22 Shot over Christmas Weekend in Lori Lightfoot’s Chicago
Twenty-two people were shot, two of them fatally, over Christmas weekend in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s (D) Chicago.
Breitbart News reported at least 18 people were shot Christmas Eve into Sunday morning and ABC 7 / Chicago Sun-Times notes the number of shooting victims was 22 by Monday morning.
The first shooting fatality of the weekend was discovered on Christmas Day around 10:40 p.m., when a 24-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to his head. The man was found “in the 3000-block of North Avers Avenue” and pronounced dead at the scene.
The second shooting fatality of the weekend occurred about 3:20 p.m. Sunday “in the 3900-block of West Madison Avenue.” A 37-year-old man was in a parking lot when a vehicle approached and someone inside the vehicle began shooting.
The 37-year-old was shot and transported to a hospital, where he died.
WGN9 pointed out that a drive-by shooting Sunday morning wounded three people inside a building “in the 6300 block of South Kedzie Avenue.”
The gunman in the drive-by was in a grey Dodge Durango and he began shooting at the building around 12:10 a.m. Two 23-year-old men and a 26-year-old man were wounded in the incident.
On December 21, 2021, Breitbart News observed that Lightfoot was seeking help from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) in the face of surging homicides and continued gun crime.

Support for BLM and BDS is Support for Hate and Violence
Robert A. Heinlein wrote that "The man who eats meat cannot sneer at the butcher." While it's legal to eat meat, it's illegal to attend dog fights. If people who attend dog fights didn't pay admission fees or place bets, the hands-on perpetrators would have no incentive to abuse the dogs.
We contend similarly that any organization that supports the Black Lives Matter Global Network is vicariously (if not legally) complicit in looting, rioting, anti-Semitism, support for Hamas, and incitement of violence against law enforcement professionals and others. Support for the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement is similarly tacit support for synagogue and church shootings similar to those at the Tree of Life Synagogue (Robert Bowers), bombings of pizza shops and Seders, rocket attacks, eradication of Israel "from the river to the sea," and violent abuse of Jews, Christians, and Arabs whom Hamas deems to be the wrong kinds of Muslims, women, and LGBT people.
We Don't Need Nazis for Animal Rights, or BLM for Civil Rights
We know animal abuse is wrong without input from the Nazi Party. We also know that Derek Chauvin should not have knelt on George Floyd's neck, and that three yahoos should not have chased Ahmaud Arbery and then provoked a deadly confrontation, without input from an organization that promotes the following behavior.
· BLM has incited looting similar to the Night of the Broken Glass, the only difference being that those on the receiving end come in all colors and religions, as opposed to only Jews. Police in Democrat-run cities have meanwhile been told to stand down the way German police stood aside during the Night of the Broken Glass.

