The Biden administration has helped entice nearly two million border crossers and illegal aliens to arrive at the southern border in 2021. In addition, his administration estimates that about half a million illegal aliens successfully crossed into the U.S., undetected by Border Patrol.
Meanwhile, as of late October, Biden has released more than 530,000 border crossers and illegal aliens into the U.S. interior. This total includes the tens of thousands of Unaccompanied Alien Children (UACs) who have been dispersed to states like Pennsylvania.
What’s really democratic? Not H.R.1
Unless you have spent the last year in the jungles of Borneo, you are undoubtedly aware of the Democrats’ constant attacks on states that have attempted to tighten their rules on voter identification and mail-in ballots. Famously, in probably the most ridiculous fevered hyperbole, insulting to actual victims of Jim Crow laws, President Biden denounced Georgia’s modest efforts to enhance voting security as “Jim Crow 2.0.” But are demands for voter photo IDs and restrictions on mail-in ballots anti-democratic efforts at voter suppression? Who is really anti-democratic on these issues? Economist John R. Lott helpfully provides the data.
Take a look at Europe, which has forty-seven countries, all of which hold elections. As of this date, according to Lott, forty-six of the forty-seven require photo IDs in order to vote; and the forty-seventh is about to do so, too. Lott adds that Canada, which is surely a democracy, also requires photo IDs, and that Mexico, in an effort to combat voter fraud, now requires a biometric ID to vote, one with a photo and a thumbprint. (He notes that voter turnout in Mexico substantially increased after this reform, suggesting that strengthening election integrity makes voters more confident that their votes will count.)
So relative to both Europe and North America, the United States that Democrats want to see will be the odd country out, with less election integrity with respect to voter identification than every other country. Moreover, close to eighty percent of Americans also favor tight voter identification rules. So the states that are heading in that direction, not the Democrats opposing them, are the ones in step with other democracies and with the American public.
What about H.R.1’s requirement of universal mail-in balloting? How does that compare with the practices in other democracies? Again, according to Lott, not well. Thirty-five of the forty-seven European countries do not even allow absentee voting for citizens who are not out of the country. Ten other countries allow absentee voting but require voters to pick up their ballots in person and with a photo ID. And France has banned absentee voting altogether, as has Mexico. It goes without saying that countries this strict about absentee voting would never support universal mail-in balloting.
Lott recounts that in 2005, a blue-ribbon bipartisan commission headed by former president Jimmy Carter, a Democrat, and former secretary of State, James Baker, a Republican, proposed requiring a photo ID to vote in U.S. elections. It also condemned as susceptible to voter fraud widespread absentee balloting. And it surely would have doubly condemned mailing ballots to people who had not requested them, a prominent feature of H.R.1. But Democrats now believe that loosening voting requirements will benefit them, so they want to make such loosening universal and permanent. But in doing that they will be undermining election integrity and will be making the U.S. an outlier in that regard, with less election integrity than every European and North American democracy.
As the U.S. expanded the franchise, first to the propertyless, then in the Fifteenth Amendment to blacks, in the Nineteenth Amendment to women, and in the Twenty-sixth to those eighteen years of age, it became more and more democratic. At the same time, it gradually made voting less subject to fraud and manipulation, moving to secret ballots in the late nineteenth century and adopting rules to ensure that only eligible voters voted, and voted only once. H.R.1 seeks to eliminate these methods for protecting election integrity, methods that prevail in Europe and the rest of North America. Despite how the Democrats advertise it, H.R.1 is a profoundly regressive and anti-democratic bill.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren Attacks Republican ‘Opponents of Democracy’ on January 6 Anniversary
U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) attacked Republican “opponents of democracy,” in a speech on the Senate floor on the eve of the January 6 Capitol riot anniversary.
“Today, Republican opponents of democracy are exploiting every possible avenue to allow their party to maintain control,” Warren said. The Massachusetts senator also commemorated the “sacrifices” made by Capitol Police to “protect our Democracy.”
“The January 6 insurrection made painfully clear that American democracy is seriously at risk,” she added.
Warren also used her time on the Senate floor to call on the Senate to pass a voting rights legislation package in light of the federal judiciary and state legislatures’ alleged “all-out assault against free and fair elections in America.”
“The Senate must not turn a blind eye while the federal judiciary and state legislatures lead an all-out assault against free and fair elections in America. It’s clear that Donald Trump’s Republican Party is embracing an increasingly authoritarian movement,” she added.
Warren’s call for voting rights confirms recent reports that revealed congressional Democrats intend to use the January 6 anniversary as a catalyst for passing voting rights legislation.
U.S Attorney General Merrick Garland also called on Congress to pass voting rights legislation on Wednesday. “It is essential for Congress to act to give the Department the powers we need to ensure that every eligible voter can cast a vote that counts,” the Attorney General said.
Democrats face trouble surpassing the 60-vote threshold required to overcome a Republican filibuster. In her speech, Warren also called for an end to the filibuster. This longtime Senate procedure allows a senator to prolong debate and delay legislative proceedings on a particular matter.

“It is time to end the filibuster, time to protect voting rights, and time to defend our democracy,” said Warren. “My view on this is simple. We did not swear an oath to protect a procedural rule like the filibuster, which has been the tool of racial segregation and Jim Crow.”
“No. We swore an oath to defend the Constitution. When the Senate rules stand in the way of voting rights legislation, then those Senate rules must change,” she said.
As the Democrats commemorate the first anniversary of January 6, Republican politicians will have their response to the Democrats. Although former President Donald Trump canceled a press conference scheduled for January 6, House Republican Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Marjorie Taylor-Greene (R-GA) will hold a “Republican response” on January 6.

