DON'T BLAME US!!! PELOSI AND BIDEN CLAIM BIDEN'S ORCHESTRATED INVASION OF 'CHEAP' LABOR IS NOT THEIR FAULT DESPITE THE FACT THEY'VE HAVE WORKED ON AMERICA'S SURRENDER TO MEXICO FOR 50 FUCKING YEARS!!!

The Biden Administration has been touchy about using the word “crisis” to describe the catastrophic flow of illegal aliens across our border ever since he took office. Most Republicans think it’s because of the Administration’s reluctance to admit failure. More likely, it’s because they don’t see it as a failure at all. In fact, their plans are succeeding – just a little bit more than they had expected.

The Biden Administration intentionally caused a surge of migrants across the border, and it started on the first day of Biden’s presidency. He announced a 100-day “pause” in deportations. That sent an immediate and undeniable signal to people in Mexico, Nicaragua, Honduras, and Guatemala. Migrants understood it as:  “You have 100 days to make it to the United States—if you make it in, you get to stay.”

Biden’s acting DHS Secretary stated at the time that allowing “certain noncitizens ordered deported” to stay in the country “will allow DHS to ensure that its resources are dedicated to responding to the most pressing challenges that the United States faces….”  That was revealed as a lie a few weeks later when the Biden Administration announced new guidelines that dramatically restricted ICE’s ability to deport illegal aliens. Under the new guidelines, it’s extraordinarily difficult for ICE officers to remove anyone who is not a convicted aggravated felon, a member of a gang, or a terrorist. ICE officers aren’t being reassigned to “more pressing challenges” like the acting Secretary claimed. They are literally being forced to sit behind their desks.

ICE officers report that the situation is desperate. They are unable to remove more than 80 percent of the aliens who would have been removed from the country under Trump Administration protocols. Undertaking the removal of a less-threatening illegal alien now requires getting special permission from the anti-enforcement holdovers from the Obama years who now run the agency. And that permission is rarely granted. As a result, morale in the agency is at an all-time low. ICE agents are witnessing the surge of illegal aliens across the border, but their leadership refuses to let them get out of the building to do their jobs.

As if this wasn’t bad enough, the Biden Administration compounded the 100-day pause and the new ICE guidelines with the ending of Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy, which forced asylum applicants to wait in Mexico for their future asylum hearings in American immigration courts. As I have written previously, this was a crucial reform because approximately 90% of the asylum claims are ultimately rejected; consequently, many of the applicants disappear into the fabric of American society and never show up for the hearing. With the end of the “Remain in Mexico” policy, some 25,600 asylum applicants waiting in Mexico were allowed in. And this was on top of the new wave of migrants heading for our border.

A massive 78,000 migrants showed up in January—a ten-year record for the month of January. In February, the number was even bigger—Customs and Border Patrol reported 100,441 encounters. The flow has jumped to an average of more than 3,000 border crossers daily. That’s roughly triple the typical 1,100 a day during the last year of the Trump Administration. And the general rule is that for every one migrant apprehended, another three successfully sneak in illegally. That means that more than half a million additional illegal aliens entered the United States during the first two months of the Biden Administration.

Meanwhile, Border Patrol officers have been taken off of their normal enforcement duties too. Instead of patrolling areas without border wall in order to keep illegal aliens out (which the Trump Administration recognized to be extremely important during a pandemic), Border Patrol officers are now spending their time processing the migrants into the country.

So who benefits from this absurd reality?  First and foremost, the Mexican cartels. They have seen their trafficking numbers triple. And it’s not just human trafficking; it’s drug trafficking too.

But cynical politicians on the Left also benefit. They succeeded in turning California blue over the past two decades by replacing U.S. citizen voters with low-income migrants who vote overwhelmingly Democrat. New Mexico followed, along with Arizona which in the process of flipping. But Texas is the ultimate target.

It’s not an unexpected crisis. It’s a plan that yielded bigger results than the Biden Administration anticipated.

Republicans Blast Biden for Ignoring Border Crisis

Former acting ICE director: Biden ignored warnings about illegal immigration from Trump team

House Republicans criticized President Joe Biden for failing to acknowledge the crisis on the southern border after they visited immigration facilities on Monday.

The Republican delegation, led by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.), surveyed multiple immigration facilities on the border in New Mexico and Texas. Rep. August Pfluger (R., Texas), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, blasted the administration’s response after speaking to immigration officials. He said the conditions on the ground are deteriorating and potentially undermining national security.

"It’s such a shame that the Biden administration won’t call it a crisis … but they’re signaling it [is a crisis] with all the resources that they’re putting into it," Pfluger told the Washington Free Beacon. "Anybody who cares about the security of this country should be doing something, regardless of partisan lines."

In the first two months of the Biden presidency, thousands of aliens have attempted to illegally enter the United States, including unaccompanied minors and families. The Biden administration has revoked Trump-era immigration policies, including the "remain in Mexico" policy that made asylum-seekers wait in Mexico before their immigration hearing. Biden also revoked proposed worker protections that would prevent illegal immigrants with deportation orders from gaining legal employment.

Pfluger said the immigration crisis is making Americans less safe. Sparse resources for border patrol authorities have left holes in border security for human traffickers and other dangerous criminals to exploit. McCarthy said border officials told him they have already detained illegal entrants on federal terror watchlists.

"The number one job of the president is to keep the citizens of this country safe," Pfluger said. "The secretary of state has come out and said that we will be judged on our progress on keeping Americans safe and secure…. You have to ask yourself, are we meeting that metric? I don’t think so."

"There are people who would do bad things in this country and they are incentivized by the lack of strong policy and rhetoric to keep the border and this country safe," Pfluger added.

The White House referred the Free Beacon to comments Department of Homeland Security secretary Alejandro Mayorkas made Tuesday, which offered several policy solutions for the influx at the border but neglected to call the situation a crisis.

"The situation we are currently facing at the southwest border is a difficult one," Mayorkas said. "We are tackling it. We are keeping our borders secure, enforcing our laws, and staying true to our values and principles. We can do so because of the incredible talent and unwavering dedication of our workforce."

Mark Morgan, the former acting ICE director and a Heritage Foundation fellow, told the Free Beacon that Biden’s crisis was completely avoidable. Morgan said he briefed members of the Biden transition team about the ongoing situation at the border, and his recommendations were met with little interest or attention.

"We warned them not only with our words but also with extensive briefings with the transition team. We gave them the facts, the data, the historical analysis, and we told them: If you do what you are saying you are going to do, you are going to create a crisis," Morgan said. "And they ignored it and did it anyway…. It’s a joke."

Rep. Chuck Fleischmann (R., Tenn.), the ranking member overseeing homeland security appropriations, said the aversion to calling the situation a crisis is costing American taxpayers. He said an inability to conduct en masse coronavirus testing, limited resources for border security, and ongoing humanitarian problems have led to a disaster on multiple levels.