· The BLM website published the libelous accusation that Kyle Rittenhouse murdered two people, thus suggesting that it is okay to attempt strong-arm robbery (Joseph Rosenbaum), attempt armed robbery and aggravated assault (Anthony Huber), and chase somebody with a drawn firearm (Gaige Grosskreutz), and that the victims of these actions had better not fight back.
· BLM and its associates have also made it clear that they think it is okay to point a gun at a cop's head and menace a teenage girl while armed (or unarmed per Joe Biden) with a knife -- and then they wonder why violent criminals of all races get shot by police and armed citizens of all races.
· Advocacy of arson, a felony that can create the same use of deadly force situations the organization protests.
· A (Caucasian) woman in a BLM hat gave an online tutorial about how to "remove" drivers from their cars, i.e. how to commit a violent felony good for a very long stay in prison, and of course for the lawful deployment of deadly force by the driver.
· Misuse 501(c)(3) tax exempt resources to influence the 2020 election.
· "Pigs in a blanket, fry 'em like bacon," relates to police officers in body bags, as does "Oink your last, pig," and "What do we want? Dead cops." These are the same so-called "pigs" who arrested Dylan Roof who was convicted of shooting up a Black church, and also the three yahoos who were convicted of murdering Ahmaud Arbery.
If we return to Robert Heinlein's original statement, any organization that stands behind BLM -- whether it's Cornell Law School faculty and graduates denouncing a professor for condemning it, Dean Eduardo Peñalver saying on behalf of Cornell's Law School that denunciation of BLM is contrary to the school's values, or Hardin-Simmons University forcing out a student for a video that points out accurately that BLM does not say the names of anybody but Black people who are killed by white people -- is supporting, in the long run, the behavior depicted above regardless of intention.
My only criticism of the Hardin-Simmons student is her omission of BLM's silence when violent criminals of any race kill police officers of any race. BLM is not saying David Dorn's name, whose Black life ceased to matter the instant he put on a blue uniform. The roughly eighteen Cornell Law faculty who denounced the attack on BLM also wrote that a police officer, who is identifiable from the context, "murdered" Breonna Taylor. Cornell's Black Law Student Association also said Taylor had been "murdered" and, if Cornell's Law School does not teach its students that a false public accusation of a crime is libel per se, this might not be the best place to study this profession.
If on the other hand these faculty members and the BLSA wanted to do something useful about civil rights, they could have published widely the fact that many attorneys will take false arrest cases on a contingency basis. This would help deter the small handful of police who still stop people for driving while Black; a practice once encouraged in Democrat-run New Jersey. In addition, "Portland [a solid Blue city] police data from 2011 shows blacks are more likely to be pulled over for equipment and license violations than white drivers."
Support for BDS is Support for Hamas
It is a felony (material support for a foreign terrorist organization) to send money to Hamas but it is legal to aid Hamas by harming Israel instead, and this is the agenda of the BDS movement. The American Studies Association joined an academic boycott of Israel, the Seattle Education Association joined the BDS movement, and Jewish Voice for Peace has openly promoted BDS for quite some time. This is also the agenda of Students for Justice in Palestine (justice in Palestine would require Israel to do with Hamas what the Allies did with the Nazis in 1945), the Muslim Students Association, the Council on American Islamic Relations, Rashida Tlaib, and Ilhan Omar.
Few if any of these organizations and people even criticize the behavior of "Palestinian civil society," including education of children to be suicide bombers, "pay to slay" compensation to the families of so-called martyrs, and a long litany of rocket attacks, the least of which would have drawn overwhelming retaliation from any country other than Israel. They certainly do not call for boycotts of Gaza, so it is very clear to me where they really stand.
Those who attend dog fights are partners to the organizers, those who purchase "crush videos" pay animal abusers to create them, those who download and share child pornography are partners to the hands-on exploiters of children, and those who import non-antique ivory support elephant poachers. Those who support BDS are similarly vicarious partners in the overall agenda of bombings, rocket attacks, massacres, and making the Middle East Judenrein.
Civis Americanus is the pen name of a contributor who remembers the lessons of history, and wants to ensure that our country never needs to learn those lessons again the hard way. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Result in Anti-Semitism
G. Tod Slone has written that "as a political ideology, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), has proven time and again to be against freedom, reason, and truth. Proponents of the ideology tend to be hypocrites and anti-white racists [.]"
In fact, DEI is also a pathway to anti-Semitism. In a recent Heritage Foundation Report titled "Inclusion Delusion: The Anti-Semitism of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Staff at Universities" the reader learns that
university DEI staff are better understood as political activists with a narrow and often radical political agenda rather than promoters of welcoming and inclusive environments. Many DEI staff are particularly unwelcoming toward Jewish students who, like the vast majority of Jews worldwide, feel a strong connection to the state of Israel. The political activism of DEI staff may help explain the rising frequency of antisemitic incidents on college campuses as well as the association between college and graduate education and higher levels of antisemitic attitudes.
Rather than promoting diversity and inclusion, universities may be contributing to an increase in anti-Jewish hatred by expanding DEI staff and power.
While DEI staff are supposed to prevent hate/bias incidents directed at any student group -- in fact, they have "ethical, legal, and practical obligations" to do so, it appears that "not only do DEI staff fail to attend to Jewish concerns, including scheduling events on Jewish holidays but there have been reports of diversity officials expressing antisemitic attitudes."
