Democrats: Passage of Infrastructure Bill Is Step Toward Massive Amnesty

PHILADELPHIA, PA - JULY 27: on the third day of the Democratic National Convention at the Wells Fargo Center, July 27, 2016 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton received the number of votes needed to secure the party's nomination. An estimated 50,000 people are expected in Philadelphia, including …

Senate and House Democrats are relishing in the passage, with the help of 19 Senate Republicans, of a so-called bipartisan infrastructure bill which they see as a building block toward a massive amnesty plan for millions of illegal aliens.

On Tuesday, in a 69-30 vote, 19 Senate Republicans joined all 50 Senate Democrats to pass the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which does not include a provision to ensure American infrastructure jobs go to American citizens rather than illegal aliens.

Those 19 Senate Republicans include:

Dan Sullivan (R-AK), Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Mike Crapo (R-ID), Roy Blunt (R-MO), Richard Burr (R-NC), Deb Fischer (R-NE), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Rob Portman (R-OH), Thom Tillis (R-NC), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Jim Risch (R-ID), Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Kevin Cramer (R-ND), Roger Wicker (R-MS), Mitch McConnell (R-KY), John Hoeven (R-ND), Susan Collins (R-ME), and Mitt Romney (R-UT)

Now, House and Senate Democrats are saying the passage of the infrastructure bill is vital to passing their $3.5 trillion budget resolution which, among other things, would give amnesty to millions of illegal aliens enrolled and eligible for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, foreigners with Temporary Protected Status (TPS), those working on farms, and those considered “essential” workers.

The amnesty would cost American taxpayers around $107 billion, though the cost in depressed and lost wages for the nation’s working and middle class would likely boost that estimate significantly.

On August 9 on the Senate floor, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) made clear to Senate Republicans that Democrats’ end goal was to pass the infrastructure bill to then pass the multi-trillion dollar budget with amnesty.

“As we move forward, we’re proceeding on both tracks — the track of the bipartisan infrastructure proposal and the track of the budget resolution with reconciliation instructions,” Schumer said.

Sen. Jim Banks (R-IN), chairman of the Republican Study Committee, warned Senate Republicans that by withholding votes for the infrastructure bill, the GOP was also stopping in its tracks the Democrats’ amnesty plan.

Rep. Ayanna Presley (D-MA) suggested in an interview with National Public Radio that she will consider voting against the infrastructure bill unless the Senate passes the Democrats’ budget resolution with amnesty:

What progressives have been clear about since day one, as has President Biden, as has Democratic leadership, is that any vote on the narrow bipartisan infrastructure package must also come with a movement on a massive investment in tandem for workers and families.

“And that’s care economy, housing, combating climate change, and a pathway to citizenship for millions of our immigrant neighbors,” Presley continued.

Similarly, Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) said Senate Democrats would “continue our work to deliver even bolder investments in child & elder care, immigration, and climate action” after passing the infrastructure bill.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) solidified on Wednesday that the infrastructure bill is directly tied to Democrats’ budget framework with amnesty, telling the media that she will not allow a vote in the House on the infrastructure bill until the Senate passes the budget.

“The votes in the House and Senate depend on us having both bills,” Pelosi said.

Already, Pelosi is facing backlash from her caucus with swing district House Democrats asking her to untie the infrastructure bill from the Democrat budget with amnesty.

“This is part and parcel,” Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-TN) told SiriusXM Patriot’s Breitbart News Daily. “It’s a two-part plan to transform America, as Bernie Sanders has said. He’s been the author of this, and what we’re seeing is the actual realization of Joe Biden’s promise during the campaign to transform America.”

Hagerty, along with 29 other Senate Republicans, voted against the infrastructure bill.

Senate Democrats Open Amnesty Plan to Convicted Criminal Illegal Aliens

Senate Democrats have left the door open for convicted criminal illegal aliens to benefit from an amnesty slipped into their $3.5 trillion budget resolution.

This week, Senate Democrats unveiled the budget framework, which includes a series of instructions for various Senate committees to craft specific plans. As such, the framework instructs the Senate Judiciary Committee to spend $107 billion in American taxpayer money on amnesty for illegal aliens.

Early Wednesday morning, all 50 Senate Democrats voted against an amendment by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) which would ban illegal aliens with criminal records from getting amnesty. All 49 Senate Republicans supported the amendment.

“We shouldn’t allow criminals to enter our country and become American citizens. Plain and simple,” Grassley said in a statement.

The rejection of the amendment in the Senate indicates that Democrats could include convicted criminal illegal aliens as beneficiaries in their amnesty plan. The details have not yet been hammered out. Grassley said:

I was glad to author this commonsense amendment to help ensure we don’t reward people who have a track record of breaking the law. Unfortunately, my Democratic colleagues all voted against this amendment and halted our efforts to stop criminal illegal immigrants from receiving citizenship.