"This is a crisis on multiple levels. It’s a humanitarian crisis, a national security crisis, and a coronavirus crisis," Fleischmann said. "It’s unfathomable…. I don’t know what the Biden administration is thinking. They’re either oblivious or they just want it to happen."

GOP Congresswoman to DHS Secretary: If FEMA Was Deployed to the Border, Wouldn’t It Stand to Reason There’s an Emergency on the Border?

(CNSNews.com) - Rep. Kat Cammack (R-Fla.) questioned DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas at a House Homeland Security Committee hearing Wednesday on whether the Federal Emergency Management Administration’s (FEMA) involvement at the border signifies that there is a crisis at the border.
Cammack also asked whether FEMA has enough resources to handle the pandemic, the border crisis, and the upcoming hurricane season.
The congresswoman began her line of questioning by asking the DHS secretary what FEMA stands for.

CAMMACK: Secretary Mayorkas, I know we’ve been in and out of meetings all day, so if this question has been asked previously, I apologize. Can you tell me what FEMA stands for?

MAYORKAS: The Federal Emergency Management Administration.

CAMMACK:  Excellent. So since FEMA has now been deployed to the border, that would stand to reason that there is an emergency on the border, correct?

MAYORKAS: Congresswoman, perhaps you did not hear me—

CAMMACK: A yes or no would suffice.

MAYORKAS: We have a serious challenge at the border, and we are tackling it.

CAMMACK: So FEMA being the emergency management administration, they deal with emergencies, and they are now being deployed to the border, and it’s not an emergency? Is that what I’m hearing?

MAYORKAS: Congresswoman, if you’ll allow me, FEMA, the men and women of FEMA have tremendous capabilities, operational capabilities to address challenges in a series of our mission sets. We--

CAMMACK: I’m glad you said—I’m sorry I have to reclaim my time, because I’m very limited, and I’m glad you said that, because the men and women of FEMA are incredible, and I represent a hurricane-prone state so this is really important to me, especially as the ranking member of the Emergency Preparedness and Response and Recovery Subcommittee, so with everything that we have going on – a global pandemic, a border crisis - with everything happening, does FEMA have the resources necessary to effectively respond to the pandemic, the border crisis, and the upcoming hurricane season in your opinion?

MAYORKAS: Yes.

CAMMACK: Yes, they do? Excellent.

MAYORKAS: Let me share with you a glowing example of that. As I said at the outset the beginning, the president set a goal for FEMA to set up 100 federally supported vaccination centers in 30 days. They stood up 441 in 30 days, and the number is over 900 today. Their capabilities are extraordinary, and I have tremendous confidence in their ability to provide the assistance that they are to Health and Human Services … in handling the issue of unaccompanied children at our Southwest border and other mission sets. Tremendous confidence.

CAMMACK: Excellent, real quick. Talking I know FEMA is great when it comes to standing up infrastructure, but talking about DHS as a whole, and I know you all play a role here. Do you support the walls around the capitol region?

MAYORKAS:  What---are you speaking of the fencing, Congresswoman?

CAMMACK: Yes, the 10-foot wall, fencing with razor wire around it.

MAYORKAS: Congresswoman, that is an issue that I—

CAMMACK: Just a yes or no.

MAYORKAS: Congresswoman, if I may, that is an issue that I have not studied. I’ve left to the security experts with respect to what particular type of physical barriers are best suited for the protection security of the Capitol region.

CAMMACK: I apologize. I know I’m new here, and I know you’re new here, but as secretary of DHS … you’re telling me that you haven’t studied whether or not a 10-foot fence around the Capitol region is necessary as secretary of homeland security?

MAYORKAS: Congresswoman, I have deferred to the experts with respect to the nature of the physical barrier that is most effective in protecting the capitol region. where that barrier should be, whether it should be singular in nature, wherever it is or whether it should vary---

CAMMACK: Secretary Mayorkas, I’m going to reclaim my time, because I think we can both agree that physical barriers do work, but I do want to bring it home a little bit, because I know several of my colleagues have talked about the statistics, the numbers of folks coming over the border, but I just want to bring it home a little bit.

See, I’m from a small town out west, and the month before I was supposed to graduate high school, which was 2006, one of my classmates was kidnapped by an illegal who had been deported multiple times, and I think when you have policies that incentivize folks to come over illegally, and we don’t have the proper mechanisms in place to protect our borders – as you say, FEMA has been deployed, and they are an emergency agency - that kind of impact has resounding effects, so my question to you – her name was Amber Scott, the young lady that was kidnapped by this illegal criminal. How many Ambers have to be kidnapped across America before you will take action?

Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) interrupted to tell Cammack that her time had expired, but the secretary asked if he could answer the congresswoman’s question.

“Congresswoman, I find that question to be extraordinarily disrespectful, disrespectful not only to me, but disrespectful to the men and women of the Department of Homeland Security and to all the frontline personnel throughout this country who dedicate themselves to the safety and security of the American people,” Mayorkas said.

Cammack responded, by saying, “I’m sorry that you feel that way. I’m sorry that you feel that way.  I’m sure the American people feel that way about the border situation they’re facing right now.”

Watch Live: DHS Mayorkas Defends His Side-Door, Max-Migration Plans

1:41

President Joe Biden’s homeland defense secretary — Alejandro Mayorkas — faces a House oversight hearing today, where he will defend his plans to expand immigration levels by opening side doors in the nation’s immigration law.

On Tuesday, Mayorkas outlined his plan to expand immigration above the roughly one million immigrants annually scheduled by Congress.

“For years, the asylum system has been badly in need of reengineering,” said the March 16 statement by Mayorkas. He continued:

In addition to improving the process by which unaccompanied children are placed with family or sponsors, we will be issuing a new regulation shortly and taking other measures to implement the long-needed systemic reforms.  We will shorten from years to months the time it takes to adjudicate an asylum claim while ensuring procedural safeguards and enhancing access to counsel.

Mayorkas is a lawyer and also a strong supporter of the unpopular claim the United States is a “Nation of Immigrants,” not of Americans. So he can argue his immigration expansion plans complies with the nation’s complex and loopholed immigration law, major parts of which have been written by agency regulators and pro-migration judges. Mayorkas wrote:

We are keeping our borders secure, enforcing our laws, and staying true to our values and principles …

I came to this country as an infant, brought by parents who understood the hope and promise of America.  Today, young children are arriving at our border with that same hope.  We can do this.

Pelosi Says Joe Biden Blameless for Border Crisis: He’s ‘Not Quite Two Months’ in Office

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) admitted Wednesday there is a crisis at the southwest border, but exonerated President Joe Biden from any and all blame due to his short tenure of office.

“The president has been in office not quite two months,” Pelosi said during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

“They are addressing it and it will improve,” she said confidently, without offering any evidence to support her claim. She continued  “we are all impatient” when it comes to unaccompanied children at the border.