For example, Kamau Bobb, the head of diversity at Google, wrote that Jews have an "insatiable appetite for war" and an "insensitivity to the suffering [of] others."
His punishment -- he was reassigned to work on STEM education efforts for Google.
The methodology used by Heritage to examine the anti-Semitism of DEI officials consisted of available Twitter accounts. Of the "633 tweets regarding Israel, 96% were critical of the Jewish state. Of the tweets regarding China, 62% expressed favorable sentiment."
It turns out that "DEI have a disproportionate interest in Israel relative to China and are far more likely to be critical of Israel than they are of China" -- the communist nation where totalitarianism reigns supreme with "severe internal repression of political dissent and private corporations," where Muslim Uyghurs are forced to donate their organs, and Falun Gong are tortured in Chinese labor camps.
Surely those who are "genuinely interested in human rights around the world [as the DEI operatives claim] have many more reasons to be paying attention to China than to Israel."
Unsurprising, DEI staff engage in standard anti-Israel sentiment with the use of the word “apartheid” although the only apartheid in the Middle East comes from the Arab world, not Israel where "Arabs are proportionately represented in the Knesset and head all their municipalities, schools and religious courts."
Furthermore, in the Israeli national election of 2021, the Ra'am Party became the first Arab party to join a governing coalition. In addition, "Arabs hold 10 seats in the 24th Knesset, four of which are held by Ra'am. Israeli Arabs have also held various government posts and one Arab currently serves on the Israeli Supreme Court."
Yet, according to the Heritage Report, "public communications of DEI staff embrace the genocidal phrase from the river to the sea" which means the eradication of Israel.
How comfortable DEI organizations are with Critical Race Theory sheds enormous light on the trajectory of their biases.
Crystal Borde, Vice President, Diversity + Inclusion at Vanguard Communications in an article titled "How to Contribute to Black Lives Matter Dialogue with a DEI Lens" is an illustrative example.
Filled with anti-American attitudes about "systemic and structural racism in the United States" Borde asserts that "these organizations no longer want to be neutral in this fight against inequities and injustice."
They want to contribute and support the conversation and reflect the best standards of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in their communications. But this is a complicated, layered conversation with a long traumatic history and generations of impacted communities. How can communicators help their organizations find the best messaging, strategies and tactics to contribute to this conversation?
And they are not confining themselves to colleges. Timothy Nerozzi explains how "a public school system in Michigan spent 21 days teaching adults in the district how to be good 'equity' allies, with a direct call for them to join a Black Lives Matter political protest."
To the uninformed, Black Lives Matter is an avowed Marxist organization that is bent on destroying America and is filled with hatred for Jews and Israel.
Yet, at the University of Louisville, the DEI is proud to share its commitment with BLM because "White supremacy and anti-Black views have no room in our classrooms, meetings, conferences and scholarly work." Thus, the Department of Comparative Humanities at the University supports
Black Lives Matter and the fight against systemic racism, anti-Black oppression, white supremacy, and police brutality. We will seek to increase the number of African American, Indigenous, and immigrant faculty, staff, and students in our department and at the university."
It is no accident that as universities have become more "woke," anti-Semitism finds a comfortable haven. In an all too familiar scene "during a student-government meeting, protesters slurred Jewish students with conspiratorial charges that the Israeli military has trained American police how better to kill blacks. Campuses now routinely ignore student antisemitic smears; indeed, universities and colleges are becoming the incubators of progressive hatred of Jews." At a recent Rutgers webinar, lies about Israel and Jews abounded as Middle East studies professors engaged in unbridled hatred.
Where are the outcries from the diversity, equity, inclusion staff?
Anti-Semitism is now a staple of the woke activism on campuses across the country. In actuality, "campus 
anti-Semitism… stems from 'woke' black activism. 'Woke' politics is a radical ideology with roots in a strain of black nationalism that rejected the civil rights movement’s goal to promote racial integration throughout American society."
More telling is the fact that "[w]okeness’ paranoia of whites is… structured similarly to Jew hatred, priming black nationalists to articulate anti-Semitism as they would anti-whiteness."
In a nutshell, the Jew is the enemy because of his religion and his skin color. Consequently, "the toxicity of anti-Semitism, reminding us that even among American blacks, a group once allied with Jews in the struggle for civil rights, can manifest behind a veil of 'woke politics' and 'diversity.' Thus, [r]ace-nationalist demagogues pour contempt on Jews and depict them as a hidden force guiding human events to the misfortune of others."
It was inevitable that the Left would create yet another avenue to spew their vile beliefs and thus was incubated the diversity, inclusion, and equity programs that have not only infiltrated schools but businesses as well.
In fact, the "number of people devoted to DEI efforts has grown to about 45 people at the average university."
At the University of Michigan, for example, 163 people were identified as having formal responsibility for providing DEI programming and services. At the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), there were 13.3 times as many people devoted to promoting DEI as providing services to people with disabilities. At Georgia Tech, there were 3.2 times as many DEI staff people as history professors. At the University of Louisville, the ratio of DEI personnel to history faculty was 2.9. The University of Virginia had 6.5 DEI staff for every 100 professors.
And yet, the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion folks stand mute in the face of bigotry against Jews. It would appear that the DEI programs at universities are merely the handmaidens of racist BLM activists and other radical Leftist proponents.

