Poll: Joe Biden Net Approval with Independents Crashes 18 Points Since April

A Wednesday poll reveals registered independents are driving down President Joe Biden’s approval ratings with concerns over the president’s handling of inflation, immigration, and the Chinese coronavirus.

The poll by Morning Consult/Politico warns “Biden’s general reputation among unaffiliated voters” is “exposing an early problem for his party to remedy with 14 months to go until the midterm elections.”

Among registered independents, 44 percent of independent voters approve of Biden and 49 percent disapprove. His net approval “has dropped 18 percentage points among unaffiliated voters” since April.

Since June, registered independents have increasingly disapproved of Biden’s “handling of the economy and the pandemic” by “9 and 13 points, respectively, to 51 percent and 43 percent.”

The poll also suggests Biden is to blame for the “13-year high in inflation” and worsening immigration crisis, handing the President a 54 percent disapproval rating on the inflow of unvaccinated migrants on the southern border.

Breitbart reported Monday that Biden’s approval rating dropped ten points in 60 days to 52 percent, according to a Harvard CAPS-Harris survey.

The Monday poll also revealed 47 percent of Americans believe the nation is on the wrong track, compared to 39 percent who believed so in June. Even worse, the survey suggested 49 percent believe the Biden inflation ridden economy is on the wrong track, increasing from 42 percent in June.

As Wednesday’s poll indicates, inflation may be the lead driver in Biden’s dropping approval rating.

A Morning Consult poll released July 28 shows that 59 percent of “registered voters hold Biden’s economic policies responsible for rise in inflation in the United States, compared with 53% who point to Americans’ return to pre-pandemic behaviors.”

The Morning Consult/Politico survey was conducted between July 31-August 2 among 1998 registered voters.

A federal judge on Tuesday blocked Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R) executive order that sought to prevent non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from bussing border crossers and illegal aliens into the United States’ interior.

On Tuesday, District Judge Kathleen Cardone, appointed by former President George W. Bush, issued a temporary restraining order against Abbott’s order that barred NGOs from providing ground transportation to border crossers and illegal aliens who have been detained by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) or who have been ordered removed under the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Title 42 authority.

The order also permitted Texas state troopers to “stop any vehicle upon reasonable suspicion” of transporting border crossers and illegal aliens and “to reroute such a vehicle back to its point of origin or a port of entry if a violation is confirmed” as well as allowing state troopers to impound vehicles that are caught violating the order.

Cardone’s decision came after President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ) filed a lawsuit against Texas after Attorney General Merrick Garland called the order “both dangerous and unlawful.”

Cardone writes:

This Court has jurisdiction over the subject matter of this case, there is good cause to believe it will have jurisdiction over all the parties, and venue in this district is proper. The United States is likely to prevail on its claims that Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s “executive order No. GA-37 relating to the transportation of migrants during the COVID-19 disaster,” issued on July 28, 2021 (“Executive Order”), violates the Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution because (1) it conflicts with, and poses an obstacle to, federal immigration law; and (2) it directly regulates the federal government’s operations.

The Executive Order causes irreparable injury to the United States and to individuals the United States is charged with protecting, jeopardizing the health and safety of

3. The balance of equities and the public interest also favor the United States.

4. The Court requires a fuller presentation of the facts and law before entering an order on Plaintiff’s application for a preliminary injunction.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Defendants, their agents, officers, and employees, and all other persons and entities in active concert or participation with them, are ENJOINED, pending a full hearing on Plaintiff’s application for a preliminary injunction, from enforcing the Executive Order.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that this temporary restraining order shall remain in force until the 13th day of August, 2021, at 8:00 a.m., or until such later date as may be extended by the Court or agreed upon by the parties. Pursuant to Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 65, the parties shall appear before this Court on August 13, 2021, at 8:00 a.m., for a hearing on Plaintiff’s application for a preliminary injunction.

As Breitbart News reported, the latest data reveals that the Department of Homeland Security has released about 173,000 border crossers and illegal aliens into the U.S. interior — some of which have been found to skip out on their quarantine and continue traveling into the country despite having coronavirus.

The case is U.S. v. Texas, No. 3:21-cv-00173-KC in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas.

EXCLUSIVE: ICE HQ Denies Deportation for Visa Overstay Convicted of Computer Thefts

On Tuesday, ICE Agents were denied authorization by the ICE Command Center in Washington, D.C. to arrest a felon released from a Texas prison after he completed a 30-month sentence for stealing more than 60 laptop computers. The denial effectively allowed the person to avoid deportation.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, an ICE agent informed Breitbart Texas about the denial to arrest and process the foreign national for removal. The source adds that most of such calls to Washington end with negative responses.

The migrant was arrested by the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) after a joint operation. The suspect was found to be a visa overstay and had no right to remain in the United States, according to the source.

The source relayed Washington’s justification, noting that he did not pose a danger to the general public.

The source says many within ICE are frustrated that permanent guidance on arrest priorities from DHS Secretary Mayorkas have not been finalized. The agency is still relying on an enforcement priorities memorandum issued by Acting ICE Director Tae Johnson.

The policy, instituted in February, requires limits on immigration enforcement actions at the field level to “at entry” migrants and those migrants suspected of involvement in terrorist activity or previously convicted of an aggravated felony. In most other cases, approval from ICE headquarters must be sought before any enforcement actions can take place.

As reported previously by Breitbart Texas, migrants convicted of criminal offenses are routinely released in lieu of removal due to the restrictive nature of the policy.

Texas Democrat Border County Judge Signs Disaster Declaration for Migrants, COVID

A Texas Democratic county judge issued a disaster declaration due to the “substantial” number of migrants, including those with COVID-19, who are released into his community by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The same politician previously opposed a related disaster declaration by Texas Governor Greg Abbott, claiming the region was not at crisis levels to justify the move.

This week, Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez signed his declaration stating that “U.S. Customs and Border Protection is releasing an alarmingly substantial number of immigrants.” According to the document, the release of the migrants is overwhelming the City of McAllen and local non-governmental organizations which can “no longer adequately feed, house, provide medical attention, or otherwise accommodate” them.

The declaration is set to last seven days, allowing the county government to activate an emergency management plan and thereby access funds allocated for disasters.

According to the declaration, the current COVID-19 pandemic has the region at a hospitalization rate higher than 18, which is considered high. The added strain by the migrant influx places the region at risk and “extraordinary measures must be taken to protect the public health, safety and general well-being” of the community.

Cortez recently invited President Joe Biden to visit the border to see the challenges created by current federal actions. The move comes after the revelation that several COVID-19 positive migrants were released and caused stirs in cities like La Joya and Weslaco–where local officials criticize Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley for their lack of transparency in the episodes.

Cortez opposed a disaster declaration by Governor Abbott in May. Abbott sent hundreds of state troopers to border cities where cartels are focused on human smuggling and trafficking operations.

Cortez says his declaration is different than the governor’s because he addresses asylum-seeking migrants, while Abbott focuses on illegal immigration.