“As far as the children are concerned, you can imagine me as a mother of five every minute that a parent is separated from a child to me is a crisis,” Pelosi said. “So we want this to move along expeditiously.”

As Breitbart News reported, the crisis at the southern border has been growing for weeks and is now attracting attention on a broader scale as more and more children are arriving on their own.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) told Breitbart News on Tuesday that Biden’s “open border policy” and promises of amnesty are an “invitation” for illegal immigration, human smuggling, and sex trafficking operations run by transnational criminal cartels.

“What we are seeing is a true surge at the border,” Blackburn said on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow. “It is a crisis, and this is a crisis of the Biden administration’s making.

“When President Biden basically said our border is open — you’re not going to be deported, you’re not going to be turned away — people saw that as receiving an engraved invitation to come to the U.S. to get in line and try to get the benefits.”

Biden made his no-deportations promise by pledging “nobody will be deported” from the United States until they commit a felony under his national immigration plan:

Pelosi rejected the notion such Biden policies were a “pull factor” for migrants to come to the U.S. She said people should seek asylum in the United States if they are seeking safety from persecution.

“If they have a well-founded fear of persecution, yes it is agreeable,” Pelosi said. “We have to address the causes of this migration … if we can help them there in our hemisphere that would be a good thing. People generally like to stay home.”

Pelosi appeared to prove Cotton’s point Sunday, when she told ABC that FEMA is going to the border in order “to help facilitate” the transfer of illegal alien children “into family homes”:

"I'm so pleased that the president, as a temporary measure, has sent FEMA to the border in order to help facilitate the children going from one — the 72-hour issue into where they are cared for as they are transferred into family homes or homes that are safe for them to be.”

Sen. Cotton: Biden’s Not Deploying FEMA to Stop Illegals, But to ‘Expedite Them, Wave Them in Even Faster’

By Craig Bannister | March 15, 2021 | 4:40pm EDT

The Biden administration isn’t sending the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to the southwest border in order to secure it, but to help and encourage illegal aliens to relocate to the U.S. even faster, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) said Monday.

“They’re deploying FEMA to expedite” illegal immigration, Sen. Cotton told Fox News:

“They're not deploying FEMA to secure the border, to try to finish the wall, or to stop those migrants from crossing. They're deploying FEMA to expedite them, to wave them in even faster and give them a bus ticket and a plane ticket and send them wherever they want to go in the United States.

“That is the Biden border crisis."

Sen. Cotton was responding to comments House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) made to ABC earlier in the day, in which she claimed that Biden “inherited a broken system at the border.”

"At no point in that rambling, incoherent answer did Nancy Pelosi even come close to expressing a rational thought about what's happening at the border,” Sen. Cotton said. “What they inherited from the Trump administration was a border that was closed. We were building a wall and we were turning away all migrants who had no right to cross into our country.”

Noting that border crossing have increased every month since the election, Sen. Cotton attributed the current border crisis to “Joe Biden's promises of amnesty and open borders and free health care for illegals during the campaign.”

The left’s two big albatrosses – Biden and Pelosi

By Patricia McCarthy

One has to wonder, do those on the left, including the media, actually think that Joe Biden is a viable candidate for president?  Do they not realize that Nancy Pelosi is as senile as Joe? Like Joe, she often slurs her words, suffers brain freezes mid-sentence and spews gibberish.  Biden is life-long corruptocrat, a known plagiarist, a pathological liar and a truly mean and evil man.  You can catch a glimpse of  just how mean in the film about Clarence Thomas; it was Biden who grilled him mercilessly during the hearings over Anita Hill’s phony allegations. Biden is a racist as well.  Pelosi is a life-long power-mad lunatic.  She has allowed her own district to dissolve into a homeless camp with all the attendant problems – discarded needles, feces on the streets and sidewalks, and an ever-escalating crime wave.  Smash and grab car burglaries occur by the minute in San Feancisco and there are no consequences for the perpetrators if caught.   Like Sen. Dianne Feinstein,  Pelosi and her husband are millionaires several times over; they’ve become rich because both have been in Congress for so many years.  They all get rich on insider information.  Joe Biden goes further; we all know he used a billion dollars in U.S. aid as leverage to get a Ukrainian prosecutor fired because he was investigating his son.  John Kerry was in on that bit of bribery.  He is as low a form of life as Biden.

And yet, at the moment, Biden is their candidate and Pelosi is their Speaker who embarrasses herself every time she opens her mouth, as does Biden.  Both of them belong in a long-term care facility for the aged.  That the Democrats consider either of these pols a credit to their party is proof of their willful blindness.  Why do they not see what everyone outside of their party can see?  That these two people are way past their sell-by date.  How is Joe going to debate President Trump? He is unable to utter a coherent sentence or answer a simple question.  Pelosi submitted a $3 trillion spending bill that is simply a joke.  Biden has vowed to pick a “woman of color” as his running mate.  Woe be unto him if he doesn’t.

As for the left’s “believe all women” mantra, that went out the window the moment Tara Reade accused Biden of sexual assault.  Reade’s allegations are infinitely more credible than Christine Blasey-Ford’s fabricated accusations against a high school-aged Brett Kavanaugh, but Democrats are so self-unaware, they don’t recognize their own gross hypocrisy.  This time Reade is “making it up.” See Ami Horowitz’ recent video.   Blasey-Ford most likely never met Justice Kavanaugh.  Reade did work in Biden’s office, did report his behavior and tell others at the time.  But the Dems believed Blasey-Ford and don’t believe Reade.  Go figure. Denial is a dangerous and mystifying psychological defense mechanism and the Democrat party is in denial about the mental capacity of its two most prominent “leaders.”

Donald Trump has warned our federal government about the dangers China represents to the US since the 1980s.  He was right and since he took office he has tried to rectify the horrific trade imbalance.  No one can refute the fact that China purposely unleashed the covid virus upon the world but Nancy Pelosi calls Trump’s focus on China “a diversion.”  Is she really that clueless?  Probably not, but destroying Trump is far more important to her than protecting America.  Her comments about Trump’s use of hydroxychloroquine as a prophylactic are outrageous.  It is the most effective drug at the moment, used all over the world.  And Trump is not “morbidly obese” She however is morbidly botoxed and has undergone so much plastic surgery she resembles a character from the film Death Becomes Her.  She is a ghoul in every sense of the word but the left seems not to realize it.  They celebrate how she wields her power.  That is what they admire; it’s the only thing they admire in anyone.  They just cannot abide it in a republican, especially when they were so certain Hillary was going to win the 2016 election and they would all be in fat city.  They would have been all-powerful.  They would have had control of all the levers of power in this country.  And being the spoiled children they are, to this day they cannot accept that defeat, especially to an outsider like Trump.  They love to mock him, to call him stupid but he has them all by the short hairs and runs rings around their collective body of never-Trumpers.