San Francisco State University Prof Says Jewish Pot is Making Black Men Gay

Wesley Muhammad believes that the U.S. government and the Jews are using marijuana to make black men gay. The “Pot Plot” is a popular theory in Muhammad’s Nation of Islam cult.
At the Saviours Day Convention in Chicago, an official Nation of Islam event, Wesley Muhammad claimed that, "It is Jewish genius that has helped… to weaponize the weed so that it may effeminize the black male of America. And be clear, it is Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam that is standing in between the total demasculinization of the black man in America.”
Some years back, Wesley Muhammad's lecture, “How to Make a Homosexual: The Scientific Assault on Black America" was canceled at a Philly black beauty expo because of its hateful content. But what wasn't good enough for the 23rd Annual International Locks Conference, a black natural hair expo, is unfortunately all too welcome at San Francisco State University.
It’s not too surprising that a black “wholistic” hair expo has higher standards than the most antisemitic university in America. Or that Muhammad fits in so well at SFSU.
"It is clear that the two most powerful lobbies in America - the Jewish and the Homosexual - are hellbent on the information in this lecture, "How To Make A Homosexualm (sic)" NEVER makes it to the public's awareness," Muhammad complained on Facebook.
San Francisco State University has however been happy to provide Muhammad with a platform despite no shortage of ethnically Jewish and gay people on the faculty and in the administration.
Wesley Muhammad's bio at the taxpayer-funded university notes that he is a lecturer in the Africana Studies Department of SFSU's College of Ethnic Studies. It mentions his publications in the Final Call newspaper of the Nation of Islam hate group, and his book, "Understanding the Assault on the Black Man, Black Manhood and Black Masculinity" which contains thoughtful chapters such as "Why Saggin is Faggin" and "Birth of the Black Man (God)".
It also notes that Muhammad is a "helper of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan" and a member of the executive council of the Nation of Islam hate group, and mentions his role in Tariq Nasheed's Buck Breaking documentary which claimed that black people were a master race and that white slave owners turned black men gay.
"I thank the Honorable Brother Minister Farrakhan for granting me permission to return to the place that I love, the classroom,” a Facebook account with Muhammad’s name posted. “This Pestilence From Heaven has made it possible for me do the Labor that I love at the Headquarters of my Beloved Nation of Islam AND teach about Black Religion and the Black God in the Africana Studies Department at San Francisco State University."
"All Praises Belongs (sic) To Allah," he concluded.
A course listing shows Muhammad teaching courses on “Black Religion” and “Malcolm X in the Context of Black Nationalism”. The courses are taught online which apparently allows Muhammad, a top official in the Nation of Islam, to teach remotely.
That the Nation of Islam killed Malcolm X only adds another layer to this obscene farce.
By describing the pandemic as a "pestilence from heaven", Muhammad echoed Farrakhan's remarks that the coronavirus was one of Allah's "great plagues". But Muhammad additionally claimed that "we've documented the first area codes that were devastated by coronavirus in America were Jewish area codes" implying that the virus was aimed by Allah at the Jews.