Exclusive — Heritage Foundation: Chuck Schumer Using January 6 to Seize ‘Permanent Power’ by Breaking Filibuster
Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts and Heritage Action Executive Director Jessica Anderson said in a joint statement Wednesday that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is using the anniversary of January 6 to seize “permanent” political power, Breitbart News has learned exclusively.
Roberts and Anderson released their joint statement after Schumer signaled that he will seek to change the Senate’s filibuster rules to pass the Freedom to Vote Act, which would mandate that states have early and mail-in voting. They said that Schumer continues to use the anniversary of the January 6 protests as the basis for passing anti-voter legislation, such as the Freedom to Vote Act.
The Heritage Foundation and Action leaders commended state leaders for enacting legislation to ensure the integrity of America’s elections and combat election fraud.
Anderson and Roberts said, “In 2021, state lawmakers ushered in smart and transparent election integrity reforms, making it easy to vote and hard to cheat. This work should be commended, as voter integrity and trust in our elections are the bedrock of our American democracy. Instead, the liberal elite spent all of 2021 creating a false narrative of voter disenfranchisement and suppression as Democrat leaders and the media tried to convince Americans reforms such as voter ID were racist.”
In a letter to his Democrat colleagues this week, Schumer described states’ voter integrity bills as “anti-democratic”:
Republican officials in states across the country have seized on the former president’s Big Lie about widespread voter fraud to enact anti-democratic legislation and seize control of typically non-partisan election administration functions. While these actions all proceed under the guise of so-called “election integrity”, the true aim couldn’t be more clear. They want to unwind the progress of our Union, restrict access to the ballot, silence the voices of millions of voters, and undermine free and fair elections. They wish to propagate the Big Lie perpetuated by the former president that our elections are not on the level.
Make no mistake about it: this week Senate Democrats will make clear that what happened on January 6th and the one-sided, partisan actions being taken by Republican-led state legislatures across the country are directly linked, and we can and must take strong action to stop this anti- democratic march.

President Joe Biden and Schumer’s distortions about the bill were even declared false by the Washington Post and Politifact.
Anderson and Roberts said that Schumer’s move to pass the anti-voter legislation by busting the filibuster would enhance Schumer’s power.
“However, the American people did not buy into their lies, and Democrat leaders in Washington have now pivoted to the anniversary of January 6. Senator Schumer and his cronies are now using the events of last January as a means to accomplish their never-ending goal of permanent power,” the Heritage leaders remarked. “Disguised as a ‘voting rights’ bill, Schumer’s anti-voter agenda is nothing more than an attempt to take power away from the American people and forever undermine the integrity of our elections.”
Republican lawmakers such as Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) have warned that breaking the filibuster would diminish the constitutional role of the Senate.
Lee warned that ending the filibuster would turn the Senate into a “Lord of the Flies”-style institution.
“This proposed legislation will give Washington bureaucrats power over our election systems and throw out measures like voter ID in every state — a common-sense measure that is continually supported by over 80% of the American people,” the Heritage leaders added.
They concluded in their statement, “Americans want voter integrity, and they know the Left’s partisan narrative has nothing to do with democracy and everything to do with rigging the rules to keep Democrats in power to pass their agenda without our support.”

Biden Accused of Using Coronavirus Funds to Bankroll Secret Flights of Border Crossers into U.S.
President Joe Biden is diverting Chinese coronavirus funding away from Americans and using it to fly border crossers and illegal aliens into the United States interior, a Republican congressman says.
As Breitbart News has reported over the last few weeks, Biden has been accused of using Pennsylvania as a transportation spot for border crossers and illegal aliens where flights are charted in coordination with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Most recently, former Rep. Lou Barletta (R) — now running for governor in Pennsylvania — accused Biden of flying border crossers and illegal aliens to eastern communities in the state. Barletta said:
First, we had to discover for ourselves that illegal immigrants were being shipped into northeast Pennsylvania on at least four flights. But then when people demanded information, the flights were shifted to the Lehigh Valley and they just hoped no one would notice.
This week, in statements to the media, Gov. Tom Wolf (D) seemingly confirmed Biden’s secret migrant flights to Pennsylvania but excused them as merely a stopping point for passengers’ final destination, which remains unknown.
a Wolf spokesperson told Fox News:
Had any of the elected officials sending letters/statements asked, they would have received the same information that we have from HHS; over recent weeks, unaccompanied children passed through the Wilkes-Barre airport en route to their final destination to be unified with their parents or vetted sponsor.
Rep. Dan Meuser (R-PA), who sent a letter to the Biden administration requesting information on the secret migrant flights, told Fox Business Channel Biden was actually siphoning funds allocated for coronavirus testing and using it to fly border crossers and illegal aliens into the U.S.
“The idea that they would do this, attempt to do it secretly, clandestinely in the middle of the night. There were two flights that came in on Christmas night, in the evening, at nine o’clock at night,” Meuser said:
I went down to the airport the next day to see what was going on and there were many eyewitnesses that divulged everything to me. And that’s the only way that we really found out — through leaks. And I’ll tell you something else: the American people need to know what HHS did: They diverted billions of dollars of funding that was dedicated for tests, covid tests … to bring in unaccompanied minors, illegal minors into the U.S. [Emphasis added]

We understand they’re going into the New York metro area but that’s just anecdotal. [Emphasis added]