To be sure, Biden and Pelosi have their devoted fans who are so blinded by their hatred of Trump and their thoroughly unwarranted hero worship of Biden and Pelosi that they mistakenly think they are normal and healthy but both are seriously in need of an intervention.  Why Jill Biden allows Joe’s candidacy to continue is a cruelty, a form of elder abuse.  As for Pelosi, where are her five kids telling her it is time to retire?  Of course the lady of iron will would refuse but how much longer can her infirmities be on public display?   Only time will tell but it seems pretty likely Trump has the election in the bag.   Biden is the weakest candidate the democrat party has run since George McGovern and McGovern was a decent man; Biden is not.  As for Pelosi, her district is so damaged, so depressed, they will likely re-elect her and keep her in office until she is 100% wax-ready for Madame Tussaud’s.

The U.S. Border with Mexico is in chaos as thousands of migrants try to enter the United States in response to Joe Biden’s open borders policy while the president claims he has said they should stay away.

“Do you have to say quite clearly, ‘Don’t come’?” ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos asked Biden in an interview Tuesday.

“Yes, I can say quite clearly: Don’t come over,” Biden said. “Don’t leave your town or city or community.”

According to ABC, “Republicans have said Biden’s moves to rescind former President Donald Trump’s harsh immigration policies have encouraged migrants to come to the United States, but Biden told ABC News that ‘we’re sending back people’ who cross the border.”

“Was it a mistake not to anticipate this surge?” Stephanopoulos said.

“First of all, there was a surge in the last two years,” Biden said. “In ’19 and ’20, there was a surge, as well.”

“I heard the other day that they’re coming because they know I’m a nice guy,” Biden said. “Here’s the deal, they’re not.”

But as Breitbart News reported, Biden’s Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas is sending a different signal, saying he wants to expand economic migration into the United States on top of the roughly one million people per year set by Congress.

“For years, the asylum system has been badly in need of reengineering,” Mayorkas said in a March 16 statement.

Since Biden was sworn into office he has worked to reverse former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, including securing the border with a wall, and ended an agreement with Mexico to keep asylum seekers in that country while their asylum claims were litigated.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, in February 2021, Unaccompanied Alien Children taken into custody numbered 9,297.

Border Patrol agents in the nation’s busiest sector continue to encounter large groups of migrants illegally crossing from Mexico into South Texas. Nearly 24,000 were apprehended in the last two weeks alone — nearly 28,000 for all of February.

Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents continue to apprehend large groups of migrants illegally crossing the border. Chief Patrol Agent Brian Hastings tweeted last Friday that nearly 24,000 migrants had been taken into custody in his sector during the past two weeks. Hundreds more were apprehended in the days that followed.

On Saturday morning, agents assigned to the Rio Grande City Station encountered a group of 134 migrants after they illegally crossed the border near Las Lomas, Texas. The agents identified 128 migrants as family units — mostly from Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Nicaragua.

A few hours later, agents from this same station encountered another large group of migrants near La Grulla, Texas. In this incident, the agents apprehended 113 migrants composed of family units and unaccompanied alien children, officials stated. Included in the 113 migrants were 17 Romanian nationals. The balance came to the U.S. from Central America, officials stated.

“Even with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, human smugglers continue to try these brazen attempts with zero regard for the lives they endanger nor to the health of the citizens of our great nation,” officials said in a written statement.

Last week, Rio Grande Valley Sector agents apprehended large groups of mostly family-unit migrants from Central America near La Grulla, La Joya, and Roma. These groups totaled 339 migrants from Central America, Romania, and Cuba, officials stated.

“Despite the inherent dangers of crossing the treacherous Rio Grande, illegal aliens continue to risk their lives to enter the United States,” Border Patrol officials stated. “In recent days, Border Patrol has conducted multiple rescues of individuals, who were set adrift by smugglers. Groups are smuggled on inflatable rafts almost always exceeding the maximum capacity of the rafts, and rarely provided life vests.”

The head of the Department of Homeland Security is pushing back against Republican criticism of the Biden administration’s border policies

Homeland Security head rejects GOP claims of border ‘crisis’By BEN FOX and NOMAAN MERCHANTAssociated PressThe Associated PressWASHINGTON

WASHINGTON (AP) — The head of the Department of Homeland Security pushed back Wednesday against Republican criticism of the Biden administration’s border policies, refusing to say that the surge of migrant children entering the United States is a “crisis.”

As GOP members of Congress argued that President Joe Biden had wrongly rolled back immigration policies enacted by former President Donald Trump, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas pointed to another Trump policy that was widely reviled: the separation of immigrant families under a “zero tolerance” policy on border crossings.

“A crisis is when a nation is willing to rip a 9-year-old child out of the hands of his or her parent and separate that family to deter future migration,” Mayorkas told the House Homeland Security Committee. “That, to me, is a humanitarian crisis.”

The number of migrants being stopped at the U.S.-Mexico border has been rising since last April, and the administration is still rapidly sending back most single adults and families under a public health order issued by Trump at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. But the U.S. is now allowing teens and children to stay, at least temporarily, and they have been coming in ever larger numbers. Border agents have also been prevented from expelling families with young children from Texas’ Rio Grande Valley because of changes in Mexican policy.

More than 4,000 migrant children were being held by the Border Patrol as of Sunday, including at least 3,000 in custody longer than the 72-hour limit set by a court order, according to a U.S. official. The agency took in an additional 561 on Monday, twice the recent average, according to a second official. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss figures not yet publicly released.

The rise has left Biden in a difficult spot. He is criticized by Republicans for what they view as encouragement to illegal border crossings and by some Democrats over the prolonged detention of minors.

Rep. Jeff Van Drew, R-N.J., referenced a photo of a small crowd of demonstrators in Tijuana, Mexico, wearing matching T-shirts with the words “Biden, please let us in” that circulated widely on social media in recent days.

“I look at two months ago, and we had a certain situation. We were under control,” Van Drew said. “And I look now with people crossing the border illegally in much larger numbers with shirts with our president’s name on it. That means something under anybody’s standard.”

The situation is also a challenge to Biden’s effort to overhaul broader Trump policies intended to curtail both legal and illegal immigration.

“I can say quite clearly: Don’t come over,” Biden said in an ABC News interview that aired Wednesday.

The number of migrants attempting to cross the border is at the highest level since March 2019. Mayorkas on Tuesday said it was on pace to hit a 20-year peak.

“The situation at the southwest border is difficult,” Mayorkas said in his most extensive remarks to date on the subject. “We are working around the clock to manage it and we will continue to do so. That is our job.”

Under questioning Wednesday, Mayorkas and some Democrats also highlighted nonimmigration issues, including the threat of domestic extremism following the violent insurrection at the Capitol, while Republicans focused primarily on the border.