A lecturer celebrating the coronavirus and claiming that black gay men are the products of a Jewish conspiracy may seem out of place on today’s college campuses where a Chinese composer was forced out of the classroom for showing an Othello movie and at Yale an American Indian student faced the threat of sanctions for a party invite touting fried chicken, but there are two sets of rules. And at SFSU, the bigots have always enjoyed the second set.
In the 90s, Khalid Muhammad, another Nation of Islam figure, was invited to deliver a speech by the Pan Afrikan Student Union which advertised tickets as being $7 for students and $15 for "Zionists, Uncle Toms and other white supremacists." During his speech Muhammad ranted about "hook-nosed, bagel-eating, lox-eating, perpetrating-a-fraud so-called Jews" and urged his racist audience to "use violence when necessary."
These days though Nation of Islam officials aren’t just SFSU campus speakers, but lecturers.
It’s all part of the ugly atmosphere of antisemitic hatred that has been mainstreamed at the public university where taxpayers pay the bills for the professors and groups that hate them.
SFSU was also where, more recently, Muhammad Hammad, the president of the General Union of Palestine Students, was investigated after making violent threats toward Jews.
San Francisco State University had been ground zero for campus antisemitism. It was where Hatem Bazian, the co-founder of Students for Justice in Palestine, the hate group that now has chapters on many campuses, got his start. A column by the coordinator for SF's Jewish Community Relations Council described the scene as "Hatem Bazian and a group of about 25 students storm the offices of the student newspaper, the Golden Gater. They destroy hundreds of copies of that day's edition. They yell anti-Semitic and racist epithets in the newsroom".
Since then not much has changed.
A lawsuit filed more recently in 2017 by Jewish students charged that, "SFSU has not merely fostered and embraced anti-Jewish hostility — it has systematically supported these departments and student groups as they have doggedly organized their efforts to target, threaten, and intimidate Jewish students on campus and deprive them of their civil rights and their ability to feel safe and secure as they pursue their education.”
Earlier this year, SFSU's Rabab Abdulhadi, the faculty advisor for GUPS, took part in a seminar featuring a terrorist airplane hijacker after having already met with that same terrorist during an SFSU funded trip. No wonder that SFSU was one of the universities singled out by the David Horowitz Freedom Center as one of the “Top Ten Schools Supporting Terrorists”.
At San Francisco State University, the question isn’t whether it’s an antisemitic campus, but just how antisemitic it is. And even by SFSU standards, the “pot plot” is a new low. At San Francisco’s premier public university, students can not only interact with faculty who support terrorists, but who believe that the Jews are using marijuana to turn black men gay.

Comedian Dave Chappelle’s The Closer: A racist tirade disguised as stand-up comedy
On October 5, veteran US comedian David Chappelle premiered his latest stand-up comedy special The Closer on Netflix.
Chapelle’s 72-minute special, however, is not comedy so much as it is a racist rant. No other major American entertainment figure in recent memory has openly advocated anti-Semitism and gloated over racist violence directed against Asians, whom he foully chooses to identify with the COVID-19 pandemic, in this manner.

