Border Patrol agents assigned to an immigration checkpoint near the Arizona border with Mexico found an armed human smuggler with three people locked in the trunk of the vehicle. The three migrants included a minor.

Tucson Sector Chief Patrol Agent John R. Modlin tweeted a photo showing a migrant child being transported in the trunk of a sedan. Agents assigned to the Interstate 19 immigration checkpoint found the migrant child and two adults locked inside the trunk.

The agents identified the driver as a Mexican national who had previously been deported by immigration officers, Modlin stated. The agents discovered the Mexican human smuggler was armed with a loaded firearm. He now faces prosecution related to human smuggling and illegal firearms possession.

Agents assigned to the State Road 83 immigration checkpoint found five migrants in a sedan. They found one of the migrants locked inside the trunk of the sedan. The agents arrested the U.S. citizen driver and the five Mexican nationals.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Deletes Its Reports about ‘Potential Terrorist’ Arrest in Arizona

Official Facebook and Twitter posts on Yuma Sector Border Patrol and Chief Chris Clem’s accounts regarding the arrest of a “potential terrorist” disappeared after Customs and Border Protection (CBP) deleted the reports. Citing a violation of protocols and inappropriate release of sensitive information, all social media were scrubbed by the federal agency. The postings from December 20 indicated the agency determined an arrested man linked to Yemeni subjects of interest.

The posts described the arrest of a 21-year-old Saudi Arabian national crossing into the United States from Mexico near Yuma. The migrant was arrested near County 8 ½ Road, west of the city on December 20. After investigating the case, the agency reported the migrant was linked to several Yemeni subjects of interest for terrorism concerns.

In addition to the deletion of the Facebook posting, a Fox News report notes CBP deleted a similar tweet outlining the arrest from Chief Clem.

CBP Public Affairs Assistant Commissioner Luis Miranda said in a statement to Fox News that the tweet was deleted because “it contained law enforcement sensitive information, violating agency protocols.”

Although initial reporting described the man as a Saudi national, that information was disputed by the Saudi Embassy.

Given the subject was identified as a potential terrorist by the Border Patrol, it most likely indicates the migrant is a “Known or Suspected Terrorist” (KST). The Department of Homeland Security defines the category as “an individual who is reasonably suspected to be engaging in, has engaged in, or intends to engage in conduct constituting, in preparation for, in aid of, or related to terrorism and/or terrorist activities.”

Poll: Majority Say Biden Has ‘Poor’ Handling of Immigration, Crime

Most Americans say President Biden is doing a “poor” job handling both immigration and crime, a Rasmussen Reports survey released Tuesday found.

The survey asked respondents, “How do you rate the way President Biden is handling crime and law enforcement issues?” The question comes over a year after mass calls to defund the police, with crime on the rise in Democrat-run areas.

Overall, 51 believe percent Biden is doing a “poor job” on this issue, followed by 17 percent who say “good,” 14 percent who say “excellent,” and 14 percent who say “fair.” A majority of Republicans (77 percent) and independents (56 percent) agree that Biden is doing a “poor” job in this area, while 57 percent of Democrats say he is doing either “good” or “excellent.”

The survey also asked how Biden is handling issues related to immigration. A majority, 54 percent, rate him “poor,” while 27 percent say he is doing either “good” or “excellent.” Once again, most Republicans (78 percent) and independents (60 percent), agree that he is doing a “poor” job. However, 50 percent of Democrats rate his handling of immigration as either “good” or “excellent,” compared to 46 percent who say “fair” or “poor”:

On both crime and immigration, even Democratic voters now rate Biden less favorably than they did before. On crime and law enforcement issues, for example, 57% of Democrats rate Biden excellent or good, down from 62% in July, while on immigration, the share of Democrats rating the president handling as excellent or good declined to 50% from 52% in September.

Majorities of both Republicans (78%) and voters not affiliated with either major party (60%) give Biden a poor rating for his handling of issues related to immigration. Similarly, 77% of Republicans and 56% of unaffiliated voters rate Biden poor for his handling of crime and law enforcement issues.

The survey, taken December 19-20, 2021, among 1,000 likely U.S. voters, has a margin of error of +/- 3 percent.

The survey follows a Civiqs poll released Sunday, revealing that just 36 percent of registered voters approve of Biden’s overall job performance nearly a year into his presidency. Most voters, 55 percent, disapprove of his job performance.

That is also reflected in Tuesday’s RealClearPolitics average, which shows Biden’s approval rating underwater by 10.1 percent.