Several Republicans argued that Biden’s rescinding of the Trump-era “Remain in Mexico” policy was a mistake. Small numbers of immigrants — far from the more than 70,000 people barred from entry under the policy — have been allowed into the U.S. during the first weeks of the new administration after they pass a COVID-19 screening. Human rights groups and lawyers have documented kidnappings, rapes and attacks in border cities against many migrants forced to wait in Mexico.

Republican Rep. Michael McCaul of Texas defended Trump’s agreements to send people from Central America to other countries in the region instead of letting them seek asylum under American law.

“The Trump administration, in my judgment, did a masterful job in negotiating the ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy and the asylum cooperative agreements with Central America,” McCaul said. “It was actually a foreign policy achievement.”

Biden has moved to roll back those policies and restore a program allowing Central American children to seek asylum while in their home countries. Said Mayorkas, “Sometimes the tools of deterrence defy values and principles for which we all stand.”

The Health and Human Services Department plans to open shelter facilities at Moffett Federal Airfield near San Francisco and in Pecos, Texas, to handle the flow. It is also looking to expand a facility in Donna, Texas, in the Rio Grande Valley, to hold 2,000 people.

Also, the Dallas Convention Center was to begin holding children as early as Wednesday, with plans to accommodate up to 3,000. A makeshift holding center in Midland, Texas, that opened last weekend for 700 children had 485 on Monday.

REPORT: 13K Unaccompanied Minors in Border Patrol Custody, Many for 5 Days

CBS News reports U.S. Border Patrol officials are holding more than 13,000 unaccompanied migrant children in custody along the Rio Grande. Many are being held for at least five days — well beyond the 72-hour legal limit.

CBS News Correspondent Mirey Villarreal reported from the Texas-Mexico border that officials are holding more than 13,000 unaccompanied alien children in Border Patrol facilities designed for adults. Many of the children are being held for at least five days. Courts previously imposed a limit of 72 hours on how long unaccompanied children could be held without being released to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Department of Health and Human Services.

Breitbart’s Randy Clark first reported on the Biden Administration illegally holding these minors in jail cells built to hold adults beyond the 72-hour limit. “Despite the opening of a new facility in Carrizo Springs, Texas, Border Patrol facilities continue to experience overcrowding not seen since the 2019 migrant crisis,” Clark wrote.

While the Biden Administration calls the migrant surge a “challenging situation,” and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas says the situation is “under control,” local law enforcement officials in the Rio Grande Valley are calling it a “full-blown crisis,” Villarreal reported.

In her report, Villarreal talked to a 10-year-old Honduran boy who made the journey to the Texas border without any family and was walking alone when she found him.

The situation is something President Joe Biden has seen before. In June 2014, during the Obama/Biden administration, Breitbart Texas Managing Editor Brandon Darby published leaked photos of migrant children being packed into filthy jail cells. The revelation of the children being held in deplorable conditions shocked the world and shifted the discussion of illegal immigration in the United States.

During the Trump administration in April 2018, Breitbart Texas again reported the increasing numbers of unaccompanied children crossing the border.

With only 4,171 unaccompanied minors crossing the entire southwest border with Mexico that month, DHS Press Secretary Tyler Q. Houlton said, “The crisis at our Southwest border is real. The number of illegal border crossings during the month of March shows an urgent need to address the ongoing situation at the border.”

In February 2021, Border Patrol agents apprehended 18,945 unaccompanied minors (7,056 in Texas sectors alone) and the Biden Administration scrambles to catch up with the situation they say is “under control.”

DHS Secretary Mayorkas appeared before the House Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday morning, Breitbart News reported. The secretary refused, once again, to call the situation a “crisis.” Rather he said the department faces a “difficult situation.”

The 4,300 migrants apprehended in March include single adults, families, human smugglers, and “aliens with extensive criminal histories, Skero said in the tweet.

4 on Terror Watchlist Caught at Border

The Biden regime covered D.C. with armed troops but opened up the border. And the message is getting through to the bad guys.

The Customs and Border Protection agency confirmed to Congress today that four people arrested at the southern border since Oct. 1 match names on the FBI's Terrorist Screening Database, a congressional aide briefed on the correspondence told Axios.

Why it matters: Three of the people arrested were from Yemen and one was from Serbia. The four arrests are more than the number of similar people taken into custody during recent full fiscal years, according to the source. In fiscal 2018, six people from Yemen and Bangladesh were arrested.

The Yemen element is certainly interesting.

These days, Yemen is the leading terror hot zone with Iran's Houthis, whom the Biden administration has chosen to back, along with elements of Al Qaeda and other Sunni Jihadis. (Anwar Al-Awlaki, if you recall, was based out of Yemen and was taken out there.)

The US also hosts a sizable Yemeni diaspora that was involved in a number of terror incidents: most prominently, the Lackawanna Six.

The Lackawanna Six (a.k.a. the Buffalo Six) was a cell of a half-dozen al-Qaeda operatives of Yemeni heritage who were arrested in Lackawanna, New York (near Buffalo) in September 2002. American citizens by birth, all six were residents of Lackawanna and its community of approximately 3,000 Yemeni Muslims. Their names were Muktar Al-Bakri, Sahim A. Alwan, Faysal Galab, Yahya A. Goba, Shafal Mosed, and Yasein Taher. All in their twenties at the time of their arrests, these six men were recruited into terrorism by two veteran mujaheddin, Kamal Derwish and Juma al-Dosari, who encouraged them to attend a six-week-long weapons course at al-Qaeda’s Al-Farooq training camp in Afghanistan, near Kandahar.

I would suspect that we're getting training camp vets trying to cross the border. The sorts of people who already know they're on a list.

Lawsuit: Biden’s ‘Sanctuary Country’ Policy Freeing Illegal Alien Convicts into American Communities

Illegal alien convicts are being released, or have already been released, directly into American communities from state prisons thanks to President Joe Biden’s “sanctuary country” orders that are preventing most arrests and deportations, a lawsuit reveals.

In February, Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued orders that instruct Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents not to pursue illegal aliens for arrest and deportation unless they have been recently convicted of aggravated felonies against Americans.

For example, illegal aliens arrested or charged with rape, murder, sexual abuse of a child, and child pornography would not be eligible for arrest by ICE agents because they have not been convicted of the crimes.

Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody filed a lawsuit against the Biden administration’s sanctuary country orders, revealing that already illegal alien convicts in state prisons are being released into American communities because ICE agents can no longer detain and deport them.

Moody named seven illegal alien convicts in the case — many of whom have been convicted of burglary, cocaine trafficking, grand theft auto, heroin trafficking, credit card fraud, money laundering, and other crimes.

The cases can be viewed in full here:

Despite notices by the Florida Department of Corrections to ICE about the illegal alien convicts’ upcoming releases, ICE agents were forced to reply saying they would be unable to take custody because of Biden’s sanctuary orders.

As a result, illegal alien convicts Alejandro Falcon Luis Reyes and Dzevad Husejnovic have already been released into Florida communities rather than being turned over to ICE agents for detainment and deportation.