He recalls being ill with COVID-19 and watching videos of black people assaulting Asian Americans, asserting, “I couldn’t help but feel like, when I saw these brothers beating these Asians up, that’s probably what’s happening inside of my body.”
Amid a ferocious campaign by the fascist right to demonize China, anti-Asian hate crimes have surged in the United States. In many instances, those engaging in violence against Asian Americans invoked the libel that China was responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic.
Immediately following his anti-Asian comments, Chappelle likened Jewish people to an invasive alien species: “So they come back to Earth, and they decide they want to claim the Earth for their very own. Pretty good plot line, huh? I call it ‘Space Jews.’”
Chapelle roots these remarks in his advocacy of racial identity politics. As he says, “Gay people are minorities, until they need to be White again.” Chapelle holds a view of the world in which racial and sexual identities are locked in a zero-sum game, so that an advance in gay rights or women’s rights is a defeat for black rights.
The New York Times’s columnist Roxane Gay, a race and gender zealot, condemns Chapelle’s special as a “joyless tirade of incoherent and seething rage, misogyny, homophobia and transphobia.” However, she goes on to claim that Chappelle “delivers five or six lucid moments of brilliance.” She praises his “interesting and accurate observation about the white gay community conveniently being able to claim whiteness at will. There’s a compelling observation about the relatively significant progress the L.G.B.T.Q. community has made, while progress toward racial equity has been much slower.” That is, Gay agrees with Chapelle’s premises but perhaps not all his conclusions. It is worth noting that she says nothing about Chapelle’s anti-Asian and anti-Semitic observations.
In 2017, Gay gave proof of her anti-democratic outlook when, in the face of criticisms about the destruction of careers and lives in the #MeToo witch-hunt on the basis of unnamed, unsubstantiated accusations, she complained about “a lot of hand-wringing about libel and the ethics of anonymous disclosure.”
It is not an accident that Chappelle finds himself squarely in the anti-Semitic camp. Practitioners of black nationalist ideology have frequently made common cause with white supremacists and other political filth, as have proponents of Zionism and Jewish nationalism, for that matter. The Nation of Islam, which notoriously conducted meetings with the Ku Klux Klan in the Jim Crow South and praised American Nazi Party leader George Lincoln Rockwell in the late 1950s and early 1960s, is also known for its violent anti-Semitism, Holocaust denial and anti-gay rhetoric.
In an earlier day, Chappelle established himself as a commentator with an acerbic wit who could choose deserving targets and developed a youth following in particular as a result. He is best known for his hit three-season run of Chappelle’sShow (2003-2006) on Comedy Central. Chappelle famously abandoned the series and a lucrative contract with the television station due to his criticism of the show. While many of the show’s segments were vulgar and backward, his skits lampooning former-President George W. Bush’s efforts to sell the war in Iraq did capture an element of the criminality and gangsterism of the administration.
Chappelle’s personal and political background is worth a comment. Born on August 24, 1973 in Washington D.C. to parents William David Chappelle III and Yvonne Seon, David Khari Webber Chappelle has lived firmly ensconced within an upper middle class African and African American milieu. His father, William, attended Ivy League colleges and taught music while serving as dean of students at Antioch College in the town of Yellow Springs, Ohio, where Chappelle himself owns large amounts of property.
The elder Chappelle was involved in civil rights and protest groups, including Help Us Make a Nation (H.U.M.A.N.), which sought to “address institutional racism and discrimination,” according to the 365 Project. Chappelle’s mother, Yvonne, worked for a time in the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo’s bourgeois nationalist government of Patrice Lumumba. Notably, she later worked in the United States Department of State. She then founded a Black Studies Center at Wright State University.
Chappelle (net worth $50 million) introduces The Closer by declaring, “I’m rich and famous,” followed by the explanation that the “last 17 months were hell and I cannot imagine what everyone went through.” While this elementary acknowledgement of the socially disparate impact of coronavirus may be honest, the pandemic has had an accelerating impact on society, sharpening class conflict.
Whereas the working population has responded to the pandemic with a still-growing strike wave against the profits-before-lives policy of the capitalist leaders, the ruling class and its well-to-do hangers-on have responded by whipping up fascistic and racist demagogy to divide and confuse the working class. This has gone hand in hand with the homicidal drive to force teachers, students, workers and parents into unsafe workplaces and schools to resume production amid record COVID-19 infections and deaths.
The movement of the working class, which has revolutionary implications, is attracting the most thoughtful and progressive layers of the middle classes to its side and repelling the more selfish and degenerate affluent elements. It is the responsibility of the former to reject the racist garbage that bourgeois society is secreting from its pores and to fight for the international unity of the working class of all nations and backgrounds.
One does not know which is more disgusting, Chapelle’s gloating about violence against Asian Americans or the declaration by the New York Times, which claims to be America’s “newspaper of record” that such a tirade contains moments of “brilliance.”
Blacks are also overrepresented among perpetrators of hate crimes—by 50 percent—according to the most recent Justice Department data from 2017; whites are underrepresented by 24 percent. This is particularly true for anti-gay and anti-Semitic hate crimes.

