(CNSNews.com) - Archbishop Joseph Naumann of Kansas City said at a virtual conference of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops on Thursday that President Joe Biden’s calling abortion a “right” and trying to abolish the Hyde Amendment so taxpayers must pay for it is “the most aggressive thing we’ve ever seen in terms of this attack on life when it’s most innocent.”

“We are at a new moment in the pro-life movement, and I think this is important for us to understand,” Naumann said.

“Those who advocate for abortion no longer talk in the language of choice. They talk about it as a right,” he said. “That’s what our president talks about it—as a right. And this really evolved when, under a previous administration, when he was the vice president, when abortion became, not by an act of Congress, not by a court, but by a regulation, declared as medical care.

“And it is out of this context that this president now says it’s a right and, therefore, everybody is going to have to pay taxes for this—as we see the attack on the Hyde Amendment—everybody is to be implicated in it,” said the archbishop.

“And this is a Catholic president that’s doing this, the most aggressive thing that we have ever seen in terms of this attack on life when it’s most innocent,” he said.

Here is a transcript of the statement Archbishop Naumann made on Thursday at the virtual conference of the USCCB:

Archbishop Joseph Naumann: “I strongly support the document. I think it’s the right approach to do it in this broad context of laying out the beauty in the theology behind the Eucharist, to lay for this Eucharistic revival that we all are longing for. I appreciated Bishop Warfield’s comments about having discussions in regional meetings leading up to this. I think that is a great, also I think in the provinces.

“You know, I am somewhat amused by those who think we are rushing into this. We do nothing quickly as this conference, and I think that’s good. Our processes require us to be deliberate in the actions that we take. But I think to call this rushing into it, I think is hyperbole.

“I do want to talk specifically about why I think—and this came up in the discussion yesterday—why this is a particularly important moment that we speak. And, as Bishop Rhodes has pointed up, that abortion, euthanasia, these are not the only issues that, one, should exclude themselves from the Eucharist if they are involved, there are many personal ones, but there could be other public ones like racism, like human trafficking, but my call to politicians has always been one of integrity.

“And, unfortunately, it is not the bishops that have brought us to this point, it’s really, I think, some of our public officials. And we are at a new moment in the pro-life movement, and I think this is important for us to understand. Those who advocate for abortion no longer talk in the language of choice. They talk about it as a right. That’s what our president talks about it—as a right. And this really evolved when, under a previous administration, when he was the vice president, when abortion became, not by an act of Congress, not by a court, but by a regulation, declared as medical care. And it is out of this context that this president now says it’s a right and, therefore, everybody is going to have to pay taxes for this—as we see the attack on the Hyde Amendment—everybody is to be implicated in it. And this is a Catholic president that’s doing this, the most aggressive thing that we have ever seen in terms of this attack on life when it’s most innocent.

“We made our own statement a couple of years ago why it’s preeminent—why is the abortion issue preeminent? Because it attacks life when it’s most vulnerable. Between mother and child, father and child, and because of the sheer numbers. There’s nothing else that compares to it.

“So, yes, it is a preeminent issue. It’s not the only issue. But it is a preeminent issue. And it’s really those in public life who then flaunt their Catholicity, love to describe themselves as devout Catholics and then act in these ways simultaneously.

“When, at our ad limina visit, when we talked to Pope Francis about this, he agreed with the language of preeminence. He even said that without the right to life, there are no other rights.

“And he also went on to say that when he talks about this issue with those that don’t agree, he asks two questions: Is it ever right to kill a child to solve a problem. And then he says the second question: Is it ever right to hire someone to kill a child to solve a problem? This is the clarity with which Pope Francis frames this issue.

“And, again, I think this whole idea as posturing this as denying people communion. We are calling everybody to integrity, including those in public life. And, yes, the president, the speaker, they have the right to disagree with us, but then they should say that. And, you know, when we bring somebody into the church from a Christian, but non-Catholic, there is an oath that people take. And it says: I believe and profess all that the Holy Catholic Church believes, teaches, and proclaims to be revealed by God. And, when we received the Eucharist, in essence, every time we receive it, we are affirming that as well.

