A criminal illegal alien accused of spitting on an Asian American family and holding them at gunpoint in an attempted robbery was protected four times from arrest and deportation by the sanctuary state of California, a new report reveals.

Carlos Claros, a 22-year-old illegal alien, was arrested in April after being caught on video footage allegedly trying to rob an Asian American family of 18 that was visiting San Francisco, California’s Fisherman’s Wharf from Wisconsin as part of a road trip across the state. The family included children as young as six.

According to those present at the scene, Claros and two other men walked up on the family wielding a gun in an attempt to rob them. At the time of the incident, Claros was out of jail on probation.

Patrick Elliot, a member of the family, said he stepped up to protect his family when he heard Claros tell another member of the family “Ugh you Asian” before spitting in their direction. When police responded, they followed Claros, where he allegedly threw the gun used in the attempted robbery under a vehicle.

In an exclusive reportWashington Times reporter Stephen Dinan revealed that California’s expansive sanctuary state law — shielding illegal aliens from arrest and deportation — helped keep Claros in the United States despite four requests by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency to turn him over to their custody.

Dinan reports:

ICE placed its first detainer in October 2018 after Claros was convicted of battery and receiving stolen property, “but due to local sanctuary laws, the detainer was not honored,” the agency told The Times.

More detainers followed arrests or convictions in December 2018, February 2019 and April 2020. Each time San Francisco again declined to honor the fellow law enforcement agency’s request.

KGO-TV News reporter Dion Lim noted in April that Claros has an extensive criminal record including arrests for drugs, stealing a vehicle, and for being part of an armed robbery spree across a number of California neighborhoods in 2019.

Currently, Claros is facing charges of possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle, carrying a loaded firearm, resisting arrest, making criminal threats, and other crimes. Claros is expected to appear in court next month.

Biden Administration Erases ICE’s ‘Most Wanted’ List for Victims of Illegal Alien Crime

By Jon Feere on June 15, 2021

The Biden administration has removed from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) “Most Wanted” webpage six criminal aliens associated with victims who had reached out to ICE for help. This follows the administration’s decision to shutter the Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) office, which existed to assist people victimized by criminal aliens.

One of the aliens, Edwin Mejia, is suspected in the killing of Sarah Root. Her mother, Michelle Root, is testifying before Congress today. With this change, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has explicitly declared that the arrest of Mejia and the others is not a priority. The Biden administration has made it clear that the interests of American citizens take a back seat to the interests of criminal illegal aliens.

Why is Mayorkas helping Mejia evade arrest? It’s not the first time he’s done so. When Mayorkas was in the Obama administration, DHS allowed Mejia to run free because Mejia “did not meet ICE’s enforcement priorities”, despite being charged with vehicular homicide/driving under the influence, a felony. Their policy choice was that a fully deportable alien must first be convicted of a violent crime before ICE can deport the person. The Trump administration ended these anti-enforcement policies, but President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Mayorkas have put these dangerous policies back into effect.

Mejia came across the border as an unaccompanied alien child (UAC), was released to an alleged family member, and was not a priority for arrest under the Obama administration. This same scenario is happening by the thousands right now. The Biden administration’s policies are a clear indicator that they believe what happened to the Root family is not serious enough to change policy. The facts of this case are well-known to the Biden administration and they are aware that their policies will inflict similar victimization on more families.

The aliens on the now-removed most-wanted list have vehicular homicide charges against them, and some were driving drunk. Their removal from the list is consistent with the Biden administration’s dangerous ICE guidance. Biden, Harris, and Mayorkas don’t consider drunk, unlicensed, reckless driving a serious crime. They also don’t think that violations of the nation’s immigration laws are a problem.

In FYs 2017-2020, nearly 292,000 DUI crimes were on the records of aliens ICE arrested. Over the next four years, these numbers will be much lower because of the Biden administration’s policies. Thus far, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) has remained silent.

Exclusive — Rep. Ted Budd: Democrats’ Border Neglect Is a ‘Long Play to Change the Demographics of the Country’

Democrats use illegal immigration to change American demographics for political benefit, Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC) noted on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Sunday with host Joel Pollak.

Pollak highlighted Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-TX) recent description of El Paso, Texas, as “the new Ellis Island” while meeting Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday near the U.S.-Mexico. He asked why Democrats broadly refuse to acknowledge the status quo of illegal immigration and its consequences.

“Why are they denying reality?” asked Pollak. “Everybody can see it. The media doesn’t want to see it, but people know it’s going on. Why do they think they can get away with this?”

Budd replied, “I think it’s a long play to change the demographics of the country. You flood all 50 states. Of course, these people don’t just stay in Texas or Arizona or close to the border. They travel all over the U.S.. and people vote with their feet, right? They’re very rational. With loose border policies from the Democrats, they want to come to a better country; even with all these problems that we are talking about in our country, America is still the best place on earth, so they come here.”

Budd noted that Democrats and their political allies regularly call for amnestying illegal aliens and providing them with citizenship.

He remarked, “Eventually, [Democrats] will give them amnesty, which is a Democrat idea, and then that changes the power structure forever, and for the next 50 to 100 years, it’s Democrat control of our country, hands down. So we can’t allow it to happen because they’re seeking to curry favor with these people in the future. It’s a very simple, but a very bad strategy.”

The Biden administration’s policies have essentially surrendered control of the U.S.-Mexico border to transnational criminal cartels, Budd observed.

He said Democrats “are creating a moral crisis at the borders, and by allowing cartels to come through with human trafficking, the sex trafficking, it’s just devastating what you’re seeing the cartels do. I’ve talked to law enforcement when I’ve been down to the border. I’ve been there multiple times … meeting with Customs and Border Patrol. They say there’s very little operational control from law enforcement, only because of lack of funding and lack of emphasis under the Democrat administrations. They have lack of operational control 30 miles north [and] 30 miles south of the border.”

Harris’s refusal to acknowledge the harm illegal immigration and a porous border cause amounts to a “dereliction of duty,” Budd determined.

Florida, Iowa, and Nebraska Police Reinforcements Deploy to West Texas Border

DEL RIO, Texas — A Border Patrol source tells Breitbart Texas that police and game wardens from other states will deploy in support on Monday. The Del Rio Sector will reportedly see immediate augmentation to their airboat patrols.

The source says the Florida Highway Patrol will deploy five airboats in the Del Rio area to assist in deterring river crossings. Specially trained SWAT officers from Iowa will join. The Nebraska Highway Patrol also sent 25 officers, according to the source.

At a press conference held last week, incoming Chief of the Border Patrol Raul L. Ortiz was asked what preparations the Border Patrol has made to integrate operations with the out of state law enforcement, and if he feared a potential “over-saturation” along the Texas Border.

Chief Ortiz responded by saying, “We are working closely with Texas Governor Abbott to make sure that we communicate closely concerning where we deploy assets to make sure that we do not have a “blue-on-blue” incident caused by lack of communication.”

Chief Austin Skero of the Del Rio Sector advised Breitbart Texas that he is making sure his marine operations integrate with safety-first priorities. He says he will place Border Patrol Vessel Commanders on each Florida Highway Patrol airboat to bridge potential communication gaps and aid them in navigating the Rio Grande.

Skero also says other out of state law enforcement will more than likely be paired with Texas Department of Safety Troopers to bridge terrain familiarization gaps.

The Del Rio Sector, as reported by Breitbart Texas, is expected to break an all time record for migrant apprehensions this fiscal year. As of May, the sector was ranked third in the nation for apprehensions but is expected to jump into second place by mid-summer.