Other illegal alien convicts named in the lawsuit — including Jose Gomez, Loveson Pierre, Donavan Mott, and Wanto Jerome — are set to be released into communities this month, June, or November.

“The Biden administration’s reckless policy of refusing to do their jobs and deport criminals places all those gains and Floridians’ public safety at risk,” Moody said in a statement.

“Until President Biden’s inauguration, presidents of both parties detained and deported criminals,” Moody continued. “This is a radical shift that places Floridians and our law enforcement officers in greater danger, and that is why I filed suit.”

In Pasco County, Florida, alone, the lawsuit states that ICE agents have been unable to take custody of three illegal aliens who were convicted of crimes such as domestic violence, violating a restraining order, and a warrant for an accused sexual predator.

Moody, in asking for a preliminary injunction on Biden’s sanctuary country orders, joins Arizona and Montana Attorneys General Mark Brnovich and Austin Knudsen, who are also suing Biden, arguing that the policies are a violation of federal immigration law.

As Breitbart News reported this week, Biden’s sanctuary country orders have prompted ICE detention of illegal aliens to hit the lowest level in the agency’s history with less than 14,000 detainees in custody. Likewise, deportations have been cut by 53 percent in his first month.

The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. The case number is 8:21-cv-00541.

Exclusive — Sen. Marsha Blackburn: Joe Biden’s Open Borders Policy and Amnesty Talk Attract Illegal Immigration, Human Smuggling, Sex Trafficking

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) told Breitbart News on Tuesday that President Joe Biden’s “open border policy” and promises of amnesty are an “invitation” for illegal immigration, human smuggling, and sex trafficking operations run by transnational criminal cartels.

“What we are seeing is a true surge at the border,” Blackburn said on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow. “It is a crisis, and this is a crisis of the Biden administration’s making. When President Biden basically said our border is open — you’re not going to be deported, you’re not going to be turned away — people saw that as receiving an engraved invitation to come to the U.S. to get in line and try to get the benefits.”

She continued, “What they’re doing is trying to receive the benefits of U.S. citizenship and the promises of the American Dream without meeting the responsibility and obligations that are required for that.”

LISTEN:

Blackburn noted that foreigners from many countries engage in illegal immigration and exploitation of birthright citizenship in the U.S.

“Of course, we know that people are coming from countries all over world to illegally enter,” she remarked. “You have China and the Middle East [as] some of the areas that are paying the most, and working with the cartels to get passage into the U.S., and this should be of concern to every single U.S. citizen, because when you have an open border policy, when you are having these illegal immigrants coming into the country, you are not testing them for COVID, you are encouraging the drug cartels, because the borders are open, the wall construction has stopped, and then they are going into every single community and every town becomes a border town.”

Blackburn went on, “Every state becomes a border state because of the impact of drugs and gangs and human trafficking and sex trafficking. … This is where the American people need to stand up and be the people, and push it back on their members of the Senate and the House who may be sitting there on their hands saying nothing to this administration.”

“[Elected officials] need to work with their local law enforcement to be certain that the police have the tools and the training that they need to deal with the impacts that come from an open border,” Blackburn stated. “I’m working on legislation that would push forward putting the Migrant Protection Protocols from the Trump administration into law, because Joe Biden and [Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas] have basically taken our nation’s immigration policy and … torn them up like Nancy Pelosi tore up that State of the Union speech last year.”

The Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), also known as the Remain in Mexico policy, required asylum seekers seeking entry to the U.S. across the southern border to wait in Mexico until their claims were adjudicated.

Illegal Alien Charged with 4 Murders Looks to Evade Death Penalty with ‘Intellectually Disabled’ Label

An illegal alien charged with murdering four Americans is looking to evade the death penalty by classifying himself as “intellectually disabled.”

Wilbur Ernesto Martinez-Guzman, a 20-year-old illegal alien from El Salvador, was charged with murdering 56-year-old Connie Koontz, 74-year-old Sophia Renken, 81-year-old Gerald David, and his 80-year-old wife, Sharon David, in January 2019 when prosecutors said he was attempting to steal money from his victims to buy more meth.

Now, Martinez-Guzman’s attorneys seek to classify him as “intellectually disabled” so he can evade the death penalty. The attorneys have appealed their case to Nevada’s Supreme Court, claiming that they need more time to gather evidence that their client is intellectually disabled.

The Associated Press reports:

Nevada’s Supreme Court wants to hear directly from lawyers on both sides in a death penalty dispute over how much more time public defenders should have to try to prove a Salvadoran immigrant is intellectually disabled and can’t be executed if convicted of four 2019 Nevada killings. [Emphasis added]

Deputy Defender John Reese Petty said in their most recent Supreme Court filings the motion hasn’t been filed yet because they’ve been unable to gather necessary evidence in Guzman’s native El Salvador due largely to COVID-19 travel restrictions. [Emphasis added]

A clinical psychologist concluded in an evaluation that’s been sealed in district court that Martinez-Guzman’s general intellectual and cognitive test scores fell well below levels needed to satisfy key elements of Nevada’s execution exemption, the defense said. [Emphasis added]

Previously, a Nevada judge said Martinez-Guzman’s attorneys had until April 20 to prove he is intellectually disabled. They claim they need more time to travel to El Salvador and gather evidence to prove their case.

Among those allegedly murdered by Martinez-Guzman was Connie Koontz, a mother, whose mother’s 80th birthday was the following day. Koontz, herself, was set to turn 57 five days after her murder.

Also allegedly murdered was 74-year-old Sophia Renken, as well as Gerald and Sharon David, who were both beloved members of the South Reno community. Gerald was president of the Reno Rodeo Association in 2006, and Sharon was a member of the group.

Martinez-Guzman’s trial is set to begin on September 20.

EXCLUSIVE: Leaked Numbers Show Migrant ‘Got-Aways’ Soar as Border Apprehensions Hit 15-Year High

A U.S. Border Patrol source reports the number of migrant “got-away’s” tallied by the agency surpassed 118,000 for this fiscal year. In less than six months, the “got-away” number is nearly double that for all of Fiscal Year 2020.  Last year, 69,000 illegal immigrants managed to avoid apprehension by the Border Patrol. Sources report the sharpest increase began in January as President Joe Biden took office.

This particular metric is usually not released by Department of Homeland Security officials. The numbers are achieved by counting illegal immigrants who ultimately escape Border Patrol apprehension after being observed by aircraft platforms and camera systems. In addition, Border Patrol agents using traditional “sign-cutting” techniques identify footprints crossing the border and count those that elude apprehension.

“That’s where it gets tricky,” says a Border Patrol agent with knowledge of the data who is not authorized to speak in the issue. “On a small trail, dozens can walk all over each other’s footprints, so you just do your best. Often, they’ll glue carpet to the soles of their shoes making detection even harder.”