Thanks.”

KAMALA HARRIS’ ASSAULT ON FREEDOM OF FAITH  -  WHAT WOULD SHE DO TO BELIEVERS AS PRESIDENT?

https://kamala-harris-sociopath.blogspot.com/2020/10/why-does-lawyer-kamala-harris-hate.html

Harris’s most important contribution to the Supreme Court debate thus far has been her controversial attempt to smear Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearing in 2018.

She insinuated that Kavanaugh was linked to Russian collusion — a claim so absurd that she was mocked by both of the major newspapers in her home state, the San Francisco Chronicle and the Los Angeles Times. Harris also drew criticism for a deceptively-edited video in which she falsely suggested Kavanaugh opposed birth control.

KAMALA HARRIS, THE GODLESS.

https://kamala-harris-sociopath.blogspot.com/2020/10/kamala-harris-godless-just-follow-money.html

Harris is no friend of religious liberty. Her recent decision to exclaim in the year of our Lord, which has been conveniently picked up by her staff, is a ploy designed to appeal to unassuming Christian voters impressed by "God talk." As the old adage says, actions speak louder than words, and on this score, Harris fails to convince.

It is the handmaidens working for Planned Parenthood who have joked about selling aborted baby body parts.  And it was Kamala Harris, when she was A.G. of California, who viciously prosecuted the young man who exposed that scandal, after she had received a hefty donation from Planned Parenthood.

THE SAN FRANCISCO CATHOLIC ARCHDIOCESE WAS VERY GENEROUS AFTER KAMAL HARRIS LET THEM AVOID PRISON…. JUST FOLLOW THE MONEY!

As most people know, prior to her being a Senator, she served as the chief prosecutor for the city of San Francisco.  Now, complaints are coming forward that she flat out refused to pursue criminal cases against Catholic priests who allegedly sexually battered children.

People who say they were victims of childhood sexual abuse call out Harris for not doing all that she could to prosecute their cases.

Sen. Hawley: At 15 Weeks, an Unborn Baby ‘Is Absolutely Human and Absolutely Entitled to the Right to Life’

(CNS News) -- Asked if an unborn child at 15 weeks is a human being, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO.) said, “She is absolutely human and absolutely entitled to the right to life.”

At the United States Capitol on Wednesday, CNS News asked Hawley: “The Supreme Court this fall will review a Mississippi law that bans most abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. Is an unborn baby at 15 weeks a human being?”

“Yes, absolutely,” Hawley replied. “Just because the baby is in the womb doesn’t mean that she is not human. She is absolutely human and absolutely entitled to the right to life.”

“It’s science. This isn’t difficult, this is science. We should embrace science,” the senator said, responding to his colleagues who have refused to answer the question.

Everyone is entitled to the same protections, regardless of appearance or stage of development, Sen. Hawley said:

“And this is a distinct life with distinct DNA and a distinct future that’s all her own. It’s a matter of science but it’s also a moral imperative. Just because someone looks differently than we do or is in a different stage of development doesn’t mean that she’s entitled to fewer protections and so I think that’s a really foundational American principle. I would hope that everybody would be able to recognize that.”

The Supreme Court will hear arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization this fall. The case, which addresses the constitutionality of pre-viability abortion bans, challenges the precedent set in Roe v. Wade, which prohibited abortion after 24 weeks of pregnancy.

At issue is a Mississippi law passed in 2018 prohibiting abortion after 15 weeks, except in certain outstanding circumstances.

(CNS News) -- In relation to the upcoming Supreme Court case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, CNSNews.com asked Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) whether a 15-week-old unborn baby is a human being.

"Oh, I'm not going to get into that at all," said Feinstein, who serves on the Senate Judiciary Committee. "Thank you, though."