Likewise, all 50 Senate Democrats voted down an amendment by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) that would have made permanent the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) Title 42 authority that allows federal immigration officials to quickly return border crossers to their native countries for the sake of American public health.

For months, the Biden administration has considered ending Title 42. Experts have warned that such a move would invite an even larger flood of illegal immigration to the United States-Mexico border.

Meanwhile, 93 Senate Democrats voted with Republicans in support of Sen. Roger Marshall’s amendment to ban the federal government from releasing coronavirus-positive border crossers and illegal aliens into American communities.

Eleven Democrats voted against the amendment, including Sens. Cory Booker (D-NJ), Martin Heinrich (D-NM), Mazie Hirono (D-HI), Ben Ray Lujan (D-NM), Ed Markey (D-MA), Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Chris Murphy (D-CT), Jon Ossoff (D-GA), Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Tina Smith (D-MN), and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).

Another amendment, proposed by Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-TN), to authorize the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency to deport more convicted criminal illegal aliens passed on a 53-46 vote with only Democrat Sens. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), Maggie Hassan (D-NH), Mark Kelly (D-AZ), and Jacky Rosen (D-NV) joining all 49 Senate Republicans.

The votes, at this moment, are largely symbolic as the Democrats’ $3.5 trillion budget resolution still has to go through a number of legislative hurdles.

Any amnesty plan crafted by Democrats is expected to give green cards, which lead to naturalized American citizenship, to millions of illegal aliens eligible for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), those with Temporary Protected Status (TPS), those working on U.S. farms, and those considered “essential” workers.

Biden’s DHS Keeps Illegal Alien Felon in U.S. at Behest of ‘Abolish ICE’ Activist

President Joe Biden’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has halted the deportation of an illegal alien convicted felon at the behest of an “Abolish ICE” activist, Fox News’s Tucker Carlson reports.

In a segment on Tucker Carlson Tonight, Carlson revealed that ICE Acting Director Tae Johnson has allowed illegal alien Marvin Jerezano Pena, a convicted felon, to remain in the United States after a request from Abolish ICE activist Tania Mattos with the open borders group Freedom for Immigrants.

Pena was once a recipient of former President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and, as Tucker notes, has a criminal record that includes robbery, simple assault, and drug charges. Likewise, Pena was ordered deported by a federal immigration judge in July 2020.

“Why would an NGO have control over U.S. government policy? But in fact, it’s happening and we can prove it,” Carlson said.

In emails obtained by Carlson, and undisputed by ICE officials, Mattos emailed an attorney with ICE asking for “assistance” in Pena’s case. Twenty minutes later, the ICE attorney had forwarded the email to Johnson’s chief of staff Tim Perry.

“Perry deemed that request so important that he requested his staff produce a report on Pena, then discussed the activists’ request on a call with ICE Director Tae Johnson,” Carlson explained:

[Perry] forwarded the criminal report to Johnson and said this ‘”I mentioned this on our call earlier, sharing.” Johnson responded “Gents — can we grant a 14 day stay of removal on this case to provide time to gather additional details.” An official responded “Will do.” [Emphasis added]

When Carlson reached out to ICE to inquire about the decision, officials confirmed that Pena has not been deported from the U.S. despite his criminal record and did not dispute any of the email exchanges and the orders from Mattos.

“This is what they’re doing as our border has turned into total chaos … our country is being invaded by the rest of the world — not just Mexico, not just Latin America, the whole world — and they’re worried about how they can keep a felon in our country without you knowing about it,” Carlson said.

“[The Biden administration] is working with the Abolish ICE movement which now has control over ICE … they no longer have to eliminate ICE, they’re in charge of it,” Carlson continued before ripping into House and Senate Republicans for inaction on the issue.

“How many convicted felons are still in this country because of people like this,” Carlson asked. Why is the Biden administration allowing this? Why are we putting up with it and where are Republicans in Congress? What’re they doing? Oh, voting for Pete Buttigieg’s infrastructure bill — 19 of them.”

As Breitbart News has reported, deportations of illegal aliens have plummeted under the Biden administration as a result of ICE’s insistence that judges use “prosecutorial discretion” when deciding whether illegal aliens should be deported from the U.S. and ICE’s “sanctuary country” orders that are helping about nine in ten illegal aliens evade arrest and deportation.

The latest data shows that just four in ten illegal aliens who go before a federal immigration judge are being ordered deported while 63 percent are being allowed to stay in the U.S. For comparison, in fiscal year 2020, more than seven in ten illegal aliens in immigration court were ordered deported while fewer than three in ten were allowed to remain in the U.S.