The source reports that for these reasons, the got-away count is usually lower than reality. How much so is debatable as the latter method of counting is not scientific.

The spike in got-aways comes as U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials reported the highest number of migrant apprehension totals since 2006.

Despite the current administration’s refusal to call the immigration situation on the border a crisis, the recent surges are concerning. Many believe the impetus for the surges in illegal entries is being fueled by the promise of amnesty legislation. The administration’s new policies regarding lax interior enforcement and a reduction in removals are also believed to be contributing to the surge in activity along the border.

During a recent press engagement, Texas Governor Greg Abbott elaborated on his views about the border surge, “Because of the volume of people coming across the border, the Border Patrol that makes the arrest, they have to engage quite literally in babysitting. And while they’re doing babysitting, that provides an opportunity for the cartels to be able to bring other people across the border illegally.”.

Recent reports concerning the reduced patrols being conducted by the Border Patrol are likely contributing to the surge in the got-away count. The humanitarian needs of thousands of unaccompanied children crossing the border have impacted the Border Patrol’s ability to cover many remote areas. This situation is likely to worsen as the crisis develops.

Border Patrol agents assigned to the five Texas-based sectors apprehended nearly 64,000 migrants in February. This represents an increase of more than 27 percent from the previous month.

Agents assigned to the Rio Grande Valley, Laredo, Del Rio, Big Bend, and El Paso Sectors apprehended 63,734 migrants in February, according to the Southwest Border Land Encounters Report released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials on Wednesday. This represents an increase of 13,619 migrants over the January report. Note: The El Paso Sector includes apprehensions in New Mexico.

Border Patrol agents apprehended nearly 100,000 migrants in February who illegally crossed the Mexico-U.S. Border between ports of entry. The apprehensions reveal a jump of 26 percent from January and 170 percent from one year ago.

Border Patrol agents apprehended 98,974 migrants in February who illegally crossed the border in February, according to the Southwest Land Border Encounters Report released on Wednesday by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials. This represents a massive increase from the 78,323 apprehended in January and an even larger jump from February 2020 when agents apprehended only 36,687. The February 2021 apprehensions are the largest February report since 2006 when agents apprehended 125,046.

These apprehensions occurred during President Joe Biden’s first full month in office and follows his cancellation of border wall systems construction and many of the Trump-era policies that ended catch and release.

“The border is not open,” CBP Senior Officials Performing the Duties of the Commissioner Troy Miller said in his opening remarks in Wednesday’s unveiling of the Southwest Border Encounters report for February. He said their administration is building an “orderly process” and that people should not believe the human smugglers who are encouraging the current spike in illegal border crossings.

“The United States is continuing to strictly enforce our existing immigration laws and border security measures,” Mr. Miller continued. “Those who attempt to cross the border without going through ports of entry should understand that they are putting themselves and their families in danger, especially during the pandemic.”

Most concerning in these apprehend is the number of Unaccompanied Alien Children smuggled across the border and apprehended by Border Patrol agents. In January, agents apprehended 5,871 unaccompanied minors, official reports indicate. In February, that number climbed to 9,297, the CBP report states. This represents a single-month increase of 58 percent and a 166 percent jump from last February’s 3,490.

Miller said more than 3,000 of the unaccompanied minors are under the age of 12. The remaining minors are between 13 and 17 years of age.

The apprehension of 18,945 Family Unit Aliens in February also jumped from the previous month’s total of 7,490 and the 7,117 apprehended in February 2020.

The increased apprehensions in February represent the tenth straight month of increases in apprehensions. The previous low point came in April 2020 when apprehensions fell to 17,104.

The Texas sectors account for 65 percent of all migrant border apprehensions, the report indicates.

The Rio Grande Valley Sector is clearly the epicenter of the current border crisis with nearly 28,000 migrants (nearly 29 percent) being apprehended out of the total apprehensions of 96,974. The apprehensions in the RGV Sector jumped 63,7 percent from January’s 17,056.

The El Paso Sector is next with 13,181 apprehensions — up 24 percent from January. The Big Bend Sector experienced an increase of 16 percent over the previous month. The Del Rio and Laredo Sectors both reported a slight decrease in apprehensions — 0.7 and 1.7 percent respectively.

By demographic category, the five Texas-based sectors apprehended 41,467 single adults, 7,056 unaccompanied alien children, and 15,211 family unit aliens.

In the Rio Grande Valley Sector alone, Border Patrol agents apprehended 10,489 unaccompanied minors representing more than 55 percent of the 18,945 minors apprehended in all nine southwest border sectors.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Troy Miller, senior official performing the duties of the commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported more than 3,000 of the unaccompanied minors apprehended nationally are under the age of 12. The remaining minors are between 13 and 17 years of age.

4300 Migrants Apprehended over One Week in Central Texas Border Sector

Del Rio Sector Border Patrol agents apprehended 4,300 migrants who illegally crossed the central Texas border from Mexico in the past seven days. The arrest of these migrants includes migrants with extensive criminal histories and human smugglers.

Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Austin Skero tweeted that his agents apprehended more than 4,300 migrants during the first seven days of March.

Skero said 2,000 of those migrants were arrested over the weekend. These apprehensions indicate an ever increasing number of migrant apprehensions in this sector. If the rate of apprehensions stays the same for the entire month of March, agents will apprehend more than 19,000 migrants this month.

In January, the most recent month where statistics are available, Del Rio Sector agents apprehended 11,073 migrants including 8,834 single adults, 1,731 family unit aliens, and 508 unaccompanied alien children, according to the January Southwest Land Border Encounters report published by U.S. Customs and Border Protection in February. If the rate of apprehensions holds up, or does not increase, this would represent an increase of 71 percent in the past two months. February apprehension numbers are expected to be released later on Wednesday.

The 4,300 migrants apprehended in March include single adults, families, human smugglers, and “aliens with extensive criminal histories, Skero said in the tweet.

Over the weekend, deputies with the Kinney County Sheriff’s Office, located in the Del Rio Sector, arrested two smugglers and turned 16 migrants over to Border Patrol agents following in two separate incidents over the weekend.

Democrats Want to Free Criminals, Open Borders and Lock Up Guns

Passing gun laws they won’t enforce to stop the criminals they won’t arrest.

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is an investigative journalist and writer focusing on the radical Left and Islamic terrorism.

Senator Schumer began his pitch for gun control by falsely claiming that, "hundreds of thousands -- maybe millions -- of people walking the streets today because we passed [the 1994 Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act] would be dead."

The country hit an all-time high of 24,703 murders three years before the Brady Bill and even assuming that number had held steady in all the years since, we would be nowhere close to Schumer’s millions. Senator Schumer’s false claim that he saved millions of lives with his mostly useless background checks is typical of the lies that drive Democrat gun control hysteria.