Here is the full exchange CNSNews.com had with Feinstein at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday:

CNSNews.com: “In the fall, the Supreme Court is going to review a Mississippi law that bans most abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. So, my question is, do you believe that a baby, an unborn baby, at 15 weeks is a human being?”

Feinstein: “Do I what?”

Staff Assistant: “We can take that back, senator.”

Feinstein: “Yeah, let me--”

CNSNews.com: “Okay, thank you so much for your time, I really appreciate it.”

Feinstein: “What’s the question? That an unborn baby at what?”

CNSNews.com: “At 15 weeks is a human being?”

Feinstein: “Oh, I’m not going to get into that at all. Thank you, though.”

The Supreme Court will hear arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization this fall. Specifically, the court will seek to decide "whether all pre-viability prohibitions on elective abortions are unconstitutional."

In 2018, Mississippi passed a law that prohibits abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy, except in cases of a medical emergency or severe fetal abnormality. Under Roe v. Wade, abortions in most states are restricted past 24 weeks of pregnancy, the time at which an unborn baby is considered viable.

The SCOTUS blog reports that Dobbs v. Jackson is a case that could “upend the Supreme Court’s landmark decisions in Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, in which the court ruled that the Constitution protects the right to have an abortion before a fetus becomes viable.”

Pelosi Dodges Question on Whether a 15-Week-Old Unborn Baby is a Human Being

(CNSNews.com) - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) did not directly respond to a question from CNSNews.com—predicated on the upcoming Supreme Court case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization—on whether a 15-week-old unborn baby is a human being.

“Let me just say that I’m a big supporter of Roe vs. Wade,” Pelosi said.

Here is the full exchange between CNSNews.com and Pelosi:

Pelosi: “Yes, ma’am.”

CNSNews.com: “Thank you Madam Speaker. I am with CNSNews. The Supreme Court this fall will review a Mississippi law that bans most abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. Is an unborn baby at 15 weeks a human being?”

Pelosi: “Let me just say that I’m a big supporter of Roe vs. Wade. I am a mother of five children in six years. I think I have some standing on this issue as to respecting a woman’s right to choose.”

CNSnews.com: “Is it a human being?”

Without answering that question, Pelosi turned and pointed to another reporter, who she recognized by saying: “Yes. Yes, ma’am.”

This fall, the Supreme Court will hear arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

In its petition asking the Supreme Court not to take up this case, Jackson Women’s Health Organization described the question at issue as follows:

“Whether the Fifth Circuit correctly concluded that a Mississippi statute banning abortion after 15 weeks—months before viability—is unconstitutional under nearly fifty years of precedent holding that it is unconstitutional to ban abortion before viability, including Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Penn-sylvania v. Casey, 505 U.S. 833 (1992), and Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt, 136 S. Ct. 2292 (2016).”

Biden on Whether Catholic Bishops Will Vote to Deny Him Holy Communion: ‘I Don’t Think That’s Going to Happen’

(CNSNews.com) – President Joe Biden said Friday that he doesn’t think the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops will deny him Communion based on his support for abortion.

After announcing that 300 million COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the first 150 days of his presidency, Biden was asked by a reporter whether he’s concerned about the “rift within the Catholic Church” and the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops moving on a resolution to deny him and other Democratic politicians who support abortion from receiving Communion.

“That’s a private matter, and I don’t think that’s going to happen,” he said.

On Thursday, U.S. Catholic bishops voted 168 to 55 in favor of establishing guidelines on the meaning of Holy Communion. The move is seen as a move towards denying Biden communion.

“As a result of the vote, the USCCB’s doctrine committee will draft a statement on the meaning of Communion in the life of the church that will be submitted for consideration at a future meeting, probably an in-person gathering in November. To be formally adopted, the document would need support of two-thirds of the bishops,” the Associated Press reported.

“One section of the document is intended to include a specific admonition to Catholic politicians and other public figures who disobey church teaching on abortion and other core doctrinal issues,” according to the AP.