This did not wear well. On February 22, 2019, a story posted on Gentleman's Quarterly website was headlined: "The Racist, Homophobic Attack on Jussie Smollett Is America's Endgame. When one of the most famous black and gay men in America is not safe, the message is clearer than it has ever been." One of the most famous black and gay men? Count me among the multitudes who said, "Who is Jussie Smollett?"
GQ.com, of course, referred to the alleged hate crime committed one winter night in Chicago against actor Smollett, coming back from Subway toting a tuna fish foot-long sandwich. He claimed his attackers were President Donald Trump-supporting thugs who yelled racial and homophobic slurs. The tale quickly fell apart, but not before the "America is systemically racist" media and political ambulance chasers weighed in.
The soon-to-be presidential candidate Joe Biden tweeted in January 2019: "What happened today to Jussie Smollett must never be tolerated in this country. We must stand up and demand that we no longer give this hate safe harbor; that homophobia and racism have no place on our streets or in our hearts. We are with you, Jussie."
Biden's future running mate, Kamala Harris, tweeted: "Jussie Smollett is one of the kindest, most gentle human beings I know. I'm praying for his quick recovery. This was an attempted modern day-lynching. No one should have to fear for their life because of their sexuality or color of their skin. We must confront this hate."
Rep. Maxine Waters tweeted: "Jussie is my friend — a very talented and beautiful human being. It is so hurtful that homophobic haters would dare hurt someone so loving and giving. I'm dedicated to finding the culprits and bringing them to justice. Jussie did not deserve to be harmed by anyone."
Even after a Chicago grand jury determined that Smollett staged it and criminally indicted him, he insisted that the crime took place. Now facing several criminal charges of staging the attack and lying to the police, Smollett pled not guilty and even took the stand and insisted he did not fabricate the assault. The only thing missing from his bizarre testimony was a laugh track. A few days ago, the jury found him guilty of five of six charges.
Why does he not face a charge of perjury? According to Illinois law: "A person commits perjury when, under oath or affirmation, in a proceeding or in any other matter where by law the oath or affirmation is required, he or she makes a false statement, material to the issue ... knowing the statement is false."
In 2019, Wilfred Reilly, author of "Hate Crime Hoax," found over 400 serious cases of alleged hate crimes from 2014 to 2019 that were later debunked. Reilly just upped the number of media-reported, but later debunked hate crimes, to nearly 1,000.
This brings us to MSNBC host Joy Reid. After the alleged Smollett attack, Reid tweeted: "Nooses never really disappeared as messages of a very specific kind of terror, but every time they're used, my god, it's chilling. Praying for Jussie's full recovery. And for us all." But Reid also pulled a Smollett. In the mid to late 2000s, she published a blog in which she wrote a series of posts denouncing gays, including "most straight people cringe at the sight of two men kissing" and "adult gay men tend to be attracted to very young, post-pubescent types." The posts surfaced after Reid became a MSNBC host. She denied writing them and claimed her blog had been hacked. Like Smollett, Reid claimed to be a victim of a hate crime against her. The forensic specialist NBC hired to investigate her claim found no evidence of hacking. Reid apologized.
When the demand for hate crimes exceeds the supply, what to do? Fake it! The Rev. Al Sharpton and Tawana Brawley were not available for comment.
Finally, a message for Smollett. Consider these two words the next time you crave a midnight snack: Uber Eats.

In a breathtaking display of ignorance, especially for someone who sits in the primetime anchor chair of for cable news outlet, and most especially for someone charged with discussing the political topics of the day, Reid tweeted this on Monday:

By “FiveThirtyEight,” Reid is referring to Nate Silver’s disgraced polling site that has so far gotten two presidential elections in a row horribly wrong. But I digress.
Reid is telling anyone dumb enough to listen that Gore’s margin of loss in 2000 presidential election is so notorious, Silver named his site after that margin.
How freakin’ stupid is this woman?
If this was some sports guy, I can see it. No sweat. Politics isn’t your thing.
But we are talking about a nightly, primetime anchor on a national cable news network who doesn’t know that “538” refers to the number of electoral votes in the United States.
This is just inconceivable to me.
If that isn’t bad enough, Reid links to a tweet that says Gore lost by 537 votes — so where did the “538” come from? Did she just add +1 to prove how stupid she is?

Something like “538” is not just a basic of our democracy, it’s the DNA of our democracy, and for a primetime news anchor to be wholly ignorant of this… It’s like your math teacher not understanding how to add or subtract, your science teacher not understanding the law of gravity, your history teacher being unfamiliar with the Declaration of Independence (and you can bet there are plenty of public school teachers out there with this problem).
The corporate media have no standards whatsoever.

Joy Reid Lands MSNBC Primetime Slot Despite History of Homophobic Statements
MSNBC’s Joy Reid, host of the weekend show AM Joy, is taking over one of the network’s weekday primetime slots despite her well-documented history of homophobic statements.
Reid will host The ReidOut on weekdays at 7 p.m., taking over former host Chris Matthews’ slot, the network announced on Thursday.
“The Washington, D.C.-based show will feature one-on-one conversations with politicians and newsmakers while addressing provocative political issues both inside and outside of the beltway,” the press release stated, touting Reid’s status as a “best-selling author and public speaker” and her “decades-long experience in politics” and “passion for addressing the intersection of race, justice and culture.”
Unmentioned in the network’s announcement is Reid’s history of controversial homophobic comments, which were unearthed in 2017. They were found in her former blog, The Reid Report.
Reid, in posts written 2007-2009, unleashed a crusade against former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist with an ongoing homophobic schtick, referring to Crist as “Miss Charlie” and suggesting that he was hiding his true sexuality. His then-wife, Carole Rom, was not spared from Reid’s wrath, as the journalist suggested that Crist married her to quash any speculation of homosexuality and reduced their engagement as an elaborate “veep marketing strategy.”
“I can just see poor Charlie on the honeymoon, ogling the male waiters and thinking to himself, ‘god, do I actually have to see her naked…?’” she wrote in one post.
Other remarks, as highlighted by Breitbart News’s John Nolte, include:
· “Miss Charlie, Miss Charlie. Stop pretending, brother It’s okay that you don’t go for the ladies.”
· “When a gay politician gets married, it usually indicates that he is highly ambitious, and desires to put himself in a position to move up the power ladder.”
· “Oh and if I were Charlie’s fiancée. I wouldn’t bet everything I had on that December wedding. Getting engaged was kind of part of the veep marketing strategy.”
· “Miss Charlie … would immediately start planning the state funeral down to the last flamingo-shaped napkin and get his decorator to the West Wing faster than you can say ‘George Takei!’”
· “Did I mention Miss Charlie also won’t be on the ticket because he’s gay?”
· “But what is most interesting of all is the way [the media] pretend that they don’t all know what they know about Crist’s sexual orientation.”