Then Schumer topped that howler with an even bigger howler when he argued that, “We didn't know there would be an internet, so we didn't prohibit internet sales without a background check." Not only did the internet exist at the time, but Schumer had voted for the bills that had helped fund the development of the internet. If only he had known what he was voting for.

“No more hopes and prayers, thoughts and prayers. A vote is what we need, a vote, not thoughts and prayers,” Schumer sneered. No one ever accused Schumer of wasting time on thoughts and prayers when there was a camera or a vote. But what we need isn’t a vote.

What we need is for Democrats to stop freeing criminals and then complaining about guns.

The USA Today network unleashed stories of shootings surging across the country through its local papers. The stories blame the increase in shootings on unemployment, inequity, and gun sales, not on the push by Democrats and the media to free criminals to save them from the coronavirus and the racist inequity of locking up murderers, rapists, and robbers behind bars.

The vast majority of shootings are carried out by gang members and other criminals associated with organized crime. Indeed, one of the USA Today stories noted that in Washington D.C., wearing masks had led to shootings because gang members couldn’t recognize their enemies.

"Those context cues are not visible with masks, so you don’t know who’s up on you until they’re right there. In neighborhoods with a lack of safety, that sort of fear leads to a lot of people carrying guns,” a member of a black community group explained.

Maybe Schumer can introduce a bill banning masks instead of trying to ban guns.

In 18 days, 416 people were shot in Chicago in two neighborhoods involving 6% of the city's gang factions. A sociology professor was able to predict the likelihood of who would be shot next by using data from previous arrests. But Chicago Democrats had banned that sort of predictive science in favor of screaming about inanimate object violence even though their own police data shows that, “in 95 percent of cases where CPD was able to identify the possessor of the crime gun, that individual was not the original, lawful purchaser of the firearm.”

Obviously, what’s needed in Chicago is another background check bill from Chuck Schumer.

A Los Angeles Times board editorial from September 2020 described a mass shooting at an illegal marijuana farm as a "sign of the times" and blamed the "presence of guns".

It didn't occur to the Times that the presence of criminals and drugs might have had a little to do with the shooting spree. Guns don’t tend to transport themselves to mass shootings. As the Times’ own reporting documented, the killing of 7 people by multiple shooters while leaving behind a thousand pounds of pot valued in the millions was the work of organized crime.

The region, in the words of the Times, is "favored by drug traffickers" and offers "a pool of potential couriers, and the U.S.-Mexican border — across, over and beneath which drugs and the proceeds of their sale flow". If only there were some sort of barrier there: perhaps a wall.

Mexican drug cartels don’t have any difficulty getting their hands on guns or heavy firepower. In Mexico, cartel gunmen with machine guns mounted on trucks had defeated the Mexican army in a battle that lasted for hours. If only Mexico had its own Schumer and more background checks.

Mexico has only one gun store and gun owners are only allowed to sell their guns back to the government. Licenses are fantastically expensive and hard to come by. But somehow, in the gun control utopia south of the border, criminals have machine guns mounted on trucks without any background checks. And they’re carrying out mass shootings in an America without walls.

The bad Democrat habit of only paying attention to crime involving guns, and only then to argue for tighter gun control, would be bad enough in an ordinary year, but is especially cynical in a year when its elected officials championed defunding the police and setting the criminals loose.

In San Francisco, progressive Soros DA Chesa Boudin boasts of never having prosecuted a single case. His office has managed to secure only 16 convictions since he took office, two of them for burglary, 2 for sexual assault, and he tried and failed to secure a conviction for a gun felony. Meanwhile his office racked up zero homicide convictions for a city with 47 murders.

Pro-crime prosecutors like Boudin in San Francisco, George Gascon in Los Angeles, and Larry Krasner in Philly backed by big lefty donors like Soros are the wave of the Democrat future,

In Philly, Mayor Jim Kenney, a Democrat, blasted Krasner, the Soros DA, for refusing to prosecute criminals who violate gun laws.

“We need more people who are carrying guns on the street illegally and carrying guns with a record to be segregated from the community because that’s the reason why our shooting spike has happened and that’s why our homicide spike has happened,” Kenney complained.

“There has to be teeth. There needs to be consequences," Commissioner Danielle Outlaw, a black woman who had been hounded out of her job in Portland by Antifa, complained.

What’s the point of passing gun laws that won’t be enforced anyway? Just like in Mexico, these laws won’t keep guns out of the hands of criminals, but will keep people from being able to defend themselves against the criminals. Schumer isn’t about to get on the wrong side of Soros, of Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, or other big lefty donors to pro-crime DAs who protect criminals.

Gun control stopped being anything other than an obscene farce once Democrats entirely threw out the idea of fighting crime. The Democrat plan is to free criminals, open up borders, and then pass gun regulations to stop the influx of gang members coming out of prison and across the border from being able to buy the guns with which they plan to shoot each other.

Unexpectedly, criminals have ways of illegally getting hold of the things that they’re officially not supposed to have. Some might even say that’s the essence of their criminal profession.

Gun control is coming from the same Democrats who insist that banning drugs won’t prevent people from buying them anyway, but believe that banning guns will get them off the street.

It hasn’t worked in Mexico or Mexifornia, but somehow it’s going to work in America.

Democrats want to pass gun laws they won’t enforce to stop the criminals they won’t arrest. And then they sneer at “thoughts and prayers” as ineffectual compared to their awesome bills.

If police are evil and prisons are awful, then what are the new gun laws meant to accomplish?

Pelosi and Schumer would be better off finding a church and synagogue that won’t cause them to burst into flames when they try to pass its threshold and try a few prayers instead.

And then they can abandon their flirtation with criminals and stand with their victims instead.

Gun violence didn’t surge or spike, depending on which media buzzword you go with, because guns were somehow more available in the plague year. There was no gun surplus in 2020. If anything firearms and ammunition became more expensive. But there was a surplus of criminals unleashed by Democrat officials and prosecutors in cities across America.

The vast majority of serious crimes are committed by career criminals who have not been previously caught or charged, or by repeat offenders who have been in and out of prison.

Increasing the supply of guns doesn’t significantly increase crime because there are only a limited number of criminals or potential criminals out there. That’s why Switzerland and Israel, or Colonial America, aren’t and weren’t picking bodies off every street corner the way that Chicago is. But when you increase the supply of criminals, then you naturally get a lot more crime.

Democrats increased the supply of criminals by opening up prisons and the border. They tried to defund the police and they stood with pro-crime rioters against their own police forces. Their elected officials decriminalized everything from theft to drugs while their prosecutors pled down crimes and then watched as the criminals walked away thanks to criminal justice reform. They eliminated bail or fundraised to bail out criminals and then watched while they went on killing.

Pelosi and Schumer shouldn’t be too quick to dismiss thoughts and prayers. Considering how many people have died, were beaten or raped by the criminals set loose to terrorize cities, their souls could use a lot of those thoughts and prayers. Even more than those of their victim
