Weekly Biden Report Card D-: Zogby ‘miserable,’ Babbin #Bidenflation worsens

This week’s White House Report Card finds President Biden bumping along a rocky path that includes a surging border crisis, spreading inflation, concerns about his infrastructure bill, a wobbly CNN town hall and a weak show against Russia.

Democratic pollster John Zogby gave one of his lowest grades of the new administration, a D-, and cited “a miserable week” that also included a court loss for Biden’s amnesty plan for illegal immigrants brought into the U.S. as kids and teens.
Conservative analyst Jed Babbin also graded a D-, and focused on the government’s wild spending that could push inflation further. He explained his version of “#Bidenflation” that could lead to record debt.

My job is to be honest. I like Joe Biden as president and, like a majority of U.S. voters, I overall approve the job he is doing. But this was a miserable week for him.
The old cliche 'if wishes were horses' rings true. His wishes are noble but I have to give him a weekly grade on actual horses (and their by-products). Unemployment claims went up substantially this week and even Biden had to issue a warning about the economy sputtering for now. He lost a procedural vote on the 'bipartisan' hard infrastructure bill, suggesting that the bill itself is in jeopardy. And there are now about 30,000 new cases per day of the COVID-19, mainly the Delta strain, in all 50 states -- and CDC officials say things will get worse before they get better. A federal judge stopped the president's DACA program calling it discriminatory and, while he has announced that he will fight that ruling, we are still judging this week.
Better days may be ahead, but not this week.

It was another week like those we’ve become used to from the Biden administration. The president said there were 12 people on Facebook killing other people, he gave Russian President Vladimir Putin a huge present in the form of the Nordstream 2 pipeline agreement, he’s still pushing for another inflation-driving spending bill and the border crisis, which he created, is worsening every day.
#Bidenflation took a starring role this week. I define it to mean price increases caused by wild government overspending, the prescribed cure for which is more government spending. The Democrats are loading things such as amnesty for illegal aliens and tax increases in their next $3.5+ trillion spending bill. Republicans thwarted it briefly with a filibuster but the proponents will likely end-run the filibuster by including it in another budget reconciliation bill. Our national debt is soon going to be over $30 trillion.
How much is a trillion dollars? If you laid $100 bills end to end, considering that the Earth’s diameter is about 8,000 miles, you’d go around the earth 8.8 times before you got to $1 trillion.
Biden handed Putin a big strategic and economic win by agreeing with Germany to lift all sanctions on the construction of the Nordstream 2 pipeline. Biden’s pathetically weak agreement calls for sanctions if Russia cuts off the gas supply to Germany, which Russia can do at any time. The deal deprives Ukraine of the tariffs they charge for Russian gas piped through that country.
The border mess is getting worse all the time. Illegal aliens -- the ones who are apprehended -- are forecast to number at least 1.8 million this year. Meanwhile the “gotaways” -- those who aren’t caught while entering the U.S -- reportedly are estimated to number about 1,000 per day. Meanwhile, fentanyl smuggling has increased nearly 80% since last year. The drug cartels are predictably taking advantage of Biden’s open borders.
A poor jobs report reaffirmed that whatever you subsidize -- in this case, unemployment with such high benefits to the unemployed that they make more by not working -- you get more of. Biden expressed no sympathy for small businesses that can’t hire enough workers. Meanwhile, he said he favored banning 9mm pistols. And, riffing off an NPR story, he said that about a dozen people were killing other people with misinformation on Facebook in an attempt to justify the unjustifiable White House collusion with FB to censor individuals’ free speech.