Reid issued an apology following the emergence of the posts, defending herself as a former “morning talk radio host and blogger, writing about Florida politics” and claiming that she had “at no time … intentionally sought to demean or harm the LGBT community.”
“My goal, in my ham-handed way, was to call out potential hypocrisy,” she said, expressing “regret” for the way she addressed the “complex issue of the closet and speculation on a person’s sexual orientation with a mocking tone and sarcasm.”
“It was insensitive, tone deaf and dumb,” she said at the time. “There is no excusing it – not based on the taste-skewing mores of talk radio or the then-blogosphere, and not based on my intentions.”
Reid continued to enjoy her employment at MSNBC following the controversy, but months later, additional homophobic posts stemming from her former blog surfaced, uncovered by Mediaite. Despite Reid’s established history of issuing controversial, homophobic statements on the blog, she denied that she was the author of the new discoveries. Rather, the posts, she said, were the work of an “unknown, external party” which “accessed and manipulated material from my now-defunct blog … to include offensive and hateful references that are fabricated and run counter to my personal beliefs and ideology.”
“Most straight people cringe at the sight of two men kissing… Most straight people had a hard time being convinced to watch ‘Broke Back Mountain.’ (I admit that I couldn’t go see the movie either, despite my sister’s ringing endorsement, because I didn’t want to watch the two male characters having sex.),” one of the entries, which Reid denies authoring, read.
“Does that make me homophobic? Probably. And I’m not exactly proud of it. But part of the intrinsic nature of ‘Straightness’ is that the idea of homosexual sex is … well … gross … even if you think that gay people are perfectly lovely individuals,” the post continued.
The alleged hacker also included Anderson Cooper and Clay Aiken in a list of “totally not gay celebrities of the year” and mused on homosexual men preying on young boys:

However, Reid claimed it was “manipulated material” that was “part of an effort to taint my character with false information by distorting a blog that ended a decade ago.”
“Now that the site has been compromised I can state unequivocally that it does not represent the original entries,” she said at the time.
Even so, the left-wing Mediaite offered a dose skepticism:
It is worth noting, however, that Reid does admit these posts came from her blog … with the caveat that they were added by nefarious hackers after she had the site shut down. It’s unclear when the nefarious hackers would have hacked her site and added the controversial content, since it has been defunct for years and still is. More importantly, NBC could or would not specify exactly which posts Reid is claiming were doctored.
Even the Daily Beast had trouble taking Reid at her word, writing in October 2018:

But that consultant, Jonathan Nichols, had trouble producing the promised evidence. And what he did produce failed to withstand scrutiny, according to a Daily Beast analysis. Blog posts that Nichols claimed do not appear on the Internet Archive are, in fact, there. The indicators of hacked posts don’t bear out.
While Reid never faced any serious consequences in terms of her employment with the network, conservatives have remembered her history of controversial statements. Former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham brought them to the forefront last December after Reid referred to her as “Baghdad Bob,” former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein’s spokesman.
“I’d love to respond, but Ms. Reid would likely just claim something crazy like she was hacked again – just as she did when all of her homophobic blog posts were discovered,” Grisham said in response to Reid’s attempt at a political slam.
MSNBC made no mention of Reid’s controversial past in its press release of her new primetime slot. MSNBC President Phil Griffin said he was “thrilled” to have Reid hosting a show five nights a week.
“She’s thoughtful and brings so much depth to her reporting,” Griffin said. “She’s made for this moment.”
