An 85-year-old woman was pulled from an elevator and apparently robbed during a Bronx purse snatching on Sunday, ABC 7 reported.

Authorities are hoping surveillance footage of what happened will result in an arrest.

The incident occurred a few minutes after 3:00 p.m. at an apartment building in the area of East 149th Street and Morris Avenue located in Mott Haven.

“The victim was in the elevator with the assailant, who first exited and looked around the floor before returning and grabbing the woman’s purse,” the outlet said.

In the NYPD Crime Stoppers video, the suspect, wearing a blue vest, appeared to drag the woman out of the elevator and down the hallway.

When the suspect rounded the corner, the elderly woman slammed into the wall and fell on the floor as the individual fled.

The victim complained of hip pain and was eventually transported to Lincoln Hospital.

Authorities found her purse but a wallet was still missing.

Citizens with information pertaining to the incident were asked to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish speakers, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
Meanwhile, Democrat mayors were being criticized because of their responses to increasing crime in cities such as New York City, Chicago, and Philadelphia, Fox News reported December 14:

The U.S. murder rate rose 30% between 2019 and 2020, according to FBI data – the largest annual increase on record, with Chicago topping the list. At least 12 major cities, including New York, have already set historical murder records in 2021. Robberies and assaults are also on the rise, and retailers in major cities across the country are reporting an uptick in organized smash-and-grab crimes during the busy holiday shopping season.

Most recently, four attacks were reported in different locations of the New York City subway on Sunday, according to ABC 7:

“It’s always something happening. I’m not really surprised,” one woman told the outlet.

President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ) is finishing up the year by giving grants to cities across the country “grappling with a dramatic rise in violent crime,” far-left CNN reported on Monday.

The publication pointed to a December 20 release from the DOJ announcing that hundreds of communities and organizations are eligible or are being awarded grant awards from a $1.6 billion pot to support programs that will supposedly reduce violent crime.

Attorney General and failed Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland said in a statement:

The Department of Justice is committed to supporting our state and local partners to combat crime across the country. This latest round of funding will deliver critical public safety resources, helping public safety professionals, victim service providers, local agencies and nonprofit organizations confront these serious challenges.

One of the grants is the Justice Assistance Grant program (JAG), which will split up more than $271.9 million between 56 state law enforcement agencies and 900 cities and counties. The money could fund programs like “multijurisdictional drug and gang task forces, crime prevention and domestic violence programs, courts, corrections, treatment, justice information sharing initiatives, or other programs aimed at reducing crime and/or enhancing public/officer safety,” the program’s description states.

CNN admitted after more than a year of covering for the Marxist Black Lives Matter and Defund the Police movements:

The grants follow a tumultuous period for cities, many of which struggled with protests last year in the wake of the murder of George Floyd. In response to the protests, lawmakers in some cities like San Francisco, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, and New York City proposed cutting back on their police departments’ budgets to redirect the funds into other community programs.

According to the report, Seattle and Chicago have both been awarded large chunks of money, $771,127 and $2,407,095. Notably, Seattle has repeatedly slashed its policing budget, and Chicago has already had more than 800 homicides this year.

“Philadelphia is eligible for $1,499,662; Baltimore can receive $1,364,052; New York City is eligible for $4,095,916 and Los Angeles may collect $2,692,835,” the report continues. Both New York City and Los Angeles caved to the Defund the Police agenda during the summer of 2020.

Hennepin County in Minneapolis, which is where four police officers were charged in connection with George Floyd’s murder, was awarded $590,659. San Francisco city and county are eligible for $460,341, and Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, is eligible for $922,735.

The largest JAG recipients are California’s Board of State and Community Corrections ($19,447,453), the office for the Governor of Texas ($14,531,729), and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement ($10,886,155).

At Least 18 Shot Christmas Eve into Sunday Morning in Lightfoot’s Chicago

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot speaks during a press conference at City Hall, Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021, in Chicago. The city will require proof of coronavirus vaccination at restaurants, bars, gyms and other indoor venues, as the rapidly spreading omicron variant drives a spike in COVID-19 infections, Mayor Lightfoot said Tuesday. …

At least 18 people were shot, one of them fatally, Christmas Eve into Sunday morning in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s (D) Chicago.

NBC 5 noted the one fatality occurred Christmas Day “in the 3000 block of North Avers” when a 24-year-old was shot and killed.

Police received calls reporting the shooting at 10:37 p.m. and arrived to find the victim deceased with a head wound.

Chicago registered its 800th homicide of the year on December 14. Two days later, on October 16, WBEZ pointed out that Chicago’s homicides had surpassed 810 for the year.

Chicago, like all of Illinois, has a 72-hour waiting period on gun purchases, a red flag law, and a Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card requirement for all would-be gun owners. The process for getting a FOID card includes going through a background check.

Additionally, Cook County, the county in which Chicago sits, has an “assault weapons” ban.
