the black underclass.
The first rumblings of that revolution are happening even as we speak; there is very slow tectonic shift taking place in the African-American community as black Americans, by ones and twos, by dozens and hundreds, are slowly waking up to the fact that they’ve been had by the Democrats. That they’ve always been had by the Democrats, who were the fiercest opponents to emancipation, the staunchest supporters of Jim Crow, and the steely backbone of the KKK.
Democrats are scared stiff that they’ll lose their African-American constituents. They should be. If they don’t take their party back from the extreme Left and get their act together vis a vis their historic mistreatment of their most loyal demographic, they’ll be shunted off to the sidelines as a semi-permanent minority party. And that’s bad for the republic. One-party rule always is.
