President Joe Biden claimed on Tuesday that January 6 rioters are worse than slave-owning Confederates in the Civil War because they breached the U.S. Capitol.

During a Tuesday speech in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Biden mocked Republicans for their attempts to pass voter integrity legislation.

He said:

The assault on free and fair elections is just such a threat — literally. I’ve said it before. We’re facing the most significant test of our democracy since the Civil War. It’s not hyperbole — since the Civil War. Confederates, back then, never breached the Capitol as insurrectionists did on January 6. I’m not saying this to alarm you. I’m saying this because you should be alarmed. 

While it is true Confederate soldiers never breached the U.S. Capitol, the Civil War was the nation’s bloodiest war, with an estimated 750,000 deaths. 

The only person who died as a direct result of violence in the January 6 riot was Ashli Babbitt, a United States Air Force veteran. She was unarmed when she was fatally shot by a Capitol Police officer as she climbed through a broken door into the Speaker’s Lobby.

Three other people who died had medical emergencies, and Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick suffered two strokes at the base of his brainstem as a result of a blood clot in an artery the day after the riot, Breitbart News reported.

Before his “not-hyperbole,” Biden said that “bullies and merchants of fear and peddlers of lies are threatening the very foundation of our country,” in reference to the GOP.

He continued:

I never thought in my entire career I would have to say it. But I swore an oath to you and to God to preserve protect and defend the Constitution. That’s an oath that forms a sacred trust to defend America against all threats both foreign and domestic. 

Biden’s remarks came after Texas Democrats fled their state on Monday in protest against election integrity measures. The lawmakers were seen “gleefully smiling en route to D.C. with a case of beer, which requires a photo ID to purchase,” Breitbart News reported. 

Border Patrol Apprehends 1 Million Migrants in 2021

Border Patrol agents apprehended more than 178,000 migrants in June along the U.S. border with Mexico, marking the largest single-month increase since March. The increasing number of apprehensions led to a total of 1,076,242 migrants apprehended so far this fiscal year.

During the month of June, when migrant apprehensions generally decrease, Border Patrol agents apprehended 178, 416 migrants — an increase of 5,789, according to the June Southwest Land Border Encounters report released by CBP officials on Friday. The increased apprehensions came in the categories of Family Units and Unaccompanied Minors which rose by 25 and eight percent respectively. Single Adult apprehensions fell by 4,537.

Because of the extreme heat and other dangerous smuggling conditions, migrant rescues this year rose dramatically, CBP reports. During the first nine months of this fiscal year (October through June), migrant rescues hit 9,500. This represents an 81 percent increase over the entire Fiscal Year 2020, officials stated.

“We are in the hottest part of the summer, and we are seeing a high number of distress calls to CBP from migrants abandoned in treacherous terrain by smugglers with no regard for human life,” CBP Acting Commissioner Troy Miller said in a written statement. “Although CBP does everything it can to locate and rescue individuals who are lost or distressed, the bottom line is this: the terrain along the border is extreme, the summer heat is severe, and the miles of desert migrants must hike after crossing the border in many areas are unforgiving.”

During the month of June, CBP officials expelled nearly 105,000 migrants to Mexico under Title 42 coronavirus protection protocols put in place during the Trump administration by the Centers for Disease Control and prevention. “The majority of all June encounters resulted in a Title 42 expulsion,” CBP officials stated.

However, the Biden administration may cancel this program in July Breitbart News’ Edwin Mora reported. ““President Biden has been briefed on a plan for stopping family expulsions by the end of July, as well as the option of letting a court end it,” according to a report by Axios.

In June, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayoras formally ended the Trump administration’s Migrant Protection Protocol that virtually ended “Catch and Release” programs of past administration. During the month of June, DHS officials processed more than 12,000 people into the United States who had been returned to Mexico under MPP, the report states.

Gulf Cartel Frees Captured Commander From Mexican Border City Hospital

A group of Gulf Cartel gunmen broke out one of their commanders from police custody at a Mexican border city hospital. That commander had been injured and captured while successfully rescuing one of their top regional bosses earlier this week. Police recaptured the commander after several hours police.

The rescue took place on Saturday afternoon in the border city of Reynosa, Tamaulipas, when a group of at least four gunmen stormed the city’s General Hospital. The gunmen held the security guards at gunpoint while they rescued a man identified as Juan Francisco Vasquez, also known as Juanito, information provided to Breitbart Texas by the Tamaulipas government revealed.

The gunmen arrived in one vehicle but stole another vehicle on their way out. They used the stolen vehicle as part of their getaway strategy. Gulf Cartel gunmen also set up multiple roadblocks throughout the city in an attempt to slow down law enforcement responding to the scene. Tamaulipas state authorities set up a large-scale manhunt in an attempt to recapture Juanito. After several hours of searching police managed to rearrest him. Details of the second arrest have not been divulged by authorities.

The rescue of Juanito comes just days after more than 30 Gulf Cartel gunmen, including several former and current Mexican Army soldiers, set up a large-scale operation to rescue Jose Alfredo “Metro 27 or Calamardo” Hernandez Campos — a top regional boss for the criminal organization. As Breitbart Texas reported, state prosecutors were moving the man known as Metro 27 to a court hearing when the gunmen intercepted them and took their leader at gunpoint in an operation where they deployed armored SUVs with mounted 50 caliber machine guns and rifles.

It was during a subsequent manhunt in an attempt to recapture Metro 27 that authorities injured Juanito and captured some of his men. As part of an ongoing investigation, authorities determined that for that rescue operation, the Gulf Cartel used current and former Mexican Army soldiers and at least one former Mexican Navy marine. Authorities have not been able to recapture Metro 27 who currently controls one of the busiest human and drug smuggling corridors for the Gulf Cartel.
